Are whiteboards really better than blackboards? The sight of a blackboard brings back nostalgic memories for many people who got their education within the last decade or two. However, blackboards are slowly becoming phased out in favour of white boards. So, why are whiteboards being preferred by many people to replace blackboards?

Let us begin by explaining why blackboards are losing popularity before we go to the advantages of wall mounted whiteboards. The first obvious pitfall of blackboards is that it requires chalk which produces powder that is an irritant to the respiratory tract. Apart from the irritating properties of chalk, blackboards are usually messy. A person handling chalk cannot avoid getting his hands covered in a layer of chalk dust. Blackboards also get dirty much quicker than wall mount whiteboards. Without further ado let's look at some advantages of wall mounted whiteboards.

    Versatility

Apart from the obvious purpose of writing on and illustration, whiteboards can also be used as screens for showing presentations using projectors. The smooth white surface is perfect as a screen for presentations. Whiteboards can also be moved much easier than blackboards hence they can easily be used in different locations.

    Better for teaching

Most teachers now prefer to use whiteboards because they are easier to write on because of the writing tools they require. Compared to traditional chalkboards, whiteboards use whiteboard markers which are much easier to write with for prolonged periods. The writing on a whiteboard is much easier to read compared to that of a blackboard. This makes it easier for students or the audience at other events to follow what a person is presenting. Magnetic whiteboards are quite common and they enhance the presenter's ability to add value to the presentation since items such as whiteboard magnets can be used.

Whiteboards are usually white surfaces which serve almost the same purpose as blackboards. However, there are also glass whiteboards which can be used in the same way as ordinary ones. Glass whiteboards can be mounted on walls and they have the advantage of not interfering with the overall appearance of the room. Glass whiteboards are also customizable as you can choose between sizes, glass finish, and colours. The aesthetic appeal of glass whiteboards is therefore more than that of traditional whiteboards.

Whiteboards can be used for interactive presentations

Whiteboards are not only restricted to classrooms. There are some whiteboards that also have the capability to display images and come equipped with touch-sensitive surfaces. Such whiteboards are very important for presentations that require the use of many different diagrams. This is functionality that traditional blackboards can come nowhere close to matching.

Interactive whiteboards have another important benefit. Traditional blackboards frequently had huge 'DO NOT ERASE' messages for notices. The content on an interactive whiteboard can be saved and hence never get lost. Whiteboards are therefore better for use as noticeboards than traditional blackboards. Whiteboards are becoming progressively more affordable as demand increases and soon they might be available in schools, colleges, and conference room. This will mark an important turning point in peoples' ability to present their ideas.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Over the last few years, interactive whiteboards have become more common in the teaching fields. Use of the whiteboards appears to be on an exponential increase but do they make any difference in the classroom? Interactive whiteboards are large displays that are connected to a computer and a user controls what the board displays using the computer. They can be wall mounted whiteboards or they can also be supported by a floor stand. The whiteboards have several accessories that a presenter and audience can use to interact with what it is showing.

Many teachers have adopted the use of these whiteboards with open arms whenever they can be made available. Their effect on student achievement compared to traditional boards has been determined through research. A study conducted on the whiteboards showed that there is a 16 percentile improvement in student performance when the boards are used. The whiteboards still have shortcomings compared to standard wall mounted whiteboards such as inability of some students to keep up with the pace at which information on the board is changing.

Teachers who have changed from using traditional whiteboards have seen the profound effect that the interactive whiteboards have had on students. Teachers have changed their teaching styles to get students involved in the learning process and this makes it easier to arouse the interest of students and engage their participation even on difficult subjects. Interactive whiteboards have obvious advantages in subjects requiring more visual presentation of information such as arts and crafts, biology, architecture, and others.

The use of interactive whiteboards in teaching still needs to become a mainstream activity partly due to prohibitive prices and a learning curve that many teachers are not ready to deal with. According to researchers, teachers that can be able to effectively use whiteboards for teaching are the ones that have used them for at least two years. Most other teachers would be better off if they used normal wall mounted whiteboards for their lessons.

According to some, it does not matter if glass whiteboards, interactive whiteboards, or standard whiteboards are used to teach; a good teacher is able to use multiple media to deliver information and engage students' participation while focusing on the content and not how it is presented or the technology. The versatility of an interactive whiteboard is however difficult to beat with traditional presentation methods hence the case for their adoption in schools and other institutions.

Interactive wall mounted whiteboards are technological pieces of equipment and they can easily overwhelm even the best of teachers. The ability of a teacher to break down lessons into manageable bits of information before organizing and preparing digital flipcharts is the factor that determines if the whiteboard can be used effectively in a classroom environment. There is an ideal amount of information that should be contained in a single page of a flip chart. Too much or too little information will disrupt the learning process and it may cause some students to be left behind.

In conclusion, interactive whiteboards are extremely helpful when teaching but the teacher has to get trained on how to best use the technology in teaching.

Atul Malikram, mentor, miim says" We have seen anxiety of students as well as their parents for identifying the sources through which they can approach their goals. The situation becomes critical when a student doing regular course, insists upon doing some parallel course for preparation of IPM. We understood the situation of wards and parents and decided to device such a course, which does not come in the way of regular course and a student doing 12th class can easily go through it. We are happy that our efforts brought fruitful results and good number of students doing our courses got admission in IIM Indore for two years in succession.".

Having your very own internet marketing business can be a very rewarding and beneficial experience. You are the one who's managing and you are taking more control of your own life. The time and energy that you put into your business is a direct benefit to you – and not to someone else.

With an online business, you can literally work anywhere in the world (as long as there's access to an internet connection of course).if you're comfortable with working from your kitchen table, with your laptop, then go ahead and do it. An internet marketing business never requires a physical location that you need to buy or rent. This huge advantage alone greatly reduces your start-up costs to run your business.

An internet marketing business (just like any other online business) only requires two items. You need a website domain (domain hosting) and you also need a place on the web to host your website (web hosting).

Over the years, the prices for these services have gone down due to competition. You can now get domain hosting for as little as $5.00 per year. You can also get web hosting for as little as $3.00 per month. Most web and domain hosting services also offer special deals and coupons – making their prices even cheaper. The competition in the web and domain hosting market benefits you – since it now makes it even easier to get your online business started.

Internet Marketing Business – Advertising, Inventory and Taxes.

On the internet you can advertise for free. This is another benefit of the internet. You can write articles like this one and publish it in ezines, websites, etc. You can also advertise for a relatively low investment, like with Google Adwords for example.

With Adwords, you only pay when someone clicks on your advertisement. This is called "Pay Per Click" advertising. You can have a good amount of targeted traffic coming to your website using PPC advertising. You can bid as low as 10 cents per click (depending on your target market of course).

With an internet marketing business, you don't need any inventory – unless you have your own physical products that you ship directly to customers. You also don't need employees to train and pay – unless your business grows to the point where you simply cannot do everything by yourself. Successful internet entrepreneurs usually hire workers from other countries to perform specific tasks for them. This is referred to outsourcing.

Your online business can also provide you with tax advantages. You can deduct your home, spouse and children (if you employ them), business vacations, cars, and business meals. Plus, any losses you incur can be tax deductible and may even be refunded by your income tax agency.

More Benefits To Owning Your Own Online Business.

By working at home you don't have to get up at 6 AM in the morning to prepare yourself to go to work. You can create your own schedule. You can work part time, like 4 or 5 hours a day and still make a decent income on the internet.

You can keep your current job if you are just starting your internet marketing business and make an extra income, or wait until your business is running at full speed and you don't need your job security anymore.

Managing your own online business means that you have to be your own boss. Being your own boss means that you will have all of the benefits – and responsibilities – of self ownership. Treat your online business in the same way that you would treat anything else that you personally own and would want to keep.

    Conclusion.

Your new internet marketing business would over time become your new job. This may sound a bit scary at first, but keep in mind that if you take your time to grow and nurture your business on a solid foundation, you would eventually be working less hours and for a bigger paycheck than with a traditional 9 to 5 job.

Don't expect this transition to take place instantly – after all, this is not a get-rich-quick scheme that we're talking about here. What you're actually doing is building an "income foundation" that will last you for years to come. If you've got kids, you can even train them and pass the business onto them later on.

The internet has truly changed what it means to "own a business" and by building a solid foundation, your internet marketing business will reward you greatly.

Are you interested in having your very own internet marketing business? Do you like the idea of self leadership and earning an income right from your own home? How does that sound to you – does it sound interesting? Well before you go running off haphazardly trying to create an internet marketing business, you need to stop and ask yourself a few questions.

Do you really have what it takes – or are you just simply interested in the potential benefits of having your own internet marketing business? The bottom line is this – this business (just like any other) has allot of work involved with it.

When working from home, you must have the discipline to accomplish your daily tasks? Do you have that discipline? It's very tempting to simply relax when you're working from home. You must be willing to take the time and effort needed to grow your business – even when you're not seeing any initial results. Do you have that kind of self-motivation?

Building an internet marketing business can bring out qualities that you thought you never had – but only if you are willing to go the distance. Let's explore this some more.

Do You Have The Self-Motivation To Build Your Internet Marketing Business?

You need to possess the ability to push yourself ahead. Your drive and determination will be reinforced with every new sale. To really succeed with your internet business you need to have clear goals and a business plan. You need to know where your business is going. You also need to put lots of time and effort to accelerate your business growth.

Running an internet marketing business demands various skills like computer literacy, marketing (copy-writing, advertising), website design & development skills, etc.

Over time, by learning and experimenting you will gain experience in these fields. Gaining that experience requires the willingness to give of your time and effort.

Your Internet Marketing Business Can Alter Your Destiny For the Better!

Isn't it great to be your own boss – working for yourself and taking all the decisions? You are the master now. You have the drive, you have the determination. You have the patience to see your business grow day by day, month after month.

Don't wait for everything to be exactly right to start because THERE WILL NEVER BE A "PERFECT" TIME! Start now, with whatever you have. The things you need will come to you as you work towards your goal.

If something bad happens, you need to have the humility to see what's wrong and learn from your error. You are the only one now who's responsible for yourself. Treat your internet marketing business as a serious, full-time business that's capable of providing you with a full-time monthly income, and it will eventually become one.

    Conclusion.

Creating your very own internet marketing business must not be considered as a get-rich-quick scheme. You need to treat it as a REAL business. Don't expect any major earnings within your first six months – you can think of this time as your training and education period where you are building your business on a solid foundation.

Every successful internet marketer has gone through this period of training and education. It is the only right way to build your business – and there are no shortcuts.

In building your business (especially an internet marketing business) you will run into the negative people (the naysayers). It is your responsibility to ensure that the negative people stay as far away from your business as possible – even if those people are friends and family.

The success or failure of your business is determined by you – not by the people around you. Therefore it is extremely important to have a positive outlook and attitude when it comes to your business.

The keys to success in your internet marketing business lie in your discipline and determination, your ability to learn and grow and your positive attitude. Treat your business the right way and you will be richly rewarded.
