    Or is it?

The slow movement overall is spreading like wildfire. Television shows, major motion pictures, and of course many travel agencies are jumping on the slow travel bandwagon like passengers from a sinking ship leaping for lifeboats.

    Because Slow is hot. Period.

So how can you determine a solid slow plan or destination for your slow travel? A quick Google search brings up some decent results. But overall it leaves you lacking, because many of the top listings are simply doorways to quickie ticket sites like Travelocity or Cheap Tickets. Which, in my opinion, are definitely NOT slow travel oriented.

For those that are new to the concept, it can be amazingly difficult to discern a really excellent slow travel destination from a cheesy imitation simply because these companies hire some of the top marketing firms in the business.

These guys are good at their jobs. So they use crafty wording and lots of fluff to convince you that you've made a sound slow travel plan, when in fact all you have done is set yourself up for a rush trip filled with deadlines, coupons, and headaches.

But there is a fairly simple answer to this problem. One that doesn't take much effort or much thought. It only takes initiative.

Ask someone. Get in touch with someone in the know about slow travel in general. If possible, someone that has even dealt with the company or destination that you are considering. Have someone help you with your itinerary. The old saying is true. Two heads are better than one. If you can find someone that has some experience and knows what slow travel is about, you can easily learn how to avoid the pitfalls.

One place you can look for assistance is www.slowtravelblog.com or www.slowtravel.org . They are both excellent resources and both completely approved and run by The World Institute of Slowness. TWIOS is considered the major authority on slow websites overall and is an excellent place to start. Even the founder, Geir Berthelsen is often available to assist you in your choices and will surely help you with your travel plans or destinations if he can.

www.slowtravel.org is probably your best bet when starting out if you would rather not ask someone for help. All of the sites there are hand selected and manually approved by The World Institute of Slowness. The verification process is extensive, so it is a safe bet that destinations listed there are slow worthy.

You can also try talking to some of the TWIOS members at our forum, which is located at www.slowtravelforum.com. Getting some direct insight by posting on the boards may bring you the advice you are looking for.

However, everything always comes down to personal taste and your views on Slow overall. What is 'Slow' to some, may not be 'Slow' to others. So do your own research as well. By doing your homework and looking before you leap, you are most likely going to make the right decisions. Even if you don't, it is always a learning process and it will make you better for the next time.

Which is what life is all about. Learning how to live it. To enjoy it.

Slow down for your business travel?? Is there really such a thing as Slow Travel for business? Or are business people being targeted with make-believe "Slow Travel" business trip scenarios?

Now that is a serious question.

Is there a straight answer? Probably not. Simply because the answer is going to be a little of both. Yes and no.

Unfortunately we do live in a world where not all of the people possess hearts full of joy and compassion for their fellow man. We do live in the real world, and yes there are charlatans that walk amongst us.

But their business, is none of our business. Our business is to try and make our business trip one we can consider "Slow".

    A real, SLOW business adventure.

Because, hold on to your hats boys and girls...... Yes indeed, Virginia there is a Santa Claus. The mythical is not so mythical. By that I mean there is such a thing as "Slow Business" travel. :-)

Depending upon your schedule (shockingly, slow business travelers will likely still have a schedule), your trip can be whatever you make of it even if you are on a fairly strict time constraint. Because Slow Travel is not always about the time itself. Often it's about how the time is spent. In fact, in my opinion much of the slow methodology is not so much time oriented in so far as tossing your watch into a river. To me it's focus targets the quality of a given period of time and my recognition thereof.

Whether it's 10 minutes, 10 hours, 10 days, or 10 weeks. Maximizing the quality of that time in your life is of the utmost importance. When I first began learning about What "Slow" was all about from Geir Berthelsen (founder of The World Institute Of Slowness- www.theworldinstituteofslowness.com ), it quickly became apparent to me that it had almost nothing to do with the time itself.

It's real value lies within my own personal happiness gained from the appropriate use of that same time.

In other words, an appreciation for what ever time frame you have allotted to you. Giving us the ability to truly utilize Slow Travel in the business world too. Because let's face it, there's not a business trip that any of us have been on where we couldn't take one single minute to stop and smell the roses. Not one conference where we could have gone out in our lunch on the grass, listening to the birds in the trees, instead of working the crowd in a lunch room.

The same holds true in traveling to our business destinations. On any given business trip, with a little thought, we could certainly be a little more creative a lot more fun planning how we're going to get there. There's no reason why instead of the subway we couldn't take a ferry or a boat if there happens to be water between us and our business destination. There's no reason why we couldn't take a train with a sleeping car the night before the big conference, instead of taking the 2 am redye and showing up looking like we were mugged someone along the way.

Yes Slow Travel (www.slowtravel.org ) is about time. But it's not about the quantity of time. Rather, it's about your consciousness of its value and a specific effort to use it to the best of your ability, making it pleasant, calm, serene, and pleasurable. You can spend that exact same time racing, panting and stressing. Or, you can spend the moments making your life just a little better than it was before.

All on the company dime. SLOW is SWEET.

An important aspect of baby communication training that is being talked about lately is sign language. The popularity stems from the fact that it allows you to communicate with your baby before a spoken language is learned. As we all know, good communication between you and your child will be the basis from which they will develop the most important life skill of all...being able to communicate with others as they make their way in the world. It is smart to plan to develop a positive and easy method of baby sign language early. That type of communication with your baby will be a great start for communication and help greatly in their growing experience. Bbaby sign language enables your baby is able to tell others exactly what they want and need. As a result the amount fits and tantrums will definitely be reduced.

Every parent has witnessed the familiar signs of frustration in their baby before baby communication skills are developed and baby is unable to let others know what they are feeling and what they may need. You should start teaching your baby sign language or, more accurately, basic gestures, by example. Because these gestures are visual in nature they are much easier for your baby to learn than spoken words.Gestures are certainly within the range of a baby's repertoire long before the ability to articulate words is developed. Now, no one is suggesting that you sit down and attempt to teach your baby using the American Sign Language system. All is needed is a small range of gestures that mean "I want", "Help me please", "I'm sleepy" and others. If these gestures are understood by both baby and parent, they will serve the purpose of improving communication.

You need to get to the stage where your baby begins to connect a basic gesture with an action, activity or object. If you do this consistently, you will find that over time your baby starts to mimic these gestures. You can also accompany the gesture with the word so that, eventually, your baby will graduate to using the spoken form.

Babies learn easy by imitating what they see everyone do, therefore if you are consistent and basic with using some basic gestures for certain activities and objects, you'll be notice how quickly your baby picks them up. The most important thing is to keep it fun and busy. Each turn the activity of learning sign language into a game and you will see the best results. Those results will help your child when they growth up and learn on their own.

About The Author: Join us while we try to help you understand sign language and ways to learn to sign with your baby. At Baby Sign Language (http://www.basicsigning.com) we strive to provide you with the best information for deaf children.

For most of us, trying to find the best source for cheap used cars can be tricky, especially if you don't have a lot of experience. Like any wise shopper, when looking for that great deal in a used vehicle purchase, the key is in understanding where dealers make the majority of their profits. To maximize your experience and minimize the amount of time spent driving from place to place it is wise to have a good game plan. The process of researching and buying a used vehicle should be approached in an intelligent manner if you want to get a great deal on your next purchase. Be diligent in researching previous owners and previous damage but don't let any of those findings frighten you away because armed with the right tools you will be able to wade through the information and make an informed decision.

One of the first steps when looking for a used car is to know what you are interested in before setting out on the long journey all over town. Do your homework and learn all you can about your vehicle(s) of choice and make sure they suit your needs as well as your desires. The wise person will see past the flashy exterior and loads of extras and recognize the fact that these items may not actually give you an increased value for the vehicle you choose. The key here is to find the proper balance between what you need and what you want as well as looking at reliability and the reputation of the manufacturer.

Although not always possible for the majority of shoppers, it makes a great deal of difference in what you can get and how quickly you can get it if you can afford to pay cash. This will also help instill a level of confidence in your buying ability and in many cases can make the difference in a wise decision and a hasty one with a bad outcome.

It has been said that the best method for getting the best-priced car in the market is to know the market. When you go out to buy new car, the majority of the time the only real factors that the difference in what is paid is the make, model, and features of the vehicle, each which usually have a set price in most areas of the country. When buying a used car not only are these factors considered but also the history of the vehicle including previous owners, how many miles, the age of the vehicle and much more.

After spending many long hours looking for that one perfect vehicle and then deciding that you've found one with a pretty good price and you have convinced yourself that it's time to buy it, remember you can negotiate a better price than what's listed. If you have the right negotiation skills, it is possible to save hundreds of dollars. Start by first inspecting the car, and then ask as many questions as necessary to feel comfortable that you know as much as possible about the vehicle. Take the vehicle for a test drive and then when you think you are ready you can start the negotiation.

Following just a few of these basic principles can make the difference in getting a great deal on your next ride and being taken for a ride!

The mix of the gasoline engine and electric motor provide a great deal more horsepower than one would expect. Additionally, the pure electric mode on the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid extends the gas mileage to an extraordinary 47 MPG.

But even after all the reviews and the great ratings, the question that still surrounds the MKZ Hybrid isn't how well can it perform against its competitors, but if it will carry enough extra kit to significantly differentiate it from vehicles using the same or similar power trains. For people who may only be looking for efficiency may be willing to part with certain luxury amenities in order to save money.

Bottom line is that with Lincoln's take on the Ford hybrid theme it will be much better equipped than either of the less-expensive vehicles in its class. Just to spotlight a few, it will include swiveling HID headlamps, cushy heated and cooled leather seats, and to top it off, a slightly more jazzed up version of the nifty, configurable EcoGuide instrument cluster. For those who may be familiar with the mercury Milan and Ford Fusion hybrids, they have a screen-based botanical garden that grows leaves and vines as a reward for fuel-efficient driving. With the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, they have added pretty flowers! Other standard goodies include Sync voice-activated controls; sustainable wood trim for the dash, doors, and steering wheel; and reverse and cross-traffic sensors.

The feeling seems to be now that with the Introduction of the new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid that it complements Ford's already aggressive global electrification plan while setting them up for the introduction of five new electrified vehicles by 2013.

There are two main manufacturers of RV water heaters, Atwood and Suburban with the majority of RV water heaters and motor home water heaters being either one or the other. The RVs, which do not come with one of these water heaters, are typically in the higher priced range for motor homes which use instantaneous water heaters or some variety of engine assist water heater.

For those units that do have the Suburban water heater, you will typically find them with tanks ranging from 4 to 6 gallons with standard-mount doors. One of the main benefits of the Suburban RV water heater is their longer performance life primarily due to the two protective parts and systems, one of which is the anode rod that almost neutralizes the aggressive water action on the metal tank. The other protective element is the porcelain lining made of a corrosion resistant material to prevent the heated water from drastically harming your RV heating unit. Suburban Water Heaters are offered with a three-year warranty, but to prolong the unit life, proper maintenance is recommended.

The second brand and equally as good as the Suburban is the Atwood Water Heater. This style of water heater features a patented through-tube combustion chamber which utilizes the pilot flame to help maintain water temperature thus preventing heat energy loss. Atwood units are very lightweight and compact which allows them to fit into spaces as small as 121/2" x 16" allowing all controls to be accessible from the front for easy servicing. A large number of Atwood Water Heaters feature a heat exchange system that allows the water from the vehicles engine to be piped to the water heater and then returned to the engines cooling system as cool fresh water. For units that have this option the water in the heater storage tank is first heated by the waste heat from the engine while driving so you will use far less LP gas. The Atwood high-performance models deliver about 27% more hot water than standard water heaters. The mix of both gas and electric provides an increased recovery rate of 50% over the standard gas heater.

For both Suburban and Atwood units which are gas, they use either pilot light or direct spark ignition. RV Water heaters with ignition system with direct spark ignition are best in areas that typically see a large amount of bad weather so you can control the water heater and heating process with a remote switch from inside of the RV. For units that are equipped with pilot lights there is reignitor which keeps you from having to relight the pilot when it is extinguished or when the gas supply is turned off.

The RV's and Motor homes that are equipped with the 6 to 16 gallon size of Suburban water heater are fast recovery units with 12,000 BTU gas input and provide as much as10.2 gallons per hour recovery and with a specially designed insulation jacket, more heat remains used and less heat loss. By utilizing both an electric heating element and gas burner at the same time it is possible to achieve an even faster recovery rate.

Since they are small in size, Suburban RV water heaters can be installed very easily and are convenient to use, operate and maintain. Even if you have an RV heating unit from other manufacturer installed it can be replaced and with Suburban accessories the installation is a snap.

Ok so in Texas people drive crazy in the snow and ice but they also drive crazy in the rain. I can understand slowing down and taking your time but do we really need to go 20 mph on the freeway? I was thinking about this the other day as I was driving home so I decided to do some research on tips for driving in the rain. I came across this website called Cars for Keeps with some pretty good information. It gave me a little bit more insight on the safety hazards of driving in the rain. Not only from a crazy driver's point but now I can understand the need to be a little more cautious when driving in the rain. Maybe next time I won't get so irritated. Here are some of the tips from Cars for Keeps. If you want to keep your new or used car or truck out of your local Arlington Chevy Dealers service department maybe you should read up and let me know what you think.

Here are a few things to be aware of when you're out there in a Texas rain storm:

    1. We all know the dry spells we go through here in Texas. 100 + degree summers can get to us. So it's imperative that after a dry spell when some big rains come in you be extra careful out there. Oil and fumes can and will build up on pavement. So when it starts raining all that crud will rise to the surface of the pavement increasing your chances of sliding around cause it will be very slick out there.

    2. Have you ever hydroplaned before? One time in my younger years there was a big rain storm in DFW and I was coming across the bridge from 121 to William D. Tate and my car hydroplaned causing me to do a few 360's on the bridge when my car came to a stop I was facing on coming traffic. Whoa!! You see when the rain is coming down so hard like it tends to do here it gets so thick that it will literally cause your car to float a little. One good way to avoid hydroplaning is to slow down so that your car or truck can be stable on the pavement. Be aware of braking when this happens cause you could lose control of your car and start spinning the best thing to do should this happen to you is just take your foot off the brake and try to steer your vehicle straight.

    3. You cars brakes can not be trusted. Remember the blog I wrote on driving on black ice? This is very similar. A good rule of thumb no matter how annoying it may be to the drivers behind you is to slow down, light braking, slow acceleration. If you're in a hurry and having to brake fast and you're hitting the gas quickly you could cause yourself to hydroplane or worse.

    4. Turn your lights on. When I was in high school I wanted a silver car. My mom wouldn't let me have one cause she always said in a really bad thunderstorm people wouldn't see me cause I would blend into the traffic. I learned later in life how important it is to turn your lights on when you are in a rain storm because there have been several times when I've been driving behind someone and I didn't see them until they hit their brakes. The same could go for you. You could be driving along and someone could come flying up behind you and hit you cause they can't see you. So always always turn your lights on when it starts to rain.

    5. Those tires and windshield wipers are important. Make sure you get new windshield wipers yearly and it's always a good rule of thumb to once a week check your tires for proper inflation and tread. If you have little to no tread on your tires you run the risk of sliding around and hydroplaning easier. New windshield wipers will give you better visibility so you can travel as safely as possible and be aware of what's ahead.

Can you think of any other tips for driving in the rain?

Honda, like most other manufacturers, has placed a premium on their point of sale (POS) products. The most widely circulated of these point of sale products is their individual model brochures.

In this article, we are going to take a thorough look into the 2008 Honda Accord marketing product brochure. This is a 23 page brochure that Honda has invested a tremendous amount of money hoping to persuade the general public that this is more than a car, but an extension of who you are.

"In Developing the new Accord, we considered the road…and everything beyond it." This is the lead in for the brochure. Honda is trying to create the feeling that the 2008 Accord is designed to be than just another car, it's a driving experience.

On Page 4, they cleverly turn the Accord into a personalized driving machine. "To surpass everything we've done before, we've looked for inspiration beyond where it lives to where you live. Precisely tuning the new Accord to the demands of the road, and to desires of its driver." The marketing department wants you to imagine that the new Accord is going to taught the nuances of your driving environment and learn the way you drive on the roads you drive.

Turn a couple more pages and find that even with a Honda, "Sex Sell". "This is about lines and curves and shape. In other words, it's about desire." They mention that the new Accord is designed to invite a stare and that it can stir passion. Everyone wants to seen in the right place with the right people and of course in the right car. Honda has done a great job on this page to address the "Right Car" part of this equation.

As you continue through the brochure, "It's like no other Accord we've ever built. It's like every Accord we've ever built." If it aint broke don't fix it, well Honda knew the Accord was not broken, but they wanted you to know that they completely scrutinized all facets of the Accord and refined all areas to make the latest Accord the greatest Accord.

Honda has always been about its engine. The reliability of a Honda will never be undersold. Now, to go along with the engines unsurpassed reliability, is a new found power plant and environmentally emission friendly design. "It starts with a commitment. It starts with a promise. It starts with an engine."

Of course, Honda had to touch on what is becoming "The Marketing Catch Phrase" "DNA". This is simply what engineers' thought process was when creating the new Accord. They wanted to be environmentally friendly, "Green". They wanted the Accord to be safe and at the same time be fun. They are convinced and wanted to convince you that they have accomplished all the above.

The overall design and layout of the 2008 Honda Accord brochure gets a big thumbs up. They have managed to touch on the emotional side of the potential buyer and let them imagine what it would "Feel like" to own the 2008 Honda Accord. Being one with your machine, getting noticed, sexy, fun, safe and "Green" is what they want to feel. If the Accord comes close to the sales pitch of the brochure, Honda has another homerun on their hands.

Most people rely on the water heater in their recreational vehicle. Having a camper is a luxury for numerous reasons. Maintenance however, is needed on your RV on a regular basis and you will benefit if you do preventive maintenance. It can be performed by you or by a recreational vehicle dealership. You will enjoy a trip for sure without the hassle of having no hot water when you are ready to take a shower or do the dishes for your wife. If you need to replace a Suburban RV water heater you can change it with the same model, or you can upgrade it if you have one of the more basic Suburban RV water heaters.

Suburban RV water heaters for the most part come in six and ten gallon capacities. The main variation is if it is has a pilot light or an electronic ignition. Most people like to have the ability to have their RV water heater light with a flip of a switch from the inside of the camper. This requires the water heater to have a direct spark lighter instead of a standing pilot light. While the DSI is nice, it is a little more expensive. Suburban makes a model with a standing pilot, and a DSI model, and also a gas/electric with DSI. If you have a Suburban RV water heater with a six gallon six gallon tank you probably want to stay with that size, but you might want to pick one to exchange it with that has a DSI option, or the electric (120v ) option or maybe splurge and get both. You don't have to stay with the exact brand, but you need to check the opening size to make sure the one you pick will fit if you are splurging and making the leap to get a nicer one. Suburban RV water heaters are very dependable and you can get repair parts easily.

Your camper should always have a water heater that is working properly so that you can take showers or use hot water whenever you might need it and not be in trouble with a "I told you to fix it". Whether you're taking a trip for the long haul or just going away for the weekend, having a functional RV is going to make the experience much more enjoyable for everyone. One of the best tips I could give you is to make sure to test it before you leave on your trip. While this will not guarantee that it will work when you get there or that it won't become inoperable while you are using it, I feel confident that it will for sure give you much greater odds for a great trip.

Here are some of Suburban's most common models:

SW6P -- -- this Suburban is a pilot water heater

SW6D -- --- this Suburban is a direct spark ignition water heater

SW6DE ---- this Suburban is a 6 gallon gas/electric with direct spark ignition

SW10D ---- this Suburban is a direct spark

SW10DE-- this Suburban is a 10 gallon gas/electric direct spark ignition

Unlike trying to sell so many other products, trying to sell a used vehicle can be very tricky. With so many things that a person needs to be aware of and with so many dealerships offering warranties and guaranties of quality, selling a used car on your own can be a major feat. So what are some of the best techniques for selling a used car on your own? When we get right down to it, there are really only about four main areas to consider when deciding to put a used car up for sale privately.

For most people when looking at so many cars available from both private owners and dealers the two most important factors that are considered first are the reliability and safety of the vehicle. Truth be known, almost anyone who has ever bought a used car has stories of used cars that they bought where shortly after the purchase they began to experience mechanical failures. If you are smart, before putting any vehicle up for sale it would be a good idea to have the vehicle serviced. At the very least you should have it checked independently for any obvious faults, particularly those that might be considered issues with the safety of the vehicle.

Next and most obvious you need to make sure that the vehicle being sold is roadworthy. In most areas around the country and in the Used Cars Cincinnati area where I am from, this is usually determined by the fact that it has a valid Ministry of Transport (MOT) certificate. If this is not available, it is the responsibility of the seller to make this known before selling the vehicle. If this is not disclosed, it is possible to be prosecuted if it can be proven that a vehicle was sold with prior knowledge of a dangerous condition.

The third aspect that is most often considered is the sale price of the vehicle. This is where your own personal selling technique has to be refined because no matter how good your techniques may be, they will never be successful if the price you are asking is way out of line with the fair market value for the vehicle. In the Cincinnati Used Cars market especially where there is a lot of competition for selling used cars, it is vitally important that you gauge the market and price your vehicle at the right margin level to make yourself competitive. This is why it is important to do some research in order to determine what might be a realistic price to attract potential purchasers?

The final factor to consider is that you need to put yourself in the shoes of the buyer where you would not want to be told false or misleading information so you should not make misleading statements about the vehicle being sold or misrepresent to the buyer in any way. Once you have reviewed this information and taken action on what has been outlined above the next step is to discuss the best methods for selling the car.

There are so many ways to sell your car and like most of us your going to be anxious for a quick sale, but the best way to guarantee yourself the most profit is simply through your own efforts rather than taking short cuts and giving up some of your profit by taking it to a dealer or part-exchanging it for another. Experience has shown that one of the most common and generally successful methods for selling your car is to advertise in your local paper. As long as you put the effort into creating an ad that stands out when advertising with so many others, it is possible to get it sold in a matter of a few days. If you consider peoples buying habits and place your ad on a Friday, this allows people the weekend to look at the car and should increase the odds of having a higher number of interested parties giving a higher prospect of getting the price that you want.

As another option many people are turning to auctions to sell their used cars. Auctions can be using a local lot, or could be through the Internet using services such as EBay. Using an auction can be attractive because people are under the illusion that this will ensure them of getting the maximum possible price.

So no matter what method you choose or what techniques you decide to use, the bottom line is you need to do your homework, make sure your vehicle is in the best possible condition and that however you decide to move forward there are no guarantees.

There seems to be a lot of confusion when using the word RV and what it describes. It is my hope that this simple little article will help in understanding all that the letters RV encapsulate.

First RV is short for Recreational Vehicle.and is generally used to refer to a mobile vehicle equipped with living space and amenities often times found in a home. The majority of recreational vehicle will normally include some combination of a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and a living room. For many, the term RV represents a motorhome, but while that is true it also covers other types of recreational vehicles. The main categories would be Motorhomes which covers Class A motorhomes, Class C motorhomes, B+ motor homes, and even a couple of other areas such as the toy hauler motor homes, B class motor homes, and Super C's. Then there are the Towable categories which represents travel trailers, hybrid travel trailers, toy hauler travel trailers, v-front travel trailers, work and play travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy hauler fifth wheels, low profile fifth wheels, mid-profile fifth wheels, high profile fifth wheels, entry level fifth wheels, luxury fifth wheels, and fold campers also called pop up campers.

For most people who opt to go the route of purchasing an RV their main reasons are to give them more freedom to enjoy everything from brief leisure activities such as vacations and camping, to full-time living in trailer parks. As you can tell the letters RV covers a huge arena of products of which I named above. When you add brands and niches to all of the above it becomes a giant. It is hard to understand and even harder to make a decision on what to purchase. Questions like what type would work best for me? What size would work best? What is the difference between the brands? Do I have the right tow vehicle? I know I want a towable type but should I get a travel trailer or a fifth wheel? Should I get a bunkhouse camper or a mom and pop style? Should I buy a Sandpiper Fifth wheel by Forest River Inc or a Wyoming Fifth wheel by Coachmen? Should I buy a wildwood travel trailer by Forest River Inc or an Autumn Ridge by Starcraft RV?

These are all great questions and we are writing articles almost everyday to add to our article directory. The decision on what type of RV to purchase rests entirely with the individual. Yet to help make that decision here are some things to consider. Do I want to drive my RV or pull it with a tow vehicle? Is it going to be set permanently? If so definitely a Lodge park trailer would best fit this need. One of the best tips I could give is to visit a RV dealer and sit down with a sales consultant and talk your needs through with them or visit a RV dealers' web site and look through the product and then e-mail them with questions.

I wish you the best in all your RV adventures. Happy Camping!

Like with anything in life that requires a great deal of effort there will almost always be a process that one must follow in order to insure things are done completely and accurately. Body shop repair is no exception. From the initial accident to the insurance claim and estimates through the final repair and completion there are an enormous number of items that need to be addressed. Here is a quick overview, from the management of Northgate Ford, of the steps which may make your life easier when the time comes to get your vehicle repaired:

    Step 1. Getting an Estimate

In most larger body shops that are better equipped to handle repairs better, in order to provide the most accurate estimate possible, the collision estimator will enter all the information about the repair into a computerized estimating system. A report is then generated outlining the work that will need to be done along with the costs involved.

    Step 2. Getting Insurance Approval

Once an estimate has been obtained from a reputable collision repair shop, a representative from the insurance company may want to inspect the vehicle and prepare their own estimate for comparisons. Before the repair process can begin, in most cases the body shop must work with the insurance company to make sure the figures on the body shop estimate is in line with the figure from the insurance company as well as with the repair procedures needed to fix any damage. Because of this step, it is not uncommon for an insurance company to evaluate as a total loss so no repairs will be needed.

    Step 3. Disassembly

Occasionally there may be the need for extra charges due to additional damage that is found after a vehicle has been disassembled for repair. When this happens, photos will be taken of the damage and the owner and possibly the insurance company will be contacted to get approval for any additional repairs.

    Step 4. Ordering Parts

Before any work begins and in many cases before you are asked to bring your car in for repair, all parts will be ordered for your vehicle's repair to make sure they are available when the work begins. This insures the repairs are done quickly and efficiently with the least amount of inconvenience to the customer. Occasionally, there may be the need to place a special order for parts which can then add time to the repair process.

    Step 5. Frame Repair

Most larger collision repair shops are equipped with sophisticated repair systems that enable them to carefully and accurately measure, analyze, and align the frame of your vehicle to restore it to its original factory specifications.

    Step 6. Body Repair

Depending on the nature of the damage to the vehicle, there may be the need to perform some major body repair. The body repair process involves replacing any damaged exterior parts as well as any necessary metal finishing.

    Step 7. Paint

After all of the repairs have been completed and parts replaced, the next step is to repaint the repaired areas. Generally a computerized paint-mixing system will be used in order to match your vehicle's paint color perfectly. To ensure the best adhesion possible, the areas to be painted are sanded down then are masked and primed for refinishing.

    Step 8. Reassembly

After all necessary repairs are completed and the vehicle has been repainted, the next step is to reassemble any parts that were removed and/or repaired. A check is then made to verify that your car is structurally sound and ready for delivery.

    Step 9. Inspection

When everything has been put back together and the technician is satisfied that the work is complete, a test-drive of your vehicle is completed in order to perform a quality control system check to make sure everything functions correctly and the repairs have been completed successfully.

    Step 10. Completion

When your car is ready for pick up, the repair service manager will meet with you to review your invoice and answer any questions. The goal should be to make sure you're 100 percent satisfied with the work.

If you are an avid camper, it is most probable that you rely a great deal on the water heater in your recreational vehicle. Having an RV can be enjoyable for numerous reasons whether it is tailgating, traveling, or just simply camping. No matter how you might use your RV, maintenance is always required and the best kind is preventive maintenance. It needs to done by you or by an RV service center that has a qualified RV technician on staff so that you might enjoy your trip without the hassle of not having the water heated when you are ready to do dishes and more importantly, when you get ready to shower. When it comes time to consider replacing your RV water heater, you can always replace it with the same type, but just remember that in most cases you do have other options to consider.

Atwood RV water heaters mainly come in two different sizes, the six and ten gallon capacities. The main variation is whether it uses a pilot unit or a direct spark ignition. Most campers like to have their RV water heater to light from the inside of the camper. This requires the DSI ( direct spark ignition) instead of the pilot model. While this is a nice feature, it does cost more, but it is a cost that most find worth it for the convenience. Atwood makes a pilot model, a DSI model, and a gas/electric with DSI. If you have an Atwood six gallon RV water heater you will probably want to stay with that capacity, but can you do have the option to pick one to replace it with that also has a direct spark ignition, electric (120v ) option or both. You don't necessarily have to stay with the same brand, but you will want to check the rough opening to make sure the one you pick will fit if you have made the decision to move forward with an upgrade. Atwood water heaters have a great reputation in the RV industry and have readily available repair parts and great customer support.

Your RV needs to be in good working order, and that includes having a high quality, functional water heater so that you can take showers or use hot water whenever you might need it. Whether you're taking a trip for the long haul or just going away for the weekend, having a functional RV is going to make the experience much more enjoyable for everyone. One of the best tips I could give you is to make sure that you test your unit before you leave on your trip. This will provide you the confidence that it will work when you get there and that it won't become inoperable while you are using it. By doing these few simple steps I feel confident that your next trip will be a great one.

Here are some of the most common and or popular model numbers for Atwood RV Water Heaters:

    Atwood G6A-7 -- 6 gallon pilot

Atwood G6A8E --6 gallon direct spark ignition

Atwood GCH6AA 6 gallon gas/electric- direct spark ignition

Atwood GCH10A- 10 gallon gas/electric direct spark ignition

For most people the thought of buying a used car can be a very stressful time due to all of the potential problems and issues that they may face with buying something that has already been used. What many people do not realize is that even new cars today can have there share of issues and there are no guarantees either way. But with the rising cost of new cars and the economy being what it is today, making the decision to buy a used car can be a smart decision. If you do your home work and check with all of the resources that are available online these days, you can get a car that's almost as good as a comparable new one without dealing with the depreciation that comes with the purchase of any new car. Many people are finding that with cars that are only 1 or 2 years old are being traded in and are anywhere from 20 to 30 percent cheaper than brand-new cars.

But for most people they are looking for all the right reasons for why they should buy a used car. Simple things such as saving money on insurance or finding one that may still be under warranty can be great reasons to buy used. A large number of dealers In the Used Cars Cincinnati area are now selling certified used cars that include warranties For those who are willing to spend the time and effort to search out the great deals bigger bargains are possible. The fact that more information than ever before is now available on most used cars such as Car Fax reports makes it easy for used car buyers to spot potential bad purchases.

When most people begin the car-buying process they already know the type of car they want. But regardless of whether you are convinced of what you want or not, it's always a good idea to take a step back and ask yourself one simple question to test your decision, "Will I be able to afford this car with the monthly budget I have in mind?" Depending on how you answer this question and because you won't know what is available in your area until you start looking, you may have to expand the scope of your horizons. One common practice is to start by building a target list of at least three different cars that you may be interested in. Consider vehicles in the same class but maybe from different manufacturers.

As I mentioned before, use every available resource available online such as Edmunds.com, AutoCheck and CarFAX. Every one of these reports can assist in revealing critical information about the used car such as if it has a salvage title or if the odometer has been rolled back. For many people, this is can be a deciding factor as to whether they want a Certified Used Car which is now being offered by many reputable dealers in the Cincinnati Used Car market area. A crucial part of the used car buying process is to inspect the vehicle to determine its condition. Buying a Certified Used Car from a reputable dealer that has passed a thorough inspection and is backed by a manufacturer's warranty will give you peace of mind that you are getting the best deal with the least possible number of issues. But even though buying a certified used car can eliminate a lot of the guesswork about a vehicle's mechanical condition, you will end up paying for this service.

Once you have made your decision on what to buy and from whom, in the end it is all about getting what you feel comfortable with because like most of us this will be an investment that you will live with for many years to come and you need to have the peace of mind in knowing that you made the right decision based on all of the facts that you could possibly get your hands on.

Over the past 30 years Atwood has been designing and manufacturing water heaters for motor homes, trailers and many types of recreational vehicles. Atwood got it start by using the special techniques for the marine industry and quickly saw the application for use in the RV industry and has since become the leader in this market. Atwood is the largest manufacturer of specialized water heaters for recreation vehicles and marine use worldwide, with a great many years of experience building lightweight, reliable products for difficult mobile conditions.

Atwood Water Heaters come in a variety of models including electric, liquid propane-fueled and combination gas/electric units. Although Atwood water heaters are not tankless, the design of their tanks and the unit that contains the heat exchanger allows the water heater to operate in much the same way as many compact tankless units. Because of this, Atwood water heaters give you a wide selection when deciding on a fuel type based on each customers RV needs.

The design and functionality of the Atwood water heaters insure that water is heated quickly and efficiently and the patented design makes sure that they deliver every possible ounce of usable hot water from the tank. Atwood's proven reliability as a leader in manufacturing water heaters gives every customer the assurance and satisfaction they want. Each one of the electric water heaters manufactured by Atwood comes fully equipped with a high quality incalloy heating element. This revolutionary designed allows each Atwood Water Heater to operate even when the tank accidently runs dry.

Atwood Water Heaters are built with efficiency in mind. One way Atwood proves this is with the development of efficient heat exchangers that quickly heat water when under power. Atwood has focused on developing each component for the maximum efficiency based on the capacity of each unit. Because of this each heat exchanger is specifically designed for the water heater's capacity resulting in the least amount ot time to heat up. Atwood Water heater heat exchangers use double tube construction that helps to prevent the possibility of containments entering the fresh water system.

The outer construction developed for every Atwood water heater is designed from corrosion resistant materials and is designed to stand even the harshest of environments that customers may choose to take their recreational vehicles into. Atwood has placed special attention to even the smallest of details including the edges and corners to assure the greatest safety. Even things such as the cubic shape and lightweight aluminum-alloy tank were considered when determining the greater flexibility when using water heaters with the vast number of RV floor plans.

Atwood Water Heaters are a favorite among RVers because with most models they can heat up in less than 30 minutes creating a generous amount of water to make everyone's trip on the road an enjoyable one. When designing their units, Atwood takes all mobile hot water needs into consideration and as a result has produced a full line of products to suit every RV model and customer tastes.

If you are looking to replace an old or worn out water heater or are simply wanting something more efficient, you first need to start by consider what your hot water needs are. Think about the size of the tank that will you currently have and whether the new Atwood model you have chosen will fit in your recreational vehicle without hindering movement. Even though every Atwood water heater tank is designed to be space saving, like any other water heater, if filled to capacity new units can easily add between 70 and 200 pounds to your trailer or motor home.

Although size is an important factor, the next most important item to consider is the fuel type based on the current capabilities of your RV or trailer. As previously stated, Atwood Water Heaters are made to run on 120-volt electricity, liquid propane or a combination of the two. One feature when considering a gas unit is its standing pilot light which helps to maintain a constant temperature for added fuel efficiency. If you are considering a model that uses liquid propane or the combination gas/electric you must remember that they require a minimum input of 8,800 or 10,000 BTU depending size. As an example, with a gas-fired unit that has a 10-gallon water heater with 10,000 BTU inputs will produce a maximum of 8.4 gallons of hot water per hour. The units that are a combo of gas and electric feature the simultaneous use of the gas burner as well as the electric heating element. When they are used together it is possible for an 8,800 BTU unit with a 1,500-Watt element to generate as much as 13.5 gallons per hour. With the new Atwood 10-gallon exothermal gas/electric combo water heater, customers have seen as much as 50% more hot water than the standard electric unit.

Every Atwood water heater is designed to be lightweight, easy to install or replace and serviceable by any reputable RV dealer. The addition of fiberglass insulation around the interior of the storage tank helps to keep hot water ho continuously. The fact that they have reviewed so many manufacturer designs when designing their units insures the maximum possible space-saving when you incorporate any unit into the layout of your recreational vehicle. With decades of experience and thousands of units sold, Atwood is positioned to remain number one in the design and manufacture of compact water heating units and specialty water heaters serving both the RV and marine markets.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

If you have a RV water heater it is likely you have an anode rod in the inner tank. This little critter is probably the most unknown friend to most campers that there is. The anode rod in your water heater is a part in the water heater that makes the inner tank last longer.

Have you ever heard the expression "the sacrificial lamb"? This is what the water heater anode rod is. It sacrifices itself so that the inner tank of your water heater can last an extreme amount of time longer than had it not been in there. I was in Florida once and a RV Repair Facility / RV Parts Store had an entire wall of inner tanks for water heaters. I asked why they had so many and this began my education on the all important water heater anode rod.

They explained that the water there had minerals in it that just played havoc on the inner tanks. It ate into the aluminum tanks and created pin holes which of course caused the inner tanks to leak, especially while the tank was under pressure. While this area was severe, almost all areas have water that will cause this. The culprits are usually high contents of iron and or sulphates.

The answer to some degree is the anode rod, which, depending on your water heater most likely will be about three quarters of an inch in diameter and four and a half to nine and a half inches long. Some are made from aluminum or magnesium. It is most likely threaded in the beginning with a hex head on the end and the remainder being smooth. The anode rod acts kind of like a magnet. It attracts the minerals that eat into the lining of a tank and causes them to eat into the rod instead.

Since many campers don't even realize they have one, it is our hope that this article will be informative enough that it will inspire action to check this baby at least once a year. It is an easy replacement and actually quite inexpensive, especially if you do it yourself. The part is probably only ten to thirteen dollars and can be removed and replaced in less than twenty minutes.

To do this simply turn off the rv water heater and wait until all water in the tank is cooled and has no risk of being hot enough to burn you. Lift the pop off safety valve up to release pressure and to allow air into the tank and then simply unscrew the anode rod. The water will drain quite quickly. It will even drain faster by opening a couple of faucets inside the coach. When the water has drained out of the water heater just screw the new anode rod back into the opening. The most commonly used tool is a one and one sixteenth thin wall socket.

One might ask how they would know if the anode rod needs to be replaced. You can do this by removing the anode rod as explained in the previous paragraph and when you remove it just look and see how damaged it is. It is my opinion that if it is has been sacrificed more than half of its original size to go ahead and replace it. If however, budget is a constraint, you can put it back in and just check it again a little later down the road and replace when you think it has nothing else to give. Just remember that it is a lot cheaper and easier to replace an anode rod than an inner tank. Always keep in mind how much of an integral part the rod plays in extending the life of your inner tank.

Just as a little additional information the huge majority or RV water heaters are produced under two brand names. The Atwood and the Suburban brands. The Suburban RV water heater is the only one to have an anode rod as a standard part. The Atwood brand of RV water heaters have an aluminum tank where the Suburban has a steel tank but it is porcelain lined.

If you have any questions on parts for your RV water heater or any other RV Parts or RV Accessories you can find the internet a great place or resource for additional information and can contact one of the many RV Parts Dealers online or you can also contact your local RV Dealership or RV Repair.

The toilet that you have in your camper makes a big difference in the cost of repair, even if you do not realize it. Some campers think that repairing a toilet is cheaper than replacing it. If you are the "Do it yourself" type camper that may be the true, however this article will help to educate the rest of us in order for you to make a well informed decision.

The Thetford and Sealand toilets both have parts that are easily obtained, at least for most models I should say. It is most likely that you have a Thetford rv toilet in your camper since the Thetford Aqua Magic Four has been installed in the largest number of RV's by far. I have found that if you are not a do it yourselfer it is for sure in most cases less expensive to replace the toilet rather than repair it. There are some simple repairs that make it possible to repair it for less than replacing it, but you should consider however, that if it is an older toilet that future repairs are quite probable. With that in mind you still might want to consider replacing rather than repairing.

If you do in fact choose to replace it, there is a good chance that you have an Aqua Magic IV which is no longer produced and has been replaced with the new Aqua Magic V. If you are replacing your toilet and have the Thetford Aqua Magic IV, there are other options such as the Thetford Aqua Magic Style Plus or Thetford Bravura Toilet as well as choices from the Sealand line of toilets. You will have to choose whether you want a hand or foot flush, and whether you want to stay with plastic or upgrade to china. You will also have the choice of adding a water saver. Regardless of which choice you make you will most likely be happy with the quality and dependability of any product available.

I have seen do it yourselfers replace a toilet and not replace the floor flange. This is silly. While you have the toilet removed it only makes sense to replace the floor flange and in most cases, when you purchase a new toilet, it will come with a new floor flange. Be careful when reconnecting your water line so as not to strip the threads. This is a common mistake and will lead to a lot more work that is unnecessary. Thetford also makes a great line of RV Porta Potties.

Make sure that you take the time to check out your options and find the RV toilet that is right for you. To some people, it might just be a toilet. However, if you plan on doing some serious RVing, it will be an important decision to make. I suggest you check with your local RV Dealer or shop online with one of the many RV Parts Dealer stores. Do your homework either way. Your local dealer will almost always be your best source of information and help. *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

When I first started camping it was frustrating to explain what I needed when it came to repair or replacement of my RV hardware because here were so many things that fall into the category of RV Hardware. So I am going to try and help the new camper (like me a few years ago) to understand some of the different terminologies. I am not going to go into all of them in this particular article, but focus mostly on the interior hardware. In this explanation I will discuss RV hardware normally found in the hardware section in most RV catalogs beginning with RV Cabinet Hardware.

Cabinet Hardware-RV cabinet hardware would be cabinet latches, positive latches, push latches, and bunk latches.

RV Cabinet Latches- Latches usually requires touching, pulling, or pushing, but usually has one moving part.

RV Cabinet Catches --Again these require pushing or pulling but will have more moving parts. There are also many more catches than latches. Most of them are commonly known as barrel catches, roller catches, magnetic catches, bulldog catches, and concealed roller catches. These are primarily to keep the cabinet door closed while in travel.

RV Cabinet Hinges – These are pretty self-explanatory, however, there different types of hinges. In addition to finishes such as brass hinges, antique finished hinges, stainless steel, and/or brushed nickel, there are hinges that are free swinging, self-closing and self supporting.

RV Cabinet Door Struts -- Cabinet door struts are mostly spring-loaded arms that keep the cabinet door raised when you open it, so that you don't have to hold the door up as you are trying to remove or place articles in the cabinet. These struts are most commonly found on doors that raise horizontally. They're very popular because they are user-friendly, at least most of the time.

Cabinet Drawer Hardware -- Cabinet door hardware is pretty much limited to drawer slides sockets, drawer bumpers, drawer slide kits. The slides in sockets are available in plastic and metal. It's important to remember that if you are purchasing parts for cabinet drawers you will usually need to know if it is for the left or the right side.

RV Window Hardware is the next segment and covers quite a few part numbers and part types due to the variety and quantity of window cranks with differing sizes and shapes. There are a number of RV manufacturers that supply window covering hardware, but for the most part window covering hardware can be purchased through your local RV dealership or from an online RV Parts Dealer store. The parts I am referring to are snaps, hooks, blind quieter's, curtain tracks, snap tape, curtain hold-down's, and curtains themselves.

RV Bed/ Door Gas Props -- Gas props are used mainly for doors, bed lifts and compartment doors. Gas props when replaced need to be replaced with the correct one. This is important because they need to match the length, pounds that they will hold, and the height that they will extend to. Using the wrong prop can cause damage and injury to both the RV and yourself. Make sure if you need help in this area to ask for it. Often times if you're replacing a gas prop you will need to replace the brackets as well. When securing them to the surface and you use the same holes, make sure not to strip it out even though you want it to be held tightly in place.

RV Compartment Door Hardware -- This type of hardware can be frustrating. RV baggage door catches and latches can be found in different shapes and sizes. While the reality is there are only a few types, there are many styles. RV baggage door catches can have either squared or rounded ends and come in white, kind of white (called colonial white), beige, black, and chrome colors as well as stainless steel. The circumference of most RV compartment doors or RV baggage doors, which ever you decide to call them, is almost always the same but the length usually comes in four sizes. They also have two different ways to secure the baggage doors, keyed meaning you can lock them, or thumb blocks, which secures the door, but does not lock them.

RV Entry Door Hardware - Entry door hardware consists of grab handles, and entry door holders. Grab handles are mounted on the side of the door and helps one enter the RV more safely. Door holders are used to hold the door open securely. RV door holders come in different lengths, angles, colors, and styles. When replacing a RV door holder, it is easy to take off and put on, and also easy to identify what you have.

I think this is enough information for this article. I will cover some other RV hardware in future articles. They will be talking about awning hardware, window awning hardware, RV door locks, and other related RV hardware.

In a world where all we hear is "More Miles Per Gallon", everyone is scrambling to beat the next guy while trying to maintain customer satisfaction, style and performance. Each year brings a whole new generation of models and this year is no exception. The all new 2011 Ford Mustang V6 while once delivering a fuel economy savings at 30mpg on the highway has now proven it has what it take by delivering an impressive average of 48.5 mpg with an average speed of 43.9 mph from testing done at the Bristol testing grounds.

Equipped with Ford's new V-6 engine in combination with their advanced six-speed transmission, the Mustang is poised to be a key element in Fords' plan to deliver both fuel economy and performance throughout the Ford and Lincoln Mercury ranks. Ford has made the commitment to becoming a leader in fuel economy within every segment that it has competition. The introduction of this new technology opens the doors for this to become the foundation on which Ford will build its future including other Ford fuel economy leaders like the Ford Fiesta, Fusion Hybrid and new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, America's most fuel efficient luxury sedan.

So now that Ford has succeeded in delivering the best in looks, style and performance, the sales figures going into 2011 are beginning to tell the story of Ford's future. It may seem too early to be thinking about what 2011 will bring with so much focus & intensity, but if the story behind what the Ford Mustang is now telling is any indication, it's telling Ford that they need to keep the momentum going and stay ahead of the curve and the rest of the competition. Always forward thinking and looking at what the future will bring, the engineers at Ford are already looking at changes for the 2011 Mustang in hopes of ramping up even more to set new records in the sales. Analyst have already seen that in the first month when orders were being taken, Ford has seen more than 11,000 orders being processed which is almost three times as many orders as the last years model had at its launch. What's even more impressive is that the what so many people have found as their reasons for buying the Ford Mustang over the years is what's keeping the brand strong Sales figures today show that more than 50% of the orders processed are for the new V6 Model 2011 Mustang.

The development of the technology behind the new 2011 Mustang is a joint venture between the Ford Engineering team and the Ohio University Advanced Automotive Labs. The technology behind the engine for this new Mustang is made up of a lightweight, all-aluminum 3.7-liter dual-overhead-cam (DOHC) V-6 engine using advanced engineering to deliver its combination of power and economy.

So for those who were willing to stay with it and see it through and were wondering whether or not the Mustang had it in it still, I believe the facts are speaking for themselves and it is about to pay off big time for Ford.

If you have been around the RV life style for very long it does not matter if you have a Fifth Wheel, Travel Trailer, Motorhome, or Camper, you probably have heard of Shurflo water pumps. They go back a long way and the same is true if you have been around the marine industry. As for reputation, there is not another company out there that produces RV water pumps that is as respected as the Shurflo RV water pump producers. While many people have heard that big change in Shurflo Water pumps is coming, I am here to tell you that the change is already here. While the Shurflo model 2088 water pump has long been the standard, it has to make room for the next generation. It has been long over due, and with all the changes in RV design with larger and more significant selections and options, and with the concerns of many customers having been heard, the Shurflo RV water pump 2088 should have been replaced a lot earlier. Though it has been a tried and true performer- the time has come for a new family member.

It is exciting to see the all new series of RV water pumps come to the market. The next generation RV water pump is called the Revolution. And whew- a revolution it is. This all new model pumps three gallons per minute and up provides up to fifty five pounds of pressure per square inch. It has a unique single piece diaphragm with an internal by pass that will for sure extend the life of the pump. It does not rapid cycle like the old 2088 model and it is much quieter making these all great improvements and what we believe will surely please almost any RV and Camper enthusiast.

If you ever need to have your Shurflo water pump repaired, you might first consider upgrading to the Revolution. It is a definite replacement for the 2088 and if you consider the cost of the repair, upgrading to this next generation of pumps may well be worth the extra cost. In my mind it is worth the money to upgrade even if it doesn't need repaired.

Shurflo manufacturing has been meeting the needs of the RV and marine industry in the area of twelve volt RV water pumps for a long time and in my opinion has done it well. With this next generation of pumps I feel confident that Shurflo will hold on to its vast market share in the RV industry as well as its market share in the marine water pump arena.

Shurflo RV water pumps can easily be found at almost any reputable RV dealer, RV Parts Store, or online with many RV Parts Dealers. If you are buying on the internet make sure you get the right model the first time to make sure your savings are not lost on return fees. Contact your local dealer or call the internet store if you have any question about getting the right RV water pump for your rig.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

I think it is that time of year when the cops are out in full force. I keep seeing all these new speed traps on my way to work and a countless number of people pulled over getting a ticket for whatever reason. This irritates me simply for the fact that it slows down traffic cause people want to rubberneck. Well I came across this article by the National Motorists Association and they've got some pretty good tips. There's nothing more irritating than being pulled over getting a ticket.

    Here's the list:

1.) Try not to drive faster than 9 mph over the posted limit on the highway and about 5-6 mph above the posted limit on secondary roads.

In most places, most cops will not ticket you if you're within this range. Part of the reason is simply that most car speedometers are not perfectly calibrated and so it's easier to challenge such a trivial ticket in court. Exceptions to this include 25 mph/school zones — where you should never drive even a single mph faster than the posted limit.

2.) Don't drive significantly faster (or slower) than the traffic around you.

If you do, you'll stick out — and if there's a cop around, he will notice and focus on you. Learn from the prey animals of the African savannah: There is safety in numbers. Even if you are driving faster than the speed limit, if you're one of a dozen cars in a pack, there's only a one in twelve chance the cop will target you.

3.) Never speed at night, especially after midnight.

There are more cops on the road during these hours — and fewer cars. You will stand out. And the cops are looking for any excuse to pull you over, because night-time is DWI time and every car a cop comes across will be closely scrutinized. Give him a reason — any reason — to pull you over and he will pull you over.

4.) Make sure your car's registration, license plates and state inspection are always up to date.

Cops are trained to look for passed-due inspection stickers (and also things like cracked windshields and dead headlights/brake lights, etc.)

5.) Pay attention to the behavior of other drivers, especially if you're driving in an unfamiliar area.

If you see cars ahead suddenly slowing down for no apparent reason (or oncoming cars are flashing their lights at you) it's likely there's a radar trap up ahead. Slow down now.

6.) Be on guard driving through small towns you don't know, especially small towns just off an Interstate or when a major road goes directly through a small town.

Speed traps are a reality of life and you're most likely to encounter one when driving through a small town in the middle of nowhere. Some towns get a large percentage of their budget from traffic tickets and the local yokel cops are on the lookout for cars with out of state plates because they know the driver is not likely to come all the way back there to try to fight the ticket in court — no matter how trumped-up the ticket might be. It's unfair, but it's the reality on the ground.

7.) Be on the alert for sudden (and often poorly indicated) reductions in the posted speed limit.

On many roads, the maximum will drop from say 55 to 45 for no obvious reason — and sometimes, there'll be a cop just after the sign change, waiting for you with his radar gun. Watch for work zones — where the limit may drop by half (and the fines double).

8.) Educate yourself about photo radar, or automated tickets.

If you're traveling to say Phoenix, AZ or Washington, DC — be forewarned that these areas use automated cameras to ticket people for both red light running and speeding. You may get no warning — and have no idea you just got a ticket — until it arrives in the mail a few weeks later.

9.) Familiarize yourself with the makes/models of cars that cops tend to drive.

The most commonly used cop cars (marked and unmarked) are the Ford Crown Victoria, the Chevy Impala and the Dodge Charger. The nice thing about the Vic is that it's very easy to pick out because it's very large and pretty much only cops and older people drive them. The Impala's harder to sniff out because they are anonymous-looking and really blend into the crowd. The Charger's even worse because it's a popular car and also a car that younger, sporty drivers favor. But in general, be on the alert whenever one of these cars is around; be extra wary if you see telltale signs such as multiple low-profile antennas, large tires with inexpensive-looking trim rims/hub caps and a spotlight on the driver's side door.

10.) Don't exceed the posted in adverse weather such as heavy rain or when it's snowy.

Not only is it unsafe, it may also be a moving violation even though you may not have been driving faster than the posted maximum. Keep in mind that the speed limit is just that — the lawful maximum — under ideal conditions. If a cop sees you driving faster than he deems safe for conditions, he can still pull you over and give you a ticket. And besides, this is a case where slower really is safer. Even if you have a 4WD vehicle, it takes longer to stop (and the vehicle is more prone to skidding out) if the roads are wet or slicked from snow/ice. - Thanks to National Motorists Association for this list.

Just make sure if you are headed to your Texas Chevy Dealer so excited about getting a new car. You take your time. Ha ha. Can you think of anything they left out?

This is another article, in a series of articles, breaking down and critiquing, automotive manufacturers marketing brochures. Point of sale (POS) materials account for millions of dollars a year in the automotive industry. We want to look deep inside these marketing brochures and examine the sales and marketing angles for each particular model.

In this article, we are going to take a closer look at the 2008 Honda Civic. Honda has an 18-page color brochure dedicated to selling its ideas, attempting to readjust the way you look at today's Honda Civic.

When you think Honda Civic, what comes to mind? We think, great gas mileage, dependability, practicality, simply a smart purchase. Those qualities and ideas are still part of the overall Honda Civic DNA, but Honda wants to change the way you think about the Civic. Honda is going after an entirely different market.

"Spontaneity, Intensity, and Fun"…these are not yesterdays advertising keywords associated with the Honda Civic.

Immediately on page 3, Honda asks you to "Go Ahead, Open It Up". Let's see what this baby will do. "Killer Looks", "Next-Big-Thing-Technology", "Burn Up The Pavement", just a few terms I'd not generally attach to the Civic. The folks at Honda are pushing this vehicles driving experience and persona in an attempt to lure in an entirely different demographic.

There is no doubt, the Civic has grown up. The thought of a navigation system in a model lines lower end cars may seem a bit much, but Honda decided to devote an entire page to their version of navigation. Leather interior also earned a complete one page spread, in an attempt to further move away from the traditional Civic market and towards a more bold and aggressive buyer.

"Lots Of Thrust, Little Thirst"…This is a bit closer to the Civic marketing we've all become accustomed to. Gas mileage and a little zip, that's my good old Civic.

Honda went back to its roots in a three page spread exclusively marketing the 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. This is what I expect from Honda in regards to the Civic. The hybrid version of the 2008 Honda Civic makes perfect sense for this model. Ever the practical choice for fuel savings, initial investment savings, and overall automotive cost, the Civic now extends into environmental "Green" savings with the Honda Civic Hybrid. They appeal to your intelligence, "Hybrid: A Smarter Way To Drive". And they appeal to your overall concern of the environment in the classic way Honda always has.

The Honda Civic Si Coupe is the portion of the brochure that you would expect some content relating to power and style and verve. "Obey Your Wilder Side" is a perfect lead in to this trim level of the Civic. The Si has always had a following with the younger, "Generation X" demo, and Honda has done a great job of reinforcing this Civic model again to its segmented audience. Naming one of its color, Habanero Red Pearl, was another nice touch.

Safety only earned one page of the brochure and there is only one page describing the "DNA" of the Honda Civic.

Honda is making a very conscience effort to expand its market for the Civic. This could be a bit of a risk for a model that has been more successful than anyone at Honda could have ever imagined. I'm sure the likes of the Mazda3 and Nissan Sentra have the marketing department at Honda rethinking the whole Civic thing. But, a niche is a niche is a niche. They are stepping outside the area that has worked so well for them in the past. It will be interesting to see if they expand or decrease their market share for the Civic with this approach.

In today's world, everyone has a product that they feel others just can't do without. Whether it's the next great tool for gardening or a new way of fixing your car, everyone has the right product for you. And we've all heard how easy it is to make lots of money on the internet. The trick is getting others to know about your product and making it available to the whole world. This is where the internet comes in to play. If you have decided that selling on the internet is right for you, you have to understand that one of the main things you'll want to focus on is learning how to create a search engine friendly website so people can find your site. After all, if you can't get them there you can't sell it to them. Don't ever try to sell a product online until you are sure you have the necessary support for creating a website that allows you to market you product. With the growth of ecommerce, more and more people are dreaming about starting their own online business. The question that many people ask and one of the main things that keep people from actually making their dream come true is what to sell on the Internet. If you have spent any time on the Internet looking at what products and services you could choose to sell online, you would have noticed that there is almost every conceivable product and service made available on the Internet. Even big ticket items such as cars, boats and houses are being sold on the Internet. But, regardless, it is not very easy for someone new to find a product rather quickly and start marketing online.

People get so concerned with how their website design will look and how they will allow everyone to order online that they forget about what's most important. The thing you need to concern yourself with most is choosing a web hosting provider that can help with online marketing so you don't end up with a site that gets no visitors. Selling products on a website is not just about putting things online and letting your website just sit there expecting people to stumble onto it and possibly buy something. It is absolutely critical that you have a complete understanding of how to get your website ranked with all of the major search engines. This is where a Search Engine Marketing Company comes in to play since it is absolutely necessary if you are to ever expect to be seen at all.

Here is a simple and straight forward illustration of what you want as an end result of your online search marketing efforts. Let's say you are a car dealer selling Audis and you are located on the East Coast. If a potential customer wants to find an Audi in that area they may search for Audi North Shore to locate a dealer in their area. That same customer may be looking for a used car and search for Used Cars Boston to begin their pursuit for a used car. Another customer may be searching for Toyota dealers in LA If you are a Toyota dealer and want to be found, when Los Angeles Toyota Dealers is queried in a search, you need to be visible on the search engines. This is the type of thought process that you need to acquire when determining a strategy for your online marketing. You need to figure out what people type in the search engines to find what they want and optimize your site and marketing efforts towards these terms.

Most of the web hosting companies today do not help with marketing and will tell you that they are in the business of hosting websites and not the business of helping you sell your products. Therefore you will most likely find yourself looking for a company that can provide the best possible service for the least cost. So what usually happens is you spend your hard-earned money to build this fantastic online store with a great design, and there isn't a visitor to be found anywhere. What people don't realize is that their doomed to failure before they even begin.

Have a plan for your product and have a marketing plan for your website. Seek out professional advice for optimizing your website in order to give yourself a fighting chance in the ever competitive world of online marketing.

You are in the market for a new car so you sit down in front of your computer, you bring up your favorite search engine, enter your search criteria, click the most promising link and BOOM …. Suddenly you have lights, sound and action. Welcome to the world of the new age automotive dealer.

Years ago, dealers realized that in order to stay competitive that they had to embrace the age of the computer. The trends and ways that people were looking for goods and services were changing and they had to change as well. Taking what used to be paper advertisement and TV screen and transitioning it to paperless and computer screen was a huge task. New websites were popping up all over that now had all the graphic content and advertising that once was part of full page color ads in the local newspaper and it worked for awhile for what has commonly been called the "Baby Boomer" generation.

But as time went on and the generational gap has widened, the consumers of today now are looking for a little more excitement and action as part of their everyday life.

Automotive dealers such as such as Chrysler NH, Honda Seacoast, and Dallas Mazda have seen this change and have embraced it. Websites have gone from flat and informational to lights, camera, action and informative. Now instead of just being able to read content and click links on a screen, you see action, have people on screen talking about products and services and the whole user experience comes alive.

Consumers today are more sophisticated and are looking for so much more and to address this, a search engine marketing firm can step in and help dealers with this. Dealers now realize that in order to capture the eye of this new age consumer, some dramatic changes may be in order. Looking at what a dealer should do to incorporate the latest in technology, but design it in such a way that allows optimization based on non-graphical content is a huge task. Getting the right mix while keeping the new generation in mind can be difficult. Search engine companies, such as Google and Yahoo, are also starting to see this and as a result are making adjustments to their processes and how they rate and rank website page content.

As consumers get tighter with where and how they spend their money, they look for products that grab their attention, pull them in and make the sale. Being able to see 3D rendering of vehicles, view and hear many of the accessories and build their own 3D version of the vehicle of their dreams in today's world are all possibilities.

So as the world continues to evolve and as the consumer attitude towards what they expect grows with the times, dealers will constantly find themselves changing, growing and looking for that next great answer to "What do consumers want". You won't want to miss the exciting series of fast and dramatic changes on the interactive front.
