In January 2014, a Fox News report titled "Cybergambling Returns—and This Time It's Legal" delighted several US gamblers who were dying to play online casino games for real money legally from the cozy comforts of their homes.

The report is all about how Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, legalized online poker and online casino games, expressing hopes of generating as much as $1 billion in legal gambling revenues and claiming 17% of it as tax for the state. Although New Jersey wasn't the first US state to legalize online gambling, it was the first to do so completely. Nevada and Delaware had already done so last year, but in limited forms; and to date, Nevada remains a poker-only state.

The first online gambling laws were created in Antigua and Barbuda in 1994, enabling operators to launch their online casino, online poker, and online sports betting businesses. The US struggled, and is still struggling, to regulate online activities, especially gambling, although it has come a long way. Till recently, US lawmakers and gambling attorneys believed that certain old laws such as the Federal Wire Act of 1961 can be interpreted as applicable to online gambling too. And in 2006, the law that had the most severe impact on the online gambling industry was enacted—the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

Although inadequate in several ways, it made it illegal for banks and financial institutions to process gambling-related financial transaction, leading to the exodus of several operators such as Party Poker and payment processors such as Neteller from the US market. A few operators such as Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars continued to operate in the market, but things got worse in April 2011 when the US Department of Justice (DoJ) began cracking down on them, seizing their domain names, freezing their accounts, and indicting their executive officers on various counts of money laundering, bank fraud, and illegal gambling.

Then, on Dec 23, 2012, the DoJ did something that opened a floodgate of fresh online gambling opportunities to individual US states. It published a re-interpretation of the Federal Wire Act, announcing that this law no longer applies to online casino and online poker gaming. The first states to grab the opportunity were Delaware and Nevada. The first state to draw up a regulatory framework for online poker was Nevada, and the first fully licensed and regulated online poker room, called Ultimate Poker, was launched in Nevada in April 2013.

Today, there are plenty of exciting legal online gambling options in Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey. Although open only to residents of those states, there are plans to sign interstate compacts and merge player pools to create a more lucrative gambling atmosphere.

But many experts are of the opinion that state-level legalization of online gambling, especially online poker, could lead to a fall in the industry. Citing examples of a similar decline in EU member states, they say that online poker can thrive in the US only if legalized at the federal level.

At its 23rd edition, the biennial exhibition EuroBlech is still the most important event in the sheet metal processing field. It is the most eagerly awaited event and it is considered a valid launching pad for innovations and novelties.

Cutting and deformation are part of the main products' categories offered by the Hannover fair. The whole chain of sheet metal processing is involved: from those who deal with parts supply for different types of machines, tools, and also safety, electrical, electronic devices that manage safety protocols, all this gives just a little overview of this exhibition.

Eurolech is at the heart of a business microcosm where technical innovation, modernity and novelties are the basis of this event's importance. The entire globe is an active part of this universe: exhibitors and visitors come from all over the world, thus confirming how important this global fair is. This exhibition is the author of an accurate portrait of business trends: thanks to the huge participation of foreign exhibitors and visitors, EuroBlech is able to keep trace of news and tendencies, on a global level, of this field that keeps growing.

Today we live in a cultural sphere full of interconnections where distances tend to become insignificant, this is the main reason why we must not forget the "global" factor. In dealing with different realities and cultures, it is fundamental to keep in mind all we said above: distant and different cultures require mutual knowledge and comprehension, diversity should be transformed in a point of contact, so that the birth of stable and efficient business relations is possible.

Many companies tend to keep their novelties hidden, in order to present them at EuroBlech, and Vicla too will seize this great chance. We will present a totally restyled machine, that will surprise everyone who will see it.

The desire to renew oneself, to grow, and to give always the best, together with the opportunity offered by the Hannover exhibition, is what pushed Vicla to present a new product. The new machine is going to be innovative, functional and fascinating, moreover it is the result of a wise combination of utmost technology, design and attentive care for the details, without letting behind the aesthetical aspect. All this will result in a practical, safe machine that will assure top performances at every usage.

Hall 17 - G11 are the coordinates that will allow you to find a very special press brake. Vicla will showcase one of its major selling product, a PSH-Evolution 110/32, with a series of optional that confirm all above. Though each option per se is known and used, what makes the real difference is the combination of everything.

Often used to present news and innovation, this event will see a big statement from Vicla: we can manage the most specialized and complex needs, anybody can turn to us, being sure that any requirement will be fully satisfied.

Experience and care are what makes the difference, Italian companies know it very well, and this is the real reason at the basis of our success.

Windows 7 remains to be one of the most popular choices of operating systems for school, office, and home use. Windows 7 is faster than the operating systems that precede it, and it is more efficient in making use of the computer system's resources. It also has a lot of great features that make it more user friendly, and its interface is also appealing and easy to understand.

However, this is not to say that it is perfect. It can also encounter some problems, many of which can be pretty frustrating especially if you've just recently upgraded to Windows 7 and are not yet familiar with the operating system. Luckily, these problems can easily be solved.

My Operating System Seems Slow

Windows7 can use up a lot of your computer's resources because of a number of visual effects. These features may be a bit too heavy for your computer's system memory and graphics card. If this is the case, disabling these features can help speed up your computer's performance.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type the word "performance" and then click on "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows."

2. Once a Performance Options window appears, go to the Visual Effects tab. Un-tick the option that says "Adjust for best appearance," and select "Adjust for best performance" instead to maximize performance speed.

3. If you wish to retain a nice interface and still have a faster performance, select "Custom" and tick the box that says "Use visual styles on windows and buttons."

Windows Aero Isn't Running

If there seems to be something wrong with the graphics on your computer, say perhaps transparency is off, then the Aero theme isn't running.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type the word "Aero" and then click on "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects.

2. An Aero troubleshooting wizard will come up. Click on Next. This will identify the problem and resolve it.

If this isn't what's causing the problem, then Aero may not be enabled in your Windows Registry.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type "regedit."

2. Once you have launched Regedit, browse to KEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>DWM.

3. Browse through the registry and look for the "EnableAeroPeek" entry. If the value is set to (0) then it means it is disabled. Edit it to change the value to (1) to enable Aero.

DVD Drive Not Found

Several users have reported issues in which their computer can't find their optical drive. In this case, you may have to go to your Windows Registry to edit its value once again.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type "regedit."

2. Once you have launched Regedit, browse to "HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Class".

3. Locate the right-hand panel and delete "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters."

4. Restart your computer to save the changes.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, try this instead.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type "Disk Management."

2. Select the link that says "Create and format hard disk partitions."

3. The Disk Management window will be launched. Locate the optical drive icon and right-click on it.

4. Click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths" and then click on the "Change" button. Choose a new letter for the drive.

5. Restart your computer to save the changes.

Incompatibility with Older Programs

Before making the switch to Windows 7, you may have been advised already to check on which of the existing programs on your computer are compatible with the operating system and which ones have to be upgraded to a newer version. If you still have some programs that aren't compatible with Windows 7, you can still run them by using Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.

1. Locate the program's installation file. Right-click on it and select Properties.

2. Click on the Compatibility tab, then tick the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

3. On the drop-down menu, select the latest version of Windows that runs the program.

4. Re-launch the program.

Missing Windows Explorer Tools

You may find that some of the Explorer tools that you have gotten used to in previous Windows OS version are missing in Windows 7, and some of them are not in the Start Menu. Do not panic because this does not mean that these tools are no longer available in your new operating system. They are simply not showing on your computer, but this can be easily fixed.

1. Click on Start. On the search field, type "Folder Options."

2. Select the Folder Options link on the results and a window will open.

3. Tick the box that says "Show all folders." Click on OK, and all your system folders will immediately reappear.

Boosting your system's speed is surprisingly easy. All you need is some knowledge regarding your Operating System and the right tools for the job. Lucky for you Windows already has some installed tools that you can use in order to speed up your startup and fix errors that may be hampering PC performance. Some of the tools that you can use include the Windows Experience Index, Disk Cleanup, and the Check disk app. The Windows Experience Index allows you to measure the capabilities of your computer's software and hardware configuration.

The Windows Experience Index will allow you to measure the capabilities of each hardware or software installed within your computer. Those measurements are then placed in a number scheme called a based score. A high base score means that your Windows will perform better than an OS with a lower base score, especially when utilizing resource intensive apps. In order to open this nifty feature all you need to do is to open the performance information and tools icon found in the control panel screen.

For disk cleanup and check disk, both apps can be found on the Start menu screen. The disk cleanup tool allows you to clean all the junk files and unused cache on your Operating System. On the other hand, the Check Disk tool will allow you to find any problems with your computer's registry. It will check on missing indexes and strings that are necessary for your programs. You can actually type in "chkdsk" on your command prompt in order to activate the check disk tool. In most OS, it will prompt you if you want to run as administrator, just type in your administrator password in order to run the app. Both these tools should be opened in monthly so that you will be able to remove any DLL errors or any registry problems within Windows. If the problems still persist then try typing in "chkdsk /f /r" on your command prompt screen, by typing this command you will be able to activate the extra feature of Check Disk and you will be able to fix those bad sectors on your hard disk.

There are several other tools inside your OS which can help your PC run smoother, one of which is the device manager app. The device manager allows you to check the various drivers that are installed within your hard disk. As you may already know, drivers are needed in order to identify the different hardware devices installed in your PC. Drivers provide manufacturer instructions so that your Windows will be able to know how to properly use your printer or your web cam. There are basically two types of drivers that are installed on your computer, one of which is the digitally signed and the other is the unknown type. The digitally signed ones are actually those types of drivers that are approved by the manufacturer while the unknown types are the ones which are created by different programmers. It is important for you to only use the digitally signed drivers since they are safer and they are tested. On the other hand, if you are unable to find the one that is given by the manufacturer then you can just use the unknown types. Just remember to install an antivirus and antimalware program in order to find out if the file is destructive or not.

Along with installing the right driver, you also need to install their updates. This is usually the best course of action when it comes to system errors related to some DLL files. Updates are actually additional codes and instructions provided by the hardware makers. Those updates are important so that your computer will be able to run smoothly and so that there will be no conflicts with your devices. In order to get those additional codes all you need to do is go through the device manager found in control panel and just click on the update button for each device. You can also manually check the update through the use of the additional programs provided by the manufacturer. Usually, the OEM of the hardware will include an update feature so that you will no longer need to search the internet.

If there are any other problems with your PC then you can run the troubleshooter app. The troubleshooter program can be found on your control panel screen. Click on the Start button and on the search box, type in "troubleshooter". You can also click on the icon of this app which is found on the system and security screen. Those are just some of the added features on Windows which you can use in order to speed up you PC.

Deep within your computer are dark forces that are lurking to destroy your Operating System. Those dark forces are equipped with some crafty tools, which allow them to stay hidden. They could cause errors and corrupt vital system files. The only way to find those dark elements is through the use of various tools. So, how can you find those hidden errors found within your computer? There are various applications that can help you find problems while at the same time speed up your OS.

One of the many tools that you can use is System Information. This application is designed to help you with the different startup programs found inside your PC. Startup programs are actually those apps that open once you run Windows. Some of them are necessary since they are required by your other applications but some are downright nasty. Along with startup programs, this app can actually help you discover some conflicts within your hardware, the types of devices connected in your motherboard, and the drivers installed.

You can actually spot malicious files and viruses with the help of System Information but it can be a challenge. If you know how to look at the startup apps found on your information screen then you will be able to find those malicious programs that are secretly running on your OS. If you are having a hard time in locating them you just need to look at the manufacturer. Most viruses have an unknown or blank manufacturer. The virus will also be running in an unknown folder. Once you find the virus, you only need to search for the folder and delete that specific file.

If you are still having problems in dealing with those malicious programs then you can just rely on a freeware antivirus and antimalware. Windows actually has a free security tool found on its website. All you have to do is to download the program and install it in your computer. Download the update for the security app and then run a full search. If its spots any viruses then you can either clean it or just place that file within the quarantine folder. The best thing about the antivirus program provided by Windows is that you can also run it in boot mode; this means that when your registry is affected by the virus then this efficient tool will be able to successfully remove the virus from the registry.

Another tool is the System Restore app. This app is designed to help you restore your computer when there is already damage within its registry. If your Operating System is not running well after you installed a specific program then you can just restore your OS to a certain point in time that is recorded within the System Restore checkpoints. The only catch with this tool is that it will never work unless you turn it on. Hence you need to open this app once you have used your PC for the first time. Select the date as to when you want to restore your computer and just press enter. If you are having problems with the restoration then you can do this in safe mode. Windows safe mode can be opened through resetting your computer then press F8 while on boot mode. Your PC will then prompt you if you want to start with Safety Mode. Load this feature and you will now be able to fully restore your computer.

If all else fails and you are still unable to remove the errors or the virus within your OS, then you may have to use the recovery disk provided by Windows. Yes, there is actually a recovery CD or disk which is provided by the OEM. If you cannot find the recovery disk then you can just create a new one.

Another way to resolve the issue within your computer is through deleting some programs. There are actually times wherein one program will be in direct conflict with another app. This usually occurs when you install two programs with the same use. For instance, you might have installed an antivirus which is in conflict with another antivirus app that is currently within your OS. You need to choose the right antivirus program for you and you need to delete the other one. This is also the solution for conflicting system cleaners and video players. In order to delete a program, you need to use the uninstall feature found on the app's folder. You can also use the "Add or Remove" feature found within Control Panel, just remember to check the programs first before you uninstall them.

The Windows Registry is an important database in your computer that stores all of the options, settings and configurations of every hardware, applications, and programs on your computer. Every time you install any software on your computer, its values and settings are embedded into the Windows Registry, where you may later on go to configure these settings or perform necessary troubleshooting steps in case they encounter or cause any problems.

A poorly maintained registry can cause a lot of problems on your computer. Not only will it slow down your computer, but it will also create errors that will cause some of your applications and programs not to run properly.

Causes

To avoid registry errors, it will be helpful to know what common actions can cause them.

* Uninstalling an application or program improperly can leave fragments of registry entries that may cause problems with your computer's start-up process.

* Downloading files or installing anything that may have viruses, Trojans and spyware will most likely cause registry errors. Their entries in Windows Registry are harder to remove manually, and uninstalling them can lead to the above mentioned cause. They can also change file association and even prevent executable files form properly functioning.

* Errors can also come from keeping too many unnecessary files and programs. They can use up your system's resources without causing any real benefit to the computer system.

3 Most Common Types

Blue Screen of Death – This is the most common type of registry error. It occurs when your registry has improperly configured settings, which causes the computer to crash and display a frequent blue screen error.

DLL Errors – Another common type of registry errors, these occur as a result of missing DLL files that help run the executable files of one or more applications. Because of this, error messages will frequently pop-up on your computer, and some applications will slow down, freeze, or fail to run.

Start-up Errors – Registry start-up errors can happen when there are start-up items that are either missing or improperly configured. They can also be caused by viruses and some malware. These may slow down your computer during boot-up and sometimes even prevent your computer from starting up.

Tips for Preventing and Resolving Registry Errors

* When removing programs and applications form your computer, do not simply delete them. Uninstall them properly from the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. If there is no option to uninstall the program from here, you may have to use a removal or uninstall tool form the software's manufacturer.

* Scan your computer regularly to get rid of viruses and malware.

* Don't download any files, documents, games, programs or other applications from unauthorized websites. Many of these downloads carry with them Trojans that will embed entries on your Windows Registry.

* Always have a back-up registry so that you can restore them in case you encounter any system errors.

What to do when your computer has registry errors that need to be fixed?

* In case your computer already has registry errors, it is possible to manually edit the settings on your Windows computer's registry. However, while most Windows operating systems include tools that can do this (through MSCONFIG), it is not wise to attempt to fix them unless you are a professional or you have knowledge on how to do it. Editing your registry entries incorrectly may cause further damage to your computer rather than resolve them.

* You may also use free registry cleaning tools that can be downloaded online. These registry cleaning tools will start by scanning your registry for any errors. They will then repair missing file extensions and remove any registry entries that are no longer needed to fix any existing errors and prevent them from causing any more problems to your registry.

* When all else fails, you may seek the help of a professional to perform a complete reinstall of the programs that are causing problems on your computer. In worse cases, you may have to request for your whole operating system to be reinstalled.

The proper maintenance of your Windows Registry is no small matter. Neglecting it may lead to a lot of computer problems that will later on cause it to completely crash if not addressed immediately. If you fear that your computer already has some registry errors, don't hesitate to seek the help of a professional so that these errors may be resolved in the timeliest manner without adding to the risk of causing any further errors on your computer.

Windows is an excellent operating system but it also has its share of issues. This article compiled a list of the most commonly encountered problems and how to fix them.

If you are using Windows 7, you might come across the following:

Shutdown Takes Time

Shutdown should be quick especially for Windows 7. However, users would often complain about shutting down would usually take a few minutes. This might be caused by the page file. This is a file that contains overflow data from the computer's RAM. If this is set to be cleared at every shutdown, it could really slow down the process.

1. Go to Start and click the Search button.

2. Type in regedit.exe to open Windows Registry Editor.

3. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM/CurrentControlSetSession ManagerMemory Management.

4. Search for ClearPageFileatShutdow. If this is set to 1 (enabled), change to 0.

This page file is a potential security risk. If you have sensitive information on your computer, someone might try to steal it and immediately go to this page file. For some it's a non-issue, though.

System Running Slow

This latest version has a lot of visual effects that can take its toll on your video card and RAM. If your system is performing sluggishly, you might need to fix the visual effects.

1. Go to Start and access Search.

2. Type in performance.

3. Choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.

4. This leads you to Performance Options.

5. Go to Visual Effects and choose Adjust for best performance.

6. Choose Custom and check and then Use visual styles on windows and buttons.

7. Click OK when done.

Older Programs are Not Compatible

Since version 7 is more advanced, computer experts recommend that before upgrading, you have to check if the programs that you have on your computer would be compatible with the newer version. You can use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to analyze those programs.

In case you have already upgraded and failed to do a programs check, you can do the following with the use of the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.

1. Go to Compatibility Mode.

2. Right click installation file.

3. Access Properties.

4. From the Properties window, choose Compatibility tab.

5. Check on Run this program in compatibility mode for. You can choose from the pull-down menu a list of the latest versions of the operating system that the program was using.

6. You might need to repeat this with the program once installed:

* Right click program icon.

* Select Properties.

* Go to Compatibility tab.

* Check Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and then choose what system to use.

DVD Drive Not Found Error

This issue can be resolved when you edit Windows Registry.

1. Go to Start.

2. Type in regedit.exe on the Search box.

3. This will launch Results interface.

4. Navigate and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass.

5. When you're in the right hand panel, try deleting UpperFilters and LowerFilters.

6. Restart and see if this solves your problem.

If the problem persists:

1. Go to Start.

2. Type in Disk Management.

3. Choose Create and format hard disk partitions.

4. When you are in the Disk Management window, right click optical drive icon.

5. Choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.

6. Click on Change and choose a new drive letter.

7. Reboot the system to see if issue has been fixed.

System "Wakes from Sleep"

When you choose the Sleep mode, the system should stay that way until you "wake it up". If this doesn't happen, you can do the following:

1. Go to Start.

2. In the Search window, type in cmd.

3. When the black window pops out, type in powercfg-lastwake. The last hardware device that caused the computer to "wake up" will be shown.

However, technicians do not rely on this 100%. If no hardware becomes visible, try the following instead:

4. Type in powercfg-devicequery wake_armed in the Search window. This will show you the devices that are allowed to "wake up" your PC.

5. Open the Device Manager. Look for the devices that the command gave you.

6. When you have found the device, open Properties.

7. Go to Power Management tab.

8. When you see Allow this device to wake the computer box, uncheck it.

If the problem persists, the problem might be with the software already and not with the hardware.

1. Go to Power Options.

2. Click on Change advanced power settings.

3. Scroll down until you get the Sleep tree.

4. Expand and look for Allow Wake Timers, and disable it.

5. The software will cease "waking up" your PC.

These are just some of the more common problems you will encounter. You might also encounter errors with system files, and in such cases you may use automatic repair software such as DLL repair tools, registry optimizers and driver updaters.

The world of technology keeps on evolving at a lightning-fast pace, and what may be a modern marvel to day may become history tomorrow. It is no wonder that newer and more capable computers are being released periodically, in all shapes and sizes. Computer owners are inclined to upgrade their devices regularly, just to keep at par with the benchmark of the computing world.

However, keeping your computer fast and up to par is not all about upgrading your software and swapping out hardware. Although these are integral components, there are actually plenty of other ways we can make sure that our machines perform their very best. And these are actually so simple that we often end up taking them for granted!

Keep your computer clean. Sounds so easy, right? However, many of us fail to perform this simple step. When left for a little more than a year, most computers accumulate enough dust that their speed and performance start to fail.

Dust can block important vents and filters in your computer, preventing the proper flow of air. Dust can also get into the disk drives, even blocking the ports and other interface. In some cases, simple dust can cause crashing computers simply because they block the circuitry! For the most part, they can drastically slow down performance when infiltrating the drives and causing undue heat to build up.

Remember when cleaning your computer, though, (especially the insides). Undue static from you and your tools can cause damage to the delicate circuits. To prevent this, make sure to touch the outside case of the unit first to discharge all the extra static.

Cool your computer down! This problem may be most apparent to laptop users, this is also evident for those who keep their computers too close to walls or in places without proper ventilation.

The computer processors take all the brunt of the PC's computational processes, and they generate a lot of heat. When this heat is not properly dispersed, the system automatically slows down in order to prevent overheating (which may lead to damaged internal parts). Naturally, this slowing down will be evident in lagging processes and frozen windows.

Making sure that your computer gets enough ventilation will be sure to solve this problem. Do not place the unit near any walls, and if you are using a laptop, it may help to use a cooling pad.

Cut on the frills. Of course, we all want our computers to have as much functionality as possible. But we also want them to be flashy. Oftentimes, however, this causes in some performance issues.

For example, boot times may be hampered by too much programs running since startup. Once the computer has booted, these "silent" tasks still take up processor resources in the background. You may disable some of these tasks from automatically running, saving you time and increasing your computer speed. After all, you may always call on these programs later when you need them.

This tip also rings true for those unnecessary visual effects and process animations.

rClean up your Desktop. For some of us, the Desktop is the default repository for all files that we happen to save. While this may be convenient, it is also notorious for slowing down computers, especially those which are inherently short on system resources.

Make sure that all your files are saved in appropriate folders in your My Documents or in other places.

It is also helpful if you change your desktop background from a high-pixel one to a simpler version of it. It is best if you make the background just the same size as your monitor's resolution, so that the operating system would no longer waste resources trying to re-scale it.

Of course, in the end, regular maintenance is still the best way to go if you wish to make your computer as snappy as possible. Priority updates to your operating system can do wonders not only in plugging security holes but also in making sure that your system is optimized.

Another thing that many users forget is to update their drivers for their hardware. This is very important both in ensuring your hardware works properly and quickly, as well as in preventing more permanent issues from occurring (think of those notorious BSODs, EXE, SYS, and DLL errors).

No matter how old your computer may be, it should still be able to run all the basic necessities as long as you keep it in tip top shape. On the contrary, even the computer with excellent specs could falter when left without being taken care of!

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

One of the most common issues any computer technician or helpdesk representative has been asked about is how to speed up Windows startup. There are a lot of different factors, both software and hardware, that cause the slowness or fastness that the system would load or boot. This article aims to help you even if you are not a "techie".

Make Some Changes with the BIOS

Ask any expert and they will immediately tell you that the first thing to do is to make a few changes to the system BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). This system is actually a set of commands and instructions that are built into your desktop's motherboard. It allows your computer to recognize the type of hardware connected to facilitate communication.

To make the necessary tweaks, you need to access the BIOS set up screen. However, utmost care is needed when you are making the changes because one tiny mistake can cause more serious problems. You should realize that this is a sensitive process and you shouldn't go through it if you are not willing to risk and making huge mistakes. You might feel better if there is someone knowledgeable who can assist you.

1. It is important that you begin with your pc completely turned off. Do not go from hibernation or sleep mode, shut it down first and then you can begin after reboot.

2. Go to the BIOS screen as suggested. The process might depend on your computer. The most common involves pressing DEL (Delete) key, pressing F1, pressing F10, or simultaneously pressing CTRL-ALT-S.

3. Once you've gained access, go to the BOOT menu. Navigate using these keys: Tab and Enter.

4. Most of the latest editions, there is an option for Quick Boot. You simply enable this so as to skip all the memory tests and Power On Self Tests or POST.

5. Next, you go to the Boot Device Priority to alter the first boot device option to be the computer's hard drive. This process will speed up the system, however, it this will not allow you to boot the system using the CD-ROM. If booting from anything is important, you can simply not perform this step. However, if you do decide to make alteration, you can still re-enter the setup screen and change put CD-ROM as your first option.

6. Once you're done, go to Exit and Save Changes.

7. Your desktop will then reboot.

You will still find other options from the setup menu on speeding startup, like disabling the AUTO RETECT function of your hard drive and other media.

Make Tweaks on Your Windows Operating System Settings

The hold up in rebooting or reloading might be on the operating system. The Windows tools, System Configuration Utility will help you in making the necessary modification.

Changes in the Startup Tab

1. Go to Start and click Run.

2. Type in MISCONFIG on the window and then press Enter.

3. Go to STARTUP tab from the System Configuration Utility.

4. You will be lead to command box where all the items from Startup are visible.

5. All of the items that are checked are those that are loaded every time Windows starts. If there are many items that are marked, it will surely take some time in loading and booting. You can uncheck some of the items if you deem them unnecessary.

You will see the Name of the Program and to which folder they are located. There is also the information where the file starts from. This could be from the Windows Registry, where most system files are located, or in the ALL PROGRAMS folder.

It is important that you thoroughly check the items so you can decide which ones you will uncheck.

6. Once you're done with the modifications, click OK.

7. The system will then reboot.

Windows Services

1. When your desktop has been rebooted, go to Start, click on Run, and key in MSCONFIG.

2. Press Enter.

3. You will get System Configuration Utility the second time. Go to the Services tab.

4. Click on "Hide All Microsoft Services" to establish those series that you do not need and have them removed. Keep in mind that you'll only need the services that support your video and sound cards and the antivirus programs that are left running. The others that you don't have a need for, you can disable them. If you need help deciding what to chose, you can search through Google for additional information or you can ask a technician

Perform the above tips and you'll never have a problem with a slow start again.

Every PC user may encounter a computer problem. Even the most stable, secure PC is not safe from failing hardware as well as buggy software and system errors such as missing DLL and exe files. Computer problems can affect your productivity and may cost you a lot of money. Some of the most common computer problems are –

* Computer won't turn on

* Slow performance

* Overheating

* Strange noises

* Lockups and freezes

Sometimes the only solution to these common computer problems is to clean up and debug your PC.

Clean Up Your PC

Clean your PC inside and out. Here are steps in cleaning the outside of your machine.

* The first thing you need to do is to turn it off and unplug everything.

* Your main priority is to clean the keyboard and mouse. Cleaning them is very easy. You can use a few household cleaning materials.

* Clean the inside of your computer's case.

* Remove the dust out of the fans to keep everything cool and quiet. For desktop, all you need is a compressed air. For laptop, it usually requires more work.

Refer to your laptop's instruction manual for more details on how to take it apart.

Update Your Software

Now that you are done cleaning up the outside of your computer, it is time to deal with the good stuff – the software. Before you do anything else, make sure that you have updated all your software – service packs, drivers, security updates, and others. If you are still using Windows 7, it is best that you consider an upgrade.

Uninstall Unnecessary Apps

Sometimes there are some unnecessary apps that you need to install. In uninstalling these apps instead of using the add/remove programs, you can use an uninstaller for faster and thorough uninstallations. This is also the best time to optimize your printer or scanner setup, since it contributes some unnecessary applications to your hard drive.

You can also check your startup items in "msconfig" and uncheck options you don't need. This will definitely improves your PC's boot time, and also free up some resources. If you are having some difficulties in deciding what to disable, you can always browse the internet for help.

Restore Hard Drive Space

If you are having an error message that you are running out of space on your drive, you need to check what might be causing this. Using the Windows built-in disk cleanup app might not be able to help you on this. These restore tips will help you get rid of DLL, SYS and Exe errors in general. Search online for the best software that can help you organize your file type, folder and others. This software will show you exactly what's taking up so much space on your PC. Using the software, you can start deleting stuff you don't need and get some of that disk space back.

Optimize Your System – Perform Maintenance

Start cleaning up your system and remove the junk and harmful software that can slow down your PC. You can download a maintenance tool and run through its cleaning process. This will get rid some of those additional caches, log files, temporary files and other things that affect your system. You can set it to perform regular maintenance so you don't have to worry about it.

Aside from that, the only maintenance that you need to carry out is keep your antivirus program turned on and up to date. There are lots of free antivirus programs online that you can download. You don't have to do much more than those mentioned above – Windows 7 does not need to defragment, mess with Windows prefetching, clean their registry or do anything else.

Carry out a Clean Install

Some people prefer to reinstall Windows once in a while to keep everything run smoothly. This is absolutely fine but you don't have to do it. As long as you take care of your PC, it should run smoothly, cleanly and fast as if you just installed your Windows.

If you don't want to perform a clean install, it is best that you check out how to do a clean without losing your files, tweaks and settings. It will make the process a lot easier. You can personalize your Windows installation by eliminating needless Windows components, adding service packs to your installer, and automatically install all important apps in single fell swoop. As you continue with the process, make sure that you get all the necessary apps installed on your PC.

If the solutions provided above were not able to solve the problems, you can search and download utility tools who can automatically perform the steps needed to tune up your system.

In this fast-paced world, the most frustrating thing you could encounter is anything that is slow. To top the list would be the speed of your computer as you depend on it for almost everything you need. You want to locate a place? You need your PC for that. You want to get some information about something? All you need is your pc and an Internet connection. It is a must therefore, that your computer's speed and performance is always at its finest, at all times.

How can this be done? It would be best to find out what causes the slow speed and poor performance in the first place. Here are some of the possible culprits and their solutions:

* Poor or lack of maintenance. Computers are the most neglected gadgets. People tend to use them for prolonged periods of hours without proper care and they expect these machines to last for decades. When they start to feel the change in the speed and performance of their pc, that is the only time they start to show concern for the wellbeing of these machines. Avoid future problems by being consistent in maintaining your computers. You should update and check them regularly. Be careful in handling them. Allow resting periods for them. When you take care of them, they would be able to take care of your work and documents, too.

* Accumulation of junk files. These unwanted and useless files can be found anywhere in your computer. Although technically they are harmless, they could really be the cause of why your pc is ever so slow. The solution? Frequent cleaning up is the answer. You could do this by manually deleting the files that you do not need especially the videos, audios and pictures, which take up so much memory space of your hard disk. You could also use the Windows cleanup system by simply deleting the junk files that it has checked. Delete also the items in your Recycle Bin. However, be careful when you do this, as the items would be permanently deleted.

* Viruses. These are not only guilty of causing the slow connection and processing of your pc but they can damage it seriously. Your files and documents are therefore not safe when viruses abound in your pc. The solution? Do not crimp and be careless on your anti-virus software. Invest in a good antivirus software. After all, prevention is always better than cure.

* Outdated programs and software. Not availing of packs and packages of updates could cause you that turtle pace you are experiencing. This can be simple remedied by just installing new updates, which usually are for free anyway. All you would need is time to install them.

* High temperature. Too much heat could dampen the speed and performance of your gadget. Maintain a cool environment especially when you are in a tropical country. Place an electric fan on the computer itself. Of course, an air-conditioned room would be better. There are pc cases with built-in fans to help cool them. Avail of these especially during summer. Dust is also one of the reasons why the computer can experience overheating. Protect your pc by constantly cleaning the computer and its surrounding areas. Lastly, prolonged use of the computer can cause the extra temperature, which can damage internal components of the computer. Strive to use the computer with lesser number of hours. If this is not possible, at least provide some resting periods and turn off the computer for at least 30 minutes or an hour.

* Not defragging the hard drive. Many users are not doing this because they fail to see the importance of it. Defragmentation is simply cleaning the computer by picking up all the pieces of data that are all over the hard drive and putting them back together. When a file is spread out on different locations in your computer, it would take longer for the computer to read and write it, therefore slowing the process. Another reason why most users do not defrag is because they do not know how to do it. Simply press the Start Menu and open the Disk Defragmenter. From there, you could select the disk that you want to defrag. If you are not sure if the disk needs to be defragmented, just click the Analyze disk button. After that, just press the Defrag button and that's it.

These simple actions could save you from lots of frustrations brought about by slow speed and poor performance of your computer.

Having Windows problems when you are currently working on a very important assignment could be frustrating. However, one need not panic as these problems could be fixed in a jiffy.

Here are some of the common Windows problems that you could fix on your own.

1. Your PC Won't Turn On - Now, this could really be exasperating especially if the deadline is one hour to go. Still, not all is lost. You could still save the day (and your job) by doing the following remedies:

a. Calm down. Yes, this is of utmost importance. When you are relaxed, you would be able to focus and discover what the real problem is. There is a high percentage that your files are safe. They are not just accessible at this time. They would be though, as soon as you find out what the matter is.

b. Check all the cables, connections and buttons. Sometimes, minor errors as an unplugged gadget or power buttons/switch not turned on, are the cause of this problem. Check if all cables are free from any damages, loops, kinks or any obstructions that may be causing the inability of the power supply to flow through it. Cables are especially prone to being "nibble" by rodents. Double check too, if the turn on button is still secured. This could be loosed and that may be the issue. In some computers, there is a reset button that you could use, in the meantime.

c. Check the power supply. Even though you are using the battery as the supply of power, plug in your computer (preferably directly in the wall sockets) and see if that would be the solution. You could also remove the battery and see if it will turn on. If it is still not working, try to use other appliances on the wall sockets such as lamp or electric fan, just to confirm that it is functioning and the problem lies in the pc itself.

d. Assess the power supply unit (PSU). Your computer and the PSU may not be compatible, hence the absence of power.

The first three initial things to check are the power supply, wall power and cables, connections and buttons. If there are no problems in these areas, the motherboard may be causing the inability to turn on. Seek professional help if you don't know how to check and do this.

2. The pc hangs while you are trying to shut it down. This is also vexing as you cannot leave the work desk without securing that the pc is safely turned off. The initial action is to discover what applications are not shutting down and then disable them. You could do this by:

a. Open a Windows search "regedit.exe" in the Registry Editor.

b. Change the value of "VerboseStatus" to 1.

c. This would give you information on which programs are not yet properly shut down, hence the reason for not totally shutting down the pc.

d. Shut down each program and attempt to shut down the whole pc.

You could also force the pc to shut down but it could mean losing some unsaved files.

3. Windows programs seem so slow. You simply hate it when you are running after time and the computer is not cooperating by moving so slow. You may be unaware that the primary cause of this "slowness" is the presence of superfluous effects. Turn it off by doing these:

a. Type "performance" in the search field of the Start icon.

b. Select the "adjust the appearance and performance of Windows" button and press it.

c. Once the Performance Options window opens, select Visual Effects.

d. From there, you have four options.

* Let Windows choose the best for you

* Adjust for best appearance

* Adjust for best performance

* Customize (click the features that you want to maintain.

This action alone would greatly improve the speed of your pc.

4. Appearance of the dreaded BSOD (blue screen of death). Nothing could be more annoying than doing something rush and important and your monitor turns blue all over. This is termed as BSOD or STOP error. It is usually caused by an error in the driver that is deemed serious that it would cause the Windows to stop operating. Here is what you could do:

a. Take note of the STOP code. This would help you pinpoint the root cause of the problem.

b. Review what you were doing before the appearance of the BSOD as this may also be the cause of it. Were you installing a new program? Or, maybe updating a driver?

c. Assess the amount of free space available. It is recommended that there is at least 100MB of free space.

d. Run a scan to check for viruses.

e. Update the pc. Sometimes, there are available fixes from these updates.

Solve these common problems quickly and effortlessly.

What are junk files?

These are the unwanted or useless files that accumulate in your personal computer or laptop over time. They could use up valuable memory space that would lead to your personal computer becoming ever so slow. These unwanted documents or items could affect the total performance of your pc. Finding them manually is impossible as they could be residing anywhere in your computer. You could run a quick scan in your pc and discover how many gigabytes of unwanted files you have on your hard drive.

How do you acquire these junks in your pc?

Unwanted items, folders or programs are actually temporary records designed to back up your work every time you use your computer. So if you use your Word program for instance, a temporary record is created to make your work smooth and to protect it from loss. When you are browsing the Internet, various details about the visited sites are stored in the browsers Cache, History and Cookie. Installing and uninstalling useless or unnecessary programs would cause traces of these files to remain in your pc in the form of junks. However, these temporary items are not automatically deleted when you shut down your pc. They accumulate and cause speed problems in your pc as they take up memory space. Therefore, frequent clean up is a must to maintain the speed and performance of your pc. Plus, the memory space would be available for use to more valuable programs.

How to clean these useless, temporary junks of your pc?

As these junk items reside everywhere, there would be several places you could delete them from. Here are some of the things you could do:

1. Generally, you could do the following steps: Click the Start menu. Under All Programs, choose Accessories and under that, System Tools. The Disk Clean up would appear. From the selection, choose the drive from which you would like to clean up the junk folders in your pc. Press "OK".

These are the programs or folders you could select to delete in the Disk Cleanup tab.

* Temporary Internet Files

* Offline Webpages

* Recycle Bin (take note however, that deleting the items in the Recycle Bin is a permanent action. Therefore, the deleted items would not be recovered anymore. You may prefer to just delete them one by one. Do not press the delete button in the files you think might be of use to you later on.)

* Temporary Files

2. You could also uninstall any program that you no longer use or need. Simply click Start menu. Press the Control Panel icon. Choose the Add/Remove Programs. From the list, you would see the programs that you do not use anymore. If you are not sure, you could also check the importance of that particular program by checking the "Last Used On" tab to see how frequently you use that program. Then, uninstall the unused or unwanted programs.

3. Another place where there are usually lots of junk items acquired is the "My Documents" folder. To ensure that you would not regret deleting useful documents later on, you might want to make a copy of those important items in a CD before you proceed with the cleanup. How to remove junks from your My Documents folder? Simply select and delete the documents that you no longer need. Do the same with "My Pictures", "My Videos" and "My Music" folders. Videos and pictures actually take up so much of the hard disk space.

4. Windows could also help you speed up the process of clean up by simply deleting the items that it has already checked for you to delete. These items are usually from the Downloaded Program Files, Thumbnails, and Temporary Internet Files. Simply press the OK button and the clean up would begin.

5. Old files and previous installations could also be free from junk files if you would use the Clean up system files. However, this type of clean up is usually discouraged if you are a newbie in computer use as you might delete a useful program or folder unintentionally or accidentally. Recovering of these things would then be difficult or even outright, impossible. How to do a system cleanup? Click the "Clean up system files". The entire content of your hard drive would be available to be deleted at your disposal. Click the items you wish to delete. Kindly read the description of each file, folder or program before you press delete. Then, just press OK for the clean up to begin.

Cleaning your computer of its junk files is important to maintain its speed and quality of performance.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Those who have never experienced a panic attack might find it difficult to understand how terrifying experience it is. A full-blown panic attack include the following symptoms:

-Sweating

-Shortness of breath or hyperventilation

-Trembling or shaking

-Choking feeling

-Feeling unreal or detached from your surroundings

-Hot or cold flashes

-Fear of dying, losing control, or going crazy

-Feeling dizzy, light-headed, or faint

-Heart palpitations or a racing heart

-Chest pain or discomfort

-Numbness or tingling sensations

-Nausea or upset stomach

It's important to know that a panic attack in itself is not dangerous. However, to have anxiety over time can increase the risk of: Heart disease, cancer, stomach disorders, obesity, shrinkage of a certain region of your brain, decreased ability to concentrate, memory problems, irritability, damages interpersonal relationships, respiratory problems, weakening your immune system.

Therefore, if you're experiencing a panic attack, then you probably want to stop having them. Here are five tips on how to stop having panic attacks:

Tip #1: Try not to avoid places or situations

Some people with panic attacks avoid places and situations because they think it might trigger a panic attack. This behavior can induce another anxiety disorder called agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is characterized by fear for situations where the sufferer perceives an environment as uncomfortable or dangerous. People with agoraphobia often restrict themselves to "safe zones". This makes them housebound, and sometimes restricted to a particular room in their house.

Tip #2: Recognize overbreathing

It's important to recognize when and how you overbreathe. Try to catch yourself when you start to breathe more rapidly. You can ask yourself the following questions: Do I breathe too rapidly? Do I breathe too deeply? Do I yawn more than others (excessive yawning may be a sign of hyperventilation)?

Tip #3: Don't overreact

It's important not to overreact to your own hyperventilation. When you feel you start to overbreathe, remind yourself that it's not dangerous, even though it might feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. If you feel that you start to hyperventilate, you can do the slow-breathing technique described below, which will stop symptoms over hyperventilation within a minute or two.

Tip #4: The Slow-Breathing Technique

When you feel the symptoms of hyperventilation, try to do the following exercise:

1. Stop what you are doing and start focusing on your breathing

2. Start breathing in and out through your nose. Do it slowly, in a 6 second cycle. Breath in for three seconds and out for three seconds. While you are doing the 6 second breathing cycle repeat the word "relax" to yourself every time you breathe out. It's important to breathe using your diaphragm, not your chest.

3. Continue with the slow-breathing exercise until the symptoms of hyperventilation have gone.

Tip #5: Breathe into a paper bag
