Whether consumers or business buyers, people today are skeptical and tight with their discretionary money. If customers have been slow to sign up for your paid offerings, try these practical copywriting exercises to increase the persuasive power of your marketing pitches.
1. For your company, think up reasons why people might think you're not good enough to deserve their business. Explain why those are, on the contrary, excellent reasons to buy from you.
2. Estimate your company's positivity score by giving yourself one point for every upbeat, sunny-side-up web page, article, blog post, etc. and one minus point for each instance of complaining, criticism, gloom or loathsomeness. After adding everything up, you should normally arrive at a solidly positive number. If not, make plans to shift your tone.
3. Find factual statements that you've written as if their significance to the customer is obvious. Give each such statement the "So what?" treatment. Ask "And what's good about that?" or "Why is that a good thing?" If your answers clarify the appeal of your statement, flesh out what you had written with clearer, more explicit implications.
4. Before finalizing a sales page, letter or postcard, pause to consider both the psychological and practical stakes involved if the recipient fails to take action. For example, they may become liable for fines and penalties, they may remain stuck with an unsolved problem or they might always be wondering what would have happened if they'd taken a certain risk. If you can work such issues into the piece without becoming cheesy, do so.
5. Have three people who don't know you or your business visit your web site and guess your average transaction size. If the guesses surprise you, make adjustments to the wording, design or order forms on the site and ask again.
6. Imagine that guarantees were declared illegal. Think of five things you could do that you're not currently doing to strengthen customers' confidence in your company. Then go ahead and do at least three of those things anyway.
7. Use the Supreme Court Nominee Test on your marketing copy. Is there anything that the opposition party could challenge as exaggerated, unsupported or downright false? If so, change it or take it out.
8. Reread your sales copy from the point of view first of someone super-cautious, second, someone super-skeptical and third, someone who likes to go wild wondering "What if…?" Make any changes needed to keep those people interested in buying from you.
9. Reread your web site and other marketing materials, and describe everything you can think of that your reader would naturally expect because of what you wrote. Then ruthlessly evaluate whether or not you fulfill those promises. If you fall short, adjust either your marketing copy or your services.
10. If you have a business plan, proposal or do-or-die sales page, ask colleagues to read it with a highlighter pen in hand, marking the three most compelling sentences in it. Chances are, these provide clues about how to capture attention for your message and explain it quickly.
11. Ask your five most recent new clients what feelings triggered them to seek your services. Appeal to those feelings in your marketing copy to establish rapport.
12. When looking for a concise little zinger, make a list of conventional ideas, clichés, misimpressions and boring sayings about what you're promoting. Then look at them slowly one by one to see what kind of twist you can put on it.

Let's suppose that two years from now, you would like to be perceived as an expert within a certain industry. Right now, however, you're a nobody. To build a reputation, you could write and publish a ground-breaking book. That's a lot of work! You could put a PR firm on retainer and have them get you into the spotlight. That's expensive. Or you could carry out an inexpensive postcard campaign that gets you noticed and talked about by the most important people in the industry.
Postcards?
Yes, but not the kind of postcards you are probably thinking of. I don't mean either the tourist type of postcards, with a colorful scene on one side and space for your message on the other, or advertising postcards, where there's a cute attention getting message on one side and a special limited-time offer if you do such and such.
I'm referring to content-rich postcards that you may not ever have seen but that have worked really well for some consultants, authors and entrepreneurs that I know. Think of them as a mini-article or mini-newsletter fit onto a postcard. This content positions you memorably in the minds of the postcard recipients, and after they receive 4-6 of these, you become a known and recommendable expert in their minds.
With appropriate design, you can fit up to about 300 words readably and attractively on a postcard. Design guru Chuck Green has a terrific article explaining and showing this kind of postcard design:
http://www.ideabook.com/tutorials/print_design/get_the_news_out_with_a_postca.html
Chuck Green's sample is modeled after a newsletter, and this sort of a postcard brought in $242,000 in new projects for a client of mine, who sent out just 200 postcards. Note that the newsletter-style postcard does not explicitly sell anything. It merely spotlights the person sending it as a knowledgeable (and creative) expert.
Your content-rich postcard could feature advice, a case study, tantalizing statistics you've collected or perspective on an industry problem. You could invite readers of the postcard to learn more by downloading a fuller treatment of the topic at your web site.
The optimum frequency of the postcards is four to six times a year. One expert I know plans, writes and designs a year's worth at one time so that he is certain to stay on schedule.
Who should receive the postcards? Create a customized list of recipients who fall into these categories:
· your top 10 "wish list" clients
· authors of books on topics related to your area of expertise
· active bloggers in the industry you're targeting
· popular podcasters or radio/TV talking heads, if applicable
· editors of trade magazines in this industry
· executive directors of trade or professional associations
· owners of relevant online membership sites or programs
· other movers and shakers
Finally, let's look at the nitty-gritty costs involved for, let's say 200 postcards, where you've compiled the list through in-house research. If you write and design the cards yourself – many postcard vendors now have online interfaces that make that simple – the printing and postage from a company like PostcardBuilder.com to recipients in the US would be just $126 for each mailing. Mailing to 200 people six times a year for two years would cost $1,512. If you need to add design costs, you could keep that expense to a minimum by requesting a template into which you could plug different content for successive postcards.
In most industries, mailing content-rich postcards to 200 influential people every couple of months truly can create a reputation for you in two years. Even if you decide to send to twice that many, 400 leaders, the whole process costs you less than practically any other reputation building strategy.

With ever-rising skepticism among consumers and business buyers, promoters have a steep mountain to climb when writing marketing copy. In that challenging selling environment, however, it's still very possible to earn attention and sell. The key is understanding what readers need to make up their minds to act.
Be direct, and remember to support your argument with credibility-boosting evidence and vivid imagery. Use these seven tips to spin a spell with words.
1. Become more believable by including one or two facts that argue for the opposite conclusion. When researchers asked people to rate the truthfulness of an ad that claimed superiority in all respects to another that claimed superiority in all except two respects, they rated the latter ad as more truthful and persuasive.
2. Tone down claims that, while true, seem hard to believe. If a particular investment appreciated 500% in just six months, without any apparent reason, seasoned readers may suspect a scam. Saying it more than doubled in value may be both true and more believable.
3. Earn credibility with testimonials, endorsements from industry leaders, uncensored user opinions and media coverage. With a new company, new product or new service, what's often missing, says George Silverman, author of The Secrets of Word-of-Mouth Marketing, is confirmation that claims made are valid, as well as verification that results apply to a particular situation. Third-party opinions help quiet the doubts of buyers and boost the trust necessary for a purchase.
4. Go head-to-head against the objections lurking in some readers' minds. Social psychologists at the University of Toledo tested the tactic of admitting a weakness of their case, rather than let it be brought up by the opposition, in both a civil and a criminal simulated trial. In both trials, doing this affected the verdict, influencing jurors to set aside the relevance of the negative information.
5. Turn negative points of your product imaginatively into virtues. For instance, ads for Jitterbug, a cell phone designed especially for seniors, boast that the device can't surf the Net, doesn't let you play games and won't tell you the weather. It simply functions as a phone, and for that population, those negatives become plusses.
6. Explicitly draw conclusions for readers instead of expecting them to make connections that feel obvious to you. It may seem obvious that the impending closure of your community hospital means that someone with a medical emergency in your neighborhood is more likely to die on the way to a hospital farther away, but people often don't realize such implications until you point them out in so many words.
7. When using numbers to make a point, always state what they show, with a story or caption for a chart. In one experiment, more than twice as many readers absorbed nutritional information when researchers presented it in a story than in a chart. Significantly more people exposed to the storytelling version remembered the point afterwards, too.
With added sensitivity to the persuasive principles above, your copy does a much more powerful job of turning words into profit.

With just 26 letters in the English alphabet, it sometimes seems impossible that language can meet all the selling challenges we set for it. The magic of persuasion lies in the art of choosing and arranging words. Subtle nuances of words can spell the difference between a reader losing interest or feeling an overwhelming desire to go on.
Here are five expert tips on using words to win attention, build credibility, trigger interest and eliminate doubts so people buy or register as a possible customer. Many of these points I learned at the feet of top editors at New York publishing houses, major magazines and public radio. Although they were teaching me how to shape words for the utmost clarity of factual information, the suspensefulness of a narrative line or the impact of commentary, the techniques apply just as well to using words to sell.
1. The word "but" deserves caution because it signals an obstacle or hitch and may subtly signal disparagement. Compare, for example, the increased power when we change "It's first come, first served, but we'll try to help you meet your deadline" to "It's first come, first served, and we'll do our best to help you meet your deadline."
2. Avoid the word "no," which functions like a stop sign, when trying to elicit action. See how that little two-letter word throws the message out of whack in this line on a billboard: "We'll call you back. No, really." When we simply remove the "no," the impact of the message strengthens. Likewise, there's an overall lift in impact when you change "No other local bank offers 24 hour answers about your loan" to "Unlike other local banks, you get 24 hour answers about your loan from us."
3. The present tense for verbs conveys more power and confidence than past or future tense. You can hear and feel the improvement from the usual "After our ten-point tuneup, your car will run like a dream" to "After our ten-point tuneup, your car runs like a dream."
4. Adverbs weaken statements, even though they're added as strengtheners. Avoid intensifiers like "really," "very" or "extremely." Get rid of "literally" any time your sentence doesn't pass the test of literalness: "We literally exploded in laughter." Did you explode, according to the dictionary definition of that word? No. Then out it should go.
5. Don't use violent metaphors like "killer web sites" unless you're targeting an audience that thrives on machismo. It's common to use violent, aggressive imagery as an all-purpose intensifier, but this makes for sloppy writing that makes many audiences pull back instead of smile. For instance, a sales coach promises "Deadly Efficient Selling." The word "deadly" suggests a process similar to a sniper picking off a victim with one shot and no wasted effort. Well, who is the victim, in that case? The customer? Surely most businesses do not want dead buyers.
Give every word choice a ruthless lookover during the editing process so you create the most persuasive argument with your arrangement of your 26 basic components!

Whether online or out in the world, attempting to win over busy people with formulaic phrases and sentences is like trying to sell fruit by displaying painted wooden bananas, peaches and strawberries that can't be tested by smell or touch. Instead, lure readers with original stories, sensory details, unexpected metaphors, relevant connections to their lives and the consequences of not taking action.
With the rise of the Internet, where shoppers can't touch the wares or look you in the eye to judge trustworthiness, words have a greater challenge to perform than ever before. But when you understand the angles and techniques that cut through the reader's fog of indifference, words can bring your offering to life and convince someone not physically present with you to express interest or complete a purchase.
Effective ways to maximize the power of words for lead generation or outright selling include:
* Extend the effectiveness of metaphors – imaginative comparisons in words – by pairing them with related images and expressions. For example, in my second paragraph above, I referred to "the reader's fog of indifference." I could continue with that metaphor by going on to talk about techniques that serve as fog beacons or lighthouses, that lift the fog, that offer fog-penetrating glasses, and so on.
* Tempt readers to picture themselves using your products by spinning fictional stories about them. A web site selling lingerie for plus-sized women, for instance, skyrocketed their sales by filling their newsletters with romantic stories about women wearing specific items they sold. The famous J. Peterman catalog likewise wove a spell around its items with wording that got the reader imagining swashbuckling adventures in exotic locales.
* Find positive, pleasant ways to communicate negative policies to keep your prospective buyer in an agreeable frame of mind. Note the enormous gulf between "No personal checks accepted!" and "We accept cash, credit or debit cards, international money orders, bank wires and traveler's checks."
* Feel free to use slang to explain a complicated concept while avoiding the tone of a schoolteacher. If your readers probably have never heard of a forensic accountant, for example, you could write: "He's the guy who finds the emails that people in hot water think they have deleted."
* Test whether or not you're saying something informative by reversing your adjectives and asking whether any merchant in their right mind would describe their product with those opposites. As Guy Kawasaki explains, "It would be fine to describe your product as 'intuitive, secure, fast and scalable' if your competition describes its product as 'hard to use, vulnerable, slow and limited.' However, this probably isn't the case, so you're saying nothing."
* Make your product descriptions juicier by describing vividly what readers can do and feel after they buy. Instead of "Ranchera Resort is devoted to the simple life–no phones, TV or Internet," try "By leaving your gadgets at the gates when staying at Ranchera Resort, recover from stress, rejuvenate your spirit and restore your joy for life."

Article Title: Understanding of the Reader is the Foundation of Copywriting Effectiveness

When words in a sales letter, publicity headline or other marketing piece must persuade, planning for the mindset of the reader is fundamental.
Today's reader is skeptical, distracted and easily bored. You probably realize this, but you may miss many of the implications of this fact for how you must put words together to get and keep attention and move the reader to action.
Here's how to work with rather than against the mindset of the reader in persuasive writing.
* Always write with the specific audience firmly in mind. The main cause of stilted writing is marketers putting words together to create a pie-in-the-sky document rather than to speak to a certain group of people.
* Use the pronoun "you" as your primary one rather than "we" or "they." This not only creates livelier wording, it more quickly triggers an emotional connection with you in the reader.
* Avoid dense wording with negatives that have to be read slowly and carefully to be understood. Any time you use two or more "not" type words in one sentence, you force someone trying to read quickly into time-consuming mental somersaults.
* Customer questions that appear stupid or out of left field may alert you to points you neglected to include or stated wrongly. For example, you wrote "Hampshire County" repeatedly without saying whether you meant the county by that name in West Virginia or Massachusetts. Or you forgot to change the program dates in promotional copy you reused from last year or the year before.
* Be explicit in what exactly you are writing about. Are you selling a book, an audio CD, a multi-media learning program or something else? Is this a downloadable program, a mobile phone application or a web-based service? It's astonishing how often writers neglect to nail down the basic facts.
* Find positive, pleasant ways to communicate negative policies to keep your prospective buyer in an agreeable frame of mind. Note the enormous gulf between "No personal checks accepted!" and "We accept cash, credit or debit cards and traveler's checks."
* Clarify your terminology instead of assuming the reader understands your jargon. A first-time home buyer is likely to get stuck on phrases you take for granted, like "HUD statement," "LTV," "Title 9" and "Underwriting." Including unobtrusive definitions keeps readers from feeling lost or baffled, while not insulting those in the know.
* Check the readability of your text, aiming at eighth to ninth grade level. In the 1930s and 1940s, Rudolph Flesch and Robert Gunning worked with the Associated Press and United Press to make news writing more readable. When the average reading level of newspapers dropped from the twelfth to the ninth grade, readership rose 45 percent. The same improvement in results occurs today with marketing writing on the web or on paper.
None of these tips dumb down your message. They merely grease the delivery path so what you wanted to communicate more easily gets across. Result: Your ideal customer reaches for their credit card and you get another juicy bank deposit.

Article Title: Use Marketing Psychology Wisely in Copywriting, Avoiding Treacherous Pitfalls

Marketing psychology is like a box of matches: Used wisely, it creates appealing warmth and brightness for a business, but it can also spark a reaction that blows up in one's face.
We've all heard of spectacular marketing backfire, like the promotional firm that unintentionally shut down Boston in 2007 by planting devices that were taken for bombs. But good ideas can also go wrong in smaller ways with an inadequate understanding of the principles of persuasion.
Avoid the risks of butting up against the pitfalls of marketing psychology by steering clear of temptations to mislead or insert obstacles into the selling process. Pitfalls I've observed in action include:
* Forgetting the skepticism of many consumers, who bail out because you didn't reassure them appropriately. If there are no hidden catches or costs, say so. Avoid letting customers worry about possible hassles, flaws in a service or the need to fight to get a refund.
* Exaggerating or misrepresenting things that buyers soon experience for themselves. For instance, a real estate ad for a house in my town claims "15 minutes to Northampton" (the county seat), when someone obeying speed limits could barely make it in 20 minutes. Another example is a franchise's ad claiming to be the only franchise brand committed to providing nutritious and delicious products. A quick Google search shows that to be untrue.
* Saying things that are hard to believe, even though they are true. If doing some little thing differently led to 4,000 percent better results, that strains credulity, even if it actually did happen. You're better off toning down the claim to something that is easier to swallow and also accurate, such as "more than 400 percent improvement."
* Forgetting to state fundamental facts. If you don't say so, how will people know that the "Springfield" you mention repeatedly in your promotion refers to Springfield, Colorado and not Springfield, Illinois or Springfield, Massachusetts or any of dozens of other Springfields in the world?
* Offending potential buyers' basic commitments and values. For instance, legendary adman John Caples asked firefighters whether they preferred an electric popcorn popper or a set of chef's knives as a reward for reviewing a film on fire safety. They responded angrily: "You think we'd adopt a fire safety program because of some #$&%! popcorn popper?"
* Connecting your brand with irrelevant or highly controversial causes. One business owner ended his otherwise very useful book on small-business marketing with a kooky write-up about an issue related to health care. Yes, this was very important to him, but it undermines his credibility with 99 percent of readers.
* Implying that your priorities matter more than your customers'. For example, this comes up when someone replies to all emails with boilerplate saying they reply to all emails after 2 pm every day because they get more work done that day.
By following these guidelines, you have a better chance of turning marketing psychology to your advantage, interesting potential buyers in your offerings and leaving them satisfied after their purchase.

Article Title: How to Profit From the Twists and Turns of Pricing Psychology

Prices are numbers, but how those numbers are selected, justified and displayed can have much more impact than bean counters would like to admit.
Pricing can increase or dampen desire, and you'd be horribly mistaken if you assumed lower prices always win the battle for buyers. In fact, there are a great many subtleties in pricing that surprise even the researchers in this field.
Many of the studies are carried out by researchers in behavioral economics, which studies the way social, cognitive and emotional factors affect the economic decisions of consumers and others. Another hotbed of pricing research is the field of menu engineering, which looks at how the wording, images and placement of various items on restaurant menus affect which items get ordered most. And then there are countless controlled tests carried out by sophisticated marketers and their consultants.
Recent scientific findings reveal some unintuitive principles of pricing psychology that you might be able to put into practice in your own business. For example:
* Presentation order matters. People are more likely to buy a $10 item if you show it after $100 and $1,000 items than before. Always show the most expensive option first.
* People love windfalls. Offers have greater appeal when you promise additional items of a different type as extras than when bundling the same items into a single package.
* People love savings. When you call attention to the amount of a discount, customers focus on that amount as earnings rather than think about what they spent.
* People hate surprises. When customers expect to pay $21 and do, they're much happier than when they expect to pay $20 and encounter a charge of $21.
* People dislike separate charges. It hurts more to pay $50 plus $120 plus $75 than $245. If you can then arrange for that $245 to be deducted automatically from expected income, as from paychecks or tax refunds, the payment psychologically disappears.
Other lessons about pricing from veteran marketers:
* Posting high prices for professional service firms (who traditionally post no prices at all) attracts million-dollar clients, because it helps eliminate doubts about the value of a firm's services. If others have paid premium prices, they must be worth it, people think, consciously or unconsciously.
* Sheer nerve has a role in pricing. If you don't dare to price your wares high, you'll never discover that a sufficient number of buyers accept those prices without question.
* Two-tier pricing, with regular and deluxe options, adds to revenues not only from the higher-priced product or service, but also from increased sales of the regular version. The higher tier boosts the perceived value of the lower-priced option.
* In a market where many customers shop by price, there are always others willing to pay premium prices for extra value: faster delivery, guaranteed return phone calls, training or advice included in the price or a bundling of products and services not available elsewhere.
* What someone can afford and what they will pay aren't necessarily related in a logical or predictable way. For any given offering, one customer may have next to no income or savings yet decide they have to have it, while someone with a Fortune 100-sized budget decides the same offering costs too much.

Book publishing and ebook publishing used to take time. Not only that, but it wasn't easy to do and you could easily get sucked away in the nitty gritty technical side of publishing.
Thankfully all that has changed and now ebooks are fast to write and quick to publish. If you were to sit and write all the time, it's possible for you to publish 12 to 24 ebooks a year. Or maybe even more.
Publishing companies used to hold authors to ransom by being choosy about who they would publish. It wasn't because they wanted to be mean, but book publishing used to be expensive and even ebook publishing wasn't easy in the early days which meant that most authors still preferred to use a publishing company to publish their ebooks.
But now it's possible to write and publishing all your own ebooks. It's not only possible but it can also be highly profitable. There are thousands of self published authors earning a full time income, and some are also self published millionaires.
Ebooks are not just easy to publish but there is also more money to be made because without the cost of printing, overheads are minimal and once your ebook is published and available to buy, there's nothing more you have to do. No more copies have to be produced and it can go on selling for years.
There are many books that have been written about ebook publishing and some of them are huge books containing hundreds of pages. This can make the ebook publishing (otherwise known as e-publishing) look hard.
But it isn't publishing your own ebooks is easy. Really easy.
The simplest way to publish an ebook is to open a Kindle publishing account with Amazon.com, which only takes minutes to do. It's just a matter of inputting your information about yourself.
When you write an ebook, you convert it to an HTML document (which only takes one click with Microsoft Word) and then upload it to the Kindle site and Amazon automatically converts it to an ebook for you. You can also choose which countries you want to sell your ebook in, your book's price, the amount of royalty you want to earn (35%or 70%) and that's it. You're done.
Formatting your ebook is easy too. If you use Microsoft Word, you choose the styles first which means choosing how you want your headings, paragraphs, bulleted lists, etc to look and then as you write, your ebook is formatted automatically for you.
And with Amazon, your ebook, if written in English, is published on their site within 12 hours (72 hours for other languages).
So you see it's not complicated at all. It's all very straight forward and simple to do.
And once you have your Amazon account set up and you have your styles saved to an ebook template, it's even easier to repeat the whole process again with every ebook you write.
So don't put off becoming a self published author any longer. It's not complicated at all and you're safe in the knowledge that you can publish every book you write and sell it worldwide.
If you start now, you can publish your ebook today.

Cleaning the teeth twice a day can help to keep them relatively free of staining, but professional teeth whitening methods can produce amazing results in a very short period of time. These are generally available under the supervision of a dentist and this method of tooth whitening is gaining in popularity because of its success.
Enamel, which is the first layer on the tooth's surface, is partially translucent. The layer which lies beneath the enamel, normally referred to as dentine, is usually yellow, but could be brown, gray, or black. This is the color that can be seen appearing through the enamel. In order to improve the color of teeth it is necessary to use a substance which will penetrate the enamel and reach the dentine.
At the start of the teeth whitening process, the teeth are cleaned thoroughly with pumice, which is a coarse material and removes the plaque from the surface of the teeth. This is followed by the application of a whitening solution which is coated onto the surface.
Either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide is used as the whitening or bleaching agent. Some of the whitening products may require the use of a light or laser, which adds heat to the agent and activates it. The extra treatment helps to open the small pores in the outer layer of the teeth. The peroxide solution is then able to reach the dentine and help to make it whiter. The whole treatment time may need the solution to stay in place for a half an hour to an hour.
Throughout this application period, the teeth will whiten and when the desired color has been reached, they are rinsed with water. At this point, an application of fluoride may be necessary. This helps to relieve any sensitivity in the teeth that is occasionally felt by some recipients of the process.
After the process is over, it is necessary to avoid certain foods and beverages which are high in pigments. This includes coffee, processed tomato products, mustard, red wine and tobacco. You should allow 24 hours before consuming these products as it gives a chance for the pores which are embedded in the enamel to close up so as to prevent the occurrence of re-staining.
Your Dentist will Decide if Teeth Whitening Is for You
In some situations chemical teeth whitening is not appropriate. When the teeth have already been restored by the use of veneers or by replacement of fillings with white ones, carbamide or hydrogen peroxide cannot be used for whitening these products. The only way to bring back the sparkle to veneers is to have them replaced. They are then color matched to the surrounding teeth.
Teeth that are brown or gray in appearance are not the best candidates for chemical teeth whitening. The best results occur when the teeth are yellow in appearance. The most appropriate way of whitening teeth that are not suitable for normal teeth whitening products and procedures is to use permanently applied veneers. These are prepared in a dental lab after an impression of the teeth has been made. They offer a quick solution to discolored teeth and can be replaced with relative ease once they have become discolored themselves.

It doesn't take long after skimming through a few of the top stories in the national news to see that US security remains a hot topic and a priority for the US Government. Strategic security is a broad but important term when related to National Security, defined as a national plan on continuing to direct government agencies on security related issues. It encompasses policy, directives, and legislation focused on keeping the US and our interests abroad and at home safe. It involves diplomatic actions, the Department of Defense (DOD), Homeland Security, and various other government agencies that have a role in National Security. Likewise, strategic security courses combined with intelligence analysis plays a major role in National Security.
The continued rhetoric and threats from the Korean Peninsula continue to show the instability in the region which affects US strategic security and has effects on National Security. News from that region indicates nuclear weapons tests and possible movement of ballistic missiles. This is a perfect example where training in strategic security courses can prove valuable for National Security. The world is a dynamic place and there are no books or guides that tell us if a particular country does that, then the US response will be this. The decision of what to do is based on subject matter experts, diplomatic relations, intelligence collection, and accurate and timely intelligence analysis. When all this information comes together, it provides the most up to date and relevant information on the subject at hand, allowing US decision makers to make the best decision with the information available.
Turning to a more local threat, domestic terrorism and counterterrorism is a major role of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Since 9/11, new policy and legislation direct the Intelligence Community (IC) to increase collaboration across all agencies, including local and state law enforcement. Many large law enforcement agencies across the US now have trained intelligence professionals on their staff to gain intelligence on criminals, drug trafficking, domestic terrorism, and a host of other areas that they are responsible for. Local and state law enforcement agencies play a major role in National Security as they interact daily with their community. The interaction with the community can result in tips leading to identification of threats to National Security. Training from strategic security courses and proper intelligence analysis for law enforcement agencies will continue to be critical in identifying threats early. The ability of local and state law enforcement agencies to process, analyze, and disseminate the information they receive is critical in detection and prevention of local crime as well as national threats. These threats include terrorism and multi-jurisdiction organized crime and can only be successful with open lines of communication between federal agencies and local and state law enforcement agencies.
The world will remain a dynamic and ever changing place. National Security will always be a top priority for US government and will require experienced and trained personnel in strategic security and the intelligence field to assist with this important mission.

In these difficult economic times, some industries and professions are more resilient than others. The intelligence profession is among one of the more recession-proof professions. Though there are many opportunities that reside in one of the 17 agencies that comprise the Intelligence Community (IC), opportunities are also available in the private sector. In examining internet job sites, such as Monster, career builder, intelligence careers, cleared jobs , or clearance jobs, one can find numerous available job postings online for those in the intelligence profession. Those sites just list a portion of opportunities in the intelligence profession. Many more are available at job fairs tailored to companies looking for intelligence professionals. Additional opportunities are available at companies such as transition careers and cleared connections, who, in addition to running job fairs for those within the intelligence profession, also post job opportunities online.
How does one become an intelligence professional? Like any profession, one should pursue studies in intelligence, just as one seeking a career in business or education would pursue studies in business or education to make themselves more competitive for hiring into such careers. In pursuit of an education in intelligence, one should seek a degree in intelligence from a recognized school or program that specializes in studies in intelligence.
Intelligence agencies and companies offering job opportunities to individuals in the intelligence profession must recruit to fill their job openings. They are not always able to recruit experienced individuals and must resort to entry-level programs to develop and train new talent. In screening new candidates, these organizations look for individuals with the right background, skills, and education to meet organizational needs. Individuals with degrees in intelligence or completion of programs that specialize in studies in intelligence demonstrate that they have the foundational knowledge to enter the intelligence profession.
Prior to September 11, 2001, few opportunities existed outside of government programs offered by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), such as the Joint Military Intelligence College and the Center for the Studies of Intelligence, for those seeking a program to study intelligence. Today, there are brick and mortar options available to persons seeking a school or program that specializes in studies in intelligence, at traditional universities such as Mercyhurst College and Georgetown University.
What about options to those that cannot attend classes in a classroom, but still want to pursue studies in intelligence to further their potential to enter the intelligence profession? For those individuals in such situations, such as deployed members in the military, or persons who are working professionals that have to balance competing demands on time at day jobs and family, online education is a viable alternative. Online schools that offer programs specializing in studies in intelligence have existed prior to September 11, 2001, such as American Military University and others. And today, there are more than ever since the United States focused on combatting terrorism as a national priority. Schools offering such programs add the benefit of flexibility for persons unable to commit to attending classes in a classroom setting. One can easily find such programs on most internet search engines by typing "studies in intelligence, "or "strategic security" into the engine's search field.

General lighting in rooms or buildings which have high ceilings is usually provided by LED high bay light fixtures. They can be found in many different places such as gyms, garages, storage facilities and warehouses. It has been discovered that various types of LED high bay light fixtures can have a definite impact on the functionality of an area and on its appearance. Before making a choice you have to consider the kind of lighting a building needs as well as the kind of budge it has for maintenance and operation when taking into consideration the selection of LED high light fixtures.
It is very important to take into consideration the kind of design each fixture has. LED high bay lighting fixtures usually come in linear or pendant forms. The difference is that pendants take up more space and they need a ceiling which is higher in height than the linear fixtures do because they are only a few inches thick. So be sure you know exactly the kind of LED high bay light fixture which you require.
Other things which you should take into mind are that there are some LED high bay light fixtures which can be pretty heavy and will need extra support. Therefore you should make a comparison between your present ceiling configuration and the installation requirements for each light in order to decide which fixture would work best. Things that you should know are that traditional high bay fixtures make use of high-intensity discharge (HID) technology while modern fixtures use fluorescent bulbs. You must be sure that there is no problem with the warm-up factor at your place of work because when an HID light gets switched on it will take around 10 minutes for it to warm up and provide light.
When it comes to lighting power HID lights have the possibility to provide more light over a greater distance and can be the better choice for rooms which have high ceilings. So all you have to do is to select the design which best suits your workplace. LED high bay lights can be protected by a wire cage, a lens or they can be left unprotected. However keep in mind that protected lights are kept safer from damage especially in work areas where equipment might come close to them. On the other hand unprotected lights do have a higher degree of lighting and can be more affordable so they should be the choice when no equipment or no one can get near them.
So make sure you know the kind of lighting you need and the kind of space where it will be set up to be sure that everything goes according to all safety regulations. Remember that the last thing you would want is for your LED high bay lighting fixture to come crashing down. Get all the information you need and do it right the first time getting adequate lighting just where you need it the most.

Another great thing about LED high bay lights is that they are resistant to breakage and damage and will withstand being dropped or bumped. That is very important especially if they are set up in high work areas.

For a long time people have always had one kind of problem with lighting or another. Either the lighting wasn't sufficient enough or it ate up a lot of electricity meaning higher electric bills. For a limited time high pressure sodium lamps found their way into the limelight and most everyone was familiar with seeing the yellowish orange light they emitted glowing in the dark of night. However it was not very cost efficient and didn't light up enough area.
Then along came LED lights which gave off much more light, lit up more of an area, ate up less electricity and were energy efficient and thus the LED high bay lights became the lights of choice for people looking to light up their business or home properties. These high bay lights have an output of 75 lumen per watt and are three times as effective as metal halide lamps. So in they actually burn much brighter than other lights which is important when you want to be able to see all about a certain area. Dimmer lights just don't do as well a job as these do.
A LED high bay light gives steady lighting with no flickering and does not get overheated. Another advantage is that these lights offer up to 80% savings when considering electric consumption and will give you a 15% to 20% reduction on your air-conditioning expenses. You won't have to worry about changing your high bay lights as often since the LED high bay light offers a service life of more than 50,000 hours and less maintenance is needed.
Now if you are not sure if you need a LED high bay light then there are some things to take into consideration which will help you to decide. First of all you should think about getting this type of light if your fixtures have HID or T12 fluorescent lamps and if they tend to make a buzzing sound and flicker. Another thing why you should consider setting up a LED high bay light is if the area where you want to place the light has its share of light outages and you need lights which don't have a prolonged re-strike period and are not prone to on off cycling. Last but not least some other things to look into are if the employees in your workplace have reported getting headaches or vision related challenges and if you would like to reduce air-conditioning loads.
As you can see LED high bay lights are worth looking into for your lighting needs because they will save you money and are energy efficient and will last you a long time. You won't have to worry that suddenly the light will burn out since these lights give you so many more hours of service. In the long run you will also have saved money on electric bills and you will be glad that you chose to purchase and install LED high bay lights.
