Pharmacist's duties include filling prescriptions and inspecting orders. All related information on medications for patients must be accurate as a pharmacist instructs patients on how and when to take a prescribed medication. Pharmacists relate contraindications and list side effects that might be experienced when taking a medication. General health advice on exercise and diet plus managing stress is also part of a good pharmacist's job description.

Many pharmacies, drugstores, department stores, general merchandise, clinics and hospitals employ those with a Doctor of Pharmacy of Pharm D degree. Being a pharmacist is highly lucrative and the median annual salary is around $112,000. There are always openings for pharmacists who have graduated from an accredited program. The projection of employment opportunities is high.

To become a board certified pharmacist, budding pharmacists must have a bachelor's degree plus a four year Pharm D program degree. At the end of pharmacy schooling you will actually have a doctorate degree. Begin by entering into a field that includes chemistry, biology or anatomy. The most popular bachelor's degree programs when anticipating a pharmacy degree includes biology or chemistry. Study hard and your good grades will give you the keys to enter into an accredited school. You will also need to pass the Pharmacy College Admissions Test or PCAT.

The first two years of pharmacy school will include biostatistics, bio pharmaceutics and physical chemistry. You will also be required to pass immunopharmacology and applied drug information as well as pharmaceutical calculations. The next two years of pharmacy school will include intensive curriculums with clinical experience and supervised pharmacy rotations. Years three and four will involve general pathology, chemotherapy and introductory pharmacy practice experiences.

Acertificated and program specific pharmacy school requires that you pass program essential competencies that include demonstrating critical thinking and decision making, communication abilities, ethical behaviors and effective leadership. To be a competent pharmacist it is very important to learn, understand and demonstrate cultural differences and competencies, have a professional demeanor, and ultimately know how to evaluate drug orders and prescriptions. Clerical duties of pharmacists include managing systems for storage, dispensing and preparation of medications.

A viable pharmacy license is required to practice pharmacy is all fifty United States. This license can be acquired after all the schooling, clinical practice and passing the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination or NAPLEX. Do study the laws of the state you prefer to practice in; knowledge of these laws will be included on your licensure test.

When you have received your Pharm D degree and license, the public will be confident that you can apply your knowledge in medication therapies, educate the public and healthcare professions about the different types of medications and their interactions with each other and have the ability to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles.

A competent and trusted pharmacist is able to evaluate relevant data and work with physicians to design treatment regimens. Knowledge is also needed to evaluate the different types of mediations on the market and formulate cost effective therapeutic options for patients. It is also helpful if a pharmacist has experience or a business background to operate a pharmacy site.

After the season ends, loyal NFL fans look forward to April each year to see what gifts the NFL draft will provide them. Of course, the NFL will extend that wait until May starting next season. No matter what position your team is drafting in, you always hope that they will find gems to plug those gaping holes or find the heir to replace current studs at key positions. For us, we look across the league to see what players have been drafted onto teams in a spot that they will have an impact on the fantasy football landscape.

So, Maximum Fantasy Sports has put its collective heads together and has ranked the Top-5 fantasy football relevant rookies at the core skill positions and their projected draft round in standard 12-team fantasy football leagues. There was a time that we would avoid all rookie QBs that came into the league. However, the game has changed at the collegiate and professional level in ways that allow talented QBs to step under center and be productive immediately. It is amazing to look at the 2012 season QB stats and see multiple rookies near the top. Drafting RGIII last year got many teams to the fantasy playoffs. Adding Colin Kaepernick late in the season took many teams to fantasy gold. Who from this year's draft will be the key players on your run to your championship? Below is the consensus review from Maximum Fantasy Sports for the new crop of NFL rookies.

    Quarterbacks

    1. Geno Smith (New York Jets): Draft prognosticators had Geno listed as the first QB off the board and many thought he would be drafted in the first round. Unfortunately for his ego, wallet and job satisfaction, he was drafted by the Jets in the second round. Shockingly, Jets fans weren't thrilled by the pick. I am confused since the butt-fumbler is currently their starting QB. I would not be surprised to see Geno win the job in training camp. Too bad that he has no one to throw to. He is a 14th round pick at best.

    2. EJ Manuel (Buffalo): EJ is this year's dual-threat QB. He has the wheels and the arm, though not real accurate, to be successful. He will start on the bench with Kevin Kolb getting the starting position to start the season. Since Kolb is made of cupcakes and is not real talented, Manual should get the job before long. He is a speculative add, at best, with the last pick of your draft.

    3. Mike Glennon (Tampa): Manuel is the "new NFL" QB and Glennon is the "Old NFL". You are not going to see this kid running much. He is 6'7" and has a cannon for an arm. Josh Freeman is the guaranteed starter, but really faltered down the stretch last year. Tampa has loads of talent on offense, so, if Freeman stumbles again, Glennon could take over. I would have no problem drafting Freeman as my QB2 and backing him up with Glennon as my last pick in my deeper leagues.

    4. Tyler Wilson (Oakland): Well, it is better than New York, but not by much. Wilson joins a team that has been in search of a good QB since Rich Gannon took them to the Super Bowl in 2002. Matt Flynn gets the starting nod this year. Carson Palmer did put up good fantasy numbers last year, but I don't expect anything good from Wilson, even if he gets the job at some point. Not draftable.

    5. Matt Barkley (Philly): with Michael Vick and Nick Foles ahead of him, Barkley will probably not see the field this year. Sadly for him, had he come out in 2012, he would have been been a first round pick and may have seen some success. He has talent, so you could consider grabbing him at some point during the season if you are in a deep Keeper league.

    Running Backs

    1. Montee Ball (Denver): Ball steps into a good situation in Denver; they have a rock solid passing attack so teams can't load the box to stop the run and the Broncos have a stable of RBs coming off of major injuries. The Wisconsin grad had been putting in NFL-type seasons in college (over 300 carries each of the past two years). Some people may shy away from him due to the workload. I think it has prepared him for a grueling NFL season. I would add him as a late 3rd round or early 4th round pick.

    2. Le'Veon Bell (Pittsburgh): Bell is a great fit for the Steelers. He fits their mold at 6'2" and 230lbs. The Steelers had no success with the various backs they tossed on the field last year and would love for Bell to be their workhorse. I thought Jonathan Dwyer was that player last year when the Steelers drafted him, but know they weren't happy with him when they decided to draft another RB in Bell. He should be the next back off the board after Ball.

    3. Eddie Lacy (Green Bay): Much like Bell, Lacy is going to a Super Bowl contending team in need of a go-to running back. Lacy would be tops on this list if the Packers didn't pick up Jonathan Franklin as well. I love Franklin and have decided to add him here as a 3B. They are both draftable, with Lacy being a 5th round pick and Franklin being an 8th round pick, but they will split carries this season.

    4. Zac Stacy (St. Louis): Who will replace Steven Jackson? The Rams are facing that dilemma. They have Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead, but neither is assured of being The Man. Stacy tore it up at Vanderbilt, which is a good place to hide your talent. I would add him in the 11th round and hope St. Louis recognizes his talent and gets him the rock.

    5. Stepfan Taylor (Arizona): The Cardinals can't keep a starting RB healthy. The two guys ahead of Taylor; Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Williams, are ACL casualties in recent years, so add Taylor in the last round if you draft either of these RBs.

    Wide Receivers

    1. Tavon Austin (St. Louis): Austin is a blazer and will love the turf in St. Louis. He will take the slot left open by Danny Amendola's departure. Sam Bradford will call his number as often as he did Amendola's. There is talk that he will even drift into the backfield a few times a game. With over 100 catches at West Virginia the past two years, you know he can handle the workload. I would draft him in the 6th round.

    2. DeAndre Hopkins (Houston): FINALLY, someone that can play on the other side of the field from Andre Johnson. Schaub, Johnson and Hopkins are thrilled with this draft pick. He is a highlight reel mainstay and catches everything in sight. There is no doubt that he starts the first game and doesn't look back. I would grab him in the 7th round.

    3. Cordarrelle Patterson (Minny): Patterson's stock dropped with questions about his character, which is funny considering that he took Randy Moss' number; his idol! Should he stay focused, he is a big play waiting to happen. Greg Jennings is Minny's number 1 receiver, but he is far from the deep threat that Patterson is. He won't catch 100 balls this year, but he will have a big YPR and lots of YAC. He is a solid 9th round pick.

    4. Aaron Dobson (New England): Out with the old and in with the new. Dobson joins a new receiver corp in New England. Tom Brady likes spreading the ball around and Danny Amendola will be taking Wes Welker's spot, but Dobson should win Brady over easily. The kid had zero Drops last year! I would grab Dobson in the 12th round

    5. Keenan Allen (San Diego): Based on pure talent, Allen would be ranked much, much higher. His problems are that he is coming off a knee injury and has a group of WRs in front of him that he will need to win time from. However, Vincent Brown is also coming off an injury, Robert Meachem was an overpaid no-show last year and Malcom Floyd is an enigma. He is worth taking a flier on in the last two rounds of your draft.

    Tight Ends

    1. Tyler Eifert (Cincinnati): Eifert could almost be listed in the WR category since he has that make-up. The Bengals are sold that Jermaine Gresham is their number 1 TE but they are sure that Eifert could be that, and more. QB Andy Dalton likes throwing to his TE and adding Eifert makes him smile. Expect Eifert to be the second-leading pass-catcher for the Bengals this year. TE is deep in the NFL but I wouldn't wait too long to add Eifert. 8th round seems like the ideal spot.

    2. Travis Kelce (Kansas City): Kelce is joining a team that has 2 young TEs with NFL experience in front of him. However, Alex Smith likes his tight ends and Kelce is better than both Tony Moeaki and Anthony Fasano. Keep an eye on training camp this summer and see if Kelce makes some noise. If so, you can draft him around round 15.

    3. Zach Ertz (Philly): Chip Kelly takes over in Philly and no one knows what to expect. Brent Celek has been the TE mainstay for years in Philly, but we give Ertz a good chance to unseat him. He is big and quick and should fit nicely into Kelly's offense. That being said, we are talking about a rookie coach who may stick with his veterans out of the gate so, once again, pay attention to training camp and be ready to grab Ertz near the end of your draft if he looks like he is getting plenty of field time.

    4. Vance McDonald (San Fran): McDonald was drafted to replace Delanie Walker. Not much of a blocker, but he is a talented receiver, albeit very raw. Vernon Davis did not click with Kaepernick until late last season and there is no guarantee that it will carry over to this season. McDonald is 6' 4" and 262lbs, so he is the right size to be successful. It is unknown how many of Walker's targets he will actually see. I would not recommend drafting him, but keep him on your Watch list.

    5. Jordan Reed (Washington): Reed was actually recruited by Florida as a QB. They converted him to a TE and became their leading pass receiver last year, though they weren't blowout numbers. He is still raw and has Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen in front of him in the Redskins' pecking order. He is not draftable this season and will only see the field through injury.

    • Before deciding to attend medical billing training, you have to be aware that these types of medical programs take some time to complete, usually several months. The exact length depends on the institution that is offering the training and it can last anything from two months to two years.

    • Like all other medical programs, medical billing training courses can be attended in various ways. You can take the course online, enroll in a local college that offers medical programs or purchase training material you can study in the comfort of your home. As long as they provide you with a certificate of completion, all these options are perfectly valid.

    • A medical billing course, similarly to other medical programs, is a commitment that requires you to invest both time and money. Because of this, you will have to ensure that the institution that offers you the training is accredited. You can contact your local Business Bureau or ask for a proof of legitimacy from the institution providing the training.

    • Prior to deciding on a particular course, make sure you take the time to check the curriculum it offers. There are certain topics any efficient medical billing training course should cover, such as the definition of medical billing, a presentation of office forms and procedures, information on how to charge clients, information pertaining to codes and code usage, and the steps involved in an insurance claim.

    • A proficient medical program should introduce participants to the special type of software used in this industry, referred to as medical practice management software. By the end of the training program, students should be able to handle the software at an expert level.

    • Considering that the main reason why people choose to join this medical program is to start their own business, a medical billing course should offer participants information about the steps needed to be followed in order to set up such a business.

Participants should be made aware of the equipment and supplies necessary for this business, the type of services they should provide, as well as efficient marketing strategies that can be implemented.

Medical programs are very common nowadays and for good reasons: they are fairly easy to complete and their offer individuals the chance to start a new and rewarding career. One of these programs, the medical billing training course has taken the spotlight in recent years, mainly because it allows you to work from home and it earns you a decent income. So, if you have been thinking about making a career change, you should definitely take medical billing into consideration.

It happens all the time, an emergency situation forces you to look into getting a fast cash solution after hours, and you are going to be tied up. You'll find that most traditional options will not work, as you will find that lending offices are closed and banks do not work after a certain time frame. If you or someone you know has ever experienced this, than you know what it's like to be in a panic and have to deal with real life situations that can unfold. In order to thwart panic and make it out of any financial crisis, you will have to look no further than open 24 hour payday loans. That's right, these specialized options will get you the money you need at any given hour, but it's not free.

First and foremost, you should know that this is a great option when you are in dire need. You'll have to agree to a set of terms that can easily be read fast, and will have you paying back the loan with interest. The interest varies but often times it seems very high. Do not worry if you see a high number, that is only in place to hedge the bets of the lender and ensure that they get paid back within a reasonable amount of time. If you find that the rate is too high, just pay back the loan as fast as you can and you will miss out on some of that high cost.

The second thing that you should remember is that these loans are somewhat flexible in nature. That means that you will not have to deal with creditors or phone calls hounding you about the payment. If you fill out the forms properly, and give proof of income, often times you can get the payments debited out of your account without worry. Not only that, the cost will be marginal so that you can get back on your feet. That's right, no hard sell, no collections agency, just an easy way to pay your loan down in no time.

Perhaps the best thing to remember about open 24 hour payday loans is that they are available to anyone that is of age. If you have a full time or even a part time job and you find yourself in need of money today, you'll be able to get a loan. Approval is a lot more lenient than that of banks or credit card companies which is why millions turn to these lending options when they are in need. There's no reason why you should let life throw you around for a ride, you can fight back and get yourself out of nearly any financial mess, if you simply look into this lending type.

From time to time calamity strikes, or misfortune finds just about everyone, and in those moments it can be beneficial to look into getting a loan that can help out. No matter what the reason is, make sure that you do not forget about this option as it can save you from a lot of headaches, fast.

I had to laugh at my 18 year old son the other day when he couldn't connect with a friend because his cell phone was down and he wasn't on Facebook. This friend might as well not exist, in my son's world. I suggested he look up the family phone number in the phonebook which my son thought was absolute "genius," (a rare complement as many of you with kids this age know). I went to grab the phonebook for him, because I knew he had no idea where this book lives, but alas he had already found it online.

Think about the last time you purchased a product or service. Just like my son with seeking a phone number, you naturally follow a buying pattern probably without realizing you are doing so. And, if you are like over 90% of the population, a lot of that buying pattern is done online.

Understand your prospects buying pattern and give them what they need at every stage and you will ALWAYS attract and convert more sales.

It starts with a Timing Trigger – something happens that makes buying this product or service a priority on your to-do list. Maybe your car broke down, the doctor told you need to lose weight, you have a big event that requires a new outfit, or someone or something interrupted you and made this product or service a necessity right now (eg impulse buy at the cash register or price sensitive deadline).

How can you interrupt and cause a timing trigger?

Did you know timing triggers make excellent headlines?

Next – (for bigger purchases) we enter Research Mode – look up info on the computer, ask friends, buy a how-to book and through our research mode we determine that we need a certain provider of goods.

Do you create educational material and share this online?

The question is do we already KNOW of a company that can help us? If that company has been out there networking, advertising, promoting their business, getting some media attention, then maybe we do. This is why PR advertising and promotional activities are very important. But what happens if we don't KNOW? Then we will do one of two things – ask (Referrals) or "Google."

When you Google your product or service, do you come up on the first page?

Once we know a company exists, we want to check them out to see if they really can provide us with what we are looking for. While this could mean a trip to the store, a lot of times for small businesses it most likely means a trip to their website. Do we LIKE what we see, what they say, what they do?

And do we TRUST that they will deliver?

Here's a check list of some key elements that should be on your site:

    a) A killer headline on the front page that tells a prospect they are on a relevant site

    b) A professional image that says you are a solid, reputable company

    c) Reasons to choose you over your competition

    d) Results, testimonials, information about your product, your process

    e) Benefits of your products or services

    f) Your story

    g) Ways to reduce the risk from buying from you (guarantees, trial product, etc)

    h) Ways to get engaged today (free report, free trial, free online publication, forum)

    i) YOUR Contact info (don't laugh….it's crazy how often this is missed).

It's only when our questions have been answered and we like and trust enough that we are willing to take the next step and purchase a product or service.

What's interesting is that a buying pattern can take seconds, or months depending on how much risk is involved in the purchase. Low risk, we fly through the steps. High risk we need way more information.

UNDERSTAND YOUR PROSPECT'S BUYING PATTERN and PROVIDE THEM WITH WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR and the result is MORE CUSTOMERS.

Have you ever had a really good look at who's actually referring you and been surprised to find it's a handful of the same people over and over again,

    or

Have you wondered why more of your customers or strategic partners aren't referring you at all?

Even though you might have a great product or service and your customers rave about what you or your product have done for them, they may NEVER refer you. Think about it. Do you refer every product or service that you have had a great experience with? Of course not. The good news is that doesn't mean working on your referral system is a waste of time. Instead try looking at your referral sources in a different light. If you can start to recognize their profiles, you may just find you can start to create a much more powerful Referral Marketing System and generate a flood of new customers!

    Who will refer you?

If you are currently getting referrals, start looking at the people that are referring you the most. At first glance, you might not see any differences between them and other customers. In fact they may not have even been your best customer. Instead what you are likely to find is that they have one or more of the following characteristics.

If you have ever read the Tipping Point you might recall that Gladwell talks about these first 3 very powerful groups of individuals:

Salesmen or Persuaders – You can't miss these charismatic people. You probably find yourself drawn in by their charm. Lucky for you, they are also naturally armed with powerful negotiation skills that cause others to want to agree with them. When a persuader mentions your product or service, he or she will encourage others to try it and they will.

Connectors – These are your customers that have a large social network and are happy to connect you with those networks; or share their experiences with your product or service with their network.

Mavens – These individuals are information specialists or people we rely on to provide us with new information, especially those around your particular product or service. For example a food critic for a restaurant would be an ideal maven and strong referral source, or someone who researches and downloads a large number of phone apps could refer a ton of people to a new business iPhone app.

The above can (and often are) combined with one of more of the following:

Raving fans – The product or service you provided has had such an impact on them that they just can't stop talking about it and/or others have noticed the results.

Strategic Partners – Strategic partners share your same target audience. The strategic partners that will refer you the most (assuming they also have some of the above mentioned characteristics) are those that come just before you in the timing cycle.

For example, while real estate agents and movers share a similar target audience, because realtors tend to come before the moving company in the timing cycle of moving they will be able to refer more business to the mover than vice versa.

Friends/Families/Peers – Because they believe in you and want to support you, your friends, family members and peers will refer you. But don't get upset if they don't. It's likely because they don't portray any of the other above mentioned characteristics.

Others with a similar target audience – If a woman is pregnant and within a short period of time many of those around her also become pregnant, as a provider of baby gear you might find that this individual is referring you a ton because she is surrounded by others currently in the market for what you offer.

Doers – One of the reasons we don't refer every product or service we come across is because we simply don't have the time. Doers are those that will follow through with action, and tend to be efficient with their time. If they say they will send contact info about a great company, they will. If you ask for a referral and they say yes, they will give it. Others are more introverted and can be described more as thinkers. They may be less likely to actually follow through with a referral source or even refer you at all.

    Here is a great exercise.

In your database, start to identify your customers (and even prospects) by the traits above. Do you find that those with a strong combination of traits are also strong referrals? Can you now start to think of better ways to reach out to them and get them more engaged in referring you more?

At the very least, I hope this information also helps you forgive or understand why some of your customers aren't referring you at all even though they raved about your product or service. It's not because they don't want to, they just may not be programmed to do so.

If you are using Facebook personally or are still one of those rare people who aren't part of what compares in size as being the 3rd largest country in the world, you might want to consider "playing" with some fun techniques here to market your business.

Of course to start with you will need to create a Page for your Business if you haven't already. Go here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php to get started. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Collect "Likes" for Charity – A "Like" on Facebook equates to a soft referral and has taken the place of "becoming a fan". Businesses know that if someone in your network "likes" something then it will get more of your attention. American Express Open used this technique to promote their Small Business Saturday promotion. Set a figure you would like to donate (say it's $100) to your favorite charity. Friends can basically help to donate by liking your page over a specific period of time. You will then donate $1 for every like to this charity up to a certain number (100 in this case) of "likes".

Run a Contest – Make sure you read Facebook's Promotional Guidelines (http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php) before you do this. But if done correctly, it can draw a lot of exposure. I saw this used very effectively and correctly by a client of mine The Chamberlain Group (http://chamberlaingroup.ca/). They had just had a baby, and decided to run a cutest baby or (for their friends who didn't have kids) cutest pet contest. Prizes were $1000 for the baby's RESP or dog food for a year, donated by a local pet store. You could post the picture of your baby or pet on their website and of course contestants promoted their baby or pet through their networks. The exposure for these savvy realtors was enormous, but it also allowed them to connect and give back in a fun way to their network.

Run a Fun Ad – If you have never clicked on the little advertising button on the bottom of your Facebook page, you should. Setting up an ad on Facebook only takes a minute and you can set some very low dollar amounts to keep the cost down. Besides being a great place to test your ads or a headline, Facebook ads work! Instead of just trying to sell your business though, try using them creatively.

Taylor Pratt was promoting his popular Ravenhunt game on Facebook and wanted to increase the click through rates of his ads (read full article here: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/fun-ways-to-improve-facebook-ad-ctrs/18779/). His first ads were pretty good. But when he had a bit more fun with the pictures his click through rates doubled and when he beckoned to his target audience his click through rates tripled.

Have fun with your Fan Page – Often businesses will leave their Wall as the default entry point to their page, but you can add new tabs to your page like the Welcome tab below and customize your settings so the people land on this page first. Examples like the one below are way more enticing and give people multiple ways to engage with you. You can use a Graphic Designer to help you design a page like this or fan page software.

Find ways for people to interact – Target ran a very successful campaign on Facebook asking users to help them select which charities they should allocate their charitable funds to. Called the "Bullseye Gives" campaign, Target used a Facebook voting application and integrated it onto their business page. Each time someone voted (they could vote daily), they could publish their vote back to their Facebook feed, meaning more people could see Target's branding and becoming followers of the company's page.

As you can see Facebook, just like every other marketing tool out there is just that a vehicle. It won't go anywhere or do anything, without your input, expertise and experience. Have fun!

If you were to look at the biggest marketing trend in 2010, most would say it was the year of "Social Media". Small and mid-sized businesses were joining the ranks of large corporations on Facebook, Linked In, You Tube and Twitter, trying desperately to figure out how to use these tools to market their products and services.

Websites are no longer an option, they're mandatory. Additionally, social media is no longer its own entity. These sites are simply another place for you to claim your online real estate. For the first time ever, website visits are going down as people rely more on sites like Facebook and blogs to build relationships and check out companies. Additionally, recent trends show that 92% of consumers do their research online for new products and services.

So as we enter 2011, it makes sense that online marketing will play even a larger role for SME's to attract more qualified leads. But this is also the year that we are going to see an emergence of old and new techniques to convert these online contacts into offline sales.

Here are some techniques to consider:

a)TRACK - You need to really get to know your prospects and the best way to do this is to track activity. If you aren't tracking where your leads come from and what they are responding to, it becomes increasingly difficult to tailor the information and stay efficient with your marketing

There are some very powerful tools on the market that make tracking a no brainer. Google Analytics is free and very easy to integrate into your site in order to track where people are going, where they came from and how much time they are spending. "Knowing how a customer acts within your site is vital", says Shmuli Goldberg, director of marketing and communications for online-analytics provider ClickTale. For instance, you can use analytics to find out where users click most on your site, or what grabs their attention and holds it. You can glean how prospects react to your online forms, right down to what they won't fill out. Once you know where you are losing visitors, you can make changes to your site that eliminate superfluous information and allow for a more user-friendly browsing experience.

Another great tracking tool that incorporates your offline marketing initiatives is My Next Customer (http://www.mynextcustomer.com/).

b)ATTRACT & QUALIFY - Make sure you are including a call to action in your online promotional activities, and really spend some time ensuring this call to action will attract qualified leads. In a recent study of 130 ads, companies simply sent visitors to their home page, leaving it up to the prospect to navigate themselves around the information. It is much more effective if you send them directly to a page with targeted information.

c)ENGAGE - It's one thing to read interesting and relevant information. But it's even better if you can engage the prospect and in doing so, learn more about their needs. For example, can they complete a survey to learn more about their situation or needs? Can they watch a video and answer skill testing questions? Never underestimate the "fun" factor in building relationships.

d)RESPOND- If you are going to ask prospects to submit information or request information online, make sure you are set up to respond quickly - preferably within seconds with an automated email response. There are also services that can do phone follow up for you like LeadQual (http://leadqual.com/) who will respond to requests for as little as $5 lead. Remember, the faster you respond to the information the better the results.

e)MIX MEDIUMS - It's never good to assume that all people like to be contacted in the same way. Some people rarely answer their phones, others will ignore your emails and others adore old fashioned mail or face to face meetings. Therefore, consider mixing mediums with your prospects. If they have signed up for your newsletter, perhaps send them an offer like a free CD that would require them to fill in their mailing address. Now, you can mail other information or even Christmas Cards from time to time. Consider asking them to fill out their phone number as a mandatory field which would allow you to survey subscribers about your ezine and their challenges with respect to your types of products and services. Invite them to live events, via email, phone, and/or email. The more you mix mediums the more likely you are to get the attention of prospects and convert them to sales.

f)KEEP RESPONDING - Don't lose heart if leads aren't converting after your initial effort. Leads360, a provider of lead-management, found that making a second phone call increased the chance of making a sale by 87%. Further, the magical number of calls it took to change as many prospects as possible into clients was six. Jeff Solomon, founder and Senior Vice President of Leads360, says the six-call follow-up should take place within the first month of initially hearing from the prospect. If you want to do something other than phone calls, consider "nurture emails or drip campaigns" that contain additional information, such as guides, online calculators and other tools that can help prospects better understand your interest in landing their business. Be patient.

Remember, once a prospect knows, likes and trusts you enough, they WILL buy from you when the timing is right.

Article Title: 5 Business Reasons To Be On Google+

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Early adaptors are showing enough cautious optimism that it's time you become aware of what all the hype is about with Google+, that's if you aren't already "building circles" and "hanging out."

If you think "Why? It's less than a month old. How big can it be?"

You need to know that in its tiny life span it has already exceeded 20 million users (something that took both Facebook & Twitter 3 years to do). That means Google+ might be the newest entry in the social media ring, but it's definitely in the "heavyweight" division. It has created a platform that quite frankly melds the worlds of Facebook, Twitter, and Skype.

So why would a business look to jump on the Google+ bandwagon?

Reason #1 – It's another place to claim your online real estate. If you haven't already, you should start by setting up a Gmail account and then your personal Google Profile and make it public. If you have one and it's private, Google may have already deleted it. Not only does Google+ revolve around your Google profile, but once you set it up, it will probably rank at the top of the first page of Google with links to your site, blog, etc. How great is that!

Make sure to fill your profile out with a ton of valuable information about you and your company. By the way, at this point Google+ is set up to work with People profiles only…their business version of this tool is expected to hit later this year, so you need to start by creating a personal profile first.

Reason #2 – Getting in early makes it easy for people to find you. When you launch Google+ you will see that it immediately lists a ton of possible people you might know and within seconds you can drag and drop them into groups called "Circles." These mean you can segregate and communicate with different sets of contacts from Family, Friends, Co-Workers, Acquaintances, etc. If you join late and people don't see you or can't find you, you're going to be the one doing all the legwork to find them later on. Right now, Google+ has made connecting with contacts even easier in that you can upload contacts - up to a 100 at a time per day.

Reason #3 – It's a haven of business minded individuals. Google+ is attracting an incredibly high percentage of business people and entrepreneurs. This makes it a great arena for B2B companies and for online networking. I certainly don't just mean small business owners either. I was immediately able to connect with the likes of Michael Dell and Mark Zuckerberg (Not surprisingly, he isn't saying much, not to mention that Google+ hasn't started to verify famous profiles so who knows if it's really him). Unlike Facebook where you have to put out a friend request and then be accepted, Google+ works more like Twitter, where you can add anybody to your Circles. When that person provides updates, they can choose if they want the world to see it or only certain circles. So it's a nicely structured online networking haven.

Reason #4 – Your Own FREE Virtual Soapbox and Meeting Space – Google+has a function called a Hangout. It's got some glitches, so you will definitely want to have a test run before you get too carried away with this. But let's say you want to share a concept about your business (think webinar) – you can start a hangout and either invite people in your circle or publicly. You can only have 10 people on a hangout at any time, but it's free and it is video chat. Talk about an inexpensive conference call tool.

You can also use it for meetings with collaborators or to present to prospect. It's not perfect yet, so be careful on the importance of the presentation, would hate to rely on it for a million dollar deal just yet!

Reason #5 – MOST IMPORTANTLY – It can drive a ton of traffic to your site – Since joining Google+, John was saying he's astounded with the amount of traffic it's bringing to the Duct Tape Marketing site. Ventureweb.com noted that 67 percent of its online referrals came via Google Plus in one day. The beautiful thing about this is it's free! Of course it doesn't just happen. You need to be active on Google+ in terms of posting, and following people and adding them in your circles to see the results.

So I hope if you are completely new to Google+, I have convinced you to a least take a look at it, and for those of you heavily entrenched, I look forward to connecting and hearing about your discoveries.

I discovered this little piece of heaven on holidays this year. It's a place on the Sunshine Coast in Canada, and I fell in love with it so much, I have gone back twice already. Both times that I caught a glimpse of the view, I got goosebumps and my eyes welled up with tears. In other words, I experienced 2 pure moments of "WOW."

I think as we get older we have less of these wow moments. Think about it, children can discover multiple new things in a day that WOW them, but as time passes we have higher expectations and sadly less new experiences. So a "WOW" when you're my age is extra special.

So let me ask you this, can you recall those moments when you have experienced something so "out of the park" amazing that it took your breath away? Maybe the birth of a child, an incredible gesture of kindness or a beautiful view? Now think about your business. This business that you chose to leave corporate life to do. This business that allowed you to pursue your passion. Now, let me ask you, "when you look at what you are delivering to your customers" are you delivering, (I mean TRULY delivering), that WOW?"

I was recently reading a great book that really brought this topic home. It's called "Platform" by Michael Hyatt and he suggests that the definition of a successful business is one that recognizes when the Wow is absent and refuses to settle for anything less. So today I'd like you to think about what you could do to blow the minds of your customers. To cause them to experience such a rush of positive emotions that they are bursting to tell others about you and/or your offerings.

Here's some ways that hopefully will help you think of how you can go that extra mile.

Over Deliver – Review what you currently offer verbally, in your proposals, in your printed materials and on your website. Now offer something that increases the value by at least 25% for absolutely nothing. This could be a bundle of your favorite books, unlimited email access to you, an additional program that is super popular, a VIP only event….the options are endless.

Up Your "New Customer" Experience – When a new client comes on board do you do something to truly welcome them with open arms. How do you present your products and services? Do you include a welcome gift? Do you outline next steps clearly? Do you have special touches or privileges for your customers? Consider setting out a budget for a new customer just to put towards packaging, additional time spent with them and/or a special gift or special delivery. Go way beyond what a competitor is doing.

Up Your Communications – How often do you talk to your customers after the initial purchase and in what fashion? Consider mixing up sending them thank you's or reminders or cards in the mail with emails, phone calls and even a personal meeting. If your competitors send Christmas cards, send Christmas chocolates or a Christmas basket. Send them thoughtful information or connect them with another useful resource.

Thank them when they leave – as small business owners, we can be easily offended when a customer chooses to no longer work with us. Imagine their surprise if you show gratitude even when leaving. It's very important to collect as much information from departing businesses as possible to learn what you can change and improve. Make sure you ask them and then also thank them for their business and let them know you are genuinely sorry to see them go. Ask them what they liked and what you could improve upon and then send them your thank you in the mail in the form of a handwritten card or even a small gift.

Your Challenge (should you choose to accept it)

Some say that one of the quickest way to go out of business is to invest your marketing dollars in a bad (or blasé) product or service. But it can also be tragedy to lose your passion for you business and go on day to day knowing you could do more. Make it count, be memorable and keep upping the "wow" bar. What's one thing you can start doing today to blow your customers away?

And, hey, feel free to share your "wow" moments too. I'd love to hear them.

If you are struggling to make it in Internet marketing, or just trying to get started, you may have heard of the Plug In Profits site, and wondered if it could help you. It certainly seems to have helped a lot of people, and is becoming increasingly popular throughout the online community.

However, you obviously need to have the facts about the system, before committing yourself to joining it.

    What Exactly Is This Program?

The Plug In Profits site is a WordPress-enabled affiliate website with a complete training package, created by the Internet guru Stone Evans.

The site is predesigned and fully operational, already loaded with five affiliate programs for you to promote. You can customize the site if you know HTML or are able to use a web page editor, and obviously it is to your advantage to do this, so your site won't be identical to everyone else's.

Although the site itself is free of charge, you do have to pay for the domain name and hosting — you actually have to use the provider's own hosting service. You also have to pay to sign up to the affiliate programs that are loaded on to the site, in order to promote them. You are not actually obliged to sign up for any of them, but obviously you will lose the profit opportunity for any program you pass up on.

    The Training Package

The really distinctive feature of the Plug In Profits site is the 30-day training module, which is developed in a way that makes it very easy for you to learn. It uses a step-by-step approach, in which you are encouraged to take one simple action each day, and build on this the following day.

The topics it covers include methods of promoting your site, obtaining quick leads with free and paid-for solo ads, and article marketing. This training was developed personally by Stone Evans, and simply reflects what he does himself in his own marketing, so you can be sure it teaches you what actually works.

    Work Done For You

For many users, the most powerful feature of the Plug In Profits site is the provision of the 400 articles, which are already created on your WordPress blog. If you have had any experience of trying to do article marketing, you will have some idea of the colossal amount of time it would take you to write this number of articles.

This represents a huge amount of work which you don't have to do.

There are all sorts of ways you can use these articles. For instance, you can load them on to an autoresponder and use them as part of an e-mail campaign, when customers opt in to receive information from you. However, you can use them even more effectively by tweaking them to make them individual to yourself.

You can then either submit them to article directories, to help drive traffic to your site, or use them as content on your site, to help it achieve higher search engine rankings.

The important thing to remember is that Stone Evans' purpose in designing the Plug In Profits Site was to help you set up your own Internet marketing business, not to do all the work for you.

With the Plug In Profits site you have all the ingredients for success, but the success itself depends on how badly you want it to work, and how focused you are. As with every enterprise, if you are persistent, motivated and work smart, you definitely can succeed.

Building a good MLM leads list is very important to the success of your online marketing business. If you do this effectively, you will surely generate a passive income that will allow you to concentrate on other aspects of your business to help it grow.

Making a strong leads list can be achieved in two different ways. You can build the list yourself or you can purchase a list that someone else built.

Purchasing Lists May Not Be the Best Investment

Some online marketers recommend buying a leads list to have a start on your MLM business. Prospecting is sometimes tedious and time-consuming, but finding lists that are hot leads or full of warm is the key.

You can often find lists that are outdated and cold. If you buy this and contact these people, you will surely be recognized as a spammer. Thus, you should be careful when purchasing lists.

Look at list buying as a good investment for your business, but you should invest wisely. It's more beneficial to spend a small amount of money on a list full of warm to hot MLM leads list than to save a good deal and buy a cold list with totally no hope of generating new prospects.

    Building Your Own List

Unless you have a lot of money to invest in warm leads list, you should do what it takes to build your own strong MLM leads list. Many people entering into an MLM business don't have enough funds to spare to buy a quality list.

This is something you can carry out later, once you're established and generating a decent income. However, it's also very important for you to understand how to build MLM leads list regardless of whether you can afford to purchase a list or not.

Learning how to prospect and build a strong MLM leads list can be a good training to help you grow your business. It helps you improve your skills and learn how to pitch the company or business your represent.

The Internet Provides a Better Way

If you operate an MLM business and have a website in place, you should learn how Search-Engine Optimization (SEO) works. This helps your website ranked high on search results. Thus, when others are seeking information about your business they'll surely find your site at the top of the search results.

Try to use social media to leverage contacts, start a buzz, and spread the word about your company. If you use social media effectively, you can build a strong reputation.

Also, joining forums in the area you represent helps build trust. Be wary though that you can't just join and promote your products only.

You should gain the trust through participating, helping, and promoting others, then you can slip in your signature, your own stuff or even in your posts on a regular basis.

People typically want to learn how to do things better. They usually seek webinars and videos online for answers.

You could set up videos and webinars explaining about your business or how to do something. When you hold a webinar, be sure to ask for email address, and gradually build a list in this way.

Once your webinar is done, post it on YouTube or on your own website to increase the size of your MLM leads list.

Article Title: Protection Management and the Study of Terrorism

Why should everyone employed and those who seek employment in the intelligence field consider the study of protection management and particularly the study of terrorism? The answer is multifaceted and versatile, yet ultimately simple. First, to do your job better; second, to understand your enemy so that you can defeat him/her; and third, to better protect your country. Of course, an added benefit would be job promotion, and accordingly, better pay.

What exactly is protection management? There are two types of protection management. Data Protection Management (DPM), which is the use of backup processes to ensure that data is securely backed up and recoverable; and Population Protection Management (PPM), which is the all-encompassing methodology used to protect and ensure the safety of the population through use of security video cameras, metal detectors, and surveillance drones. Population Protection Management is particularly tricky, as the US Constitution must be considered at all times in order to balance the public's safety and protection, and to guarantee that the people are not subjected to unreasonable searches and seizures.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, terrorism has risen to become the primary threat to United States (US) national security; several studies on terrorism have led to the US Government enacting certain protection management measures that have been subject to public controversy, such as the Federal Bureau Investigations' (FBI) operation of surveillance drones over US territory. Many civil libertarians view an act such as this, in the name of Population Protection Management as an abuse of government power, though they do not clearly understand the nature of the operations. It is in cases such as these where it is necessary to educate the population on the purpose and intent of Population Protection Management measures the government is enacting and what oversight measures are in place to ensure the integrity of American Civil Liberties.

From the study of terrorism and protection management as taught by experts in the field, we can learn to improve the provision of safety and protection education to the public, so that the public is aware of potential suspicious packages and what to do if they encounter such an item. Rule number one is 'Don't touch it.' Rule number two: 'Call the authorities.' We can further secure computers by consistent use of anti-hacking programs and detailed security programs. We can methodically increase surveillance of our reservoirs and waterways and we can intelligently increase the use of surveillance cameras accompanied by the use of surveillance drones, among other protection management initiatives.

Through the systemic study of terrorism and protection management, we are able to address and resolve problems such as the issue of the use of surveillance cameras, their proliferation, utility, and reliability. The study of terrorism and protection management will provide those employed in the intelligence field with the insight and additional tools with which to better do their respective jobs. Finally, one can pursue the study of terrorism at their leisure through online education or through traditional brick and mortar institutions.

Today's health-food diets are in stark contrast to what was considered a 'normal' diet less than 50 years ago. It used to be that meat and potatoes were the staple of every dinner, and eggs and bacon the cornerstone of every breakfast. Not so anymore. The so-called modern diet experts are touting more than ever the health benefits associated with vegetable diets. Where does that leave us voracious carnivores? In most social circles, it leaves us out in the cold, and our meat-rich diet is viewed upon as that of animalistic brutes who haven't quite caught up with the rest of the world. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. Lots of people still eat meat these days, although sparingly for most folks.

If you are a meat lover and you enjoy eating high levels of protein and fat, you'll love this meat lover's delight. It contains some of the best tasting meats that are both inexpensive and easy to prepare. Additionally, it contains one other ingredient that would make any licensed nutritionist run for the hills: mayonnaise! If the thought of heavy chunks of meat lathered in sinful mayonnaise doesn't scare you, keep reading!

For this salad (if you can call it that!), you'll need one fully cooked chicken breast. Cook it however you like - boiled, fried, grilled, flame broiled, steamed. Once it's done, dice it up into small chunks. You'll need to dice up a ham too, at least 8 ounces worth. Put the diced chicken and diced ham into a large bowl.

I love peppered bacon, but I know several people who don't, so if you're one of those people that avoids heavy doses of pepper, you might want to use regular bacon for this recipe. Fire up the heat on your stove top and then pan fry at least four thick slices of peppered bacon. The trick to not overcooking bacon is to remove it a few minutes before you think it's done; the hot grease will keep cooking the bacon after you remove it from the pan. Place the bacon on a layer of paper towels and let the grease drip off.

The next step is to make the salad dressing. Add these ingredients to a medium sized bowl: 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1/2 cup of sour cream, 2 tablespoons of mustard (preferably Dijon's), 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 cup of slivered almost (you can roast these in a frying pan if you prefer them crispy), and a 1/2 cup of diced celery. Mix it all together until it becomes smooth textured.

The bacon should have cooled down by now. Cut the bacon into tiny pieces (or simply tear it by hand into tiny pieces) and add the bacon to the bowl containing the chopped chicken and ham.

The final step is to pour the salad dressing into the bowl and mix everything together. Be warned: the mixture of meat, mayonnaise, and sour cream creates an extremely pleasurable, endorphin-releasing taste! Don't eat it all at once. If you want to use this as a snack or an appetizer, spread this tasty salad onto Ritz crackers. Or, better yet, spread this salad onto some hot tortillas.

You should let the salad chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before eating.

The below list of ingredients will serve four to six people:

    You'll need these meats:

8 ounces of fully cooked, diced ham

8 ounces of fully cooked, diced chicken

4 to 6 pieces of cooked bacon (I prefer peppered)

You'll need these ingredients for the dressing:

1/2 cup of your favorite brand of sour cream (I prefer Knudsen)

1/2 cup of your favorite brand of mayonnaise (I prefer Best Foods)

1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons of your favorite mustard (I prefer Dijon's)

    1/2 cup of diced celery

1/2 cup of slivered almonds (fry them in a pan if you want them crispy)

    Salt and pepper

Rating: PG-13 (strong language, sexual material)

    Length: 90 min

    Release date: June 14, 2013

    Directed by: Morgan Neville

    Genre: Documentary

    Stars: 3 out of 5

"20 Feet From Stardom" (trailer here) takes a look into the hidden world of backup singers. Everyone recognizes the bands and singers who make it big, but often the men and women who stand behind them on stage go unnoticed. This film follows Darlene Love, Lisa Fischer, Tata Vega, and Merry Clayton, four remarkably talented backup singers, on their quests for stardom and love.

Morgan Neville directs while Gil Friesen produces, and both men have their fair share of experience in the entertainment industry. Numerous music industry elites round out the film, giving their perspectives on why the film's talented backup singers were so close to stardom and yet never quite made it. Sting, Bette Midler, and Mick Jagger are just a few of the music icons who make appearances as themselves.

While "20 Feet From Stardom" is a documentary, fans of music will find that the film defies genre and speaks directly to the human experience of these women. The film impressively competes with the action-packed blockbusters and thrillers filling theatres using simple but effective camerawork, great storytelling, and a raw look at the real lives of talented but star-crossed singers.

One of the most compelling aspects of the film is the look at the racism that permeated the music industry not long ago. In fact, many of the same issues faced by the film's leading ladies still exist today for many singers and other entertainers. "20 Feet From Stardom" examines the various reasons why it was so difficult for these women to achieve the success they dreamed of, highlighting the often unspoken racism and sexism behind the scenes of the music industry. While each woman had an abundance of vocal talent, that talent was not necessarily a recipe for success when it came to upfront stardom.

As much as "20 Feet From Stardom" is a critical look at the music industry, it is also a tale of triumph. Singers like Darlene Love and Merry Clayton truly helped to make music what it is today, and they are celebrated in the film for their roles, even if they aren't celebrated as lead singers with prominent solo careers. The film delves deeply into the passion that backup singers have for music and how deeply many of them are affected by the music they perform. A world without backup singers would be a world without all the rich layering and atmosphere that makes music so enjoyable, and "20 Feet From Stardom" does a great job of showing that important quality.

Another compelling aspect of the film is the personal conflict that each singer must face between their family lives and their careers. This aspect is particularly relatable to audience members who have ever had to choose between two great loves. Morgan Neville truly understands this conflict, and the storytelling of the film reflects the nuanced considerations that each of these women dealt with on a daily basis.

It should come as no surprise that "20 Feet From Stardom," centering around the music industry, is full of great songs. The difference between this and other films about the music industry is the different perspective on popular songs. Audiences may be familiar with the classic songs played by artists and bands such as Sting, Bette Midler, The Rolling Stones, and Stevie Wonder, but music fans have never heard their favorite songs like this. "20 Feet From Stardom" shows performances through the eyes of the backup singers, adding a whole new layer of complexity and understanding to the music, making the film a must-see for any music lover, young or old.

As with many popular documentary films, "20 Feet From Stardom" is filmed in a unique way that truly highlights the subject matter. Swift cuts and plenty of interviews interspersed throughout the various narratives of the film's leading ladies make for a fast-paced and easy-to-follow film. Unlike other documentaries about rock and roll, "20 Feet From Stardom" shines the spotlight on the very people who are paid to stay out of it. These backup singers may have disappeared into the tapestry of bright stage lights, loud music, and charismatic lead singers on stage, but this film is all about them.

"20 Feet From Stardom" is an excellent film full of classic music, compelling storylines, true stories, and social commentary. The film delves into the deep racial and gender-based tensions that held so many talented women back from the stardom they worked for so intently. This is a must-see film for anyone who has ever wondered about the women who make music just out of the spotlight's reach.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

The terms "popcorn flick" and "summer movie" are almost synonymous. The movie studios use the summer season to release what are referred to as "tent pole" films, the big blockbusters that will make them enough money to take risks on smaller films that don't have nearly as wide an audience. Each summer, the ante seems to be raised as to what constitutes a blockbuster, and 2013 is no different. With big fare like "Man of Steel" and "Pacific Rim" on the horizon, can a film like "Kick-Ass 2," due out on August 16, be one of the best films of the season?

Judging by the two trailers that have been released so far, the answer is an unequivocal yes. The first, a red-band trailer that was not safe for work or children, was released in March 2013 to much anticipation as fans of the first film clamored to see what their favorite characters had been up to since the original "Kick-Ass." The clip was over two-and-half minutes long and had plenty of action, starting with the innocent-looking Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) imploring Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) to hit her. When he does, she retaliates with a series of fight moves that makes him hit the floor, writhing in pain in the fetal position.

The clip goes on to show that villain Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) has been working on his new identity, which is bigger and badder than it was in the original. He renames himself an expletive that isn't family-friendly, hence the trailer being labeled as red band. Though Mintz-Plasse looks like he's having unadulterated fun as the new/old bad guy, it's the introduction of another new character that just might steal the entire show.

The team of super fighters is joined by a new guy named Col. Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), a wisecracking basher who has a bat that's never met a head it didn't like. He's highly entertaining and has some of the best one-liners in the trailer, a fact which will probably hold true in the movie as well. The addition of a big-name star to the sequel is quite a boon for the budding franchise, which didn't have a bona fide bankable movie star when the first film came out in 2010.

Of course, the original film was so irreverent and fun that having a big movie star really wasn't a necessity. Casting Carrey now in the sequel seems like more of an insurance plan for the movie executives, who were surely aware of the stiff competition the film would face once it was released in theaters. With auteur director Guillermo del Toro's big-budget action flick "Pacific Rim" gaining traction and plenty of superhero lore in the form of "Iron Man 3" and the Superman reboot "Man of Steel," "Kick-Ass 2" had to find a way to stand out. Casting the rubber-faced Carrey as a street savvy, hilarious hero is one big way to not only make the movie stand out, but to achieve the rare feat of making the sequel better than the original. Only a few sequels, such as "The Godfather: Part II," have ever been touted by critics as being superior to their predecessors. Perhaps "Kick-Ass 2" can reach that vaunted territory with Carrey on board.

One of the best things about "Kick-Ass 2" is that someone who's unfamiliar with these characters can jump right in without having seen the original and still enjoy the film. Some sequels, such as those in the "Harry Potter" series, almost demand viewing the previous movies to understand what's going on. This is simply not the case with "Kick-Ass 2," though viewing the original film might still be a good idea-if only because it's a pulpy, highly entertaining movie that's worth tracking down.

When a film has a litany of entertaining characters and makes a ton of money the way "Kick-Ass" did, it's no surprise when a studio orders a sequel to be made. Though the studio's reasons for making the film are mostly financial, the audience's decision to see the film is based solely on the entertainment factor that comes from such raucous characters. As Col. Stars and Stripes says in the trailer, "Try to have fun. Otherwise, what's the point?" The audience won't need to try very hard to have fun with this cast, which is the biggest reason "Kick-Ass 2" stands a fantastic chance of being one of the best movies of the summer.

Traveling to a foreign country for work has its challenges, especially if the traveler in question has been deceived about the work. Such is the story of Gilderoy (Toby Jones), a British sound engineer who has been hired to do work on a film about horses in "Berberian Sound Studio," a mind-bending thriller with enough drama and horror to please fans of all three genres.

Gilderoy arrives in Italy to a cool welcome from receptionist Elena (Tonia Sotiropoulou), which should have been his first clue that trouble was on the horizon. She couldn't seem to care less about him or his work on the soundtrack to "The Equestrian Vortex"- a movie about horses. Gilderoy believes he is to create the soundtrack, get reimbursed for his travel expenses plus his work fee, and then return to England. Nothing happens quite as he expects since the director Santini (Antonio Mancino) and producer Francesco (Cosimo Fusco) haven't exactly been forthcoming with him about the subject matter of the film. It isn't actually about horses; it is about a girl who used to ride horses who is now the subject of torture in a giallo, a word locals use for a bloody, exploitative horror film made on a shoestring budget.

Gilderoy is unnerved by the sounds he is forced to make for the soundtrack of the film. He sticks knives into heads of cabbage to make stabbing sounds, smashes watermelons to simulate a head being cracked, and records women in booths making blood-curdling screams. It all begins to tax his nerves, causing him to lose his grip on reality. The fact that he is isolated and doesn't speak Italian only feeds his paranoia, causing him to think that things happening in the film are happening to him in real life. Soon, he can't discern the difference between the movie and his life, causing him to behave erratically. After a while, the erratic behavior becomes downright dangerous for all involved, putting lives in peril.

There is a certain satisfaction to be had when destroying things. The smashing of objects and the resulting sound can be quite cathartic and is likely even more fun when getting paid to do all that smashing. Unfortunately, Gilderoy is so aghast almost from the minute he enters the studio that the pleasure he could have indulged in when creating the soundtrack seems lost on him for the most part. Thankfully, the audience still gets to see and hear the surprising satisfaction of destroyed produce and other items, resulting in several scenes that would make the watermelon-smashing comedian Gallagher proud. The studio looks like the result of a food fight at a farmer's market, but it is fun to watch.

Since the film is set in the 1970s, the movie technology that is so prevalent today was either in its infancy or hadn't been invented yet. This forces director Peter Strickland to use the technology that was available at the time, meaning he couldn't rely on heavy computer-generated sounds like a modern director would. It allows the audience to get a behind-the-scenes peek at what filmmaking was like at that time, which is quite different from what one might expect. As the film being made is something of a slasher film, it has several unique and horrifying sounds that have to be captured by Gilderoy, such as a smashed skull or a severed limb. Watching as these sounds get made in the studio using fruits and vegetables is a bit like watching sausage get made yet it's fascinating all the same.

The film-within-a-film trope has been done before, but rarely is it this thrilling. There are directors who are content to keep using the same cliché over and over without offering anything new, and then there are directors such as Strickland who takes those tropes and turn them on their heads. Since he wrote the screenplay and directed the film, he gets the lion's share of the credit for the success of the film. Some credit should also go to Jones, who turns in a nuanced performance as Gilderoy, allowing the audience to see his slow unraveling and decent into possible madness. It's akin to a train wreck the audience is unable to stop watching, nor will they want to. The film was lauded by audiences and critics alike when it hit the 2012 Edinburgh Film Festival and for good reason-it is a layered thriller that uniquely takes standard movie fare and makes it fresh and original. It's highly entertaining stuff that more than deserves the worldwide release it is finally getting nearly a year after its premiere.

This summer brings the return of Kick-Ass and his foulmouthed sidekick Hit Girl to the big screen. When we last saw the crime-fighting duo, they recently made the streets of New York City safer by eliminating ruthless crime boss Frank D'Amico. This movie starts out with the two balancing their secret superhero lives with the trials and tribulations that accompany all high school seniors.

Kick-Ass and Hit Girl's heroic actions have led to a new wave of masked crime fighters in the city. Justice Forever is the collection of superheroes fighting on the side of good, while Red Mist (the alter-ego of Chris D'Amico, son of Frank) is attempting to become the world's first super villain.

Based on the success of the original "Kick-Ass," this movie had a much bigger casting budget, and some big-name stars were able to join the fun this time around. This movie promises to be bigger and louder, and it will have considerably more swearing than the original. The addition of some familiar faces will make this film even more fun for moviegoers.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns for his role as Dave Lizewski, the soft-spoken teenager who transformed himself into Kick-Ass in the original movie. He has obviously spent some time in the gym preparing for this role, and he is much more muscular and defined this time around. His ability to play both the quiet young man and the unstoppable superhero rivals that of any actor in a similar role. Kick-Ass spends a large amount of time in this movie training to be better, stronger, and faster in order to be the best hero he can be. Taylor-Johnson does an excellent job reprising this role.

Perhaps the best role in the original movie belonged to Chloe Moretz, who played Mindy Macready/Hit Girl. Mindy had been trained by her father to be part of his vigilante team, but after his unfortunate death, she teamed up with Kick-Ass. Mindy/Hit Girl fights and cusses her way out of every situation and looks after Dave/Kick-Ass the entire time. Moretz has seen her share of success since the original movie, and fans everywhere can't wait to see her return this summer as the always outspoken Hit Girl.

Since the death of his father at the hands of Kick-Ass, Red Mist has vowed to exact revenge on anyone involved. Christopher Mintz-Plasse returns to play this role, and most audience members have never seen him look quite like this. Wearing a sinister moustache and goatee, he has come far from his McLovin days. Fitting in perfectly with the tone of the film, he reintroduces himself as Mother F**ker this time around. With unlimited financial resources, he is determined to orchestrate the end of Kick-Ass forever.

One of the surprise additions to the cast is Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes. The Colonel was once a member of D'Amico's gang, but he is now the founder of Justice Forever, a tightly knit group of vigilantes who began fighting crime out of their admiration of Kick-Ass. Carrey, who has always been a phenomenal voice actor, strays from his typical high-pitched delivery and uses a thick New York accent. He and his sidekick dog have a way of stealing nearly every scene. Carrey was one of the few good things about "Burt Wonderstone," and after his performance in "Kick-Ass 2," we should begin to see more of him in the comedic roles that made him famous.

Donald Faison joins the cast to play Doctor Gravity, an ally of Kick-Ass. Doctor Gravity's back story is that he is a physics professor at Columbia University who invented a device that can make anything 20 times heavier. This device also allows him to levitate. In actuality, his "anti-gravity device" is a baseball bat wrapped in aluminum foil. Faison is best known for his roles on "Scrubs" and "Clueless," and he plays this role in a similar fashion. That's a good thing, because Faison is a funny actor.

The Justice Forever team is also joined by Night B**ch, Insect Man, and Battle Guy. Night B**ch is played by Lindy Booth, and her character is seeking vengeance for her murdered sister. Insect Man, played by Robert Emms, is an ex-cop turned vigilante, and Clark Duke rejoins the cast as Battle Guy. Duke played Dave's best friend Marty in the first movie, and he decides to join the gang in this installment. Each of these characters adds comedic depth to this already hilarious movie.

Rounding out the cast of villains are Daniel Kaluuya as Black Death, Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia, and Andy Nyman as The Tumor. The villains in this movie show alternating levels of skill and ineptitude, which make them perfect for extra comedic relief.

The original "Kick Ass" surprised critics and viewers with its original take on the superhero genre. With all of the original cast and some noteworthy additions, "Kick-Ass 2" may just be the must-see action movie of the summer.

Based on the comic book of the same name, the British-American film "Kick-Ass" was a surprise hit. The 2010 film grossed more than $10 million overseas before opening in America, and it eventually grossed nearly $100 million. In 2012, Universal Studios announced that a sequel would arrive in 2013 and that several stars from the previous film would return. From the moment the studio released its first trailer, fans wondered what the sequel would bring. While the trailer shows some of the biggest moments from "Kick-Ass 2," fans still don't know a few things about the new film.

Jim Carrey ("The Mask") hasn't had much success in the film world lately. While he was once one of the highest earning actors in the world, his last few films made far less than expected. Carrey appears in "Kick-Ass 2" as Sal Bertolinni and his alter ego Colonel Stars and Stripes. He appears fourth in the official cast list, just behind the three returning stars from the first film. Though he turns up in the trailers, fans can't help but wonder how big of a role he has in the film. No one knows if he is another hero, a villain, or just a bit of stunt casting to get people excited about the film.

    What Happens to Hit Girl?

In the original film, Hit Girl (Chloe Mortez) is a young girl with a big secret. Not only does she don a costume to help save the world but she also works closely with her father, played by Nicholas Cage. Since "Kick Ass" arrived in theaters, Mortez gained a cult following, appearing in several films and taking on the lead role in the upcoming remake of "Carrie." Early reports indicate that she goes back to school in the sequel and has issues with her peers. This storyline might end with a massive battle in the high school, or it might lead to yet another story of a conflicted teenage girl.

Will Red Mist Really be a Threat?

"Kick-Ass" featured several villains including Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). When the first film ended, he had changed his name to a less family-friendly moniker and vowed to avenge the death of his father, who Kick-Ass killed. Mintz-Plasse was one of the first actors from the original film who signed on for the sequel, and he made it clear that he only came back because of a great script. It's uncertain what the future will hold for Red Mist, especially since the sequel introduces other villains.

How Close Will the Sequel Follow the Comic?

One of the main complaints fans had with the original "Kick-Ass" film was that it didn't follow the events in the comic book. Several of the key plot points never appeared in the film, and a few of the characters changed too. The new film's screenwriter hinted that he incorporated some elements from the comic into his script. Hopefully the film will have enough of those elements to appease fans of the comic.

    What About Nicholas Cage?

Nicholas Cage ("Leaving Las Vegas") has had as much bad luck in the film world lately as Carrey with a string of films going straight to DVD. In "Kick-Ass," Cage portrayed Big Daddy, the father of Hit Girl, but he met a terrible end in that film. Characters coming back from the dead is nothing new in the world of comic book films, and fans wonder if Cage will make an appearance in this film. The studio announced that it talked to the actor about reprising his role as a cameo in the sequel, which makes sense given that the first film left out much of his backstory. In the movie, Big Daddy was a former police officer, but in the comic, he was a man who lied about his past and just loved comic book characters. Neither the studio nor Cage confirmed his appearance in the new film, but he did admit that he loved playing Big Daddy. Until the film arrives in theaters, fans will have to wait and wonder if Cage will return.

Sequels in Hollywood rarely make as much money as the original films, but "Kick-Ass 2" hopes to change that. By bringing back original cast members and introducing new characters, the screenwriter and director hopes that fans will love this movie just as much as the first one. Given the rumors surrounding the film, it's clear that "Kick-Ass 2" has a few surprises in store for fans.

Rating: R (violence and demonic imagery)

    Length: 121 minutes

    Release date: February 18, 2005

    Directed by: Francis Lawrence

    Genre: Fantasy/ Horror

    Stars: 3.5 out of 5

Comic books have served as source material for the movies since the early Batman and Spider Man serials, with modern movies following suit by bringing the biggest names in comics to big-screen life. Francis Lawrence bucks this trend, however, reaching out to a little-known character named John Constantine as the titular character of his 2005 action-horror picture "Constantine." The film, starring Keanu Reeves in the leading role, is far darker than most comic book movies, embracing a heavy, plot-driven storyline instead of wall-to-wall action, but still managing to produce a movie that attracts comic book lovers and horror movie aficionados alike.

The film is taken largely from the pages of the comic, following a 1991 story arc written by Garth Ennis. John Constantine is a man with the ability to communicate with demons and angels, seeing their spiritual word in stark reality. With knowledge of the truth of angels and demons, he attempts to redeem an early sin of attempted suicide by acting as an exorcist to send the demons back to hell. His work generally involves half-demons and, after facing the attempt of a full-demon to break free from hell into the human realm, he tries to gain the aid of a half-angel, Gabriel, as portrayed by Tilda Swinton.

Constantine's meeting with Gabriel does not go well, leading to a denial of his request for a get-out-of-death-free card to pursue demons, as well as an attack by a full-fledged demon as he leaves the meeting. The failed meeting drives Constantine to seek out advice from the other side through a meeting with Papa Midnite, a witch doctor, and Balthazar, a half-demon, who inform Constantine that hell is awaiting his death anxiously.

With no serious help from either side to keep the full demon safely barricaded in hell, Constantine begins his own investigation during which he meets Detective Angela Dodson, portrayed by Rachel Weisz. Angela is looking for help in solving the apparent death by suicide of her sister Isabel. Angela is convinced that Isabel did not die by her own hand, but those around her, including Constantine, see no reason to doubt the evidence. What Constantine does, however, is tell Angela all about the hidden spiritual word and the battle between God and Lucifer for the souls of mankind. In a surprising coincidence, Angela and Isabel were both able to see the angels and demons, though Angela denied her own powers and had managed to suppress them.

Constantine's investigation leads him to the realization that the full-demon he is trying to stop is none other than Lucifer's son, Mammon, who wishes to establish his own hellish kingdom on Earth. With this revelation, the fight between Mammon and his minions and Constantine begins in earnest.

While there's nothing new about a battle for human souls between Heaven and Hell on the big screen, the comic book approach gives the plotline a completely new dark edge. Reeves is splendid as the cynical demon-hunter. His portrayal of a man already sentenced to Hell and desperate to find a way out through the exorcising of demons is well-played. The character has a dark side that makes the viewer wonder if he's actually fighting for good, having lost much of his own compassionate humanity over the years. His allies are often as dark as he is, straddling the line precariously between right and wrong as they provide him with their often-dubious assistance. Rachel Weisz is the perfect partner for Reeves as Angela. She's strong without becoming abrasive and just as desperate as Constantine in her own search for the truth behind her sister's death.

This is director Francis Lawrence's big-screen debut. His work before this was largely as a music-video director. There's a music-video-like quality to the film, with quick cuts and broad scenes where the characters seem overpowered by the rooms that surround them. Given the ultimate good-vs.-evil nature of the film, however, the large scenes feel appropriate and serve to sell the smallness of the characters of Angela and Constantine when faced with the angelic and demonic forces.

Moviegoers should find "Constantine" to be an enjoyable modern horror film, with elements of fantasy and action tied in to keep the plotline interesting and to add narrative color. While the movie doesn't stick closely to the story as presented in the comic books, the main character as play by Reeves brings enough of the core character to the screen to keep fans well satisfied. Overall, the film is a good escape flick, with a plot that's engaging and with enough action to get the pulse racing.

One of the most difficult challenges that athletic adults face is staying healthy while exercising in extreme heat. As people grow older, the body loses the nutrients and fluids it needs at a much faster rate, and this rate increases as the temperatures rise. However, exercising regularly is an important part of many adults' daily routines. Whether you're going to be visiting Scottsdale or you've been a resident for many years, getting adequate exercise in the great outdoors will prove challenging during the hot summer months. Moving your exercise indoors will certainly help keep you cool, but running on a treadmill and working out in the gym may not provide the excitement you're looking for in your workout. By trying some alternative outdoor exercises in the Scottsdale area, you may be able to find a new way to stay athletic and beat the heat.

    Canoeing, Kayaking, or Rafting

Participating in water sports is one of the best ways to enjoy exercise during the hot summer months. You'll be able to keep cool along the water and will most likely find that paddling a canoe, kayak, or raft is a pretty great workout. The Salt River provides plenty of great spots for paddlers of all ages and skill sets, and is just a short drive from downtown Scottsdale. You can take a guided raft tour, rent a kayak or canoe, or purchase one for yourself and go out on your own. If you choose to do so, make sure that you fully understand the dangers that lie ahead before you embark on your adventure.

Another important thing to consider is planning your entry and exit points of the river. Paddling against the current is nearly impossible at most sections of the river, so you'll need to coordinate the locations of where you put in and where you'll be pulling out. The most efficient way to do this is to go with a partner and have two cars. Park one ahead, down the river, and then you can drive back to where you'll be putting in and start your paddle. Also, make sure everyone you go with has a life jacket at all times. Even the strongest swimmers can become powerless if they get caught in strong currents.

    Horseback Riding

Don't scoff at this athletic idea, horseback riding through the desert is a much more strenuous athletic feat than you may imagine. In Scottsdale, there are a variety of different trails to see that incorporate different levels of terrain. If you have even the slightest experience riding a horse, you'll be able to check out some of the more advanced trails in the area. If you've never ridden a horse before, you'll find that it involves using muscles in your arms, legs, and core that you never even knew existed. The benefits of horseback riding are that you won't necessarily be putting too much stress on your cardiovascular system, and you will be able to pack plenty of water and snacks for your ride.

    Golf

Though playing golf may not seem like the most strenuous exercise that has ever existed, swinging a golf club upwards of 80 or 90 times is a sold workout for your core muscles. While golf carts and the terrain do offer some shade, swinging clubs in the desert at temperatures in the triple digits is not recommended. So, get out early in the day and pack a cooler full of water and snacks, but don't be tempted by the bar when you're making the turn. Alcohol will only dehydrate your body and deplete it of necessary nutrients, so save the drinks for after your round.

Who would have thought that the human act of perspiring could inspire the naming of so many items of clothing? We've got sweaters, sweat pants, sweat shorts and, of course, the sweat shirt. Since this last entry in the hall of sweat is neither a sweater nor a shirt, and since for the people who wear them, breaking into a sweat is an unlikely occurrence, their naming is rather odd.

Wherever they and their name come from, sweat shirts have been a staple of the Western wardrobe for several decades, surviving the inevitable mutations into hoodies and those day-glo tops worn by TOWIE characters on their way to have their eyeballs waxed. Zips and pockets, string-pulls, insignia and elastication have all become normal in the realm of the sweat shirt, and like all garments of the common person, they have become items of the designer repertoire, albeit at quadruple the price for essentially the same thing.

One thing the sweat shirt has never successfully, done, however, is made the leap into formal wear. You can't quite say that about the tee shirt, which can be worn under a suit jacket in a relatively formal business context. So there must be something inherently casual about those long sleeves and slightly thicker material that has kept them away from the board room. The answer probably lies in the cut. Tee shirts can be made to fit the contours of the body; indeed they are the top of choice for any guy who's rather proud of the fruits of his bench presses. But the sweat shirt simply doesn't work as a tighter top. It needs to hang loose and absolutely be a piece of casual wear, otherwise it will just look like a sweater that's not been very well looked after.

There's a good deal of crossover between the sweat shirt and its short-sleeved cousin, however. The main similarity is that because they are both made from jersey cotton, they are smooth enough to carry prints. Slogans, logos, corporate branding, football team insignia and all manner of imagery and text have made their way onto the fronts and backs of sweat shirts, making them a great tee alternative, particularly useful in colder climes. They're also remarkably comfortable; you can forget you're wearing one after a while. And finally, they're perfect for layering, again a boon for wearing when the weather's changeable or frosty. Some people layer their sweat shirts backwards, too, that is, under a tee shirt so the long sleeves hang out from the tee sleeves.

There's a rich history of sweat shirts to explore, if you are into that sort of thing. No doubt your local vintage clothing shop will have plenty of them to choose from. They come in every colour imaginable, and usually carry some sort of message whose relevance will either resonate or be completely lost in time. Whether you plan to actually sweat in one or whether they are the comfiest way to enjoy the slacker lifestyle, there's nothing quite like a sweat shirt to pull on and go about your day.

If you'd like to work as a registered nurse, you are probably looking for a career where you can help others and earn a competitive salary. Before you can realize those goals, however, you need to meet the requirements for employment.

One of the most important aspects to examine when selecting a career is the level of education required to enter the field. If you're thinking about becoming a registered nurse, there's no one answer for how many years of education it will take to prepare you for the career. In fact, there are several paths that you can take to become an RN, depending on your own experience and the field you'd like to work in.

    Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

The quickest way to become an RN is to obtain an associate degree in nursing, which takes an average of two years to complete. Like all nursing programs, this two-year degree should include classroom instruction in microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and other related courses, as well as supervised clinical work. Once you have this degree, you can work as a staff nurse in a hospital, ambulatory surgery center, a nursing home, or several other types of medical establishments.

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Some nurses find that they would like to advance their education further after they have been hired on as a staff nurse, and many employers provide tuition reimbursement if they go back to school to achieve a higher degree. Obtaining a bachelor's of science degree in nursing will not only bolster your knowledge, but it can prepare you for higher ranking administrative positions within your place of work. Plus, if you are looking into teaching or research positions, many of them require at least a BDN. Depending on your career goals, you might want to skip the associate's degree and head right into the four-year bachelor's degree program if you have the means.

If you already have a bachelor's degree in a different field and you're looking to switch to nursing, you have the option of getting on an accelerated track to a BSN because you have already met some of the educational requirements.

    Further Education

If you're interested in becoming a clinical nurse specialist (CNS), nurse midwife, nurse practitioner, or a nurse anesthesiologist, you'll need at least a master's degree. To pursue this degree, you'll need a BSN and at least a year of clinical experience before you apply. Master's degree programs generally take a year or two to complete.

    State Nurse Licensing

Keep in mind that to practice as a registered nurse, you'll need to obtain the appropriate license for your state. Not only do you need a degree, but you must pass a national examination, and some states require you to pass a background check and meet other requirements before you are issued a license. You will also need to renew your license from time to time, and some states require you to prove that you have completed continuing education.

If you live in Milwaukee and you're getting ready for surgery, you're likely nervous and a little worried about the procedure. It may come as a surprise to you to learn that one of the best ways to reduce your stress about the surgery is to properly prepare for it. The process of getting ready can ease you into the surgery, and some steps may even speed your recovery down the road.

Although every surgery will come with its own set of preparation instructions, there are a few general guidelines that you can follow.

    A Week before Surgery

When you're having non-emergency surgery, you'll have time to thoroughly discuss the procedure with your surgeon. In fact, you'll likely review your entire medical history with the doctor, giving you the chance to detail any allergies you have and allowing you to bring up concerns about the surgery. Depending on the type of surgery you're having, you may also need to undergo physical exams ahead of time to ensure that you're well enough to proceed with the operation. Plus, you'll likely meet up with your anesthesiologist to discuss the medications he or she will use during the surgery.

Even as you're heading to these appointments, filling out forms, and perhaps dealing with your insurance company, remember to arrange for a ride. If possible, find someone who can drive you to the hospital or surgery center on the day of the operation because you might not be entirely focused on the road as you get ready for your operation. More important than the ride there, however, is the ride home. Remember that you won't be able to drive yourself home after surgery because you're likely to have a cocktail of anesthetic drugs and painkillers coursing through your veins. Be sure that your driver is available for at least 24 hours after your surgery is expected to start because surgery and subsequent discharge from the medical facility might be delayed due to complications or other circumstances.

    The Day before Surgery

The day before your procedure, be sure to eat well and relax, but keep in mind any instructions that your doctor gives you. For example, many surgeries are conducted in the morning, and thus patients are required not to eat or drink anything after midnight the day of the surgery. It may seem simple enough to fast for all of six or seven hours, most of which will be spent sleeping, but remember that you can't drink any water (beyond a sip for taking prescriptions your doctor has previously approved for use before surgery) or even chew gum. You'll also have to brush your teeth without swallowing any liquid.

    The Day of Surgery

Rise and shine with a bath or shower because washing up before surgery can help reduce your chances of infection. Once you're done, dress in comfortable clothing and wear slippers or other enclosed slip-on shoes. Be sure to remove all jewelry before you leave, including any piercings and wedding bands, and leave them at home.

Once you arrive at the hospital, remember to relax and simply follow the instructions the nursing staff, surgeon, and anesthesiologist give you.

Selecting a medical specialty can be one of the most difficult decisions you'll make, and making such an important choice warrants careful consideration and extensive research. Keep in mind that even if you enter medical school with a specialty in mind, it isn't written in stone, so take the time to learn all you can before the end of your third year.

Here are a few pointers to consider as you go through the decision-making process.

Weigh pros and cons of specialties you are considering – Most medical students will leave school knowing that they have enormous student loans that need to be repaid, and this knowledge often steers their choice of career. Aiming for a specialty simply because it pays an admirable salary isn't advisable, especially if you aren't already passionate about the field. Making a wrong choice now could leave you miserable for years to come. Other medical students are drawn to specialties that don't require long hours, such as anesthesiology, but these areas often require night and weekend shifts that can prove draining to your mind and family life.

Think about the future – Most medical students make career-determining decisions about their medical specialties while still in their mid- to late-20s, and, like it or not, they often lack insight on where their lives will take them over the next few decades. Remember that goals that matter to you now – landing a position in a competitive field, heroically saving people's lives, or impressing acquaintances with your job title – might not matter so much to you in 10 years. By then, you might be more concerned with spending time with your family or avoiding the emotional strain that accompanies certain specialties.

Speak with people in the fields you're considering – You can read up on specialties all you want, but nothing is better than a first-hand account of a career path. Although everyone has different dispositions and life goals, someone in the field can give you a more thorough picture of the specialty, complete with perks and drawbacks. If the specialty sounds like it might be a good fit for you, look into shadowing a medical professional for a more complete picture of what the position entails. Taking these extra steps could help solidify your choice of a particular field or steer you away from an incompatible choice.

Remember that the setting makes a difference – Although you'll likely see a specialty practiced in an academic setting while you're in school, it's important to note that most professionals are involved in the community setting, which is a completely different animal. Keep the distinctions in mind as you make your choice.

Although following these tips can provide some much-needed assistance, they won't mean much if you aren't honest with yourself. When choosing your specialty, as with any other difficult life decision, you need to be able to ask yourself the tough questions and formulate truthful answers. Slowing down, keeping an open mind, and examining your priorities can make the difference between a terrible career choice and one that suits you to a T.

Your heart is one of your vital organs, so it's essential to keep it functioning properly. Unfortunately, many Americans aren't sure where to begin when they want to keep their hearts healthy. If you live in Cincinnati, and you've been wondering about the steps you can take to keep your cardiovascular system operating on all cylinders, here are a few tips:

Change your diet – Switching to healthier foods is one of the first changes doctors recommend to people at risk for heart disease. Changing eating habits can be particularly difficult, but what better motivation can you have than keeping your heart healthy? Start by packing your diet full of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats, and limit your consumption of cholesterol. You'll also want to keep an eye on the fats you are consuming because some are better than others. For example, using canola oil when pan-frying is much healthier for your heart than using a pat of butter.

Stop smoking – If there weren't already enough medical concerns to deter you from lighting up the next cigarette, here's one more. Even if you don't have other heart disease risk factors such as being overweight, eating fatty foods, or having high blood pressure, smoking increases your risk of contracting the disease. Even worse, smoking might hinder your other efforts to make your lifestyle more heart-friendly, hampering your breathing and decreasing your tolerance for exercise. If you can kick this habit, you'll enjoy a whole new lease on life.

Increase your physical activity – As people in Cincinnati and across the nation become increasingly more sedentary at work and home, they're putting their hearts at risk. Most people understand that exercise is beneficial to the heart and the body as a whole, but it can seem difficult to work in the time for physical activity. Fortunately, reducing your risk for heart disease can be as simple as spending 30 minutes a day exercising, whether you choose to walk, jog, or complete house chores, such as mowing the lawn or pulling weeds from the garden. Every time you choose to get off the couch, you're taking a step toward a healthier life!

Manage your stress – The correlation between heightened stress levels and heart issues is particularly well known, and for good reason. Stress can take a toll on the body in many physical and mental ways, but it's virtually impossible to avoid stress when leading a busy life. Perhaps you can work in a few minutes every day to relax and put the worries of the day on the back burner for a while. You can also reduce stress levels by cutting down on alcohol and caffeine consumption and by making sure to get in a good laugh during the day.

Although taking any of these steps will require some effort and dedication, the rewards are well worth any trouble. Not only can you make your heart healthier, but you can vastly improve your overall lifestyle by making you a more active, happier person.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

If you operate a small business or you're planning to start one, you should definitely take the time to think about your brand. Although your products or services should be the bedrock of your business, unless you can get customers or clients in the door, it's all for naught. Representing your company well in every applicable marketing facet is essential, and to implement a useful strategy, you have to decide what your business is, what it provides, and who it serves.

    Start Brainstorming

Have a brainstorming session to consider what you're actually offering to your customers. For example, your company might install new front doors for homes in the area, but you're selling homeowners much more than the doors themselves – you're offering them the security and aesthetic benefits that new doors can provide. Next, narrow your target audience by asking who you'll be conducting business with. Although common knowledge might state for you to aim for the widest possible audience, if you're planning to market your brand heavily on the Internet, you need to delve deeper, perhaps appealing to niche markets.

    Naming Your Company

Once you have a clearer idea of your company, you can assemble the components of your brand. Obviously, you want to start with what to call the business. It might sound simple to find a short and sweet name that reflects your company's goals and culture, but it can take some time and dedication. Most businesses either select a name that is related to the products or services it provides, while others opt for an interesting name that rolls off the tongue. Just remember to keep your brand in mind throughout the selection process.

When you have a good idea in mind, be sure to check for other businesses that might already use the name, as well as those who go by similar names that might confuse your customers.

    Developing a Logo

Perhaps the only part of the branding process that is more time consuming than the name selection is the logo development. You want a representation of your company that not only shows the customer who you are in a flash, but that is also scalable, meaning that it will look at home on everything from business cards and letterhead to billboards and Internet ads. To achieve this goal, try to keep your logo as simple as possible, especially when it comes to the graphics and font choices. Although a company mascot might look great on the side of a company vehicle, will it look just as nice scaled down for business cards? Also keep in mind that logos that involve too many colors might be expensive to reproduce, so keep the color scheme to two or three hues at first. Finicky fonts can cause problems too, as they are sometimes difficult to replicate on signs. Keep your logo bold and minimalist, and it's hard to go wrong.

    Test Your Brand

Before you ever try getting the brand off the ground, you need to test the name and logo with other people. Ask them to look at the name and logo and then describe the business it would belong to. The adjectives they use in their descriptions should let you know if your branding efforts are on the right track or if it's back to the drawing board.

Almost everyone will experience back pain at some point in their lives, with the majority suffering from lower backaches. If you live in Houston, and you're feeling the ache of a strained muscle, there are several methods you can try to return your back to its normal self.

    Short-Term Solutions

Anyone who has experienced a bout of severe back pain knows how tempting it can be to simply find a comfortable position and stay that way for as long as possible. The urge can be difficult to resist, but try to keep your back in motion rather than laying or sitting down for extended periods of time. Hitting the gym at the first onset of back pain probably isn't advisable, but as long as the pain isn't too intense, you should attempt to maintain your daily routine. Do some laundry, cook a meal, or go for a short walk – anything that will get the spine in motion without risking injury.

This advice applies to working, too. Many people spend most of their work days seated at their desks, remaining stationary for a large chunk of the day. This habit can increase your back pain, so be sure to stretch, shift position, or take a walk to the water cooler throughout the day to keep your body moving. Keep your back in mind during your daily commute, as well. It might be more difficult to shift your position, but you can adjust your seat and steering wheel to ensure that you aren't hunched over for the duration of the drive.

Remember that while you work toward a pain-free back, you might find it necessary to treat your aches with over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen. If you already take other medications, be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist about any interactions that might occur. You can also address your pain by icing your muscles, applying a heating pad, or alternating the two therapies.

    Long-Term Solutions

Many people who experience a bout of lower back pain are apt to see a recurrence, often brought on by the same factors that caused the back strain in the first place. First, you should examine any detrimental habits you have that might be contributing to your back pain. For example, if you smoke, you're putting your body at an increased risk for osteoporosis, which weakens bones and leaves them more prone to fractures. Women who wear high heels should also consider sporting some lower pumps that won't cause the lower back strain that 4-inch stilettos can.

Other chronic problems that can contribute to lower back pain include excess weight and weak muscles around the spine. To avert future back issues, you can work out to kill two birds with one stone by trimming down while strengthening your back muscles. Just be sure to use proper form in all your exercises and to take it slow. After all, jumping from a sedentary lifestyle to a very strenuous workout routine could do more harm than good for your back.

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most lucrative and numerous fields such that people decide to start a career in this field every single day, and for good reasons. If you want to find out more about this topic and see if a pharmaceutical career would be suitable for you, read below for all you need to know about pharmacy programs.

    • You can enroll in a college that offers pharmacy programs immediately after finishing high school. You also have the option of transferring from another college, provided that you have completed a few prerequisite courses with a curriculum similar to the ones followed at the college offering the pharmacy programs. The prerequisite courses revolve around topics such as chemistry, biology, calculus, and physics.

    • The application form for pharmacy programs can be easily downloaded online. Students interested in applying have to fill it out and send it via mail post to the college offering the program, before a predetermined a deadline. Each institution that offers pharmacy programs establishes its own requirements for admission, so make sure you study them thoroughly before applying. The most common requirement is having a certain GPA (Grade Point Average), usually above 2.5. Additionally, most colleges will also require students to pass an exam called the Pharmacy College Admissions Test, or PCAT for short, before they are allowed to enroll in the program.

    • A professional pharmacy program will award you the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) upon successful completion of the courses. The program lasts for six years and it is divided in two sections: the first two years include pre pharmacy training course, while the remaining four years focus on professional pharmaceutical training. Transfer students from other teaching institutions will be able to enroll directly in the second section of the program.

    • Throughout the six years of pharmacy programs, students will gain expertise on topics such as prescription and over-the-counter drugs, uses of medications, doses and times of administration, adverse reactions and side effects, as well as various mixtures of medicines. Pharmacy professionals will be able to work in drug stores, pharmacies, hospitals, medical facilities, department stores, or general merchandise stores.

    • After completing the program and receiving the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, students will be able to schedule their examination with the pharmacy licensing board in order to obtain their license and to be able to practice as a pharmacist. Passing this exam is an absolute requirement in all states of the US and it is called the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX).

    • Some pharmacy programs allow students in their sixth and final year multiple specialization options. Students can choose between Pharmacy Care, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Health Service Research.

These are the most important things anyone wishing to attend pharmacy programs should know about. Becoming a professional pharmacist can be a very rewarding career choice. So if you are not sure what path you want to take in life, make sure you give this option some consideration; it might just be exactly what you are looking for.
