*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
So you have started a new business. You have done an in-depth study of the market place. You have a killer product - your office is ready - now the fun begins.
I had a long chat with a telesales professional. She was in charge of a company that marketed advertising for a large blue chip company.
Her team had to make 150 dial ups per day - that's right, you heard me correctly - 150 dial ups per day. Let me clarify what a dial up is. If you call and the person you need to speak to is not in - it still is a dial up. If you call and the person is in but asks you to call back later - it still is a dial up. And lastly if you do manage to speak to the buyer - that is also a dial up.
Their working day was 8 hours. When you subtract 1 hour for lunch and 30 minutes for 2 tea breaks per day - this leaves 6.5 hours on the phone = 390 minutes of cold calling. This equates to 2.5 minutes per call on average.
Now in reality, 70% of calls took less than a minute - due to the person not being in or asking to be called back later. So 105 of these calls are completed in 100 minutes. This leaves 290 minutes to deal with 45 decision makers. This equates to 4.5 minutes per call. In reality it doesn't actually work this way. Some decision makers will reject the caller within a couple of minutes - this is great - now you can add those minutes saved by spending them on real potential customers.
What do I mean by telephone terror? This is a well known phenomenon that strikes at the heart of most people who have ever had to do telesales. The main cause is rejection. When a sales person makes 10 calls and gets 10 rejections - S/he feels miserable. S/he feels like the buyers are rejecting him/her and not the product. This leads to telephone freeze - no more calls!
So how do you handle telephone terror? Simple - keep making calls. Work out your averages, so you will know what you face. You should know the following statistics / averages inside out:
How many decision makers do you manage to speak to per day?
What percentages were interested in your products?
How many interested parties did you manage to convert to buyers?
How many rejections you received - that's right - you should know before you start calling how many rejections you are likely to receive - and each time you get a rejection - realise that you have a achieved a positive result - you don't need to speak to that person again!
Start enjoying making your calls and speaking to other people. Some days will be better than others. Always stay calm and don't get annoyed with a potential customer. You never know - you might get a call a few days later with an order!
Practice what you are going to say before you pick up the phone. Record your self - so you can hear how you sound. Ask your partner to listen to some of your scripts. If certain words don't sound right when you listen to yourself - find a replacement. It must seem natural.
Always start of with the smallest potential customers to warm yourself up first thing in the morning.
A final tip - when you have an interested party on the other end - stand up whilst you are talking - this makes you more confident. Use your arms, wave them around whilst you talk. It makes it easier to make yourself understood.
The numbers of rejections you receive in any one day are totally out of your control. You are in control of how many calls you make that day.
Hearing a no brings you closer to hearing a yes and as long as you have conducted the call properly then you have to accept that call only had one outcome which you received. "Some will, some won't, so what, move on"

There are few better places to enjoy a taste of Scotland's charm than in our largest city, Glasgow. With a population of 620,000 people situated in 68 square miles of west central Scotland along the banks of the River Clyde the city occupies much of the lower Clyde Valley incorporating suburbs – with an overall population of 1.4 million people – which extend into surrounding districts.
If shopping is your thing, you've come to the right place. Glasgow's reputation for retail shopping is well deserved - and, whatever your taste, you are sure to find something to suit. Buchanan Street, Buchanan Galleries, Argyle Street and St Enoch Centre are full of the big high street names. Princes Square, the Italian Centre and the Merchant City have a more design-led offering. And for something a little bit different, pop into the West End. Byres Road and surrounding streets offer an eclectic mix of the new and the antique - perfect for an unusual gift or a lazy afternoon's browsing.
Glasgow's cosmopolitan nature is steeped in the city's heritage. Glasgow's international reputation for shipping and industry brought considerable wealth to the city, as can be seen from stunning architecture - a rich tapestry of styles and influences, with Victorian sandstone rubbing shoulders with gothic spires, and classical edifices beside contemporary structures.
Unsurprisingly, a number of the city's museums celebrate Glasgow's architectural heritage or the cultural wealth amassed during the shipping heyday. The Museum of Transport, The Burrell Collection, Glasgow School of Art (and the city's many other Macintosh treasures) and Kelvingrove art gallery and museum contrast nicely with the more contemporary: The Lighthouse, Gallery of Modern Art and the Science Museum.
Forget those nasty rumours - Glasgow offers a wealth of different cuisines, to suit a range of different budgets. From award-winning restaurants to noodle bars, brassieres to old fashioned tea rooms, the only problem you will have is deciding where to go.
If you are just popping out for a drink, choose from coffee shops, style bars, wine bars or good old fashioned pubs. Many lay on music or entertainment, especially during one of the festivals, and Oran Mor (Byres Road) even offers one-hour plays at lunchtime!
Gyms and healthclubs are scattered throughout the city, as are facilities for racquet sports, field and track, swimming, football, rugby and ice skating.
If you enjoy skiing, there are dry slopes at Bearsden and Bellahouston, and the upcoming real snow slope at Xscape at Braehead. A few hours in the car will take you to ski resorts at Aviemore, Glencoe or Glenshee - amongst others.
Golf is also available throughout the city, and the world famous courses at Troon, Loch Lomond and St Andrews are within easy reach.
Some of the country's best sailing waters are just outside the city, with marinas at Ardrossan, Largs, Inverkip and Rhu.
Hillwalking, climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, canoeing, windsurfing, clay pigeon shooting and other sports and activities can all be found in Greater Glasgow and surrounding areas.
Some of country's most beautiful scenery is within easy reach of Glasgow. Loch Lomond National Park and The Trossachs are within 30 minutes' drive, whilst the West Highland Way begins at Milngavie, just outside the city's northern limits. The Ayrshire coast or New Lanark make for good family days out.
Pop through to Edinburgh by car or on the train - the journey is less than an hour - to visit the castle, or travel further afield to explore the Highlands and Islands.
Whether you are interested in eating out, shopping, sports, architecture or art, Glasgow will have something for you to enjoy during your visit. A warm welcome awaits all the tourists.
This is my first guide covering all the places that a tourist should visit in Glasgow. In my second article I will provide more information as well as a little bit of history. Watch this space!

Most dog (and cat) owners are seriously concerned about the safety of the commercial pet food that they are using. With the pet food scares and recalls that are all over the news recently, more and more dog owners want to prepare their own nutritious dog food for their loving companions. However, a balanced diet for you or I is not the same as the one required by our furry friends. Their nutritional requirements are slightly different and these differences need to be taken into consideration for them to have a healthy balanced diet. The 3 major ingredients are discussed below.
Protein
All dog breeds require a significant quantity of protein in their diet, whether from a concentrated meat source or some other vegetable protein source. This is the first and foremost ingredient in a dog's diet. Examples of good protein sources would be chicken, beef, lamb (including organ meat) as well as fish, eggs and cheese.
Essential fatty Acids
The second most important requirement is fatty acids. Of these, Linoleic Acid (Omega 6) is the most important as it is the only one that dogs can't make themselves. Examples of good Omega 6 sources would be vegetables, vegetable oils, grains and fruits.
Calcium
Calcium is another important requirement for dogs. They actually need significantly more than their human companions. Examples of good sources of calcium for dogs would be animal bones which they can chew and calcium supplements obtained from vegetable sources. The disadvantages of calcium from bones are that they may contain disease ("mad cow" disease), have a high amount of phosphorous and contain toxic elements like arsenic, lead, mercury, & radioactive strontium.
Foods to Avoid
There are several foods that you should avoid when making meals for your pet dog.
Onions and garlic - the thiosulfates in these foods are actually very toxic to animals and can potentially cause the red blood cells to burst resulting in haemolytic anaemia.
Chocolate and cocoa products - chocolate contains theobromine which can be poisonous to dogs when eaten in large quantities.
Raisins and grapes - large quantities of these can cause liver failure.
Macadamia nuts - small quantities can cause temporary paralysis.
Avocados- the plant and the fruit are toxic to dogs.
Raw meat - the book is out on this one as many people advocate giving raw meat to their dogs. However, there is a chance that your dog (and you) will get sick from food-born parasites. Remember, if you do feed your dog raw meat, to practice safe food handling procedures. Also practice safe handling of your dog's waste as, although salmonella rarely affects dogs, they can pass it in their feces.
Cooked poultry bones - these bones can splinter and kill your dog.
If you are thinking of changing your dog's diet to a home made one, you should consult with your dog's veterinarian, just like humans consult a physician for major changes in their diet. He/she is your best source of information on pet nutrition and can advise you on creating a balanced home diet. Dietary changes should be made gradually as rapid changes in diet can cause stomach upset or discourage your dog from eating. Just remember that to stay fit, healthy and active your dog needs a nutritious and well balanced diet.

History, a diverse climate, an incredible mix of cultures, and a range of activities mean that the country of Spain is one of the most visited tourist spots in the world. The diverse landscape and peoples make Spain a great destination for vacationers seeking any type of activity. Here are some ideas for things to do in Spain, based on some of the most popular activities.
Visit the Mediterranean
As the Western gatekeeper of the Mediterranean, Spain has long been known for its beautiful beaches and resorts. It is the first of the European countries to border the Mediterranean when journeying east, so it is a natural destination for people from the United States and all over the Americas. Travelers also find a lot of appeal in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean that border Spain on its west coast, above and below Portugal. Northern Spain in particular has been noted for its many surfing opportunities.
Country Tours
Spain is known as one of the world's most productive agricultural countries, and tourists love to take a trip to the many vineyards and olive groves cultivated throughout the countryside. The groves of Jaen and the vineyards of Majorca are particularly popular.
Cultural Events
Any time someone thinks of Spain, they naturally think of festivals. The country is the land of the fiesta, and there are festivals to enjoy year round. Carnival is one of the most famous celebrations, celebrated throughout the country but with the biggest parties in Cadiz and Santa Cruz. The April Fair in Seville is also widely known for its flamenco dancers and its bullfighting, and all over Spain the running of the bulls is practiced each year.
History
Spain is the home of a rich and varied cultural history, evidenced in the many components of Spanish culture today. Spain was one of the northern most points of the ancient Islamic empire; in fact, it wasn't until the years just prior to Christopher Columbus sailing to the New World that the forces of Allah were permanently ousted from the country. This mixed heritage is still celebrated in the Moros y Cristianos festivities in southern Spain in the springtime. As mentioned, the country is credited with funding the person who eventually was given credit for discovering the New World, and there are museums and monuments throughout the country commemorating that historical voyage.
With its varied landscapes and cultures, Spain is a country that has appeal for any tourist.

Plenty of people are intimidated at the thought of buying wine, because 'wine is so confusing'. That is not too far from the truth, because the sheer variety of wine can certainly be bewildering. Therefore, most wine buyers, unless they are experts, prefer to stick to tried and tested brands and vintages. However, you can be a little adventurous when you choose your next bottle of wine. Don't believe us? Here's how:
First up, trying new wines is not as risky as you think. Sometime ago, the Wine Market Council released data that showed that Merlot, Chardonnay, and White Zinfandel are the most popular wines in the US However, with close to 20,000 different wines available in the country, there's certainly room for experiment.
So when you choose your next bottle of wine, you could well afford to be a little daring and buy a wine you haven't tried before. Obviously, price will be a factor, but once you establish your budget, you could try asking the wine store staff to give you some helpful tips about various brands and labels.
Wines, as you probably know, are classified into five broad types depending on their method of vinification: table wines, sparkling wines, dessert wines, aperitiv wines and pop wines. However, unless you're an expert, and we're assuming you're not, you are best advised to classify wines according to taste. Ultimately, you will be the best judge of what tastes good to your palate, so no matter how much anyone recommends a label or a vintage, trust your taste above all else.
Tastes the best
Wines are essentially made up of chemical compounds fairly similar to those occurring naturally in fruits, vegetables, and spices. The taste of a particular wine depends on the grape variety that has gone into its making, but the 'oak cask' factor is at work as well – to be explained later.
So a wine may be dry, off dry, fruity, or sweet, depending on the grape variety. To take an example, a wine's sweetness is determined by the amount of residual sugar it contains post-fermentation, relative to its acidity. Dry wine, for instance, has extremely low residual sugar content.
However, when it comes to flavors, a wine may contain chocolate, vanilla, or coffee flavors, to take only three examples, and all of these come about as a result of ageing the wine in oak casks – hence the oak cask factor. Then again, if you detect a banana flavor, you can attribute it to the presence of particular yeast, and not any grape. Similarly, plenty of people report detecting animal scents in wine, once again attributable to natural yeasts.
Finally, here's a list of some relatively uncommon brands that you could go for the next time you choose a bottle of wine:
Nebbiolo: A red wine that tastes of leather, tar, stewed prunes, chocolate, liquorices, and roses
Tempranillo: Another red wine that contains vanilla, strawberry and tobacco flavors
Melon de Bourgogne: A white wine with lime, salt, and green apple flavors
Viognier: Yet another white wine that tastes of peach, pear, nutmeg, and apricot
Chenin Blanc: A white wine with wet wool(!), beeswax, honey, apple, and almond flavors
Sangiovese: An earthy red wine that tastes of herbs, black cherry, and leather
Mourvèdre: Thyme, clove, cinnamon, black pepper, violet, and blackberry flavors combine in this red wine
Sémillon: An appetizing white wine that combines honey, orange, and lime flavors

When Bridget Jones, the heroine of Helen Fielding's hilarious novel Bridget Jones's Diary, invited friends home for dinner, she served them blue soup (courtesy blue string that she had used to bind the celery). This was, of course, after she had planned an elaborate three-course dinner involving shepherd's pie and soufflé and other such delights. And therein lies one of the keys to holding a fun dinner party: don't bite off more than you can chew!
A dinner party is meant to be an occasion for joy. What good is it when it leaves you an emotional and physical wreck from the strain of too much cooking, not enough breathing, and too much worrying? An easy way to ensure a fun dinner party is to remember some of the best dinner parties that you have attended. What did they have that others didn't?
Too many people spend too much time worrying about the food and drink (will there be enough?), seating arrangements (who goes next to whom?), and such things as table linen (beige napkins or white?). That is not to say that you can ignore these matters altogether, but just that you should be able to work out some sort of balance that allows your dinner party to become a fun occasion.
A huge step in the right direction is to make a list of everything that you liked about the fun dinner parties that you have attended. That way, you know what you can do to make yours a success. Conversely, you can also list some of the things that you hated about your least favorite dinner parties, just so you know what not to do.
Now here are some more dos and don'ts:
Do not wear yourself out worrying about the food. You'll only end up cooking too much and crowding the table. Stick to two or three courses that you know you can handle well, and if you have fastidious guests, make sure you know their likes and dislikes. For instance, if a guest is on a diet, you should know what to serve him/her
Unless it is a really fancy dinner party, don't fuss too much about table linen, cutlery, serving dishes, etc. Stick to the basics and focus more on making the conversation around the table witty and pleasant
Prepare all your food in advance. Nothing is worse than a host scurrying to and fro from kitchen to living room to attend to both the cooking and the guests simultaneously
Do not invite people that you don't like
Ensure your guests know that they have to be there by a specific time
Pre-plan for potentially embarrassing incidents such as a drunken guest, tension at the dinner table because the guests aren't getting along, etc.
If you think someone has had too much to drink, make sure s/he doesn't have more
Finally, if you feel you absolutely cannot handle the cooking, order your food, but make no attempts to hide that fact!

Everybody loves a dinner party and they are excellent times to get your friends or family together and reconnect or celebrate. A great idea to keep in touch with your friends is to have a dinner party night set up on a regular basis. You can have friends visit your home one-week and you can visit theirs the next. These are great for keeping in touch with your friends as well as celebrate with each other. Dinner parties are also excellent celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, and other life events.
Dinner parties can also take on different themes. Murder mystery parties are especially popular with you have enough willing participants. You can also have food style themes such as soup parties for the winter months or Thai dinner parties for an exotic twist. Whichever party you choose you want to be certain that you have an excellent menu and some fine wine.
A simple dinner party with friends is the easiest to plan. If you know your friends well, then it should be relatively simple for you to plan the menu. Invite your friends over for a nice Italian dinner or whatever type of food you choose. Be sure to keep it casual and you may even ask them to bring their favorite wine or wines. You will also want some great dessert planned and perhaps even some fun games for after dinner. These are great and casual parties that allow you to just kick back and enjoy being with friends. Perhaps next week they will invite you over for dinner. These types of parties are also great alternatives to going out to eat, as you get to try different styles of cooking without breaking the bank.
A formal dinner party can also be a lot of fun. Sometimes you just like to dress up and have some fun. The menu should be something special and not something that you all eat on a regular basis, however, the meal should be easy to prepare so that you are not in the kitchen all night and not able to enjoy the company of your friends.
Once you have your style figured out, you will need to begin planning how much time it is going to take to prepare the meal. You want to have plenty of time to conversate with your friends and you want to have time to enjoy the meal yourself. Be sure to plan ample time for cooking, visiting and cleaning. You also need to consider who is coming and if their diet has any restrictions. You may have some friends who are allergic to shellfish, so your Shrimp Scampi might not be the best recipe idea. You may also have friends who are vegetarians, so your New York Strip steaks might not be a great idea either. Be sure to plan plenty of time for grocery shopping and recipe preparation or adjustments.
For a more formal affair, you may choose to print out small menus and invitations to your dinner party. If so, your preparation will need to begin early enough so that you are able to announce the party and ensure that all guests are invited and able to RSVP in time. You may also need to purchase special paper for menus and invitations. You will also want to be sure that your guests are compatible. Do not invite individuals that may not get a long together and be sure to invite those who will be disheartened if you don't invite them. Try to invite people with the same interests so that there will be a good flow of conversation.
Next, you will need to determine how you are going to serve the food. Are you going to allow guests to serve themselves via a buffet in your kitchen or are all dishes going to be sat on the table. For a formal dinner party, you may plan to have all plates prepared and delivered to guests sitting at the table.
Cooking can be stressful. If you are making a new recipe, you may want to make it a week before as a test. If you can make your dessert the night before you will also save a lot of time. Another excellent idea is to prepare cold appetizers and desserts so that they are not taking up precious oven space. If you feel that you are going to be in the kitchen for a while invite your guests to hang out and pitch in the preparation of the meal. You can chat, have a glass of wine and your guests will have a good feeling of being helpful. Besides, people love to watch other people cook.
After the meal be sure to offer mints and a nice liqueur or dessert wine. Coffee is also excellent with dessert and will sort of give finality to the meal. Use this time to ask your friends what they liked and disliked and how you can improve the recipes.

Google's AdSense is a fascinating revenue-sharing opportunity for small, medium and large web sites. Some webmasters are designing brand new sites specifically for serving AdSense text ads. (It's against the AdSense rules to design a site purely for AdSense, so you'll want to include a few affiliate Affiliate links or sell your own product, too.)
Let's say you have a goal of earning $100,000 a year from AdSense. Is that possible? Let's see … $100,000 divided by 365 = $274 a day. So your goal is to produce either:
* 274 pages which earn $1 a day or
* 548 pages which earn 50 cents a day or
* 1096 pages which earn 25 cents a day
The following are hypothetical cases. To earn $1 a day per page, you need, per page…
* 400 visitors, 5% click-through rate (CTR CTR) and average 5c payout.
* Or 200 visitors, 10% CTR and an average 5c payout.
* Or 100 visitors, 10% CTR, and an average 10c payout.
* Or 100 visitors, 5% CTR, and an average 20c payout
Let's assume you choose a goal somewhere around the middle, say aiming for 50 visitors per page and want 274 pages earning $1 a day. You'd need 274 x 50 = 13,700 pageviews a day.
Does that sound too tough? If so, you'd better look for more profitable keywords and ways to improve your click-through rates.
Let's try a different scenario, You choose more profitable keywords and make your $1 on average per page from, say, 10 visitors. 274 x 10 = 2740 pageviews a day, That's looking easier to achieve, If your average visitor sees 3 pages, you now need 913 unique visitors a day.
Is that too tough to achieve in your niche? If so, create two sites, each attracting half that number, 456 unique visitors, a day, Can't achieve those click-through rates and payouts? Then you'll either need more pages on your sites on more niche sites.
Please note, because of the AdSense rules, these are all hypothetical cases. I'm not allowed to give real cases. Real CTR rates and payouts vary hugely.Choose the goal which best matches your site or sites.
Then start building keyword-rich pages containing well researched, profitable keywords, and get lots of high quality links to your site.
For example, if your site is about topics such as debt consolidation, web hosting or asbestos-related cancer, you'll earn much more per click than if it's about free things.
On the other hand, if you concentrate only on top-paying keywords, you'll face an awful lot of tough competition.
What you want are keywords that are high in demand and low in supply, So do some careful keyword research before you build your pages.

The Usual Suspects: Just because you give her a traditional and low-cost gift doesn't mean it can't be extra special! The key again to giving a great gift is to make sure it appears handpicked for the receiver! So for each ordinary gift below, we've added an extraordinary way to make it unique.
Homemade Perfume – Perfumes are an instant hit with ladies of all ages. But how to give Mom her favorite perfume if you're looking to spend under $20? Don't sweat it (pardon the pun). We've got you covered with the following tip:
To personalize it: Make your own perfume! (You'll be shocked out how well this comes out, and so will she.) First gather a few basic supplies. Glass beakers or measuring cups are best for mixing because plastics and metals react with the ingredients creating a different fragrance outcome than intended. You will also need bottles to store your creation. Make sure they have tight fitting lids to prevent evaporation. Glass stir rods like the ones used to mix drinks are the best utensils for stirring since a metal spoon can contaminate the mixture. Next, grab your basic materials: pure grain alcohol (Vodka is the best source for this—buy the cheapest kind since you won't be drinking it), distilled water (tap water can cause contamination), and essential oils. And now for the fun part: choosing your fragrance notes. Make sure to choose Mom's fave scents for a symphony of smells she will give a standing ovation!
Base Notes - Remember to consider the note properties of your oils. Begin with your base notes of sandalwood, moss, fern, vanilla, lichen or cinnamon. These scents will last the longest and anchor your perfume.
Middle Notes - Middle notes are a bit lighter and include geranium, ylang-ylang, lemongrass, and neroli. These oils will brighten your base notes and help form the main theme of your perfume.
Top Notes - Finally, choose your top notes from lime, orange, lemon, orchid, lavender, rose or bergamot. These are the lightest scents that you will smell immediately upon application of the perfume. They tend to dissipate quickly and leave the base and middle notes to linger.
Plants – If your mom loves gardening, then gifting her with plants of different types will make a great gift idea.
To personalize it: Give her a different plant for each month. In the soil of each plant, "bury" (but keep it partially visible, so she will see it) a note which describes why that plant in that month reminds you of her.
Recipe Book – A recipe book is perhaps one of the most adorable gift ideas to try this Mother's Day.
To personalize it: Write your own special recipes inside for her to discover! And be sure to include a few that you learned from her, along with when she taught them to you first. She'll be touched to realize that her traditions are becoming yours.
Cards – A card with just the right greeting for her never fails to impress.
To personalize it: Add a beautiful rose or other flower to your card for the mother who likes flowers and their fragrance.
Flowers – A magnificent bouquet or flower basket makes a good gift idea for your mom.
To personalize it: Add a special mini-card to each flower stem. Inside each card, write one way that your mom is unlike any other mom.
Household Items—Since Moms do so much inside and outside the house, basic household items make a useful and great gift idea.
To personalize it: They might be household items, but they don't have to be boring. Tie a ribbon around Fabulous, the wonderful smelling cleaning agent, with a card that reads "You have always been this to me". Do the same for Comet bathroom cleaner–"You are my comet…I hope I'm your shooting star"–and Resolve carpet cleaner–"You have always helped me resolve even my toughest problems". (Hey, we never said we weren't corny. More than likely, so is she.) Put them all in a wash bucket with a bright bow on it.
Free coupons – Pamper her with free movie tickets or spa coupons...just make sure she doesn't know you got them for free!
To personalize it: Attach a card that says that you will be her date for the event!

Can the regular Joe on the streets ever affect the crazy gas prices plaguing this nation? The answer is a resounding, well maybe. You see, the human species has a massive capacity to affect everything in our lives, adversely or positively. One person can make a massive difference and even change the course of history. They simply have to make the choice to turn off the TV and do it. But, there is one other thing that can change the course of history to a much further extent than a single human being, and that is a group of people, a mass of people an entire country full of people. To really make a change it takes millions of voices screaming out 'no more!, We've had enough!" Instead of one person undertaking all the work himself, millions can each do one thing consistently until the government, the corporations or whoever realizes that something is different, that us lowly citizens have actually gotten our act together and stopped allowing ourselves to be herded around like cattle.
A few days ago I received an e-mail that intrigued me. Now as an advocate of the environment I'd much rather see us switch to renewable energy, but until that day I have to get around just like everyone else. But with gas prices settling in at $2.75 in my part of the country, just going to the store is putting a strain on my pocket book. In other words you can just not leave your home. We must go out to forage at some point. Boycotting gas was out of the question and I certainly don't have the expertise to build my own solar powered vehicle. I can't walk the ten miles to the grocery store and back.
Back to the e-mail and the answer. Oil companies have fought with one another since the beginning of the industrial era. They fight in pennies to retain customers, creating what called a price war. It never ends and we as consumers and use this weakness to our advantage. The two largest suppliers of gas at this time is Exxon and Mobile are now one, making this task of our much easier. And the task? Do not buy from this company or any gas station who retails their gas.
The oil companies will tell you this will never work, but when you consider it logically you have to know that it will work. Once their sales drop and ExxonMobil feels it in their pocketbooks they will drop their prices in an attempt to lure back their customers. Consequently when the prices begin to drop and people return to Exxon other stations will miss their new clientele and drop their own prices to bring them back. Obviously, we will never again see the days of $1.50 gas but I'd be happy with $2.00 at this time.
Now, I don't know about you bet I get a little tired of being filled with excuses. To much demand and not enough supply. But when you see gas prices suddenly increase 20 cents or more in the month leading up to summer when we all go on vacation, I find it truly hard to believe that oil companies aren't taking advantage of our desire for a get away.
That said, to truly spearhead and motivate a movement such as this takes work and commitment and it takes a lot of angry people. Who knows maybe we can change the course of history this time, or heck maybe we could all just switch to solar powered cars and leave the internal combustion engine behind. That would really hit them in the pocket book then.

Every spring farmers and urban dwellers spray their yards with tons of artificial fertilizers. This of course makes for acres of beautiful green grass, weed free of course and makes for an easier way to prepare fields for cultivation. But what most people aren't aware of is that not all of this fertilizer remains in the ground where it is placed. A lot of it is washed away with spring storms in the storms drains. Most storm drains eventually dump into a creek or stream. As we all know from elementary school geography. All creeks and streams flow into ever widening rivers of water and ultimately into the ocean.
This matters because the increased levels of nutrients in the ocean causes algae to grow and reproduce out of control. This creates a phenomenon better known as the red tides in the oceans. It creates algal blooms in river as well. Red tides deplete the water of oxygen thus causing fish and other marine animals to suffocate. Red tides also block sunlight from penetrating into the water, thus killing plant life below and starving herbivorous fish and other marine animals. As you can imagine this creates a chain of events leading right up to people. Once the fish begin to die those that feed on the fish begin to starve, including larger fish, marine mammals. We in turn are deprived of a major food source. While all of this is bad it does not directly impact our lives since we have alternate source of food upon which to rely.
But wait, red tides have another more dire weapon. A tiny, microscopic animal associated with red tides releases a poison, known in the scientific community as brevetoxin. Sadly, it is this poison that is blamed for the death of more manatees in 2005 than in any other year. This already terribly endangered animal has been placed into an even more dire situation by inhaling the toxin in its in the water. This causes bronchitis or asthma-like symptoms. What's more is the brevetoxin has been found to infiltrate humans through the consumption of shellfish. Just recently, scientists associated a sharp rise in the influx of people admitted to the hospital with asthma and bronchitis with occurrence of red tide in the region, meaning that humans can be affected by brevetoxin and red tide in the same way that mammals are.
Red tide can be alleviated through the use of natural fertilizers like cow manure or earthworm casings. Supporting organic farmers by purchasing organic foods and products may help to encourage other farmers to take up the green revolution and help to preserve the manatee for the future and ourselves as well.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
West Virginia is the second largest coal producer in the United States. In 1731 the first white settlement was established in Berkeley county. At that time hardwood forests covered 75% of the state and become one of West Virginia's major natural resources in addition to oil and natural gas. Coal was discovered in 1742 and rapid industrial expansion began in the 1870's. While over a million acres have been set aside as state wildlife reserves, West Virginia continues to lead the country in glass, steel, aluminum, and chemical manufacturing.
Needless to say such factories create a lot of industrial waste in particulates released from smoke stacks and coal mines and waste material left over from the manufacturing process. Poultry and cattle farms also dominate the countryside producing massive amounts of manure waste for which there are no government regulations. Where does this stuff go? As I'm sure you've guessed large scale manufacturers and coal producers cut corners where ever possible. Coal producers themselves practice mountain-top removal in which they literally remove the top of a mountain to access coal beds. In other words they strip-mine an area, causing environmental degradation and the mountain itself to erode away from rainwater. In fact in February 26th, 1972 125 people died due to the irresponsible habits of coal mining companies when a sludge pond burst during heavy rains and washed down through Buffalo Creek, West Virginia. It decimated 16 communities and laid coal sludge along what was once beautiful Buffalo Creek.
Water pollution is an inevitable outcome of over-fertilization and chemical use on farms and yards, not to mention the manure from the poultry and cattle ranches. These excessive nutrients in the Potomac and it's subsidiaries create algal and bacterial blooms, which deplete the water of oxygen and block sunlight. This in turn kills native fish and other species. All of these chemical residues will eventually wash into the oceans.
Environmental pollution is a major concern in West Virginia. While it is terrible for native wildlife it also creates dire situations for the people that live there. My family once farmed here in West Virginia, earning a living off the country side. We were robust hardworking citizens, providing our families with what we made from the land. In the 1920's and 1930's coal mining arrived here in earnest and my family soon found themselves living inside a coal camp in Boone County, West Virginia. Coal mining become the motto we lived by and the practice that made this state it's money and kept us all in our homes. All seemed well for the next 60 years, despite watching the coal mines tear apart our beautiful mountains.
Then something happened. In 1991 came the biggest shock of our lives. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, the very first case of cancer in our family ever. She struggled with this disease for 12 years before she succumbed. But it doesn't stop there. In 1993 my grandfather' sister was diagnosed with skin cancer which metastasized to bone cancer and she died 1 year later. In 1995 and 1996 my Grandmother's sister and mother's sister were both diagnosed with breast cancer and continue to struggle with it today. In 1997 her husband, whose only life was coal mining was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Then a cousin in 2001 was diagnosed with prostrate cancer as well. Turns out he was a preacher who never set foot in a coal mine. And the final blow this year, 2007, my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
So you see a family, once a pillar of the community, has been knocked down by a disease that never existed before the coal mines moved into our county. And my family is just one of many facing these issues. I know many more now struggling with this disease.
Last year Discover Magazine reported a new mechanism in inheritance known as the epi-genome. This mechanism is inheritance that works outside of DNA. What I mean is that it is not the standard mode of inheritance we all learned in school, where sperm and egg come together and combine their genes. Epi-genome operates alongside our genetic material. You see everything that we eat, breath or otherwise take into our bodies affect the way our bodies operate. Vitamins and minerals give us the building blocks we need to keep ourselves healthy and strong. Our bodies also consume the chemicals that leak into the air and water from power plants, coal mines or even the products we use everyday, all of which are full of chemicals we know little to nothing about. Just like vitamins and minerals they affect our body's function and not for the positive.
All of these things make up our epi-genome. These, minerals, vitamins and chemicals affect the way in which our genes express themselves. Sometimes things are turned off and sometimes things are turned on. This part of our biology is so little understood by scientists that they have no idea how everything affects our epi-genome. Now here's the catch. We can pass our epi-genome to our children just like we do our genetic material and everything they do in their lives will alter it for better or worse. Then they pass it on. Sort of like passing around a rumor. Everyone hears it and everyone passes it on in a different way.
Simply put this newly discovered mechanism may explain why cancer could so suddenly appear in an ordinarily health family and then be passed down through generations. In West Virginia the pollution from coal mines and other factories have filled our bodies with toxic sludge and it truly saddens me to think that I may have passed this down to my children. It is my hope that someday my children can make this place better, anfd improve their own epi-genomes to pass on to their future children.

Miessence, an Australia based manufacturer born just a few years back, changed the way that Australians think of organic products and also the way that they view the personal care products they've been using for years. Miessence and it's founder, ONE group (Organic and Natural Enterprise), exploded from an unknown to a massive sales increase of 2500% in just eighteen months. Within the last year or so Miessence and ONE group hit the United States and is growing just as fast.
The fact is that consumers, me included, have become aware and wary at the same time of what's in our products. Manufacturers throw stuff in all the time to preserve products, color them, perfume them, with little to no regard for the side affects of such actions. They do it to keep the products cheap, making people want to continue to buy from them. But, the fact is, these chemicals may be costing much more in the long run, in terms of our health and that of our children, pets or the wildlife we enjoy around our homes.
So what is about Miessence that gets people excited? They're certified organic. But that seems contradictory, right? How can face cream be certified or shampoo? When people think of something being certified organic by the USDA their minds generally turn to food and in fact the USDA has no standards set for products other than food. So Miessence certified their face creams and toothpastes, etc. for the food grade standards, making them the first certified organic products on the planet that isn't a food. And heck we used to make our soaps and stuff from plants little more than a hundred years ago. The industrial age introduced us to the world of chemicals and we are just now seeing the havoc those chemicals have done to our bodies and environment.
Yet there are a few catches in the overall purpose that Miessence is attempting to attain. Some of their products use ingredients that can not be certified by any ruling board. Why not? Because some of them aren't even organic.
Let's start with cosmetics. This would include Miessence's line as well as manufacturers like Bare Minerals or other cosmetics companies attempting to make cosmetics safer for women. Mineral make-up does in fact use minerals, but not from mining, due to high levels of contamination. Miessence attains theirs from refined and purified man-made minerals. Zinc-oxide is one mineral in particular. It is used as the white powder base for cosmetics and gives them superior sun protection qualities. It is soft and heavy and recognized by the TGA for it's soothing and healing properties. Actually, zinc oxide has been used for thousands of years as a whitening agent, back when woman preferred a pasty, white complexion. It was obviously a far safer alternative to the lead that many used.
Other common minerals used in mineral cosmetics are iron oxide and mica. Iron oxide is used to give color. The darker the skin or the pinker the blush the more iron oxides are added. Mica reflects light from the face giving it a smoother appearance. Neither have been shown to cause any harm when used correctly, though all of these minerals are claimed to be harmful to the immune system, respiratory system and reproductive system if they are ingested. Now come on, how many of you are going to eat your makeup, considering minerals are basically crushed rock. I personally preferred a baked potato to eating a rock.
Concerns over the harm caused by nanoparticles has arisen in recent years and the way in which superfine mineral powders in mineral cosmetics may affect the body and whether or not it can penetrate the skin. But perspective buyers can be comforted by Miessence's response to such concerns, "The average particle size of our iron oxides is 1.3 microns, which is much too large to be considered a nanoparticle. Nanoparticles are less than 100 nanometres.... very very small!"
So that takes care of minerals. What other ingredients can not be certified by the governing bodies? Well, there is one chemical in the shampoos that stops this Miessence product from being certified: coco-polyglucose, a "non-ionic surfactant" synthesised from coconut and glucose from corn.
So why does Miessence use this chemical? It's rather silly actually, but what can you do? You see, of all of the available plant extracts not a one of them will foam up or become sudsy, leaving you with a product that works beautifully without being soapy, but people refuse to use it. Why? Because in our brainwashed society being sudsy equates to a cleaning products. If don't soap up it don't clean. So what do you do? Well, the founder of ONE group, Narelle Chenery went in search of the safest surfactant she could find to put the minds of those poor people to rest that yes in fact the shampoo will clean them.
Here is what Miessence had to say about polyglucose :
"Polyglucose has excellent dermatological compatibility. It is very mild on the skin. Based on the Duhring Chamber Test it has the lowest irritation score of all common surfactants tested. It is free from ethylene oxide, which can cause nitrosamine contamination, and free from preservatives. It also has a very low environmental impact due to:
1) High bio-degradability - It breaks down readily.
2) High eco-toxicological compatibility - It doesn't harm the environment if released.
3)It is manufactured from completely renewable vegetable raw materials.
It is very good, however it is still not certified organic. ONE Group will do better. They are working on replacing it with a certified organic "foaming agent" of similar functionality, but it takes time. Rest assured that as soon as they have a certified organic replacement that works, they will introduce it."
Other non-organic ingredients include the clays used in masks for cleaning, obviously another earth mineral and once again should not be ingested. The toothpastes have sea salt, again not organic, but natural and clean of contaminants. There are several other un certifiable ingredients in the Miessence products but they all serve a purpose to enhance the products they are used in and of course ONE group goes the extra step to be sure that all ingredients are clean of contaminants and easy on the environment.

The meaning of "organic".
The dictionary says organic means of, related to or derived from living organisms. Most people reading this will say,
"yes, yes I knew that". But what you may not know is that the use of this word by producers and manufacturers can be
misused or misunderstood. It's use is far more complicated then slapping the term on a box or can and calling it
organic. As I'm sure every citizen of this country is aware by now, manufacturers twist terms, words, and phrases into
the image they want to portray to the public. Unfortunately this rarely reflects the true nature of the product,
healthy or otherwise. It's generally a sales ploy.
"All Natural" as an example
We've all heard the words "all natural" for many, many years and we've all been duped for many, many years into
believing this meant the product we were consuming was completely of nature when of course there is no guarantee that
it truly is "all natural." Manufacturers may include plant abstracts or juices in products, call it natural, then add
in chemical preservatives, dies, and perfumes thus rendering an originally healthy product toxic and the public is
rarely aware of it as they go about their daily lives. Not only that but natural ingredients is no guarantee that they
weren't grown in chemical laden fields or taken from hormone laced livestock. This is an example of a very misused
term and one that is unregulated by the government. Buyer beware!
So what is "certified organic"?
The same applies, to varying degree, to the products labeled organic, accept that there are some USDA rules and
guidelines for the use of the term "certified organic". In order for a product to carry the USDA certified organic
label it must be 95% organic. This leaves 5% leeway for manufacturers to insert non-organic stuff, maybe non-organic
ingredients, maybe preservatives, maybe anything. To be guaranteed of a 100% organic product you must look for the
100% symbol. The USDA stamp alone is no promise that there isn't some toxic substance in that extra 5%. Products may
be labeled "made with certified organic ingredients" if they are 70% organic, meaning that 30% may be of non-organic
origins. And finally manufacturers are permitted to list organically produced ingredients on the side label if their
product contains less then 70% certified organic ingredients. So, conclusion: it is very hard to escape the chemical
world we've all been plunged into, willingly or unwillingly.
Certified organic gets downplayed by congress<
Unfortunately for consumers and those dedicated to the organic revolution Congress relaxed its certified organic
guidelines in 2005. Loopholes in new guidelines could allow dairy animals treated with antibiotics, animal by-products
and hormones as babies to be converted to organic production. The loophole may also allow artificial or chemical
substances, including nearly 500 food contact chemicals to be used in organic processed food without approval.
Finally, these new guidelines allow non-organic ingredients to be substituted for organic without notification during
"emergency decrees". This basically opens the consumers back up to the onslaught of man-made toxins when they thought
they were buying healthier, chemical-free products. All this happened despite huge consumer, and organic producer
opposition, making this writer have to wonder whose best interest does congress have at heart?
What does it take to become certified organic?
Needless to say, becoming certified organic by the USDA is very difficult, costly and time consuming. Their guidelines
and rules can be stringent and tough. For growers this includes abstaining from the use of chemical poisons, such as
pesticides, and sewage slug 3 years prior to certification. This often means allowing fields to lie fallow for three
years, producing no revenue for the farmer. Growers may not use pesticides and other chemical poisons during the
duration of their certification. Organic growers may not use genetically altered or enhanced organisms nor may they
irradiate. They must also practice sustainable farming methods which include, soil building, crop rotation, manure
management and conservation of the land. Ranchers must provide outdoor pasture for grazers. Pasture land is required
to be free of pesticides and other poisons as well. Livestock may not be treated with unnecessary antibiotics or
hormones and must be fed only certified organic feed. Finally, growers and ranchers must avoid contamination with
toxins during collection and processing and keep meticulous records of all operations. The guidelines for
manufacturers are just as stringent in their controls. But it doesn't stop there. The USDA sends inspectors annually
to check records and crops. Often times they come unannounced.
So why do they do it? Why do growers choose to go through the rigors of gaining organic certification?
Firstly there is a growing community of farmers, gardeners, ranchers, producers and manufacturers that believe in
sustainable methods of producing food and other products. These people see much further into the future, preparing,
keeping, maintaining and protecting the ground for future generations as opposed to mining the ground for short term
gain. Basically they do it because they believe in it and they believe in its growth and it is growing.
So why the heck do organics cost so much more?
There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly there will be lower crop yield due to natural processes we once
controlled with poisons. Secondly, the rules and regulations imposed by the USDA require much more time and attention
to detail costing the farmer and manufacturer. Thirdly, though growing, the industry remains small. As we all know as
the supply begins to actually balance with demand, prices go down. Meaning the more you buy, the more the farmer can
afford to produce thus lowering his prices. Just like with anything else.
It has even been mentioned that adding together all the money the country spends in health care to treat toxin related
diseases, the cost to clean up toxic spills and other related needs equals or exceeds the difference we pay for
certified organic products which protect our health and environment from ever becoming damaged in the first place.

If you want to visit a city with a tipically tempered climate but that is located in the tropics then you should visit Campos do Jordão in the brazilian state of São Paulo. It is located more or less in between 3 well known capitals of Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte. Campos do Jordão is easy to reach over the highways that connect these cities. As a result, many people visit Campos do Jordão which makes tourism the main economical activity of the city. In the high season, more than a million people visit this fascinating city which is locally known as the Brazilian Switzerland. The city has numerous inns known as "pousadas" in the Portuguese language and what is considered a first world infrastructure.
The city is located about 1800 meters (approx. 6000 feet) above sea level which and with its moderate climate it can be visited all year long. The "pousadas" are open the whole year and for many Brazilians it is a great place to escape the brazilian hot climate (at lower altitudes) and imagine them selves in a city in Europe.
Campos do Jordão is located in a mountain range named the "Serra da Mantigueira" and the fauna consist mostly of pines, cascades, flowers, typical of European regions. In a "pousada" in Campos do Jordão you can have a great vacation, different from the typical Brazilian vacation, without even leaving Brazil.
The fresh climate of the summer makes Campos a great place to stay in the months of december to march, which are the summer months as it is located south of the equator. With temperatures ranging from 18 C to 28 C (64 F to 82 F) Campos is a great escape from the summer heat at lower altitudes.
When searching for a more romantic atmosphere, the autumn is a great season to visit Campos do Jordão. The local flora and fauna create lots of different tones of colors which are unlike the lower regions of Brazil. For Brazilians it is even a special treat to see the leaves of the trees all over the city on the ground: A great atmosphere for a romantic walk.
For most Brazilians, the winter time is actually the nicest season to visit Campos do Jordão. Especially because the temperatures in Campos during winter can reach to below freezing, which is a very rare event in any other region in Brazil. Consider that Campos do Jordão is as far south as Cuba is north you can imagine that freezing temperatures are an attraction in Brazil. Also many festivals are organized in this time of year and many celebrities visit the city, both to take a vacation and to perform.
The spring time brings beautiful surprises to the visitors. The European vegetation shows itself full during this season. Lots of colors, typical to more temperate regions. The city transforms it self unlike any other city in Brazil and again this is a great reason to stay in one the many "pousadas" in Campos do Jordão.

In the financial markets information is everything. Those with information make smarter moves quicker and are better placed to make sound investment and trading decisions. Some of the leading stock trading and investment firms have whole buildings devoted to their research teams. Some of the brightest minds from some of the best schools are at work in deciphering every morsel of news and information that is out in the open and even more care is taken to extract information that is not out in the open.
Long considered an extremely risky market, the OTC (Over-The-Counter) or the penny-stock market has developed and is in the process of streamlining its disclosure process. What had been a market where public information was meager as compared to what the company insiders and handlers knew, has now embarked on attempts to help the average person get more information about the company one is interested in.
The OTC market will still not be on par with the information that is publicly available for the publicly traded and listed companies on the major exchanges. However, the first step in the right direction is being taken as beginning in May 2007, more classification and delineation is being made available to the general public.
Among the categories under which penny-stocks may be classified include Emerging Equities, SEC Current, Current Information and so on. Based on the disclosure to the public and the level of adherence to SEC guidelines and the GAAP accounting principles, the pink-sheet stocks will be appropriately classified. This allows far more disclosure and openness for the OTC market participants, whether as a company official or as an investor or a trader. Moreover, the classification helps narrow one's focus down to only those companies that meet certain criteria as considered to be important by the user. For example, a trader who wants to deal only with those companies that are rather open in their disclosure can look under the Emerging Equities list and can do so with ease. On the other hand, those that are looking only for distressed companies but have offered some information in the most recent six months can look up the list of "Limited Information" classification.
While the research that goes into one's decision is not eased much by such new classification categories, one's focus is now greatly limited and one can use one's resources and time more wisely and effectively. In a market where time and resources are very valuable, this move definitely is the right step forward in the right direction.

Article Title: Samsung D840 - Integrating Style With Technology

The Samsung D840 has set itself apart as one of the best looking slide phones available. Its sleek, curvy design appeals to all types of mobile phone users and its classy silver finish makes a very sophisticated phone. Not only is the D840 attractive, measuring only 12 mm, it is the thinnest slide phone in Samsung's line up.
The chic design of the D840 closely resembles the trendy LG Shine, while the functionality and features of the phone are very similar to the Samsung E900. The large, reflective display screen offers outstanding quality, and the slide is smooth and very simple to operate. The navigation keys just below the screen are also easy to use, though the center key is designated as an internet button rather than the more common menu selection.
Typical to slide phones, the D840 features a flat keyboard that is responsive and user friendly. The user interface is also great for all levels of mobile phone users. Navigation through the menus is quick and easy. The D840 features a series of numbered pop-up menus to walk users through each option with the touch of a button.
The Samsung D840 also features a 2 megapixel camera that is capable of recording video as well capturing digital pictures. While the D840's camera doesn't compare to the quality and clarity of the D900 camera phone, a 3 megapixel version that includes auto-focus, the D840 still performs better than many other camera phones on the market. The placement of the camera, however, somewhat interferes with the sleek design of the phone as it protrudes from the otherwise smooth back.
Users can download ring tones, games, and other applications with little worry of overloading the D840. The phone features 80 MB of internal memory, as well as the convenience of adding an external microSD memory card. The expandable memory slot is easy to access, even with such a thin phone, because it's located on the right side of the handset rather than the more common location behind the battery.
The versatility of using downloaded ring tones on the D840 leaves something to be desired, however. MP3 ring tones can only be set to ring, and there is no option to set these tones to vibrate. Only a select few of the available ring tones can be set to vibrate and ring, creating a big inconvenience for many mobile phone users.
The D840's music player supports a variety of formats, including MP3 and AAC, and provides quality sound through either the speaker or the designated headphones. The phone doesn't feature an external 3.5 mm jack for other headphones that may include MP3 controls. Another drawback to this music player, common to many Samsung mobiles, is the lack of FM radio.
While the Samsung D840 may not be the most advanced mobile phone regarding its features and performance, this trendy phone makes up for it in style and looks. The D840 is an easy to use mobile camera phone with one of the hottest designs available in slide phones. If you are looking for a simple, easy to use phone that looks absolutely terrific, the D840 is ideal.

With a reputation for innovative, stylish and functional mobile phones all rolled into one convenient package, Samsung make even their average handsets stand above many of its competitors, and this is why it's one of the "Big Three" mobile phone manufacturers. With the D800, however, the time may have finally come for Samsung to have slipped up, even if it's just a minor slip. However, first the positives.
Like the predecessor on which it's based, the hugely popular D600, the phone is as stylish as you'd come to expect from Samsung. Small, compact and mixing black with chrome to an effortless sheen, there's no doubt that this is yet another winner in mobile phone design. It's a little larger than its older sibling, yet it never feels too big, mainly due to Samsung's continued use of the screen slide option.
The screen is also larger than the previous D600, and with 262,000 colours mixed with 240x320 pixels, the Samsung D800's picture is sharp and clear. This is just as well, as the camera, although good, is a little less powerful than those of Samsung's competitors. Whereas 2.0 mega pixels are the norm, the one on the D800 is only 1.2 mega pixels, leaving the picture quality a little less defined (although the newer screen does its best to make it look as good as possible).
There are the usual multimedia features on the Samsung D800, such as Bluetooth for easy file sharing, and an MP3 player so you can download and customise your own ring tones. However, although the sound is clear, the D800 is lacking in the bass area, and can therefore leave songs sounding a little tinny, especially if you're a fan of rock or dance music.
Another area of contradiction is where the memory is concerned. Although the D800 is no slacker when it comes to internal memory, with a generous 80MB provided, there's no feature or slots to allow you to upgrade this memory by inserting an SD card or similar. When other mobile phones of a lesser spec than the D800 seem to be able to have this feature, it seems all the more conspicuous by its absence here.
Although it makes up for this in other ways, by offering voice command calling options as well as a voice recorder and other office functions, it still feels like the D800 is a slight step backward for such an innovative company. Don't get me wrong; the D800 is still a good, solid mobile phone. It's just that in this day and age, with even less specced mobile phones offering slightly more options, Samsung seem to have forgotten that a mid range mobile phone needn't mean average.

Life is full of rehearsed habits! Some of them are bad and some of them are good. So are the choices we make. Fundamentally, I believe that the choices we make will form our lives in a negative or positive direction. Every choice we make has a consequence for tomorrow and further ahead.
We have the ability in us to choose and create our future. This ability is individually gifted and every individual can do the impossible! Every person in this world is an influence in one way or another. And we all are influenced by others.
To create a good life I believe that you need to first and foremost make right and good decisions. You need to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say that you did it with integrity and only for the good. We all have to make difficult choices where we are not in control of what will happen, and that is good! We are not gods! We don't have to know everything, because we will not know everything, that's a fact. Maybe we think we do, well I have news for you then, that's a lie! But I believe if we act with good and positive intension's when we make choices this world will be a better place.
Many people only make decisions based on the "now" feelings, but is that good? Feelings are a nice thing but if we act on feelings all the time then the world will go mad, if it is not already. We need to act with integrity and compassion towards others.
The friends that we have and the people that surround us will determine who we are and what kind of life we have. We have the ability to find good friends. But good relationships just don't come overnight. We need to work on it. It is hard but the fruits are the best in life!
You and I can have a good life and see our dreams come through because of the right choices. The power of a dream is powerful and you should dream. This world needs dreamers and people who are acting on it! You have such a great future ahead of you and you can do the impossible. I pray that the great potential in you will be released. God bless you.

You will keep on guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny
-- Psalm 73:24
What is destiny? I believe that destiny is a thing between good choices and divine intervention. I deeply believe that God is in control and that He wants us to live life to the full and enjoy it.
He is a good God who wants the best for us. He knew about us when you and I were in the womb of our mother. There is a great purpose for your life - no doubt about it and you have your free will to choose. Isn't that great?
Since the beginning of this world billions of people have had the ability to make their own choices. Some of them were bad, very bad and some of them were good. I believe that many of the things we see in our world today are a consequence of peoples' choices. This might sound disturbing and worrying, but think about all the good and positive things as well. You for example!
You have a great destiny and a great future ahead of you. You can make a change and be a huge influence. Make good choices and find a wonderful destiny, preplanned ahead of you!
I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart. . .
-- Jeremiah 1:5
You cannot do whatever you feel you want to do. If you base your life only on current emotions your life will be horrible. Because some days your emotions and feelings will be sky rocketing and you think you can do anything. Then there are other days, when you are licking the walking street and it's almost impossible to look yourself in the eyes!
These two very different emotions will make you chose two very different decisions. Listen to your emotions, and consider your decision and the consequences before you do it! Then do what is well-balanced. You cannot base any relationship on feelings alone. I know that feelings are a good thing. But if we look at relationships we need to have more than just feelings. There is a difference between being in love and love itself. Being in love is a temporary thing, but actually loving someone in spite of differences, even when everyday life sets in, is the lasting kind of love. This is not based on spur of the moment feeling, but on deep respect, affection and choice. Some think it is just OK to find another partner if the feelings go away.
That is so sad and a huge misunderstanding of the human mind. Don't get me wrong I love feelings and it's a great thing, but if I only act on them and make my choices "with" them I'm in trouble! I need to go beyond my emotions and feelings when I make choices. If I go to a huge shopping mall I will get tempted to buy all sorts of things. At least the stores try to affect my feelings at "that moment" when I pass by the store. And maybe if I can't control that feeling, I will end up buying the whole mall and go bankrupt. To sum up the point, make choices with both your heart and mind.
Destiny is not a matter of chance, but a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, but a thing to be achieved.
-- William Jennings Bryan
You life is full of choices and your destiny is a choice! You have the free will to create your life. The decisions you make can have an impact on entire countries. What starts out with a small thought can end up being your future.
For example, people like Bill Gates, George Washington, Martin Luther King, and the Pope had to make some choices to become who they are. I am not saying that you need to be like Bill Gates or become the new Pope. You just need to be yourself and live your life to the fullest and be the "new" you!
I remember when I was 18 years old. I had to make a decision about what I was going to do with my future. As it is for most teenagers and young people, it can be hard to figure out especially that! I wasn't sure at all what I should do. I had thought about working in a printing house, but the thought bothered me. But one day as I read in the bible I felt in a very powerful way that I had to sign up for a "Christian discipleship training school" which I had heard about. And even though I applied very late I got the chance to attend the school where they trained us to go out and sail with a big ship and teach others about the love of God. The school was an opportunity for young people to sail in the very beautiful seas of Denmark and Sweden. The ship was called AGAPE which means "God's love" in Greek. When we cast anchor in the harbors, we usually had some time to talk with people about faith in God and help them with any questions they might have. We also had great meetings in different harbors and in city squares with hundreds attending. We even went to places where there was troubled youth as well. During that year at sea, I developed an enormous desire to work with people and help people in one way or another. I did not base my decision on this one feeling. But slowly I got the desire that I wanted to use my life helping others and show them the powerful love of Christ. Even before this year as a "teenage missionary" God had started something supernatural in my heart. You can read my powerful story about God's love, grace and power right here: Click here . Today many years later, that is what I am doing.
And with that desire in my heart, I have gotten even more crazy dreams that I want to achieve.
Before I went on the ship, I had no ideas for what I would experience. I really just did it because the Holy Spirit told me too, and I took the chance. Maybe you are worrying about your future and thinking about your destiny. But my advice to you is to just take it easy. Read your Bible and pray. Travel somewhere, get to know some NEW friends and remember to keep the good old ones. Do something different and you will see the world from another point of view.
Don't let television create your life, but let your life create television!
-- Peter Hansen
You are not only influenced by your own choices, friends, family and your dog; but television is properly the source that impacts you the most. We live in a global culture where everybody seems to do the same thing! Cultures are getting the same and the world is getting smaller (especially the western world). Life issues and problems are the same no matter if you are in Europe or in the United States of America. We listen to the same music on MTV, watch the same movies, some TV shows, and TV series and we almost eat the same kind of food. At this moment, the whole world is getting globalize. I like the thought of "global culture" but I can see a problem, and that is that the media is becoming kind of a role model for our generation. The media influences us and tells us how to live our lives. We all have the choice not to be controlled by the media or other people who can influence us in a bad way. Try to turn off the television and Internet connection and you will see how addicted you are!
Your destiny is worth far more than a stupid soap opera or www! If you want to become a history maker, then it's your choice.
Integrity: what's that?
Definition of Integrity:
Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change.
One of the greatest qualities in a man or women is integrity. As you can see in the definition for integrity, it is about honest and moral values. It's about doing what is right. If you build your life with high moral values and honesty, people will respect you. They will be able to look you in the eyes and say you did all you could do. It will give you a strong personality and a great destiny. If you look below, here I will give you some key words to help you as you continue to read:
Make other people succeed.
Be a real role-model.
Encourage people around you and build them up.
Do not humiliate anyone.
Forgive people for what they might have done to you.
Keep up your self management.
Do not gossip.
Do to others what you would have them do to you.
Do what you say and keep your word.
Do not pass any confidential information to others.
Whatever you do, do it with the right motives.
Believe in God and trust him with all your heart.
Do not lie!
As an easy guideline you can actually use the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament. Read over them, think about them and use them!

Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed. -- The Bible
This world needs big dreamers and achievers that will make a change in our world, and you are one of them! Yes you. You have a great potential within you, and you have the choice to write and create history. Gods' purpose with your life is so overwhelming and good. Grab it!
Why not just invent the future!
Do you have the winning attitude?
We all have the ability to see our dreams come true. The power of a dream is powerful in the hands of a person with the right positive attitude; the winning attitude! A dream that comes true is not just pure luck; but it is rather hard work, perseverance, and a positive mind. The winning attitude is a positive mind. Do you think positive thoughts or is your mind filed with skepticism and negative thoughts that destroy every single dream? If you want to see your dreams come true, start to think positive and look for an opportunity in what might not look too great. Do you see the cup half empty or half full? Start in the small and you will experience what is inside of you grow, and become a beautiful tree with lots of good fruits. It all starts with a small seed, and then you feed that little seed with positive thoughts and then it will start to grow.
Our dreams must be stronger than our memories. We must be pulled by our dreams, rater than pushed by our memories. - Jesse Jackson
A dream is not just a goal you will see fulfilled in the future. No, a dream and a goal is a journey in which you go though adventures and hard work and enjoy your life. You need to take some risks in life. Take the chance and do the impossible and get the experience of being on un-safe ground. That is where you grow and you will see a side of yourself you have never seen before. You need to get out of your comfort zone and step out into the water.
I remember when I was a kid, I was really afraid of rollercoaster's. When I was 18 years of age I had the opportunity to sail with a sailing ship for a whole year and though that year I just had to get used to all the waves and winds. Well I grew up in Scandinavia where we have the sea almost next to our front doors! And I have never been seasick, but still I was afraid of heights and big waves. But on the ship I tried it all; I forced myself to climb the huge masthead way up in the air. Off course I had a safe line! But I realized that I loved it, and stayed up there and have kept going back since then.
Sometimes we experience hurricanes while being on the sea. I often had to climb the mast to pull the sail. And while the ship was going crazy jumping up and down and even under the water and us being on the deck. It was insane! But I still loved it. It was a great challenge that really helped me develop my personality and to believe in myself. Since that time, I have continued to go on adventures, and keep on dreaming. I believe that adventures can shape your life, and it is never too late to go on one. Do not tell yourself that you are too young or to old, because it is never too late. Get out of your comfort zone!
You need to get out of your comfort zone. You need to do something that will "shake up" your life. Don't be lazy, sitting in front of the Internet the whole day and playing online games. It is so easy to do nothing; actually that's the easiest thing in the world. But to take a step in "faith" takes courage. If you do not think you have courage, then just do it anyways! You need to get out and do whatever makes you shake from the inside! You do not need to go to Kosovo or to some planet out in space. It can be the simplest thing, like helping distributing food to the homeless or cleaning up the beach for trash. The one thing I know for sure is that it will change your life. As you step out, doors will be open to you in life and your dreams will be "taken care of". Helping others is the best thing you can do. You will start to see things from another perspective. Your own dreams will suddenly have a new focus. Your dreams will be sharper and clearer!
See the invisible, doing the impossible.
See what no one else is seeing
Think what no one else is thinking.
Do what no one else is doing.
Make a difference.
Many years ago I heard this quote, "Heroes see through their eyes what others miss. They see through their spiritual eyes. Heroes see parts of the world that others miss." Keep your eyes open for even the smallest opportunity. You never know what might happen next. It doesn't have to be the thing you actually dream about, but maybe it will lead to that dream. On an adventure you don't know what happens next, but it is exciting. Take the change and unlock your potential. Keep your eyes wide open for the needs of this world.
We need men who can dream of things that never were. -- John F. Kennedy
Jesus Freak Supporters
I am a big soccer fan and have been inside many stadiums. My favorite club that is in Copenhagen has brought me lots of attention. Then when I was around 20 years old, I got the crazy idea of making a new supporter group/fraction. I am a Jesus Freak, so why not just make a Jesus Freak Supporter group. It all actually started when I bought a soccer jersey from the club, and had them to write Jesus Freak on the back. I tell you, people looked at me and asked questions. I was standing among the most hardcore supporters with my Jesus Freak jersey!
Jesus Freaks!
Then one day I decided to create a Jesus Freak Supporter group for the soccer club. And while searching though the internet I found another Dane who was looking for others who wanted to start a Jesus Freak Supporters group as well. We met and started the first official Jesus Freak Supporter Group in our favorite soccer club in Copenhagen, Denmark. Our group grew fast and we even made a magazine and website as well. The media wanted to know more about us. They interviewed us and we came in many nation wide newspapers. It was really a great experience. I had a dream and it came true. It was hard of course, but I was driven with energy because I had a passion and wanted to see it accomplished. You can do the same. See one of your dreams come true by the right attitude and hard work.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
--Frank Outlaw
Please take one more look at that quotation. Keep it somewhere and remember it! As I started key two, which talked about the mind and out attitude, I wanted to end with it. It is so highly important, and maybe the most important of all when we talk about our life.
We need to watch our thoughts. Are you a positive influence on yourself and other people? Start to think positive and visualize your dreams come true in your mind. There is hidden power in your mind. God created your mind, so please use it! Surround yourself with positive people, who are full of energy, and this will make the journey easier. Getting the support from your friends and family is also important. Maybe they think some of your dreams are a little weird, but that doesn't matter!
Think big, talk big, act big. Because we have a big God. -- Kathryn Kuhlman
Our words:
We need to watch our words. The power of the word that comes out of our mouth is bigger than we realize. Even an innocent joke we say can have devastating consequences or a tiny comment can make the world go mad. Watch your tongue. It will be your life. If you are always negative your will have a negative life where everything is bad. Even the weather. "Now it is to cold….. Now it is to warm……" if what comes out of your mouth is always complaining and negative words you will surely be depressed! The people you hang out with will be depressed as well. Break that circle and renew your thoughts and words. Be an encouragement instead of a discouragement! If your friend is always complaining, then tell them to stop for a minute and start to speak good and positive things to his/her heart. Keep doing it, but refuse to listen to all the rubbish all the time.
Friends are important, and we should listen to them when they need us just to listen. We should also be mature to tell our friends if they are always complaining and need an attitude adjustment. What comes out of your mouth? Is that positive? Is it building people up or breaking them down? You have the choice to build with your mouth! What does come out of your mouth? The next time you talk, try and listen to yourself, and see what comes out. If it's mostly negative then change your vocabulary.
Every word you speak will have an impact on your mind and actions! So be positive, talk positive. Do not fear obstacles, use them instead. Tell yourself that you can do it, over and over again. Train yourself in using some of these positive words: I am a child of God! - I'm a winner – I can do the impossible – I will – I can change anything! – It's easy! – I love my family – God is giving me peace – I have no fear –I can do it - God is my coach!
This is closely connected to a winning attitude. So mind your words.
Our Actions and habits:
Beware of your actions because they could become your habit, which then could lead to a change in our personality and character. I've heard if you do the same thing for 21 days it could end up creating a habit in your life. If you take some exercises for 21 days, you will properly continue doing it. So if you complain about the same thing for 21 day you will continue to complain! And you will be like a complaining jukebox! Or you can decide to be a person of positive influence. Why not try it. Give it a chance and create some good and healthy habits in your life that will be integrated in your character. People are looking for others who have a strong character and who are a role model.
Habit and character will create your life. And the great thing is that you can help yourself! You have such a great future ahead of you, and you can do the impossible. I pray that the great potential in your life will be released. Start to dream, and do not be afraid of the impossible. The impossible is possible. God put something in you to help you on your life adventure. So, as I said earlier, step out on the water and walk on it!
Qualifications come when you follow the purpose, your dreams and goals. Your potential will be unlocked Don't be discouraged, but keep moving. Don't give up. Presidents and leaders were ordinary men, but they kept dreaming and trying even though they met opposition and faced discouragement.
Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3-4

A Desperate World in Need of the Pure Gospel!
Billions of people are living in poverty around the world. About 2.8 billion people are living on less than two dollars a day. Millions are dying from starvation and diseases in the Third World. The global financial crisis has caused millions to lose their home and the world has probably just seen the beginning of a major global crisis that not even the financial experts could have foretold. The threat of nuclear war is hanging in the air and the most powerful nations of the globe are fighting for the last reserves of oil.
While some families can't even afford a single meal on the table each day, others are addicted to drugs, gambling and alcohol. Millions in the west are so mentally depressed that they try to escape this world of loneliness in alcohol, drugs, perversions and suicide. The world is screaming for help and solutions for a messed up society that has nothing to offer but endless talk shows and online entertainment.
People are seriously desperate for finding a deeper meaning, hope and inner peace. This world seems to have everything to offer, but in reality is more out of control morally and spiritually than ever. I can boldly say that this world needs the full gospel message of Jesus Christ. Not another sermon or conference about self happiness, but the pure full gospel of salvation. That is the one and only thing that can bring peace to the mind and restore the soul.
But how sad it is that the preaching of the full gospel has been downgraded to some cultural light gospel show with fancy stage performance and blinking lights! Where are the full gospel preachers who dare to stand up for the truth, who dare to preach salvation, hope, hell, holiness and grace. Where are those who proclaim that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven?
The problem is that millions of people have been deceived and blinded with a feel good gospel, a light lukewarm message that only talks about happiness, prosperity, self-development and "me, me and me" instead of "Him, Him and Him!"
Where did the gospel go?
Is today's modern church really afraid of teaching the full living gospel? Is it afraid of being politically incorrect and offending the masses? Many churches are on a very dangerous path. A path that will only lead to possible destruction. Let me point out, that if there is no gospel message of sin, grace, repentance and salvation there is zero!
And while thousands of churches are playing "seeker sensitive churches" and being politically correct, millions of non-believers are screaming for spiritual truth that can give them real hope and reality based on the word of God. The truth of the gospel will set them free, but if there is no one preaching the truth of the gospel, many will go to hell, believing in a different gospel (2 Corinthians 11:3-4) (Galatians 1:6-7) . That is the hard facts. A very good place to read and study what Jesus is saying is in Matthew chapter 24. Jesus mentions here in chapter 24 that many will be deceived by false prophets and teachers.
It is so easy for self-proclaimed prophets to make up weird crazy doctrines and get thousands of followers, because in many churches there is a great lack of Christian discipleship based on the word of God. The focus on Jesus and his teaching and discipleship has been replaced with "feel-good teachings" that totally lacks the important teachings about repentance, sin, hell, grace and holiness.
On a five week mission trip to Ethiopia recently I was scheduled to speak in different churches. In my sermon preparation I felt a deep conviction to preach and focus more on the gospel that Jesus taught and His life, more than I had ever done before. And the pastors and local evangelists were amazed and almost shocked by the clear gospel teaching, because they were not used to that!
We have to remember that the gospel is what sets us free. We need to bring the full gospel back in our churches, mission fields and to a desperate seeking world. There is only one hope and that is Jesus Christ. We have to renew our passion for being in the presence of Jesus. We must take up our cross and lay down our lives and follow Christ and be filled with the Holy Spirit. We must renew our minds daily in God's presence. We must study the life of Jesus and the Word of God and let it become part of us, inside out.
The living word of God will change your life and you will see its powerful effects, and not only will you be empowered by his Word, the world around you will experience the saving and healing power of Jesus Christ. Make the gospel the focus of your life and ministry and tell others as well.

Healthcare workers are constantly involved in caring for people of all ages. Be it infants or the elderly, they all are individuals who have different abilities and feelings. However, there are similarities too. People at different stages of their lives have specific needs that may be common. Once you know what these are, you will be able to provide specific age appropriate care at every stage.
Healthcare workers spend a lot of time with patients of various ages. By considering the age appropriate requirements of each patient, you will be able to provide the best possible care a person needs so that he/she can regain his/her normal capabilities.
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), in 1991, made it mandatory that all healthcare employees involved in evaluation, treatment, and care of patients be knowledgeable about age-appropriate care. Age appropriate care training is essential for healthcare employees so that they can provide the best care to their patients.
The main aim of age appropriate care training is that healthcare employees become aware of the different age groups. Age appropriate care training will help them identify the needs of the different age groups and keeping those needs in mind they can plan the protocol for patient care and treatment.
When you consider the elderly, ie adults above 80 years of age, there are a number of other things to consider and watch carefully as they have a higher chance of developing chronic illnesses. Here are a few things that age appropriate training will teach you about age-specific care for the elderly.
• It is important to encourage the patient to perform his day to day activities as independently as possible. Social, mental, and physical activities must be encouraged to the maximum. It has been seen that a peaceful and active mind can lift a sick person's spirits and speed up the recovery process.
• Patients over 80 usually have a lot of medications, which can become quite a problem. Hence, it is important to chalk out plans that include even the tiniest of details. You can support your patient by using timed reminders and color codes to encourage him/her to follow the planned schedules. Due to age there may be taste changes and inability to chew food, which should be a significant consideration. Healthy eating habits and lots of fluid intake must be promoted. It is crucial to remember to treat your patients as adults and not patronize them and treat them like children.
• Caring for older patients also involves encouraging them to prepare wills and trusts. Before they are discharged you must make sure that the patient is equipped with necessary ramps and such so that he can perform all activities of daily living without any problems.
As healthcare employees when you care for patients of different ages, you must remember that they have different physiological and psychological needs. With these differences in mind, you will be able to provide individualized and specialized care to all your patients.

These days it is not only medical and paramedical workers who are attending CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation classes. The classes have gained popularity amongst the general public as well. The techniques taught in CPR classes are life saving and important for all.
CPR involves the administration of maneuvers like chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth breathing on victims who stop breathing, or enter cardiac arrest, or when their heat stops functioning. CPR is a life saving technique that can help you save the lives or family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers.
Here are 5 important facts about CPR classes that you must know.
• Usually CPR classes are conducted in schools, government hospitals, offices, and so on. Qualified medical personnel like a nurse or a doctor will usually teach the class. The class includes training regarding CPR procedures which involve chest compressions and maneuvers to stimulate artificial respiration. Artificial respiration can be done by mouth-to-mouth breathing or by using a special device that pushes air into the lungs of the victim.
• The classes incorporate a good practical exposure where specially designed mannequins are used for trainees to perform their techniques on. A special button fixed on the mannequins informs the trainees how much pressure they are exerting and a small balloon inflates if the right amount of air is breathed into the mannequin. This is very helpful as trainees can learn to apply the maneuvers in the right manner. CPR techniques are vital as they restore the blood flow to the brain and heart and keep the person from dying till the ambulance gets there. It must be noted that it cannot be guaranteed that CPR will definitely save the victim's life. It will however increases the chances of survival and stabilize the victim till professional medical help arrives.
• At the end of the CPR class, there is usually a test. The test includes real life scenarios which test the individual's knowledge about how to respond in emergency situations and their ability to perform the techniques. On successfully passing the test, you will be awarded a completion certificate.
• Certain offices and organizations make it compulsory for their employees to know CPR; for instance, navy personnel, police forces, lifeguard, and so on. These organizations may offer CPR classes at the workplace itself.
• Usually CPR classes are free of cost. If you do have to pay, it is a very minimal fee. There are also different types of CPR like beginner and advanced, and you can choose one depending on your requirements.
Today, CPR classes are available online as well. These classes are becoming increasingly popular owing to the convenience and flexibility of taking the classes from the comfort of one's home. The significance of CPR classes cannot be denied. It involves learning a few simple techniques that could potentially save a life. It also increases awareness among the people. If you would like to make a difference, don't hesitate to enroll yourself in a CPR class.

Manmade and natural disasters occur without a moment's notice and always catch you unaware. Unfortunately, people don't usually think about the likelihood of disasters ahead of time. As the saying goes, it is better to be safe than sorry, it is important that you prepare for the worst ahead of time. Studies have shown that people who have prepared and are equipped for disasters have come out of them less affected that those who have not. This is true in all disaster cases, be it plane accidents or accidents on the ground like hurricanes and earthquakes; when people have been prepared, they have fared well (or better than average, most often).
Disaster preparedness training is important if you want to prepare yourself and your loved ones in case of any unforeseen disasters. Disaster preparedness training is also essential for office and business employees. Here are five points about disaster preparedness training for offices and business centers.
• Although disaster preparedness training is important for every family, it should be a special consideration for offices and other work places. The employers are responsible for the lives of other people and therefore it is up to them to organize an appropriate response in case of unexpected situations. Offices must be equipped with adequate kits and supplies, while also ensuring that employees get to attend disaster preparedness training sessions.
• The first step is to invest in some high quality disaster preparedness supplies and kits. Those supplies that are designed by emergency personnel and first responders are always of superior quality as they are the ones who have tons of field experiences in dealing with unimaginable disaster situations.
• As an employer, you should approach the local fire department to provide training classes for disaster preparedness for your employees. The fire fighters will also provide you with the needed supplies. For instance, a corporate disaster kit will include water, food, sanitation materials, medical supplies, and other necessary tools. There are special kits for schools too that include water pouches, snacks, basic first aid, and a light stick.
• Employers must make sure that the disaster plan for their organization is foolproof. It is good to appoint a disaster preparedness coordinator so he can himself learn and then teach others regarding strategies and best practices for evacuation and triage, along with professional first aid techniques.
• Select a few of your employees along with the disaster preparedness coordinator to be a part of the disaster team. In case of disasters occurring, they will be skilled to lead evacuations and conduct rescues as there may be a lot of chaos and it may take time for the first responders to arrive at the scene. The members of this must also be trained in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), first aid, and how to differentiate between minor and major injuries.
Risk management is a vital part of the corporate world. Most times this is limited to reputational risk, financial risk, and so on. Risk management for business should also consider risk to property and people as a result of natural and manmade disasters. Adequate disaster preparedness training for employees is very beneficial in lowering the risk of injuries and death, and property damage that unforeseen circumstances may cause.
