Energy and network marketing now have something in common: Ampegy. This is a legal MLM (multi-level marketing) company that was started by Steve Smith who's also the founder of Excel Communication (the youngest company to ever join the NY Stock Exchange).

Based in Houston, Ampegy is a division of Spark Energy, which was founded in 1991 by Keith Maxwell. Currently this opportunity is focusing on servicing 7 deregulated states: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

    The Compensation Plan

Ampegy has two entry levels: $49.95 and $399.90. Both require you to buy the Business Building Kit (a one-time fee of $49.95) and pay a $19.95 monthly fee for marketing support. In turn you will be given two websites (one for sponsoring your down line and one for customers) and be able to earn commissions (starting at 0.25 cents/KWh and growing from there).

You can also earn a $100 fast start bonus in one of the following ways:

    1. Enroll three new customers, including yourself, within your first 30 days

    2. Enroll 10 new customers within the first 30 days

    3. Sponsor someone who then goes on to enroll 3 new customers within their first 30 days

    Determining the Demand and Profitability

Ampegy has two main products: electricity and natural gas. Since these products are considered necessary, they're always in demand regardless of what may happen. While this is good news, as with any other type of MLM your income is going to be determined upon how much time and effort you put into building your business.

The more you invest, the more you'll make. It really is that simple. You'll also find that their marketing and compensation plan are equally as simple.

There are only three things that you'll need to do: enroll customers in the system; sponsor others who'd like to have their very own Ampegy business; and help those who enroll under you get customers for themselves.

With these simple activities you'll be earning immediate (more commonly known as Fast Start Bonuses), recurring and unlimited income. All of this then combines to earn you a nice paycheck each month.

    Marketing Strategy

It's important to understand the strategy that Ampegy is using. This is an MLM system that offers you training, product information campaigns, news releases and plenty of information.

There's also a very solid marketing system in place that attracts a lot of people so that you'll be able to build a nice income for yourself. These things all work together to ensure that Ampegy really is a good opportunity that's based upon a good company.

    Conclusion

Only you can determine whether or not Ampegy is the right opportunity for you. Now that you have some more information about this company, the decision should be easier for you to make. Since this definitely looks like one MLM that's here to stay, if you find that it fits in with your business plan, it's certainly a company to consider working with.

I want clarify some issues concerning my article entitled "How Important are Beliefs." I received a candid comment from the perspective of an intelligent and intuitive gentleman on another website where this article is posted. Feedback regarding my ideas is always appreciated. He was correct in pointing out that the words in my article seem to convey a tone of disappointment. I related my pastor's comments concerning my metaphysical theories because I think it demonstrates how we have difficulty seeing the effect our beliefs have on our relationships. This unfortunate attitude escalates and contributes to global conflict. I also should have stated that my pastor's views do not necessarily reflect that of Spiritualists as whole. The reason being, beliefs are only partially based on the influence of others. They are also based on an individual's experience.

There seems to be some confusion about my expectation of people to elevate themselves to higher levels of awareness, rather than my confidence in their ability to achieve great things for themselves and the human race. This reader mentioned soul-saving, which I have heard before. That's a reasonable interpretation of the impression my article gives. What he says is true. A spiritual advisor cannot have the expectation that a person will jump your level of understanding. We are all going at our own pace. That fact does not put any individual in a lower spiritual class. There is no status or prestige built into the spiritual evolutionary process. My opinions are no more valid than anyone else's. The levels these illumined / enlightened / psychic people talk about are merely to establish a reference point. This are these illusory levels and do not imply superiority, nor should they be taken as such. This is the reason I am not particularly fond of the fraternal orders which adopt the degree system. Not that they are misusing the concept. It just sends a confusing message to people on the outside. I'm sure that's not the intent of these forward thinkers. I do believe it's possible that the Spirit World has a hierarchal order to it in terms of how access to knowledge is granted. I doubt they operate this system with an attitude of self-importance. I am posting my reply from this gentleman to provide some insight into my thoughts on this subject. I feel it's an interesting discussion for those who believe that they have awakened to the Truth as this reader obviously has.

    Author's Response

Those are insightful comments. I'm glad you posted. I agree with you on all counts. I do understand that beliefs are extremely important to every living being. I have maintained this from the beginning. I would never ask someone to let go of their belief system in favor of one that I feel is superior. Especially since we all have valuable experiences and thoughts that may contribute to a correct understanding of the Truth. You are right. It is a bit frustrating that these incompatible energies cannot merge. If that's what we're talking about. I realize that everyone is going at their own pace. No one can claim to be higher in spirit than anyone else. Clearly we are all learning. I also agree that conflict is an important factor in the learning process. I completely understand what you are saying.

On the other hand, you know what I mean by awakening others. If you want to call it soul-saving, that's fine. I tend to dislike the term "save," because of the connotation it's been given. What I'm trying to say is that nothing bad is going to happen to anyone by opening their eyes. It's just my hope that humanity as a whole (Global Consciousness) will eventually awaken. I feel as many others do that humanity is in a transformational period. I can't say I know exactly what that means for us. Some people claim it to be a period of enlightenment. I've heard others call it apocalyptic. They could both be right or totally wrong. I have an intuitive feeling that we are nearing the end of our journey. At least in the way we have been permitted to travel it. Again, that's just the "feeling" I get. But if it is true, do we have a responsibility to apply ourselves, or do we sit back and allow things to run their course as we have throughout history? That's the soul-saving part I guess. I'm not suggesting people go door to door exclaiming the coming of the Divine Transformation. I know we can't directly insert ourselves into the lives of others, hoping to change their outlook. I've learned that lesson. However, I do believe it's okay for people like you and I to make ourselves available as guides to point out the pot holes they keep falling into. The spirits work with us that way all of the time. I want to point out that I've fallen into plenty of my own pot holes.

I spent a significant amount of time assisting in the defense of criminals (which is probably where I get this urge to save people). I saw the same people getting themselves into the same trouble over and over. It wasn't that it was the same person doing it. They were all the same person. Many of them never learned or accomplished their missions. They just died as a result of their inability to make good decisions. It's not for me to judge their character (perhaps their behavior), but clearly you know when someone is on the wrong path. Some people's lives go on and on that way. Life after life. This seems unnecessary. It's not that they don't have the capacity to do the right thing. It's something else. I think a lot of it has to do with them not knowing what you and I know about the universe. At least the piece of it that we do know. It seems like a simple thing to let them in on it if is appropriate and reasonable to do so. There's a lot of room for discussion here. I'm certainly not the authority on the matter.

I'm glad I caught your comment. You raise some good points. I did put some thought into this reply. Thanks!

    Readers Reply

The reader appreciated my lengthy response to his comment. He said I wrote it with insight and tact. The reader reflected that he only got to where he is in life because people were kind enough to guide him in making good choices. He also pointed out that one must have the curiosity and desire to accept the advice being offered. I agree that this is an essential element. An individual must be ready and willing to make the leap in spiritual understanding. I'll also add that the person must be interested in what you have to say. Otherwise, a positive and constructive relationship cannot develop. As my commenter suggests, people will continue in their struggles until they have had enough. At that point, they will look for the guidance that leads to the path of illumination. It may be as this reader claims that the human race may need to hit rock bottom before their awareness expands enough to see beyond the illusory nature of reality. These are all excellent thoughts on the matter. I concluded that a hands-off policy or at least a minimal contact (self-imposed) rule may be appropriate.

Being awakened doesn't make life any easier, but in a sense, having an understanding of reality makes it easier to manage. Anyone who has had the awakening experience will attest to this statement.

If you are about to welcome local movers into your home, you may be wondering what you need to do ahead of time to prepare your home so the moving process is as smooth as possible. Moving day can feel more like chaos than order, especially when there are half a dozen movers running around your home, packing up your belongings, and carrying out your furniture. To make moving day a little less hectic and to help expedite the whole process of moving your belongings out of your old home and into your new one, there are some steps you can take that will help make the big day as stress free as possible.

    These include:

Packing high-priority items ahead of time: You know those items you would scurry to save if there were ever a fire at your home? Photos? Jewelry maybe? You should go through your home and decide what items are sentimental to you and pack these into secure storage boxes, padded on the inside with bubble wrap or Styrofoam peanuts if possible. You should also consider packing your purse, wallet, keys, driver's license, passport, and any other items you may need to have handy during the move.

Eliminating items you no longer need: If you have some clothes that haven't seen the light of day since the disco era or furniture that has been stuffed into the garage for years, maybe now is the time to start purging the items you really no longer want or use. You could go by the one-year rule, which basically means if you haven't used an item or worn a garment of clothing in over a year, then it is time to discard the item. Or, you donate it to a local charity. Remember, many charitable donations are tax deductible*

Hiring a sitter: Whether you have babies crawling around on the floor or Pomeranians prancing around the house, you should hire a trustworthy sitter to care for your little loved ones on moving day. Having a sitter take your children or pets offsite during moving day is the best way to ensure that they will not be in the way (and risk getting hurt inadvertently) when the movers are inside your home doing their work.

Making clear pathways between rooms: The pre-moving day hustle might mean you have boxes, bags, and other items strewn about the house. However, if your home is too messy come moving day, your movers may have a very difficult time moving your belongings out. So, be sure that you have clear, direct paths between all rooms as well as by all exterior doorways, and make sure all windows are unobstructed.

In addition to the tips mentioned above, you also want to make sure you have at least one person at your home come moving day. If you can't be available on moving day, find someone who is trustworthy and able to help answer any questions your movers may have once they arrive.

Article Title: How to Find Reputable Movers in Phoenix, AZ

Are you looking for reputable movers in the Phoenix, AZ, area and aren't sure where to turn? While it may seem daunting to hire a single moving company when there are dozens to choose from, once you begin your search for the right mover and know what to look for, you are sure to find the perfect moving company to suit your needs. The first step to finding the right moving company is checking out the mover listings from your local Better Business Bureau (BBB). You can find background information on many of the local moving companies serving your area this way and can find out which ones have the best track record of service. The BBB even provides ratings on these moving companies, with an A+ indicative of a mover that has received few if any complaints, provides great services, and performs excellent work at a fair price.

In addition to the BBB, you will also want to check out Angie's List. A subscriber-based, consumer-oriented website, Angie's List is largely a consumer review site with ratings, comments, and other useful information from actual customers; nobody is paid to provide recommendations or positive feedback on products and services, and businesses are prohibited from bolstering their own offerings with false reviews. If you would rather not pay the fees to join Angie's List, there are plenty of other consumer review sites that are completely free of charge and will also provide the insight and background you want to know about the companies you are considering hiring. These sites include Yelp and Google Reviews.

While consumer reviews and business background checks are two wonderful tools for determining which moving companies you should consider, you also need to do some digging on which movers have the best credentials. For example, there are many perfectly wonderful moving companies out there, but not all of them have earned major moving industry accreditations. One such mark to look for when shopping around for moving companies is the ProMover designation from the American Moving and Storage Association.

Another organization to check when you want to find out what local moving companies are worthy of your time is your local Chamber of Commerce, a group that most upstanding, community-oriented businesses will join. Any business that establishes itself with a highly visible organization such as your local Chamber of Commerce will avoid unfair or clandestine business practices that could lead to unhappy customers and tarnish its image.

Finally, you can always rely on your friends and family to steer you in the right direction when it comes to choosing right moving company. Your relatives, neighbors, colleagues, and other individuals in your social network will surely tell you all you want to know about their experiences with the moving companies they have hired and will gladly provide recommendations on movers they like most. The background research you do on these movers will definitely help you in finding a reputable moving company that will suit your needs.

The Tampa area, situated on the Gulf of Mexico, is well-known for its Chamber of Commerce weather. Sometimes, however, the warm sunshine and bay breezes are marred by severe storms. Hurricane season spans from early June through November, with most tropical activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October. While the area generally feels some effect from passing tropical storms each year, direct hits have been historically uncommon. As a result, some Tampa residents may be lulled into foregoing their hurricane planning and preparedness. This is unwise. Studies show that Tampa is extremely vulnerable to hurricane destruction and storm surge flooding, which occurs when water is pushed ashore by the force of swirling winds.

If you live in the Tampa Bay area, there are steps you should take to make sure you and your family will be prepared in the event of a hurricane:

    • Ensure that you have adequate insurance coverage – If you own a home and flooding is a threat, contact your insurance company to confirm your coverage. Flood insurance is often separate, and there may be a waiting period for it to go into effect.

    • Inventory your personal property – In addition to making a detailed list, consider taking photographs or video, which will be very helpful in the event you need to make an insurance claim. Maintain this information in a safe, waterproof location with your other important documents.

    • Monitor the weather conditions – A battery-powered weather radio is a great way to keep updated on an approaching storm and its projected path. Some models can also be powered with a hand crank and incorporate other useful features, such as flashlights and cell phone chargers. In addition, there are several smartphone apps, such as the American Red Cross hurricane app and the iMap Weather Radio app, which provide severe weather alerts and other helpful information.

    • Know your evacuation level – If you live in an evacuation zone or mobile home, have a relocation plan in place. Be sure to arrange for the safekeeping of your pets, which cannot be taken to public shelters.

    • Create a family disaster plan – Agree on a place to meet if you become separated during a storm, and identify the nearest shelter as a back-up plan. Designate an out-of-town contact for each person to call and report that they are safe.

    • Store drinking water – A good rule of thumb is one gallon or more of water per person per day. Keep the water in clean containers. As an extra precaution, consider having on hand a water purification system designed for camping or travel.

    • Ensure a water supply for sanitary purposes – Fill the bathtub and other large containers with tap water.

    • Anticipate a power outage – For charging mobile devices, you can use a battery back-up or solar charger. If you'll need power to run other small appliances, such as televisions, radios, laptop computers, electric grills, and outdoor lights, consider a generator.

    • Prepare your surroundings – Bring inside all unsecured items, such as lawn furniture, toys, garden tools, and trash cans, which can blow around in a storm and cause injuries and damage.

    • Keep food cold for as long as possible – If a hurricane is imminent, turn your refrigerator thermostat to its coldest setting and keep the doors closed.

    • Get gas – Fuel all of your vehicles and the tank for your outdoor grill.

    • Obtain a supply of cash – In the aftermath of a hurricane, checks and credit cards may not be accepted, and ATMs may not be operational.

    • If you are staying home, remain indoors – Close all doors, windows, curtains, blinds, and shades, and keep away from windows, doors, and exterior walls. Take refuge in a small interior room, closet, or hallway on the lowest floor of your home, or lie on the floor under a table, mattress, or other sturdy object.

    • Practice – Try living for one day without your utilities, and make a list of the essential items that become apparent.

History has unfortunately shown us that a lack of preparedness is a common thread among major hurricane disasters. By understanding your vulnerability and the actions you should take before and during a storm, you can help reduce the threat to yourself and your family.

While the official tornado season in the Oklahoma City area spans from late March through August, violent storms have been known to occur at any time of year in the twister-prone region known as "tornado alley." In fact, Oklahoma City experiences more tornado strikes than any other city in the US, so it's important to know what to do to protect yourself and your family from the ravages of a deadly storm.

Following are some safety tips for tornado preparation, some of which could save your life:

    • Be aware of the weather – Listen to a local radio station or weather radio to stay up-to-date on conditions that can change abruptly.

    • Understand the difference between "tornado watch" and "tornado warning" – While a "watch" indicates that a tornado is possible in the next several hours, a "warning" means that a tornado has been spotted in the area. When you hear "tornado warning," you should move immediately to a safe location.

    • Remain calm -- The knowledge that you are well-prepared will help prevent panic and thus allow you to think clearly, improve your response time, and make the best decisions.

    • Secure loose articles – If time permits, bring in your lawn furniture, toys, trash cans, and other unsecured items, which the strong winds of a tornado can transform into dangerous projectiles.

    • Know the signs of a tornado – Dark, greenish-colored clouds, large hail, whirling debris under a cloud base, roaring noise, and of course, a funnel cloud, are all danger signals that you should heed.

    • Choose a safe room in your home – Designate a room where everyone will gather in the event of a tornado warning. During a storm, the best place to be is in a basement. If your house doesn't have an underground storm shelter, or you live in an apartment, select a small, centralized, windowless room, such as a bathroom or closet, on the lowest floor. Other good options are under a stairwell, or in an interior hallway. If you are in a mobile home, leave right away and seek shelter in a permanent structure. Do not leave your safe area until the danger has passed.

    • Prepare a tornado kit – Keep the following supplies in an easily accessible location: battery-powered radio or television, flashlight, spare batteries, first aid kit, study shoes, blankets, pillows, water, nonperishable food, cash, keys, and identification.

    • If you are in a vehicle, pull over and park – Quickly assess whether shelter is available, or if you can get to a point that is lower than the level of the road. If not, remain inside the vehicle with your seatbelt fastened. Position your head below window level and cover it with your hands and a jacket or blanket, if you have one. Do not attempt to drive when a tornado is nearby.

    • If shelter is unavailable, seek a low-lying area – If you are outside and unable to seek cover in a building, lie flat in a ditch or ravine and clasp your hands behind your head to protect yourself from flying debris.

    • Wear a helmet – Head injuries are responsible for the majority of tornado deaths. Protect yourself from head injury by donning a helmet when you learn of a tornado warning. Any type of helmet will do, such as a motorcycle helmet, bicycle helmet, football helmet, baseball helmet, or even a construction hard hat.

    • Avoid highway overpasses – Contrary to popular belief, highway overpasses offer no protection and are actually one of the worst places to seek shelter from a storm. The reason is that winds typically strengthen under a bridge, thus increasing the danger of being struck by flying debris or carried away by the powerful airflow.

    • Have a plan for the aftermath – Designate a place for your family to meet in case you get separated during a tornado. Stay out of damaged buildings, and leave immediately if you smell gas or chemical fumes.

Tornadoes are one of nature's most powerful and destructive forces. By following these guidelines, you can help prepare yourself and your family in the event you are caught in the unforgiving path of a twister.

Visiting the Scottsdale area? Perhaps you've basked in the glorious sunshine, enjoyed the luxurious desert spa resorts, and savored the culinary delights offered by the sumptuous dining options. And now, maybe you're ready for a little adventure. If so, why not explore the best of the wacky and peculiar attractions near The West's Most Western Town. If "odd" is on your agenda, you might enjoy:

    • Living Ghost Town – Oatman, Arizona, pop. 135 (2010), bills itself as a living ghost town. Rock vistas tower over weathered shops and saloons that have clearly seen better days, but the real draws – pun intended – are the burros and gunfights. During the gold rush, miners used burros to haul their supplies, and the descendants of these faithful pack animals still inhabit the nearby hills. The docile burros appear regularly to beg for handouts from the tourists who come by to watch the Wild West gun battles, which are held in the streets several times each day. That's right; two groups of "outlaws" simply walk out into the traffic and loudly "blow each other away." Fun stuff.

    • Tombstone – If you're a fan of the frontier west, or at least the version you've seen in the movies, check out the former silver boomtown of Tombstone. An otherwise real town, Tombstone encompasses a sectioned-off six-block area that has been restored to its former 1880s splendor. Be sure to check out Boot Hill Graveyard, Good Enough Mine, Bird Cage Theater, the Tombstone Rattlesnake Exhibit, OK Corral, and Historama narrated by Vincent Price – and don't forget the World's Largest Rosebush. In Tombstone, there is truly something for everyone.

    • Four Corners – Nearby Shiprock, New Mexico, boasts the only spot in the country where – depending on how good your balance is – you can stand in four states simultaneously. By perching precariously on one toe or sprawling "drawn and quartered" style on the cement slab marking the geographic crosshairs, you can have a picture snapped of yourself inhabiting Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah – all at the same time. Now that's a unique vacation photo.

    • The Thing – Here's The Thing…if you're traveling on I-10 between Mountain View, Arizona, and Deming, New Mexico, the vast emptiness of the desert surroundings can easily lull you to sleep. One way to stay awake and alert is to read the numerous billboards, many of which advertise "The Mystery of the Desert," or simply ask, "The Thing? What Is It?" By the time you reach the large filling station and gift shop complex, you'll probably be intrigued (or weary) enough to stop in and find out. For a nominal fee, you'll be granted admission to an open courtyard with several sheds housing a rather unusual artifact display, along with a white cinder block box topped by a glass lid. Inside is – you guessed it – The Thing. A tourist attraction since 1950, and best kept a secret prior to viewing, this funky exhibit is a Thing not to be missed.

    • Hi Jolly's Tomb – Back in 1856, Jefferson Davis, Secretary of War and later President of the Confederacy, thought it might be efficient to transport people and supplies across the southwestern desert via camels. He imported over 70 of these creatures, which were accompanied by their Syrian caretaker, Hadji Ali, who was fondly known as "Hi Jolly." Whether or not the idea had any merit will never be known, because the project subsequently floundered when the Civil War intervened and Mr. Davis' attention was redirected to more urgent matters. The camels remained and roamed free in nearby Quartzsite, Arizona, until about 1942, the date of the last reported sighting. Hi Jolly stayed on as well until his death in 1902. Saddened, the locals build a special pyramid tomb in his honor, which was later topped with a metal camel silhouette by the Arizona Highway Department.

    • Casa Grande Ruins – The purpose behind the iconic "Great House," which has stood defiantly in the Sonoran Desert in Coolidge, Arizona, for more than 650 years, contributes to its mystique. Anthropologists speculate that it may have been a gathering place, waypoint marker, or even an astronomical observatory. Thanks to the construction of a steel shelter roof by the US government in 1932, the crumbling, four-story mud skyscraper has remained essentially intact. You can take part in an informational tour around – but not inside – the ruins, and perhaps formulate your own theory on the reason for its existence.

Widely renowned for its natural beauty, pampering world-class resorts, and intriguing Native American culture, Scottsdale is a popular vacation spot for good reason. If you care to journey just beyond the obvious, though, an exciting – and perhaps unexpected – adventure awaits.

Article Title: Selecting a Surgery Center – A Guide of What to Consider

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

The thought of surgery can be intimidating at first. If you elect to have your operation performed at a surgery center, the process of choosing a facility can add to the stress. The best way to relieve some of that stress and take some of the weight off your shoulders is by educating yourself about your condition, the procedure you are seeking to have performed, and the various surgery centers offering that specific procedure. The more you find out, you'll become less stressed and begin to feel more confident about what lies ahead.

Choosing Surgery Centers Based on Physicians

The most important thing you'll want to consider when choosing a surgery center is the physicians and surgeons in the staff who will be treating your condition. Exploring the Internet and the respective websites of surgery centers can be an ideal way to gather a great deal of information about the surgeons, physicians, and medical staff that make up the facility. Also, look outside the websites of these facilities to find reviews from previous patients to see what positive and negative things they have to say about their experience at the surgery center. Don't let any one review, positive or negative, sway your decision.

Differences from One Facility to Another

In all forms of business, healthcare included, organizations seek to differentiate themselves and develop niches within the marketplace. Some surgery centers focus on providing the best care available, and have a price tag that reflects that. Others may offer a lower level of care, but charge less to reflect that. And, some surgery centers may just choose to focus on providing an exceptional overall experience for patients. It is up to you, with the help of research, to discern these differences in surgery centers and find the one that reflects your wants and needs best.

    Where Surgery Centers are Located

Surgery centers are located throughout the United States, with most being found in cities with sizeable populations. As with most medical professions, you can expect to find terrific doctor and expert care in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, and other large cities throughout the country. However, one particular niche of surgery centers is that many of them are located in locations known for sunshine and great weather year-round, such as Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Locations of specific surgery centers aside, you should do your due diligence and research a variety of facilities, both in your area and in other destinations, to find the center that is the best fit for you and your particular needs.

An Opportunity to Bring Your Family Along

Really? Planning a trip to have surgery can be a good time for some family bonding? It isn't something that seems like it makes any sense at first, but after some analysis and thought, you may want to end up bringing your spouse and children with you for your surgery. As previously mentioned, many of the best surgery centers in America are located in desirable locales with plenty of attractions, including beaches, amusement parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, excellent restaurants, and more. Your time spent at a surgery center, even if it is an outpatient procedure, can be multiple days, and many individuals often find this an opportune time to string what would be just a surgical procedure into a family vacation. If you aren't planning to turn your surgery into a vacation, it can be beneficial to bring a family member along for the journey for help with travel, specifically after the procedure.

Our economy may not be booming as it has in years past, but the healthcare industry is thriving, and is expected to expand in years to come. There are a plethora of reasons for why healthcare continues to and will continue to expand, but in a basic sense, people are always going to become ill and injured, and will need professional medical care to maintain proper health. The amount of healthcare required to keep those sick individuals healthy is about to grow by leaps and bounds, thanks in large part to two significant catalysts.

    Baby Boomers

America's greatest generation – or so we have been told in recent times – is entering its golden years. Not surprisingly, our golden years are often laden with health complications. The baby boomers will certainly bring unprecedented demand to the healthcare industry, and that demand will need to be adequately met. Plus, well into the future, after the age of the baby boomers requiring healthcare has passed, Generations X and Y will contribute to a further increase to the demand of quality healthcare. The advent of the baby boomers and future generations requiring increased medical care will change the way we look at medicine and help to revolutionize the field as a whole.

The Advent of the Affordable Care Act

Political beliefs, acclaim, and criticism aside, we are in the dawning of the age of the Affordable Care Act in America, and it is going to have a large impact on healthcare as we know it. For one, this act being passed into law will enable those who previously could not receive treatment to do so. That, in and of itself, will mean more patients being seen by doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and other medical professionals. As the new waves of patients come and continue to increase in number, the demand for medical professionals will naturally increase. Furthermore, with more and more people being able to receive expert medical care, one can only assume that competition within the industry will increase and help to drive an innovative future of medicine.

Types of Jobs That Are Expected to Be in Demand

In short, all jobs in healthcare are expected to be in demand in the future, as a result of baby boomers aging, the Affordable Care Act being passed, population growth, and any number of other factors. Doctors require nurses and other assistants. As each of those grow, additional medical personnel of all types will be required in order to operate a hospital, surgical center, or small private practice effectively. There is a trickle-down effect, so to speak, from doctors to all other types of medical jobs. And, along with more jobs being created in healthcare, it is likely that more jobs in other industries will be created as well.

    Landing a Job in Healthcare

Finding a job in healthcare may seem daunting, but if you have the appropriate skills, education and experience, you might find that it isn't so difficult to do so. Regarding medical doctors specifically, as the demand for them increases, we may very well see that more and more medical schools will be admitting more students to meet the demand. If you've thought about becoming a medical doctor, now may be a better time than ever to do so. If medical school isn't in your path, there are still numerous ways for you to find employment within the healthcare field. We will need all types of medical personnel in the future, and those with the most to offer will be the ones filling those positions. It certainly cannot hurt to gain experience in healthcare now, even in something you are not interested in, to gain employment in the future.

If you have a back or neck surgery on the horizon or have pondered the possibility of surgery briefly, chances are that you'll want to find out more about surgery and what it means. True, a sudden influx of information regarding a foreign topic such as surgery can prove inundating, but addressing questions one-by-one and seeking surface-level answers before delving into greater detail can be a wise approach. The following contains detailed answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding back surgery.

    Will it Hurt?

During the procedure, you will probably feel very little, if anything at all, thanks to the anesthesia. On the other hand, the period of time immediately after you are released from surgery can be somewhat uncomfortable. After all, incisions are generally required for any type of surgery, and any type of cutting of the skin can be painful. However, you will likely be prescribed anti-inflammatory or pain medication to help null and minimize the pain that develops. If you do find that the pain persists with taking the medication prescribed, you should contact your doctor and explain the symptoms you are feeling, as a condition not initially apparent.

Where Do I Go for Back Surgery?

Where you choose to go for back surgery may well depend on the health insurance you have. Clearly, a physician within your insurance network should be considered more prudently than one who is not in your network. Insurance aside, however, you should take the time to research surgeons, hospitals, and surgery centers both in your area and throughout the country. Begin by conducting an Internet search and exploring the various results that are presented to you. Check out online reviews of surgeons and surgery centers posted by former patients, but don't place too much stock into any one review, be it a positive one or a negative one. Finding the right surgeon or facility for you can take time, but it is something that will certainly pay off if you put in the work.

What is Recovery from Surgery Like?

The type of surgery and specific procedure you choose will largely dictate the length of your recovery period. Open spine surgeries are typically accompanied by longer recuperation periods, and minimally invasive, endoscopic procedure typically entail shorter recovery periods. Regardless of which type of surgery you choose, you can expect to spend anywhere from several weeks to several months recuperating. Also, your recovery period will likely consist of physical therapy sessions to help you regain strength and mobility. Your recovery period is ultimately what you make of it, and if you choose to do as you are told to do by your physician and physical therapy professional, you will surely be on the right road to recovery.

    How Expensive is Surgery?

The short answer to this question is that the price of surgery varies. The more detailed answer depends upon your unique case and where you intend to have your procedure done. Like most surgeries, spine surgery can cost several thousands of dollars. Price is certainly a concern amongst many, and not one to be taken lightly. As previously stated, begin by looking within your health insurance network to see if any doctors of medical facilities cover the procedure you are seeking. However, most spine surgeries are considered elective procedures (except in emergent situations), and are generally not covered by standard health insurance plans. If your procedure is not covered by your insurance, you should begin to look into pricing different medical facilities and surgery centers to find a price that is acceptable for you.

If you require surgery for your back or have recently undergone a procedure, a period of physical therapy is almost assuredly in your near future. Furthermore, in your physical therapy sessions, you will surely encounter a wide variety of exercises, all designed to strengthen your back and help to improve mobility and posture. Below you will find a detailed description of some of the most common types of back exercises that are often recommended as part of physical therapy regimens.

    The Back Extension

The back extension is one of the simplest back exercises to perform that is designed to work muscles throughout the back, as well as in the core. This exercise requires a piece of equipment that stabilizes the feet and provides a padded surface on which the pelvic region rests. The feet are secured, the legs situated upward at a 45-degree angle, and the pelvis rests on the pad, allowing the upper body to hang freely over the edge of the padded surface. From this position, the exercise is completed by lifting the back to straighten the body and then lowering the back to return to the start position. One benefit of this exercise is that it requires lifting only your body weight.

    The Seated Pullback Cable Row

The seated pullback cable row is a particularly beneficial back exercise because it allows individuals to work and strengthen their backs with different levels of resistance. This exercise does require the use of a specific machine, but the machine in question is one that is found in almost every gym or physical therapy center in America. You begin by sitting in an upright position with your feet against a rest. Your arms will grab onto two handles that are attached to a set of weights via a pulley. You will then pull back on the handles, bringing them in close to your body and then slowly returning them to assume the start position. Weight can be adjusted as needed, and the goal is to increase the weight used throughout your physical therapy sessions.

    The Back Arch

Though it is called a back arch, this exercise works muscle groups throughout the body. Furthermore, it may seem simple enough to perform, but it can take some practice to perfect and can also be slightly exhausting when attempted at first. This exercise starts out with you lying flat on your back. From there, bring your feet in toward your buttocks so that your legs are bent at the knee at about a 30-degree angle. Then, place your hands on the ground, palms facing downward. Begin the exercise by lifting your body off the ground, pushing with both your hands and feet. You should push until your body is fully raised and your back is as arched as possible; it may take some time and practice to complete the full arch. Finally, bring your body back to the resting position with your palms facing downward and your legs bent at about a 30-degree angle at the knee. The more you perform this exercise the more repetitions you will be able to do, helping to strengthen your back.

    Light Stretching

If you find that you are not in the right shape to perform any of the aforementioned exercises, a good place to start your road to recovery is with light stretching. Start with something simple like raising your arms above your head and rotating your arms in small circles. Or, try bending at the waist, attempting to touch your toes. Both of these will help to get your blood flowing and will prepare you to get into adequate shape to perform some of the other back exercises listed previously in this article.

A patient advocate is an individual who assists patients through the diagnosis and treatment of a disorder or disease and helps them navigate the often murky waters of the health care system. Oftentimes, patient advocates have extensive experience in the health care and social work fields and simply want to shift their careers in a different direction.

Being a patient advocate can involve a variety of tasks and may include helping patients find the right types of medical professionals for their particular health concerns, coordinating appointments with doctors, nurses, or other health care providers, and helping patients decide which types of physician-recommended treatments may best help relieve their specific symptoms. Additionally, some patient advocates may perform various other duties, particularly if they choose to work with specific populations of people, such as the elderly or children.

Qualities of a Good Patient Advocate

Working as a patient advocate requires an individual with a variety of skills, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to interact with many types of individuals and organizations. Many advocates come from backgrounds rich in nursing, social work, and education, while others have gained valuable personal experience helping a loved one navigate the health care system and want to expand their experience into a viable career.

Patient advocacy is best suited for people who:

    • Enjoy helping others

    • Can get along with many types of patients, as well as their families and medical professionals

    • Can work effectively under pressure

    • Have a lot of patience

    • Have good time management and organizational skills

    • Can be assertive, but polite

Additionally, if an individual prefers to work with the insurance and billing aspects of patient advocacy, he or she will need an understanding of how reimbursements, deductibles, co-insurances, and co-pays work. Having a working knowledge of government health care programs like Medicare and Medicaid is also important.

    Who Employs Patient Advocates?

Many patient advocates are volunteers, working simply for the satisfaction that comes from helping others; some are self-employed and run their own advocacy businesses; and others work directly for individual patients. Someone who works for a patient is often hired by the patient's family to not only help the patient find suitable treatment and payment options, but also to be a caring stand-in for family members who may live too far away or whose work schedules don't allow them to aid the patient as much as needed.

Other businesses and organizations that hire patient advocates include:

    • Government entities

    • Not-for-profit organizations

    • Insurance companies

Common Challenges Associated with Being a Patient Advocate

While the concept of helping people find the best care and negotiate reasonable health care costs is admirable, individuals who are considering becoming patient advocates should know that the job does come with some challenges.

For starters, the field of patient advocacy is relatively new, and while this career is on track to be one of the more popular ones in the coming years, many medical providers do not quite understand the role a patient advocate plays. As a result, many advocates – particularly those that work for an individual patient – are regarded suspiciously and may not be warmly welcomed in certain settings.

Due to these challenges, anyone considering entering the patient advocacy field should be prepared to exhibit exceptional communication skills and have a deep, working knowledge about many aspects of the health care system. If a patient advocate has a firm grasp on these skills and is prepared to work hard, he or she can look forward to a stimulating career, both professionally and financially.

Perhaps you have heard about minimally invasive spine surgery as an alternative to open spine surgery before, but weren't quite sure what it is or what it entails. True, minimally invasive surgery is an alternative to open surgery, and is becoming more and more prevalent. However, the sudden surge of this type of surgery is not because it is a type of surgery recently discovered and suddenly utilized. In fact, minimally invasive spine surgeries have been performed for decades now, and the practice is well beyond anything that could be considered exploratory or experimental. If you've thought seriously about minimally invasive surgery, you probably want to learn as much about it as possible, and the following seeks to do just that for you.

    A Few Minor Distinctions

Open spine surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery differ in many ways, some of which are discussed in greater detail below. In a general sense, minimally invasive surgeries can be completed on an outpatient basis, meaning that no overnight hospital stay is required; open surgeries typically require at least one night's stay in a hospital or medical center. Furthermore, open spine surgeries tend to require general anesthesia to completely sedate patients throughout the course of the operation; minimally invasive spine surgeries typically use only local anesthesia and IVs to sedate patients.

    The Differing Methods of Surgery

Traditionally, open surgery involves a larger incision than does minimally invasive surgery. After a large incision is cut into the back, neck, or abdomen, the surgeon will expose the section of the spine in order for the spinal abnormality to be visible by the naked eye. Then, a series of surgical tools are utilized to complete the operation before stitching up the large incision. Minimally invasive surgery requires an incision no larger than an inch in diameter. The procedure is guided by an endoscope, a small laser, and other small surgical tools that all fit into the spinal anatomy without increasing the size of the initial incision.

Is There Any Difference in the Cost?

The cost of surgery is something that varies significantly, and spine surgery is no different. There isn't a significant disparity between the average prices for minimally invasive surgery and open spine surgery, but the more intensive of a procedure you require can be reflected in the price you'll have to pay. The amount you pay for a spine procedure can certainly be a determining factor in determining not only the type of surgery you pursue, but also whom you choose to perform the surgery for you. Start by looking in your insurance network to see if your procedure can be covered. However, it should be noted that most spine surgeries are elective procedures, and are often not covered on standard insurance plans.

What is the Recovery Period Like?

The recovery from minimally invasive surgery is almost always shorter than that of open back surgery. Open spine procedures are notorious for recovery periods lasting several months to even a year. Minimally invasive surgeries, on the other hand, have recovery periods that range from anywhere from a few weeks to a few months in length. Depending on the severity of your condition and the procedure you have performed, whether open or minimally invasive, you may require physical or occupational therapy during the rehabilitative and recuperation process. All in all, your recovery period is what you choose to make of it. The more you choose to resist what you are instructed to do, the more arduous and lengthy this time of recovery will most likely be.

There are a number of ways that the advent of the internet has opened the door for people to get in touch with their spiritual selves. One of these ways is through psychic chats. These can be a great resource for people who live in an area where psychic services may not be available. Psychic chats are making the services of psychics, mediums, and advisors available to literally every corner of the planet. It seems as though we are just beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible.

Psychic chat rooms are also great for folks who value privacy and who would be more comfortable confronting the spiritual sides of their personalities in the comfort of their own homes. In some areas the consultation of a psychic can bring disdainful looks from others in the community, and the freedom to consult an advisor online is a real gift. For others, they may not have the time in business of their daily lives to consult an advisor as often as they would like. Online psychic options can remedy these problems.

There are quite a few different things that can be done through a psychic chat. Some services are free, while others require some payment. You can do anything from have your horoscope interpreted in detail, to having your cards read, to just asking for advice from someone who may be able to look into your future and help you make some educated decisions. Just because the personal connection is done over a computer, it doesn't mean that the spiritual connection between you and the psychic isn't real.

You will find psychics available for chat in just about every genre that you would find them available anywhere else. Some specialize in matters of the heart, while others are led to advise you strictly on career choices. Other's deal with the family and some will even seek to communicate for you on the other side of the veil. While you'll want to be careful when giving out credit card numbers to readers online, it shouldn't take too much effort to research the psychic that you are interested in and to read some reviews. Make sure that you are getting the real thing. Just like in any other type of internet business, charlatans are out there that are just waiting to make an easy buck.

Another use for psychic chat is as a place of community. Chat rooms of all kinds are great places to meet people who think the same way you do. They can be a safe environment to share personal experiences and to seek advice, or they can just be a good place to make some new friends on the other side of the planet. Technology is making the world a smaller place and one would think that psychics would want to be on the cutting edge of that. Whether you are an novice psychic trying to understand your ability's or a seasoned reader, you'll find valuable connections by sharing in others stories and experiences.

Along the same lines, some psychic chat rooms have themes. This will help you narrow your search as you may be seeking advice for a specific problem or if you are looking for information. Different psychic web sites may publish a schedule of topics that will be discussed at certain times so that you can be sure to be online as the discussion is taking place. Imagine being at a convention of people who think like you do and being able to pick your workshop, but without ever having to leave home! The educational possibilities are endless.

How To Get a Good Psychic Chat Reading - A Quick Guide to Enjoying Your Psychic Experience

Includes information on how to get a good psychic chat reading. Also provides detailed information on how to tell if a psychic is genuine and what you should do to prepare for a reading.

How To Get a Good Psychic Chat Reading

Most people look to a psychic as a way of gaining a new angle on their life. A good psychic chat reading can open your eyes to a certain situation or particular life pattern and help you to identify whether those conditions are beneficial or detrimental to your overall health. Before you decide to go ahead with a psychic chat reading, you have to be completely open to the experience and truly feel that you can be receptive to what your psychic will give to you.

How To Get a Good Psychic Chat Reading - Find A Genuine Psychic

It is no surprise that the world is full of fraudulent psychics. Whether or not they are looking to deceive people or just simply aren't authentic, it's essential that you find a genuine psychic so you get the most accurate reading possible. A successful and effective psychic will be someone who guides their clients in a spiritual sense, and not in a manner that is motivated by power, money or validation.

A true psychic is someone who trusts their intuition and can easily gain insight into who you are as a person through your voice, your actions and your behaviors. The intuitive part of a genuine psychic is what makes them who they are. Just like other talented professionals such as artists or musicians, intuition is about understanding basic human emotion, potential and power. Every person is responsible for the decisions they make, but a good psychic can certainly point you down the right path.

How To Get a Good Psychic Chat Reading - Prepare Yourself Before You Go

It cannot be said enough that in order to truly take advantage of a psychic chat reading you must be completely open to the experience. In the same manner, if you arrive at a psychic chat reading with fearful emotions, it is likely that the reading will draw on that fear. If, however, you prepare your mind and work on being accepting toward the psychic and their spiritual energy, you are likely to benefit much more from the chat reading.

It would also be wise to go into a psychic reading with a clear idea of what you are hoping to get out of the session. If you clear your mind and come with a list of possible questions, or at least some prepared thoughts about what to ask, your psychic should get a clearer picture of what's on your mind. If your mind is clouded, the visions and judgment of your psychic will also be distorted. Keep in mind that your psychic is a normal person just like you and they want to help you. Above all else, just remember to relax. This should be an enjoyable experience for both you and the psychic. While some nerves are normal, breathe easy and let your psychic do their job.

Palm reading, also known as palmistry or chiromancy, is a fascinating way of predicating one's future through the study of the palm of the hand. Dating back to Hindu astrology and the gypsy traditions, palm reading is now practiced all over the world.

    The Shape of the Hand

Most palm readers (palmists) use a person's dominant, or most active, hand for a reading. Once the dominant hand is determined, the palmist will analyze certain palm qualities. The first is the shape of the hand itself. There are four common hand types, which correspond with the elements:

    • Fire Hands—Long palms that are square or rectangular in shape with short fingers. These people are typically outgoing and like to be in control. They tend to be strong and quick-tempered.

    • Air Hands—Square palm with long fingers many times accompanied with dry skin. These folks tend to be cheerful and enjoy intellectual stimulation. They communicate well and enjoy writing.

    • Water Hands—Long, rectangular palms with long fingers. Emotional and expressive, these people tend to make great musicians and poets.

    • Earth Hands—Square palms with short fingers. People with earth hands tend to enjoy the outdoors. They are stable people, who do not like change. You may find many artists with earth hands.

    The Lines of the Palm

Palmists typically use four major lines, or hand creases, on the palm to predict ones futures: fate, heart, life and head lines. Each line determines a different aspect of one's personality and future life.

    • Fate Line—The fate line is located under the index finger. A strong fate line predicts a stable person. A weak fate line belongs to those who change jobs frequently. The absence of a fate line means the person will lack stability in their life.

    • Heart Line—The heart line appears toward the top of the palm, under the fingers. This line represents all areas of the heart, including one's love life, their emotional stability, romances, and even cardiac health.

    • Life Line—This line is found on the edge of the palm above the thumb and extends in a semi-circle toward the wrist. This line does NOT represent a person's longevity. Palmists believe that this line represents a person's physical health, vitality, and strength. The life line also reflects major life changes and events.

    • Head Line—The head line starts at the edge of the palm under the index finder and travels across the palm. This line represents how a person thinks. It determines a one's learning style, his or her aptitude for creative or analytical methods of learning, and communication style.

    What is the Simian Line?

The Simian line is another major palm line. Not everyone has a prominent Simian line. For those who do, this interesting line runs across the palm replacing the heart and head line. Some palmists believe emotional and reasoning can be studied by using this line alone. It is also believed that those with a Simian line never truly find inner peace. They tend to see things in only black or white, with no shades of gray. Therefore, it can be determined that the Simian line signifies constant tension in one's life.

While many consider palm reading a pseudoscience, others swear by its validity and base their lives on its study. Look at your own palm and determine how accurate the palm reading claims are. There may be a reason this ancient practice is still in use today.

Cartomancy is a method of divination that utilizes a deck of cards. While the practice has been popular for hundreds of years, it has seen a recent surge in commercial popularity with the sale of Tarot cards on the popular market. They have become a party prop as much as a tool of divination. This is a fact that is met with some consternation amongst true psychics who value the truth in their trade. They value the art in their psychic gifts, and the idea of girls at a slumber party playing at divination is frowned upon.

Initially, cartomancy was done with basic playing cards. In many places it still is done that way today. While the popularity and mysterious nature of Tarot cards have somewhat negated the practice of reading standard playing cards, the principles are much the same. Though different cultures have all managed to create unique sets of playing cards, adaptations have been made which allow readings to be done using a variety of decks. When it comes right down to it, cartomancy can be done with the poker deck that you have in the junk drawer. Tarot cards can be fun and enlightening, but you needn't feel like that is the only way to get a good reading or to get accurate guidance.

There are many superstitions about the cards themselves that are used for cartomancy. One of the most widely held beliefs is that the deck which is used for readings should never be used for anything else. The act of playing with the cards can ruin the fine edge of their accuracy. Some purists even say that no one except the owner of the cards should ever lay a finger on them. They must protect from the aura of other people so that the connection between the cards and the medium is undisturbed and clear.

The argument over what is and is not cartomancy can become heated when discussed. Though they may agree that various methods are forms of divination, many from the older schools of though refuse to bestow the title of cartomancy on any reading that does not involve a standard deck. In other words, they believe that cartomancy does not include Tarot readings. There are other types of oracle cards which they also feel do not meet the standards of true cartomancy.

The Tarot deck is much different than the regular decks of cards that you and I may be familiar with. For starters, it has more cards. They are also divided up differently. The Tarot decks include 22 "major" cards that do not have an equivalent in a standard deck. The remaining cards are somewhat similar to your standard poker cards in that each suit represents something significant. Clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades each equate to one of the major elements that make up the world. They are earth, air, fire and water.

Of course, there are also the numbers on the cards that carry meaning. This is particularly true with the face cards. What causes many problems, and likewise many to doubt its relevancy, is the dispute over the meaning of cards in identical decks. It can be difficult to engage people for an accurate reading if they are aware of these differences. One possible answer is that the cards play themselves out in accordance the way the interpreter will draw them. Could it be the cards will be played in the right way, no matter how you interpret them. Many cartomancers believe that this is the case, and thus the reason why disputes over interpretation aren't a big deal to them.

Includes information about why getting an astrology reading can be beneficial and how it is done. Also provides details on what you can expect during a reading.

Daily horoscopes can easily provide a little insight into your everyday life, but if you find yourself feeling unsatisfied and wanting more, you may want to consider getting an astrology reading. Horoscopes only incorporate your sun sign, but by participating in a personal astrology reading, an astrologer will use the date, time and place of your birth to comprehend and identify who you are as an individual.

Getting An Astrology Reading - Why Should You Do It?

Astrology readings can help you to gain perspective on your life and where it is going. By getting an astrology reading you should be able to understand what the forces are that drive you, what your hopes and dreams are and how the energies of the planets fit into your daily life. If you are at a crossroads in your life or you are facing a difficult challenge, an astrology reading may offer you some clarity and put your mind at ease.

If you're feeling a little down and could benefit from a self-esteem boost, an astrology reading could also offer you some much-needed support. If you're feeling like you might be in a rut regarding your career, hobbies or even friends and family, getting an astrology reading could motivate your personal growth and help you get back on track. Once you begin to feel more motivated, your sense of empowerment will have you feeling much more confident about every aspect of your life.

Getting An Astrology Reading - What Should You Expect?

If you're feeling intimidated about opening up to an astrologer, keep in mind that they want to help you and will remain open-minded and non-judgmental throughout your entire session. You also won't have to worry about your personal information being spread around because all sessions are kept completely confidential. Your astrologer will talk about what kind of actions you may be taking, but they will never make decisions for you - that is all up to you.

Many personal astrology readings are done over the phone in 30-minute sessions, but if you feel that 30 minutes is not sufficient time there should be 60 and 90-minute sessions available as well. If you're struggling to find an astrologer that fits your needs, consider conducting an online search. You should expect to pay around $50 for a reading, but prices may vary in either direction. It's always best for you to contact your astrologer first so you can introduce yourself and set the stage for what comes next.

If you decide to work with an astrologer via email and phone, many astrologers will also record your session in a CD or MP3 format so that you're able to return to it at a later date if you'd like to reflect on what was talked about. However you decide to go about getting an astrology reading, always be sure to go at your own pace. If you ever feel uncomfortable, simply talk to your astrologer because they are always more than willing to work with you.

Psychics have fascinated the masses for thousands of years. They've been a source of ridicule, they've been a source of information and they've been a source of hope for the disparate.

Now, if you turn on your television, you will see just how much psychics have gained in popularity. From understanding the emotions of animals to speaking to the dead and everything in between, psychics are enjoying their newfound fame.

However, with the droves of people coming out claiming to be psychic, it's no wonder there are those that remain skeptical. Honestly, if they are such mysterious and rare abilities, how can so many people have them? But the truth is that every person---man, woman and child---is predisposed to having psychic abilities.

That's right. Psychics are all around you...in fact, you're one too. So if that's true, you're probably wondering why you can't have a vision helping you locate the keys you misplaced, or speak to your loved ones that have passed away whenever you want? You can't just tap into any dormant psychic ability you may possess without alot of work and practice.

It's easy to doubt "true" psychics because of all the people that play at being psychic. Even these "fake" psychics have true psychic abilities, they just haven't tapped them yet. You should realize that psychics are not necessarily fake just because they're wrong or make a mistake. They're only human and it's entirely possible for them to misinterpret what they are experiencing.

Think about it. Have you ever had a "gut" feeling? Or "felt" tension or sadness when you entered a room? "Heard" a voice or "sensed" a presence when no one's there? If so, then you've had a psychic experience. It's more common than people realize. The difference between you and practicing psychics is that they trust what they sense and feel instead of writing it off as coincidence, deja vu or just plain luck.

But being a psychic is not as simple as it sounds. Psychics don't just have the power to "see" something or someone. There are many different types of psychic abilities and you have to discover your ability before you can tap into it. For instance, there is clairvoyance (experiencing visions), clairaudience (experiencing sounds, such as voices), clairsentience (experiencing feelings) and, of course, intuition (experiencing a gut feeling) which are all very common abilities in psychics. While there are other abilities, these are the most common.

Although most people have or will have at least one psychic experience in their life, it usually takes a life changing event for a person to tap into their true potential as a psychic. However, it's entirely possible to strengthen your psychic abilities in other ways should you want to.

One very popular way psychics use to develop their skills is to meditate. Meditation helps rid your mind of the excess noise and focus on the underlying energy. One of the most common forms of meditation used by practicing psychics is yoga.

Psychics also practice using tools that compliment their abilities. If you're psychic abilities are visionary, use images. If your abilities are sensory, then observe others using all five of your senses. The more you practice and work at it, the easier it will be to access your psychic side.

You should also make an effort to increase your awareness to your surroundings. Psychics are sensitive to their surroundings and one way to develop this is to take a few minutes every day with your eyes closed and try to notice as many smells, sounds, shapes and textures as possible.

The metaphysical study of numbers that helps a person understand significant personal characteristics and determine key moments for life decisions is called numerology. Numerologists, like psychics, take the information from a person's name and birth date to interpret the meanings of those items. However, in the case of numerology, the actual numeric totals of a name and birthday are the essential players, rather than just the date itself.

In some ways, numerology is the most straightforward of all the psychic arts. Calculating the value totals of names and birthdays is direct and simple. However, learning about yourself and applying what you learn through the functions of numerology, still requires an openness to change, self-awareness and personal giftings that some find difficult to pursue.

    The Essential Numbers

The numerology charts utilize only the single digit numbers one through nine, plus 11 and 22, which are considered the two Master Numbers. The master numbers intensify the characteristics of their single digit complements (2 and 4, respectively). The master numbers can indicate a higher degree of learning or skill in the characteristic areas, particularly under stress.

There are several kinds of numbers that numerologists use in a person's reading to help unfold his potential.

The Lifepath number is the sum total of your birthdate, which describes the overall characteristics of your personality and direction in life.

The Destiny number is the numeric total corresponding to the letters of your full, given name. It describes your tasks or life achievements as opportunities to reach your individual potential.

The Soul Urge or Heart's Desire number is your internal values and deepest desires. This is derived from the numerical total of only the vowels of your full given birth name.

The Inner Dreams number by corollary is the sum total of the consonants of your full given name, representing your fantasies or secret dreams. However, it is also connected with the first impressions people have of your personality.

The Birthday Number adds support to the Lifepath qualities, perhaps modifying, clarifying or expanding on some of the Lifepath traits your Lifepath number reveals. The birthday number is simply the day of the month on which you were born, with no reductions or calculations.

    Additional Functions of Numerology Readings

Numerologists can add layers of understanding to these core numbers with also discussing whole periodic segments of a person's life or the cycles associated with certain birth and lifepath numbers. Since humans are often creatures of seasons and habits, recognizing the repeating patterns of an individual's life and personality traits is useful for directing transitions, major decisions and changes in life as well.

Numerology readings are often used to help couples choose a name for a child, to seek guidance on mates that are good matches, or to determine career options. In addition to that, a skilled numerologist can use a reading to recommend good times in a person's lifepath or life period cycle to make major changes, geographic moves, job transitions or plan significant events like marriage. The functions of numerology vary according to each person, just as the numeric characteristics are unique to each distinct individual.

There are several different types of free psychics. If you are just beginning to explore the possibilities that are available to you for psychic guidance then you may find a free psychic is good place to start. If you are like many people, the first time that you visit a psychic you may be a bit skeptical. Sadly, with the number of charlatans who are just out to make a quick buck, your skepticism may not be totally unfounded. If you find a psychic who is willing to get you started for free, or one who just does it because they love it and don't want to make any money at it, then you may well be on your way to finding someone that you trust.

The first kind of free psychics are hobbyists. These are mediums who have realized that they have a gift and who do not need to rely on their ability to make a living. These are generally people who have an innate desire to the world become a better place. They feel that they can do their part by donating their time and skills to those who need them.

You will generally find that the hobbyist type of free psychic is very excited about what they do. With no ulterior motive, they have no need to be dishonest with people or to feel like they need to produce results even if they really aren't getting anything coming through. These people often practice in their homes and you'll find that they have created a safe and inviting setting for you to relax in. Often, they are just happy to have a chance to use their gifts in a way that is helpful to others. You may even find that you build a rapport with the person and a friendship can develop.

Another type of free psychic is one who is willing to do some reading for you for free initially, just so you can see that they are real. They are hoping to build confidence and a rapport with you so that you will come to them in the future when you have needs. Don't be naive to the fact that this is all about business. Just because it is business though, doesn't mean that the mediums don't do exceptional work and can't be trusted. In fact, they recognize that it is may be hard for some people to come to trust them, so they are willing to do whatever they need to do to show that they can help.

While not all are fictitious, you should always be careful when calling phone numbers that offer a first minute or so free. It will take 60 seconds just to find out your name and birthday and then the clock starts ticking. As a general rule, it is best to do psychic readings with preliminary free readings in person.

There are many different types of free psychic readings available. Some specialize in Tarot cards, while others may be gifted in the arts of astrology. It can be more difficult to find free readings in some of the more obscure psychic arts, such as the reading of runes or numerology.

If you are really interested in getting your feet wet with psychic guidance then there are way to find trustworthy people who will help you get started without charging you a fortune. With a little patience and some advice from friends, you can find a place where you are comfortable and you feel like your needs are being met. Remember, you are the customer and you should always be the top priority.

Article Title: Hiring a Caterer For Your Wedding That Provides Dessert Stations

The chances are that the caterer for your wedding will be quite familiar with dessert stations because they are becoming a very popular trend these days. There are many ways to incorporate dessert stations into your event, and when it comes to the types of desserts you serve, the possibilities can be virtually endless. This article will help you get a better understanding of what dessert stations are, what some food options might be, and how your wedding can benefit from them.

Dessert stations are typically set up like a buffet line. There will be an area in the room with buffet tables arranged to present the desserts you choose, and your guests will either be directed by the catering staff to take turns visiting the station or they will be able to visit the station at any time after dinner. Really, it's up to you how to have the dessert stations set up. Some couples choose to have their dessert station replace the traditional wedding cake entirely, some have it in addition to the cake, and some have their cake plated and presented at the dessert station alongside other dessert options. Depending on which route you choose to take, a dessert station could really save you money at your wedding, particularly if you choose to forego an expensive cake.

Start by asking your caterer if he or she has any dessert station specialties. Some caterers have chef-manned stations you can choose from. For example, you could have a sundae station, where the catering staff makes sundaes for each guest using the toppings they choose. This could also be done buffet-style where guests serve themselves. Chocolate fountains are also popular at weddings—you could have a variety of food items at the buffet table for dipping. Another popular dessert station trend is having several different kinds of bite-sized candies that guests can scoop into goodie bags, which could also serve as your guests' favors.

A benefit of dessert stations is that they allow you to express yourself. Breaking away from a traditional wedding cake allows you to choose a dessert that you really like or that means something to you both as a couple. Plus, when you do something that's different, it's sure to be more memorable for your guests. Dessert stations also give wedding guests the chance to get up out of their seats and socialize while they get their dessert. They could also give you the chance to get the party started earlier. Wedding receptions are over in the blink of an eye, and that's often because so much of the event is spent confined the dinner table. When your caterer provides a dessert station, though, you can kick off the party sooner and just allow your guests to visit the desserts at their leisure. Dessert stations are also great for complementing themed weddings. Valentine's Day weddings could feature a table of heart-shaped goodies, or a Halloween wedding could have a trick-or-treat theme for the dessert station. The possibilities are truly endless.

If you are shopping around for moving companies and looking for one that offers a wide range of services and will ensure that your items arrive at their destination in the best possible condition, you may be overwhelmed with the concept of having to choose one from the many dozens that serve your area. For example, you may be asking yourself, "Which mover offers the services I need?" Or, "Which one offers the best value for the money?" Another question you need to ask is, "Who is the most qualified to perform the type of move I need?" Of course, narrowing the field of potential movers from, say, 20 down to one may seem like as big a challenge as undertaking the move itself. However, there are a few tips that can help you zero in on the right moving company for you.

    These include:

Getting the most comprehensive quote – Notice that this says getting the "most comprehensive" quote, not the "cheapest" quote. While many people will hire a moving company solely on which one offers the lowest quote, this is simply a recipe for disaster in the end. Many times, when a move appears "cheap" on the surface, it is because the mover will offer a low, upfront bid to bait you into a deal and then load up on surcharges and fees once you are committed to the move. So, be sure the moving company you are considering conducts a thorough in-home estimation, and make sure you find out what, precisely, the quote does and does not cover.

Checking for Better Business Bureau (BBB) ratings – Ever hear of an A+ BBB business? That's not just a slogan, that's a sure sign a company that plasters that on their advertising is a highly reputable company that will do just about whatever it takes to keep you satisfied with their service. You can go online and check out how your local moving companies fare by perusing your region's BBB site, or you can contact each moving company and find out what their BBB ratings are. The highest possible rating the BBB awards is an A+, and you should definitely do a little more digging on any issues that would cause a company to have less than an A rating.

Find out how well they rank on consumer sites – Online consumer review websites are vitally important toward learning whether or not the moving company you're considering has a good track record with their previous customers. The subscription-based Angie's List is one of the most popular websites for learning more background information on how a company treats its customers; what makes Angie's List a particularly great consumer review site is that businesses are barred from writing about or rating themselves. If you choose not to spend money on Angie's List, there are plenty of free consumer review sites, including Yelp.

While finding just the right mover might take a little homework, your efforts will pay off when you find a moving company that can provide the custom solutions you need at a price that suits your budget.

Patient education is a multifaceted process by which physicians, nurses, and other health care providers pass along information to you as a patient. More specifically, two aspects of patient education that your health care providers will focus on include helping you better understand your condition and helping you learn ways to manage your symptoms. But, it's important to remember that patient education is also about your ability to take initiative and improve your knowledge of your condition, symptoms, and treatment options on your own.

    Understanding Your Condition

Once you've received a diagnosis regarding a specific condition, disease, or disability, your primary care physician (PCP) or another health care provider will likely be the first person who can help you better understand and mentally process this new information. Your PCP may choose to educate you with informational brochures or videos, or by simply having a conversation about your condition. It's important to ask as many questions as you can about aspects of your health condition that you are unsure of and inquire about how your lifestyle, medications, or other health issues may affect the recently diagnosed condition.

There are a variety of ways that you can learn more about your specific condition above and beyond what you learn from your PCP or health care provider. The Internet is a rich source of information, and it's likely that you'll come across plenty of articles and diagrams regarding your condition. Be sure to look at the websites of hospitals, non-profit organizations, and medical specialty associations.

Another great source of information is your local library. While doing research in a brick-and-mortar library seems antiquated compared to the digital library we all have at our fingertips, libraries are excellent places to find specifics about your condition. Along with books, don't forget to check out medical periodicals and journals that may discuss current studies or research based on your condition.

Learning How to Manage Your Symptoms

Asking your PCP and other health care providers to help you better understand your condition, as well as seeking information on your own, is just one important aspect of patient education. Another is learning about and implementing the treatments that can help you manage the symptoms associated with your condition.

Again, your PCP will be your best source for information and should be able to suggest the most appropriate treatments for your condition based on your specific case, your overall health, and other subjective factors. For example, if your PCP has diagnosed you with spinal arthritis, he or she may recommend over-the-counter or prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which can help reduce the inflammation affecting your spinal facet joints. However, if you suffer from certain cardiovascular or gastrointestinal conditions in addition to spinal arthritis, you may be unable to take NSAIDs, and your physician might prescribe an analgesic such as acetaminophen as an alternative.

You could also supplement your patient education experience by talking to others who have or had your condition and can recommend therapies that were effective for them. If you feel comfortable talking about your condition and symptoms, simply ask friends, family, and neighbors about their experiences with certain treatments. Don't forget that you should always consult with your PCP or a physician who is a specialist in treating your specific condition prior to starting any treatment method.

    Take Initiative

When it comes to your health, you should never be complacent or wait for someone else to make your health care decisions for you. If you feel that a health care provider is not offering appropriate patient education for your needs, seek additional medical opinions about your condition. Take time to read your insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare policy, and ask questions about things you don't understand. Taking a proactive role in your own health and seeking effective methods of patient education can help you better manage your condition.

Article Title: Innovative Techniques, Technologies & Tools Used in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Minimally invasive spine surgery is a relatively new surgical option for patients suffering from neck and back pain. The collection of procedures that are considered minimally invasive have the same goal of open spine surgery – to relieve pressure placed on the spinal cord and/or its nerve roots by removing all or a portion of the anatomical abnormalities causing compression – but achieves this goal by taking a far less invasive approach.

During open spine surgery, a surgeon makes large incisions and dissects muscle to open and gain access to the affected area of the neck or back, and patients must be hospitalized for several days. Minimally invasive procedures, on the other hand, use a variety of innovative surgical techniques, technologies, and tools to limit disruption to the spinal components while still decompressing neural structures to provide pain relief. These procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, so patients are up and walking around within a few hours following surgery.

    Dilating Tubes

A major aspect of minimally invasive surgery is the gentle separation, not dissection, of spinal muscles so a surgeon can access the spine. This is achieved by inserting a series of dilating tubes, one slightly larger in diameter than the one before it, into a small incision made in the neck or back.

The first dilating tube is used to bluntly separate soft tissues from the surface of the skin down to vertebral bone near the intended surgical site. The second tube, which is slightly larger, is passed over the first tube. Subsequent tubes are inserted in this fashion until the soft tissues are dilated to the desired diameter. A final tube or port, through which the minimally invasive surgery will take place, is inserted and all other, smaller dilating tubes are removed.

    Endoscopes

An endoscope, or a camera, is an important tool used in minimally invasive spine surgery. It typically consists of a rigid or flexible tube, a light source, and a lens.

An endoscope is funneled through the final port placed in a patient's neck or back. Once inside the port, the endoscope lens transmits an image from inside the spine to a screen so that the operating surgeon can view the affected area of the neck or back.

    Small Surgical Tools

Along with an endoscope, small surgical tools and aids – such as a laser, ronjeur, and burr – are funneled through the secured port and are used to cauterize soft tissues, as well as cut, remove, and smooth bone.

A laser is typically used to cauterize any remaining muscle fibers or ligaments that hinder access to the affected area of the spine. Cauterization helps prevent bleeding or oozing from the tissues. A laser is also sometimes used to cauterize portions of intervertebral disc material that may be compressing the spinal cord or nerve roots.

A ronjeur is an instrument with sharp, scissor-like edges with the ability to cut through bone. For example, during a minimally invasive procedure that accesses the spine from the posterior (backside) of the patient, a ronjeur would be used to cut through a portion of lamina, or the posterially located plate of vertebral bone that protects the spinal cord.

A burr is a type of drill that is used to smooth down bone spurs, which can also impinge spinal nerve tissues.

    Advantages

While some of these techniques, technologies, and tools have been used in surgical procedures for decades, the way in which they are used in minimally invasive procedures demonstrates an innovative and effective method of limiting disruption to the spinal components, particularly the spinal muscles.

As a result, patients who undergo minimally invasive procedures have less risk for infection and bleeding, are not hospitalized, and enjoy a faster, less painful postoperative recovery than what is associated with open spine surgery. Not all patients suffering from neck or back pain will be candidates for minimally invasive procedures, so patients should consult with their doctors and spine specialists to determine candidacy.
