It is common knowledge that the big household appliances are the most expensive to purchase in brand new condition and they are the ones that last longer with little to no maintenance required. For instance, a refrigerator has the capacity to last for about two decades with very little maintenance (changing bulbs, adding shelves) required.

Even so, people often discard their used refrigerators quite regularly. These used refrigerators are far from damaged and still have a long life to live, so to speak. With that in mind, it is cost-efficient and wise to purchase used refrigerators especially if they will only be used in the home and not in restaurants or diners. Where to find used refrigerators? Here are a few answers:

    • Community boards or online selling stores

Craigslist, eBay, Penny Saver are such treasure troves for other people's used items sold at reasonable prices. There are so many people who are selling used refrigerators online.

These online communities have buyer and seller protection but there is still some amount of caution that should be taken. Reading the description properly and looking for the condition specificity is important. The things to look out for are the brands (go for trusted ones of course), availability of parts and length of use (which affects the depreciation value). Asking for additional photos or arranging to look for the used refrigerators first before buying is considered okay.

    • The trusty retail store

Retail stores do not really sell used refrigerators per se. But their floor models sometimes get scratches and dents to the extent that no one really buys the floor models. Rather than keeping those, retail stores sell them at a much lower price than squeaky clean new ones. This is one secret that bargain hunters know well and have been taking advantage of, not just with used refrigerators but with other appliances as well.

    • A neighbor or friend

Buying used refrigerators from a neighbour or a friend may be an excellent idea because there is a better sense of trust involved (read: less fear of being ripped off or tricked) and it is easy to know how much the used refrigerators have actually been "used". There are always friends or neighbours who are moving out, remodelling the kitchen or just want a new fridge and would be happy to dispose of the old used refrigerators.

Buying used refrigerators has one clear benefit: saving on cost. But it also saves in the effort of looking for new ones and having to compare (and be overwhelmed by) price tags. There are a few possible pitfalls of buying used refrigerators though such as future repairs or replacement of parts.

As such, it is important to have used refrigerators carefully scrutinized and tested before purchase is made (others even bring a technician for this). Negotiating and bargaining for a price is also necessary to get maximum savings and value for money. Finally, having realistic expectations of used refrigerators is essential to be fully happy with the purchased product.

When embarking on a lifetime journey of health and fitness or just looking for different ways to exercise, home exercise equipment is a good place to start and it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg to get started. Used treadmills can be just as good as new ones and even better, considering they are also much less expensive than buying a brand new machine. There are also so many different places where you can find used treadmills these days, including local stores, online merchants, and even thrift stores.

A quality, brand name treadmill may cost you a grand or more, but if you are insistent on buying something new, you would be wise to research all of the brands and models that are available. What size do you want? What type of features are you looking for? Do you need one that will incline? What do the reviews say? On the other hand, if you are looking for a used model, you will need to ask yourself the same questions, because you will find the same types and models at the used prices as you will at the more expensive prices.

The size of your treadmill will depend on the size of the room in which you plan to keep it. The smaller the room, the more compact you will need your treadmill to be. Would you like a treadmill with several types of programs? There are many of those available -- programs that let you lock in a good warm up, a complete interval workout right down to miles per hour and seconds or minutes you wish to spend at each speed, and programs that will let you work out on an incline -- even programs that will lock in all three of these features for your workout. Still, features and size are not everything there is to buying a good machine. The best way to know which model is best for you is to find out what others have to say about their experience.

Once you have your choices narrowed down, it is time to start your search. You might find a brand new one at a decent discount, or be surprised at the used treadmills that are available at an even lower price.

You will be amazed at what you can find for sale online. Just try looking for the model you want on auction sites, or on online classified sites selling new and used treadmills in your area.

When you find what you are looking for at a good price, remember that it is always wise to try it out before you make the purchase. Your dream machine should be a good fit for your body and feel comfortable whether you are walking or running, and you want to be sure that all of the great features that are advertised are in working order. Whether you choose from new or used treadmills, your machine is an investment that should last you for years into the future.

The task of buying a new refrigerator should be treated like a mission. Before heading out the door it is wise to do some research and know where the nearest and least expensive appliance retailers are located. Having a good idea of what style, size, color, and what features the new fridge must have are important as well. Researching sales papers as well as online advertisements are advisable in locating a retailer that will offer the best price on all of the features desired in a refrigerator.

Many appliance stores regularly broadcast their sales on refrigerators so it won't be hard to locate the right store. Knowing exactly what the new refrigerator must be equipped with will help level the playing field. This is especially true if searching for a huge bargain. If features such as an ice maker and double doors with a stainless steel finish are must haves, figure out which retailer offers the best price on these features before heading out to shop. This saves a lot of time, money, as well as fuel that is needed to drive around.

If unsure on desirable features and having an open mind, just locate a local appliance retailer and spend some time browsing the latest models. If exposed to a large warehouse it can be a bit perplexing to decide which model to buy with so many available options. This is why having a list of preferences can help narrow down the search for the right refrigerator. Though many people shop for refrigerators out of desire to replace an older model, many people must find one before their food spoils.

People that need a refrigerator and need it fast generally have trouble with their one at home. Due to the fact that an emergency replacement is not always planned into the budget, finding a bargain may be a must. Locating a retailer that offers deep discounts on discontinued models, scratch and dent models, or even slightly used refrigerators just might be perfect for emergency shoppers. These emergency shoppers should locate all of the discount retailers as well as the used appliance dealers in their area before heading out.

People who are working with a very tight budget might fare better if they check local papers for garage sales. Making a few phone calls to local thrift stores might also be another resource to find a used refrigerator. Checking classified ads is another great way to locate a used appliance such as a refrigerator. Many people outgrow their slightly used appliances or simply see one they want more and replace them without hesitating. They often donate their used refrigerators, but many chose to sell them cto recoup some of the money shelled out on their new fridge.

Though doing some research and scouting for the best bargains when on a tight budget may seem tedious, the very act of shopping aimlessly is even more so. Being able to head right to a dealer and know they have the new or used refrigerator that is affordable and offers all of the desired features makes a lot of sense. Before wasting time and money that could be better spent doing something else, take the time and locate a dealer from the comfort of home.

It's actually possible to buy cheap treadmills, even though many people think otherwise. Since people's consciousness about maintaining a healthy lifestyle is on the rise, the demand for cost effective treadmills has increased, leading many manufacturers to bring out affordable treadmill models. This is especially true around New Year's when many people vow to get healthier in the coming year. If you are in need of a cheap treadmill, here are a couple of tips on how to find quality treadmills for sale that fall within your budget limits:

Pace: The most important point to consider when buying a treadmill is pace or speed. The normal speed offered is 10 miles per hour, which is suitable for runners. This speed can be lowered if you want to have just a leisurely walk. Those who are athletes would need a treadmill that offer speed levels greater than 10 miles per hour for their intense workout requirements. As the speed of the machine increases, its weight also enhances. This is something to keep in mind if you think that you might have to move the treadmill from one place to another. A heavy machine will be much more difficult to move.

Features: The latest treadmill models come with a host of features such as heart rate monitors, LED screens and even iPod holders. However, as the number of features increases so does the price. Furthermore, not all users require every feature. The best option is to look for a treadmill with those features that are absolutely essential, thus bringing down the cost and getting a machine that best serves their everyday needs for a treadmill.

Reviews from Users: When you find a cheap treadmill model that is attractive enough for a purchase don't jump into to buying it without reading its user reviews. Read up user information about the make and durability of the model. This way, you will get one that is affordable and which does not show up repair costs within six months to a year of purchase.

Used One or New One: Many people consider buying a used treadmill because the prices can be really low. Though buying a used treadmill will certainly save on the expenses, in the long run it can prove to be expensive. The first point to note here is usage. You don't know how the equipment was used by the owner. It can show heavy repairs in a week's time of use. Furthermore, such machines don't have a warranty. This means any repair costs have to be borne by you entirely.

These are not the only points to consider when searching for a cheap treadmill. Ideally buyers have to set a budget and stick with it. Though it sounds hard, it is possible to find cheap treadmills for sale that offer the best features and which last for a long time through careful searching. By looking into different buying sources, you can get a low-cost and enduring treadmill that best serves your treadmill usage needs.

If you plan on visiting Las Vegas over the holidays, consider setting aside a day to visit the Grand Canyon by bus. These trips are a great value and a terrific way to see one of the US' most famous natural wonders.

I know it can be tough pulling yourself away from Las Vegas. However, and speaking from experience, you will want a break. And I've always found that the canyon is a sure bet for getting recharged during an extended Vegas vacation.

So how do bus tours work?

The first thing to note is that they leave once a day around 7 am There are no other departure times because it takes time to reach the canyon. If you can't make it one particular day, no worries because buses run every day of the year.

As for drive time. It takes 2.5 hours to reach the West Rim and 5.5 hours to reach the South Rim. Double those times and you can see that there's considerable time spent on the road. This is important to note because you'll be getting back to your hotel sometime during the early evening.

Will you be ready to go out and hit The Strip afterward? You could, but I find that these trips are very satisfying and after a day of sightseeing you pretty much want to relax and enjoy the moment. However, if you do make plans, be safe and make them after 9 pm

    West Rim

There are plenty of things to do ad see at the West Rim. Of course, there's your basic bus tour that gets you into the Park and drops you off. Then there are others that come with side trips like a helicopter ride to the bottom of the canyon and a boat ride.

Or you can do the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Also known as the Glass Bridge, the Skywalk lets guests walk up to 70 feet over the edge. By the time you get out to the outermost point, you're standing 4,000 feet over the edge. It's an incredible sensation and one I recommend trying.

Quick word about the helicopter ride: This is actually something that can only be done at the West Rim and no other place inside the National Park. The reason is because the Hualapai Indian Tribe owns the West Rim and has granted several Las Vegas tour operators permission to land at the base.

    South Rim

Considering how long the drive is to the South Rim, you'd think it would be playing second fiddle to the West Rim. In fact, it's equally popular. I believe this is because it represents the official Grand Canyon and is home to many of the Park's most famous photos. More to the point: If you are looking for incredible scenic beauty, this is the rim for you.

    Wrap Up

To summarize, Las Vegas is tailor-made for Grand Canyon bus tours. Pick from trips that go to the West Rim or the South Rim. If you go to the West, consider adding some side trips into your package. If South, make sure you camera is fully charged because it's going to be a picture-taking frenzy. And remember to book your bus tours online. It's where you'll find the best selection and deals.
