Engineered wood is not familiar to everyone. It is a type of wood that consists of different kinds of woods. There are layers that make up engineered wood, which are the ply and wear layer. The wear layer is the layer that is exposed on the surface. The ply layer consists of different kinds of wood. Most homeowners are still skeptical about engineered woods, but nevertheless, these are just as good as solid wood flooring. In fact, they are better for your house.

    Features

There a few reasons why the engineered woods are gaining their fame in floorboard usage. The first is the price difference between engineered wood flooring and solid wood flooring. The former costs less to manufacture. In spite of the low prices at which it is offered in the market, engineered wood can better withstand moisture and temperature changes when compared to solid wood floors. Another reason is the strength of the wear layer of engineered wood flooring. This layer can be sanded up to 5 times, which is cost-efficient. Lastly, there is an option to use engineered hardwood to be attached directly on top of concrete surfaces or existing hardwood floorboards. This feature is extremely useful for floor service providers such as a flooring team company.

    Myths

There are a few myths that are told regarding engineered hardwoods. Some say that they are "fake" wood. This is not true. In fact, because of the different layers that make up engineered woods, there is an option for manufacturers to combine all kinds of wood types together to make strong yet lightweight floor boards. These are some of the best kinds of floorboards.

Another myth that exists is that refinishing engineered wood floors is impossible or a bad choice to make. It is not impossible, but extremely hard. The nature of engineered floorboards requires different methods of refinishing. Most of the time, professional help is required when homeowners are thinking of refinishing engineered wood floors.

    Expert Floor Service

A flooring team company is one of the few companies that provide expert flooring services. They are able to service all kinds of floors. They will provide homeowners in making the right decisions when it comes to refinishing engineered floors. Every homeowner is faced with the decision to sand floorboards' surfaces or replace the floorboards.

Sanding and floorboard replacement will require expert care. No matter how many DIY reading materials and video guides a homeowner might watch, he/she will still not be able to match the quality of floor sanding services provided by experts. Sanding requires evenness. This will be very difficult for homeowners who are only sanding for the first time – not to mention the vast area they will have to sand. Engineered wood floors require less sanding because they are much more durable, so homeowners may overdo the sanding and waste the wear layer. The same applies to floorboard replacement; it is very difficult.

Refinishing engineered wood floors should be left to professionals as the quality of your floors is crucial to your home's safety and beauty.

Speech pathology, sometimes referred to as speech language pathology, is a field of medicine that deals with the process of diagnosing and treating of speech disorders and defects. If you would like to find out more about this fascinating topic, read below for a few things you may not know about speech pathology.

What Does Speech Pathology Consist Of?

Speech pathology is used to evaluate patients with speech, voice, and language disorders and provide them with rehabilitation methods that can help them fix their impairments. This field of medicine is reserved for those patients for whom medical or surgical treatments cannot provide any solutions.

In general, prior to attending correction therapy, patients will have to undergo an assessment process that will determine their current condition and will set the foundation for the treatment and management. The speech therapist will evaluate the patient's speech, cognition, language, and swallowing, using various tests and instruments.

Following this evaluation, the therapist will be able to come to an official diagnosis and establish a treatment. Typically, speech pathology therapy consists of one-on-one sessions between the patient and the therapist, which are conduct at least once a week. If the condition is more serious, more than one weekly session may be required.

    Who Needs Speech Pathology?

The list of patients who would benefit from speech pathology is quite vast. In infants, the conditions requiring such therapy may be as mild as lisps or as severe as autism. Other medical conditions, particular to children and infants, which would benefit from speech therapy, include various genetic disorders which also affect speech, such as a cleft palate or Down syndrome, the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), hearing impairments, dyslexia, or language delays.

Although most speech pathology patients are children and infants, there are situations where adults also need this type of treatment. Speech impairments which can be corrected in adults occur in various medical conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and various cancers located in the throat, neck, or head.

Where to Find a Speech Pathology Professional?

For anyone looking for a speech pathology provider there are many options to choose from. All major public and private hospitals have this type of services within their facilities. Some speech pathologists work independently, from their own private practice, so you can look for one that is located near you.

Some schools, universities, or colleges also employ the services of speech pathology professionals and students who are enrolled in those institutions can benefit from appropriate treatment and rehabilitation. Other places where you could find a professional working in this field include nursing facilities, hospices, or long term care facilities.

These are the most important things anyone should know when it comes to speech pathology. This is a very important branch of medicine which deals with certain categories of patients who not find any relief by pursuing other medical options. If you, or anyone else in your family, has a speech or language impairment, make sure you take the information provided in this article into account and try to find the help you need.

There's a slow erosion of coverage for local news and even local gossip these days. On one hand, the big news sources can't possibly provide coverage for every single local location so they have become consolidators of nationwide or international news which works very well. On the other hand, the local news providers have seen a lot of their revenue disappear (think local papers) and they are scaling back the coverage they provide for local news. A big function of these local news providers is to filter and more importantly, vet information that they come across to check facts, validity, etc of what they turn around and provide to the public. So how does the Zipper address the truthfulness of what is provided in the system. Glad you ask and we feel, given the constraints of the too big to cover and too small to cover issues above, the community policed option of the Zipper is the only real answer to great and extensive local news coverage.

Let's say you come across a post in the Zipper that you know is incorrect. Maybe you're working on a political campaign and you see a post showing that your candidate accepted contributions from a certain questionable source. You know (since you're in charge of campaign contributions) that this is not the case. It's not uncommon with campaigns, even before the age of the internet and hyper communication, for such misleading stories to be put out there in the public but the internet does speed up the process and potential damage from such stories. Just to make sure, you confirm with your candidate to make sure there was no secret, back door deal with the source in question and the answer is a resounding "No". Okay. So what do you do now?

There are two built-in mechanisms in the Zipper to address incorrect information very quickly. The first is the Thumbs. Next to any Zip post or re-zip, you will see a thumb's up on the left and a thumb's down on the right with a number next to each. This is your quick fire way to say that a Zip is incorrect, inappropriate, solicitation, boring, or just plain annoying. Too many of these thumb's downs and the message will start to drop off the radar. However, you're not the only vote (or voter) in town and if a lot of people are confirming it (the Thumb's Up), it's going to stay around and get traction. The more people that vote, the more sure you can be of the Thumbs as a rough litmus test for accuracy of a given Zip local news or local gossip post. There's another step which goes even further. The Rezip.

If you click on an actual message, you'll bring up the full message and the Rezips or responses to the original message. This is important since other people may have corroborating or contradictory information. You would fall into the second camp and post a Zip with a solid statement that the source did not provide funding and you establish your position in the campaign to validate your comment. You can comment in the rezip and even create a new Zip to establish your train of thought. In the battle of ideas and opinions, the Zipper is the ultimate tool to level the playing field and get to the truth surrounding all local news and local gossip items in real time. Keep in mind that just because the Zip is online, it doesn't preclude you from local, State, and Federal laws surrounding slander, libel, and fraud. Play by the rules and we can all enjoy the benefits of this theatre of ideas.

As licensed insurance agents, we get calls daily from parents (all over the country) who are enquiring about California health insurance for their son or daughter. There's always a comment during the conversation reflecting the parent's frustration with their kid not appreciating the need for health insurance. So that's a big question...the Health Exchanges are predicated on bringing in the young Californians in order to succeed. Will they enroll? Will they join in enough numbers to make it all work? That's the real question. Let's look at why it's important and what the numbers tell us.

Guaranteed issue and health insurance mandates

There's a reason why the young need to join. On average, the young are healthier (health expenses double with each decade of a person's life with a bump during pregnancy years). There are two major changes to the California health insurance market as a result of health reform. Guaranteed issue is the big one and it means that a person cannot be declined due to health status or history. This is great news for the roughly 20% of applicants that get declined due to health but there's another key requirement in order to make this work. Everyone (or almost everyone) needs to share the risks. You need lots of healthy people to offset the few very unhealthy with expensive claims. Enter the young! You need lots if not most of them enroll. Now young people (especially men) are notoriously more risk tolerant. On their own, most of them might choose to spend health insurance premiums somewhere else. That's where the mandate comes into play.

Penalty for not buying California health insurance

The mandate is composed of a stick and a carrot. The stick is a penalty for not buying health insurance and the carrot is in the form of subsidies based on income levels. Almost everyone is required to buy health insurance and these measures work towards that aim. This also applies to most young people. The real question is whether the stick is big enough to overcome young people's inherent apathy towards purchasing health insurance. Great question and until we actually roll out Jan 1st, the best anyone can do is guestimate. We can look at it from the point of view a young person since we're now starting to see some rough numbers. So here we go!

Young people's premium and penalty comparison

The penalty for most young people in the first year will probably be 1% of their annual income. The subsidy is also based on income with pretty substantial subsidies up to 400% of the federal poverty level. Let's take a few typical examples based on different income levels. We'll assume a premium of $250/monthly for the Silver California Exchange plan.

Situation 1. 25 year old making $25K annually. In this case the penalty for not purchasing health insurance in California would be $250/annually. The annual premium amount is $3K. So $250 versus $3000. This person however, would qualify for a subsidy (400% of poverty is about $43K). That annual premium might come down to $600/annually or $50/monthly. So now we're looking at $250 in penalty versus $600 in premium. That's not a bad trade off and logic tells us that most young people would take this trade-off. Logic doesn't always apply with 25 year olds (we've all been there) and there will still be less participants than the drafters originally planned on. We only say this because we speak with the potential demographic (or their parents to be exact) daily and they don't exactly see the value of health insurance. Put it this way, they don't want cheap insurance...they want free insurance. The only way to get free in the reform bill is if you make less than 138% of the Federal Poverty Level. What about a young person that makes more?

Situation 2. 25 year old making $50K. This is going to be tricky. There will be no subsidy at that level of income and the premium is still $3K annually. It's going to be tough to convince a 25 year old making $4K monthly to spend $250 on premium based on our experience even with the constant badgering of mom.

Why it's so important that the young enroll in the California health exchange

A young person with very significant medical expenses or who is expecting one-off large expenses (knee repair for example) will get the coverage for sure. We need lots of healthy young people to not only offset this group but the older and more medically expensive people who will also enroll. We're concerned only because we actually speak to people daily in this situation and we know their view on health insurance. It will be a tough sell and ultimately, the expectations will likely be revised downward after the initial roll-out.

ACCA F4 tackles the basic guidelines of financial accounting, auditing and taxation. ACCA F4is concerned with the understanding of the legal system, particularly laws relating to the business. However, it should be remembered that ACCA F4 is a law exam for accountants and not for lawyers. It is intended for accountants' reference so that they may recognize special situations where legal advice should be sought. The exam is not designed to expect the participants to know every aspect of the law by hand; instead it aims to develop well-informed accountants who follow the boundaries of the law.

    Syllabus of ACCA F4

Essential elements of the legal system

Basic law concepts are tackled in the syllabus including the definition of law and how the government administers its powers. It also covers the difference between criminal and civil law, civil law and common law, and between private and public law. Most business laws are related to civil laws which cover the law that protects the duties and rights of person to each other.

    Contract

A contract is an agreement that is legally binding to both parties. The law on obligations and contract is an essential part of ACCA F4 which focuses on the requirements for a document to be legally binding, what the valid contracts are, under which set of circumstances are these contracts breached and what possible remedies are available to the injured party.

    Tort

The basis of tort lies in the duty of all people not to harm others. The negligence of tort will negatively impact individuals, professionals and businesses. It is therefore important to know and understand the limit of a person under the law. Identifying such circumstances which breaches the duty of tort is helpful in knowing when to bring the case to court.

    Employment law

Both employees and employers have duties. In ACCA F4, it is important for an accountant to know these duties since most misunderstandings occur in not fully understanding the contents of these contracts.

Formation and consolidation of business organizations

This study covers the various legal forms of business and their main distinctions. The difference between a natural person and legal person, an entity that is created by the law, should be emphasized in the study. The law of agency is an important concept since it tackles the duties and responsibilities of partners and directors who can act as agents.

    Capital and financing companies

It is important to know the minimum required legal capital of a certain type of business. The shareholder's responsibility to provide the company with necessary funds is tackled in ACCA F4. The rules that regulate appointment, disqualification, remuneration and the powers of the directors are clearly defined in the syllabus. Since most conflicts arise from not knowing these rules, it is important to fully understand its boundaries.

    Legal implications

When companies are at the point of insolvency, it is helpful to know certain procedures that will help the company acquire a 'breathing space' while resolving the problem. However, there are also instances where the business can no longer be saved regardless if the company has enough funds or not.

Taxation is the main topic for ACCA F6. Accountants are introduced to the concepts of the tax system. Taxation requires an individual to possess strong research skills and be able to adapt to the constant changing of rules and regulations. Tax accountants should also have a good interpersonal skill that can help dealing with clients without a tax background. In order to maintain client confidence, a person must be able to simplify complex taxation problems.

    Taxation includes:

    Internal Revenue Code

The internal revenue code acts as a guideline in the accounting for individual and corporate tax returns. It is a complex document that contains over 3.7 million words and it changes frequently. Every law that is passed on congress can have an effect on the internal revenue code. A tax accountant is deemed to be knowledgeable of these changes and have to continually learn the code.

    Financial Accounting

ACCA F6 also includes some aspect of financial accounting since tax accountants need financial reports in order to compute for tax returns. Many companies use different valuation methods in reporting their tax, so it is important to be knowledgeable in the different methods used.

    General business Knowledge

A tax accountant's job does not end with providing the company with tax returns. Often, clients will also ask for the accountant's advice on a year-round tax planning. It is therefore important to be able to understand the consequences of the recommendations given.

    Syllabus

There are 8 areas in ACCA F6 syllabus

    The tax system

This area tackles the basic question of taxation and its function and purpose in the modern economy. There are also different types of taxes which can be implemented on an individual or a corporation. The principal source of revenue is important in the determination of tax return. Income tax liabilities

Income tax for both employees and employers are a part of ACCA F6, as well as the determination of tax for self-employed individuals. Property and investments are also a source of tax along with the acquisition of inheritance. Tax accountants must be familiar with these concepts.

    Corporation tax liabilities

The scope of corporation tax is different from individual tax so the study of which is separated. Tax accountants need to determine the taxable amount and the computation of corporation tax liability. It is also important to know how the corporate structure affects the computation of tax since a partnership and a corporation are subjected to different tax.

    Chargeable gains

Chargeable gains in ACCA F6 includes the taxation of capital gains, the computation of gains and losses in selling immovable and movable property, disposal of shares of stocks and other securities and the exemptions that the business can avail of.

    Inheritance tax

Inheritance tax in ACCA F6 includes the computation of transfer tax and the liabilities arising from chargeable lifetime transfers.

    National Issuance contributions

This area focuses on the scope of national insurance and the different contributions for employed persons.

    Value added tax

These include the scope, requirements, computation and effects of value added tax.

ACCA F3 covers financial accounting. Its main focus is the preparation of financial statements that summarize the company's financial performance over a period of time. These statements are generally prepared quarterly and annually and adhere to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principle. Information derived from financial accounting is used by external parties such as creditors, investors and government authorities.

    ACCA F3 Syllabus

    Financial reporting

Financial reporting includes financial statements for external reporting. The format for these statements is designed to follow the regulatory framework of accounting standards. It is important to learn the purpose and context of financial reporting. Individuals taking ACCA F3 will also learn the qualitative traits of financial information.

Financial reporting in ACCA F3includes the drafting of trial balance and identifying errors, bank reconciliation and suspense accounts. The preparation of statement of financial position, income statements and statements of comprehensive income is also included in the syllabus. The proper disclosure of notes and after events reporting follows the financial statement topics then students will learn how to prepare statement of cash flows. Finally, the preparation of consolidated cash flow is finalized by putting together these individual financial statements.

    Double-entry

Double entry is a practice that increases the chance of the books to be balanced by entering a single transaction twice, one on the debit and one on the credit side. Double entry principles include the maintenance of records and accounting information. Double entryrefers to the recording of different transactions and events from sales to purchases.

    Interpretation of financial statements

Knowing what the effect of the data acquired in the financial statements to the company is also a part of ACCA F3. Interpretation of these statements will lead to understanding the different financial ratios used in the business. Using these tools, it will be easier for the accountant to interpret and deliver useful information tooutside entities which can help them formulate decisions.

    Why is financial accounting important?

The main distinction of ACCA F3 or financial accounting with the other fields of accountancy is that it is generally concerned with the reports that will be scrutinized by people who are not regularly associated with the company but have an interest in the financial reports of the entity. This will be the statements that the company will have to show to potential investors. The financial condition of the business is a major concern for these investors, thus having a good financial statement is important in order to gain capital. The operating results can also be reflected in the balance sheet which shows the sales, expanses as well as the profits and losses. Using the income statement, outside entities will be able to evaluate the company's past performance and predict future performance. The statement of cash flow will report the profits reported that do not include the non-cash elements. This is important for investors since cash flow from every source will affect their investment. The shareholder's equity will show the changes the equity component.

ACCA F3 is a two hour exam that comprises fifty 2 questions. An applicant must get at least 50% to pass the examination.

The ACCA P3 module falls under ACCA's Professional (P) Level Essentials Module, and it tackles various techniques, strategies, and processes that are imperative in business analysis. It deals with the analyzation of organisations and the formulation of business plans for them. To better understand the concepts in the ACCA P3 paper, it would greatly help if topics from the F5 (Performance Management) paper are thoroughly understood.

Objectives of the ACCA P3 Syllabus

ACCA's Business Analysis Module is all about strategies and its applications to various processes in the work environment. Here, students will learn how to apply theoretical concepts and principles in making professional decisions. In addition, they will also learn about information technology and knowledge systems and how these things can help in overseeing business processes, projects, and human resources. By the end of the module, students are expected to have the confidence in deciding which actions should best be taken by their future parent company.

Some of the topics that will be covered by the ACCA P3 paper are: Strategic action, technology solutions, project management, and quality initiatives.

    ACCA P3 Past Papers

Past papers for the Business Analysis Module are available at ACCA's official website. These were the actual examinations taken by students during the previous years. The website has questions and answers from December 2007 to December 2012, so those who are planning to take the exam soon may choose to download it.

    The P3 Examination

The P3 examination is divided into two parts, Parts A and B, which are both 50% of the grade. Part A is composed of one case study and the information included is usually 3 to 4 pages long. Part B requires the examinee to answer two out of three 25-mark questions. It is quite similar to Part A because it also deals with case studies, but the case background and the information provided are much shorter.

    The Expected Answer

In order to pass the ACCA P3 paper, it is important for students to know what the examiner looks for in their answers. For the P3 module, the examiner would like to see how well the student can apply his or her knowledge of principles and frameworks to the given scenario. In addition, the examiner would also like to see if the student has anything else to offer aside from the theories and concepts s/he learned in class.

Passing Rates for ACCA P3 Module

The average passing rate for the P3 module since December 2007 is 49.82%. The best way to be included in the passers list is of course, to study hard and practise answering questions regularly. Students who pass the P3 paper are comfortable dealing with case studies, so being familiar with various cases will certainly help examinees be more confident by the time they take the P3 exam.

Reviewing for the ACCA P3 Examinations

Students who are planning to take the ACCA P3 examinations may be feel a bit anxious because of the long questions. The good thing is, there are many reviewers and past papers available on ACCA's website. ACCA-affiliated websites also have review materials as well. OpenTuition has links to ACCA's past papers, and it also has P3 sample questions that are regularly updated whenever there are revision kits. They also post links to recommended readings. To know the schedule for the P3 examinations for this year, always check ACCA's website for updates.

The ACCA P4 Paper belongs to the Professional (P) Level Options Module, which means taking this exam is not mandatory but is recommended if the student is confident with his knowledge of this topic. Most of the topics from this module were discussed in Paper F9: Financial Management. It is basically a continuation of F9, but newer and more complex topics are included in its syllabus. As a result, the questions are loaded with more information which would require students to deal with more computations and analyses.

Objectives of the ACCA P4 Syllabus

This paper aims to discuss how financial executives and advisors can apply their skills and expertise when it comes to their organisation's finances. Because much of the topics in this module were already discussed in F9: Financial Management, this module will dwell on the application of the methods, processes, and concepts that were acquired during Module F9. Overall, the goal of the P4 Paper is to help students be more confident with making decisions and recommendations that are related to the financial management of their future company.

Some of the topics that will be discussed in the ACCA P4 Paper are: Advanced investment appraisal, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reconstruction, and special topics in finance and its management.

    ACCA P4 Past Papers

ACCA's official website has the pilot question papers and the past exam papers from December 2007 to December 2012. Aside from the Global papers, they have also included questions and answers from Singapore's exams from December 2007 to June 2010. The website has also been updated to include the latest P4 paper taken in June 2013.

    The P4 Examination

The P4 exam has two parts. Part A requires the examinee to answer two questions worth 30 marks each (Part A is 60% of the total exam). These two questions are case studies with focus on numbers and analyses. The student will be asked to discuss his or her findings and share his or her comments and recommendations on the case. Part B, on the other hand, gives the student a choice to answer two out of three questions worth 20 marks each (Part B makes up 40% of the exam). The questions will focus on discussion and analysis, while one question will be long and will require comprehensive answers.

    The Expected Answer

The P4 Module revolves around the interpretation of the information at hand. What makes it a bit difficult is deciding which factors are more important and how to apply the methods learned in class to solve the case. Those who are planning to take the P4 exam must be comfortable with numbers, and must understand the theories and techniques taught in class thoroughly. Practising the past papers will greatly help, and it is also worth noting that usually, there is no "one correct answer" in the P4 exam questions. It doesn't matter if answers differ from the model answer. The correctness of the examinee's answer will be based on his or her assumptions, provided that these are logical and well-stated in the exam.

The ACCA P5 Paper is part of the Professional (P) Level Options Module, and it revolves around proper business management for better work performance. Most of the concepts that will be discussed in P5 were already introduced in F2: Management Accounting and F5: Performance Management. With P5: Advanced Performance Management, calculations and analyses are not necessarily more complicated, but instead, they are examined from a managerial perspective. This paper aims to show the problems encountered in terms of measuring the performance of various managements.

Since taking this exam is optional, it is advisable that students have good knowledge of the concepts discussed in the F2 and F5 modules to fully understand the techniques and methods that will be tackled in P5.

Objectives of the ACCA P5 Syllabus

The aim of the ACCA P5 Module is to help students exercise their skills and knowledge in the context of various business endeavours. They will also learn how to apply judgment when it comes to dealing with serious management matters. In addition, the P5 module will also discuss topics that will enable students to know how to evaluate an organisation's performance together with its strategic development.

Some topics included in the P5 Paper are: strategic planning, performance measurement systems, performance evaluation, and current developments regarding performance management.

    ACCA P5 Past Papers

ACCA's official website includes P5 Pilot Papers from December 2012 and June 2013. They also have questions and answers from the December 2007 up to the December 2012 examinations. These were the actual exams taken by students during those times, so downloading them from the site is certainly advisable to make students more confident for the upcoming exams. The site has also been updated to include the questions from the June 2013 exam.

    The P5 Examination

The P5 examination is divided into two parts, Parts A and B. Part A has two compulsory questions worth 60% of the whole exam. Familiarity with F5 topics is highly recommended because students will be dealing with performance measures. Part B, on the other hand, requires the examinee to answer two out of the three questions worth 20 marks each, so this will make up 40% of the exam. To be able to answer this exam with best results, examinees must think of themselves as finance directors rather than accounts assistants.

    Answering the P5 Exam

In answering the P5 exam, students must be able to deal with numbers and data analyses to come up with good assessments on the case studies. However, limited time is given to read through the questions so it is extremely important to practise with past papers to be comfortable and confident during the actual exam.

Passing Rates for ACCA P5 Module

The average passing rate for the ACCA P5 Module is 37.00% since December 2007. Those who wish to be part of the small percentage of passers should make sure that they study really hard for the P5 examinations. The good thing is, there are many study materials out there that can help them achieve that.

Reviewing for the ACCA P5 Examinations

Taking the ACCA P5 exam is not compulsory, so those who have decided to take it must make sure they have adequate background on measuring performances in business. ACCA's official website gives people access to P5 past papers, and it also offers study guides and technical articles. They have also updated their website to include the latest questions from the June 2013 exam. OpenTuition's website, on the other hand, offers valuable lecture notes for the upcoming examinations.

Arabic is among the most difficult languages to learn today, notwithstanding that there are more than 200 million people who speak and write Arabic as their first language. But with such difficulty comes the high demand for translation. Many believe that Arabic translation is very difficult to accomplish for several reasons:

    • Professionals believe the Arabic language is technically underdeveloped. This means that Arabic does not its own equivalent of words in foreign languages when it comes to polishing and development. In today's era, there are words that are given additional meaning or phrases that are coined to describe a situation, occurrence, condition or anything else. This challenge is especially true when modern business or technology is involved in Arabic translations.

    • Lack of technological advances. One reason why Arabic is not easy to translate is the lack of developments in technology. Thus, the culture of Arab has not integrated developments in technology. There is no impact of such development in its culture. Translation into Arabic becomes hard because other languages, especially, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese are rich and updated in development.

One example of this challenge for Arabic translators is translating the English words "management" and "administration". In Arabic language, only one word is used to refer to both English words—"Idara." Other examples are the words "compute" and "calculate," which, although have similar meanings, have different applications depending on the purpose. In Arabic, these two words are translated into "hisaab."

But, some translators and native speakers confess that while it is hard to translate calculate and compute in Arabic, the translators have the option of customizing terms to accurately convey the exact meaning.

    • There is lack of research in Arabic language that could have helped in developing software to make translating Arabic easier. For example, today, there is no software or resource to check the correct spelling and grammar in Arabic. There are no search engines and Optical Character Reader (OCR) available for assistance. In other words, the translators are on their own in translating texts and documents. They follow their instincts because there are no standards.

    Understanding the Arabic Language

Arabic is used mostly in Muslim countries. Besides the 200 million native speakers, there is an additional 20 million people who speak Arabic as their second language. It belongs to the same language family with Hebrew and Aramaic do. It is also the largest of the Semitic language.

The Arabic language has several dialects depending on which region the Arabs belong to. However, regardless of those dialects, every Arab country has a literary Arabic, which is used in Qur'an, and which is considered to be the genuine Arabic language. Most regional dialects are mutually comprehensible and the speakers acknowledge the standard form of Arabic so they all understand the local variations of Arabic.

In doing translations in Arabic, the translators need to be fluent in different variations of the language and in the foreign language to which the document or file is to be translated. Since it is clear that Arabic translation is not easy and there are no resources to take advantage of, the native speakers make the most qualified translators. People who speak Arabic as their second language may also be good as Arabic translators.

    Importance of Arabic Translations

Most if not all Arab nations are rich in natural resources and economy. Many of these nations are financial and employment hubs. Doing business is the number one reason why investors flock in the Arab world. People who are looking for greener pasture may also consider the employment opportunities in these countries.

While Arabic literacy is not a requirement in employment, although it boosts the application and compensation benefits, the business sector cannot avoid the Arabic language. In order to penetrate the local market, the products and all other manuscripts, documents, texts, and descriptions should undergo Arabic translation.

Arabic translation is the delicate process of translating documents or texts from Arabic language into another, whether English, French, Chinese or Spanish, and vice-versa. Generally, it involves knowledge and skills in linguistics. Students of linguistics may land employment in various industries that cater to different cultures, races, and people. While it does not always require a bachelor's degree in Arabic language, a person with such degree has an edge over the other applicants.

    Responsibilities Involved in Translating Arabic

The responsibilities of an Arabic translator are very few. In each translation job, the translator may do the following:

    • Translating documents whether published online or through printing press

    • Translating non-text files like audio and video

    • Interpreting files whether documents or non-documents

    • Teaching Arabic language

    • Working with government agencies, and sometimes, with the military

Among the types of Arabic translations, the translation of documents is the most common and has high demands. The documents may take the form of:

    • Legal

    • Medical

    • Educational

    • Business

    • Finance and marketing

    • Literature such as books, novels, plays and dramas

    • Scripts in movies and shows

    • Official and government documents

    • Personal

    • Technical

    • Publications

    • Web content

Arabic translation is so vast a task. In educational institutions, translators may be tasked to translate textbooks, lectures, and manuscripts for any academic purposes. If the translations occur in any government or for the government, the objective is more inclined on intelligence or matters of anti-terrorism. Translation is not a simple job. It needs fluency in the language, understanding of cultures between the Arabs and people to whose language the translation is to be done.

Fluency in Arabic is crucial, and it does not only require eloquence in one language, but the two languages involved. The rules of grammar in Arabic may not be the same in other languages. The structure or pattern used in Arabic sentences may be different in another, and vice versa. There are also terminologies, jargons, expressions, and figurative speech in one language that do not exist in another. Also, there might be a chance that Arabic translators find certain words exist in two languages, but definitions are different. Translators need to have vast vocabularies in languages, and should be aware of different applications of those words.

The consideration of differences in cultures is integrated in Arabic translation and all other translation works because there is the rule never to offend the audience or readers of newly translated works. It is to be expected that in some translation works, the existence of colloquial terms is encountered. Most of the time, the colloquial terms are created to refer to certain attitudes, traits, or situations. Understanding of what and how these terms mean and used may lead to quality Arabic translations.

Another form of translation is interpretation. The works of interpreters are the same as translators. The only difference is spontaneity. Interpreters work on real time and actual event like interviews, official and courtesy visits of diplomats and government officials, seminars and conference, lectures, and many others. Interpreters orally translate statements from one language to another, or in this case, from Arabic to other languages, and do not write the translations.

In spontaneous oral translation into Arabic, the linguists must have mastery of two languages. The job is more delicate because there is no room for committing errors, which can have devastating impact to the audience. Unlike written translations in Arabic, which translators are afforded time to verify and proofread their works, the oral translation does not have the chance to rectify mistranslated statements. Or if there is, the reputation of the translator and the people behind the event is tainted.

Will you be at the Grand Canyon for the July 4th holiday? If your plans include the National Park and you're interested in a bus tour, I urge you to buy your tickets now - holiday bus tours typically sell out.

Tours leave every morning from Phoenix and Las Vegas, and they're running on their regular schedules for the July 4th holiday. No matter which one you take, Grand Canyon bus tours are fun, full-day adventures.

    Phoenix Departures

Travelers coming from Arizona's Valley of the Sun (Phoenix and the surrounding area) will visit the South Rim. Phoenix folks who want to do the West Rim will need to rent a car because only Vegas bus tours head there.

Most South Rim bus tours make a stop at Sedona, known for its juniper pines and beautiful red-rock buttes. From Sedona you'll carry on until you reach the National Park. Once you arrive, you'll have up to three hours to explore the highlights. You'll wrap up at Bright Angel Lodge (the home of the Park's best food!), the focal point of Grand Canyon Village.

    Vegas Departures

Vegas-based travelers are lucky; they can choose to visit either the South Rim or the West. Both rims have their advantages, but I usually suggest the South Rim for travelers looking for spectacular natural beauty; pick the West Rim if you want excitement and adventure.

Tours to both rims drive by majestic Hoover Dam and scenic Lake Mead before reaching their destination. The drive to the South Rim takes 5 ½ hours (it's 270 miles from Vegas); the West Rim is much closer (120 miles) and the trip there takes about 2 ½ hours.

People bound for the West Rim can choose a basic tour or upgrade to a deluxe ("combo") package. The basic tour heads straight for the rim. Once you arrive, you'll hop off your bus and have up to three hours to explore the highlights.

The basic version is a great experience, but I suggest booking a deluxe package if you can swing it. My personal favorite (and the most popular package at this rim) is the one that includes a chopper landing on the bottom, a float trip down the Colorado, and VIP access to the fabulous Grand Canyon Skywalk. What a tour!

South Rim bus trips are also very popular with Vegas travelers. Most give you up to three hours inside the Park, which you can use to stroll through Grand Canyon Village and see the Rim's other points of interest.

    Book Your Seats Quickly

The July 4th holiday is one of the Park's busiest times of the year. That's why I suggest booking your Grand Canyon bus tour as soon as you can. At a minimum, book at least a week ahead of the tour date you want.

Even though Independence Day is a major holiday, deals are still available on Grand Canyon bus tours. You'll find the best prices on the tour company's website (don't bother with online travel brokers like Priceline, Viator or Expedia – they'll charge you more). You'll need to complete your purchase on the tour company's site in order to qualify for the super Internet discount.

    Wrapping Up

The weather at the Park is always beautiful in early July, and the views are terrific. I'm expecting it to be busy, so book your tour well in advance. The buses are running on their regular schedules despite the holiday. People coming from Phoenix will do the South Rim, while Vegas-based travelers can choose between the South and West Rims. Finally, book your seats online – you'll save a chunk of money!

As time goes on, having a healthy credit score is less and less of a luxury and more of a necessity. Unfortunately, for many of us, once mistakes have been made, it can be increasingly more difficult to know how to improve your situation. It is easy to get lost in the maze of red tape and legal speak that abounds in the financial industry. The Fair Credit Reporting Act was put in place with this in mind. Enacted in 1970, the FCRA seeks to provide balance in a system that makes it easy for potential and current creditors to track the habits of its clients. Especially if you already find yourself in a less than preferable condition, there are many tools at your disposal that should know about:

    Knowledge is power

The first and most important tool at your disposal is knowledge and according to the FCRA you have the right to know exactly what your report contains. Even better you have that information at your disposal for free. Each of the three major reporting agencies Equifax, TransUnion and Experian are required to provide a free report once every 12 months to every person in their records. You may retrieve this records either by writing to the companies or online at: http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com.

Second you have the right to know if you have passed over for credit and for what reasons or if any adverse actions were taken on your account you are required by law to be notified about what these reasons were.

    Action is key

If you do find that you have negative entries on your credit history or you have applied for credit only to receive a rejection status based on entries in your report you can fix it. The FCRA says you have the right to contest any entry on your report. After submitting your contention to the proper agencies they will have thirty days to respond to your dispute. They are required to investigate and alert the reporting agency. If the entry cannot be validated it must be removed.

    Timing is everything

We all make mistakes but the good news is, those mistakes fade with time. As your report gets older so does the relevancy of it's entries. A general rule is 7 years most items excluding bankruptcy which can stay on your report for 10 years. In some cases patience is all that you need to receive a higher score. Keep making good decisions and let your actions speak for themselves.

    Authorized access only

Your credit history is only accessible from authorized persons who can demonstrate a valid purpose behind seeing your history. This means that not just anyone can access your records without a valid reason.

The key to improving your credit score is to be proactive. Maintain records, keep current on your obligations and research your situation. By disputing inaccuracies and preventing any new negative entries your score will continue rise year after year. Using the tools available to you including those provided by the FCRA is the best favor you can do yourself or your credit score.

    Rating: R

    Length: 90 minutes

    Release date: June 21, 2013

    Directed by: Sofia Coppola

    Genre: Crime / Drama

    Stars: 3 out of 5

Based on actual events, "The Bling Ring" follows the story of a group of teenagers who rob celebrities' houses after tracking where they are via the Internet. The film is directed by Sofia Coppola, and it features a screenplay by Coppola and Nancy Jo Sales. It is based on a Vanity Fair article titled "The Suspect Wore Louboutins," which was also written by Sales.

Coppola's fifth feature film, "The Bling Ring" closely follows a group of characters who are not even remotely sympathetic. The four girls and one boy who are at the center of the film's action are only interested in fame, celebrities, and fashion. These passions are merged as the teens spend countless hours online tracking their favorite celebrities.

When they are sure the celebrities are out of the house, these fashion-obsessed robbers steal into their homes and essentially go shopping in their closets. While they are exploring the homes of well-known celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, these teens seem like warped versions of real people. Because of this fact, it could have been tempting for Coppola to make a satirical film, but luckily for audiences, she resisted that temptation.

Rather than making the film into a sensationalized version of a story that really only impacted a few people, Coppola created a film that encourages all people to look more closely at themselves and their trivial obsessions. The film tells the story of a small group of LA teens, but it does so in a way that may make moviegoers want to investigate their own lives a little bit more closely.

In 2008, when this group of teens was actually running from house to house stealing designer clothes, shoes, and jewelry, they managed to steal more than $3 million worth of stuff. Coppola's film does not necessarily condemn these teens for their actions. Instead, it offers a clear, almost journalistic, look at their behavior, and this perspective allows viewers to create their own opinions of the matter.

The group's escapades are not about taking from the rich and giving to the poor. They are much more complicated than that. Once these teens have walked away with their loot, they take pictures of themselves, which they post online, and in some cases, they even make love to the bling which they have stolen. At worst, this behavior is psychopathic, and at best, it is a reflection of a society that may need to refocus.

Although Coppola's direction may be responsible for much of the film's success, its actors also turn in excellent performances. The group of teens is led by Rebecca, played by Katie Chang. The daughter of Korean immigrants, Rebecca wants nothing more than to kidnap Paris Hilton's dog, which she sees as the perfect fashion accessory. Her friend Mark, played by Israel Broussard, has the tech savvy she needs, and he helps her to track celebrities online so that the group knows where to strike.

The group's most famous actor is Emma Watson of "Harry Potter" fame. The scenes with Watson are delightful, and she adds dimension to the film, which is not surprising to anyone who loved her as Hermione Granger. Her valley-girl accent is both well done and totally hilarious.

Watson plays Nicki, a wannabe actress who is incredibly narcissistic but very articulate. When Nicki is eventually caught, she tells the authorities that she has learned from her experience. This attempt at sidestepping the issue is something that she has learned from her mother, played by Leslie Mann, a hippie homeschooling mom, and the result is a deliciously funny scene. The film even has a role for Paris Hilton, whose possessions were stolen in real life by this gang, and many of the scenes were shot in Hilton's actual house.

"The Bling Ring" is funny, but it is too insightful to just be considered a simple comedy. It explores the idea of stars like Hilton who are famous for no real reason, but more importantly, it explores the motivations of the many other people who want to also be famous for no reason. It asks whether fame seekers are really seeking fame or whether they just want affection. As audiences watch Chang, Watson, and the film's other stars robe themselves in Lohan's clothes and run through Hilton's closets, they may stumble on their own answers to these questions.

Craig T. Nelson has had a long and successful Hollywood career that has spanned five decades. Born as Craig Richard Nelson in Spokane, Washington, on April 4, 1944, the actor grew up in the entertainment industry since both of his parents were very active in show business, with his father taking care of the business aspects and his mother being a professional dancer. Nelson's father died when he was still a young boy, so he was raised by his mother Vera on her own.

During his high school years, Nelson was an athletic phenomenon, excelling in golf, football, basketball, and baseball. His tall, muscular frame led many to believe that a sports scholarship to a top-level university would be inevitable, but Nelson's career took a very different path. Besides having talent on the sports field, Nelson was also an aspiring actor. Before he graduated from high school, Nelson received an acting scholarship from the University of Arizona, which he took up afterwards. Nelson did not stay in that school for long and later moved to Central Washington University.

In 1969, Nelson dropped out of college in order to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. Not long after moving to the Golden State, Nelson officially changed his middle name to avoid confusing it with another Craig Richard Nelson, who was already a well-known Hollywood actor. Nelson settled with the middle name Theodore but shortened it to the initial T when appearing on screen.

Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Nelson found work as a security guard at a soap factory. He wished to become a comedy writer, but he needed to secure a big break first. This came in 1970, when Nelson was hired as an intern writer for radio comedians Al Lohman and Roger Barkley and for the television series "The Tim Conway Show." These developments allowed Nelson to quit his job as a security guard and instead focus on performing as a stand-up comedian at numerous low-key gigs.

It was through contacts made from writing gigs that Nelson made his first forays into acting, starring in 1971's "The Return of Count Yorga." Many other small guest roles came up for him, most notably that in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Flesh Gordon." During the early 1970s, Nelson married Robin and had two kids with her, Tiffany and Christopher. With a young family to feed and small-time film roles not providing a solid income, Nelson and his family moved back to Spokane. While living in this city, he worked numerous jobs, such as a school janitor, carpenter, and surveyor.

After only a few years, Nelson's work dried up and his family had to rely on welfare and food stamps in order to get by. In 1978 the pressure finally took its toll on Nelson and his wife, with the pair choosing to get a divorce. This sudden life change freed Nelson up from taking care of his young family, so he chose to move back to Hollywood in order to pursue an acting career once again.

Nelson found success quickly upon his return, and he landed a role in the 1979 film "...And Justice for All," starring Al Pacino. The film proved to be a big success and was nominated for two Academy Awards as a result. Nelson's career blossomed after that, especially in 1982, when he starred as the lead role in the horror classic "Poltergeist," which was directed by Steven Spielberg. This role gave Nelson's career a real boost, with many offers for film and television available to him following this performance.

The 1980s was an extremely successful time for Nelson both professionally and personally. Nelson acted alongside Tom Cruise in "All the Right Moves" and Meryl Streep in "Silkwood," and in 1987 he remarried, this time to Doria Cook. A couple of years later, Nelson received an offer from ABC to play Haydon Fox in the television series "Coach." Nelson accepted the role, and the series ran for a total of eight seasons. During that time, Nelson won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

After "Coach" ended, Nelson starred as a police chief in "The District" for four seasons. In 2004, Nelson's career took a slight turn to voice acting, voicing the character of Mr. Incredible in the Disney hit "The Incredibles." In 2009 Nelson once again returned to the big screen, this time in comedy flick "The Proposal."

Having not appeared in a feature film since 2011 and with his advancing age, it is likely that Nelson will never act on screen again. Nelson has played the role of Zeek Braverman in the television series "Parenthood" in all its four seasons and is scheduled to return for a fifth season this summer.

Back stretches, yoga, and physical therapy are commonly prescribed treatments for back pain. Having a daily routine for back stretches can help ease some chronic back pain, and loosen up tense muscles. Similar to daily stretches, yoga also incorporates stretching the back but also adds a meditative aspect to the routine. Physical therapy helps patients regain strength, flexibility, and range of motion in their spines, as well as helping them to improve their overall mobility. Physical therapy also focuses on helping patients to develop new body mechanics and behaviors that may reduce pain in their backs or necks as they perform daily activities. For patients with chronic spine conditions, simple tasks like sitting at a computer or bending down to tie their shoes can be extremely uncomfortable and daily exercises, yoga, and physical therapy help to address these day-to-day challenges.

Stretching Exercises for Your Morning Routine

The easiest way to begin a daily routine of stretches for your back is to incorporate them into your morning schedule. You'll only need an extra 15 to 20 minutes every day, and the long-term benefits of stretching every morning can do a lot for you spinal pain. In the morning, there's no need to do anything fancy. The classic toe touch is a great place to begin your morning stretching regimen. Also, sit on the ground, put your legs forward, and reach for your toes. You want to hold these stretches for as long as you can, but don't push yourself. Your muscles are not warmed up early in the morning, so there's no need to over-exert yourself.

Begin Taking Some Afternoon Yoga Classes

After work, or during your lunch break, are two great times to practice some yoga. For the afternoon routine, you should dedicate a little more of your time to stretching, as your muscles are warmer and will benefit more from a longer routine. A yoga class will help you really loosen those back muscles while also teaching you breathing exercises as well. Sometimes, back pain is simply the result of too much stress combined with poor posture. Practicing some yoga during or after work may alleviate some of your stress, and loosen up the muscles that are causing your back pain.

    Consider Seeing a Physical Therapist

Seeing a physical therapist will help put you on a weekly or biweekly routine that forces you to pay attention to your spine health. Physical therapists are notorious for their abilities to put together successful and achievable treatment plans that will benefit your health for years to come. Even though you will not see immediate results for your back pain, you will begin the healing process. A physical therapist will have a variety of stretches and exercises that will treat your back pain in different ways. They will be able to offer new stretches to hit problem areas, and may drastically improve your overall mobility.

    Other Conservative Treatment Options

In addition to back exercises, yoga, and physical therapy, other conservative treatment options that your doctor may prescribe include over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs, hot or cold compresses, and low-impact cardiovascular exercise. Something as simple as walking for thirty minutes a day can drastically improve your back pain. However, it is important to stay in close communication with both your physician and your physical therapist throughout your treatment program so that you can all determine which treatments are the most effective. If at any point you experience severe pain while performing any type of exercise or stretch, stop immediately and contact your doctor or physical therapist.

Jesus was unpopular in his day. He was not the superstar many of us consider him to be now. He associated with and ministered to the prostitutes, tax collectors, criminals, and the poor. The wealthier Jews found Jesus contemptible and his followers detestable. Jesus served people without regard to their status. He did not engage in favoritism. It is safe to say that Jesus was not tolerant of the excuses and justifications made by the sinners of his day for their wrongdoings. However, after the Christ's departure from this world, his name was venerated for his compassion and kindness to the sinners and to all living souls. In Matthew 25:35-40 we are told:

    Matthew 25:35-40

    New International Version (NIV)

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

This is a profound message. For if we are to do as Jesus instructs us, we must show compassion to all humans regardless of their beliefs, attitudes, behavior, etc. Jesus did not make his love conditional on people's willingness to conform to his expectations. If any person were to do today what Jesus did in his time, that person would be run out of town.

There are some church leaders and concerned citizens who minister to violent criminal offenders in prison. This is not a fashionable job. These selfless humanitarians are seldom acknowledged for their work in this area. Not everyone is meant to work with criminals. What I think we can all do is develop the understanding that even the most corrupt and immoral people are our brothers and sisters, including the criminals who have violated our most sacred rules. I would even risk saying that we should love those people who hate us for our beliefs and who tell we are wrong for thinking them. This is idea difficult to accept, but it is worthy of consideration.

I'm not certain that I can rightfully claim to be a true follower of Christ based on the standards set by our Christian leaders. Nonetheless I do recognize the value in the scripture of the Bible and the wisdom of the Christ's teachings. Jesus was certainly an evolved being. As a master and teacher, he gave us much to consider as spiritual beings having a human experience.

Not long ago I became friends with a gentleman who had experienced his awakening while serving an eight year prison sentence. He told me it was his third felony offense and that he was facing the three strikes rule which would have put him away for life. My friend told me that he was considered one of the more feared inmates in his unit. He said that when he saw another inmate who appeared to have a "chip on his shoulder," he would tell the inmate to come into his cell where they would "have it out." I just want to get across the kind of person my friend was at that time of his life.

When I first met this man, I could not detect or read his former personality. He actually replaced his anger and bitterness, with a newer and more positive attitude which somehow pushed his former personality down so far that I could not sense it. One would never know that an enraged convict is part of this man's history.

My friend told me that his awakening came after he had given deep thought to his situation. He finally came to the conclusion that he did not want to have the kind of experience he was having. He said that he was able to reform himself, because he had a deep desire to do so. His determination to change was the key to his awakening. He realized there was something more to life than he was experiencing in his small cell.

There was one particular experience my friend related me which struck me as a kind of revelation. He said that there was a sex offender in the cell next to his. My friend explained that he is very protective of children. At the time, all he could think of was inflicting physical pain to this pedophile. The marked man would walk nervously past my friend's cell anticipating a thrashing. One day in the course of his awakening, my friend gazed upon the despised inmate and a strange sensation came over him. He no longer felt the overwhelming urge to cause injury to him. Rather my friend was surprised to find that he could only see the love in this man. He told me that rather than rushing to maim the sex offender, he only nodded his head at him, as the human soul walked past. This is a true life event of the kind rarely ever heard of in our society.

What I learned from this story is that we are not to condone the bad behavior of any person. At the same time, we are to love the soul of the person. This is true whether or not we see them as the most despicable creatures on Earth. All criminal behavior and misconduct from the mildest misdemeanor to the most heinous felony are offenses which victimize others and cannot be tolerated in our society. Still we are all brothers and sisters in spirit and should recognize the divine light in one another.

I realize this topic is not easy for crime victims. It's an emotional matter. Please understand that there is no requirement to show kindness to a person who has harmed to you. Deciding to withhold love does not necessarily make a person spiritually empty. Taking such action may be required for emotional survival.

There are times when we become overly involved in a person's dysfunction to our own detriment. This article is not about "soul saving," which is a commendable undertaking, and risky. What I am talking about is a general appreciation for all members (particularly human members) of the Collective Consciousness, which some call God.

It was a great pleasure to cross paths with this man. After working as a legal support professional for many years, I wondered whether people with violent dispositions could ever make such a great leap in spiritual understanding. I think that in the back of mind I doubted it, although I hoped it was possible. It is not for me to judge the potential of people, but I am human like everyone else. I'll use the American Pit Bull Terrier as a metaphor.

In many states and communities, citizens debate whether or not pit bulls should be labeled an aggressive breed. I rescued a one year old pit bull named Missy from the county animal control (the pound). Missy was perfectly obedient and somewhat submissive. One day, after being with me for several months, Missy bit me several times, leaving bruises and small bite marks. I am sure this misbehaved animal had been abused by its former owner. I tried to correct Missy's bad habit with the help of professionals, but the biting did not stop. I surrendered her to a no-kill shelter in the hope that someone with better resources and skills could rehabilitate her. Remember, we cannot tolerate unacceptable behavior. Nonetheless, I do believe pit bulls make excellent canine companions if treated with love. I still think of Missy fondly from time to time.

By using my pit bull as a metaphor for the topic of this article, I hope my message is clear. This article is not an appeal for better treatment of sex offenders. In fact, it's not about criminal misconduct. It's about becoming aware of the divine spirit that exists within all of us. The message of this article is this: If we as individuals can recognize our spiritual connection with those who we mistakenly judge to be the lowest members of society, then we are capable of unconditional love for all that exists.

Clinical shadowing is a common practice in the medical system that allows students to gain useful insight and knowledge during their medical school years. If you would like to find out more about this topic and what it entails, read below for a few things you may not know about clinical shadowing.

    • Clinical shadowing is an extracurricular activity any medical student can enroll in during his or her school years. It is one of the easiest ways for a student to realize early on if a career in the medical system would be suitable for them.

    • Clinical shadowing does not offer any extra credit nor does it increase a student's grade. However, it is an experience which helps him or her better prepare for the required internship at the end of three years of medical school.

    • During clinical shadowing, a student will be opposed to a variety of clinical settings, which will enable them to more easily learn about various medical conditions, procedure, and interventions. In some cases, students may be allowed to take patient histories, write charts or perform minor procedures, such as measuring blood pressure or drawing blood. All of these activities help build self-confidence and experience, which are highly needed for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the medical system.

    • In order to engage in clinical shadowing, students have various alternatives. Some medical schools have clinical shadowing programs already set in motion, and students can easily join them. Another option involves looking for a teaching hospital that offers this type of program. Lastly, if you happen to known someone in the medical system, you can ask them to be your mentor.

    • Students are allowed to join a clinical shadowing program anytime they wish to and they can enroll in more than one throughout their three years of medical school. They can choose a different mentor and a different clinical setting each time so as to broaden their exposure to the health care system.

    • During clinical shadowing, each student will be paired with a medical professional who will act as a mentor throughout the duration of the program. Students will be required to visit the hospital once a week or every fortnight and experience practicing medicine first hand.

    • Students can choose to follow a primary care doctor, a surgeon, a physical therapist, a pharmacist, a veterinarian, a dentist, and so on. The choice is entirely up to the student and this experience can help them better plan out their future.

    • For the duration of the program, the student will be able to ask his mentor as many questions as he wants to in order to find out more about what being a medical professional really entails.

These are the most important things anyone needs to know about clinical shadowing. Although this is not a mandatory requirement for medical students, the benefits of pursing clinical shadowing activities are undeniable and any student enrolled in a medical school or program should take it into consideration.
