On November 16th 2013, Australia's Sydney Opera House sees the return of international singer, songwriter Mahmood Khan in what is expected to be a historic event. Khan will appear live on stage accompanied by his 10-piece band.
Khan last played at the famous opera house four years ago. The concert was recorded live with and later released the album of the recorded concert, making him an overnight success. The track "Like a River", taken from the album, hit the top spot in Australia's mainstream music chart.
Originally from Pakistan, Mahmood Khan moved to Los Angeles, USA, where he worked in music production for over 12 years. He worked his way up to become chief sound engineer and music producer for music production house prior to relocating in Australia. Khan's musical influences include artists such as brothers Barry and Maurice Gibb, famously known for their 70's film soundtrack to 'Saturday Night Fever' as pop group Bee Gees, in which they performed alongside brother Robin Gibb. John Farrar has also been mentioned as being a musical influence on Khan.
Mahmood Khan began his singing career in the mid 1990's. His first solo album was unsuccessful, but the release of his second album in 1997 sold over 6 million copies worldwide. Following the album's success Khan became a known world music artist within the industry. In 2004 he performed at the opening and closing ceremonies for the 9th South Asian Federation Games and in 2010 he was asked to sing the Pakistani national anthem at the test cricket match opening. Ironically enough the match was between Pakistan and Australia.
Further international success for Khan came in 2011 when his you-tube channel topped over 50 million viewers. It was also during this same year that Khan was deemed to be a "Distinguished talent" by the Australian government. A little more recently, he was invited to perform live on Australian television. This was a way into which he was able to showcase his most famous songs.
In between singing and songwriting, along with being a music producer and sound engineer, Mahmood Khan has also turned his talents towards filmmaking. He has directed several music videos including the one for a charity single on which he and 40 fellow Australian artists collaborated together. All proceeds from sales were donated to Australia's Red Cross Society. As recently as 2012 Khan was back in LA to begin work on a feature length film. It is believed that he has enlisted the screenplay talent of Flip Kobler. Kobler is best known for his involvement in Disney's Lion King 2 film.

World music star Mahmood Khan is set to perform a live concert at the infamous Sydney Opera House in November. The Opera House, which was built in 1953, became an inscription on the World Heritage List in June 2007. Its architect, Jorn Utzon passed away in Copenhagen in November 2008. He was 90 years old.
This performance will be Khan's first at the Opera House for four years. It was at this very place where Khan became renowned as a world music sensation. The successful release of the live album produced his first Australian chart topping hit single 'Like A River".
Khan worked for an American music production house, which saw him rise to become chief sound engineer and music producer. It was during this time that Khan began his singing career. Influenced by the infamous Gibb brothers, better known as the Bee Gees, Mahmood Khan began writing songs. He recorded his first solo album during 1995. Unfortunately this was unsuccessful as a hit record. His second album in 1997 however became an international hit. Khan was approached to compose the music for both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 9th South Asian Federation Games in 2004. Pakistani born Khan relocated from America to Australia in 2007. During 2010 Khan was asked to perform the Pakistani national anthem at the test cricket opening. The cricket match was between Australia and Pakistan. 2011 however, saw Khan gain more success. His YouTube channel reached over 50 million viewers. In the same year Khan, was stated by the Australian government to be a "distinguished talent". Khan also has a number of followers on popular social networking sites.
Khan has more recently begun work on feature length film 'Labrador'. It is said that he is writer, producer and music director of the film and he is believed to be working alongside screenplay writer Flip Kobler, who wrote the screenplay for 'Lion King 2'.
The scheduled concert in November will see Khan perform live on stage accompanied by his own 10-man band.

Legitimate Opportunities to work on-line can be hard to decipher. There are a multitude of results when you simply type in the words "legitimate on-line opportunities" however there is one opportunity in particular that shows up time and again and that is Empower Network.
The Empower Network was founded by a man who was so down on his luck he was near the breaking point. He developed a system so completely easy to use that after a short time he was recruiting more people into his fold and expanding the earning potential of everyone.
This legitimate opportunity to gain access to time tested and user approved material is ranked as a number one way to earn money. Depending on what type of earning power you are looking for either residual income that takes a small amount of your time or the freedom to work from your home at your leisure to earn your entire income, this legitimate opportunity is helping thousands of individuals reach their independent goals.
Freedom
Few jobs these days allow people the freedom to pursue their lives goals and dreams. Companies while saying they recognize the need for their workers to be available to their families still fall short on their lofty promises. At the end of the day companies are interested in their own bottom line and not that of their employees.
This opportunity allows an individual to earn money on their terms. With easy start up, support and a vast on-line reservoir of information the Empower Network is a dream come true for many stay at home parents or individuals that would rather not face a long commute back and forth to a thankless job.
How Do I Know?
How do you know this is a legitimate money making opportunity? Read the testimonies and then search for those individuals on-line. You will see that these are real people, living real lives and earning real money. Many of these individuals are now earning so much that they have been asked to coach others to do the same.
If you are still not convinced read independent articles that high light the fact the Empower Network is advertised on legitimate newspaper articles and independent news sites.
Another way to see that this is a legitimate opportunity is the fact that all the information contained within the training sites makes sense. This legitimate system takes vague concepts regarding search engine optimization (SEO) and other on-line marketing tools and put them in the hands of individuals looking for the opportunity to use them to make legitimate money.
The number of video tutorials and on-line seminars is a sure way of seeing if an opportunity is legit. If a potential on-line work from home opportunity fails to provide adequate support through phone numbers, email addresses or video conferences it is a sure sign that the site is doing a lot of flash with very little substance. A legit opportunity will give you the straight facts with the resources to back it up.

Working from home is a growing trend. The need to find legitimate on-line job opportunities can be hard and frustrating. Once you have done the research and found that number one rated work from home job opportunity the benefits will start paying off.
Less Stress
While no job is without a measure of stress working from home eliminates some of the side stress from your life.
The rush hour commute is gone. There is no need to wake up before the rooster to make it to work before the rest of the world starts moving in an effort to avoid battling traffic. If public transit is your preferred mode of transportation then you eliminate the stress of hoping to get to the stop on time and the stressed caused by delays and transit malfunctions.
Becoming your own boss eliminates the need to over work in order to impress upper management to receive a raise in pay. By working from home you become your own boss, set your own schedule and put in as much effort as you want depending on what kind of income you are trying to make. By being able to set your own schedule you can enrich your life through other pursuits such as volunteer work or greater amounts of family/friend time. Being able to work from home means that if you want to take the day off to spend on something else you can make up that time whenever you choose. There is no clock to punch.
No office means greater health benefits. No longer exposed to a constant bombardment of germs or detrimental stress health improvements follow. With fewer illnesses the need for time off for recuperation is gone. That means being able to work when you want and use time off for much desired vacations instead of wasting days off sick in bed sleeping. The amount of time you use for vacations is up to you. A lot of work from home job opportunities will empower you to be able to check in on your sites from anywhere in the world you can access the internet.
Save Money
Working from home means saving money. No giant gas bills to pay because of having to sit in traffic, being at home means being able to make your own home cooked meal and your own gourmet coffee eliminating the spontaneous luncheon out with co-workers or that $5 coffee habit. Saving money means needing to work fewer hours to accumulate the wealth you desire.
In some cases an individual can even use part of their rent/mortgage payments, utility and food bills as tax write offs. Talking to a financial tax adviser is a good idea to find all those little known ways of paying less tax and increasing a tax refund.
Research is the key to finding the right success formula for your needs and desires. Finding a legitimate opportunity that provides excellent support help and a superior earning program can be tricking but once you find the #1 rated opportunity you will find that you have an unlimited earning potential in your future.

Gulf stream Aerospace Corporation ,the business jet manufacturer based in Savannah,Georgia, has every reason to be in a celebratory mood as, during the past few weeks, it has marked two major anniversaries of milestones in its history.
The first was the 55th anniversary of the first Gulf stream 1 (G1) flight which, the company claims, was the first twin-engine turbo prop aircraft specifically designed and built for business travel.
The second celebration marked the tenth anniversary of the G550 ultra-long-range corporate jets maiden flight. This aircraft was the company's flagship until about two years ago when that hon our was taken over by its largest and latest corporate aircraft, the G650.
"The G1 laid the foundation for the state-of-art Gulf stream business jets that we deliver to customers today," said Larry Flynn, president of Gulf stream."The G1, which was created by our predecessor, Grumman Aircraft Engineering Co, was ahead of its time in many respects, including performance, comfort, versatility and reliability. More than 50 of these aircraft are still in operation around the world, a testament to the aircraft's tremendous reliability."
The company delivered 200 Gls between 1958 and 1969, when production ceased. The aircraft was used by many US and overseas corporation for business travel, but also saw service with five US government agencies and all branches of the US armed forces.
Several of the first Gulf stream aircraft were later converted into commuter airliners.
Today, more than 20 Gls operate in the US. Several other countries have Gls on their aircraft registry, including Canada, Mexico, Portugal and South Africa.
The largest fleet, with nine aircraft, is operated by Phoenix Air Group Inc, an international aircraft services company based in Carters ville, Georgia.
"Most of the principals at Phoenix Air Group would agree that the G1 platform has been an intricate and essential part of the growth and prosperity of our company," said Bob Tracey, vice president, Phoenix Air Group. "What I always say to individuals who cant believe these aircraft are 50 years old and still flying, is this: These aircraft were built by people who were assembling fighter aircraft 13 or 15 years earlier. They knew what they were doing and took a lot of pride in it. They built these aircraft to last, and they have."
The G1s maiden flight took place on August 14, 1958, over Beth page,NY, the site of Grumman headquarters .At the controls were Grumman test pilots Carl Alber and Fred Rowley.
After approximately 800 hours of additional testing, the turbo-prop G1 received US Federal Aviation Agency certification on May 21, 1959, which was followed soon afterwards by the first customer delivery.
TheG1 accommodates 12 passengers and has a maximum speed of 305 knots at 25000 feet. It is powered by twin Rolls –Royce Dart engines and has a range of 2200 miles.
Among its distinguished features are large, oval windows, which have become a Gulf stream trademark, a low-wing platform and a basic fuselage cross section that continued through four decades of Gulf stream jets.
"Today, we have more than 2100 aircraft in service and our in-production fleet-the G650,G550,G450,G280 and G150- comprises the industry's safest, most reliable and technologically advanced aircraft."
G550 Anniversary
Gulf stream Aerospace Corporations other celebration was the 10th anniversary of the large-cabin, ultra-long-range G550 receiving its type and production certificates from the Federal Aviation Administration. It was the first time in Gulf stream history that an aircraft received both certifications on the same day.
"The G550, like its predecessor the GV, has been a history-making aircraft," said Scott Neal.
"It was the first aircraft in Civil Aviation to offer integrated modular avionics through its Plane View flight deck to improve pilot situational awareness. It also was the first to debut synthetic vision, an industry-leading safety enhancement."
The G550 was also the first to offer Gulf streams trade-marked Plane-Connect, a highly advanced system that automatically transmits reports on the aircraft's condition to maintenance experts on the ground, enabling the speedy resolution of any maintenance issues that may arise.
Gulf stream introduced the G550 on October 9, 2000.
The GV, predecessor to the G550, rolled out in September 1995.
The aircraft, capable of flying 6500 nautical miles nonstop and at speeds up to Mach 0,885, established the ultra-long-range market segment.
Its descendant, the G550, is equally impressive, capable of flying 6750 nautical miles at a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0, 80.Together, the aircraft have set more than 60 world records.
With more than 600 GV/G550 aircraft in service, Gulf stream has delivered more ultra-long range business jets than any other manufacturer .One of the reasons for its popularity is that it remains an extremely reliable aircraft, currently operating at an NBAA dispatch reliability rate of 99,9 percent.
Over the past 15 years, the GV family, certified in 55 countries, has completed more than 800000 takeoffs and landings and has flown nearly two-million hours.
The GV fleet leader has flown more than 17400 flight hours and completed more than 7900 landings.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Maybe you do not have the same fascination for facts and figures as I do, but I have always been interested to see some of the information which can be found in the research undertaken by companies, especially those involved in aviation and which unveils the way things are going.
Take for instance, the latest edition of Air BP Lubricants "Turbine –Engined Fleets of the World's Airlines," commonly referred to as the "TEF Guide", a 136-page text-only volume packed with facts and figures showing that, although there had been a 12, 7% increase in the number of turbo prop airliners which have been retired from service between 2011 and 2012, there had been a 4, 6% increase in the number of new aircraft on order.
At the end of June this year there were 4918 turbo prop airliners in service worldwide reflecting a 1,1% increase compared with 2012s figure of 4864.
The most common aircraft in the turbo prop category in airline service at the end of 2012 was the Cessna Caravan 208B with a total of 412, a slight increase in the 2011 figure of 408. Next in line is the Bombardier Dash-8-Q400 with 376 in service at the end of 2012 and 46 on order. All Dash-8 models ranging from the early-100 to the Q400, total 798 in service.
The ATR 72-600 is classified as the turbo prop airliner with the highest number of orders in both 2011 and 2012, namely 113 and 124 in the respective years. At the end of 2012, there were ATR models ranging from the early ATR 42-300 to the latest ATR 72-600 in service around the world, of which the ATR 72-500 at 308 had the highest individual number in service.
Smaller twin turbo prop are also well represented around the world with, for example, 371 Beech 99s through to the Beech 1900D model accounting for a total of 371.Beech King Airs ranging in size from the King Air C90 through all models to the King Air 350i are also popular among the smaller commuter airlines totaling 158 of all models.
At 119 the Let-410 UVP is the most popular model from this manufacturer with the total of all margues making up 131 in airline service around the world.
Jet Airliners
IATAs claims about the growth of the airline industry are borne out by figures in the TEF Guide. From 2011 to 2012 there was a 4, 08% increase in the number of jet-powered aircraft on order.
However, there has been a slight (1,06%) decrease in the number of jet airlines actually in service between 2012 and the first six months of this year-21135 down to 20912 –but this drop will soon be recovered and surpassed as new aircraft on order enter service.
"There has been significant growth in the popularity of fuel-efficient aircraft, particularly the Airbus A320neo which received the highest number of orders in 2012 with a total of 1, 153," the guide said.
The TEF Guide also points to the A320-200 being the most common airliner in operation last year, namely 2905, followed by the Boeing 737-800 with 2 730 in service.
A point of interest is that, during the same period, the number of jet airliners retired decreased by 11,33% (from 503 to 446) when compared with the previous year, probably caused by start-up carriers taking up the slack by employing older aircraft.
But it is not only start-up carriers which are using older aircraft. All airlines in the world using turbine-powered aircraft are listed alphabetically in the TEF Guide, and reading through the listing of African carriers, it is amazing just how many are still using first and second generation airliners, albeit the majority as freighters.
Nevertheless, it is not uncommon to come across aircraft in Africa such as various marques of the Boeing 707, B727 and early B737s; McDonnell Douglas DC-8, DC-10 and early DC-9s still in service as passenger carriers.
Small wonder that the EU has imposed embargoes on so many African airlines (named in the infamous "Black List" forbidding their entry into EU air space.
Although it may seem that the iconic Boeing 747 is being rapidly replaced by more fuel-efficient aircraft such as the B777 series, there are still 722 B747s of all models flying worldwide, the most profilic model being the basic 747-400 "Electric Jumbo" which accounts for 309 of the total.
At the time of publication, the TEF Guide lists only 33 of the latest model the 747-8 as being in service, 29 of which are freighters on order and 27 of the 81 passenger version on order. No other 747 models had orders outstanding when the guide was published.
Holding the record for the type with the most models still in service ,is the Boeing 737 with 5455 of all marques.Top of the marques list was the -800 with 2730 in service followed by -700 with 1037.
On order at the end of 2012 were 743 B737 Max-8; 135 Max-9; 240 B737-700; 842 B737-800 and 340 B737-900 ERs.
Most corporate sized jets, commonly referred to as "Bizjets" are operated by many airlines, although most are in single-digit numbers-ones, twos or threes ,the exception being the Gulfstream G550 of which there are twelve listed as being in airline service.
There are also a surprising large number of turbine-powered helicopters listed as being airline service. Euro copter is tops with 135 of virtually all its models represented from the AS-332L Super Puma down to the SA-318C Alouette 11 with the most common being the AS-350B3 with 27 helicopters in service.
Bell comes in second with a total of 117 helicopters operating with airlines, the Bell 212 with 30 models in service being the most popular.
Ranked third in airline service is Sikorsky with 42 helicopters, of which the S76C++ is the most popular.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
The list was first published in March 2006 and is administered by case handlers within the aviation safety unit of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG-MOVE).If an airline or an authority is blacklisted, these are the people that you need to speak with .This is important, as an open and constructive dialogue with the Commission seems to be one of the key factors in getting off the blacklist.
"Mauritania was on the list but it has now been removed because the authorities took proper action to address the issues," explained the Commission official."They were very proactive .They accepted they had a problem, engaged in a dialogue with us, addressed the specific issues and provided all the information we needed. We went out there and did a check .They had improved, so their work paid off and they came off the list."
Case handlers are alerted when there is an accident or incident, if an issue from a safety assessment of foreign aircraft (SAFA) ramp inspection is escalated, or if an ICAO or FAA audit reveals serious shortcomings.
This rings an alarm bell and opens a dialogue but does not necessarily lead to ab an."We are not trying to fill up the list: we are actually trying to empty it by addressing the underlying safety issues," explained the official."A ban is used only as a last resort, when nothing else is working and we have no other option. We don't measure against European rules. We expect to see ICAO standards applied, as laid down by the Chicago Convention, and nothing more than that."
Various organizations have criticized the Commission, saying that the safety list lacks transparency and that the criteria for being added to, and removed from, the list are unclear. However, the Commission official said the standards were laid down in the legislation."ICAO looks primarily at whether there are processes in place to comply with its standards .What we do in addition is we look at whether it works. We take a very practical approach and get right down into the weeds of the oversight to be sure that the system delivers safety in a sustainable manner."
The safety list is generally updated twice a year, around June and November; when the Commissions air safety committee meets to review any changes. This is when airlines and states have the opportunity to be removed from the list. To achieve this, an airline and its authority need to demonstrate that the safety issue has been recognized and resolved."What we have found are that sometimes authorities go through a period of denial, where they think everything is perfectly fine, even though there is clear evidence that it is not. We have had several cases where a year was lost because of this," said the official.
Once an issue has been identified, there will be an in-depth dialogue and the Commission will request further information."We try to work with them and help where we can, but we can't provide a huge amount of resources. However, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) can go out there and advice them of the steps they need to take."
EASA coordinates SAFA checks and assists the Commission, but it is not responsible for the oversight of the safety list. This is the Commissions responsibility, although it often taps EASA for technical expertise when it visits airlines and states to check their safety systems.
This is often the next step, but setting up an onsite visit requires at least two months notice.
Once the inspection is complete, the airline and authority are invited to Brussels to present their case, firstly to the aviation safety unit and then to the operational and airworthiness experts on the European Commission's air safety committee.
The pre-meeting with the aviation safety unit is effectively a dummy run, ahead of the main committee, although this may be bypassed if the ground has already been covered during the site visit. This is used to assess whether there are still any outstanding issues to be tackled and the case is not referred to the committee until the aviation safety unit is satisfied.
"We never have the air carrier here [presenting to the air safety committee] without the competent authority. The competent authority is responsible for issuing the air operators certificate (AOC) ,so it has a clear responsibility for the safety of the airline. We really must have competent authority on board. We are always looking for two green lights, one from the authority and one from the airline," explained the official.
The length of the meeting varies from two to five hours, depending on the extent of the issues, the level of preparation and the openness of the discussion."The biggest issue is death by PowerPoint. You are talking to experts, get straight to the issue," advised the official."The committee is interested in whether your recognize the safety issues that exist and what you are doing to address them."
During the air safety committee hearings, experts from the European Union member states question the airline and its authority on the changes made. The committee sits for three days. The first day two days are filled with hearings and on the final half-day the committee comes up with a proposal about whether to remove the airline/ state from the list.
The Commission has faced criticism from associations such as IATA and AFRAA for its 'name and shame' strategy but the official defends this approach saying: "If you are not upfront, nobody will accept that you have an issue and there is no impetus for changes to be made."
She also denied that there was any economic agenda behind the policy."There concerns that the safety list is being used as an economic tool. That is certainly not true. If you look at the criteria in the legislation, there is no economic agenda at all. We are only interested in making a decision based on safety and on solving those problems."
The purpose of the list is to protect travelers flying into and out of the European Union. The European Commission has no powers to ban airlines that operate outside its own borders, but the list does include airlines that fall short of its criteria, acting as advice for Europeans traveling overseas.
Airline associations have also questioned why European carriers are allowed to operate to states that are subject to a blanket ban due to poor oversight."That is a very good question with a very straight –forward answer," said the official."European airlines that operate into those countries are well aware of the weaknesses of the state, so they mitigate against that risk. For example, if the weakness is poor air traffic control, they ensure that the traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) is working and crews are specifically trained and briefed to talk directly with other aircraft.

Reindeer rugs are generally considered as alternatives to cowhide rugs. This means most people settle for reindeer rugs only when cowhide rugs are either not available or too expensive for them. Some settle for reindeer rugs simply because they need an extra design to complement their favourite animal skin rug. Toughness and resistance to stain are some of the reasons cowhide rugs stay on top of the charts. If you settled for a reindeer rug as a last resort, don't feel you are not enjoying the full benefits that come with any other rug you could have preferred. As a matter of fact, be proud of your reindeer rug because they have quite a number of advantages, frequently overlooked, over alternative animal skin rugs.
The fur of reindeer rugs are composed of long hollow hair which makes the rugs softer and smoother than cowhide rugs. This makes them a perfect choice for use on surfaces intended for maximum comfort. In addition to adding more beauty to floors walls and doors, they work best on furniture especially sofas, couches, chairs and beds. Most people spread them over the back of sofas and on a cross section of their bed. Some people prefer to have them spread near the bed in the bedroom and can occasionally lie on them when they feel the urge to rest on something other than the bed or couch. Their softness also makes them a good yoga companion when used as yoga mats.
Another great advantage that reindeer rugs have over cowhide rugs is that most of them are silicon treated thereby rendering them weatherproof. They can be used both indoors and outdoors, giving the rug owner freedom to use them on the lawn, in the garden, near the swimming pool, etc. They can withstand reasonable outdoor sunlight and moisture. This means you can virtually take your reindeer rug anywhere you want.
Reindeer rugs are easier to maintain than cowhide rugs. Dust and debris contaminants can easily be taken care of by simply shaking and dusting them outside the home. Their waterproof nature makes them more resistant to spills, which is probably the main contaminant of rugs especially when in the presence of kids. Being waterproof, however, doesn't give room for carelessness. It is good to often attended to them when they come in contact with spills.
Reindeer rugs provide unbeatable thermal insulating properties compared to other types of animal skin rugs. The long-hollow-hair nature of their fur traps heat and prevent the heat from being lost through the floor. It is for this reason that bed sides constitute the most popular location where they are place.
One additional advantage of going for reindeer rugs is that you don't have to break your bank to get one. Despite all the wonderful advantages that have been outlined above, they are relatively cheaper, at times even up to 50% cheaper, than alternative animal skin rugs.
Generally speaking, the pros of using a reindeer rug outweigh the cons. The major issues most people usually raise when making comparisons is the fact that reindeer rugs can't withstand extreme heat and pressure. They feel the need of having a rug on a passageway or close to the furnace. If that be the case, having an alternative such as a cowhide rug for those purposes will make a perfect array of varieties. Another issue with reindeer rugs is that though weatherproof, people still regard them to be less durable than cowhide rugs. However, it is worth nothing that if they are properly taken care of, they will last much longer.

Attractive and beautiful sheepskin rugs are a warm and cozy part of your comfortable home décor during freezing winters. Sheepskin rugs have been in use for ages and have become a part of our rich heritage. These floor coverings are still fashionable owing to their softness, attractive patterns and warmth. Sheepskin rugs are hardwearing and can last very long if special care is taken. The best sheepskin to use to produce rugs is that of mature sheep that has been properly preserved with their wool. Sheep are specially reared and looked to use their skin for different purposes.
Different breeds of sheep have different types of wool on their skin. Sheepskin is found in many natural colours ie black, brown, light cream and white. Every sheepskin has different type of wool on it. Some have long and curly wool while others have short and tightly clumped wool on their skin. It's a hard job for a manufacturer to select a good sheep skin to produce good quality hard-wearing, neatly finished, soft and warm rugs. A young sheep has small but very soft fur on its body. For making rugs, mature sheep skin is considered the best.
Sheep must be properly taken care of to produce desired quality wool. The skin, holding the mature wool is used to make high quality rugs. The skin is then trimmed for the type of rug to be woven to give a better finish. Some chemicals are then used to preserve the hide for long and it is laid on a flat surface to produce even texture. These chemically cleaned sheep skins then become harmless to use in the home environment. The sheep skins are then dried well to make them suitable for use and to be more attractive. In some cases, an inner layer is added to the rugs to make them warmer and more durable. Such a finished rug lasts for years and becomes a lifetime investment for home décor. A good lining could also be added under a rug prevents slipping too.
Some people rear sheep for making their own quality sheepskin rugs and other related sheepskin products. Skins are tanned before turning them into usable products. The rare breed sheep like the Jacob or the Shetland offer the finest fleeces. Mountain and hill breeds have quite heavy fleece thereby producing great quality of sheepskin rugs. They contain brittle whitish hair, but having low quality skins. Because of the diverse quality offered by the wide variety of sheep, most sheepskin rugs producing companies thoroughly check the fleece and skins before being transported to abattoir to make sure that it is the finest quality and that they are in good condition.
Rugs that have been dyed and coloured using artificial colouring should always be dry cleaned by an expert. These should also not be washed using water and brush as is done with a number of other rugs. Natural colour sheep skin rug could be washed at home, but this should be done by the use of some mild detergent in water with a temperature of 100°F or less. It should be air dried lying on a flat surface or hanged on a line. Any artificial heat and direct exposure to the sunlight should be avoided by all means. The removal of curls on the wool to make it look straight and fluffy, it is advisable to brush the wool with a wire brush or comb them regularly to regain its bouncy appearance.
There are a large variety of sheepskin rugs available in the market in mottled designs and different shades from light to dark. They are available in cream, brown, grey and beige. Each rug has its own uniqueness to enhance the beauty of the home.

Cow hide rugs are widely used across the globe for home decoration and for many other diverse uses. The great thing about them is that they are durable, affordable and are all time source of attraction because of their beauty and uniqueness. The process of tanning gives the cow hide flexibility which plays an important role in their uses. Moreover, tanning also enhances durability and protects them from decay. Pricing of cow hide rugs are based on the skinned animal, the processing and the style used in making the final product.
Cowhide rugs are best for all types of home decorations, from modern to traditional or an elegant one. They have a great quality and perform better than other rugs in high traffic areas like living room, TV room and kids' room. This durability is elongated by proper cleaning and care. While carrying out the cleaning, they should be brushed carefully and rehydrated to keep them straight without forming curly edges. A cowhide rug should be rotated time to time to distribute traffic evenly. During spring season it should be laid in the sun for fresh ambience. Though cowhide is extraordinarily durable, too much use of water causes its decay. So, always be careful not to expose it to water. Always brush on it following the direction of hair and use soapy cloth or mop to clean spots. Brushing regularly helps its natural oils redistribution and fluffing up the hair. Sometimes improper tanning process causes the loss of natural oils in cowhide rugs thereby forming curly their edges. A little moist can also be used to help remove curls on the edges.
Cowhide rugs look great because of their elegant designs and styles. Natural patterns on cow hides make these rugs unique pieces which are very much desired all over the world. Cowhide rugs can be found from high quality naturals to many different types of breeds, in awesome animal prints to mineral dyed European coloured rugs. Patchwork rugs are also available in the market to cater for different aesthetic senses. Some cowhide rugs are patched in diverse styles to add elegance to the rugs. The designs are usually geometrical and hand crafted in a unique manner. Patches of different colours and shades are assembled together using the best quality resistant ribbon. The joints of the patches are then stitched together to give a neat look and to strongly join them together.
Sometimes cowhides are used purely without any dyeing process while some are dyed in different colours and styles to make them more elegant and for purposes of blending them with the room color. Most natural and pure cowhide rugs are always used without dying. Moreover, there are cowhide rugs whose reverse side is patched with soft suede material to make it level with the floor perfectly. Such a material fulfills the need of an underneath rug pad too.
Cow hide rugs are best used indoor. Folding a cow hide rug curls it. It is therefore advised that the user relax it on a flag ground after unfolding so that the creases can disappear. This might take a few days if the surface is not regularly used. Even though using steam iron on the reverse side is also an effective way to remove creases, leaving the rug laying flat on the floor is always recommended.
Common spills of wine, coffee, tea, foods, juices, vomit or urine just sponge it immediately or soak up with a paper towel whereas a solid item should be scraped gently with a blunt knife. Again, always work in the direction of the hair to avoid any damage to the rug. You can then use 5% white vinegar and 95% water solution to eliminate unpleasant odour.
If well maintained, it will last long and serve a great deal in adding beauty and style to your home or office.

Natural springbok rugs are made from the skin of springboks. They are slender long-necked antelopes commonly found in South Africa. There are a vast variety of rugs but springbok hides are very unique for various reasons. The very first reason is that they are relatively scarcer, though not endangered, than other animals like cows, sheep, zebra, deer and bears used for the production of rugs.
Springboks are supposedly found only in the dryland areas of south and south-western Africa, from the north-western part of South Africa through the Kalahari Desert into the neighbouring countries Namibia and Botswana. In addition to scarcity, springboks have different variety of colours. The normal springbok is reddish brown in colour with a pale underside. There also exists the black springboks which have two shades of chocolate-brown and a white marking on the face. The white springboks are white with a very light brown coloured side. These varieties of colours constitute a plus as they result in variety of naturally coloured genuine hides.
Although the springbok hide is relatively smaller than other types of rugs as a result of the small size of the animal itself, this doesn't put a limitation on their striking features and the exotic glamour they can add to a home. These rugs come in two main types. There are the natural ones that are actually from the animal itself with the original colours, and faux rugs that are made by designing the pattern of a springbok using man made msaterials. Such designs are usually made as natural as possible, not with the intention of deceiving people that they are genuine, but to make them look more appealing. Some of the designs are done via printing while others are manually hand-crafted.
Natural springbok rugs vary in sizes, shapes and colours and can often be a single hide or multiple skins sewn into one. Some consist of pieces left-over from previous cuttings with their unique markings that when stitched together into panels make gorgeous patchwork rugs. The variations in sizes and shapes are strictly as a result of the purpose for which the finished springbok rug is intended to be used. Some people like maintaining the original animal shape while others go for square/rectangular, round/ Carousel or floral shapes.
Bigger springbok rugs are usually placed on the floor or hung on doors, walls and ceilings while the smaller ones can be placed on couches and tables. Round, carousel or floral shaped springbok rugs are best suited for central positions like the centre of a large table or a living room, or the centre of a circular array or couches. Most often, these are made from several springbok centre skins sewn together to form an even circle.
The colour of high quality springbok hides are usually maintained or slightly enhanced by polishing only. The colour of the resulting rug will therefore reflect the colour of the original springbok skin. Lower quality springbok rugs usually contain imperfections in the skin or colour which are usually compensated with extra artificial treatment and dyeing using various colours like turquoise, burgundy, chocolate, orange, brown, black, pink, olive and red.
Unlike most people believe, springbok rugs are not only good as complete units lying round or hanging somewhere. They also have extremely great value when trimmed into little pieces of more or less regular designs and integrated with various types of furniture. They produce great artistic views when sewn into couches and chairs, used as pillows, sewn as patterns on bed sheets or blankets, etc. However you choose to use them, just make sure they fit and blend in with other decorative figures in the home setup.
