Two main types of wood are softwood and hardwood. Another popular choice is manufactured wood like plywood. Which type of wood you choose to use for your projects depends upon a variety of factors including: budget and cost, needed strength, hardness, grain characteristics and coloring, stability, weight, durability and availability.
Softwood
Beginning word crafters most often start out using softwood like pine because as it's soft, it's easier to work, plus you don't need expensive tools to get quality results. Pine is readily available at local lumberyards and home centers, note that it does have limitations in furniture making since it is a soft wood and can damage easily.
Softwood comes from a coniferous (cone-bearing) or an evergreen tree. Popular varieties include fir, pine, cedar, spruce, hemlock and redwood. Although these types of woods are used a lot in the home construction industry in flooring and other projects, redwood and cedar are excellent choices for outdoor projects like benches, and pine is used a lot in "Early American Country Style" bench and other furniture projects.
Couple of tips:
- Pine and other softwoods generally absorb and lose moisture more than hardwoods, hence they are not considered as stable.
- Buy your lumber at least two weeks before starting your project and keep it indoors.
- You can usually find softwoods in standard thickness and widths like 1 X 4 at 3/4"
thick and 3 1/2" wide, similar to construction materials.
Note that wood is most often priced per lineal foot, with the price increasing accordingly for wider boards.
Hardwood
Hardwood lumber comes from deciduous trees. Among the main domestic varieties are maple, oak, birch, cherry, ash, walnut and poplar. Poplar and red oak are those commonly stocked in home centers and lumberyards. And stock is generally sold in similar dimensions as it is in softwood, also by the lineal foot. You can call ahead to see what types of wood are available and in what sizes at specialty lumber and construction supply stores.
Working with hardwoods is quite different from working with pine. For example, you cannot drive a screw through hardwood lumber without first boring a pilot hole. Plus cutting as well as planing hardwoods requires very sharp tools.
Hardwoods like ash and oak are known as open-grain woods, with alternating areas of relatively porous and dense wood, and are good to use with furniture crafting. Open-grain areas absorb the color readily when stained, while the harder areas are more resistant. This tends to accentuate the grain patterns and can create a dramatic effect.

If you are thinking of upgrading to a newer type of awning or if you are just getting awnings for the first time, then you will want to know what the different types that are out there to choose from. Awnings are basically a canopy of some sort of material that will provide a place of shelter for you, your family and friends, from such elements of the sun and rain. And awnings are very good for keeping your outdoor furniture from fading and it also aides in keeping the temperature of your house at a regulated temperature.
In order to choose the type of awning that is right for you, you need to know what those types of awnings are. Let's take a look at the various types so you can make the best choice for you and your home.
You can get awnings that are structured to cover your whole patio or you can the awnings that are made to just cover your windows. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Perhaps one of the most common used awnings you will find are the ones that go between a wall and out into the garden, giving your home the appearance of expansion. Once you add some lights to the area, you will have an extended area of your home. Perhaps to use as an outdoor area for entertaining.
There are the ever famous retractable which can include the lateral arm type. This type can provide your patio with shade then retract when you are done using it. Some are even fitted with screens to provide a screened bug free room.
Some awnings may be made of corrugated polycarbonate, aluminum, corrugated fiberglass, or even some other materials may be used instead of fabric. All of the above mentioned are definitely more durable than fabric ones as they will not wear out due to the ever-changing weather. Some people may not realize that when they go with the lighter colored awnings, as they give a more airy feeling, they are actually letting more light in which will not cool down the area that they are trying to. This makes the lighter awnings less economical and not a good choice.
No matter what awning you decide to go with, make sure you do a bit of homework so you can be sure to get the awning that best meets your needs and budget. Shop around for the best possible deals and what will give you the best bang for your buck.

Here are the plans to make a workbench for your shop. Fairly easy to build, these plans make a nice, solid, compact bench to fit in nearly any workshop.
Items needed:
Top 198 x 48 x 1800mm
Corner brackets 90 x 35 x 240mm
Side top rails 148 x 48 x 800mm
Front/back top rails 90 x 35 x 1400mm
Coach bolts, nuts and washers 5/16 x 4 ½
Side bottom rails 90 x 35 x 800mm
Legs 98 x 98 x 900mm
Front/back bottom rails 90 x 35 x 1400mm
Shelf 800 x 1470 x 19mm
Bench stop 90 x 35 x 300mm
Tools
Claw hammer
Smoothing plane
Marking gauge
Combination square
Steel tape
Three beveled-edge firmer chisels
Cross-cut saw
Tenon saw
Nail punch
Twist drills
Screwdrivers
Oil stone
Sanding cork
Variable-speed power drill
Jigsaw
Circular saw
Instructions:
1. Cut to length the four legs and mark in housings for top and bottom rails. The top housing is 148mm x 48mm deep; the lower one 90mm x 35mm deep. Set your circular saw to the right depth and cut on the waste side of the lines you marked. Cut a series of parallel lines about 12mm apart between the housing marks and knock out waste. Smooth each housing with a chisel or rasp.
2. Cut to length front and back top and bottom rails, align them in their housing and pin in place with nails. Drill through both legs and rails as shown and bolt rails to legs. Check frame is square by measuring the diagonals.
3. Cut and clamp side rails to the front and back frame, then drill and insert the longer bolts. Tighten all nuts securely and check the table doesn't rock.
4. Cut out four corner brackets with 45-degree angles. A miter saw will be useful for this or set a circular saw to cut at 45 degrees. Screw brackets in place flush with top of rails. At this stage the bench frame should be completely rigid.
5. Cut the bottom shelf to suit the dimensions of the bench. Notch out 35mm x 133mm in each corner to clear the legs. The shelf can be screwed in place or left loose.
6. Cut the five pieces for the top. Move them around to get a good fit for the edges and hold them in place with a nail. Screw them to the bench frame with 100mm screws, two in each end, sunk slightly below the surface. Use a plane to smooth any major irregularities.
7. Prepare a bench stop as shown in the detail. Find the center and measure 60mm and 200mm from one end of a length of 90mm x 35mm pine. Drill an 8mm diameter hole at these points. Draw two lines joining the holes and cut along lines with a jigsaw to form a slot. Smooth the cut with a file or sharp chisel. Bevel the end at 45 degrees. Cut bench to a length of 300mm.
8. Locate the bench stop where you want it. Right-handed people generally prefer the stop at the left-hand end of the bench and left-handed people vice-versa. Make sure you avoid the braces. Hold the bench stop against the front rails and mark around it on the underside of the bench top. Transfer this shape to the top of the bench.
Drill two holes in opposite corners and cut out the rectangular hole. Insert the bench stop and make sure it slides smoothly. Adjust with a file or chisel as necessary. Hold the bench stop so it is flush with the bench top and drill a hole through the front rail at the top of the slot. Insert a carriage bolt with a washer and wing nut to allow the bench stop to be raised and lowered easily.
On the average, workbenches are not finished; ie do not apply paint or a clear finish so that this finish does not mark other items that are built on the bench.

Specialist applications require different types of concrete. Examples of concrete include regular concrete, high strength concrete, high-performance concrete, self-compacting concrete, shotcrete, pervious concrete, cellular concrete, roller-compacted concrete and asphalt concrete. The use of recycled glass as an aggregate is popular these days because of aesthetic appeal.
A great variety of products are made from concrete. Examples include pavements, masonry, pipes and insulating concrete.
Regular concrete is what you get when you follow the mixing instructions on a packet of cement, using sand or an aggregate. This type of concrete can be made to have a strength of 10MPa to 40MPa depending what it is going to be used for. 10MPa should be sufficient for blinding, for example, but structural concrete should be 40MPa.
High strength concrete has a compressive strength of usually more than 6000 pounds per square inch (40 MPa). You make high strength concrete by lowering the water to cement ratio to 0.35 or lower. Silica fume is often added to prevent the formation of free calcium hydroxide crystals in the cement matrix, because this might reduce the strength at the cement-aggregate bond.
High performance concrete is quite a new term and describes concrete that conforms to a certain set of standards including strength. High strength concrete is also high performance but not all high performance concrete is high strength. Some examples of these standards include density, toughness, volume stability, a long life even in severe environments, long term mechanical properties, compaction without segregation, ease of placement, early age strength, permeability and heat of hydration.
Shotcrete is often used against rock surfaces or vertical soil because formwork is unnecessary. It can be used for rock support, especially when tunneling. There are two application methods for shotcrete – dry mix or wet mix procedures. When using dry mix, the dry mixture of aggregates and cement fill the machine and are conveyed through the hoses with compressed air. The water necessary for hydration gets added at the nozzle. When preparing wet mix, the mixes are made with all the water necessary for hydration and pumped through the hoses. Compressed air is added for spraying, at the nozzle. For both wet mix and dry mix, additives such as fiber reinforcement and accelerators may be used.
To produce uniform, high quality concrete, it is necessary to mix your cement mixture thoroughly. In the process of hydrating and hardening, concrete has to develop certain chemical and physical properties. Among other qualities, low moisture permeability, mechanical strength and chemical and volumetric stability are very important factors.

Interior remodeling has seen quite a boom in the last year. Since the real estate market has slowed so much, people are re-evaluating their homes and deciding to remodel instead.
One of the quickest ways to upgrade your home is to install all new flooring. If you cannot afford to replace the flooring in your entire house, try just the kitchen and a bathroom, that is a quick and relatively inexpensive way to give your space a fresh new look. Or, if you find that your family room is where you do most of your entertaining then look into revamping the floors in there. You can certainly warm up your home by adding rich hardwood to the family room floors. There are tremendous amounts of product available for your flooring needs. All you need is a budget and a little education on what is best for your space.
We'll start with the kitchen and bathroom because they are the most popular rooms to remodel. In "wet" areas, or rooms that have plumbing supplies, it's very common to have some sort of tile. Tile generally comes in ceramic or porcelain, but is also available in many natural stones as well. Of course, your choice will depend on the overall look you're trying to achieve and how big of a dent you are willing to put in your wallet. When dealing ceramic or stone surfaces, it's best to go through an experienced tile setter to get the best results.
A less expensive way to acquire a tiled look is to use vinyl sheet flooring. This is a material made of vinyl that comes in a twelve foot wide roll and can be ordered in any length you need. This is usually available in many different colors and patterns in stock at your local home improvement store, and is fairly easy to install. Some of the same colors and patterns also come in easier to handle 12" x 12" self-sticking squares.
Hardwood floors are not recommended for use in those "wet" rooms, but make a fabulous statement in your formal dining room, or are a great alternative to carpet in your homes bedrooms. Hardwoods also come in many different species and stains, as well as different installation options. Hardwood is a little more tricky than tile, and there are a few more things to think about when choosing it as a floor covering. Hardwoods need to acclimate, or sit in your home for at least seventy two hours before they are installed. This greatly decreases the risk of shrinking or swelling to a degree that will cause damage to the entire floor after it's been laid. It's also important to pay attention to the recommendations for sub-floor as well. Like I said, hardwoods are very expensive, and more complicated than tile, and should never be installed by someone who is a novice.
The best alternative to hardwood floors are laminated wood flooring or engineered wood floors. These are two different types that often get confused with one another, and they are vastly different. Laminated wood flooring or a "floating floor" is made of melamine with a very good photograph of a wood grain on it. Many people find that they do not prefer this as an alternative because it has a hollow feeling and sound when you walk on it. This is due to the fact that it is laid on a pad, but is interlocked together so it is very literally floating a little bit off the sub-floor, and the hollow sound you hear is the give that it is producing as you step. Engineered wood floors are usually made with a melamine core, but with an 1/8" to a ¼" wood veneer on top. A wood veneer is a thin slice of real wood, and depending how thick it is determines how often it can be sanded and refinished.
There are obviously several things to consider when choosing a new floor. First, determine what rooms are most important and what you would like to see in it. Then figure out how much you want to spend and you should be on your way to a brand new floor!

Awnings have a long history and there is evidence that they were used in ancient Egypt and in Greece. They were used to give cover to fighting men when they left the battle field and the Greeks used awnings in many of their open air theaters.
Nowadays, they are visible in the public arena on shops and hotels. Hotels may have an awning that stretches right from the hotel door to the curbside so that guests can leave their car and enter the hotel without getting wet on a rainy day. Many shops have awnings to protect their windows and their merchandise from the hot sun. Increasingly shop and hotel awnings will have the name of the business or the owner inscribed on them.
An awning can be free standing but is more usually a structure that is attached to a wall. A frame, generally made from aluminum, but sometime from wood or steel is covered with canvas (which now days would be waterproofed and treated to reduce fading) and sometimes with aluminum or thatched wood. Some awnings are a permanent structure while others are retractable. Now days, they are most often seen on patios or in gardens, people may also take an awning when they go camping as it adds extra space to their caravan or tent.
You can buy ready made awnings that are available in different sizes and materials and fit them yourself to an outer wall of your house. You can also have custom made awnings so that you know they will fit exactly where you want them to go and be constructed of materials of your choosing.
Many people will have them on their patios if they do not have a porch because it will protect them from the rain and the sun on days when they may want to eat outside. Some awnings are professionally installed – a lot depends on what you want and how much you are prepared to pay for an awning.
There are plain awnings and there are more ornate awnings where the structure might be made of filigreed iron or other fancy metal work. If you have an awning on the side or the back of your house then your house will stay cooler during the summer months because it will be protected from the sun.
Many home buyers regard an awning as a plus when they are looking for a house because it means they can enjoy more time on their patio or garden. Now days, there are plenty to choose from and it pays to shop around before buying as prices can vary quite considerably.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Concrete is the most commonly used man made building supply on Earth. Six billion cubic meters are manufactured a year, in a $35 billion industry. This means there are pretty good odds that you'll eventually do something with, or be around something with concrete.
Weather and climate will affect your concrete. It is not wise to pour your cement in conditions that involve a drop below freezing before the cement cures, as this will prevent the cement from reaching its maximum strength. Likewise, if the humidity is too low, the surface of the cement can crack and produce weaknesses for weather to attack.
All concrete will eventually crack to some extent, though this can be minimized by good design and selection of good reinforcement where needed. This does not mean concrete is a bad choice, as concrete structures have lasted thousands of years.
Concrete is used as a fire barrier, but while it doesn't burn, it can be damaged by heat. Once the temperature reaches or exceeds 300 degrees, the concrete is considered unsafe, and this can usually be detected by a pink, light gray or yellow-brown color. Discolored concrete should be replaced.
For handyman style use, bagged cement is perfectly reasonable, and for convenience, there are pre-mixed bags with aggregate already mixed, just requiring water. These are very handy for small jobs such as setting a pole into the ground for a doggy chain or clothesline. This is usually too expensive for large jobs.
Pouring concrete, such as a sidewalk, requires several steps. First, figure out how much you need. This is determined by measuring the surface area and thickness to determine how many cubic yards you need, and this will tell you whether you can mix it yourself, or need to have it delivered.
Then you build your forms. This probably involves digging, and laying 2"x4" boards to hold the edges of the concrete. 2"x2" boards should be used to hold those in place, pounding them deep enough that the weight of the concrete won't push the boards out of place.
You will almost always want to lay reinforcing material in the bottom, such as metal fencing materials. Ensure that you have everything square and at the proper level, as after you pour, it will be too late. Then ensure that all of the pieces are well secured with nails and clamps. Spray the site with later lightly, and pour. Tamp the concrete down, especially on the edges, and level the concrete.
Once it has set enough to support a 2"x8" board, use one as a straight edge to cut contraction joints. These should be every four to six feet. For sidewalks or narrow areas, this is sufficient, but for patios these should go in both directions. A pair of beveled clapboards can be used. Coat them with motor oil and place a nail into one. Insert them into joints on large concrete structures. As the concrete begins to set, the nail is used to remove one of the boards, and the other is hidden inside, leaving room for the concrete to expand or contract with the weather.
There are a variety of ways to surface the concrete, but remember that you must select one that will allow water to drain off of the concrete, as standing water is a major cause of damage to concrete. After you surface the concrete, it must be wetted down every 12 hours for the next three days, and protected from sunlight while it cures. Visit http://www.tipsonconcrete.com for additional tips.

While sitting on a bench memorable conversations unfold, conversations with your parents, spouse, loved ones or friends. A bench is a place where some receive their first kiss or a much needed hug in a period of crisis or a simple touch from your spouse that reinforces your years together. A person can relax, think and experience many peaceful moments by adding a bench to their home improvement plans. There are many different kinds of benches to choose from.
As a bench quickly becomes the center piece of your home you can choose from a cubby bench, deacon bench, fly tying bench, potting bench or a teak bench. These benches are different in a variety of ways. With the proper information you will be able to make an informed decision.
A cubby bench is a sensible way to store all of those things that seem to always be in the way. This type of bench is great for a child's play room and other areas of the house where things seem scattered. A cubby bench usually consists of three open cubbies designed for storage and a firm bench seat. You can leave the cubbies open or you can put baskets into the slots. The baskets will give your cubby bench a sense of tidiness. This bench is available in beautiful cedar, oak, maple or teak wood. Parents love the cubby bench because of its convenient space storage; children appreciate the private space to sit with friends and to store all of their comforting treasures.
If you are looking for a trendier bench, the deacon bench may be just what you need. A deacon bench offers a place to sit, chest storage and adds a touch of attractiveness to any room or space. Most furniture stores carry this type of bench and they usually range in price from $300 to $500 dollars. This is a preferred bench for both style and storage. It is a great addition to any home.
Benches are made for indoor and outdoor use. Many people enjoy having a bench on their porch or in their patio area. During the summer an outside bench is a wonderful piece of furniture to have. Many times families like to sit outside, enjoying a warm summer breeze, while sipping homemade lemonade. This is a perfect opportunity for family time and the chance to create many lasting moments.
No matter what your home improvement plans are make sure to include a bench. Patio and lawn chairs are only made for one whereas benches are made for two. Have many romantic and heart-warming moments as your new bench quickly becomes your favorite piece of furniture. Any of the above mentioned benches can be purchased at many stores, online or through catalogs. Some enterprising individuals even like to build their own bench adding an extra touch of sentimental value. For more information on benches visit http://www.bench411.com .

Almost every business owner, eve those of large corporations, know that utilizing the internet market is vital. People are doing almost everything online these days, from banking to paying bills to shopping. If businesses want to stay on top of their market then they have to understand and take advantage of the business home internet marketing opportunity.
A business home internet marketing opportunity allows a business to reach more customers than any other marketing opportunity. The internet is broadcasting messages to people all over the world every minute of every day. There is never a time when an internet marketing message can not be seen.
The possibilities for reaching whole new demographics is huge. Just placing a few ads online could impact a business so much that they see profits double. A business home internet marketing opportunity allows a business owner to get more for their marketing dollars.
Advertising online is not just a matter of putting up a few ads, though. The key to internet marketing is having a website to link back to. So, a business owner looking to take advantage of the business home internet marketing opportunity needs to first set up a website.
The website does not even have to be anything fancy. It can simply tell about the business, what they sell and how to contact them. The website should have a catchy domain name, which is the website address, so people remember it and associate it with the business and what they sell.
Once a business owner sets up their website the goal should be to get it on the search engines. It is not too hard to get a website on the search engines, however, getting listed is not the ultimate goal. In order to ever be found, the website needs to be within the first two pages of search results for the keywords associated with the business.
To do this a business owner needs to optimize their website for search engines. There are plenty of companies that will do this for a fee. They handle everything and all the business owner needs to do is submit their website to the search engine.
Once the website is coming up in a high rank on the search engines, the business owner can then try placing ads, exchanging links with other websites and using different options of marketing strategies.
A business home internet marketing opportunity is about getting the business an online presence. It does not mean the business has to operate online, but they need to have some presence, a website. Once the business does this they will then start to see results from the visitors to their website. After this all they need to do is a little maintenance to ensure their website is still hitting high on search engines, which basically involves optimizing it occasionally, which can be handled by another company for a fee, so really, it can be quite simple.

Vending machines are everywhere. Everyone has at one time or another bought something form a vending machine. They always seem to be there when you are needing a drink or something to snack on. That is why the vending machine business is so hot. A business opportunity in the vending machine business is something not to pass up.
A business opportunity in the vending machine business requires little management time and produces a great residual income. As a vending machine business owner a person either buys the machines to place or they take over machines that are already in place. The easier option, of course, is to buy machines that are already in place. However, buying machine to put in place allows for some opportunity.
By buying machines and then placing them the business owner gets to negotiate the pricing and location which could mean improved profits. However, placing machines can be difficult at times and in certain areas, so this is something to think about before buying the vending machine business.
One of the best things about vending machines is that there always seems to be a demand for them. People will use vending machines because they are convenient. It really isn't a matter of pricing or selection. This has been proven. Unlike other industries the vending machine industry is hardly affected by lean economic conditions. This means profits all the time, no matter what.
Vending machines allow families to work together, too. Even the smaller members of the family can help refill products and gather money. This makes the business, nit just a way to make money, but a good family activity.
There are really no set hours with a vending machine business either. All a person needs to do is get to know the routine for collecting money and refilling products. As long as they keep the machines stocked they are going to make money and the rest is completely stress free.
Additionally, the vending machine business deals with all cash money. There is no hassle with making change or cashing checks or accepting credit cards. That means all profit and no messing around with money.
A business opportunity in the vending machine business provides a unique opportunity. A vending machine business is not like any other business opportunity. It provides a stable way to earn money that requires little time investment. It is something that the entire family can be involved in and something that requires little special skills or even computer knowledge, which is hard to find these days. A business opportunity in the vending machine business is something that can be grown into a larger business and something that can become as successful as a person wants it to be.

The beauty of a Home Based Internet Business is that it does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of his/her age.
Governments the world-over appear determined to see the average person (ie: the people who pay their wages and very healthy retirement benefits) work until it is far too late to enjoy any semblance of retirement. Here in Australia, our Prime Minister (John Howard) and his Treasurer (Peter Costello), think it is necessary for us all to consider working until we are into our seventies.
What they (the Governments) do not understand is that age-discrimination is a huge drawback to the mature-aged worker when seeking employment. Ideas put in place in an attempt to address this problem are farcical. In many cases, if you lose you job for any reason at age 45 and over, you are constantly overlooked in favour of younger people who command less in wages, and who may provide a longer term of potential employment. Experienced Workers are often left to struggle for months, or even years, on Social Security payments.
I know this for a fact, as despite 30 years and a wealth of experience in the workforce, I found myself on the scrap-heap at a tender 45 years of age. However, you can not let it get you down as, in my case, there was 3 teenage girls and a wonderful wife to support, a home mortgage to take care of, a motor vehicle to maintain, and endless bills to pay. Sound familiar to you?
This is where a Home Based Internet Business can provide much needed financial support and employment when you need it most. And your boss will not care how old (or young) you are, because the boss will be YOU!!!! Get up late, work in your pyjamas, go play golf. It will not matter because you will be working for yourself. Your Home Based Internet Business will not happen overnight, but careful planning will ultimately see you succeed and build the lifestyle you so richly deserve. Imagine, residual income being earned, even while you are away on vacation!
There is a multitude of Home Based Internet Business opportunities available world-wide, and you will find one that perfectly suits your level of interest and budget. But do not forget the Golden Rule. If it sounds too good to be true, then it generally is.
So whether you are 18 or 88, and are looking for part or full time income, take a serious look at starting up your very own Home Based Internet Business.
TODAY IS NOT TOO SOON TO START!
Yours In Business,
Kevin Hiscock

EARNING AN INCOME FROM HOME can take a little time to gather momentum, therefore it is sensible to keep outgoing expenditure to a minimum until your HOME BASED INTERNET BUSINESS begins to provide a sustainable return.
One of the major budget expenses in WORKING FROM HOME is advertising. You need to be both aggressive and constant with your marketing methods, so it becomes very difficult to cut corners when you take into account the importance of the placement and volume of advertising required to promote your HOME BASED INTERNET BUSINESS. After all, you do want to be successful, otherwise you would not be here.
FREE ADVERTISING for your HOME BASED INTERNET BUSINESS can contribute solidly to keeping a tight restraint on outgoing expenditure during the formative stages of your business venture. At the same time, it will ensure the continued exposure of your program, product or idea to a captive worldwide internet audience.
Most FREE Traffic Exchanges offer you the opportunity to upgrade your membership. Generally, for a very reasonable and affordable once-only payment, you can receive extra benefits which ultimately leads to increased advertising exposure.
In the formative stages of establishing your HOME BASED INTERNET BUSINESS, the FREE versions of these Traffic Exchanges are a more than adequate marketing tool, provided you are willing to undertake some manual, time-consuming work. In order to earn advertising credits and have your advertisement shown to other interested parties, you will be required to click and view other subscribers' advertisements. Personally, I subscribe to a number of these FREE Traffic Exchanges and maximise my efforts by surfing three or four of these sites at the same time. You will be surprised at how easily and fluently the manual surfing process will come to you.
Of course, you can always look at upgrading your membership status once your HOME BASED INTERNET BUSINESS is up and running. But for now, FREE Advertising is very much a plus for those on a tight budget.

Article Title: Making Your Digital Camera Battery Last Longer

With all the features digital cameras have these days, you may find keeping batteries a problem. This could well be your biggest expense, but there are some things you can do to increase the length of time your batteries stay charged. Let's start with the three biggest sources of power drain.
The LCD screen takes up the most power. It is possible to turn this feature off unless you really feel the need for it. Using the camera's viewfinder will conserve power. Another big power drain is the flash. Whenever you can, use natural lighting to take your photos and turn off the flash. This will help save your battery for times when you absolutely need the flash. A third drain on your battery is constantly using your zoom. It takes more power zooming in and out than it does keeping your zoom at a steady place. Try to find a setting you like and sticking with it as much as possible..
Some other things you can do to make your battery last longer are:: http://www.review5.info
* Make sure Power Saving mode is on, or simply switch off your camera when you're not using it.
* In cold weather, keep your camera and batteries warm in your jacket until you are ready to use them. The cold drains batteries very quickly.
* Store batteries in a cool, dry location away from sunlight and other heat sources.
* Avoid unnecessary playback of your already taken images. Try to decide when you take the picture if it is a "keeper" or needs deleted and then refrain from reviewing until the pictures are downloaded to your computer.
* Use the AC adapter. Most digital cameras have an adapter that allows you to plug directly into a power point. If you don't plan on moving around a lot and are near an outlet, the AC adapter will increase the life of your batteries.
Needing to buy more or recharge your battery is something you won't be able to avoid completely, but with a few precautions this won't be needed as often.

Article Title: Pros and Cons of Using Disposable Tableware

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
When planning for a party there is always the question of what kind of tableware should be used. This is especially true when planning for a baby shower party where the opinion of the new mother-to-be is critical.
There are really some who will not object to using disposable forks and spoons for baby shower tableware and then there are those who are adamantly against it. Here are some pros and cons to using disposable tableware.
Pros
One – It is really easy to clean up after a party or event if all the tableware is disposable. Once all the guests have left, the one left cleaning after the place has to gather all the evidence of the party and make everything tidy once more. If all the baby shower tableware is disposable a simple swipe of the hand directing all these into the waiting black bag cuts the cleanup time to less than half. Otherwise, a lot of time consuming dish washing could be involved.
Two – If the party has a theme or even a color scheme, it is often possible to find tableware that matches this exact theme and thus enhances the decorations for the event. Sometimes even plain colored plates and napkins will match the decorations better than the plate you have in the cupboard. If having the perfect decorations is important, then disposable tableware might make sense.
Three – They are really cheap and can be purchased online or at a local store.
Cons
One – Some people don't like disposable tableware because they create more trash, which is bad for the environment. Even biodegradable and other earth friendly products will not be as environmentally friendly as using regular dishes and washing them.
Two – Disposable tableware is not sized properly and some are either too small and others too large. It is also harder to eat with plastic utensils than regular forks and spoons. Plastic knives don't cut as well as metal knives either. Paper plates can be too thin for some types of greasy foods, which can result in a mess if they leak through.
Three – The worst thing that can happen is that when eating with these disposables, they could break while still in the mouth. Some of the tines of the forks can even get lost in a cake and if one is not careful they could be eaten by a child or an adult.
But don't let the cons scare away the idea of using disposable tableware for a party. If one is really stressed out and cleanup is an issue, then go for it.
However, if there are kids around, then an adult should take charge of the little kids who don't know how to eat properly yet. Also, it is best for one or two adults to be vigilant over the kids come eating time. They have a tendency to run around with a fork in hand when they get too excited over something.
Don't let the issue of baby shower tableware dampen the fun of the party. Decide whichever is most convenient for everybody.
