His Holiness Grandmaster Lin Yun is the creator and leader of the modern Black Sect Tantric Buddhism, and a leading feng shui expert.

He teaches philosophical and spiritual aspects directly to the public, as well as through other feng shui experts. His notions were interpreted and used in books and teachings by a number of other feng shui experts, including Karen Kingston and Marina Lighthouse.

His teaching incorporates Confucianism, Taoism, Eclecticism, Exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism, Yin-Yang philosophy, I-Ching, holistic healing, folkloric studies, and feng shui. His Holiness was born in a respected Taiwan Lin Family. Both his parents were involved in the cultural activities against the Japanese invasion, and moved the rest of their family members to Beijing, China. Lin-Yun was raised in Beijing; at the age of 6, he started to be taught the Black Sect Tantric Buddhism by his first teacher.

At age 17, Lin Yun returned to Taiwan and continued to study under other spiritual guides of Black Sect Tantric Buddhism, including Master Hui and Master Cheng. He studied with distinguished philosophers and Buddhist masters.

His school received wide praise and formed a trend in Asia, Europe, and America.

In 1997, the Grandmaster was presented with an honorary degree for his humane psychology study by the Northern California University. This affirms his commitment to connect Western and Eastern cultures through the guidance that he has contributed to humankind. The Professor is a leading authority in feng shui. He lectures at the invite of the worldwide educational and religious institutions. His audience takes in the UN Parapsychology Society, the American Architect Institute, the Congress Library, and a number of foremost educational institutions, including Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Cornell, Johns Hopkins University, Duke University, University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania, Oxford University (UK), University of Duisburg (Germany), University of Munich (Germany), Qinhua University, Beijing University, and many more.

Karen Kingston was born in England. Since 1990 she has lived in Bali. Today, she travels and teaches her workshops internationally.

She developed a specific system – Space Clearing, which uses the art of feng shui for clearing spaces in buildings. Karen is a leading western authority in her field.

Karen's two books are Creating Sacred Space (1996) and Clear Your Clutter (1998). These books were translated into twenty-four languages and became international bestsellers (combined sales of 2 million copies). Karen's first book became an interior design bestseller on Amazon.com. Both titles have influenced numerous people in their attitudes on how clutter affects the energy of our environments.

Karen has been on a number of radio and television shows worldwide; she published hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles. Numerous articles have also been published about her. People are continuously commenting about her books on Twitter. She is a public speaker, a teacher, and Space Clearing consultant.

Karen Kingston has over 25 years of personal study in unseen energy and Feng Shui. The unseen world has become tangible and meaningful to her. She creates spaces where people start to feel different. She offers clear practical tips, delivered with humor.

Karen began practicing Space Clearing as such in 1978, but the term itself was coined only in 1989. The term refers to the ceremony that she has initiated and developed.

Karen has personally taught numerous practitioners about Space Clearing, to guarantee that their services are of the highest standard. She continues teaching them more advanced classes to further evolve their skills.

Space clearing keeps on evolving; Karen publishes newsletters to keep her followers updated on the newest developments. She's working on a new book, and she's planning to create a number of eBooks.

What is spatial clearing? It is the art of clearing energies in buildings using Feng Shui. The origins of space clearing go to religions. Every religion offers ceremonies to elevate spiritual levels and enhance the state of one's being. These ceremonies are used in temples, churches, and other religious constructions. Karen's space clearing can be used for the same type of astral cleansing, but in someone's personal space. Creating sacred spaces is designed to raise the quality of life and make it more meaningful.

Why do we need space clearing? Karen Kingston believes that energy space is very similar to physical space, and both of them need to be cleaned. Imagine if you moved into a home and never cleaned it? Within years you would have layers of dust lying around, cobwebs all over the place, myriads of large and small waste items, as well as numerous dirty dishes and mugs. This is similar to what happens when a person lives in the same place and never clears its energy. Our feelings, emotions, thoughts and words leave energy clutter all around. It cannot be seen with the naked eye, but it's there and it needs to be eliminated. This is exactly what Karen Kingston teaches in her books, at workshops, and through consultations.

The more you use your computer, the slower it seems to get. At least, that is the general consensus among many average computer users. It is a pretty common phenomenon to see a computer that is mainly used for checking email and playing solitaire eventually bog down to nearly a grinding halt. The problem is that these computers are not broken, as many owners would assume, but they are simply clogged with garbage, such as spyware or the occasional computer virus. So the question comes up, when was the last time you ran a good computer checkup on your system? As the saying goes, well, that is too long.

You can always disconnect your computer tower and drag it down to your local computer repair shop and hope that they will not charge you very much to check it out. The truth is, they most likely will. Part of that will be labor, which can run you anywhere from $30 per hour and up. Most people are not aware of it, but it is very easy to perform a computer checkup on your own. And it is also a whole lot cheaper to do it yourself.

A couple common fixes for a slow computer are very simple to perform. In fact, this can get your computer running nicely again in no time.

First, you will want to go to the start menu and run 'msconfig'. Under the startup tab, you will want to uncheck any programs that are not necessary to Windows performance - and most of them are not. If you make a mistake, after a reboot you can always recheck the disabled program to start it again when you next power cycle your machine. This should always be your first step when doing a computer checkup where your system is running slowly. If you know what you are looking for, you can find all sorts of things in here that can slow you down, including viruses. It is good to be familiar with this trick.

Second, you will most likely want to download a free spyware removal tool from a reputable internet site. Be sure to do your research, because there are many programs that pretend to be a helpful program, but in fact hide spyware of their own, trying to trick you into purchasing their product. Once you get your program, install it, upgrade the definition tables, and scan your system. Do not be surprised if you find a bunch of things...this is a common problem.

Next, you will want to follow suit and download and install a good quality antivirus program. Also be sure to do your research and select a reputable program, because like anti-spyware programs, there are nasty bugs in disguise with these, too. Do a quick computer checkup with this as well.

The last tip is a great one. Simply do the above, then drop in another RAM stick. You will see a very noticeable boost in computer performance, and with all of these steps you will have that good old system back up in no time.

The Four Pillars of Destiny is an in-depth analysis of one's personality and destiny, based on date of birth (year, month, day, and hour).

According to ancient Chinese cosmology, the universe and all its components are made up of five basic elements - metal, wood, water, fire and earth. These interacting elements can affect our lives and our destinies. The Four Pillars of Destiny is a special calendar system that associates the time with the elemental influences, and uses the birth date to describe the personality and the fate of a person.

Sample Personality Types Depending on Birth Date

Metal: The people of metal are intuitive, emotional, focused, and confident. They tend to isolate themselves from others or change life partners often. They tend to try to escape problems and dive inward rather than trying to solve their problems. They may seem solid and stubborn, and typically take a tough stance. They don't let other people in on their feelings, don't like intimate conversations and don't seek a crying shoulder. They can be successful in many fields, since metal represents money. They can also encourage others to achieve great success. They are sensitive to injustice and deceit. To succeed, they need to learn to open up and become more flexible.

Water: The people of water are sociable, outgoing, caring, gentle, and receptive. However, they also tend to have excessive anxiety and fear. They are flexible, soft, and diplomatic, and prefer indirect communication. They can be both excellent speakers and a grateful audience. They tend to try to manipulate people using emotional sensitivity, but they are very susceptible to influence also. To succeed, they need to learn to control their emotions, learn to trust their instincts and persevere.

Wood: The people of wood are focused on results. They can transform resources into products and ideas into profits. They are prone to rapid expression of feeling. They are eloquent speakers and interlocutors. Despite a strong character, they are quite vulnerable, as they find it difficult to express their rich emotions for fear of being poorly perceived. They are practical people who are always looking toward the future, and rarely look back. To succeed, they need to avoid striving for imaginary perfection or trying to embrace the boundless.

Fire: The people of fire can calm and soothe you, or explode in emotions. They are fearless and charismatic leaders, who are able to influence others. They may have good acting skills. They are very passionate, cannot be idle for too long, and tend to be impulsive and egocentric. They are creative and innovative, and try to change themselves and their surroundings. The desire to be noticed may lead them to success or create problems. They are poor listeners, and may be too aggressive. To succeed, they need to develop patience.

Earth: People of earth are very fair. They tend to worry about the problems of humankind. They may become workaholics. They are stable and balanced, and tend to slowly achieve any goal. They prefer long-term projects, and don't like wasting time. They may be suspicious, and are hard to manipulate. They can become excellent managers. They have a sense of purpose, practicality, and perseverance. They are sensitive, but not emotional. They can be stubborn and not versatile in their views. To succeed, they need to learn to be more versatile and less set in their ways.

These characteristics are only the tip of the iceberg in regard to the wealth of information that you can get using the Four Pillars of Destiny. The Four Pillars are a profound tool that can help you understand yourself and others, and use this notion to manage your destiny.

If you bring the children to Akumal on vacation, there are many things available which are perfect for the younger members of the group. It's important to keep the kids busy and interested in all of the exciting activities available in Akumal.

Aside from touring the many Mayan ruins, snorkeling is perhaps the most interesting activity for all visitors to Akumal, and some of the places are especially perfect for the children. With a few safety precautions, the kids can partake in this fun with little chance of hurt or accident.

Properly fitted life jackets should be used by each child. Some villas provide these life jackets free of charge. Vests will not only prevent deadly accidents in the water, but will help to cover their torso and prevent sunburn in this area. It should also be applied often to avoid major skin damage from the tropical Caribbean sun!

Yal-Ku Lagoon offers an optimum site for young snorkelers. The calm waters of the area are free of rough waters and big waves, allowing them to view the colorful sea life easily. The bay in front of the villas in South Akumal also is perfect because of the reef blocking the waves.

A day at the beach is loved by everyone, and the children can busy themselves with the white sand all day long. Buckets and shovels give the opportunity to make sand castles while you rest and watch the kids play. A sandy beach in front of your rental is a huge plus. Most rental villas also have a fresh water pool with a Jacuzzi for the family to enjoy. Many also have kyacks for you to enjoy.

Always discuss with the children the importance of being aware of your surroundings before a day at the beach. They should not walk near turtle nests or dig around in them for fear of breaking eggs buried beneath the sand.

The Jungle Place is a fun place to take the animal-loving children in the group. It is a sanctuary for spider monkeys situated four miles south of Akumal neat the town of Chemuyil. Here, they can view many of the local wild animals which are caged or chained for safety. They may also play with the monkeys and talk to the many colorful parrots located here.

Places like Xel Ha, Hidden Worlds, Dolphin Adventures and Actun Chen also offer excitement for everyone in the family, and are good for even the small kids. Hike the woods to cenotes, tour a cave, ride the zip-line in the jungle, swim with the dolphins, tube on a river, jump from a cliff, or eat homemade ice cream made at many of the local eateries. They are all within a ten minute drive of Akumal.

Depending whether your children are adventurous, interested in animals and nature, or just enjoy to play in the water all day will help you to choose the best for them to engage in. Discuss with your family about what they would like to see and do while in Akumal, and try to oblige at least one thing that even the kids want to do.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, means improving a site's awareness by the search engines. When a consumer initiates an inquiry with a search engine, there are often thousands, sometime even millions, of results, called hits. SEO means improving the placement of a site on relevant search results lists. Studies indicate that consumers only look at the first several pages of a results list. If your site isn't at or near the top of the list, it won't be noticed and your traffic volume will not benefit.

SEO involves understanding the search engine process and developing a strategy that will get your site prominently noticed. The search engines don't make this obvious because they closely guard their proprietary rating techniques, called algorithms. There are many tricks to SEO. You are probably too busy with the development of the best goods and services to be able to understand how to portray them to search engines. You need to strike a careful balance. Further, search engines are constantly reviewing and changing their ranking methods in order to be able to produce the most relevant results to an inquiry.

One of the key SEO methods is to identify keywords and phrases, and correctly place them within the website. As search engines crawl through virtually all the sites in the world, they note keywords and references within the sites. Later, when a consumer has initiated an inquiry, the search engine sorts through its database of sites to locate the ones that are likely to be relevant to the particular inquiry. As there are well over one-hundred million websites worldwide, this is a monumental task.

Keywords should be made as specific as is practical to do. Keywords of a general nature will be noticed by search engines but the relevance won't be high and so it does nothing to move the site up on the rankings. The selection and placement of keywords within the site involves something of a balance. Overly precise keyword usage may not flow well for the customer that is reading your site. This could harm sales. On the other hand, overly general keyword usage will not generate the needed traffic.

SEO also means getting a site included in forums, blogs and online articles. Search engines note these references and raise the site's rating accordingly. However, you are not getting the traffic growth you need. When you want to increase traffic at your website, what is the first area at which you should look? The answer is to improve your ranking on the various search engines. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has many facets, but none is more important than correctly choosing and placing the right keywords.

When websites agree to provide links to each other, they both benefit. Obviously, there is a traffic increase created by the click links. Not so obvious is the fact that search engines like to see links and will generally raise the ranking for both sides of the link. It is extremely important that linked sites be relevant. A yellow tee-shirt site linked to a yellow rose site will likely cause both sites to be penalized in the ranking process.

There is much more to the SEO process. This is just an introduction and an explanation of its importance.

The search engines are known to drive the most amount of traffic towards a website, at least compared to a web directory, but that shouldn't be a reason not to use web directory submissions. Some little light on web directories can help you make that informed decision to be able to know how to use them to the success of your online business.

Typically, when an Internet surfer goes into a web directory to browse, they do so for a specific reason, unlike using the search engines. The surfer is looking for specific information and has a very high chance of finding that information on the directory than when using the search engines. This will mean that the web directory has more targeted traffic which translates to a good chance of conversion on your services and/or products.

The search engines on the other hand have placed a very high value on link directories for the simple reason that they are human edited ie the links are reviewed and censored by humans before being categorized and sub categorized into their relevant niche markets. As such, web directories become the most trusted sources of information thus giving your website a sort of direct endorsement to the search engine spiders.

    Guidelines for Directory Submissions

    - Keep a record of your submissions and organize the log by name of the directory and date of submission. This way, you can keep track of the listings already published and those not yet to help avoid multiple submissions. Once you confirm a listing, go ahead and record the date for future reference.

    - Always select the most relevant category and subcategories to make the human editor's work easier and for accurately categorizing your website. As a result, you will increase the chances of the website getting reviewed quicker and the search engines will be able to identify the niche of your website easily and give more value to the link because of its niche relevance.

    - Always give correct information by double checking before submitting. Some of the things to look and ensure accurate information include the email, name, description, title, URL, Meta tags etc.

    - By the same token, double check your site before submitting it and check for such things as missing images, spelling errors, typos, broken links etc. All these items are indicators of a scantily maintained website to the visitors.

    - Always follow-up to see if you have already been listed. This you can do by simply conducting a search using the directory's search function. If it is a paid listing, the review process lasts for a few days but for free listings, you must exercise utmost patience as the process can be as long as six months.

It is generally agreed among pundits that submitting your site to quality web directories is the surest way to get natural backlinks or one way links to your site. Site submission to web directories is something that you can do personally with some little knowledge of the task or better still hire a professional to do it for you. Whichever way you find economical and best for you, it is highly recommended that you submit manually so that you can create exclusivity of the submissions.

Search engine optimization or SEO if you like is a way of analyzing a website and altering it to become search-engine friendly so that the search engines can be able to easily read and index it. SEO is about customizing a website to get high rankings on the search engines. The reasons for high search engine rankings are obvious -- when web surfers use the search engines to look for something, they rarely search beyond the top 20 results and as such, if a website is to benefit you, it needs to get rankings among the top 20, if not the first slot.

Even though SEO has been in existence for quite a long time now, it has gained popularity only in the recent past. This is due to advancement in technology where new tools such as use of Java applications, many images, and Flash require a website to be optimized so that the search engine spiders can read the site easily. Note that if the content of your website cannot be read by the search engines, definitely the site will not be indexed meaning it will not be available to your potential visitors when they look for it on the search engines.

Basically, the search engines have a very huge database that they maintain with information of all websites available. The information however is never listed on the search engine's results page but they take the information into consideration when ranking websites. As such, a webmaster should ensure they optimize their sites to selected keywords and also when submitting the websites so that the sites get ranked.

Major search engines today are free hence you should take advantage and advertise your products and services for free, which you can do in as little as an hour. If you are not adept on SEO, you can always hire professionals to do the work for you. Even so, the internet is full of resources that can enlighten you on SEO, which is a good thing so that you cannot be left on the dark even as you hire someone.

With that said, it is important to familiarize yourself with what Unethical SEO is about. These are unacceptable techniques applied to trick the search engines to give websites high rankings that they do not deserve. Note that the techniques were once acceptable, but webmasters went overboard and were banned. A perfect example is keyword stuffing whereby a site contains very many keywords placed aimlessly and nothing else.

As tempting as unethical SEO is, you should not use it because yes you will get the high rankings that you want, but it will be short lived. First off, you will only annoy your visitors because you will target the search engines and not them, and secondly, you risk your website getting banned completely from the search engines.

Boiled down, Search Engine Optimization is a set of techniques applied to attract potential clients to your site. The main aim of a search engine is to give web surfers informative high quality content and if SEO is practiced ethically, these two objectives will not be contradicting at all.

A feng shui consultation can help you learn how to organize your home, office and other premises in the traditions of this wise ancient notion.

There are easy available methods that can help you improve your premises, balance the five feng shui elements and get their energy to circulate the proper way. This could bring numerous benefits, including improved health, increased wealth, better relationships with your loved ones, and more.

Some of the tips that you could receive from a good feng shui consultation are affordable and easy to follow. Let's discuss two such examples: increasing wealth and improving health the easy way with feng shui.

Wealth: One of the most sought after life improvements is financial stability. Our world is a highly competitive place to live in, where everyone seems to struggle for their slice of bread with some butter.

Feng shui has some truly fascinating suggestions to offer, which work similarly to those of the popular law of attraction (which, in fact, may be based on this Chinese science to a certain extent).

If you want to gain wealth, you need to create a "piece" of it in your own home. For this purpose, you may consider creating the so-called "wealth vessel". This can be any vase (preferably made of metal or ceramics) that needs to be filled with specific "ingredients". The ingredients include: Chinese coins, regular currency, semi-precious gems, and a gold ring. The vase needs to be placed in your bedroom, or any other place where it would not be seen by guests.

By locking the representation of wealth this way, you may see an actual improvement in your financial situation in the near future. Note that a professional feng shui consultation could give you more details on this matter.

Health: It's obvious that a serious health issue will require anyone to visit their doctor and get the proper treatment. However, you can improve your health the natural way as well. Improving health with feng shui involves improving the energy circulation in your home, and especially certain parts thereof.

One of the most important areas to take care of is the kitchen. Improving the energy flows in the kitchen is easy – all you need to do is remove any clutter and clean it well. Clutter, unused items, and dirty cupboards may not allow for the uninhibited flow of the subtle energies. What you need to do is clean everything you can clean in your kitchen. It may take a day, but the effects can be impressive. Clean your refrigerator and dispose of any old foodstuffs that may be inside. Clean the oven and the pots/pans that are inside. Clean the tables and cupboards. Finish by wiping the external surfaces in the kitchen and washing the floors with soap and water. You can get more tips and advice for this matter through a professional feng shui consultation.

The second important suggestion to consider for improving your health is introducing several special plants into your home, which are: Areca Palm, Lady Palm, Bamboo Palm, Rubber Plant, Dracaena Janet Craig, English Ivy, Dwarf Date Palm, Peace Lily, and Boston fern.

    What You Need To Know

Of the many potential home businesses, a retail website is one of the best. Running a retail website isn't the easiest thing to do in the world – but neither has it to be the hardest thing you've ever done. Whatever the goods and services that you are selling, there are ways and means to make it work just a little bit better. Here are some tips that can help you improve your retailing efforts – and, by extension, your home business.

Create a niche site. If you want to make it big in the retailing business, you should have a site, or a group of sites, that cater to specific customer groups or to specific products. A "supermarket" set-up on a retailing website, wherein everything is thrown together, simply will not work. People can easily get confused in such an environment. Confusion can lead to frustration, and frustration can lead customers to simply give up. A niche site must be focused, targeted, and relatively easy to navigate.

Make your site easy to navigate. Everyday many people are getting on the internet for the first time. Some of these people are going to go on your site. If these people cannot navigate your site, then chances are nil that they will buy something from you. Make it a practice to review the layout of your site from time to time. Is it simple enough? Imagine yourself going around the site for the first time. Is the overall arrangement conducive to persuading people to make purchase?

Advertise, advertise, advertise. You can't expect anyone to buy from you if they don't even know that you're in business. You should advertise in every possible way. Over the internet, this means giving out links and reciprocating people who link their sites to yours. It means writing articles that can extend your visibility. It means getting optimized for the search engines. However, you can also advertise conventionally. For instance, you can post banners and give out flyers and stickers. You can spread your business information by word-of-mouth as well – which is arguably the most effective way, anyway. A shining recommendation from a friend can do more than a thousand stickers.

Sell quality products. The only way to make money in retailing is to keep people buying from you again and again. And the only way to do that is to provide goods and services that are well worth the money. Remember that people must feel satisfied with their purchases, else they probably never will purchase anything from you again. If you have excellent products, people will find their way to you, even if you don't expend as much effort advertising them.

By applying these basic tips, you should be on your way to creating a great retailing website.

Solicitors who dealt with miners' compensation claims are facing fresh challenges after an MP accused some legal firms of not repaying more than £100million in improperly charged fees. Several lawyers had been criticised and some have been struck off following disclosure that they wrongly took a share of client's compensation under a government scheme. Solicitors who took on claims were paid by the Government for dealing with cases, but some also charged extra fees to clients, taking the cash directly out of their payouts. The Government scheme - The Coal Health Compensation Scheme - was designed to provide cash compensation to miners who had suffered chest diseases and conditions such as Vibration White Finger while working underground.

The extent of the scandal was made public in 2005 yet four years on, there are still repercussions of the actions of a handful of unscrupulous solicitors. The local MP has taken up the cause, campaigning for hundreds of miners who have since claimed the fees back. But there is concern that thousands of other miners may not be aware that they can claim the legal costs of their claims back, or may be worried that claiming the fees would involve a lengthy process and sheaths of paperwork.

However, as the case has been fully computerised, those supporting the miners in their campaign for compensation say that all miners and their families have to do is come forward and notify the government to be able to claim the money back. More than 750,000 former miners have made claims under the Coal Health Compensation Scheme and it is thought that around 20% of them were improperly charged by lawyers. The average amount of incorrectly charged fees is £910 and it is believed that this could affect up to 120,000 claimants.

The actions of a handful of solicitors has done nothing to enhance the reputation of the industry in the eyes of either the public or the government, and could potentially have a ripple-effect as the case gains more publicity. Although all of those involved have been held to account (and in many cases, lost their jobs as a result), the industry has still taken a knock in the amount of confidence the public has. This is not the first time that firms have been accused of charging excessive legal fees in compensation claims. But because of the emotive issues surrounding the miners' compensation claims and the impact it has had on so many ordinary people, legal experts are concerned that this body blow to the industry's reputation could have far reaching consequences.

Emphasis has been placed on the Government and in particular Lord Mandelson, the minister responsible for the original 1998 agreement, to contact every claimant involved and notify them of their rights. Whether the Government will want to become embroiled in yet another political hot potato so close to a general election remains to be seen. In the meantime, industry watchers are calling for greater accountability and openness in the way claims specialists account their costs and a clampdown on excessive charges.

The Legal Complaints Service, which handles complaints about solicitors, has only received 5,410 complaints relating to improperly charged fees from miners claims. But with potentially 120,00 being affected, it may see those numbers jump dramatically once the full extent of the scandal becomes public knowledge.

    History of Portugal

Portugal is found on the Western part of the Iberian Peninsula, that part that has the Atlantic Ocean. History has it that the territory of northern Portugal and Spain were poorly defined years ago, so they had the same cultural aspects but not for so long especially after the emergence of the Castrena culture. The culture was characterized by rounded fortified huts before the Romans colonized the place and divided Spain from Portugal.

History aside, when you visit Portugal you will be after fun-filled events and entertainment sports that will complement the historical spots to give you a truly memorable and unique holiday. Climbing picturesque hills by day and bar-hopping through vibrant cobbled lanes at night. Legendary cafés and art nouveau shops. World Heritage monuments and singular museum treasures. Fairytale palaces and sandy beaches nearby. Long dinners and an insatiable appetite for nightlife. First things first, before you venture in the outskirts of Portugal, in its capital city Lisbon, there are all kinds of things to do and place to visit.

    Museums

    - The first museum is the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea Museu do Chiado, located in the center of Lisbon and where you get to sample French and Portuguese Art. The museum is always open all days of the week from 2 pm to 6 pm except on Mondays when it is opened at 10 am and closed at 6 pm.

    - The science museum is in the former Lisbon Polytechnic School where you get to learn about all sciences, thanks to the interactive themes that use Chemistry, Maths and Physics. The science museum is open from Tue to Fri from 10 am to 1 pm and in the afternoons from 2 to 5:30 pm excluding Sundays.

    - The Museu do Carme is the place to learn about archeology from different historical times. The museum is installed in the monastery ruins.

    - The other museum worth a visit in Portugal is the National Museum of Ancient Art, located strategically near the Tagus river in the Palace of onde Alvor. This museum exhibits great masterpieces of art from Portuguese sculptors, painters and all works of art of ancient Portuguese during colonization. The museum is always open between 10 am and 6 pm on Wednesdays through to Sundays while on Tuesdays it is open from 2-6 in the afternoon.

    Entertainment and recreation

    - You can relax in the Tapada da Ajuda Park, a 250 acre park that was initially used for hunting but today accommodates different activities such as a children's park, an Astronomy Observatory, and a recreation area.

    - The Estufa Fria tropical garden is the place to be if you are looking to learn a thing or two about plants. It has species of plants from all over the world. History has it the plants were brought to Lisbon and adapted to the climatic change.

    - You can also spend some time at the Botanical Gardens that date back to 1873 and boast of over 18,000 different species of plants including the banana and palm trees. The gardens are open during the summer season from 9 am to 8 pm while during the winter season the gardens are open from 9 am to 6 pm.

Article Title: Using the Feng Shui Wood Element in Home Decor

The Feng shui wood element symbolizes personal growth, creativity and financial success. Use of this element contributes to the development of creative abilities, but the "abuse" thereof may lead to overestimation of your capabilities. Therefore, this element needs to be combined with others that match it.

Here are some key items of this element: the color green, east or south-east direction, the symbol of a dragon, and more Yin than Yan energy. The symbols that depict it include flowers, trees, wooden items, rectangular furniture, straw crafts, paper crafts, fabric crafts, and paintings depicting a forest.

It's easy to add this element to your home using special feng shui figurines made of wood. Here are some good examples of such figures, and an explanation of their properties.

Elephant: The elephant figurine will help to make you more powerful and successful. Elephant became the symbol of a just and respected leader in China. The Elephant will help you acquire the necessary qualities to achieve recognition and high status. Place the statuette in your office or near your workplace at home.

Toad: A toad with coins in its hands is a talisman that helps to attract money. You need to place the toad near the entrance door, diagonally. Don't set it too high or too low. A money toad should look at the front door, welcoming wealth into your home. A money toad holds Chinese coins that symbolize prosperity.

Dragon: The dragon will help improve the energy of your home and help you succeed. The Dragon will activate the Yang energy that's needed for success in new endeavors. The Dragon is one of the 4 protector animals, each of which corresponds to one of the four cardinal points. A dragon guards the eastern direction, so the statue is best put in the eastern sector of your house. However, the dragon embodiment of the feng shui wood element can be placed anywhere.

Dragon on a pearl: The dragon is a symbol of the Yang energy. In China, the dragon also symbolizes rain, which nourishes the earth and makes it fertile. The Dragon brings prosperity. The dragon that sits on the celestial pearl can help to make wishes come true. This figurine can be placed anywhere in your home or office.

Double happiness: The hieroglyph Double Happiness helps to harmonize relationships and strengthen love. In China, it's a tradition to present this hieroglyph as a wedding gift, so that the newlyweds' union remains strong. The hieroglyph is best hung in the south-west part of the bedroom, to attract and maintain love.

The mystic knot: The mystic knot is one of eight characters that appeared on the soles of the Buddha (according to legends). This sign is identified with the endless love, so beautiful that it has no beginning or end. It's a good idea to hang this sign in the bedroom, to help prevent separations in your relationship.

These figurines are typically carved from a single piece of mahogany tree, Abash tree, and many others. They can become a perfect decoration for your home and help you balance your life using the feng shui wood element.

In China, you can see symbolic gold ingots and bowls (Yuen Bao) in many homes.

According to feng shui, these powerful amulets can bring wealth and greatness to any home. Despite the fact that our culture differs from the Asian culture, we can also benefit from having these powerful wealth symbols in our home. These attractive amulets can also add to a home's interior.

Gold ingots and bowls are best placed in one of 3 ways: in the southeast section of your home or room, next to a window, or next to the entrance door.

The southeast is the wealth zone of your home, so the amulets placed there will help you preserve and multiply your wealth. Placing them next to a window or the entrance door has to do with the belief that they attract wealth from "outer space". They can be placed next to a window: one bar in each windowsill corner. By the way, the larger the window, the more wealth energy the talisman will attract. Also, they can be placed next to the entrance door: one bar in the corner diagonally across from the door.

    Examples of Amulets:

Gold Ingots – a traditional Chinese symbol of prosperity and greatness. It's also one of the symbols of the metal element. You can put the bars by themselves in the west or northwest section of your home – in the metal element zone. You can place them into your wealth vase, or put them in a talisman sailboat, which symbolizes wealth arriving to your home.

Gold Ingot Piggy Bank - this is another great amulet for the wealth sector (southeast). It can also be used for vessels of wealth filled with coins, sequins, jewelry, and all sorts of things that you associate with wealth.

Three-Legged Toad with Coins - this is the most popular symbol of wealth in feng shui. Most often, the toad is depicted seated on a pedestal of coins or ingots. The coin in its mouth represents wealth entering your home. The money toad can be placed in the sector of wealth or near the entrance door, on a low pedestal. The main thing is to put the frog with its back to the door, as if it jumped into your home. In order for the toad to work and bring you good luck, you need to wash it often - toads belong to the element of water and recharge from it.

Gold Ingot Jewelry Boxes – these boxes can be filled with jewelry made of precious metals or gemstones, and placed in the wealth corner.

There are many other similar amulets that you can find. Most of them are imitation gold items, rather than real gold. In fact, you can even make the gold bars yourself. All you need are solid rocks with no cracks, and gold paint. Paint the rocks with the paint, and you'll have your gold ingots. When looking for or making the bars, keep in mind that it's best to have them in an even number, such as two or eight.

Technology has a way of evolving quickly, and the world of home security is no exception. If you're looking to improve your home security – whether through a whole house alarm system or just a few well-placed security devices – one of the first decisions you'll need to make is whether to use a wired or wireless system in your home.

Wireless home security devices represent the cutting edge of technological change. But are they right for your home? Just a decade ago, wired systems were the universal standard, regarded as safer than the wireless systems then being developed. Now, whether you're looking to upgrade your home security system or install one for the first time, you'll need to weigh both types, as there are pros and cons associated with each.

Wired home alarm systems, the traditional type that have been used for decades, rely on an electrical circuit, not unlike the one allowing the lights in your home to turn on. When you 'arm' the alarm system, the circuit is closed. If someone opens a door or window or otherwise sets off the alarm, the circuit is opened, causing the alarm to sound. This is a very reliable form of technology, meaning that your alarm system is likely to work in all scenarios.

Although wireless security has come a long ways in the past ten years, wired systems remain the least expensive and most reliable choice. Still, there are some downsides. Wired alarms require the running of wires. Besides needing to hide wires, you may not want to cut into walls to install the system, especially if you don't plan to live in the same place for more than a couple of years. They are less flexible because the alarms must be installed in areas where the wires will be easy to hide. This tends to get complicated, often requiring professional installation.

If you are looking for a system that is easy to install, offers flexible security options, and can be taken with you when you move, consider wireless home security. These systems run on battery power. The alarm is triggered by radio signals transmitted by sensors – such as those placed in a door or window – to a control unit. These can easily be installed in a weekend. Use them around your whole house, or just on the doors and windows you feel are the most vulnerable to intruders. Each individual alarm can be armed, regardless of whether the rest of the system is turned on.

In addition to the choice between wired and wireless alarms, you'll also have to make the same decision if you choose to install cameras. Again, there are benefits and drawbacks associated with each types. Battery-operated wireless cameras can be installed anywhere, but go through batteries in just a day or two, making them an inconvenient choice if you want 24-7 surveillance. On the other hand, they might make great nanny cams when you're out of the house. If you want the camera to be on all the time, look towards traditional wired surveillance cameras.

Many parents avoid discussing safety and home security with their children because they're worried about scaring their kids. While security isn't the most exciting subject to discuss with your kids, it's important that they know the basics. One way that many parents have found useful for teaching kids home security is by using age-appropriate games. Role-playing is the best way to teach kids important safety and security tips without unnecessarily concerning them with the dangers of the modern world.

It is necessary to develop an emergency plan, and every member of the family must know it by heart. Practice this with your kids – what would you grab if you had to leave quickly? Where outside would you meet the rest of your family? What if you couldn't go out your front door, or through the hallway? Kids are naturally creative, so let them help to answer these questions. Kids will think it's fun to practice their escape route while crawling, which could be an invaluable skill in the case of a fire.

Such strategies are also a good way to practice various natural disasters, such as hiding in the basement during a tornado, or under a sturdy table during an earthquake. Spend an hour in the dark telling stories and eating 'emergency kit' food. If the real thing happens, kids will be less likely to panic if they've already practiced Your choice of scenario will, of course, depend on the region of the country and what natural disasters are prominent dangers there.

When it comes to everyday safety concerns, modeling the best behavior is the best way to get children to adopt these household practices. For example, practice good phone manners, such as avoiding saying they are home alone by telling the person on the phone that their parent is in the restroom.

Role playing also works to teach kids what to do in many of these situations. If your child has a play house, knock on the door and teach them what to say. There's no reason to teach them what could potentially happen if they let in the wrong person – all they need to know is what they should do when someone comes to the door.

If you have a security alarm system, your kids need to know how to use it. Decide how much power you want your kids to have over the system. For example, you may want to trust your teens with more of the features of the system than you'd teach to younger children. Kids must know the steps to take, both to activate and deactivate the alarm and how to prevent false alarms. For security alarm operation, as well as key details such as contact names, numbers, and addresses, make it a game by offering prizes for successful memorization.

The key to teaching kids about safety and security is to avoid overwhelming them. Though they need to understand the importance of secure behaviors, they don't need to know the possible dangers lurking out there. Review this information on a regular basis, at least monthly, so that it does not become forgotten.

The feng shui bamboo (aka Dracaena Lucky Bamboo or Dracaena Sanderiana) is a plant that can be bought in flower shops.

This plant is not real bamboo, but it does look similar. It has green springs that are coiled at the top, and a small green offshoot. The bottom of the plant (usually with spines) is placed in a glass flask with water. Many vendors don't know how to care for this plant or how to use it in feng shui. Our article will help fill the gaps of this sort.

The name Lucky Bamboo is a traditional name from ancient China. To date, this plant is known as Dracaena Sanderiana from the lily family. This unpretentious plant grows well indoors, so it's an ideal plant for a home or office.

In Asia, where nature is an integral part of human life, Dracaena Sanderiana has been a symbol of prosperity for over 400 years. It is often used in feng shui, which sees the world as the interaction of five elements: water, fire, earth, wood and metal. The green color and thin vertical shape give this plant the perfect characteristics of the wood element. It's believed that feng shui bamboo increases the flow of the positive Chi energy. You can buy this plant tied with red or gold ribbon - this is intended to strengthen its positive effect.

It's recommended to purchase this plant in one of the following variations: Three stems - attracts happiness. Five stems - attracts wealth. Seven stems - bestows health. Twenty-one stems – brings the universal well-being in all aspects of life.

In the East it is believed that by increasing the wellbeing of another we increase our own wellbeing. Consequently, feng shui bamboo is an ideal gift. By tradition, the owner can give their visitor a stalk from the bunch that stands in the owner's house. Presenting a bundle of three stems at a wedding helps build a happy marriage. A combination of 20 twining stems that range in their height is called the Tower of Love. Traditionally, this "tower" is a gesture of care, friendship and compassion. For wealth and prosperity, the Tower of Love should be placed in the south, east or southeast.

In order for your feng shui bamboo to live longer, you need to observe certain rules. First, avoid placing it in direct sunlight. If the leaves have brown spots, it means that the plant gets too much sunlight. This plant needs water, and it's best to use filtered or distilled water. Its leaves may turn yellow due to poor water quality, such as using water with a high content of chlorine. You can add mineral fertilizers to the water to maintain balance and promote healthy plant growth. The water has to be changed every fifteen days. If you want new stalks, cut the stem below the joint.

Another popular plant is the Tree of Happiness, also known as Chinese bamboo. This is a plant with a few tubules with rosettes of green leaves. This plant has no relation to real bamboo – it's a species of Dracaena - Dracaena Fragrans Stedneri. In China and other Asian countries, this plant is considered a symbol of happiness and prosperity in homes. The Trees of Happiness are usually sold in vases with water. Taking care of this plant is simple – change the water, add fertilizer and clean the leaves from any dust.

Ireland is a tourist destination that is unrivaled as one can only get an experience unique to Ireland and nowhere else. It boasts an ancient culture of tradition and life filled with legends, myths, superstitions, as well as religious fanaticism which is still deeply rooted despite the incorporation of the modern culture thanks to advancement in technology and people getting educated and enlightened. The Irish are still respectful of their rich traditional culture and heritage.

Ireland as a country today is being promoted as a tourist hub by business people and hoteliers who stand to gain from the trade and tourism industry. They base their campaign on the quality of their accommodation characterized by heated swimming pools, mouthwatering delicacies, well equipped gyms, unrivaled dining experience and posh surroundings to mention but a few. Despite all these facilities, one will still need more than just accommodation to have a truly memorable experience. You will need an equally good time outdoors, be it in the beaches, in the museums, in the forests, a great shopping experience, just about anything, that will give you a truly memorable holiday.

One of the things you will regret missing while in Ireland is the Arts Festivals and Music Festivals. This is where Irish artists from all walks of life including street art, theater, music, literature, and comedy, to mention but a few come together and showcase their best talents yet. The Galway Arts Festival hosted from July the 13th to July the 30th is particularly a must if you happen to be in Ireland at this time of the year.

The panorama in Ireland is well-known worldwide with places such as the Ring of Kerry, Roundstone in Galway, and the Cliff of Moher in Clare topping the list of many tourists to Ireland. You should also take some time to sample rich architecture evident in the traditional grand homes and old castles such as the Westport House, the Bunratty Castle, the Clonalis House, and Ashford Castle to mention but a few. The architecture is still in admirable condition as most of the stately buildings have been refurbished to look as they were before. Further, some of these buildings offer accommodation, thus you can take your exploration even further into the rooms.

Your visit to Ireland will not be complete without shopping, and the locals know that too well, evident in the many souvenir shops strategically located. Multi-national companies too are not to be left behind as they now seem to have a branch in nearly every location in Ireland, all with the aim of giving you a true shopping experience in Ireland. The tiny country towns in Ireland, as expected, still have their old style shops and it is the place to visit if you are particularly after great shopping bargains.

The Irish people are warm, welcoming, and very accommodative, always ready to tell tourists and visitors of their rich cultural and architectural history and heritage. The traditional Irish thatched cottage, which is as old as Ireland itself, is still in good condition and in use by people in different parts of Ireland. Even though most people perceive them as outdated and old, there is so much to be experienced that you might not want to miss.

Ireland is equally rich in islands, all providing a characteristic experience. However, if you think of heading west of Ireland, the Aran Islands are a must visit. You can either fly to the islands or better still enjoy a good time in the waters as many companies today run boats to and from the islands several times every day.

A regular internet user will know that the virtual world has millions of websites. Among them to get your website seen is a tough task. However, it is very important that you market your website well so that it serves the purpose why you have created them. One such way is to submit your website to the link directory. The link directories are of two types the general link directories and the niche link directories. This article is penned down so that you understand what is the general link directory?

To the search engines the general link directories is the elder child. This means that it was launched ahead of the niche link directories. The link directories are the ones those host the back links of your sites. So the person trying to get the access to any websites trough the search engines is guided to back links through the link directories as these websites are submitted to the link directories. We will understand as to how a general link directory works.

As the name suggests the back links of the websites are included in the general link directory irrespective of the niche. However the last thing that could be done is to categorize these back links according to general specifications and through the information that are on the websites. Again these back links can be further sub categorized according to the purpose they serve but then even this sub categorization is general. Because of this particular structure of the general link directories they have certain limitations in comparison with the niche link directories.

Finding the relevant back links through the general link directories is mostly a concern to the visitors as they my not be aware of the categories and the subcategories. The chances that they will be driven to the wrong back links are more considering the number of back links that the general link directories host.

However, the general link directories that charge the fees for their services are very often better than the free link directories. Considering that you are a paying client they are bound to give better services and so they can take further efforts in order to improve their services and do something will simplify the task of searching the back links on the general link directories.

It is fact that whenever anything is introduced there will be advancements in it. The same is even applicable to the general link directories. The niche link directories have taken over them and very soon all of them are likely to get replaced by the niche link directories. Today all the major professionals as well as the organizations that have their own websites opt for the niche link directories over the over the general link directories.

Today the general link directories are considered as the outdated medium to promote ones website and it is not wrong at all considering the compatibility of the niche link directories. Whatever advancements the link directories undergo, the general link directories will always mark the beginning of the revolution that added new dimensions to the search engines.
