Hospitals are very dangerous fire hazards. They use a high variety of inflammable and explosive chemicals and equipment plus a variety of electrical apparatuses. There generally are no open flames, smoking or incendiary devices allowed in a hospital, but mistakes can happen.

    Hospital Equipment

The key functions of the hospital can include devices and equipment that is highly susceptible to fire and electrical malfunctions. Radiology, biochemistry, pathology, laboratory, pharmacies, operating and patient rooms contain highly flammable devices and fumes and there are also storage facilities for hazardous chemicals as well as electrical distribution. If the hospital is on the list of med-flights, there are also helicopter engine fuels to consider.

    • Radiology contains film and high technology to diagnose x-rays. There are large electrical equipment devices that necessitate cords to be strung through walls and often across floors. Yet, the possibility of electrical shock is relatively low due to OSHA regulations and grounding requirements. You can take fire and electrical safety classes from HIPAA to know the proper measures in case of fire or electrical problems.

    • X-ray equipment is uses high voltage and must have the proper ventilation to guarantee machine cooling. There also needs to be a high fire rated construction materials in an x-ray room to keep the patients and staff safe. No combustible materials are allowed in the construction of the roof, walls or near electrical equipment. Fire regulations require that the x-ray room be a certain height and size to keep fire danger low.

    • To protect patient and staff there is absolutely no smoking in or around a hospital. Every patient room includes oxygen that is high flammable and even a small spark could set off a fire of catastrophic proportions. Rules and regulations require that oxygen be installed in out of the way places in the room, but there is always danger.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Operations which includes hospitals is not always posted, but there are basic guidelines that healthcare providers are aware of and trained in. Fire safety in a hospital is very important to patient protection and rules to fire and electrical safety in a hospital setting are:

    • Keep equipment in good working condition. Medical equipment fires and shorts are caused by faulty equipment or equipment that is outdated.

    • All wall sockets and plugs need to be tagged and identified. Hospitals have adopted different color codes and labeling to indicate usage or voltage.

    • Fire extinguishers and sprinklers need to always be in working order. The fire department in your area may have established a scheduled inspection time that occurs every week.

    • Evacuation plans must be current and posted. Detail who is responsible for which area and keep copies in every hall and corridor. Have safety drills, education and training.

Each hospital needs to set up exhaustive guidelines. Work with your local fire and electrical departments to get the most detailed guidelines you can. You may purchase fire and electrical guides from JCAHO.

Training in first aid is one of the most important parts of any medical education. You can take a HIPAA first aid course totally online and still receive a year certificate. Study at your own pace until you have mastered the basic concepts.

    First Aid Training

Topics that you need to learn when taking a first aid training course include knowing exactly what to do after an injury. For example after a head injury your patient may feel dizzy, nauseated and headachy. There may be accompanying neck pain; fatigue and depression and some patients report a ringing in their ears. Mild or moderate head injuries will require you to control the bleeding and apply clean dressings directly to the facial cut or the scalp injury. Apply ice for twenty minutes every two hours. If there is a headache administer acetaminophen. Any other type of medication will cause unusual bleeding.

Fractures can be common first air emergencies and there are several steps to take. One is to control the bleeding if it is an open fracture. Rinse, clean and dress the wound as best you can. Make sure the patient is breathing, calm them down and scan for other injuries. Bring the open wound and bone break under control by applying ice to reduce the pain and swelling. Never rub the affected area or try and unbend the broken bone. Do not in any circumstance try to move the patient without support to the break. Do not manipulate the joints above or below the fracture and avoid giving the patient anything to eat.

Bleeding is always a cause for alarm and a trip to the first aid kit. To treat minor bleeding simple washing and bandaging the wound is generally sufficient. Make sure, however before you handle any type of open wound you wash and sanitize your hands. Run cold water over the minor wound and clean out any dirt particles.

Severe bleeding is a medial emergency and first aid actions focus on applying pressure to the wound to control bleeding. You may also need to treat for shock by having the patient lie down and covering them with a blanket. Call the doctor or a hot line for consultation if infections or circulation problems develop.

Internal bleeding should be suspected after major traumas and the best first aid you can administer in this case is keeping the patient quiet and warm. Suspect internal bleeding if the patient coughs up blood, bleeds form the nose, rectum or ears. If a patient has bruising on the chest and if there is abdominal tenderness or swelling; get help immediately.

Staying healthy requires that anyone who is around people get first aid training. You can sign up for free classes at your local fire station, community center or community college. You will learn the best practices for initial treatment of head injuries, burns, electrical shock, poisoning, cuts and scrapes as well as seizures and strokes and heart attacks. It is also good to keep up training on a yearly basis.

Handling hazardous materials involves different operations and depends on the type of material you need to handle and store. Hazardous materials include dangerous wastes that use materials that have properties rending them harmful to human health. Hazardous materials can include chemicals, substances that are by products of manufacturing, heavy metals, as well as household products like cleaning fluids and old batteries. Medical wastes are considered highly hazardous and there are special techniques for handling medical hazardous materials.

    Types of Medical Waste

Medical waste that is generated at health care facilities needs to be contained and handled in a specific manner according to the type of waste. Medical waste handling rules and procedures are recognized by hospitals, clinics, blood banks, dental practices, and veterinary clinics. All research facilities and laboratories also have specific hazardous waste and material handling rules.

In 1988, medical waste was defined as solid waste generated in treatment, immunization and diagnosis for human beings and animals. Any research facility that tests biological materials is also covered. The items that need to be disposed of correctly include:

    • Bandages that are blood soaked

    • Culture dishes and other glassware used in lab testing

    • Surgical gloves, surgical instrument

    • Needles used to give immunizations, shots or draw blood (medical sharps)

    • All stocks, swabs, and cultures used to inoculate

    • Removed body organs such as limbs, appendices, tonsils, gall bladder stones and so forth

    • All discarded and used lancets.

    Discarding Hazardous Materials

If waste needles and other sharps are not disposed of properly there is a health danger to the public. Thrown away needles may contain a risk of needle stick wounds that can cause bloodborne pathogen infections as well as other serious infectious disease contaminations. There is also the risk of potential infections when cases break open inside trash bags or when needles are sent to reconditioning facilities by mistake.

The Coalition for Safe Community Needle Disposal, which is comprised of business and community groups plus government and medical workers, promotes awareness and solutions for the safe disposal of syringes, needles and other medical sharps.

It is imperative that safe disposal and handling program be implemented. Instead of throwing away sharp items (aka "sharps") and needles in the trash, you are required to use certain containers and/or mail back programs.

    • Drop boxes or supervised collection sites allow sharps users to utilize a red sharps container for used needles disposal. There are collection sites in doctor's offices, pharmacies, health departments or hospitals. Some fire stations also accept sharps containers destined for disposal.

    • Mail back programs are available for sharps users to place their used needles and sharps in special containers and mail the back to the manufacturer. This is a fee based service and fees do vary depending on the size of your container.

    • There are syringe exchange programs that allow sharps users to interchange used needles for new needles. These programs can be found by searching for syringe exchange on the Internet.

However you handle your hazardous medical waste, remember that improperly discarding sharps, needles and syringes can constitute a health risk. Stay healthy by learning how to handle hazardous medical waste.

OSHA or the Occupational Safety & Health Administration in Washington, DC has specific requirements and procedures to follow in the event of a hazard in a medical facility. To allow staff to recognize these standards and procedures there are specific training classes that need to be taken concerning the categories of chemicals and how they are to be disposed cleaned up, reported and policies outlined.

    Rules and Procedures

Minor chemical spills require that spill areas be evacuated immediately. This includes any chemicals required to clean up or take care of medical equipment. During clean up procedures prohibit general entry and contact your in house OSHA compliance officer.

Blood and or body fluids require the cleaning staff to wear personal protective equipment which includes eye protection and gloves. Use paper towels to soak up the spills and use a red biohazard bag as the waste receptacle. When the spill is absorbed and towels thrown away spray the area with strong disinfectant. Let the disinfectant soak for at least 15 minutes then wipe dry with paper towels. Discard these paper towels in red biohazards bags and throw away all gloves and paper gowns used in cleaning up. Thoroughly wash and disinfect your hands. Make a complete record of everything you have done in regards to clean up and send it to the proper OSHA compliance officer in the clinic.

    Communication Procedures

Hazardous Communication Standards are applicable to certain drugs, chemical accidents as well as blood and human fluid spills. A hazardous chemical is described as any chemical that causes physical harm or is a health hazard. Blood and human fluid hazards come from broken vials, containers or the patient.

All employers need to develop maintain, and implement a workplace written hazard communication program for those who handle or are exposed to chemicals, drugs, and body fluids. This written program outlines how the criteria specified in the Communications Standards concerning labels and warnings, plus MSDS, employee information and training will be handled.

    • A list of all hazardous drugs present in the building will be listed using an identify number that matches the MSDS.

    • Methods used by an employer to inform employees of hazards in the workplace.

    • Written hazard communication program is available to employees and their designated representatives plus the Assistant Secretary of OSHA.

    Communication Work Plan

Ensuring that everyone is informed of the policies and procedures of a hazardous waste problem, OSHA has mandated that a workplan be developed. The first step is to establish a chain of command and determine who carries out the safety and health program and how to report problems.

    • Supervisor and employee responsibilities and exact means of communication in case of a hazardous event.

    • The name of the person who supervises the hazardous waste operations.

    • The clinic site supervisor who has responsibility for developing the communication and compliance program.

All communication programs must have a complete list of tasks and objectives and the resources needed to take care of hazards. There needs to be written communication for anticipated clean-up, full definitions of work tasks and methods of carrying out these tasks. Communications channels and implementation for training, medical surveillance requirements and information seminars also need to be outlined. Communication in the event of a hazardous event must be in writing, sent to the proper division of OSHA, and posted in staff areas.

Search engine optimization is a way to allow search engines to see your material and rank it higher on the list. SEO consists of producing formatted information and embedding it into your page.

The more people that search your keyword, the more that will see your page and what you have to offer. MLM leads can greatly increase by using this method.

    Blogging

A blog is a chronologically ordered website that posts members most recent material on the top of the page. The key to creating a relevant blog and generating leads from those blogs is to continue to add useful material to it and consistently evaluate your site.

By adding links from your blog to your business you create a bridge that will allow readers to simply access your business with the click of a button. MLM Leads can be found through very different ways of gaining the consumers attention. Some ways work and some do not.

A particular strategy that has been shown to have less success is by spamming. Sending emails to random people in hope of new MLM leads can lead to a lot of hard work for a very minimal amount of progression. Finding a target group and offering them valuable and relevant information is the best way to find new and targeted MLM leads.

You have decided that you want to go into photography or that you just want to take better photographer. This is a great timing. The tips in this article that follows will make you a total ace with the camera.

Choose carefully what will show in your shot. A good photo is like a little window that shows one view of your subject. Don't try to show too much within each picture. To give an overview of a subject, shoot a series of photos, instead of a single shot that may not have all of the details.

Taking pictures in natural settings should be done carefully. Take a few minutes to enjoy the scene, as well as to make sure that you are leaving no traces. If you discover a beautiful location to take pretty pictures, make sure your leave the spot the way you found it so the next photographer can get a picture as good as yours.

A sunset is the traditional method for creating a silhouette, but a lot of photographers just use sunsets. If your background is much brighter than your subject, a silhouette may appear behind the focal point. Just keep in mind that the outline of a body or face can highlight an unflattering feature on your subject to be highlighted.

Think of shot you start taking photos. Photography is just like art; it shows when attention to detail and details are executed.

Make sure that your arms remain next to your body when you hold a camera, while keeping your arms tucked tightly into the sides of your body. This keeps the camera steady your hands and prevent blurry shots. Putting your hands underneath the camera and lens, instead of on top, prevents you from dropping your camera accidentally.

Red eye can totally ruin a great picture that could have gotten framed otherwise. Avoid red-eye by not using flash, or if you have to have it, do not have the subject look directly at the camera. Many cameras have a feature to eliminate red eye feature.

The higher the ISO value, the more detail you can see, which translates into grainy prints. This can ruin your pictures unless the image requires that look.

This means you need to focus on things to do with exposure, like aperture, film speed, and shutter speed. Learn about exposure to improve your photography.

Most digital cameras have a flash that automatically deploys when the light is dim. This is good for a quick spur of the moment picture, but if you want more professional results, try investing in a type of external flash unit that will give you a broad range of light.

If you don't practice your photography skills, you can't ever get better. Digital photography has opened up a whole new type of photography. Now that there is no problem with wasted film, it is much easier to take dozens of pictures, you can experiment freely and learn from your mistakes.

Use your photographic abilities to take pictures from a variety of angles, with different lighting and various subjects. Even if you were fairly knowledgeable before, you are probably an expert now! Applying techniques used by other photographers and experimenting with your own style is the best way to become a better photographer.

One of the newest trends in decorating for homeowners interested in Eco-friendly ideas is carpet tiles. These unique products were first created for installation in commercial offices. The modern materials are crafted from bio-products which make them a good solution for today's homes.

With the wide variety of colors, patterns and themes, carpet tiles have become a preferred choice for minimalist interior design. They allow you to make a space that will reflect your personality with complementary carpet tiles for any room of the house.

It is easy to see that there are many benefits to using carpet tiles when they are put up against traditional carpeting techniques. There is no expensive padding to buy because you can lay them right over the sub-flooring. You won't find any warping, shifting or moving with these tiles when you install them according to directions.

While it is unlikely that you will need to replace any of these tiles due to damage, it is good to know that you can do this for yourself. Carpet tiles can be found with adhesive backing and others that are dry-backed. Installation is simple in either case, and all you have to do is pull the paper off the adhesive backed kind or add a special adhesive or two-sided tape to the dry-backed ones.

Something else you will notice is that there is little waste with the easy installation. Tiles are typically tested for their antistatic properties and durability and they are easy to maintain.

Some homeowners test this product with bathroom installation using their DIY abilities. That is because it has a smaller area to cover and has come awkward shapes. When using this technique they generally find that they can enhance their decorating budget.

Carpet tiles aren't as dense as traditional carpets, so they can easily work in a high-traffic area. Since most falls happen in the bathroom, you will reduce risk of falling drastically by installing carpet tiles. Note that experts discourage installing carpet tile in basement bathrooms unless they were treated with mold resistance to discourage the growth of mildew.

Kitchens pop with sophistication when bold colored carpet tiles are used. They incorporate the warmth and style of traditional carpeting, with the durability and clean-ability of a tiled kitchen floor. The kitchen is another accident-prone room, making carpet tiles a practical and cost-effective choice.

Dust and dirt are easy to remove with a vacuum, and stubborn stains are easy to rinse away by lifting the offending tile and washing it off in the sink. Just allow it to dray and replace it for an easy solution.

Your kid's bedrooms will take on a whole new dimension when you decorate the floors with carpet tiles. Unique patterns like "Happy Landings", featuring an airplane or "Raining Cats and Dogs" in "Orange Thunder" or "Blue Sky" create a bright and happy bedroom for your child.

If your home is equipped with a media room, it might be a shock to find that carpet tiles can absorb sounds. If you want to reduce reverberations and echoes, the perfect solution is adding acoustic flooring. You might even enjoy being able to crank up the sound on your favorite movies and tunes without worrying about disturbing others in the house.

There are numerous benefits to musicians when using carpet tiles to insulate the home studio. They help optimize the acoustic environment. They will help hold the sound from your music within the walls of studio even if you are a drummer!

When your decision is to use carpet tiles to improve your home dcor, bear in mind that you should choose products that are friendly to the environment. It will not take long for you to check for the CRI Indoor Air Quality label to find the right products. If you can find them look for mill overruns and keep these from going to a landfill.

Dress length is a funny thing. There never seems to be a right or a wrong, even across many decades of fashion change the length of dresses has been a subject of much debate, deliberation, opinion and shock.

Of course it always tends to be the preserve of the short dress to attract the most comment and length is a sure-fire way for any designer to attract attention or create a stir. There's a typical cycle here that tends to repeat itself at regular intervals. A new design of shockingly short dress makes its appearance either on the catwalk or in a popular film, worn by an attractive and slim celebrity. The press makes a feature of it, commercial brands copy the style and the masses flock in their thousands to try out the style, hoping in some way to engender the same aura of said celebrity and create a similar look. As adoption increases, many less attractive wearers are seen out and about and the style starts to lose its appeal. Fashion leaders regard the style as having had its day and move on. All that is quickly forgotten and soon after the cycle starts again.

Even though this cycle continues to repeat itself today, the original lap of this well-worn circuit can be traced back to the 1960's, when post-war austerity had all but disappeared, living standards were improving and the general outlook on life by the masses was one of optimism, independence and happiness. Fashion was moving quickly into a new era of bolder colours, bolder fabric patterns, bolder dress designs and a bolder approach to dress length. The appearance of the very short dresses as worn by the likes of Twiggy, eventually made there way onto our screens, into our magazines and onto the shop racks fairly late in the decade, but they arrived soon enough to adopt the "sixties" name and will forever be remembered as such.

Although new versions of the slim-cut, colourful mini dress are still sold today, the way these dresses are worn now is different. Although many young women would claim to be confident enough to go out in such a short length, we are unfortunately tending to a slightly fuller body form these days. The streets are no longer awash with slim, leggy twenty-somethings as the problem of obesity affects our society. The mini dress is still popular though, even though the way it is worn may not include the pure sixties preference for bare legs and strappy sandals. The mini dress may be worn over woollen tights or even over jeans to bring a stylistic colour burst to an otherwise dull combination.

And nothing works better than dressing up a plain modern pair of jeans than a sixties original. Made from retro nylon or cotton fabrics, with bold, but slightly faded colours, the mini sixties can become a talking point, especially if it originates back to one of the popular designers of the day.

About The Author: Retro fashion like 60s dresses are always in demand and the best place to find them, according to Rosie, is in vintage clothing outlets like http://www.rokit.co.uk/ in London. She follows the vintage fashion trends and had all kinds of tips for retro fashion lovers.

There are not many jackets that have kept a place in our hearts as long as the original Levi's denim jacket. Of course other jackets may spring to mind such as the Harrington, the Parka, the Duffell or the leather bomber, but have any of them sold in such volume and been featured in film, television and music culture as much as the Levi's denim?

It's interesting to consider why this jacket first became popular and how, over so many decades, it has managed to keep its legendary aura, remaining a favourite and avoiding the ups and downs of many fashion trends.

Part of the jacket's attractiveness is its durability and usefulness. Made from top quality Levi's denim material – a fabric that has also managed to secure a high opinion amongst fashion experts, despite facing many attempts by young pretenders to undercut it – it is easy to wear, comfortable in a range of temperatures and lends itself as an accessory to various fashion directions. It's worn as a practical work item by many, including of course the original cowboy ranchers who feature in so many of the Levi's advertisements, yet it can also find a place in more dressy situations, offering a shabby chic alternative to more flamboyant and colourful items. Although the material itself has avoided and rebuffed any attempt to add new technology developments, such as "stretchiness" or "waterproofness", it seems to continue as a work garment despite some short comings. It doesn't provide much in the way of warmth, wind protection or have the ability to withstand more than a quick shower, but it works as a layering garment above a thermal layer or beneath a waterproof outer. And when the rain stops it's easy to revert to denim cool.

The design of the Levi's denim jacket is also something that has been a stable, long-standing feature. Not much changes here, with the same cut, same pocket provision, same waist adjusters, same everything really. Length is standard too, and while it may not ideally suit some body sizes, the wearers don't seem to care – the legend of the jacket is enough to overcome that minor problem, although if it wasn't a Levi's version it probably wouldn't. "Wait!" I hear you say, "I've seen longer length denim coats, with furry collars and badge appliqué". That may be so, but either they were custom one-offs, on the shelves for a short-lived appearance then gone forever, or they were third party copies by competitors attempting to extend the style into new and potentially profitable areas. But such is the power of the brand, and Levi's is one of the strongest and well-protected brands out there, customers were never really happy in anything other than the original.

Levi's have also been very clever and reliable in terms of pricing. These jackets were never available at giveaway prices, rarely discounted in sales or promotions, yet were also never regarded as expensive. Yes, they may have cost more than a range of alternatives, but customers were always prepared to pay the premium for the brand and quality advantage.

That quality has also brought an additional benefit. The survival rate of these jackets is incredible. Where other denim brands tends to lose their shapr and colour in unattractive ways, a used Levi's denim jacket seems to improve with age and that's why you can find a selection of them in many secondhand and vintage clothing stores. They've also proved to be a wise investment too, as they also hold their value over time. What you pay for a vintage version today, may be largely recoverable in a few years time if you decide to pass your treasured Levi's denim onto another careful owner.

About The Author: Nothing beats a Levi's denim jacket when it comes to illustrating the allure of vintage fashion. And the best place to find one is in vintage clothing outlets like http://www.rokit.co.uk/ and other established stores. Rosie's knowledge of fashion is vast and she a special interest in retro clothing.

    Venture Capitalists

    What is a venture capitalist?

A venture capitalist is an individual who makes investments in businesses before the firm goes public. In addition to bringing money to the business venture, capitalists usually bring managerial and business-specific talent to the business, and will take assume equity and generally a board seat in return for investment in the business.

What is a venture capital fund?

A venture capital fund is a pool of financial capital, managed by a firm which invests in businesses often considered too risky for a bank to lend to or for an average investor to invest in.

What is a pool fund and why is it used?

A pool fund in VC terms is a fund that, much like a mutual fund, invests its money in several different firms rather than investing all of its money in only one firm. This format reduces risk to investors and creates a greater average upside return.

In what type of businesses to VC firm typically invest?

Although technology firms have been highly favored by many venture capitalists, VC businesses often consider all types of businesses in which they can acquire some expertise-- as long as the firm's investment requirements are met. These details were discussed in another article.

At what stage of a business do the VC firms expect to earn a profit?

Given a choice, every VC firm would like to generate profits as soon as money is invested but, realistically, that rarely happens. Most VC firms expect to show a profit within a couple of years and rarely expect to exit an investment before three years. They do expect to exit before the seven year mark.

What type of returns do VC firms look for?

VC firms look for a minimum 40% annual rate of return from their investment. Realize they expect a return "of" and a return "on" capital invested.

In what type of businesses do VC firms want to invest?

VC firms want to invest in businesses with novel technologies which have the ability to revolutionize the industries in which they invest. This can range from food production to technology all the way to manufacturing. VC firms want returns. The category of investment from which these firms derive their return is not as important as would be expected.

    Some VC firms invest in:

    • Start-up companies or new ideas, and/or

    • Local or regional companies, preferring not to venture too far from territory they understand

    • Underperforming companies, and/or

    • Specific industries such as health care or manufacturing

Examples of businesses that can revolutionize an industry:

    • Google – offers an innovative searching capability

    • McDonalds – Standardized fast food when there were few fast food chains.

    • Wal-Mart – Lower price retailer offering almost every item an average family needs. Wal-mart started in small communities, established a large foothold throughout the US and eventually moved into larger markets when prices were low enough and retailing skills were high enough.

    • Automobiles operating on hydrogen, derived from water, rather than petroleum.

    Venture Capital Firm Structure

A venture capital firm is typically formed as a partnership with a general partner(s) (GP(s)) and limited partners (LP(s)).

    • General partners manage the firm, control investor monies and the businesses in which they invest. GPs may incur unlimited financial risk if a business fails and can be liable for some corporate debts.

    • Limited partners provide money to the VC firm to be invested and their risk is limited to the amount of money they place with the firm to be invested.

Many VC firms legally structure their firms as LLCs (limited liability corporations) in efforts to minimize risk to the partners.

Where go VC firms get investment money?

VC firms receive money from their investments from accredited investors, high net worth individuals, pension funds, insurance companies, university endowments, and- on occasion, from hedge funds.

    What is an accredited investor?

In 1933, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had a change in administration and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt wanted safeguards put into place inhibiting stock manipulation and stock fraud which had occurred throughout the 1920s.

The SEC mandated that some investments required accredited investors which, in general, are individuals who have some expertise in an area and, if an individual, a net worth of at least $1 million and an annual salary of $200,000 for the past two years or $300,000 in the past two years if including a spouse (2012). The accredited investors must expect to earn the same income or more the following year.

There are some types of investments in which the SEC will only allow accredited investors to invest, including very high risk investments such as venture capital, limited partnerships, private placements (both stock and/or real estate related), hedge funds, and seed money investments.

Accredited investors generally include high net worth individuals, insurance company investment funds, banks, some types of endowments, and corporations.

    Types of Venture Capital Funds

Let's do a quick review of the types of venture capital funds. VC firms differ in their investment approaches. Some companies

    • Invest for a quick turnaround, by going public—selling within the public equities markets

    • Invest for the long-term, planning for slower growth, but strong tax benefits

    • Invest in new ideas

    • Invest only in their areas of expertise

    • Invest anywhere in the world, as long as potential profits are strong

    • Invest in fledgling and start-up companies

    • Invest in established and profitable companies that need expansion assistance

    • Invest only in certain, defined industries

    • Invest only locally or regionally

    • Invest only nationally

    • Invest only internationally

    Venture Capital Firm Players

Venture capitalists (VCs) usually come from a finance or an operational experience background. It is, in fact, surprising how many VC firms have at least one Harvard MBA with investment banking or corporate finance experience working at them. They almost all have consultants or partners with heavy experience in the fields in which the company invests.

Although the titles are not entirely uniform from firm to firm, other positions also exist at

    VC firms.

Typical positions and background information for fast track VC personnel:

    1. Partners

    a. This is the top-level position within the firm.

    b. Partners almost always own part of the company and may, in fact, be a founder.

    2. Principals

    a. This is generally a mid-level position.

    b. The incumbent is normally being considered for partner.

    c. Most principals will be promoted from within, after extensive experience.

    d. May have investment banking or related-category management consulting experience.

    3. Senior Associate

    a. Incumbents can hold Low to Mid-Level Positions.

    b. Anticipate being considered for Principal.

    c. Hired from within or outside the firm, based on category or financial background.

    d. Expected to have 5 plus years' category management consulting experience or investment banking experience.

    e. They are generally involved in and mentored in investment decisions in an attempt to "bring person along."

    4. Associate

    a. Lower-level position.

    b. With seasoning and professional maturity, may move into Senior Associate position.

    c. Hired from within or outside, based on category or financial background.

    d. Usually possesses 1-2 years related category management consulting experience or investment banking experience.

    5. Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR)

    a. Almost always specific category experts.

    b. Perform critical due diligence for firms in that category.

    c. Usually time-limited employed (less than 2 years) by VC firm.

    d. Locate and present start-up ideas to VC firm.

    e. Eventually could be hired by the VC firm as a Senior Associate or higher.

    Why Venture Capitalists? (Again…)

Many people come up with brilliant ideas but lack the capital to put them into practice.

Writers maintain that even an average person can come up with an idea so outstanding that if the person followed up and made it work, they would become wealthy. Because of their expertise in a related field, VC firms help the idea person start their business, and through mentoring and financial assistance, bring that idea to fruition.

This mentoring is crucial because VC firms may have enormous experience in a dozen businesses similar to the one the "idea person" has developed, and know what will and will not work.

Of course the firm is handsomely rewarded for those inputs.

Key Points of How Funds Are Structured

    • Most VC funds are designed to last between 8-12 years (with 10 years being the norm) depending on how quickly the fund can be liquidated after maturation and the need for the investment in the company's liquidity.

    • The investment cycle usually lasts at minimum three years and usually extends to seven years or longer if the company has "gone public."

    • It can take a few days up to several years to raise sufficient money from limited partners to provide enough money for their fund.

    • A fund is considered "closed" after the target amount of money has been raised, and the life of the fund then begins with a predetermined end date.

    • A firm may have a partial close when part of the money has been raised.

Marketing is the process of planning and executing strategies that helps develop ideas, goods and services to create exchange that satisfies individual and organizational objectives. Building comprehensive and effective marketing plans can be complex and confusing if not properly handled. The aim of this article is to help marketers and business owners identify the various aspects of a marketing plan and the most important "decision points" so as to help them produce better marketing plans that are consistent with their business and marketing objectives.

The marketing mix is the basic tool set of the marketer. It consist of the 4P's of marketing (some textbooks and journals say 7P's). The 4P's are the vital points to consider when making marketing decisions about products and services. They are

    • Product

    • Price

    • Place

    • Promotion

    Product:

the existence of a business organization is generally because it has some product, service or idea to offer consumers, generally in exchange for money. This offering may be in form of goods, services or a cause. The marketing professional or business owner must adequately define and position his product in the market place by making valuable product decisions such as:

    • Brand name

    • Product features

    • Symbolic features

    • Social and psychological meaning

    • Guarantees and warrantees

    • Packaging

The various "decision points" have great effects on the overall marketing of the product or service. The packaging represents the first exposed part of the product, thus it is very important that the packaging makes an impression. The social and psychological meaning of the product makes the product appealing beyond its physical features, an example is Nike products.

    Price:

the price refers to what consumers must give up to purchase a product or service. The factors that affect the price of a product/service are: cost, demand factors, competition and perceived value.

    • Cost: the cost of production of a product or service determines the lowest amount that the product can be sold for, as profitable business means selling a product at a price higher than it cost to produce the product.

    • Demand factors: the demand for the product/service tends to increase or decrease the price of the product/service. This is in tune with the theory of demand: "the higher the price, the higher the quantity demanded". The forces of demand and supply can alter the price of the goods or service; this is frequently observed in the oil industry. With the constant tensions in the Middle East and Niger Delta affecting the supply of oil which subsequently affects the price of crude oil.

    • Competition: the competition in an industry often use price as a tool to position their product, or gain market share. The price of a good cannot be considered in isolation, it is either higher or lower than the price of the competitor's goods and thus serves as a tool for positioning, gaining market share and fighting competitors.

    • Perceived value: the perceived value of a generic product and also a particular brand tends to affect the price placed on the product/service eg a snickers bought from Nike is appreciably more expensive than that from a local shoe store because the consumer perceives a greater quality for Nike products than for the local stores'.

    Place:

the way a marketer or business owner makes her products/services available for purchase is very important. An excellent product that is very difficult to access and purchase is of little value. The channels of distribution of a product/service can be offline (use of middle men and resellers) and online (eg Amazon, Jumia, Ebay etc.). the marketer or business owner must make business decisions regarding the selection, managing and motivation of intermediaries(wholesalers, retailers and resellers) or use direct channels(sell to its customers from its own stores).

    Promotion:

the promotional mix can be targeted at the channel members, motivating them to stock the product (promotional push strategy) or at the final consumer through advertising and sales promotion. This will create demand among consumers and encourage them to request the product from the retailer.

The various tools that can be used to explicitly communicate the product/service to consumers or channel members are sales promotion, advertising, direct marketing, public relations, digital marketing and personal selling. These tools can be used to differentiate, remind, inform and persuade consumers about the product/service offerings of a business.

When "American Graffiti" came out in 1973, not only was it a huge critical and box-office hit but it also became an instant classic. Critics marveled over how perfectly director George Lucas captured the era of the film's action, which is set in 1962. It made Lucas an overnight success and gave him enough clout to get "Star Wars" made just a couple of years later. Although some tout the film as the one that made the legendary "Star Wars" franchise possible, "American Graffiti" is a slice of Americana that deserves its own place in movie history. It is fun to watch and infinitely quotable, making it hard to pare its great quotes down to just five.

"Hey man, I'm sorry if I scared ya!"

Falfa (Harrison Ford) pulls up alongside Milner (Paul Le Mat) and Carol (Mackenzie Phillips) to try and goad him into a race. This is actually the start of a very funny series of exchanges between the two rivals, who take turns insulting the other one's car. Milner implies that Falfa has a field car, which is used to drop manure on farms. Falfa says that Milner's car has an ugly, puke-like paint job and that the vehicle belongs to his mother. These taunts are taken seriously because both men have hot rods that they value, so any insult against their cars would be worse than a personal insult.

"Your car is uglier than I am! That didn't come out right."

Carol sits quietly as Falfa and Milner trade barbs about their cars, until she feels that Milner needs some help, which is when she yells "Your car is uglier than I am!" at Falfa. He virtually ignores Carol because she is younger than he and Milner, though he does make a quick quip about her age. It doesn't take poor Carol long to regret what she said, but the damage is done.

"You know, it doesn't make sense to leave home to look for home, to give up a life to find a new life, to say goodbye to friends you love just to find new friends."

Laurie (Cindy Williams) and Steve (Ron Howard) are having a discussion about what their mutual friend Curt (Richard Dreyfuss) said earlier that night while they were eating dinner. Curt clearly isn't sure what he wants to do with his life yet and would rather stay home and go to junior college instead of going far away to a traditional college. Unlike Steve, who has ached to get out of Modesto for years, Curt doesn't seem to be in any hurry to leave. This quote underscores the growing chasm between sweethearts Laurie and Steve, as well as between Curt and Steve. It also keeps with one of the themes of the films, which is about adulthood and expectations of teenagers who clearly aren't ready for the responsibilities of adulthood.

"Somebody wants me. Somebody's who's out there, roaming the streets, wants me ... Would you turn the corner?"

Curt is in the backseat of Steve's car, playing the third wheel as Steve and Laurie cuddle in the front seat. As they pull up to a stop light, Curt turns to his right and sees a gorgeous blonde woman in a pristine car, who smiles at him. She mouths something to him and then turns right as the light turns. Curt is immediately smitten, declaring that he just saw "the most perfect, dazzling creature," who then turned right. He implores Steve to turn around so that they could go after her car, because he is pretty sure that she mouthed the words "I love you" to him. He can't believe that someone out there, especially a beauty like that mysterious woman he's just seen at the lights, would want him.

"It only took me one night to realize if brains were dynamite you couldn't blow your nose."

Although "American Graffiti" came out in 1973, this insult is still in use four decades later to imply that someone is dumb. The insult is uttered by Debbie (Candy Clark), who is mad at Vic (Joe Spano), a lout who had previously promised he would call her but never did. Vic tries his best to apologize and win her over, but Debbie is now in the company of Terry (Charles Martin Smith). She thinks Terry is much nicer than Vic, who only wants her for one thing. She lights a cigarette, throws the still-lit match at Vic's shoes, and then turns her attention to Terry after her very satisfying and insulting exchange with the cad. In response, Terry walks away promising to call her only if he is "hard up."

    Length: 111 minutes

    Release Date: Aug. 19, 2010

    Directed by: Baran bo Odar

    Genre: Crime/Drama/Thriller

    Stars: 3.5 out of 5

In present-day rural Germany, a young girl named Sinikka (Anna-Lena Klenke) goes missing in an otherwise picturesque wheat field. Her bike is found in the same position and area that another young girl's bike was found twenty-three years earlier. That girl, Pia (Helene Doppler), was raped and murdered by Peer (Ulrich Thomsen) as his friend Timo (Wotan Wilke Möhring) looked on in horror and arousal. Timo splits town before Peer can swear him to silence, not to be seen again until Sinikka is reported missing.

Once news of her disappearance begins to surface, so do the people involved in Pia's case from the 1980s. Timo is now married with two children and has seemingly buried his secret so deeply that not even his wife or friends know what happened in that wheat field. He is sure Peer is behind Sinikka's disappearance but can't go to the police lest he be arrested for being an accomplice to Pia's murder. The cop who couldn't solve Pia's case, Krischan (Burghart Klaußner), is still haunted by his inability to find Peer. Pia's mother, Elana (Katrin Sass), still jogs by the wheat field every morning, unable to let her grief go.

The officer assigned to the case, David (Sebastian Blomberg), is also grieving, having recently lost his wife to cancer. He can barely handle reality, much less the case, so he enlists Krischan to help him, since there are eerie similarities between the current case and Pia's. The fact that Sinikka's body hasn't been found gives them a faint ray of hope that she could still be alive, unlike Pia. The two cops begin to work relentlessly to make sense of the clues, as Sinikka's anxious family and a tortured Timo are ready to spill secrets that could bust the case wide open.

"The Silence" has a fairly large ensemble cast, since there are characters from two different time periods that have all come together on a collision course in the present. Despite the large amount of characters, there isn't a single weak performance in the bunch. All the actors are stellar across the board, which just adds to the richness of the film. Particularly touching is Sass as Elana, Pia's still-grieving mother, who can't seem to move on despite the fact that her daughter's body was found and laid to rest. Watching the old memories get dredged up by the new case is an emotional punch to the gut that brings back a flood of bad memories for Elana, who deserves to be free of her grief more than anyone in the film.

One of the things that "The Silence" does particularly well is to show the grief of the families of the victims. Too often, movies in the crime genre focus on the investigation and detectives on the case. If there is any family grieving to be shown, it is generally the family of the lead detective, who doesn't get to see him or her very often because of long hours of investigative work on the case. The family of the dead or missing is usually not the focus, which is a shame, since there is so much drama to be mined there. "The Silence" gives ample time to both the family of the missing girl and forlorn mother of the first victim from two decades earlier. These scenes are sometimes moody, sometimes touching, and always heartbreaking in their quiet desperation. They serve to make the audience want the cases to be solved even more, giving them a vested interest in the outcome of the film.

The ending is a bit of a surprise, because so many possibilities are thrown into play due to the clever screenplay. At some point or another in the narrative, almost everyone becomes a suspect, not just the obvious characters like Peer. With so many family secrets trickling out like the sweat on their heat-ridden brows, it is almost impossible for viewers to decide exactly what the ending will be. This helps ratchet up the tension as the film slowly wades through one tense scene after another until it gets to its ultimate conclusion. Odar has pulled off the rare feat of being able to write and direct his own film without losing sight of what works. Too many times a writer/director is so immersed in the story that he or she overlooks some aspects of the film because he or she is too familiar with the narrative. That doesn't happen here, as Odar has crafted a satisfying film with enough emotional resonance to stay with audiences even after the film is over.

Although greenhouses are used to grow many types of plants, many people enjoy growing fruits and vegetables that can be enjoyed while saving money on grocery bills. If you're new to gardening, you may be wondering which fruits and vegetables will grow best inside a greenhouse. Regardless of outside climate conditions, plants can be grown inside a greenhouse all year long. As you're deciding what to grow in your greenhouse, here are some excellent suggestions for both fruits and veggies that grow well in greenhouses.

Fruits to Grow in a Greenhouse

Fruits are often grown in separate greenhouses, and while they thrive well in their own greenhouses, they also can be productively grown with other crops as well, such as vegetables. The following are a few fruits that can be successfully cultivated in a good greenhouse.

    - Strawberries – Strawberries are well known for doing very well in a greenhouse. Any strawberry variety can be grown in a greenhouse, but early varieties often perform the best. They can be started in the cold and then brought into a greenhouse midwinter. Once buds begin opening, it's important to ensure they get plenty of ventilation.

    - Sweet Melons – A variety of sweet melons can be grown within a greenhouse. Cantaloupe does especially well in greenhouses. Other sweet melons will do well in a greenhouse if they have some heat. If growing sweet melons, remember that they rely on pollenating to produce fruit. Insects can be added to the greenhouse to do this or you can do it by hand if you notice that no fruit is developing on your melon plants.

    - Citrus Fruits – Citrus fruits like tangerines, oranges and lemons all can be grown inside greenhouses. These trees can survive well even in cool temperatures, so heating for the greenhouse may not be required during the winter months. Keep in mind, if you decide to grow citrus trees from pips, it can take quite some time for them to start actually producing fruit.

    - Nectarines and Peaches – Cool or unheated greenhouses work well for growing nectarines and peaches. It's important to select the right variety for your greenhouse. Varieties that are self fertile make great choices for a greenhouse. Certain varieties will do better in a cool or unheated greenhouse, since they produce fruits later in the season.

    - Grapes – With some good care and a good variety choice, grapes can be grown within a greenhouse as well. Some great options for cool greenhouse growing include the "Buckland Sweetwater" and "Black Hamburgh" varieties. Of course, you'll have to ensure that vines get free draining, open soil, so make sure that soil is not water logged. Grapes also will need support. Pests must also be kept at bay to ensure your grapes grow well.

    - Tomatoes – Although many people refer to tomatoes as vegetables, they are actually a fruit and they do very well in a greenhouse environment. They need plenty of heat and sunlight, so you will need to make sure they are warm enough and that they get plenty of water.

Veggies to Grow in a Greenhouse

You can also enjoy growing a variety of different vegetables within your greenhouse. If you're unsure which veggies to try in your greenhouse, here are some great options to try.

    - Leafy Vegetables – Many varieties of leafy vegetables, such as spinach and lettuce, are wonderful veggies to grow in a greenhouse. You can harvest these leafy veggies all year long if you keep the greenhouse above 50 degrees F throughout the year.

    - Peppers – Various types of peppers, including sweet peppers, grow wonderfully inside greenhouses. They need nutrient rich fertilizer and a warm environment to grow well, which is easy to achieve, even during the colder months, if you have a good heating system. The soil needs to drain well and regular watering is needed to enjoy the best crop of peppers.

    - Cucumbers – Cucumbers are a popular vegetable choice for greenhouse gardeners. They require warmer temperatures to grow and organic nutrition within their soil too. When growing them, it's essential to ensure that they are fertilized on a regular basis. Avoid excess watering, especially if the greenhouse is humid, since this can lead to disease in cucumbers. Preventive fungicides may be required to help avoid infections and diseases.

    - Eggplant – Since eggplants produce in abundance and are incredibly easy to grow, they are an excellent veggie choice for greenhouse growers as well. Plants need to be pruned carefully for the best results, since this helps them stay bushy instead of spreading out all over the greenhouse. Pollination may need to be done by hand if you don't have insects in your greenhouse.

These are just a few great fruits and vegetables that do well inside a greenhouse. Begin experimenting with several of these options in your own greenhouse to enjoy eating your own delicious, greenhouse grown produce.

The most identifiable city which is related to Karnataka is but of course Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore. It is the capital of the state and reflects a futuristic India that undoubtedly makes it one of the top most livable metropolises in the country. With a vast majority of industrious IT people throughout the city, it has been rightly titled as the Silicon Valley of India for concentrating the best IT companies of the world. The city has several epithets such as "Pensioner's Paradise" and "Garden City of India and is bedecked with splendid temples, glorious monuments, immortal heritage and many more.

Being a home to several renowned personalities and highly-respected professionals, the city maintains its reputation of being a world class city by offering five-star luxury hotels that cater to the needs of sophisticated class of society. Although, the cost of living is comparatively high, there is still no paucity of finding decent and budget hotels in Bangalore. Various affordable and medium range hotels are available in areas like Malleswaram, Jayanagar and near transport hubs like railway station and airport. While those who come packed with extremely tight budget can sojourn at guesthouses that offer basic services at reasonable prices.

As compared to other cosmopolitan cities, Bangalore relatively enjoys a mild climate round the year. Historical edifices and tourist attractions are the main assets of the city. There are so many places to visit in Bangalore like temple tour, Chowdiah memorial hall, flower and vegetable market etc. that it is difficult to exhaust the list in short trips. Outlanders as well as domestic tourists find it easy to explore the city as the culture and people of Bangalore are accustomed and much more flexible to welcoming people from different countries.

Bangalore has a reserve of entertainment options that match the requirements of every type of traveler. People who have deep interest in history can visit historical monuments and forts like Tipu Sultan Fort that displays impressive Islamic style architecture. The renaissance of architecture is best defined by the Bangalore Palace, the picture of which is visually captured and treasured by domestic and international travelers. Bangalore has a multitude of galleries and museums that showcase some of the most antique pieces or rather evidences of the glorious past.

What is much adorned by the vacationists and tourists is the rich flora and fauna of the city. The wildlife and national park of Bangalore offer a contrasting view from the otherwise busy and populated city. Travelling around the town is not a big fuss as there are several modes of transportation available. The frequent and rushing services of buses, the regular taxi cabs and the traditional Indian auto-rickshaws, it is pretty trouble-free to travel from one part of the city to another.

Although the city to a little extent is pounded by the effects of globalization and modernization, it is rather significant to note that the state has effortlessly managed to retain the flavor of its culture in the society and kept the traditions alive in the eclectic generation.

Article Title: Choose Banquet Halls In Delhi For Organizing A Flawless & Faultless Event

A social gathering whether it's formal with an extensive guest list or informal including only close friends and family demands meticulous planning and organization. With the availability of event planners, décor setup facilities, catering companies and banquet halls in Delhi, one can host any type of event without going to too much trouble. However, there are many concerns and important aspects which should be kept in mind while booking a place and other hosting facilities.

New Delhi is a hub when it comes to hosting a party or any other celebration and is also popularly known for its offer of hospitality and the general generosity towards its guests and other outsiders. Looking at this, the host has several options to select for a perfect event that will be cherished and well-remembered in the long run.

There are several banquet halls in Delhi, all across the capital so that one is able to choose the location as per his site preferences. From central Delhi to the NCR region, from single spaces in farmhouses and lawns, from hotels near Gurgaon to hotels near Noida, depending upon the type of event, one can choose celebration spaces to host the event.

As far as the wedding functions are concerned, it's best to avail the facilities provided by luxury hotels for organizing one's events due to the flawless and professional services offered by them. Furthermore, they are cost-effective as compared to utilizing the separate individual spaces. These single set-ups require a thorough study, where one has to individually scout for caterers, for décor and decoration services, accommodation and other event related needs. But, when one selects hotels in and around Delhi including hotels near Gurgaon, the hassles are definitely reduced to a bare minimum. The host can take up packages provided by these luxury hotels and rely on their professional and dedicated team to organize one's event without any tensions or worries.

Still, after choosing the right hotel for the wedding occasion, one should be part of each planning step so that no vital aspects are missed or misinterpreted. After all, a wedding takes place only once in a person's lifetime. Starting from the number of guests gracing the occasion, the space should be accordingly chosen, another vital feature is that the bar should always be kept in the reception room as most of the crowd tends to be around that particular area and if they are in separate rooms or out of the main room, the chances are that the party will look as if half of the guests have already left. The dance floor should be centralized where the guests can have a look at who is dancing or the ones with two left feet can be pulled too on the floor.

These aspects hold true whether one is choosing a hotel's banquet space or any other meeting hall in the city. After weighing all the pros and cons, including the host's desires and wants, the hotels in Gurgaon and elsewhere in the city, gets the vote for hosting a faultless and smooth event.

With a reputation for innovative, stylish and functional mobile phones all rolled into one convenient package, Samsung make even their average handsets stand above many of its competitors, and this is why it's one of the "Big Three" mobile phone manufacturers. With the D800, however, the time may have finally come for Samsung to have slipped up, even if it's just a minor slip. However, first the positives.

Like the predecessor on which it's based, the hugely popular D600, the phone is as stylish as you'd come to expect from Samsung. Small, compact and mixing black with chrome to an effortless sheen, there's no doubt that this is yet another winner in mobile phone design. It's a little larger than its older sibling, yet it never feels too big, mainly due to Samsung's continued use of the screen slide option.

The screen is also larger than the previous D600, and with 262,000 colours mixed with 240x320 pixels, the Samsung D800's picture is sharp and clear. This is just as well, as the camera, although good, is a little less powerful than those of Samsung's competitors. Whereas 2.0 mega pixels are the norm, the one on the D800 is only 1.2 mega pixels, leaving the picture quality a little less defined (although the newer screen does its best to make it look as good as possible).

There are the usual multimedia features on the Samsung D800, such as Bluetooth for easy file sharing, and an MP3 player so you can download and customise your own ring tones. However, although the sound is clear, the D800 is lacking in the bass area, and can therefore leave songs sounding a little tinny, especially if you're a fan of rock or dance music.

Another area of contradiction is where the memory is concerned. Although the D800 is no slacker when it comes to internal memory, with a generous 80MB provided, there's no feature or slots to allow you to upgrade this memory by inserting an SD card or similar. When other mobile phones of a lesser spec than the D800 seem to be able to have this feature, it seems all the more conspicuous by its absence here.

Although it makes up for this in other ways, by offering voice command calling options as well as a voice recorder and other office functions, it still feels like the D800 is a slight step backward for such an innovative company. Don't get me wrong; the D800 is still a good, solid mobile phone. It's just that in this day and age, with even less specced mobile phones offering slightly more options, Samsung seem to have forgotten that a mid range mobile phone needn't mean average.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Over the last couple of years, there have been many mobile phones that have looked as well as they've performed. Some that spring to mind are the Nokia 8800 series, and the LG Chocolate models. Not only did they offer a host of features to compete with the best mobile phones already on the market, but they also looked beautiful into the bargain. Now, one of these companies has done it again, and that company is LG, with its stunning new KE850 Prada mobile phone.

Not for the first time has a mobile phone company collaborated with an external source to design a phone (as was seen by the Motorola Red series, among others). However, this is surely one of the first times that such a high-profile name like Prada has been involved, and the results speak for themselves. Sleek, sexy, sophisticated and elegant; these are all words that are bandied about whenever the name Prada is mentioned, and the LG KE850 mobile phone follows suit.

With absolutely no buttons on the fascia (unless you count two miniscule options for calling) to speak of, this allows the screen to almost cover the whole length of the front of the phone. The reason this is possible? Touch screen technology. Although Ericsson may claim that they had this first with their stylus operated mobile communicator, that company certainly never had the sheer aesthetic stylings of LG's latest masterpiece. And the icing on the cake surely has to be when the display fades when not in use, leaving you with a sheer screen and a phone not too dissimilar in looks to Sony's wonderfully designed PSP handheld.

However, if you think the phone's design is impressive, wait until you see the features it manages to incorporate into its slim case. As well as the usual 2.0 mega pixel camera, it also features:

·MPEG4 video player for the latest and sharpest video compression

·Music multitasking for messaging, allowing file downloads and transfers

·Document viewer, including Excel and Word doc support

·Bluetooth 2.0, the latest version of this excellent transfer tool

As well as this, the LG KE850 Prada mobile phone also allows you to upgrade the memory capacity via its USB slot, so that even if its already generous internal memory is not enough, it can be easily increased.

Indeed, if there's one drawback to the phone, it's that it is only tri-band whereas most phones are now quad-band. Although this won't affect its use in its home and desired customer territories, it will mean it won't work in the US. However, if you're looking for both a stylish and feature-filled phone and you're not in that part of the world, you can't do much better than LG's new superstar.

CCTV stands for closed circuit television. A CCTV system would use a video camera to project magnified images on a monitor. The video camera would have a zoom lens. It would have a magnification range of 2x to 60x. The monitor component would be able to switch polarities. A CCTV system would have controls for focus, magnification, and other imaging variables.

    Easy On The Eyes

Most users tend to magnify excessively when using a CCTV. Make the text large enough so you can see it comfortably. You can also use the x/y table to move material back and forth instead of moving the material manually. The exceptions are small items such as pens and pieces of paper. A new user should have both hands on either side of the x/y table. After some experience, he can go with just one hand. Another great tip is to use your finger when trying to locate something. Finally, when using the x/y table, use brake and margin stops to keep the table from moving. Use one hand to steady the table when writing

    How's Your Penmanship?

Beginners should write at the smallest magnification available. Make your writing bigger when you are making the image smaller. Use lined paper when learning to write with a CCTV. Blank paper will confuse your sense of orientation. When you do write, write a few words then stop and move the x/y table instead of trying to do so while writing. Use a normal pen instead of a big felt marker. Also, write in positive instead of negative mode.

    Get Comfy

You should start reading in the lower half of the screen. You can also use an adjustable chair to adjust and swivel your viewing position. Or go the other way. Use an adjustable table to raise and lower the CCTV to your level. If you are viewing a side-by-side system, position the monitor on your better eye. Finally, use an in-line system if you need to be really close to the monitor

    How To Buy

As with anything, the user should decide what it will be used for. Having determined that, he should try to find something within his budget. Money aside, he should buy a black and white unit if it is primarily for text. Having a smaller monitor will mean having higher resolution. Also two-piece units should be used if an eye condition requires greater distance between the monitor and the camera. As far as options go, one can go for different color combinations, line marking, windowing, computer options, split screen options and auto focus options.

The important thing about CCTV is to know what you are going to use it for and purchase and set up accordingly. In the end, it is all about how effectively it will serve the user's needs. So a potential buyer should read up on all the latest technology to see exactly what will suit his purposes. Once that is done, he can make an informed purchase and be on his way to learning to use a CCTV.

CCTV stands for closed circuit television. It is a surveillance technology used for monitoring locations and activities. CCTV systems usually have a dedicated link between cameras and monitors. The use of such systems has grown and become more prevalent in recent times. Tremendous amounts are being invested in CCTV as a leading tool in the fight against crime and terror.

    Home Security

This growth is destined to extend into the homes of private citizens. In a time of growing domestic violence, the installation of CCTV can be a big help. The collection of videotape evidence greatly helps any court case. The technology is also used in hospitals for keeping tabs on health professionals who are suspected of abusing their patients.

That is the great thing about CCTV. Its capabilities are constantly being extended. Though their main purpose is to detect and prevent crime, CCTV systems have now been pressed into service to monitor littering, traffic violations, and loitering. Even underage smoking and drinking have sometimes become the focus of some CCTV systems. Other innovations are also being discovered. CCTV systems can help in the observation of body language. This in turn can yield information about drug or alcohol usage in a subject. One can say that CCTV is an invaluable tool in keeping the public order.

That is probably why it is becoming an integral part of public policy as well. Law enforcement personnel as well as politicians are endorsing it as a cost-effective way to enhance security methods. Its impact on the law enforcement is greater than that of any other technology initiative in recent years.

CCTV also has great public acceptance. There may be some people who oppose it but the general public seems to agree that the technology makes them feel safer. It has become a symbol of security and feeling better about the world at large. Critics of CCTV are often seen as rabid radicals.

    Technology Behind The Lens

A modern CCTV system consists of cameras with pan, tilt and zoom capabilities. These cameras are operated remotely from a central control room. A lot of other sophisticated technologies are integrated into these systems. These include night vision, computer assisted operations, motion detection and even face recognition. The camera casings are also usually bullet-proof and have automated defense mechanisms in case of someone trying to damage them.

The clarity of the images recorded by CCTV is often excellent. That is why CCTV footage is very valuable in a court case. These systems can spot a deck of cards from a hundred meters away. Most of these systems can work in very low light conditions and bring the images up to daylight level.

CCTV is not magic. It is merely the application of several technologies for a specific purpose. Generally that purpose is to enhance security for a particular area. Being so cost-effective, it is not a wonder that its acceptance level is very high among members of the general public. And one can only expect that acceptance to grow as time passes by.

CCTV systems are closed circuit television systems. These are systems where the circuit is closed and all the elements are linked. CCTV systems seem to be a wonderful thing for security and threat detection. However they are not a magical cure-all. CCTV systems should be seen as components of an integrated security approach.

    Define Your Situation

The best way to do this is to determine the purpose of browsing through available CCTV systems. Do you want to stop vandalism? Do you want to prevent theft? Do you want to monitor potential crime areas at night? This is an endless list and only you will know the reasons. Once you determine the problem, consider other solutions aside from CCTV systems. Will better lighting be a deterrent? Will more barriers prevent trespassers? Will an alarm or guards be necessary? Again, all these questions are best answered by you.

You can then shortlist the potential solutions by writing out their respective pros and cons. A lot of the times, you will end up with the need for multiple solutions. If CCTV systems are one of them, then you should certainly look at what is currently on the market.

    Plan It Out

The first thing is to determine the basic system layout. You can do it yourself or have someone else do it. The important thing is that someone who is knowledgeable about the area and purpose of the system be involved. You can outsource the task to professionals but this will cost more. But if you are uncomfortable with the detailed work involve, taking that route is advised.

Next, describe the system. It should be brief but very accurate. After the description, write out how it will be operated. The next item would be a list of camera locations and mounting specifications. All these details can be further broken down into heading and sub-headings. It will all depend on the complexity of your planned set-up.

    Checking It Twice

Once you have this checklist done, contact some vendors. Explain your needs and send them a copy of your plan. Have them suggest some options for you within your financial range. There should be a lot of options for you. Make sure you explain your needs very well. Do not be afraid to ask questions if something is not clear to you. After all the options are in, shortlist them further so you can make a decision among a few choices. You do not want to be overwhelmed by so many items and variables. You will make a better shopping decision if you narrow down your choices.

CCTV systems address certain types of needs. Make sure those are your needs when you consider CCTV. Do not waste all that effort only to find out you need a solution other than CCTV. CCTV is not a magic pill. It will not solve all your problems. However, it will solve the problems that it was designed for. So the best thing is to make sure you understand your problem.
