The Grand Canyon is both vast and fascinating. It was carved out of the Kaibab Plateau by the Colorado River in a process that has taken about two billion years.

The canyon is 277 miles long and up to a mile deep. It is 18 miles wide in certain places. It covers an area of approximately 1.2 million acres in size. Tours on Grand Canyon helicopters are so popular because the National Park is so immense. How else could you see more than a tiny portion of this Natural Wonder of the World?

Seeing the canyon from the air is the only way to truly appreciate its beauty. The air tours that fly over the West Rim depart from Boulder City in Nevada or Vegas, while tours of the South Rim depart from Sedona or Tusayan in Arizona. There is no helicopter service between the South and West Rim.

    The Rims

The South Rim is too far for choppers to make it from Vegas or Boulder City, so that is why they only go to the West Rim. If you are staying in Vegas and really want to see the South Rim, you can take a plane tour there and then hop on a chopper for a fun rim-to-rim aerial tour.

When you take an air tour of the South Rim, you pick between a thirty-minute flight or a more comprehensive 50 minute tour. If you choose to take a tour of the West Rim, you can go on an air only tour or select a landing tour that adds a lot of excitement to your trip.

    Seeing The Sights

Both of the rims provide you with spectacular scenic views from the window of your helicopter. West Rim flights pass over Hoover Dam and scenic Lake Mead, but you'll also see the Mojave Desert and Fortification Hill (an extinct volcano). South Rim flights are equally scenic. Since helicopters fly much lower than airplanes, they are perfect for sightseeing.

You'll get birds-eye views of fascinating rock formations like Unkar Delta, Vishnu Temple, the Zuni Corridor and more. The rim-to-rim flights you can take at the South Rim take you over the impressive Dragoon Corridor, which is the deepest and widest part of the Grand Canyon. You might even catch glimpses of some of the animals that call the canyon home as it's said that 355 species of birds live there, along with 89 mammal and 47 reptile species. The rare California condor is just one of them.

The pilots on these tours are a lot of fun since they tell stories about the history and geology of the canyon during your trip. The information they share makes your tour very interesting and educational.

    Tour Upgrades

You can add different options to your helicopter tour. For example, you can go on a fun horseback ride through the beautiful landscape or take a relaxing float trip down the river. Some offer an optional overnight stay in a traditional Native American teepee. You can even arrange for a limo to pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in Las Vegas. There is a West Rim tour that is very popular because it takes you to the floor of the canyon where you can enjoy a Champagne picnic. Flying in the evening is fun too because you get an awesome view of the lights of Vegas and the Strip. Other tour options you can include are a show and dinner when the flight is over.

    Recap

Taking a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon is worth the price, but it doesn't hurt to look for the best price. Go to the tour operator's website to book your tour because you will find the lowest prices there. You are offered a low Internet price when you complete your transaction online. You should also book in advance because these tours are so popular. Book at least a week ahead, but two is even better.

Although there are plenty of other choices, Grand Canyon helicopters are my hands-down favorite way to see the National Park. It's because the experience is so intense.

To begin with, choppers fly lower than planes and give you a closer view of the sights. They're also much more maneuverable. Unlike planes, helicopters can bank tightly and they're able to weave their way through the amazing buttes and cliffs at the National Park.

Helicopter tours cover a lot of area, too. South Rim choppers show you almost 3/4 of the entire Park in less than 60 minutes. And some West Rim flights land on the top and/or the canyon bottom!

Picking Your Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

Your first choice is your tour's departure point. South Rim tours take off from Grand Canyon National Park Airport (GCN) at Tusayan, Arizona (just outside the Park's main gates). West Rim helicopter tours fly out of Las Vegas-area airfields. As I'll explain in a second, your choice of departure point depends in part on the type of tour you want. Air-only tours are offered at either place, but landing tours are only available from Las Vegas to the West Rim.

Air-only tours fly to the canyon, show you many of the rim's highlights, and then turn back for the airfield. In contrast, West Rim landing tours fly over the canyon, but also land either at the top or on the bottom. Grand Canyon West is the only place in the canyon where choppers are allowed to land on the bottom, and this is the most popular landing tour of them all. After landing, passengers enjoy a picnic near the Colorado River before flying back up to the top. The amped-up version of this tour adds VIP access to the Grand Canyon Skywalk and a smooth-water float trip down the Colorado.

If you prefer the South Rim, you can choose a 30- or 50-minute flight out of GCN. The shorter version is an exciting rim-to-rim flight (South to North and back) through dramatic Dragoon Corridor.

The longer version does that too, but also covers the Park up to its eastern boundary and a bigger chunk of the North Rim. Just wait 'til you see the beautiful turquoise waters of the Little Colorado River!

    Booking

Tours on Grand Canyon helicopters are incredibly popular, so it's important to book at least a week or so ahead. You might get away with pushing your luck by waiting to book until three days before the date you want, but I don't suggest it.

The Internet has the best rates, but you have to know where to go. I'd avoid the big online travel brokers and book directly with the tour company. If you complete your purchase on the tour company's website, you'll qualify for a great Internet rate. I've saved up to 30% off retail just by booking this way.

    Summing Up

Helicopters are a terrific way to see the glorious Grand Canyon. Flights from Vegas go to Grand Canyon West, while flights from GCN do the South Rim. Air-only tours can be a good choice for folks who are short on time or have limited budgets. Landing tours are more expensive but give you a more comprehensive canyon experience. Finally, book ahead and do it on the Web. You'll get a great price if you complete your transaction online!

Have you perfected the part of you that puts on a happy face for people so they don't realize how unhappy you are? Have you resigned yourself to the idea that, even though you want so much more in your life - better friendships, increased energy, time for yourself and your family - you will never feel completely fulfilled? You need to realize that, although you may feel like you have reached the point of 'no return' and have no will-power to follow through with anything, you actually haven't. You have the ability and the will to create the changes you want in your life and to start today.

You are not alone in your struggle. Millions of people are trudging through their lives, tiredly going through the motions and not really experiencing the beauty of life. What is going on with our society that causes so many to feel lost, unfulfilled, and worthless? Let's look at a few reasons:

    1. You feel lost and like you have nothing in your life to work towards - Do you have a project that you are currently working on that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning? If not, you need to find one. Maybe think of the wonderful feeling you will have when you lose those extra pounds you have packed on, or finish that kitchen project you have been putting off. Maybe you have an idea for a side project at work that will bring in some extra income. Whatever it may be, you need to target something that you can do to make your days a bit more worthwhile - like the saying goes, 'If you aren't growing, you're dying'.

    2. You watch too much television - One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get rid of your TV. It will give you time to read, research things that interest you online, and spend more time with your kids. When your work day is over, re-condition yourself to think about more options rather than mindlessly sitting in front of the TV. Engage in your life and get doing things you wouldn't normally do - no excuses.

    3. Your diet is terrible - time to be honest with yourself, how much time are you putting in to preparing healthy meals for yourself and your family? How conscious are you of what chemicals and preservatives you are consuming daily with over-processed, unhealthy foods? There is so much evidence out there now that connects a healthy diet with fresh greens to your metabolism and brain chemistry, which directly correlates to your energy levels and mood. You need to take the time to prepare fresh foods and it is a great time to start buying locally grown produce - help local farmers and businesses prosper.

    4. You play the victim on a daily basis - this is a pretty common one that we are all guilty of at some time or another. Think about this - when you get into a deep conversation with others how often does it go into how many things are wrong with your life? How about discussing things that are right in your life instead? We all have so much to be grateful for and so many blessings, we need to be conscious of these things rather than the negatives, the 'first-world problems' that we may have. You also need to surround yourself with positive people that bring out the good in you, in essence end any toxic relationships you may have while you are at it.

    5. You believe that this is your identity; you can't and won't change it - You feel like you can't teach old dogs new tricks. Really??? The truth is, you can teach anyone anything as long as they are willing to learn and to try new things. You need to be fed up with how things are going in your life enough to push through that old attitude and realize that you are not stuck and that you can make a change. Gain whatever inspiration you require to feel like you can make a difference in your life. Feeling anxious and depressed is NOT your identity if you don't want it to be.

    6. You stay away from everything that you fear - you need to listen to that little voice in your head that whispers to you to 'do it' when facing your fears. When you do, you will realize that it is not even close to as bad as you imagined it would be. It is the most exhilarating feeling when you can accomplish something you were always afraid of doing. You don't want to look back on your life with regret because of some ridiculous fears holding you back - they will seem silly when you are on your deathbed won't they? They are silly now too. I guarantee it.

    7. You believe that you don't deserve happiness - for whatever reasons, you don't feel like you are entitled to one of the most basic rights of humans - to find happiness. Write down a list of things that make you feel happy and content. It could be a big thing like going to an amusement park with your kids or as simple as a bubble bath. Self- care is something that we rarely do these days because we are too 'busy'. Try to do something that makes you happy every day. You deserve it, truly.

    8. You haven't realized what potential you have to make a change - Steve Jobs once said something along the lines of, "Do you want to change the world? Or do you want to spend your life selling sugared water?" I don't much like sugared water, so I think I will try to change the world, how about you? You can do anything you set your mind to. Nothing has happened in this world without a single person and an idea. You don't have to do anything huge like inventing a clean power source, but look around you. You have the power to change your world, and the ones of the people closest to you. You just need to give yourself a chance.

    9. You reject help - you think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. As a matter of fact, asking for help takes an incredible amount of strength and courage. You also need to remember that what goes around comes around, you will get a chance to add fulfillment to your life by giving back where help was given to you once. If you are stuck in an aspect of your life, ask for help from someone who has been there. You could even contact a professional. Life is too short to waste on being too proud to ask for help.

    10. You spend too much time trying to improve on things that don't matter - ever heard the saying, "we major in minor things"? It is true. When I was going through my toughest times I would try to master different ways of scoring goals on FIFA with my x box. Now I think to myself, 'what a waste of time!' If I had only spent those hours on a tennis court perfecting my serve - you might be watching me play on television right now instead of reading this post! In all seriousness, we as a society are too caught up with the pursuit of wealth and good looks and possessions. See where your time is being spent and make changes that your future self will thank you for mentally, physically, and spiritually. You need to improve on the things in life that matter, where you will find the deepest fulfillment and rewards. Look into improving yourself - that will make all the difference.

There are some things that you just need to hold back from saying when it comes to communicating effectively with someone with an anxiety disorder. Although anxious people hear these kinds of comments and questions quite often, they don't get any easier to hear as time goes by. If you are part of a support network listen up, because here are the top 10 things you shouldn't say to someone who suffers from anxiety:

    1) "You look worried." Anxiety sufferers will be thinking, "If I don't worry, how will I keep everything under control?" They feel like if they don't worry, then mentally, emotionally, and physically they will be stuck in the unknown, a world that is very uncomfortable. Worrying is a coping mechanism that anxiety sufferers rely on, one that will diminish as they become more in control of their physical and emotional sensations. Bringing attention to the worrying, however, only makes it worse so it is best to leave it alone if you notice it in someone.

    2) "How come you're so quiet?" This is the one I feared the most when I was struggling with social anxiety. Deep down I knew who I really was and that was a social, upbeat kind of guy . . . but on the surface I was quiet and unapproachable. Realize that the person you are speaking to is being calm and collected because that is their choice – they do not have to live up to your expectations of how they should behave. Let them come to you when they feel comfortable.

    3) "I think you need a drink." Ummmm hello . . . do you know what alcohol does to my nerves in the morning? If someone looks uptight or stressed, try not to make it worse by offering something they might find potentially harmful.

    4) "Don't worry, stress is normal." Really? Is it normal to be stressed and anxious about going for a walk in the hope that my heart won't explode? Stress and anxiety is normal, but the amount that anxiety sufferers go through on a regular basis is nothing to be underestimated. Sometimes making light of something that is a big deal to someone else can be very insulting and difficult to hear.

    5) "Have you gotten it checked yet?" I don't know about you, but as a hypochondriac I would be focused on a mole on my body or the lump in my throat and I was constantly at the doctor having these things checked. This question just fuels a person's anxiety because it reminds them of the many unsuccessful attempts they have gone through trying to get someone from the medical profession to take them seriously. It feels like opening an old wound in a way.

    6) "I had a panic attack once." – please.

    7) "Why do you go to the bathroom so much?" Frequent urination is quite common with anxiety. I remember being extremely nervous the moments before being taken to our seats in a restaurant because I had to take care of business every fifteen minutes during times of extreme stress. If we didn't get seated close to a bathroom, well I might as well have worn a diaper. Embarrassing right? So why bring it up?

    8) "Dude, your hands are shaking." – Have you ever avoided reaching for your glass of water on the table due to the fear of people seeing your hands shake? Well, whenever I got caught with shaky hands and was told what was happening by someone else, all I wanted to do was crawl into a hole and die. It's another embarrassing symptom that I really didn't want anyone to bring attention to.

    9) "Think positive thoughts and you'll get through it." I'm all about positive thinking and spreading happiness everywhere I go. The problem is that positive thinking rarely gets you through a cycle of fear-adrenaline-fear once it has kicked into high gear. So thanks for the idea, but it doesn't really help fix a panic attack.

    10) "Man up!" Seriously?? SMACK!!

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

I recently read some rather depressing medical news - and that is that anti-depressants don't work. What's worse is that we have all been conned by the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry telling us how much they DO work. We all know what a common problem depression is in mental health care. It is well on its way to becoming the main cause of long-term disability in the US I was even more baffled when I read how the drug companies are selectively publishing studies that just show the benefits of anti-depressants and not the truth - the studies that show that they don't work. No wonder these medications have climbed to the second leading class of all drugs sold in America.

The world has a bit of a warped view when it comes to anti-depressants. What do the studies actually say? That if you take a placebo - a sugar pill - that you have an 80% likelihood of improvement. Now we have this huge problem where we have millions of people 'clinically' depressed with no proper treatment plan, and the problem gets worse every year. We need to understand what depression really is: a label. It tells us that you have lost all interest and joy in the many activities of your day, combined with a low mood and sadness most of the time. Sleeping is difficult, you feel hopeless, and you have a difficult time making decisions. This makes sense, but what about the cause of all these symptoms? Is it simply just a matter of brain chemistry or is it your lifestyle?

This is not a problem with a one size fits all solution. Each case actually needs a different approach - but that is not what we are told, is it? If the statistics say that 1 in 10 people are currently on some form of an anti-depressant and that the intake of these drugs has tripled in the last decade, it just tells me one thing. There is a group of people sitting around right now making more money than you can imagine, laughing at us all the way to the bank. What's becoming more obvious to me is that we are only getting the evidence that the drug companies want us to have and that doctors and patients are getting more and more deceived by the day. This leads to millions of confused people taking anti-depressants, suffering further, and getting poorer.

Our trust in science has sadly come to an end, and what is making us sick is also making us more depressed. This is important. I have a friend named Carol and she suffered from anxiety and depression for years, going from drug to drug trying to find a cure. Eventually she found out that the underlying cause of all of her problems was food allergies. That's right, FOOD ALLERGIES. That was the cause of her long struggle with anxiety and depression. When she took care of the food allergies her depression went away, she lost weight and got her life back. Now she feels and looks amazing and has thrown all of the pills she was taking away. This is just one single case. Many other cases have shown that when heavy metals such as Mercury are detoxified from our blood, that depression was lifted as a result. What does this tell us all in the end? It tells us that we must fix the cause of the sickness, not try to manage the sickness itself with pills.

I can't tell you how tired I was of hearing the same lies over and over again from people that were supposed to be supporting me through my Generalized Anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and other mental health challenges. Often I face a new client who, because of the lies they've been fed through the many ways they tried to find an answer to their problem, becomes more confused and anxious because of what they are reading online or what people are telling them, and it stops now! Let's not forget the lies you create yourself as well that stick like glue and lead you in a vicious fearful cycle. Let's end the BS once and for all and begin getting honest with ourselves today!

Lie #1) Start thinking positively and your worries will disappear - What a load of crap! I'll tell you something, I was the most positive anxious person on this planet and yet my mind knew it was all a cover up to what was really going on in my mind subconsciously and consciously. Don't live a life of delusion - tell yourself the truth, things are NOT really OK.

Lie #2) Due to a chemical imbalance and your childhood environment, you are stuck with anxiety forever - when I heard this one all I could do was find ways to COPE. Through constant repetition I convinced myself that coping was the only option I had, and that I could never become the person I once was who was free, social, caring towards others, and successful. Erase this lie out of your mind starting now. Myself as well as many people I know have been on the brink of not wanting to live another day, and have come back stronger and more grateful for life than ever before.

Lie #3) You have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and experience Panic Attacks not because of you, but because of something or someone else - FALSE! YOU are the reason you feel high levels of anxiety on a daily basis, YOU are the reason panic attacks occur in your life, and YOU are the only solution. Stop searching for a pill, herb, miracle technique, and so on and begin getting to the root of the problem. Become completely fed up with your condition, realize that this must change not tomorrow but NOW, and follow a game plan - one that has actually worked for someone else - religiously until you've changed your associations to what you fear.

Lie #4) I've been struggling with anxiety for so long that it will take just as long to recover - WRONG! Over and over I've seen people just like myself struggle for years with crippling anxiety symptoms and other things related to constant worrying and fear, and over and over again I've seen people get their anxiety levels down to a level 2 or 3 (the average level in society today) from a 9 or even 10 in a short amount of time. Time is on your side and things will turn around quickly if you just remember HOW this feeling of constant worrying and panic started in the first place, and that is by repetition. You were consistent in the way you bombarded your mind with fearful thoughts that are now controlling your every move, and just as you've done in the past, you can re-condition new physical and mental programming that will show your mind that enough is enough.

I know this post was little harsh, but someone once told me that in order to change something in your life you need to start getting honest with yourself, and that's what I did. I wasn't settling with living an 'OK' life anymore, I wasn't settling with having an 'OK' relationship anymore and so on. I will definitely show you the way to success over anxiety, but if you don't take the first step, don't expect anything to change - no matter how educated you think you are about your condition.

Article Title: No-No's With Pallet Racking: Things to Avoid Doing to Maintain Safety Around the Pallet Rack System at Your Business

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Safety should always be a top priority at any company, but particularly at one that is in the material handling industry and utilizes a pallet racking system. The very construction of a pallet rack system leads to potential issues with safety, with systems that can reach from the ground floor level at a facility to the roof, with goods stored on multiple levels in between. Knowing that, you can understand why it is critical to abide by all of the recommended safety guidelines for pallet racking to ensure that people in the warehouse stay out of harm's way – and to use common sense when it comes to knowing what you should and shouldn't do around a pallet rack system. The key is to do your part to help maintain a safe work environment not only for yourself, but also for those who work around you each and every day.

    Never Exceed Load Capacity

Regardless of the manufacturer, a pallet rack system will have specific load capacity guidelines that should always be strictly followed. By storing more weight in a storage bay of a pallet racking system than it is designed to handle, you seriously compromise the structural stability of the overall system. This could lead to potential injuries to workers around the systems, as well as cause severe damage to the system itself and the goods that are being stored in the bays. Always make sure that you are well aware of the load capacity guidelines and use extreme caution when loading pallets, making sure that you don't inadvertently exceed capacity. And, if you ever notice that a portion of the pallet rack system has been overloaded, you should work to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.

    Never Climb on Racking

A pallet rack system might look similar to things you used to scale as a kid, but it's important to know that you should never climb or stand on pallet racking at any time. This includes not only climbing on the system during horseplay, but also going into the bays to retrieve single items. This is a common problem in some workplaces because some workers feel it saves time by avoiding the need to remove an entire pallet from a storage bay to retrieve one thing. It is extremely important to remember that ignoring this rule could inevitably lead to a serious injury not only to you, but to others as well.

Leave Pallet Rack Repairs to Qualified Professionals

While it may seem like an easy fix to make, the only repairs performed on pallet rack systems should be handled by qualified individuals who are properly trained. Having experienced professionals perform maintenance and repairs on the pallet racking ensure that the work will be performed correctly. On a similar note, if you ever notice damage to the pallet racking system, you should alert your company's maintenance team as quickly as possible so that the problem can be addressed. Accidents in the material handling industry can happen, such as forklifts coming into contact with the pallet rack system. However, by not addressing the issue, it could lead to structural problems with the entire system in the future, and that would place people who work around the storage system each day in harm's way.

If you've ever seen a forklift in operation, you probably thought it wouldn't be too difficult to jump into one of the vehicles and navigate with ease around a facility. Of course, that's just not the case. Like any other piece of industrial equipment used in material handling operations, forklifts are complicated vehicles that require significant training in order to operate. This is precisely the reason that only individuals who have received proper training and certification be allowed behind the controls of a forklift, without exception. There are several institutions that offer forklift training in accordance with the US Department of Labor's Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OHSA) requirements, including a number of reputable forklift dealers. And, it's vital for the sake of the business and its goods, the other equipment that may be utilized, such as a pallet rack system, and the other employees who work in the facility to only allow people who have received the proper training to serve as forklift operators.

Safety at the Forefront of Decision

Safety is of the utmost importance in the material handling industry, so it's easy to understand why forklift operators need to be properly trained before being permitted to navigate the vehicles throughout a facility. Authorizing a forklift operator who hasn't undergone the required OHSA training for industrial trucks can lead to hazardous work conditions for employees who work within the facility. Forklift operators need to understand how to navigate safely between rows of pallet racking and how to avoid obstacles such as pallets and other goods that may be present on the ground floor, not to mention avoiding coming into contact with workers. Using properly trained lift truck operators will help minimize the risk of accidents involving forklifts occurring at the workplace.

    Minimize the Chance for Damage

While employee safety is priority number one, ensuring that the goods being stored in the facility remain free of damage also is critical. Forklift operators could be subjected to navigating in extremely tight quarters in some instances, especially in warehouses where extensive pallet racking systems are present. This presents the risk of forklifts coming into contact with the pallet rack system, which could damage the industrial storage unit and perhaps even the goods that are stored on the system. The last thing you want is to incur costs because an untrained person was permitted to operate a forklift, particularly because it is a situation that can be avoided.

    Maintain an Efficient Operation

A productive business requires employees who understand and know how to do their jobs, so using trained forklift operators is necessary to reach and maintain the efficiency level you want. Lift truck operators need to know how to load and unload pallets from the racking system so you can meet your customers' needs. Without properly trained lift truck operators, it will be impossible to maintain a pace that allows you to adequately meet the production demands that allow your business to be profitable.

Finding ways to enhance safety for employees is always a smart business decision, but particularly for companies in the material handling industry, where injuries can be very serious. For warehouses that utilize pallet racking, there are measures that can be taken to help improve safety aspects for employees that work around the storage system and better maintain an overall safer work environment.

Always Follow Racking System Load Capacity Guidelines

The load capacity for each bay on your pallet rack system should always be easily visible on the system so that you can ensure you don't exceed the weight guidelines. By storing more in a storage bay than the pallet racking system is designed to handle, you seriously compromise the structural integrity of the overall system, which could put employees who work around the system at risk of injury, cause severe damage to the system, and lead to harm for the goods being stored. Always make sure that you are well aware of the load capacity guidelines and use extreme caution when loading pallets to be store on the system, making sure that you don't inadvertently place too much weight in a storage bay.

    Routinely Inspect Your Storage System

Taking the time to have your pallet rack system inspected on a regular basis can enable you to identify small problems with the structure before they become larger issues. It is a practice that not only can help you potentially save money – as a result of damage to the system or goods that are stored – but it can also prevent accidents from happening. Pallet rack inspections should always be conducted by racking experts who are trained to know exactly what to look for. However, that shouldn't prevent you from walking around the system to look for things that are amiss, such as rust, corrosion, cracks, and dents. If you ever feel that a portion of the pallet rack system needs to be repaired or replaced, the maintenance should always be performed by trained personnel to ensure the work is done properly.

Make Sure Plenty of Room for Forklifts to Operate

Facilities that utilize pallet racking systems will undoubtedly also use industrial forklifts to load and unload goods. These vehicles require ample room to operate safely, and it is extremely important that when formulating the pallet rack design that enough space is left for forklifts to maneuver. If the space is limited, even highly trained forklift operators could have trouble navigating safely around the system, and that can cause the lift trucks to come into contact with the pallet racking. A forklift coming into contact with pallet racking can compromise the structural stability of the overall system, forcing you to make costly repairs, and perhaps even footing a bill to replace a portion of the system entirely.

Continually Educate Your Employees on Safe Work Practices

Every employee should be properly trained on how to work safely in every area of the facility in which they will conduct business, as well as receive training on all equipment they may use during their day-to-day duties. It is important to remember, though, that safety training should be a continuous process. Setting up routine safety seminars is always a good idea, as is promoting to your employees that they should keep an eye out for and alert upper management of any unsafe work practices being performed.

The good news about sciatica treatment is that in all but the most extreme instances, the painful symptoms that arise as a result of the compression of the sciatic nerve can normally be managed with a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques. In most cases, surgery is only warranted when several weeks or months of less invasive treatment fails to deliver the patient the results that they want. However, before any sciatica treatment regimen can begin, it is absolutely essential that you visit the doctor and receive an accurate diagnosis about the cause, severity, and location of the problem.

One of the reasons that a professional diagnosis is so important is that sciatica can actually be caused by any number of problems within the spinal column in the lumbar spine. As we grow older, the anatomical components in the spine, such as the intervertebral discs, vertebral facet joints, and ligaments, all naturally begin to deteriorate. This is entirely normal but when any of these degenerative changes result in the compression of the sciatic nerve as it branches off the spinal cord, the body will respond with various symptoms. Chronic lower back pain, sharp leg pain, numbness and tingling in the extremities, muscle weakness, and other similar types of discomfort are all commonly reported. It is these symptoms that are often referred to colloquially as "sciatica."

Once the exact cause of the problem is located, the doctor will work closely with the patient to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that is designed to deliver meaningful relief. With that said, it is important to understand that in many cases the goal of sciatica treatment isn't to "cure" the sciatica, per se, but rather alleviate the cause of the nerve compression. In other words, the treatment might not be designed to remove an errant bone spur as much as it is to alleviate strain on the segment of the spine, increase flexibility in the back, and help ease the irritation of the sciatic nerve that stems from the bone spur.

The good news when it comes to sciatica treatment is that in most cases, individuals are able to overcome their discomfort by utilizing a regimen of nonsurgical treatment methods. The specific treatments that will be recommended to you of course depend largely on your specific prognosis and diagnosis, but in most cases some combination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, low-impact exercises, gentle stretching techniques, and hot/cold therapy will eventually deliver the results that you require. The important thing here is to remain patient and have the proper expectations for your treatment. It isn't unusual for the process to require some trial-and-error by the doctor as he or she attempts to identity the right combination of treatments for your specific situation.

In the event that several weeks or months of conservative treatment fails to deliver the lasting pain relief that you require, the prospect of sciatica surgery may be considered. While this approach is usually considered the sciatica treatment of last resort, in some instances it represents the best chance of overcoming lasting pain. Fortunately, there are a number of different procedures available to you depending on your specific condition, and you would do well to explore all of your options before consenting to any one particular surgery.

Saving money is a smart business practice regardless of industry. For businesses in the material handling industry, there is a great way to enjoy savings when it comes to purchasing industrial storage systems: buying used pallet rack. Choosing to purchase used pallet racking from a reputable pallet rack dealer is a great way to obtain a high-quality system you can trust will be an area where you can safely store your goods at a fraction of what it would cost for a completely new storage system. If you own a business where utilizing a pallet rack storage system would be ideal for your operation and you have never considered buying used pallet racking, you could benefit from learning more about the outstanding benefits you could enjoy, such as using the money saved in the acquisition of a storage system in other areas to help your company continue to grow.

    Work with a Reputable Dealer

Once you have determined that a pallet rack system would best serve as the industrial storage solution for your business, the key is to locate a reputable pallet rack dealer. Some things you should look for in a company that sells used pallet rack is how long the company has been in business, its reputation for supplying quality used racking systems, and whether or not the company uses qualified pallet rack inspectors to look over the systems before they are made available for sale. While business longevity and reputation are important when choosing a company to deal with for a used pallet rack purchase, selecting one that uses qualified personnel to inspect used pallet rack systems is vitally important. This will ensure that the system you are receiving will be sturdy enough to meet your storage requirements in your day-to-day operations.

Most reputable companies that deal in used pallet racking systems have experts on staff who thoroughly inspect all of the pre-owned storage systems that are in stock before they are made available for sale, ensuring customers only receive pallet racking that is durable and reliable. Purchasing a used pallet rack system from one of these dealers can enable you to obtain the optimal storage solution for your business without worrying that you are sacrificing durability for savings. This should help ease concerns that some business owners may have with used equipment, such as putting the goods they are planning to store at risk of being damaged because of faulty storage equipment. There are pallet rack dealers that sell used pallet rack as is, and you'll be taking a risk by purchasing one of these systems because there is no verification of its structural stability. With the goal being to purchase used pallet racking that will last for years to come, it's not really a risk worth taking.

    How Much Can You Save?

Just how much can you save by purchasing a used pallet rack system? With many reputable dealers, you can find a comparable used racking system at up to 50 percent off the price of new, with some dealers even offering savings of up to 80 percent. When you take a moment to think about how that money can be spent on other equipment for your operation, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, conveyor systems, or even additional pallet racking – you begin to understand just how beneficial buying used racking instead of new can be. Plus, when taking your business to a reputable pallet rack dealer, you will likely find a selection of used racking systems from the top brand names, like Unarco, Speedrack, Wireway Husky, and Interlake Mecalux.

You have identified that a pallet rack system would serve as the ideal storage solution for your business, but you are unsure exactly how to go about determining which specific type of pallet racking would be best. If this sounds familiar, don't fret. There are many different types of pallet racking available – from push back rack and gravity flow rack systems to drive-in and drive-through pallet racking systems – and determining which one would help your business enjoy the most efficient storage possible can be an arduous task. The good news is that recognizing and understanding the importance of having the proper pallet racking system in place – and how vital it is to efficiently storing your goods and maintaining a productive business – is the first step. Now, you can concentrate on doing some research to determine which type of system would best meet the storage needs of your specific company.

Analyze the Specific Needs of Your Business

There are several questions you will need to answer in order to identify the right type of pallet racking system for your business. For starters, what types of products are you going to be storing? How much inventory will you need to store? What type of inventory rotation (loading and unloading) will there be? And what type of loading and unloading equipment, such as forklifts and pallet trucks, do you plan to use? Learning the answers to these questions will allow you to fully understand your business's needs, and will go a long way toward helping you find the perfect pallet racking system for your facility.

For instance, if you will be storing perishable items and would need access to every pallet on the system at all times, then single-deep pallet racking would be ideal. If you are storing machine parts which won't be affected by extended shelf life, then a higher-density pallet racking option, such as a gravity flow rack, would suit your needs better. Knowing how your business operates will enable you to peg whether a last-in, first out (LIFO) or a first-in, first-out (FIFO) pallet rack system would be best, help you understand what type of density requirements you will require, and even determine what type of material handling equipment will be needed to safely load and unload your goods.

Take Accurate Measurements of Your Facility

Taking advantage of all the available space at your facility is crucial, so it's is imperative for accurate measurements of the facility to be available in order for you to construct the most efficient layout for your pallet rack system. In order to maximize your storage capabilities, you will not only need to measure the outer dimensions of your building but also the height, since pallet racking systems are used to store goods on multiple levels. By getting a firm, accurate reading on the dimensions of your facility, you will have a good start of determining your exact storage system layout. You will still need to get dimensions on the specific pallet rack system you intend to use (so you know how many rows and levels of racking you can include), as well as the appropriate space needed for your material handling equipment to operate safely (so you know how much space to leave between aisles) in order to complete your pallet rack design.

Seek Advice from Qualified Racking Professionals

There is always a benefit in leaning on qualified individuals for guidance, and it is highly recommended that you seek the services of the trained pallet racking expert during the process of choosing a new or used pallet rack system. Utilizing the expertise of a qualified individual can allow you to erase any doubts that you are making the proper storage system decision for your business.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

When it comes to receiving a sciatica diagnosis, it is absolutely essential that you rely on the expertise of a trained spine specialist. While many people may think that they can recognize the basic symptoms of sciatica, such as chronic leg pain, back pain, or a sensation of numbness in the extremities, in reality, these symptoms can be caused a number of different ways. In fact, sciatica isn't a condition in and of itself. Rather, the word sciatica is used to describe the symptoms that arise as a result of the compression of the sciatic nerve in the lumbar spine. As a result, the ultimate goal of a "sciatica diagnosis" is less about determining that the sciatic nerve is compressed and more about identifying the root cause of the issue. Only once an accurate diagnosis is made can the discussion shift to possible treatment options.

While sciatica can conceivably be caused by a traumatic or sports-related injury, most often these symptoms develop as a result of the natural degeneration that occurs within the lumbar spine in the lower back. Over the years, the anatomical components that allow for the full range of motion we require in our back tend to deteriorate because of normal wear and tear. However, when this degeneration advances to the point that the sciatic nerve is affected, symptoms can develop.

The difficulty in treating sciatica is that you need to have a clear understanding of what is causing the problem in order to effectively manage the symptoms. This is made even more challenging when you consider that sometimes symptoms can be experienced in parts of the body that are seemingly unrelated to the lumbar spine. For instance, one possible symptom of sciatic nerve compression is numbness and tingling in the feet.

The good news is that by working with a spine specialist, obtaining an accurate sciatica diagnosis is possible. Generally speaking, this diagnosis process first begins with an overview of your condition, health, and lifestyle. The goal here is to be as vivid as possible when you answer his or her questions because even small details may prove essential in identifying the root cause of the issue. You should also prepare for a physical examination wherein the doctor will apply pressure in the lower back to get a better sense of from where exactly the issue stems. This may be somewhat uncomfortable but is an integral step in the sciatica diagnosis.

Finally, most doctors will rely on medical imagery technology to confirm a diagnosis. The use of an MRI, CT scan, or X-ray is all possible because these tools can pinpoint the problem, ensure that no other underlying issue is to blame for your discomfort, and help the doctor determine the severity of the problem.

Then, once the sciatica diagnosis is made, the conversation can turn to what treatment options are available to you. These options vary widely, but more often than not a combination of nonsurgical methods will be able to deliver the results you like over the course of several weeks or months.

To understand common sciatica symptoms requires a better understanding of what sciatica is. This is because while the term "sciatica" is often spoken of as if it is a condition in and of itself, this isn't entirely accurate. Instead, sciatica technically refers to the symptoms that arise as a result of the compression of the sciatic nerve in the lower body. In other words, "sciatica symptoms" is in many ways redundant. That said, sciatica can present in a number of different ways, ranging in severity and type depending on the cause of the problem, the severity of the issue, the specific patient, and other contributing factors. So what is the sciatic nerve and why is it so important?

The sciatic nerve extends from the base of the spinal cord in the lower back and extends downward through your body before culminating in the feet near the toes. This nerve is the widest and thickest in the body and instrumental in allowing us our ability to move around. In short, the sciatic nerve is one of – if not the – most important nerves in the body. Yet, why is sciatica and similar symptoms, so prevalent in many individuals?

The lumbar spine in the lower back is extremely flexible and also supports the majority of the body's weight. The problem is that over the years this region of the spine is especially susceptible to wear and tear, which can cause the anatomical elements of the spine to naturally deteriorate. These degenerative changes are entirely normal, but can sometimes lead to the constriction of the sciatic nerve, which causes sciatica to develop. Symptoms of this condition stem from this irritation that can be caused by everything from a herniated intervertebral disc or arthritic inflammation to the presence of a bone spur or the misalignment of the vertebral column.

Specifically, sciatica is typically associated with sharp, debilitating leg pain, but in reality, the irritation of the sciatic nerve can cause various symptoms because the regular function of the nerve is being interfered with when it is constricted. As a result, this can cause symptoms to ostensibly develop just about anywhere in the lower body, depending on the location and cause of the problem, so numbness or tingling in the feet could actually be traced to a problem in the lower back. Other common symptoms include localized pain, pain that radiates along the length of the nerve, a sensation of pins and needles, diminished reflexes, fatigue, and other similar issues.

In order to effective manage the symptoms of sciatica, it is incumbent on a doctor to identify the origin of the problem and develop a personally tailored treatment plan designed to alleviate the constriction. Treatment options vary depending on the unique diagnosis, but more often than not a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques can be used effectively to address the problem. The use of low impact exercise, hot/cold therapy, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories are particularly effective. Only in select circumstances is surgery necessary in order to permanently alleviate the irritation of the sciatic nerve and subsequent sciatica symptoms.

Having a basic understanding of the most common sciatica causes is a good way to help try and minimize the likelihood that you'll ever have to deal with the condition. However, before we can get into a frank discussion about the causes and risk factors associated with this irksome condition, it is first important to have a basic understanding of what sciatica actually is.

Sciatica is one of those words that is often thrown around colloquially to encompass a litany of symptoms in the lower half of the body. However, technically speaking, sciatica is a condition that develops as a direct result to the compression of the sciatic nerve. This nerve is the largest and widest in the body and is vitally important in regular movement. Beginning at the base of the spinal cord in the lower back (lumbar spine), the sciatic nerve extends downward through the buttocks, hips, legs, and knees, before culminating in the feet near the toes. And while sciatic can conceivably develop anywhere along the sciatic nerve, it is without a question most commonly traced to a problem within the spinal column.

The problem that some people have with the lumbar spine is that this region of the spinal column has the burden of supporting the majority of the body's weight and is also highly flexible. As a result, wear and tear tends to take its toll on the spine and injuries to the lower back are extremely common. Over the years, the intervertebral discs that cushion the spine wear out and rupture, the vertebral joints that connect adjacent vertebrae become arthritic, ligaments calcify, osteophytes develop, and muscles weaken. This is all entirely normal, but when any of these changes result in the irritation of the sciatic nerve, the symptoms of sciatica develop.

One of the hard parts about diagnosing this condition is that sciatica causes all sorts of sensations to be experienced depending on the location and severity of the problem. It's true that most people associate sciatica with chronic leg pain, this is just one example of the symptoms that can arise as a result of this nerve irritation. What's more, sciatic often causes symptoms to develop far away from the origin of the problem, which can further complicate the diagnosis and treatment process. For instance, if you suddenly notice numbness or tingling in one of your feet, you might not immediately assume that the cause of the issue is in the lower back. As a result, all too often patients waste time trying to treat the symptom and not the underlying cause of the issue.

What's more, it is important to remember that sciatica isn't a condition in and of itself that can be treated. Instead, it is incumbent on the doctor to determine the cause of the sciatic nerve compression in order to identify the specific course of treatment that will give you the best chance of overcoming your discomfort. Treatment options vary widely from patient to patient but in most cases a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques, such as stretching exercises, the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and hot/cold therapy deliver the results that the patient needs.

A slipped disc is a colloquial term that is often used to describe pain and other symptoms that stem from a problem in one of the intervertebral discs. However, it is important to understand that this term is nothing more than a misnomer that gives a false sense of what the problem actually is within the spinal column. Instead of thinking about the disc slipping – as if it has slid out of position – imagine that the disc or inner disc material is extruding beyond its normal parameters, as is the case with a herniated or bulging disc. To better illustrate this phenomenon it can be helpful to have a basic understanding of the anatomy of the intervertebral disc.

In the spine, adjacent vertebrae are cushioned and separated by thick, spongy pads that are called intervertebral discs. Each disc is essentially made of two main parts, a tough, fibrous outer shell called the annulus fibrosus and gel-like nuclear material called the nucleus pulposus. These two components work harmoniously to provide the disc both its strength and flexibility that are so important in the spine for allowing regular movement. The issue with these intervertebral discs, however, is that over time they have a tendency to wear out – particularly in the neck and lower back where the spine is especially flexible and the burden of supporting significant body weight takes its toll.

When it comes to the intervertebral discs, two main problems can develop (each of which may be erroneously called a "slipped disc). For starters, when the annulus fibrosus becomes weak and thinned, pressure placed on the wall by the nucleus pulposus can cause the disc to bulge out of position between the vertebrae. This condition is known as a bulging disc. The annulus fibrosus can also rupture, causing the nucleus pulposus to seep into the spinal canal and out of the disc. This condition is known as a herniated (or ruptured) disc.

While both of these conditions refer to damage or deterioration to the intervertebral disc, you'll note that in neither instance does the disc "slip" out of position. Additionally, it is important to understand that while these conditions may sound troublesome, in many cases they are completely asymptomatic and will heal on their own over time. Typically, disc issues only become painful when the herniated disc material or bulged disc wall comes in contact with a nerve or the spinal cord. In this instance, a litany of symptoms can conceivably develop, such as numbness or tingling in the extremities, traveling pain, or muscle fatigue, but without question the most common symptom of nerve compression is chronic, localized pain.

In order to effectively treat the symptoms of nerve compression, it is absolutely essential to involve a spine specialist. Once it is determined what is causing the so-called "slipped disc," a comprehensive, personally tailored treatment plan can be developed. More often than not a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques, such as the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, low-impact exercise, hot/cold therapy, and other similar methods will deliver the lasting results needed. In other instances, surgery may be suggested to remove the source of the nerve constriction.

If you think that you might be experiencing the symptoms of a slipped disc, it is important that you visit a doctor to diagnose the origin of the problem and to learn about the numerous treatment options that are available to you. In most cases, discomfort stemming from a problem with an intervertebral disc can be managed effectively with a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques, but only a professional will be able to create a personally tailored, comprehensive treatment plan that will work for your unique circumstance.

Before we can discuss the specific symptoms that may accompany a so-called slipped disc, it will first be helpful to explore what it means to have the condition. First and foremost, the term "slipped disc" is technically not medically accurate. An intervertebral disc does not slip out of its normal boundaries between adjacent vertebrae. So, as it turns out, the phrase slipped disc is simply a colloquial expression used to describe back or neck pain. With that said, while discs don't slip, per se, they certainly do bulge, rupture, and weaken, which can lead to a litany of symptoms.

Over the years, the intervertebral discs are susceptible to wear and tear, especially in the lower back and neck where tremendous weight burden and high flexibility tend to accelerate deterioration. When the thick outer wall of the disc – called the annulus fibrosus – weakens and bulges into the spinal canal, the individual is said to have a bulging disc. If the annulus fibrosus ruptures and allows the inner disc material to seep out of the disc and into the spinal canal, it is said that the individual has a herniated disc. Each of these conditions can cause the individual discomfort that they might label as slipped disc symptoms.

One of the difficulties in identifying the effects of a deteriorated or damaged disc is that it can cause a variety of symptoms depending on the location and severity of the problem. For instance, a herniated disc in the neck can cause discomfort in the neck, shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, and throughout the upper body. A bulging disc in the lower back, on the other hand, might cause localized pain, as well as symptoms throughout the legs, thighs, buttocks, knees, feet, and toes. Furthermore, the specific symptoms experienced vary widely from localized, chronic pain to numbness and tingling in the extremities, diminished reflexes, muscle fatigue, or even a sensation of pins and needles.

The good news about each of these symptoms is that in most cases a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical treatment is usually all that is required to manage discomfort. The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, low impact exercise, gentle stretching techniques, heat therapy, and other similar approaches are particularly effective and popular. Only in instances when all other treatments have failed to deliver lasting results is surgery considered and even then there are all sorts of options available ranging from open spine surgery to a state-of-the-art endoscopic procedure. To learn more speak with your doctor today.

If you're like most Americans, you've dealt with some form of neck or back pain at one time or another and you know that even the slightest discomfort can ruin your day. While the specific cause of your neck or back pain most likely remains a mystery, you probably chalk up your discomfort to sleeping awkwardly the night before or pushing a little too hard in that flag football game you participated in over the weekend.

What you may not know is that your neck or back could arise from the effects of the normal, degenerative changes that take place in the spine over time. As you grow older, the components that make up your spine – vertebrae, intervertebral discs, facet joints, ligaments, tendons, etc. – will begin to suffer from wear and tear. Discs lose water content and become brittle, facet joint cartilage wears away, and ligaments calcify. While some of these instances can cause some pain on their own, it's often the compression (pinching) of the spinal cord or its nerve roots that cause the most discomfort. Symptoms of pain, numbness, weakness, and tingling in the extremities typically result from nerve compression.

Treatment of these symptoms, though not an exact science, often begins with doctor-recommended, conservative (nonsurgical) treatments.

Common Nonsurgical Therapies for Neck or Back Pain

Most members of the mainstream medical community recommend conservative treatments for neck and back pain because they are considered to be generally effective at symptom mitigation. Some treatments, however, may not be as effective for you as they are for another patient, so expect to go through a period of trial and error while you find the combination of treatments that best help relieve your discomfort.

The following are some of the most common nonsurgical therapies used to treat spine conditions:

Physical therapy – Physical therapy treatments involve strengthening and stretching exercises to improve core strength, flexibility, and overall body mechanics. This treatment may also involve thermotherapy, cryotherapy, TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), and other methods.

Heat therapy – Also known as thermotherapy, this treatment involves applying heat in the form of heating pads or other means to the affected area of the spine. Heat therapy helps ease muscle tension and encourage nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood flow to the area.

Cold therapy – Also known as cryotherapy, this treatment involves applying cold in the form of ice or cold compresses to the affected region of the spine. Cold therapy helps numb pain and reduce inflammation, and is sometimes used alternately with thermotherapy.

Anti-inflammatory drugs – Over-the-counter or prescription anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen and ibuprofen aid in reducing inflammation and relieving mild to moderate pain.

Muscle relaxants – Muscle tightness and spasticity can significantly contribute to the development of neck or back pain, so muscle relaxants are often prescribed to help relieve these symptoms.

Anti-anxiety medications – These medications are commonly prescribed to encourage muscle relaxation and help block nerve pain.

    Additional Options

Along with conservative therapies, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is another category of treatments that you may choose to explore. While these methods are not recognized as effective means of symptom relief by most members of the mainstream medical community, many other patients report finding significant relief from certain CAM treatments, whether they are used in conjunction with or in lieu of conservative methods. Some of the most commonly used CAM treatments include massage, yoga, acupuncture, herbal therapy, spinal manipulation, and others.

    Talk to Your Physician

It's best to consult with your physician before you start any treatment regimen to combat neck or back pain. This is particularly important because certain treatments may interact dangerously with each other and have the potential to worsen your symptoms or cause harm. Furthermore, if you wish to attempt any CAM treatments, it's advisable to also consult with an experienced CAM professional in addition to your physician.

Your dream is to become an entrepreneur, captain of the ship, and master of your own destiny. You have striking talent and the requisite drive, and maybe you've grown weary of spending all of your time and effort working for someone else. If you've always wanted to start your own company, maybe the time is now.

There's no question that launching a business can be satisfying and rewarding. On the other hand, the sheer lack of a safety net can be unnerving and paralyzing to many aspiring business owners. That's quite understandable, though, especially when you consider the hard reality that approximately 80 percent of all new businesses fail within their first three years of existence.

Nevertheless, many people succeed at transforming their self-employment dreams into reality. You can, too, by learning from and drawing on the experiences of others. There is a wealth of information available – be sure to take advantage of it. Carefully study the business models that have succeeded, but spend even more time examining those that have failed. As you do, you'll notice several overriding themes emerge.

    Clarity of Vision

To start and maintain a successful business, you must have a clear vision. Think carefully about your purpose, or the driving force that brought you to this point in the first place: What are you trying to accomplish, and why? Define a compelling goal that guides the way, like a beacon that shines brightly before you. It should speak to your very core, consume you, and draw you toward success. Without such a vision, you'll find it much too easy to make excuses and give up when things get tough. And rest assured, things will get tough.

Surely, you've heard the expression "Failure is not an option," which is commonly credited to a flight director in NASA's Mission Control. This is the creed that you, too, must live by. Simply put, if you lack the clarity of purpose to forge ahead, you won't. And your mission will fail. Do not allow this to happen.

    Support From Those Around You

Here's the truth: Starting a new business is hard work. But it's also more than that – it's all-consuming. You're a hard worker, though, and this is your dream, so you're undoubtedly ready. But what about the people around you? Keep in mind that once you embark on this exciting new journey, your family, spouse, loved ones, friends, and partners will necessarily be impacted in a number of ways.

Essentially, a new business is "do or die," and it will all depend on you, especially in the beginning. The more you put into it, the more likely it will succeed. Therefore, you will need to adopt an "all the time" mentality and lifestyle. This will likely mean workdays that stretch into evenings, work weeks that infringe upon weekends, and limited, if any, opportunities for vacations. These circumstances can present a real hardship to others who require or want your time. To ensure the success of both your business and your personal relationships, you will need to secure the initial and continuing buy-in, support, and understanding of everyone you care about.

With a clear vision that you take pride in, and the support of your family and friends, you'll be poised for victory. Just remember: The business person who achieves great success with his or her very first venture is rare. If – or, more accurately, when – you experience a setback, don't be discouraged. Instead, step back, take a breath, evaluate what went wrong, determine how you can improve, and focus on the positives. When you truly enjoy what you do, success is almost certain to follow.

Just about everyone would like to improve their health and feel better. But exactly what does that mean? In general terms, a healthy lifestyle can be defined by four basic criteria: proper nutrition, weight maintenance, exercise, and not smoking.

Many people cite a lack of time as the reason they forgo participation in wellness initiatives. For example, after working all day they may feel too overwhelmed and tired to prepare a wholesome meal or exercise, so they grab some fast food and camp out on the couch instead. However, a healthy lifestyle doesn't necessarily require hours spent sweating at the gym or shopping for the hard-to-find ingredients needed to prepare complicated meals. There are many simple steps you can take to enhance your well-being – so simple, in fact, that you might not even notice that you're doing them. With such minimal effort required, there's really no excuse not to give these tips a try!

    Nutrition

One easy way to adopt a healthy eating strategy is to incorporate into your diet certain "super foods" that have been identified by the country's top dieticians and nutritionists. For example, you may be able to curb your junk food cravings by savoring the delicious variety of fresh fruits that are readily available at your local supermarket. Relish the vibrant flavors of antioxidant-rich berries, such as blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries, which can help reduce your risk of certain age-related illnesses. You might top your cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, or salad with a mix of fresh berries and mighty walnuts, an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential nutrients that can boost your good cholesterol (HDL) and lower your bad cholesterol (LDL). Or, simply enjoy a bowl of fruits and nuts on their own for breakfast, dessert, or as your "go-to" snack.

Another way you might resist the temptation to swing by the drive-through for a burger and fries on your way home from work is to stock up on boneless, skinless, chicken breasts. This dinner-time staple is never boring because it can be incorporated into an endless variety of recipes. Or, simply toss a few on the grill for a quick and satisfying meal. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, chicken is chock-full of essential vitamins and nutrients. The leanest part of the bird, a half chicken breast has more than 22 grams of protein and just 2.5 grams of fat, which also make it an ideal choice for weight maintenance.

    Exercise

Being active is crucial to good health and well-being. In addition to the numerous physical benefits of a regular fitness routine, your mood will improve because you will feel revitalized and relaxed following the natural release of stress-relieving endorphins that is stimulated by a workout. Indeed, regular exercise can help anyone lead a healthier and more joyful life.

You needn't miss out on these amazing benefits just because you're short on time. For example, when you get home from work, you might take a 30-minute walk outside, breathe in the fresh air, and revel in your surroundings. Invite your children and spouse to come along and chat about the day's events. And don't forget your dog, who needs his daily dose of exercise, too.

If you have work to do around the house (and who doesn't?), keep in mind that housework can be a great form of exercise. Break down your cleaning chores into manageable projects targeted for one afternoon or weekend, and you'll be making great progress and feeling great in no time. Afterwards, you'll delight in the sense of calm inspired by clean and clutter-free surroundings, along with the satisfaction of knowing that you've incorporated some physical activity into your day.

Your time and your health should never be at odds with each other. Without a doubt, spending your valuable time on yourself is one of the most important investments you will ever make.

In order to have a website hosted on the best servers, a person must first find the best web hosting directory. All the top web hosting companies make it a priority to be listed on high quality web hosting directories. From these large directories, you can browse the various web hosting packages offered by the biggest hosting companies in the industry. From a good directory you should also find other important pieces of information about a web hosting company such as: reliability of their services, available features, prices, limits, and much more.

Apart from seeing the services offered by web hosts, you can find a host of reviews about the web hosting companies. The reviews are mostly user-submitted and can be relied on to paint the correct picture of web hosting providers. There are numerous websites going online every day and unfortunately not all of them get a proper start on the Internet. In order to grow a website you have to find the company that will not only help you to get the website online but also provide support whenever necessary to keep it active.

There are many web hosting service directories on the Internet featuring a plethora of hosting companies. An example of just one of these many large and quality hosting directories with customer reviews is Hostingdir1.net. However it is important to know what you are getting into when choosing a web host and the best way to do that is to go through as many web hosting reviews as possible. The best web hosting service directories have more than enough reviews to help people to pick from the virtually unlimited web hosting providers. Companies provide many services such as ASP.Net web hosting and FTP hosting. Depending on the functionality that you want in your website, you can tell from the reviews which companies have the best product.

The advantage, when compared to its free counterpart, certainly goes more towards paid web hosting services. Web hosting is a simple job and has led to the creation of many web hosts. It is not expensive to have your website hosted even when you go with huge companies. There are many companies that host websites free of charge. However, a word of caution is in order for people who prefer free web hosting - such people who host their websites with these companies have little control of the websites and there is also a risk of losing entire websites due to the companies closing unexpectedly. A good example is one of the world's biggest free web hosts, Geocities, which was abruptly closed even though it hosted more than a million websites.

It is not possible to name one company as the best ASP.Net web hosting simply because the products offered by the companies vary quite a bit. What end users have to figure out are the priorities that they have when it comes to choosing a hosting company. The important point is that whatever is top among your list of priorities, there is certainly a company to provide it.

Website owners are often torn between the option of hosting their own websites or using third party hosting companies. With companies such as Royal Web Hosting, you can get free web hosting services which can be very tempting. There are many benefits that come with third party hosting companies as shall be discussed in this article. An important thing to note is that free FTP hosting is better for personal websites but business websites need a lot more flexibility - the kind that can only be found in paid web hosting services.

The first benefit of using web hosting company is an unparalleled level of reliability. By choosing to host your own websites, you are not properly prepared for unforeseen circumstances which may lead to significant amount of downtime. This could cause loss of business and make customers very unhappy. In order to ensure virtually no downtime, you should pick a web hosting company for your website. Royal Web Hosting has round-the-clock monitoring of all systems, best-in-class hardware, and even UPS systems and a diesel generator to make sure that nothing interferes with the availability of hosted websites.

Web hosting companies can also provide you with free domain name and website builder if you are a novice in web design. By hosting your own site, you can be sure that no technical support will be available in case of trouble with your website. Again, this could cause customers to be dissatisfied. If, for instance, your site has a high commission affiliate program, your users will not appreciate server downtime or an unresponsive website. A free hosting plan from Royal Web Hosting can provide you with 250 MB of disc space, 5 Gigs of Monthly traffic, and one domain hosting. Paid hosting plans provide unlimited disc space and traffic as well as 2 domains hosting.

Another great benefit of hosting companies is backups. If you host your own website and important files get deleted, you will require a long time to regenerate the lost files. With web hosting companies, even those that provide free web hosting, you don't need to buy a backup server because most of them back up their users' data. Websites that provide free FTP hosting are particularly helpful in providing backup services because of the importance of the data hosted.

Another great benefit of using a hosting company like Royal Web Hosting is that there is a lot of flexibility. Whenever you want to integrate new features to your website, the process is simple and you can get vital support to get the new features working. Even if you used a free domain name and website builder, you can quickly get newly developed websites up and running. In addition to flexibility, you get a lot of security when using web hosting companies. This is because the companies utilize the latest technologies and update their services to keep clients' websites safe from Internet threats. With Royal Web Hosting, you can benefit from SSL secured servers with 256-bit encryption to protect sensitive data from malicious individuals.

Were you aware one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World is the Grand Canyon, which is located right here in the American Southwest? That shouldn't be a surprise. The scenic vistas offered at the canyon are simply spectacular. I don't think any other place is quite like it.

    Family Fun

The Grand Canyon is the ideal family vacation destination. Besides the obvious sightseeing (there's nothing like it!), you can even take a smooth-water rafting trip down the Colorado River. These float tours are perfect for family members of all ages, the water is so calm that seniors and children over four are permitted.

It is difficult to appreciate how massive the Grand Canyon is when you arrive. When you are on top of the rim, the Colorado River is nearly a mile below you on the canyon floor. From that perspective, it looks like a ribbon glinting in the sun, but actually, the Colorado River is a mighty force that carved the canyon from rock over a span of hundreds of millions of years. Grand Canyon float tours give you an ?up-close-and-personal? view of the river and you'll be awed by the canyon walls towering above you.

Some visitors to the Grand Canyon like to stay on top of the rim and explore. Some hardy people like to hike down to the canyon floor. That would be difficult to do if you're traveling with younger children or senior citizens. Still, your family can get to the bottom of the canyon in other ways so you can better appreciate the region on a float tour.

Kids tend to love nature, and one of these tours is the ideal way to get them involved in environmental issues and natural history. Floating along the river is exciting for everyone and the views are indescribable, plus it is educational for the kids.

    Colorado River

As you float by interesting rock formations, your kids will see basic geology up close. The tireless force of the Colorado River chiseled the Grand Canyon from the limestone in the Kaibab Plateau. Your kids will be amazed at the thought of it, especially when they see the rocks with their own eyes. It is mind boggling what erosion will do over eons of time.

Keep your kids engaged and have them be on lookout for wildlife such as the California condor, hawks, bighorn sheep, and rock squirrels. Observing plants and animals in their natural habitat helps your kids learn about the delicate balance of nature. Your kids can learn what different animals look like, where they live, and get an idea of what they eat and whether they're dangerous if provoked.

The Grand Canyon area is rich in Native American history too. Hualapai Indians have lived in the Grand Canyon thousands of years and now own the land at the West Rim. The Hualapai have become creative in ways to earn money from their land since the old ways of hunting for a living are gone, and one of the things they do is earn income from the Skywalk glass bridge.

    To Wrap Up

Every teacher and parent knows it's important to keep children's interest. Although most kids are inquisitive, they also have shorter attention spans than most adults. The best way to fight boredom is to change the topic often. That is what makes smooth-water rafting so educational for your kids, it is exciting and the view is constantly changing so they stay interested. Your children will learn interesting things about wildlife and geology when touring the Grand Canyon, but most importantly, they will have great fun.

If you're planning a trip to exciting Las Vegas, why not make it even better by adding a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon? Las Vegas helicopters fly to the West Rim, 365 days a year – even on major holidays!

Although Las Vegas helicopters are limited to the West Rim (flights to the South Rim are beyond their range), they're a terrific way to see this magnificent place. If you'll be based in Vegas but you really want to see the South Rim from a 'copter, an airplane tour can take you there. This tour is a nice package because it includes an exciting chopper flight from the South Rim to the North Rim and back.

There are two types of Grand Canyon tours on Las Vegas helicopters: aerial flights and landing tours. The aerial version flies to the Rim, circles the highlights and then returns to Vegas. These tours are great for folks who are short on time or have limited budgets. That being said, I strongly prefer landing tours even though they cost more - they give you a more in-depth experience.

All of these tours (aerial and landing) come with free hotel shuttle service. And they all fly over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam before arriving at the canyon. From there they start to get different.

As I mentioned earlier, aerial tours fly to the canyon, circle the West Rim highlights and then fly back to Las Vegas. The most popular landing flight lands on the canyon bottom and includes a champagne picnic while you're there. An upgraded version (I call it "everything including the kitchen sink") adds a float trip down the Colorado River and VIP access to the exhilarating Grand Canyon Skywalk.

All these tours are incredibly popular. People love Las Vegas helicopters for a lot of different reasons: the flight itself is exciting; you get up-close views of the canyon highlights (buses can't do that and choppers can fly lower than planes); they show you more of the Grand Canyon than you'd ever see from a bus; and the views you get from a chopper really show you how immense and magnificent the canyon really is.

Your pilot will point out the native wildlife beneath you (maybe you'll see some rare California condors!). You'll learn about the creation of the Grand Canyon – carved out of solid rock over hundreds of millions of years by the waters of the Colorado River. If you take the tour that lands on the bottom, you might see some ancient Native American rock drawings – the area has been inhabited for thousands of years.

Because Las Vegas helicopters are so popular, you'll need to book your flight well in advance. I recommend booking a minimum of a week ahead (two is even better) so you have the best chance of snagging the tour and departure time you really want (mornings and sunset flights are best).

Make sure you book your tour online. Stay away from the big-box travel sites: the tour companies have the lowest rates. As long as you complete your purchase on the tour operator's site, you'll qualify for a great Internet discount. I've saved up to 30% off retail this way … and not just once, either!

Las Vegas helicopters are a terrific way to explore the Grand Canyon. So buckle up and get ready to have a great time!

Up to a mile deep, 18 miles wide, and a jaw-dropping 277 miles long, the Grand Canyon is a stupendous chasm in the Earth's surface. In fact, it's one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Approximately 5 million people visit the canyon each year.

You can see the Grand Canyon a few different ways. Grand Canyon motor coach tours are one of the most enjoyable, and they're also one of the least expensive ways to visit the National Park. People of all ages and physical conditions enjoy motor coach tours. The following offers some important information about Grand Canyon bus tours.

You need to decide first of all whether you will go to the South Rim or the West Rim. If you want to see the most beautiful natural sights, head to the South Rim. Renowned Yavapai Point is just one of the wonderful lookouts at this rim. If you prefer a more adventurous experience, head to the West Rim. If you dare, you can take a stroll on the chilling glass Grand Canyon Skywalk there.

You'll find many tour operators for Grand Canyon trips but you want to pick one that is reputable and safe as well as offering fun tours. Also, some of the tour companies only offer basic bus tours that cover the highlights, while other tour operators offer extensive or deluxe tour versions. Below are some popular options to think about:

A half hour helicopter ride that goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back again

A fun smooth water raft ride on the river, and

A two hour stop at the top of the rim so you can explore.

You can get around at the South Rim thanks to a free shuttle bus ran by the Park. Half-day, all-day or overnight tours of the South Rim are available. Most of these motor coach tours include lunch, breakfast or dinner are also provided on all-day trips. For safety reasons, age and weight restrictions might apply to some of the more adventurous excursions. If you have mobility issues, you should check the restrictions and recommendations before you book your tour.

    Groups

Your tour of the Grand Canyon will be far more enjoyable if you bring along a lot of friends. Bus tours are the affordable way to tour with a group. Because bus tours are all-inclusive (even hotel pickup and drop-off are included), they're a great value. Grand Canyon National Park is a must for anyone who's in the Vegas area, and bus tours make it possible for just about everyone.

Booking your tour at least three days in advance is important. Since these bus tours are very popular, the usually sell out, especially during peak tourist season.

The most convenient and least expensive way to reserve your tour is by booking on the Internet. Booking your seats online saves money, and it is fast and secure. Just fill out the online booking form. When you're done, you will get an email confirmation of your tour details.

    To Summarize

You can take a bus tour of the Grand Canyon every day, including holidays. Bring your camera because your bus will stop for photo ops along the way. You will also have the chance to hike along the rim to see the canyon up close, and you will enjoy a fun barbecue lunch. Compare the various tour operators. Then you can pick out the ideal tour that will thrill your whole party.
