The Grand Canyon National Park has long been a must-see destination given the fact that it is home to a geographical and world renown marvel. Given its immense size, the Grand Canyon is a visually inspiring and powerful landscape. More than its aesthetic intrigue, however, the history of this location and the process by which it was formed have attracted numerous visitors throughout the years.

Spanning more than 277 river miles, this canyon features many geologic forms and colors. The wildlife is surprisingly diverse and travelers can often get an up-close experience with many different land and water animals when taking guided tours. It is a full mile deep and approximately 18 miles wide.

It was not until 1919 that National Park status was achieved for this location. Prior to this it was recorded as a National Monument and a Forest Reserve. Now, however, as many as 5 million people visit this park on an annual basis, making it a major attraction for both nationals and international visitors.

There are over 4,300 archaeological discoveries that have been made here, however, this accounts for only 5% of the available land which is all that has been officially surveyed. Some of the archaeological finds are believed to be as much as 12,000 years old and thus, they lend greater understanding of the history and people of the western world, both before and after recorded history. There are 11 tribes traditionally associated with the park and these groups take part in the preservation and maintenance as part of their own cultural preservation.

For hiking enthusiasts, there are two main trails that serve as superhighways through this park. These are the South Kaibab trail and the Bright Angel trail. These offer rough terrain, however, given the fact that there is no shade and therefore no respite from the heat. Thus, novice hikers are advice to take special heed to warnings on recommendations for gear and all hikers should attempt to carry a minimum of two quarts of water. Those who are up for the trek will find either trail to be a visually spectacular and highly informative journey.

Both the North and South rims of the canyon offer plenty for viewers to see. The South Rims is best know for its sights given that it is often featured on postcards and in movies as well as via other forms of media. The North Rim, however, proves just as interesting and thus, travelers will usually choose their paths based upon their starting locations and the amount of time that they have for exploring. Moreover, exploration methods can vary quite a bit as well.

Boating tours are a popular option for people who want a more leisurely experience. These usually start at the South Rim and carry on for about fifteen miles. Midway to the finish travelers are treated to a picnic lunch on the banks of the river and can even venture in for an afternoon swim.

Other people are investing in helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon. While this is certainly a less hands on approach it affords consumers the benefit of getting an aerial view, which is often the only way to truly take in the sheer immensity of this structure. These are perfect for Las Vegas visitors who wish to part their time between indulging in the fun on the strip and learning more about the geography and history of this world wonder.

New Year's holidays in Las Vegas are a great way to ring in 2014. But if you really want to make it a trip to remember, consider going on a day trip to the Grand Canyon.

    Yes, the Grand Canyon.

I know it sounds odd at first but in actuality it's very realistic. See, the National Park is just 120 miles away from Vegas, making it one of Sin City's most sought after things to do.

So how does one go about visiting the Canyon, right?

Well, there are numerous ways, but the most popular include bus tours, airplane flights and helicopter rides. In addition, there are jeep tours, walking tours, and ATV adventures. But for the purpose of this article, we'll stick to the top 3.

Bus tours go to the West Rim and the South Rim. The West Rim is closest, and it's also home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The South Rim is the farthest (some 277 miles east), but it's the place to go for natural scenic beauty. Do note that bus trips leave once a day and that they only pause at Hoover Dam for photos.

Airplane tours get you to the West Rim in 30 minutes and the South Rim in 60. I'm partial to these trips especially when I'm on a budget and have to get to the Canyon fast. I also prefer them when it comes to getting to the South Rim. As noted, it takes an hour. Compared to a 5.5-hour bus ride, it's like riding a Cheetah.

Then there are helicopter rides. These only go to the West Rim because the South is too far away. You can fly over the Canyon in a heli or you can land at the top or bottom. The more exciting of the two is the one that goes to the base for a Champagne lunch. Personally, the descent alone is worth the price of admission, so to speak.

The great thing about these Las Vegas tours is that they are all-inclusive. This means they come with everything you need as a traveler, including hotel pick up and drop off, lunch (excluding air-only trips) and all Park entrance fees and fuel surcharges. Or, to rephrase, the price you pay at online checkout is the final price and nothing more.

It's going to be cold in Vegas during the New Year's holidays and the same can be said for the Canyon. Heed this and dress for temperatures that could reach freezing. The nice thing is the day does heat up as time goes on but there's not guarantee that it will so dress accordingly. One thing I strongly recommend is a good jacket. And if you can, make sure to bring a hat and gloves.

I mentioned online checkout earlier, which leads me to price. The best deals are on the Web. Just don't delegate too much time to save a few bucks. You'll go crazy and remember that your time has value, too. Be consoled that the price you do find on the Internet is very competitive and that you've taken an extra step that few in your shoes have.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

If you're headed out to Las Vegas for the New Year's holidays, definitely consider taking a Grand Canyon bus tour.

Enjoying the Las Vegas Strip is your top priority. But I find that many visitors like to take a break from celebrating by taking a trip to the Canyon.

If you do this, you have two options: Visit the West Rim or the South Rim. The former is closest and requires a 2.5-hour drive while the later is farthest and takes 5.5-hours to reach.

    Two Rims

Which rim should you visit? Depends on what you want to see and do. Let's start with the West Rim. You'll want to go there if you want activities and attractions.

For example, the Grand Canyon Skywalk is at the West Rim. It's the glass bridge that let's you walk some 70 feet past the edge. Additionally, you can also take a helicopter to the bottom and a boat on the Colorado River.

I must point out that helicopter rides to the bottom are only available at the West Rim and they can be bundled into your bus tour package.

    South Rim

The South Rim is recognized as the official Grand Canyon. Most of the National Park's most famous pictures were taken here. Most bus tour companies will let you add a helicopter ride from the South Rim to the North Rim and back (highly recommended).

Bus tours are very popular during the holiday season. It's for this reason that I recommend that you book your coach trip in advance. If possible, do it at least 48 hours ahead of time.

Many visitors ask me what happens if their plans change. It's really no problem. The best bus tour companies let you cancel your tour within 24 hours of departure. Or, if you can't do the particular day you're scheduled, you can change it to another day at no charge.

    Best Prices

The best prices on bus tours can be found online. Some worry if booking on a Website is safe and yes it is. Nearly all travel sites are able to process transactions securely. In fact, when I book tours for friends and family, I only do it online and I've never had an issue.

Winter can be cold at the West Rim and the South Rim so please dress warmly. I recommend wearing a heavy jacket, gloves, a hat and good shoes. The South Rim sits at a higher elevation (7,000 feet), so it's colder than the West. Best thing to do is check the weather forecast the day before you go so you can be properly prepared.

    Conclusion

The New Year's holiday in Las Vegas is a special time. There's lots of energy and excitement. Sometime during your stay, however, you'll probably want to get off The Strip, and that's when a bus tour to the Grand Canyon makes a lot of sense. Just remember that bus tours require a full day to complete. Further, be prepared for cold weather. Then kick back and relax and enjoy the best of the Seven Wonders of the World

Article Title: Estate Planning and Asset Protection Often Goes Overlooked

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

It is commonly noted by financial planners that the areas of estate planning and asset protection are two of the most overlooked financial planning topics. Many people tend to focus on retirement and investment allocation, but often forget to protect those assets they spent significant portions of their time and effort building. Protecting those assets, as well as planning for the future are extremely important parts of financial planning and overall financial well being.

When selecting an estate planning attorney, be sure to pick a lawyer who has signifcant experience dealing with estate planning, and also has a well rounded background in the subject.

Practice areas of estate planning firms typically include basic and advanced estate planning, elder law, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, and more. Estate planning services generally include wills and revocable living trusts, durable powers of attorney, healthcare proxies, living wills, irrevocable trusts, charitable and education trusts, among others.

Elder law services will typically include Medicaid/Masshealth long-term care planning for nursing home care, Medicaid asset-sprotection trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships. It is important to research and learn about estate planning prior to seeing an attorney, in order to gain a grasp of what you can expect. Look for an attorney who takes a hands-on approach, and personally guides his clients through each and every stage of the planning process. At the initial meeting you can expect the attorney to listen carefully to the yourconcerns and learn about your unique personal, family and financial situation. As a result you should have established a comprehensive estate plan to address their concerns and situation.

The core goal of all good planning is to protect your assets so most of them end up going to benefit your family, and are not lost along the way to taxes, court costs, creditors, or divorce. At the second meeting you will generally work together with you and other advisors, tailoring the estate plan to achieve your unique values and goals. Once the plan is written, you will have to sign the plan documents. If the plan includes a living trust, you will have to fund (or transfer title of their assets into) your new trust.

Every lifetime plan developed should strive to leave your hard-earned property on to your family and protect against loss through from high nursing home costs.

Again, when selecting a estate planning attorney be sure to check references, prior work history, and be sure that you will ultimately be happy with the end results. Protecting your hard earned assets is often overlooked, but don't be one of the bunch that regret not having estate planning settled before it is too late.

Conveniently located in North Attleborough, they serve clients from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and especially the communities of North Attleborough, Norton, Attleboro, Mansfield, Foxboro, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Pawtucket, and Providence. Now is the time to consult a lawyer. Delay simply postpones the plan, the solution – call them today and take the first step toward peace of mind now.

John Stone recommends Deschene Law Office http://deschenelaw.com/ as a very knowledgeable Rhode Island and Massachusetts estate and asset protection attorney

ESD flooring specifiers and buyers have a myriad of concerns, when selecting an epoxy floor system, including architectural considerations, durability, longevity, maintenance, and quality of electrical properties. The decision makers shall need to understand both static control specifications, and the effect that installing epoxy ESD flooring will have on the success of their business.

The selection of ESD floors are oftentimes one of the most challenging decisions that specifiers and buyers encounter in the course of creating a world-class ESD program.

The installation of anti static coatings represents a major capital investment. The ESD epoxy flooring affects your organization's operational performance, as well as your company image, and can also affect the bottom line. Latent defects in your company's products, caused by faulty ESD flooring, could cost your company many times the original cost of the new flooring.

The engineering, production, QA, and purchasing personnel have competing interests; these include total cost of ownership, durability, company image, safety, aesthetics, maintenance, and static control. Specifiers typically turn to their general contractor or material distributor, to obtain ESD properties. Unless they specialize in installation of ESD flooring, these sources will often have limited ESD knowledge of the installation process, or the usual field-tested results of the products. Alternatively, the purchasing department may simply contact a supplier of miscellaneous ESD supplies (heel straps, ionizers, etc.) to get advice on installation concerns (flooring materials or installation). This would be similar to having a flooring company recommend ESD mats or wristraps. Not a good solution!

The specifier must speak with a knowledgeable project estimator who works for the flooring applicator. This person must have a solid grasp of the floor preparation process, the materials, the electrical properties, and the warranty. If the buyer does not feel comfortable with the background and knowledge of the installing contractor, then you need to seek another firm, since the results can be disastrous.

A basic question, which often arises, is whether the flooring should be conductive or dissipative? A little known fact are that the terms "conductive" and "static dissipative" were originally developed for the packaging industry, and included table covering materials, tote boxes, garments and flooring. It was also decided that conductive materials would create a safety problem for personnel, which turned out to be incorrect. Therefore, in the past, most ESD flooring was specified to be dissipative (less than 1Billion ohms) resistance.

The current standard requires a conductivity of less than 35 Million ohms, as per ESD-20.20-2007 which protects sensitive electronic components against walking body voltage (voltage generated by personnel walking on the floor). As a result of the current standards, the final determination is that ESD floor coatings should be selected solely on properties that specifically apply to flooring.

note: a good reference for ESD standards, is available from the ESD Association, on their website (www.esda.org). They provide quality, timely electrical data for an ESD control program.

ANSI/ESD-S20.20-2007 first recommends a resistance below 1 x 10E9 for the floor by itself. However, total system resistance (total of person, wristrap, heelstrap, floor) is recommended to be less than 35 megohms RTC (less than 35 x 10E6).The electrical range for static dissipative flooring should be (less than 35 megohms). This takes precedence over the S20.20 maximum flooring resistance threshold (1x 10E9 megohms). Following these recommendations shall ensure that walking body voltage shall remain below 100 volts, which is the most important criteria for a static dissipating floor (also a S20.20 requirement).

The need for effective ESD floors for static protection, to eliminate electrostatic charges (the electric charge that rests on the surface of an insulated body that establishes an electrostatic field) from materials and personnel is required in many industries. Damage to the electronic devices especially class 0 ESDS devices (ultra-sensitive devices that are vulnerable to charges as low as 20V) from electrostatic discharge is a common phenomenon in manufacturing, assembly, and testing of electronics. Current electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention programs need to be improved because of increasing ESD sensitivity. Most ESD programs are predicted on protecting electronics from failures at or above 100 volts, not addressing the performance issues of the class 0 devices which are more vulnerable to ESD. Even ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007, a standard that is designed for the protection of electric and electronic parts, assemblies and equipment, is not able to fully anticipate or adequately prescribe solutions to problems specific to state-of-the-art technology.

In order to understand the ESD failures, one needs to understand the numerous mechanisms that can make an electrostatically charged object to rapidly discharge to another object when both are brought into contact. Electrostatic induction is a phenomenon that refers to a redistribution of electrical charge in an object, caused by the influence (electrostatic field) of nearby charges. Assume that an ESDS device is placed on a grounded table mat in the vicinity of an electric field and lying on or near the mat is a charged object. Because the device is grounded, its voltage is zero. As soon as this ESDS device is lifted from the mat, it loses or picks up electrons around the object. Now, if the charged device touches any other conductor, the discharge is capable of destroying the device.

Voltage suppression is a phenomenon that is used to prevent sensitive electronics from discharging, by raising the capacitance of a charged object. If a material merely suppresses electrostatic field instead of discharging items that are placed on them, then it wouldn't be categorized as a voltage suppressor.

Companies around the globe have invested heavily in ESD programs, and their investments paid dividends. Charged-device model (CDM) is a model used by many organizations to characterize the susceptibility of an electronic device to damage from electrostatic discharge. The CDM model is an alternative to the HBM (human-body model) that is a simulation of the discharge which might occur when an individual touches an electronic device. The human-body model (HBM) establishes the necessary test procedures required to model a testing event.

In CDM model, devices are exposed to a charge at a standardized voltage level, and then tested for survival. If the device withstands this voltage level, it is tested at the next level by placing a charged device on a work surface that is too conductive or placing it in highly conductive packaging. If the device passes this test as well, it is tested at the next level and so on, until the device fails. The more tests a device will pass, the more are chances that it will not be picked up and placed down by a non conductive fixture, a static charge or discharge.

The three most common examples of avoiding HBM threats include wrist straps, conductive footwear and ESD flooring. ESD flooring makes a perfect choice for those who are looking for protection from static discharge. Quality ESD flooring, combined with conductive footwear help keep body voltage less than 10 volts, eliminating almost all HBM threats. ESD floors can be tested for HBM discharge by attaching an individual to a charge plate monitor with a wrist strap. The person standing on the floor will move his or her feet periodically to break ground. If the voltage remains at or close to zero when the feet are lifted, the ESD floor is bleeding accumulated charges away from the person. If the subject retains a static charge when the feet are lifted, the ESD floor is just suppressing the charge.

Choosing suitable and cost-effective ESD and conductive flooring may seem like a insurmountable task, for many facility executives. Many high technology industries have buildings that may contain different processes in various areas of the manufacturing floor. Further complicating things, each department may have different flooring needs from durability, stain resistance, chemical resistance, or electrical resistance. Add in an abundance of conflicting ESD specifications and misleading data from anti static flooring manufacturers, and facilities managers can get very confused rather quickly. Oftentimes, a committee may be involved with the decision, which can further complicate the matter.

There are various products available in the marketplace, as well as numerous installation contractors. An experienced, knowledgeable, professional contractor, who can provide a turn-key installation, should be your starting point.

There are various products available including ESD Epoxy and Polyurethane coatings (for high traffic areas), to Carpet, Rubber, and Vinyl.

    ESD Vinyl

The only ESD vinyl floors to consider, are called solid vinyl tile (SVT). It requires plenty of maintenance, but when properly maintained, SVT vinyl is attractive. The material is relatively inexpensive, but installation and annual maintenance costs can be prohibitive (at least $1 per sq ft per year). This can add up fast. Over five years, this adds over $5 per sq ft to the original cost. There are true no-wax ESD vinyl floors, however, they can be costly, and should only be used in very light traffic areas. High speed buffing (burnishing) is often recommended for cleaning, which can get costly (heat from the buffing machine melts and then reseals the floor). An alternative to this is low speed buffing, using a static control spray buff formula. The maintenance cost of SVT conductive tiles is greater than maintaining carpet and rubber.

    Static Dissipative Carpet Tile

Carpet tiles are installed with clean, fast-drying release adhesive. The tiles can be installed directly over old VCT or concrete. If you are tired of the maintenance and waxing an SDT dissipative vinyl ESD floor, then carpet tile may be a good choice. Of course, carpet has its disadvantages. Carpet is not well suited to accommodate heavy loads, such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Carpet also has a low resistance to chemicals and solvents.

    ESD Rubber

Conductive rubber greatest advantage, is that it is effective at preventing static in areas where grounded footwear is not, or cannot be used-places such as computer labs, command centers, and 911 call centers. (IMPORTANT: you must be sure that the chosen rubber is conductive and not static dissipative; static dissipative rubber floor conductivity exceeds the recommended system resistance (less than 35 megohms) requirement of ESD S20.20-2007). Ergonomically, rubber has better anti-fatigue factor than epoxy or vinyl; Rubber is less porous than vinyl, which makes it easier to clean, wash and maintain. However, rubber's installed cost is the highest of all options.

    ESD Epoxy

High quality epoxy and urethanes are easy to install, low maintenance, durable, attractive, and cost effective. Solid colors, high gloss, and satin finishes are available. Patterns, multiple colors and textures are even available. An epoxy system must be specified, which will be in compliance with ESD S20.20-2007. This requires resistance to be less than 35million ohms. Many products on the market do not meet this standard. For explosion proofing, it must be below 1 million ohms. An applicator with suitable experience and knowledge, can ensure that these standards are met. Within facilities where constant heavy loads and high traffic are the norm, epoxies are usually the only practical flooring material. No waxing is required, and low square foot costs can make this a smart choice. One drawback of epoxy is the lack of color stability, and a smooth surface, which can get slippery when wet. Also, when exposed to UV rays, epoxy will tend to amber or yellow. These problems are solved by specifying an epoxy base coat, with a UV stable ESD polyurethane finish coating. This system provide a satin non-slip finish, which with have excellent long term color stability.

    Combining Different Materials

In order to accommodate different needs in various departments, you can combine different flooring solutions, for different areas within the facility. You may install conductive carpet tiles in the assembly area then install a perimeter high traffic area of an epoxy conductive flooring system, to handle the majority of the forklift traffic. Another possibility, is to install vinyl tile over access floors and an epoxy product in heavy traffic areas.

In industries where electronic components are involved, electrostatic discharge can lead to failure of sensitive devices. An ESD floor must consist of materials designed to specific electrical resistance requirements. High performance ESD floor coverings with static dissipative properties will perform even better if certain factors such as: condition of the subfloor, the cost to repair and maintain the ESD floor, and the experience and integrity of the applicator are taken into consideration.

Static discharge, also known as electrostatic discharge or ESD, is caused by the discharge of electrons from a static charge that can build up on an insulating body. Numerous modern electronic devices are very sensitive to ESD because of their very thin layer of insulating glass that can get damaged when exposed to as little as 40V of discharge or less. Electrostatic discharge has been documented as a significant contributor to serious problems ranging from computer freeze-ups and dropped phone calls to failures of semiconductors and shutdowns of mission critical operations.

The need to manufacture integrated components that use less power and improve circuit design and operation will continue to generate significant challenges for designers to reanalyze conventional building materials, and design static free environments and stringent static control procedures so static discharge cannot become a problem in the first place.

ESD floors make an effective method of controlling static discharge that can result in significant damage, injury and financial loss, as well as providing conformance to the latest recommendations of EOS / ESD 2020-2007. Electrostatic dissipative floors are recommended for use in electronic assembly and test areas, flammable storage and processing, and munitions areas. There are a number of terms which are sometimes used incorrectly by sellers to describe static control flooring. Conductive flooring is not the same thing as static dissipative flooring. Conductive flooring is a floor that has low BVG (body voltage generation) readings, offering high levels of protection for your products whereas static dissipative flooring products are engineered for use where static discharge control is required, but the resistance level of the flooring does not need to be as low as that provided by conductive flooring. Similarly, the term "antistatic flooring" is different as it helps eliminate static electricity by providing a controlled low resistance. An antistatic floor dissipates charges from components you're working on as you lay them on the floor. If conductive flooring also exhibits antistatic properties, it will usually meet or exceed any static control requirement for body voltage generation.

In the case of ESD flooring, the two most important ESD standards for flooring are ESD STM 97.1-1999 Floor Materials and Footwear and ESD STM 97.2-1999 Floor Materials and Footwear. ESD STM 97.1-1999 Floor Materials and Footwear standard recommends a flooring footwear total system resistance of no greater than 35 megohms. ESD STM 97.2-1999 Floor Materials and Footwear states that no ESD floor should allow the generation of more than 100 volts when tested in conjunction with a person wearing conductive footwear.

    CONCRETE MOISTURE

The majority of ESD flooring failures that occur, are due to elevated moisture and alkalinity levels in the substrate. Moisture levels should be no higher than 3 lb per 1000 square feet per 24 hours. Moisture problems can be detected easily by pulling samples and performing ASTM moisture tests. ASTM-F-1869 - Standard Test Method for Measuring Moisture Vapor Rate of Concrete Subfloor Using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride (the maximum allowed transmission rate is 3 pounds per 1000 square feet) and ASTM F-2170 - Standard Test Method for Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slabs Using in Sutu Probes (the maximum relative humidity should be below 80%) can be used to measure moisture vapor rate and relative humidity of a concrete subfloor respectively. Moisture and alkalinity problems can be avoided by filling the cracks before installation, leveling and patching the sub-floor, and installing vapor barriers.

    MAINTENANCE

The cost to repair and maintain an ESD floor should also be taken into account. Vinyl static dissipative flooring is the costliest and most difficult to maintain flooring because of its high buffing costs. Broadloom Carpet ESD flooring requires regular vacuuming and yearly wet extraction because of its vulnerability to stains. Rubber ESD flooring will also need periodic scrubbing with a single disc machine to maintain a shine on the surface of the floor. Epoxy ESD flooring needs to be cleaned regularly. If it has a polyurethane topcoat, it may be re-applied every 10 years or so, to keep the floor looking brand new.

    SELECTION OF APPLICATOR

Always evaluate a supplier's integrity before purchasing an ESD floor. A applicator with many successful years of service may be more stable than a new business. Make sure that your ESD floor is installed by a trained, certified contractor who is well-versed in identifying and understanding improper flooring conditions and has the training and experience to make the right decision keeping in view your needs and budget. Remember that many companies are merely manufacturers or distributors, with no installation experience. They may know all the ESD specifications and have the best product in the world, but they may not be a trained applicator, in order to properly install the product.

In the last part of this series I promised to tell you why you should *not* do media interviews. I'm going to keep my promise right now. Frequently (far too frequently actually) we get phone calls, faxes and emails in my office from people in a panic. They have one of the following two "emergencies":

1 - something just happened in the news that directly relates to their product or service. They know that if they can get a press release out *right away*, telling the media about their product or service, they'll make a fortune (and they're right!). Unfortunately, they don't know how to write a press release.

2 - they sent out a press release and now one of the "Big Guys" (Ellen, CNN, USA Today, etc.) has called for an interview - but they don't know what to say or how to do an effective interview

They either want us to email them samples of properly written press releases, bios and Q&A sheets they can use as models or they want us to teach them what to say to the people who called and how to do an effective interview. They want the information *NOW* and they want it for free.

None of these people have my publicity kit. They may have glanced over a few issues of my ezine. They haven't made any effort to learn what to do but they want to cash in. Our response is always the same... No!

In addition, we unsubscribe them from my ezine. We don't want people like that as subscribers. The audacity of them! Many of you have made the investment of time and money to learn my system. Now you're reaping the benefits. Along come these slackers wanting a shortcut to success. It just doesn't happen that way. I'm also concerned for them for another reason.

They have no idea what they're doing. So they'll either send out a lousy press release or they'll screw up the interview. Then when they bomb from coast-to-coast, they'll blame it on publicity. They'll talk about how publicity doesn't work, how my system doesn't work and on and on.

If you've been a subscriber for any amount of time you know how much I love publicity. It's given me and many, many other people everything we could possibly want. When people try to give publicity a bad name, I'm not a happy camper.

Many people think that if Ellen would just call and have them on her show, they'd hit the jackpot. The truth is that if you're not prepared, your shot on Ellen could be one of the biggest nightmares of your life. When people first purchase my publicity kit, I urge them to begin by doing interviews on tiny radio stations and with [tiny newspapers. Do three or four of these to get used to doing interviews to see how the whole thing works.

Once you get comfortable with the tiny radio stations and newspapers, move up to larger outlets and add some television. Then move up to the big time – Ellen, CNN, the New York Times, etc. By that time you have experience. You know what to say. You know how to do effective interviews. You're comfortable and you're having a ball. This whole process doesn't take a long time...and it's lots of fun. But do it any other way and you're flirting with trouble. The analogy I use is someone trying to drive from New York to St. Louis withouthaving any idea where St. Louis is. He could wander around hoping to find St. Louis. Or, he could get a map.

In my publicity kit I provide you with a step-by-step tested, proven road map to success with the media. If you're looking for the system that works, stay with me. If you're looking for a magic shortcut to vast fortunes by next Thursday, hook up with the snake oil salesmen who peddle that trash. But don't come to me for the genie in the bottle.

When you follow the proven path, you're virtually guaranteed success. But when you start doing interviews before you're ready, I'm betting you're going to bump into trouble - big time! To me, publicity is the key to the land of opportunity. Do it the right way and you can hit the jackpot. Do it the wrong way and you'll wonder what happened to you.

Next time I'll give you the details of my most embarrassing encounter with the media. I'll also tell you exactly how to avoid having the same thing happen to you.

Home ownership is an exciting endeavor, but it should be done with careful consideration. All too many people rush into receiving their mortgages. This can prove to be devastating considering failing to take the time to get the best rate available as well as the best customer service options is a mistake that will haunt you for years.

If you have been banking with a particular institution for a period of time, this is often a good place to start in the search for the ideal mortgage. They are more likely to work with you on a personal basis since you do business with them, and they will often go the extra mile to make sure you get the best rate available as well as make accommodations on your behalf.

It should be expected that the potential mortgage lender treats you with utmost respect. If, for example, you sign up for a 275,000 dollar loan at 6.5 percent interest, the lender is going be receiving over a 30 year time frame more than 40,000 dollars in interest. If you are receive less than ideal treatment on the first visit, it is probably a good idea to take your business elsewhere as this is a good example of what you can expect in the years to come.

Some people choose to hire a mortgage broker to help them find a good deal. It is worth mentioning for those who are considering this option that mortgage brokers do not have any special access to good deals. While they do possess the expertise necessary to guide you in the right direction, they are often known to do just the opposite and persuade you to pursue a higher rate than you deserve in an effort to receive a higher commission.

If you decide you do want to hire a broker, it is a good idea to do some research first. Speak with some of their recent customers to see how their experience went and what rate they received. If they procured good mortgages, there's a chance they could for do the same for you.

Through the years, many homeowners complained about getting scammed from lenders. This usually happen by getting the homeowner to sign for a loan with a low-rate. The low rate attracts the homeowner, but later on, the rate (which is usually adjustable) changes its interest rate to a new very high rate. The homeowner monthly payment end up doubled. We usually recommend homeowners to consider fixed rate mortgage instead of variable loan to avoid any future risks.

Finding a lender is certainly not an easy task, and this should have done very carefully. We strongly recommend you to checkout services like Mortgage Examiner, in which we offer matching service between you and the lenders. Mortgage Examiner offers business listings for reputable lenders in almost every city in the US. We highly recommend that you either require the free quote or checkout their listings in your local area to find a lender. Interview lenders, and ask them question. Then, make your choice.

Article Title: DS Domination Review: Is Drop Shipping the Key to Success?

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

This DS Domination review will explain the program that was put together by Roger Langille. It is the first Internet platform that lets a person harness the power of famous brands in order to gain individual success. Here is a closer look at the program.

What is it and How Does it Work?

DS Domination is a program that uses a drop shipping method to gain income. Drop shipping lets a person purchase a product from another site and sell it on Ebay or similar platforms for a lower cost while maintaining a profit.

This service is easy to follow and is totally automated. The basic premise of DS domination provides training on the best ways to earn income through Ebay sales and Amazon purchasing. A person will need to pay $19.95 each month to begin the service. However, a person can earn discounts by referring new members. After a person reaches a certain income, it is possible to subscribe to a more expanded plan. This can cost up to $120, but it will bring more training and support.

How To Make Money With This System

The simplest way to make money through this system is to become an affiliate and take part in the affiliate network. This network helps a person earn commissions on referrals. Level One referrals usually provide 50 percent commissions. Level Six to 10 will earn a one percent commission. Money is also earned when a certain sales volume is reached during the month. When sales are driven, a person has the ability to earn up to $1000 a week.

    Who Should Consider This Program?

Unlike other gimmicks, a DS Domination review should explain that this program is perfect for everyone. Any individual who wants to begin an online business to earn income should consider this system. There is no need to build up a brand or perfect marketing skills.

    PROS of This System

A person does not have to recruit others to join this program. This means that a person earns income on individual merit. Drop shipping has many positives as well. A person will not need to physically take control of large quantities of product.

    CONS of This System

If you want to earn money as an affiliate then you will have market the DS Domination program using your affiliate link. You will person need to recruit people and build a team to establish a successful downline. In order to make money on a site like eBay, a person will need to form a competitive business. Competition is the biggest disadvantage of drop shipping.

    Testimonials For This Program

A DS domination review should mention that most people who use this system have found great earning potential. Although most people have upgraded to the Elite level, people at the bottom have enjoyed success as well. One woman loves the fact that she can make money without leaving home. Also, there are no boring meetings and no need to chase employees or recruit. Another user claims that motivation and determination are the only things needed to earn a solid income.

    Final Recommendation

This DS Domination review should end with a recommendation to people who are looking for a relatively simple way to make money. Most people choose this program because it allows money to be earned immediately. Finally, it is not necessary to recruit affiliates because it comes down to a person and his or her products.

Article Title: Here Are Some Brilliant Ideas That You Can Copy About How to Use Banners to Get Publicity

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Several years ago I held a contest for my newsletter subscribers. I asked them to come up with ideas on how to use banners to get publicity for a business.

Now, I'm going to tell you what their ideas were. By the time you finish reading, you'll have new publicity ideas you never thought of; ideas you can put to work for you right now.

The first winner was Steve Boutelle. Here's Steve's idea:

" Remember "Where's Waldo?" and "Herb?" Let's take the banner and place it all over town, picking a new location every other day. Create a contest in conjunction with a local radio/TV station. Have each day's winner be the first one to bring a photo of themselves with the banner at the place where it's been hidden. Place each winner's name in a grand prize drawing. Plan with the station the placement of the banner in unique locations in advance. Announce on radio/TV and in newspaper."

The second winner was Jeffrey Hedquist. Here's his idea:

Create a banner that makes a superhero, celebrity or star out a customer and leave a space in the banner for a person's head. Take a picture of your customers in front of banner when they visit, and give them the photo to take home, show at the office, school, etc. Example: dentist could design a banner that positions client as a "healthy tooth hero." A skydiving school could have one for "Birdman of (city)" (Paul's comment: These photos should also be sent to the community newspapers.)

And the third winner was Jill Rigby. Jill suggested:

"Place a question on a banner that your book will answer then place the banner on the frontage road to the mall. Place a second banner further down the road with the title of your book and contact info. For example: FIRST BANNER: Don't! Don't! Don't! Are you tired of saying that to your children? SECOND BANNER: We're here to help you: Manners of the Heart at Home. Ask for it at your local bookstore or visit our website: www.mannersoftheheart.com

And here's one more bonus idea. It comes from my friend Markus Allen. He says:

"Why not get your banner displayed during the Super Bowl (without paying a fortune for the mention)? Make your prospects and offer. Have them create a sign (any size, color, or shape) I'll pay $1,000 plus $1,000 per second it's displayed. And if it's caught on camera at least 15 seconds, you'll double the payout.

What's the catch... the sign must be big enough to be seen by my aging grandmother. Make sure the sign reads: FREE and Low-Cost Marketing Tips & Ideas www.markusallen.com Would you pay a few thousand dollars for the same publicity big companies pay millions for?" Do you think you could take one of these ideas, along with a vinyl banner and turn it into a bunch of publicity for you and your business? I've got a bunch of darned brilliant subscribers. Next time I'm going to tell you how to use postcards in your publicity campaigns. Don't dare miss that one.

In my last post I promised to reveal my most embarrassing publicity episode (yep, I have them too). Well, here goes. All the grim details. Plus I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I had read all the books in the library and the bookstore about how to get publicity, but I'll be darned if I could get any of them to work for me. So I set out to develop my own formula - one I knew would work. It took me almost 20 years to develop my formula and my entire publicity system.

Sure enough, my formula was working. I was getting more and more publicity each time I used it. I tested my formula every step of the way to be sure the changes I made still worked. Then "It" happened ' my chance for the BIG time ' my chance to be on the Phil Donahue Show. But there was a problem. I had absolutely no experience on a show like that.

So here was my opportunity to be seen coast to coast and either rocket up to fame and fortune or crash and burn. I'm a big-time risk taker, so I went for it.

The day came to tape the show. I arrived at the studio all full of myself. Phil Donahue came into the dressing room and introduced himself. In my mind I was saying "Phil, this is your lucky day. Having me on your show is going to make you a star." The producer came in and told me it was time to go out on the set in front of the audience. I have no trouble at all speaking before audiences. It's actually a real rush for me.

I went out on the set, sat in my seat and looked out at the audience before the show began. In my mind I was saying "Audience, this is your lucky day. You're going to witness Phil becoming a star thanks to me." The show began, I was introduced and the worst hour of my life began.

I have no idea what was going on in my brain, but it had nothing to do with the questions I was being asked. You would have thought I was auditioning for an "Idiot of the Month" contest. I totally, irrevocably, irreversibly, permanent, indelibly, absolutely, bombed from coast to coast. I made no sense at all. Phil was looking at me like I was speaking a language never introduced to humanity.

When the show was over, he didn't even acknowledge me. My interview will never be one of the clips you see on "The Best of Phil Donahue". When the show was aired the following week, not one of my friends even mentioned it to me - that's how bad it was.

In the last issue I told you that you have to work your way up to the "Big Time". If you jump the starting line and try right for the top, you may have a "Hartunian moment".

There is a happy ending to this story, though. Yes, the Donahue interview was a nightmare. But I broke into the "Big Time" in a big way. From that moment on I was able to say "I was on the Donahue Show". Once you can say that, the media sits up and takes notice. Curiously enough, even though my Donahue appearance was a disaster, Big Time media sources have sought me out ever since.I quickly learned my lesson, practiced my interview technique and have done over 2,000 interviews from that time until now without a hitch. Shortly after the Donahue show I was asked to be on the Jenny Jones show. That was one of the high points of my life. The show went perfectly.

The most important thing I got out of that experience was the ability to teach others how not to repeat my mistakes. That became the finishing touch to my publicity kit. I suffered so you could avoid the same fate. (Aren't I one heck of a guy?) Now, a little secret. When I speak at seminars around the country, I show about 10 seconds of that Donahue interview. That's the only good 10 seconds of the entire hour interview - and it's good only because I'm not saying anything! I also show video clips of several other shows where the memories are far better.

But the point of the videos I show is clear. If you follow a tested, proven system for getting publicity and you do all of your homework, success is almost 100% guaranteed. Since I was blazing a new trail and creating a new system for getting publicity, I didn't have anyone to show me the way. So I was on my own. You certainly can go off on your own, but trust me, it's not worth it. Follow a successful trail blazed by someone who already has made the mistakes.
