It is the same thing that happens when you brand yourself. When you learn something thoroughly, I do not care what it is, anything that anyone else does not know, you are an expert at it. We have a book in our top members area on squidoo.com. Squidoo came out last summer. We found it on the search engines because someone else was using it in their marketing, it just came out recently. We began to look at it and try to figure out how we could use it to generate traffic. When you know how to market you can pick up and find anything that you can use that can potentially generate traffic for you and that way you can apply it to your marketing methods.

So we picked up squidoo and tested a few things, tweaked it to our system and all of a sudden at that time it had about thirty-seven thousand lenses on it. Lenses is what squidoo uses, kind of like how blogger uses blogs, squidoo uses lenses. And in about a month or so we were in the top one hundred with three different lenses of thirty-seven thousand other users and lenses on squidoo.com. We were using this traffic from squidoo through the search engines, because we found out that google loves squidoo, so we started implementing things and we found out that you could make thousands of dollars a month using affiliate programs, marketing different things.

That is just an example. We have videos and books on how to use it, how to get yourself in the top one hundred, how to use it to generate as much traffic as you want for free. The great thing is a lot of these traffic methods that you use to generate sales in your business are free, you do not have to pay a dime for it. But there are two things in marketing. When you are going to market and find a method to use to generate traffic, you are going to do two things. One, you are either going to exchange your time, which is a free method in order to get something for free you have got to exchange your time to set things up and do things. Or, you pay money and it does not take a lot of your time.

Like for instance, pay per click. If I developed a campaign for pay per click, I would develop an ad and put the keywords in there, I would set it up and once I tweak it to where I want it, like we show you on the pay per click videos to where it runs properly, I do not spend much time doing it. That campaign will run by itself. I might check it once a week just to make sure my ad might not have fallen down, just to keep it in the prime position that I want it in, but it runs by itself. Whereas if I were writing an article, which is a free method, if I am doing the article method, I am going to, especially initially when I am using it for a marketing tactic for a product or a service that I am marketing, or a home based business, or mlm, I am going to write one to three articles a day, probably three.

An article should only take you maybe fifteen or twenty minutes to write. And it will take you less than five minutes to use the tactics that we have in our members area in the marketing videos for press releases and articles, but I am going to do that for like thirty days, probably sixty days. In thirty to sixty days my information on what I am marketing is all over the place. It just takes some of your time. Same thing with articles and press releases, you know how to do what I just told you there, you use it, you test it, you mold it to yourself, if it works for you and you are making sales from it, you can become the article king or queen, whatever you want to call yourself, we come back to the branding again.

Now, what is branding. There are other aspects of branding in what you can provide, what you are really good at that you could provide for the market that you are in. If by default you provide marketing, and you have been real good at marketing since even before you came online, and then came online and continued to start to make a lot of money, you could get lots of people asking you, can you show us how you are making money, how do you market, how do you do this. How do you do what you do. So by default we started teaching people marketing.

We did not choose to do this, but this is what people wanted, we were good at providing something to the market that is of value and so we did that. There are different things that you can do, if you are really good at pay per click, say the only way that you can have a branding of that type is if you master something. A lot of people that come to my company are people that learn information from other people or anywhere else. We always tell people the same thing, you need to pick one thing and learn and master that before you move on to the next thing.

With my company, if you just came in or you have been in for a while and you are kind of stuck and do not know what to do, pick one thing, pick one of the ebooks and learn what is in that ebook. Or you can pick one of the videos in pay per click, or articles and press releases or using other people's list or any video, and that tactic, just do that. Even though you might find yourself wanting to stray from that a week, or a few days or a month after, do not do it. Pick that tactic up, do it and do it and mold it to yourself as to how you do things until you are making sales or it is successful for you for whatever you are using it for.

At that point, when you do that you are almost there to mastery. A full mastery of something means you have learned it, you have applied it, you have molded it to yourself and you have become really good at that tactic, or better than the average person. When you do that you can actually expound on that tactic. When you have mastered a tactic or a marketing method, you can use that marketing method to make whatever amount of money you want. We have trained people that could just use pay per click and make forty, fifty, eighty thousand dollars a month, just with pay per click. Not using any other marketing tactic. We can do the same thing with press releases and articles. We can do the same thing with using other people's lists, because it is over and over again.

Now, when you have mastered something, or become really good at it, better than the average person, you can then show other people what you know, because you are better than the average person. If you have gone so far as to master it, you know a great deal about that subject, you know it works because you do it personally, it is not based on theory, it is not going to be reading any book or watching any video and then say, okay, I read this and watched this and now I am going to teach you what I have just read and watched, no. You have to apply it so you can practice what you preach. There is no way you can show somebody how to do something if you did not do it yourself.

I do not consider myself that smart. I cannot make up stuff like that. There are a lot of people in the world that do that and can do that but I cannot. You have to have practical application. When you know something you have practical application, you are able to know the inside and outside of the program. For example, take pay per click, you become really good at pay per click, you can make sales with your company and you are able to do that consistently. Now you can brand yourself as the pay per click genius, the pay per click king or queen, or whatever you want to call yourself and that way when you start calling yourself that, people start to recognize you as that, especially if you show them what you are doing and it works.

With my company we have videos, this is why we are creating more, we are creating more ebooks, downloadable books that you can download and read and things that show you how to market so you never ever have to worry about not knowing how to target market or get traffic.

Now back to the college thing. So along the same lines, people go to college for four, six, eight years even, to be a doctor. And even doctors come to this industry, I have certainly seen that myself over the past few years, doctors come to this industry. It is the same thing, to make money but not get their degree in this industry on knowing how to target market. They come in here, do everything and not get their degree on learning how to do the proper things in this industry.

So some people come in and join the industry because they are deeply in debt and they are not making any money, they just got laid off their job, they are emotionally distracted and just want to make money and cannot even think and do not want to take the time to learn anything, they just want to make money. Well, they get more upset because they do not make any money because they do not know what they are doing and get mad at everybody else.

Everybody has different situations, there are things in life that happen, people die, people get sick, there are emergency situations that happen in life. But in this industry when you have a home based business you have to treat it as such, if you have a home based business, treat it as a business separate from you. Now, some people need to go as far as to have a separate bank account, separate your money. And these are things that you should talk to you accountant about, but you have to separate yourself from your home based business.

You cannot become emotionally involved in your marketing if you are creating a sales page, or a lead capture page or anything of the sort. You have spent all this time, because most people that become emotionally involved and spend a lot of time and really work hard on something, they spend all this time creating this lead capture page, or this ad, or this sales page, or this auto responder series and they think it is the best thing in the world. They have not tested it or anything, but they think it is the best thing in the world.

And so if they seek advice from anybody they are very defensive about their marketing pieces because they are emotionally involved and even though they are trying to help and get them going in the right direction, they are too emotionally involved to fix their marketing pieces, because they spent too much time on it. Second, they go out there and try marketing with it and do not get the results that they are looking for. Then they blame the product, that it is not good, or other excuses, when in actuality it is their own marketing pieces.

Now when you are target marketing in your home based business, one of the best things that you can do is test, test and tweak. Well, how do you test. You do not create a marketing piece, your ad, your lead capture page, your auto responder series and go out and start spending a thousand dollars a day or a thousand dollars a week on your advertising. You spend a little bit or do some free marketing to test and see how it converts. Then tweak it, test it, tweak it, do not do any major tweaks to it, I mean tweak your headline, tweak some stuff in your sales page, your lead capture page, or your ad.

Another good thing to do is, if you have any friends when you make a marketing piece, call them up, email them, tell them to look at your lead capture page, look at your ad, look at your auto responder series, read through it. Do not ask them what they think, ask them what they thought. Not that they thought it was good, but what were they thinking when they read your pieces.

I am not going to lead you astray and say go put ads here or do articles and blogs when I am sitting here doing pay per click ads under keywords in our target market, I am not going to do that. I teach you what I do myself, because it works. Everything that I do I will show you. I have lots more, tons more to show you than what is in our members area right now. We constantly add to our program. We will add a video series to the powerhouse marketing system, but the main level that we will be adding things to is the higher level product package in our company.

That is our premium package. That is the package that people, if they want to, can take their business to the next level, they can get that. That is a package deal. You get the lower and higher level package for the higher level package price. And not only that, you will get all the future updates as a product owner that is paid to the higher level which we will be adding things to as we go along.

Now, the videos that we have in there, they will never be able to be downloaded. The only people able to get into that area are the people who are the paid members. Why are we not going to make downloadable videos, because we know that they will be passed around the internet really fast. And people will use them to train their down lines in their home based business and whatever else they will do with them really fast. And they will never pay a dime for it. We like to help people, but I believe, as a responsible business owner that you should pay for things that are worth the money.

These videos and the ebooks that are written are worth it because it enables people to make thousands and thousands of dollars, it enables people to do something that they have never been able to do before. It enables people who are making thousands and thousands of dollars every month to make more money. It enables people to be in control of their life, because me personally, I have been there, worked a job, I have worked different jobs since I was twelve years old. I have done hard work.

Now, working for somebody else, I do not believe that is secure, because they can lay you off at anytime for any reason. If the company is having problems, the first thing that they are going to do is layoffs without changing anything in their problems. They will not change their marketing, without increasing sales, if they layoff people who they are paying out, it immediately brings them back up to the line or put them over the line of profit. So that leaves you, who is working for somebody else, not secure. And that is what I found out.

Not that I ever was laid off, but I have heard and seen many people get the shock of their lives after many, many years of working for a company. All of a sudden they are laid off. Retirement down the drain, everything in the company that they had invested was just gone. Not only that, if you have a boss or a manager who is out for you for some reason, if you do anything wrong, even personally in your personal life, you might have gone out with them or talked with them outside your job, or anything on the job, or anything where they are all of a sudden offended, or do not like you, your job is in their hands. They can make your life miserable and can get you fired.

I found this out, this never happened to me, but I found this out just recently. People that are over you will control your career, they control when you advance or when you do not advance. So you cannot just say well, I am going to go out and make, you are making fifteen dollars an hour now, I am going to go out and make twenty-five dollars an hour and that is what I am going to do. Well, you cannot, not unless that boss gives you that raise and nobody gives you that raise at all. I find it sad that government jobs and teacher jobs and things of this sort, get raises every years like one or two percent, twenty cents, thirty cents, thirty-five cents, they are lucky if they get fifty cents. I really think that is sad.

People come to you with a problem, and what is your solution, you give them your product. You create an ad, tired of your problem, and then they go to your landing page and you talk more about it and you have your auto responder series and you have a product that you are selling and it will solve their problem. So that is target marketing. Same thing if you are selling meat, you are not going to sell it to the whole world, because part of the world does not eat meat. And the other part is what kind of meat are you selling, steak, well why sell only steaks if a lot of people only like chicken and fish. Sell to somebody who is looking to buy steak, that is target marketing. It is the same thing in our industry, you have to hit your target market when you work from home doing internet marketing.

Now, this is a part of the reason why people fail. In this industry ninety to ninety-five percent of the people fail. Some people fail in this industry because they cannot control their mind, or they might be a little lazy, or they might have certain circumstances in their life holding them back from succeeding. And then the rest of everybody else is failing because they do not know how to market.

I have a very simple internet marketing formula, very simple, this is a internet marketing online formula in the simple form. It is targeted traffic pointed towards a targeted landing page or sales page equals money or commissions. Now, everybody else in this industry comes, in this specific industry that we are in right now, comes to this industry wanting, they are basically honed in on the right side of that equation in the equals money or commissions. They see the money, they want the money.

Somebody is telling them I make thirty sales this past month, or I made a hundred thousand dollars last month, or eighty thousand dollars, or I am making ten thousand dollars or whatever. And that is all they see, and that is what they want. They want to come into this industry and not learn the left side of the equation and just make money without doing anything. Or they try staying up hours and hours during the day or late at night after the job trying to do this thing, this marketing thing, and are just doing it wrong. Or they spend all their time on the internet when they are suppose to be doing something to market, just wasting their time by checking their email the whole time, reading emails.

The whole purpose of emails is to get you to click through the subject line to the email. The whole purpose of the email inside of it is to get you to click through to the web page. The whole purpose of the web page is to either capture your name or to the sales page to convert you to the sale. So all this time spending doing that you are falling into other sales processes instead of creating your own sale process to make you money.

If you search around search engines and everything else, what do you see in the search engines, information, such as people in the top ten search engines. It is the same sales process, you get there, click through, they have a sales page or a lead capture page and you fall into the lead capture page. You put your name and email in and you get more information sent to your email than you ever did before.

They send you to a sales page with an offer for you to buy something, you buy that product, if you do, you have already spent all this time looking at it, reading the sales pages, going back and forth doing unnecessary research on it, because you do not belong there buying it anyway. All of a sudden you spend more money and what you should be doing is spending that money to make more money for yourself, because you are trapped in a day to day job, or your need to make more money for your family. And basically all this time, if you look at the time you spend doing this stuff, it is wasted time on time you should have been using to develop your own sales process in marketing and making money for yourself.

So on to the next section in target marketing. So you have your prospect, you targeted them, they click into your ad, they are on your landing page or your lead capture page. Next what do you people do, they try to target too many people at one time. They try to target and here let us just say somebody is trying to target mlm, 1 ups 2 ups, cash programs, courses, you name it, anything and everything that has to do with this industry all on one lead capture page. I am not saying you will not get any op-ins, I am not saying that. But how do we set that up. It needs a better ad.

If you are talking an ad like tired of failing because you do not know how to market in the ad, and the person clicks on your ad, what are they thinking, they are looking for a solution, more information about the ad on your landing page. And the people go off and talk about different things on the landing page. When I come to a landing page I am looking for you to talk more about why I am failing in marketing and what is my solution, what do I have to do. Well, the solution is I am going to share this niche with you, but you need to put your name and email address in here.

You want to give enough information where you are giving them more than what you have in that little tiny ad, but not enough to where you share the whole table of food. You want them to op-in if they are interested, they need a solution to their problem, it this problem fits them, they need to op-in so they can get more information to solve their problem. And then what is next, you send them a thank you page or a sales page of the product that you are selling and you are going to follow up with them with targeted auto responder series, again, talking more about the problem that they have and the solution.

Now, are you going to share more information with them in the auto responder series, yes. I mean you have to teach them something, that is the idea to provide some quality content. Are you going to give away the entire business, no. The solution, every auto responder series, the solution after that page always comes back to the product that you are selling. In my company we have a product that teaches you how to market from a marketing videos to all our ebook selections. We also have ebooks that share ways with you on how to make more money online. We also have ebooks that will help you in self improvement from procrastination to other things.

But the solution to this person's problem is always going to come back to you product. Let us face it, this whole process of hitting your target market, getting them to come to your page, getting them to op-in in your auto responder series and following up is to sell them on your product. I am going to say that this is a sales industry, this is what this is, sales. It can be a sales process, but you can also look at it as providing a solution for people that are having problems. They choose to buy it, I just provide the solution and the product, and that is how it goes.

This same thing applies to everything you do online. If you are going to be an affiliate marketer online, same thing, if you are trying to sell something that is going to cure a particular disease, you are not going to go out and sell it to the whole world if they do not have that particular disease, one does not have anything to do with the other. So you have to find the keywords of the people that have that particular disease, who are looking for that particular keyword to solve their problem.

And the beautiful thing is when people have an agitation, they are coming and looking, whether they are looking online in the search engines, they are on websites and you have you ads out there on the websites, however you market online, however you marketing off line, in newspapers, magazines, billboards, however else you market off line. When people see the ad, when they come looking for the solution after looking up something, they are looking in a magazine for their particular problems and they see you ad or they are looking online, searching under their problem, they are all coming for a solution.

How many different programs do you need to make money, not many. It's a large industry. And so those millions and millions of people are already targeted. That is my number one target market, not to say that all my advertising goes to just them, but that's my first target when I work from home. Second, once they sign up you will find out a lot of them are already familiar with this industry and know how to market, a lot of them usually know other people in the industry, like themselves, who they can refer the product to or the product of the business that you are in, whatever business you might be in, and so you can make another sale, an override.

If you are in an mlm company and you have a down line of four, six, eight or nine levels, that is how it goes, you make more sales. In my company I make a direct sale to someone in this industry and they refer five or six, eight, ten or forty other people in the first week or the first month, that is how many hundred dollar and two hundred dollar overrides I get, instantly, paid instantly to me. It is a better bang for my buck there also.

So, unlike people who are not familiar to this industry, they do not need as much training. Some just start right away, some get started right away and learn more from our product than how to market. So that is the number one target market, this industry. Now, I am not saying that you cannot target other people that are looking for a home based business or to work from home, I am saying that it is a different process, that is the target market, it is a different process.

First in your sales process you are going to have to convert them into wanting to have their own home based business. They are looking, they have not been sold on getting their own home based business. Second, you have to convert them on buying the product of whatever business you are in. Now, back to target marketing. This is why it is the same sales process, same marketing process for whatever you are marketing. The entry point is you have to have some kind of ad, and I am going to use pay per click right here, and again this will work, pay per click ads is the same thing if you use it for classified ads, online, off line newspapers, magazines, whatever it might be, it is all little small ads.

Now that small ad, when you write it, usually you get like three or four lines and that includes your website address. The first line, obviously, is the headline. You have to hit your target market and hit a problem that they have. For instance, cannot market, tired of failing in mlm, tired of not making sales, and basically you give them enough information to want to click on your ad and to go to the next page, which is your landing page, or your lead capture page.

In the ad that you write, here is a point where people make mistakes. They are targeting a keyword, they are targeting, let us just say, make money on line, but yet in their ad they are saying 1 ups or 2 ups are dead, or tired of not making money in mlm, or cannot make any sales, or whatever they might say, whatever problems people have. And they are targeting that home based business or make money on line. Well, it totally does not apply to them, they have never been in this industry, most of them.

So their ad is not targeted enough. Whereas, if they were targeting something in this industry like other keywords, it is targeted. If I am targeting people that are in 1 up or 2 up programs, why am I going to talk about mlm. Even though 1 up and 2 up programs are kind of in the mlm industry and are considered mlm, it is just like a qualification process to be an afflilate, but most people think of mlm as down lines, huge down lines or some type of down line. So I would say 1 ups and 2 ups instead of mlm. People routinely mess up their ad initially with that.

I would spend seventy-five dollars any day to make four hundred dollars, so that is not bad. But if you can do better when you work from home, why not do better. I am not saying do not accept that at that time, but why not tweak things a little better, test, test, test and make more money. So that's not bad, it's seventy-five dollars, we got four hundred dollars, that's three hundred and twenty-five dollars profit in our pocket, not including the way I teach you to put some advertising dollars back, because you don't want to rob yourself.

Now, I'm going to use one out of every three clicks on op-in, I'm going to use the same thing, twenty-five cents per click, so basically out of a hundred clicks, I'm going to get thirty-three op-ins. Now, why don't you back up for a second and look at what we just talked about before this. My conversion is one op-in out of every three clicks, thirty-three op-ins. Again, I'm going to have the same sales process you have, the same follow up and everything that converts one out of every twenty people to a sale, one out of every twenty op-ins. At this point I've spent twenty-five dollars, thirty-three op-ins.

I have already made one sale, remember, we make one sale out of every twenty op-ins, that is according to our sales, according to what we have been doing. So I've already made one sale, four hundred dollars and we have spent twenty-five bucks and are well on my way to my second sale, because I already have thirteen op-ins more than twenty, I have got thirty-three. So I've already made four hundred dollars, got three seventy-five in my pocket faster than that other person that's basically making a sale out of every three hundred clicks, I make one sale out of every hundred clicks and I get thirty-three op-ins.

So you can see the difference, to me, and to some people it might not be worthwhile. Some people are happy, okay I've spent seventy-five dollars and I'm making a sale for every seventy-five dollars I spend, I'd be happy with that, but I like to take things a little further. I like to put more money in my pocket, more op-ins, more bang for the buck. And once you get to that point of getting that ratio you just let it go. If the op-ins start to slow down a little bit, adjust your ad a little bit to get about the same ratio, to get one out of every three clicks to get an op-in. But as you can see, when you work from home as a business it's more profitable.

Now back to keywords. The number one target market in this industry, just like anything else, remember I was talking about mortgages and the mortgage industry, if they could get people in the target market, they would do great. Here, it's the same thing, who is your target market. The number one target market is other people in this industry. Why? Because they've already been pre-sold, if they have been in this industry they have bought a product in this industry, they have bought a course, they have been in an opportunity or something of the sort, they have been pre-sold in this industry an they want to work from home.

You don't have to sell them about the home based business industry, they have already been in it. Why spend time, you know, if you are marketing toward keywords like make money online, get my home based business, marketing online or things of that sort, usually the people that are looking up under those keywords in the search engines, or any other advertising that you are doing to target market that keyword, usually they have not been in this industry. So in your sales process you first have to convince them that they need to join this type of industry, this type of thing to get their own home based business. Whereas me, if I am targeting where I am target marketing, the people in this industry, I don't have to convince them of that, that part of the sales process is done before I have even got them to op-in to my page. It brings up your sales conversion rate.

Now you can see why if you do get into that target market right there that is too general, you might have some success, but you will not have as much success as you do as with very targeted marketing. So you need to target people in this industry. I hear this all the time, George, is it going to become saturated? No. There are millions and millions of people in the world, and the 1 ups, 2 ups, cash programs, courses in this industry, products in this industry, systems in this industry, marketing systems, sales centers, mlm programs in this industry, there are millions and millions of people across the world, so it'll never be saturated.

While no one should eat an unlimited amount of fat, a certain amount of fat is required for the absorption of certain nutrients. I would highly recommmed that people try to reduce the amount of unhealthy fats such as saturated fats and in turn ensure they consume more healthy fats such as monounsaturated fats.

    What are monounsaturated fats?

These are commonly referred to as the healthy fats. These fats have been shown to have a benefit against heart disease and may assist in lowering cholesterol. Monounsaturated fats are also thought to ward off different types of cancers such as breast cancer and colon cancer. They are typically high in Vitamin E. A really good source would be olive oil, Canola (rapeseed) oil, avocados, almonds, and also peanuts. The best source, I believe, is cold pressed olive oil. It is best kept in a cool and dark place to ensure it doesn't go rancid. You'll notice that although a lot of margarines coming out state that they are not hydrogenated, although they maintain a certain solid consitency at room temperature. I think this is a good reason to avoid them because there certainly is a certain amount of chemical manipulation going on in order to ensure they remain solid.

You should also consider Omega -3 fatty acids!

Omega-3 fatty acids are a form of polyunsaturated fats, one of four basic types of fat that the body derives from food. (Cholesterol, saturated fat, and monounsaturated fat are the others.) All polyunsaturated fats, including the omega-3s, are increasingly recognized as important to human health. According to the American Heart Association, research has shown that these fats can reduce the risk of Cardiovascular disease by decreased risk of arrhythmias, which can lead to sudden cardiac death; decrease triglyceride levels; decrease growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque; lower blood pressure (slightly)

Scientists made one of the first associations between omega-3s and human health while studying the Inuit (Eskimo) people of Greenland in the 1970s. As a group, the Inuit suffered far less from certain diseases (coronary heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus, psoriasis) than their European counterparts. Yet their diet was very high in fat from eating whale, seal, and salmon. Eventually researchers realized that these foods were all rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which provided real disease-countering benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids are also natural blood thinners, reducing the "stickiness" of blood cells (called platelet aggregation), which can lead to such complications as blood clots and stroke.

So with all that said, I'm sure you can appreciate that you can consume certain type of fat and fatty acids without feeling guilty. Now you know what type of fat to look for.

The brain is a fascinating and complex unit of our anatomy. The brain is responsible for so many things. It stores our short term and long term memories. The ability to learn is from our brain as well. Our emotions and triggers are stored in our brain. The brain is a source of information on everything we do and about who we are.

The anatomy of the brain shows us just how complex it truly is. There is so much about the brain science and the medical field have not yet uncovered. However, there is a great deal we have learned about the brain by studying the physical features of it. We have also learned from the neurological aspects of the brain. We have the ability to perform brain surgery and remove tumors as well as install plates for those who have neurological damage. This is a fascinating area of science and medicine that can be overwhelming to learn about in detail.

There are six main areas of the brain to learn about. The parietal lobe helps us understand written language as well as communicate with others. Our sensory cortex is located here, controlling the sensations we get with touching and amounts of pressure. This is also an area of judgment for size, weight and distance.

The occipital lobe is located at the rear of the brain. This is where visual information is processed. It helps use to recognize shapes and colors. The cerebellum helps us with coordination including balance and muscle movement that help you walk, talk, eat, and routine tasks involved in caring for ourselves.

The brainstem is a very important part of the brain. It is connected to the spinal cord. This portion of the brain helps with required body functions including breathing, digesting, the regulation of the heart rate, blood pressure, and being alert while awake.

The temporal lobe is how we smell. This is surprising information for most of us who think only the nose is responsible for our sense of smell. This region is also used for short term memory processing.

The frontal lobe is a very important portion of the brain. It is responsible for planning, organizing, problem solving, paying attention to details, behavior, and emotions. This is the area of our brain we use the most in our daily routines and decisions.

Since the brain performs so many features, it is obvious why a brain injury can be so serious. It can result in death if areas such as the brainstem are affected. Brain injuries can affect how other areas of the body are able to function. Ironically, we only use about 10% of our brain!

You definitely should consider drinking red wine if you drink alcohol. Considering the health benefits of red wine and how enjoyable the experience can be, I think that red wine is the logical choice for the drinker.

Let us begin by looking at the health benefits of red wine. To understand these benefits requires a short explanation: Red wines are a rich source of biologically active compounds known as phytochemicals, which are chemicals found in plants. In particular, phytochemicals called polyphenols are found in red wine. Two polyphenols in red wine are catechins and resveratrol, both of which are antioxidants. Antioxidants are any substance that reduces oxidative damage (damage due to oxygen such as that caused by free radicals). Free radicals are highly reactive chemicals that attack molecules by capturing electrons and thus modifying chemical structures. Resveratrol not only provides antioxidant protection from free-radical damage, but it helps to protect LDL cholesterol against oxidation, promotes optimal cardiovascular health, supports and supports healthy aging and normal cell growth. Catechin, on the other hand, appears to play an important role in reducing the risk of heart disease. Another antioxidant called Saponin, is also found in red wine and it also may offer protective benefits for the heart and is easily absorbed by the body.

Antioxidants may possibly reduce the risks of cancer and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Antioxidants clearly slow the progression of AMD. Please note the benefits of antioxidants listed here should not be considered an exhaustive list. There are many additional benefits that have been linked with antioxidants: I really introduce some here so that you get a sense of the benefits of these substances.

Additionally a fairly recent study has correlated moderate consumption of red wine with balanced blood sugar. This is certainly a noteworthy correlation.

Let me conclude with a caveat: While drinking red wine can indeed benefit your health, only responsible drinking can do so. Excessive drinking can of course have very negative ramifications. On the other hand, moderate consumption can become an enjoyable hobby that allows you to really experience a variety of red wines and the amazing flavours that red wine has to offer. There are thousands of different red wines out there (well more like hundreds of thousands); which in turn means there is an abundance of flavours out there – for you to enjoy and at the same time benefit your health. Once you develop more of a palate for red wines, you will subsequently improve your ability to distinguish between the various aspects of wine. Once you begin to drink red wine, you should get yourself a beginner's guide to wine and should consider taking some courses on wine. That way you can have a really enjoyable hobby and it can be quite fun to learn the dialect and really experience the nuances of distinction. Before I conclude, let's look at what moderate consumption of red wine means: One to two glasses a day for men and one glass a day for women. Also note that abstaining from drinking red wine throughout the week and then drinking these amounts on the weekend does not constitute moderate intake; that would be unhealthy.

You need to ensure that what you are experiencing is a migraine so that you can properly treat it. Some people often confuse migraine headaches with cluster headaches or tension headaches. What you will see is that these headache types are quite distinct. Treatment will vary depending on the type of headache.

Migraines are severe, throbbing headaches and may or may not be accompanied by nausea, visual disturbances, or other symptoms. It's estimated that over 10% of the population in the United States suffers from migraine headaches. More women suffer from migraine headaches than men. Migraines are among the most serious classification of headache.

Research suggests that migraines are vascular headaches caused by excessive dilation or contraction of the brain's blood vessels. Research also suggests that in women, migraines may be linked to fluctuations in hormone levels. Migraines may occur weekly or only several times a year. There is some evidence that may suggest migraines have a genetic component.

Not all painful headaches are migraines. Migraines have certain distinct features distinguishing them from other types of headaches. Look at the below characteristics to see of you have a true migraine or one of the two types most commonly confused with migraines: tension headaches and cluster headaches.

Migraine headaches can last anywhere from four to 72 hours, can involve one or both sides of the head, usually are quite painful. Migraines are typically accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light, sound or smells.

Cluster Headaches can last anywhere from thirty to 90 minutes, are on one side of the head and very painful (more painful than migraines)

Tension Headaches can last anywhere from two hours to days, occur on both sides of the head and involve a mild or moderate pain.

If you suspect that you are getting a migraine headache, you should make an appointment with your doctor. He or she can then refer you onto a specialist, a neurologist.

More and more anorexia sufferers are appearing each day. Should we blame ourselves for creating a society in which anorexia seems necessary for a young person? When a teen begins to suffer from anorexia nervosa, it is never just a quick onset but rather there are always conditions that lead the anorexia sufferer to believe he/she can't be good enough, which ultimately leads to anorexia. These conditions come from every single aspect of the sufferer's life.

The main cause cited for anorexia among teens is the media. Many media images portray individuals as being extremely thin. This image is very prevalent in the media, and may create the delusion in young people that this is how they were meant to be. Lots of people are naturally heavier during their younger years. When an anorexia sufferer looks at his or herself in the mirror and compares this image with the magazines and TV ads that they are constantly bombarded with, it can seem like there is a huge discrepancy. This makes it harder for anorexia sufferers to feel good about their self-image.

Although the perfect image created by society is not really what a person should look like, this always needs to be made clear to anorexia sufferers. Models in magazines are usually modified by computer programs, and they (the models) don't even look like their pictures in the magazine. It is a very unfortunate double-sided standard that society had drawn up which is endangering the health of young people in the form of eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Many anorexia sufferers can also be affected by their peers. At a young age teens can be extremely cruel in their teasing. A few insults expressed by another teenager could leave the other teen completely crushed, particularly the anorexia sufferer, focusing on the negative comment. It is unfortunate that teens can be affected so much by the thoughts or comments of a peer, but it is a fact. It is critical that everyone in the anorexia sufferer's life be supportive, not just family, but peers as well.

An anorexia sufferer needs to get help as quickly as possible. This means that if someone suspects anorexia he or she should immediately arrange an appointment with a mental health professional. In particular the anorexia sufferer should attempt to find a professional who deals with anorexia and in particular uses Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is thought to be the most effective treatment for anorexia.

Vintage Computer Add-in cards come in three basic flavors: 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit. These terms refer to the number of data bits the card sends out at one time. Ideally a 16-bit video card sends an image to the monitor in half the time it would take for an 8-bit version. It is important to know what kind of card your vintage computer accepts. The older PCs and XTs usually have an 8-bit or PC bus, which accepts the older PC bus, which accepts only the 8-bit cards. Vintage computers which are of more recent vintage use a PCI bus combined with ISA (Industry Standard Architecture).

The ISA bus was basically the original AT vintage computer bus. This expansion bus originated with the IBM PC at an 8-bit bandwidth. IBM improved on the design with the PC/AT raising the bandwidth to the 16-bit standard.

In addition to the ISA bus, there is typically an auxiliary bus such as the VL-bus or the even more recent and now accepted standard the PCI bus both were designed for video cards so that they could operate at faster speeds. The PCI bus as we know went on to become the industry standard all purpose bus. Another bus called EISA was going to become the industry standard but instead went on to have a life almost exclusively in the server realm.

What was the basis of the development of the PCI bus? When the Pentium chip was released Intel saw the need for a more general purpose local bus that would eventually supplant the ISA/EISA and VL-bus designs completely. So Intel invented the Personal Computer Interconnect bus now more commonly without the comprehension of the historical background – the PCI bus.

An important point to remember is that the EISA is backward compatible with 8-bit cards (8 bit cards fit into EISAand EISA slots) but MCA will not work with either of the other two standards. (Backward compatible means that the device works with all previous hardware technology, but will not necessarily work with newer configuration standards). In other words cards for an EISA bus computer the cards from an ISA bus computer will work in the EISA vintage computer. However if you try to use these cards in a newer IBM you are out of luck if you want to use your older cards.

Many video cards manufactured later were available in AT-ISA, PCI and VL bus. What would be considered newer more recent vintage computers were equipped with either a couple of VL slots and / or some PCI slots? If the vintage computer supports PCI bus this is a wise choice for performance and should be utilized if at all possible.

Vintage computer add-in cards can also be described in terms of length – ½ length, ¾ length and full size cards. This along with less common XT height refers to the physical size of the cards. However the terms were rather arbitrary and there were no actual industry standards.

Basically what happened over the next time period for vintage computers there was a mixture of both the ISA and PCI buses on vintage computer motherboards until at some point the ISA standard eventually disappeared from view.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

As fall approaches and the days become shorter its harvest season on the farm all over again. One can never play too safe on the farm. Be more than sure to keep yourself, your family and those who both visit with your on your farmstead and admire your fields are or workers along with you to be "farm safe" during the busy harvesting seasons.

What rules, policies and procedures should be followed in order to maintain safety on the farm – whether it is a large operation or a smaller family homestead?

First of all take the time to tour your farmyard and identify and all possible electrical safety danger areas and even areas that could be of concern in regards to safety matters.

The first and foremost rule always to be followed and adhered to is that machinery must be able to freely pass under all power lines both in the farmyard and adjacent work areas. Watch out that machinery can clear both these power lines and near field entrances and road ways with more than plenty of room to spare. You can never be too sure. If you are not 100 % fully satisfied with the clearance and safety then promptly plan for another alternate route. Ensure that these directions are specified and explained to all farm hands and workers.

Next make it a point that during the harvesting period to have all machinery such as grain augers and truck boxes to be lowered before passing under any power lines.

If equipment is going to, or has to be moved during the course of the day's work then this equipment should always be moved slowly and carefully. Constantly check in these situations to be 100 % sure that these clearances to overhead power lines are maintained.

All it takes is for one minor mistake to be a major tragic accident. Along with these polices and rules ensure that no one is allowed to ride on top of moving farm equipment or hay bales.

If the situation or situations arise where overhead power lines do present an ongoing and constant danger and hazard then consult with your lower power authorities or utility to have these conduits placed or relocated underground to avoid any contact with vehicles in the yard and prevent possible mishaps. Similarly if there are hay bales and haystacks these should be placed and located a good distance away from power lines.

A recommended minimum distance is 30 feet away from these electrical lines.

In the same way if any new buildings or structures are planned – whether temporary in nature for the season or for a short time span or buildings meant to be of a more permanent nature – then again the planning should involve them being placed a good distance away from any of the electrical power lines that avail. In a similar vein if any of these buildings are structures are near or do abut near power lines instruct all staff on safety policies and procedures to ensure that any work done – with equipment – whether vehicular in nature – such as moving trucks or farm implements, or using structures such as ladders that electrical safety measures and procedures always be implemented to the greatest measure.

The importance of safety on the farm during the fall harvest season can not be overly emphasized especially in regards to power lines and electricity. A mistake can happen in a split second or a flash and can have tragic results. Always play it safe around electrical power on the farm all throughout the year – not only during the fall harvest season.

Teens are the most conscious among all age groups when it comes to physical appearance, specifically, body weight and figure. The reason for this is mostly due to how the society defines "beautiful" and "sexy". Hollywood celebrities, like Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears, are all exhibiting very lean body tone, which most teens follow.

Since being really slim has become a trend, there comes a growing concern related to teen weight loss. Most of the time, because of peer pressure, influence and embarrassment, many teenagers resolve to starving themselves simply to quickly lose weight. This method is not good for a teen's health since it can bring about negative effects to them or can even cause them serious diseases such as bulimia and anorexia.

How can parents help their teens lose weight? Teen weight loss should not be seen as a problem, unless of course, if the teen daughter or son gradually loses weight after missing important meals. As parents, you should be able to guide them to do things the right way.

The first thing that you should do is to make an assessment whether or not your teen needs weight loss. Have your son or your daughter checked by your trusted physician to know if losing weight is necessary. Should there be a need for your teen to lose weight, it is better if you go to a nutritionist to make sure that he or she gets the safe and healthy weight loss program. However, this is not really required. All you have to do is serve a well-balanced meal.

There is really no need to cut down on meat intake since teens are physical active. They can always burn calories with the various activities they engage themselves into. It is important that they follow a high fiber diet to help with the proper digestion of food. At the same time, fibers, especially non-soluble fibers, help to keep them away from eating more than they should.

Encourage your teens to be patient and discourage them from starving themselves. Starving oneself will only make things worse as it slows down metabolism. Once his metabolism slows down, he will just keep regaining the weight he loses by skipping important meals. Eating discipline and regular exercise can be very helpful to maintain a well-proportioned body. Losing weight takes time. It can happen in an instant but the result would not be permanent and at the same time can be very dangerous. Therefore, it is much better to just take the conventional and proven process.

Drinking plenty of water, especially first thing in the morning, can help in teen weight loss. So, you should also encourage your teen to make it a habit to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. In fact, the more glasses they drink in a day, the more the result will be rewarding. Water therapy is so far the most safe and healthy way of losing some pounds.

Remind your teen that losing weight is a process. It is better to do it the proper way than regret later.

For people who want to lose weight fast, here is another option which might truly help without too much hassle – The Cabbage Soup Diet. Like what the name suggest, the diet is based on a strict cabbage soup diet in a span of one week. In this program, individuals are encouraged to consume as much Cabbage soup as they can, as if equivalent to a meal, and drink plenty of water. Other foods are allowed but should be eaten in moderation. There are also foods that are completely not allowed in the diet. Having said this, the Cabbage Soup Diet requires very strict discipline to be able to reach the weight goal.

Although high consumption of cabbage soup is recommended, it is not advised that individuals will only eat cabbage soup as this is not healthy and might cause undernourishment. However, anyone undergoing this diet plan should carefully choose low calorie food to support fast weight loss. An individual can add any fruit (as much as possible not banana) with the cabbage soup. Vegetables, naturally, can also be eaten along with the diet. Lean meat and fish is also allowed but in moderation. If one should crave for rice, the rice has to be brown rice.

The Cabbage Soup Diet seems to be easy to follow. However, it has received too many criticisms since the diet shows to be unhealthy. The fact that it is a short term diet solution, it does not guarantee a permanent result. Maybe, the only advantage is that an individual will learn to eat in control as the stomach will become accustomed to taking in just the right amount of food each meal. Yes, it is just a 7-day plan so one can just put up with eating the soup, but it takes a very determined person to be able to survive the monotonous routine of eating the same thing over and over on a daily basis.

The only good thing about this diet plan is that one does not need to spend so much for losing weight compared to other diet programs available wherein you will have to spend for special menus and consultations. The diet is also very easy to follow since all you have to do is gobble lots of cabbage soup and drink at least 8 glasses of water to keep yourself stuffed. No counting of calories, no special instruction; just follow the seven day cabbage soup diet religiously. Another advantage is that you can get rid of junk foods especially during snacks as cabbage soup is a perfect nibble.

There is certainly no need to work out doing this program since; you are not taking in too much, anyway. In addition, your calorie intake is low; you are surely bound to lose significant weight in a very short span of time. The Cabbage Soup can be the best option for those who wish to quickly lose pounds. Just firmly follow the diet and by the end of the week, you will see a noteworthy result.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

It is estimated that 1 in 5 women will develop hypothyroidism; which is an under active thyroid at some point in their lives. The most disconcerting fact is millions of women have some degree of thyroid hormone deficiency and are not even aware that they have the disorder. There are two main reasons for this occurrence. First of all the symptoms can vary greatly for each individual and are therefore misdiagnosed by many doctors. The other reason is that many women refuse to seek help in the first place and do not associate the symptoms they are experiencing as a medical problem.

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient thyroid hormone. Simplified, the thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped gland found in the neck which pumps out hormones that impact how smoothly and efficiently your body can run when converting calories to energy. The main purpose of the thyroid gland ultimately is to run the body's metabolism.

There are several symptoms which are associated with hypothyroidism however diagnoses can be difficult because you may not experience all of the symptoms or many may be very subtle and hard to detect. That being said, the list of symptoms is as follows:

    - fatigue, loss of energy

    - weakness

    - weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight

    - dry hair or skin

    - cold intolerance, can seem to stay warm

    - muscle or joint pain

    - depression or loss of interest

    - mood swings

    - forgetfulness

    - abnormal menstrual cycles, difficulty getting pregnant

    - decreased libido

    - constipation, irregularity

Doctors typically use a blood test to help determine whether or not a thyroid diagnosis is warranted. This test measures the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the body, a level of 10 or more indicates hypothyroidism. Unfortunately a large percentage of individuals fall into a gray area known as sub clinical hypothyroidism with levels between 3 and 10 and many doctors will not provide treatment because many believe that medications may lead to hyperthyroidism which also has its own set of issues. If this is the case then get a second opinion or contact an endocrinologist who specializes in this area.

Another indicator for seeking a TSH blood test is family history. If you have a family history with autoimmune disorders such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or multiple sclerosis than do not over look your symptoms. Linked to this fact is also grey hair, if they started to appear, even a couple before the age of 30 it would be wise to seek out more information.

You should contact your doctor if you have any combination of these symptoms especially if they persist for more than two months. Do not assume for instance that you are tired and moody due solely to your busy life style because it is estimated that approximately 13 million cases can undetected each year. Many women assume that their lifestyle is the only contributing factor to how they are feeling and this is not always the case. Pay attention to what your body is telling you and be proactive in getting the care that you need.

It can not be disputed that acne is by far the number one skin issue plaguing teenagers. However is the bigger problem is many believe that is something that merely a part of puberty and must be waited out, this is not the case. Acne is a recognized medical condition and has very real side effects including permanent scarring of the skin and emotional pain and low self esteem. Teenagers are indeed faced with raging hormones but the embarrassment and grief of acne is unnecessary because it can be effectively treated.

French fries, greasy burgers, and chocolate are often blamed for the cause of acne, this however is not true. The fact is, no scientific connection has been made between diet and acne. A balanced healthy diet is always beneficial, and if you personally find that staying away from certain foods helps your complexion then by all means do so. The improvements of blemishes due to diet changes are more likely in conjunction with food allergies.

Oil is indeed a contributor to the appearance of acne but it is from environmental sources not dietary. There are many day to day skin care tips that can help reduce acne blemishes but consistency is the key. One of the easiest and most over looked skin care practices by all ages is simply washing your face. A large number of individuals wash their faces in the morning while preparing for the day, however surprisingly few wash their faces before bed. Washing your face with a gentle acne treatment cleanser morning and night will help to eliminate the excess surface oils and dead skin cells. Always remember that scrubbing harder doesn't make you cleaner it just causes damage to the skin.

Teen skin care is so important because of the increase in oils that are produced during the teen years. That oil mixed with the makeup that most girls pile on makes for a bad combination therefore it is recommended then when shopping for a foundation choose products that are noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. Non-acnegenic means it does not cause or promote acne and non-comedogenic means it does not cause or promote comedones (blackheads). Although makeup is extremely important for many teenage girls giving your face a break with possible is always a good idea, if it is once a week when you are hiding out at home.

Another thing to do which can be a bad habit to break for not only those worried about teen skin care, but adults too, is to keep your hands away of your face. Even though we may not realize it, we endlessly transfer oils and bacteria from our environment to our faces. To help keep oils away from your face, shampoo your hair regularly and daily if possible. Hair rubs constantly against your face both during the day and at night.

Teenage acne treatments can be very drying to the facial skin so when choosing a moisturizer look for non pore clogging. Again it is important to choose products that contain the words noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic in their labels. Moisturize the areas of your face that require a little help but avoid it on the oily surfaces.

Many over the counter products are available specifically for teenage skin care. Be consistent and give the products a couple of weeks to work. It is important to note that in many cases there is an increase of breakouts at the beginning of a new skin care regime but this will level out and improvements will been seem. If after a few weeks there is no improvement seek the help of a doctor or dermatologist, because acne is a medical issue.

Everyone has their own ideas about what is best for their baby which is one of the reasons the new organic trend is now being seen with baby skin care products. A growing number of individuals believe natural products are vital for a healthy happy baby and that natural is the only way to go. There are definite benefits to using natural or organic products which are made from ingredients that come straight from the earth including plants and oils. No chemicals are used and the products are prepared and preserved with altering the natural integrity of the ingredients.

Plants have for years been used by naturalists as well as mainstream medicine for their beneficial properties. Each plant produces oil that can be extracted and used to improve our bodies and minds. A few of the ingredients found in organic are as follows:

    1. Chamomile is known to be a natural anti-allergen, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic therefore it is effective for healing and soothing the skin. Certain varieties are also known to have a calming effect.

    2. Lavender is world renowned for its healing properties, in particular its ability to promote cell regeneration. It is also a powerful antiseptic, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Lavender when inhaled is also known to calm and promote restful sleeps.

    3. Calendula, know to most as the marigold is a potent anti-bacterial, anti-viral and an anti-inflammatory, it is very efficient in treatment of cuts, abrasions and diaper rashes.

    4. Jojoba which is said to be very similar to the skin's naturally produced sebum is an excellent lubricant, moisturizer, and skin protectant.

    5. Aloe Vera is widely recognized for its healing properties because of its ability to accelerate cell growth and pain relieving properties. Aloe Vera is also absorbed by the skin four times faster than water so it is beneficial as a carrier ingredient.

A baby's skin is very delicate which makes organic skin care products a desirable choice for many because they do not contain chemicals and therefore a skin reaction is less likely. Mainstream products use surfactants to essentially produce the foaming action however surfactants are also proven to be skin irritants. Skin reactions can cause a burning, itching, or rash and can also progress into a skin infection if an irritant is used over a prolonged period. If you suspect this is the case see your Doctor or health nurse for assistance.

The variety and selection of organic skin care products has exploded in recent years. A few of these products include shampoo, lotion, soaps and body wash, diaper rash treatment, laundry detergent, and teething medication. Ultimately any product that touches your baby's skin can be found in the organic baby skin care section.

Not everyone will buy organic skin care products for there newborn this is all a personal choice. The main goal however remains the same and that is to purchasing skin care products which are free of harsh ingredients including perfumes and alcohols. Always seek out the blandest and gentlest products that you can find because their skin is five times as thin and the harsh chemicals found in products aimed at adults can cause severe irritation.

Difference Between an IRA and a CD

We all want to enjoy our retirement, but few of us know how to save. There's a lot of technical jargon involved, but the basic concept is simple enough. Differentiating between an IRA and a CD is delicate business, as they are both very much alike. Let us first examine IRAs. There are two types of IRAs, a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA, and the difference between the two is critical.

A traditional IRA (Individual Retirement Account) allows a person to save up for their retirement in a way that's temporarily tax free. If you put money into a traditional IRA it will be deducted from your yearly income, which means the amount won't be subject to taxation. If you are age fifty or over, you can contribute up to four thousand dollars a year into a traditional IRA.

If you withdraw your money from a traditional IRA before you are sixty, you'll get hit with a ten percent penalty. Keep in mind that, regardless of when you decide to take the money out of your traditional IRA, once it's out it's taxable. Occasionally the ten percent fee for early withdrawal is lifted if you're using the money for educational purposes or buying a house.

The second type is called a Roth IRA, named after the Senator William Roth. One big advantage of a Roth IRA is that you can take out your direct contribution (the money you put in minus any profits) tax free whenever the urge strikes you, and you can collect the profits tax free after five years. The disadvantage is that Roth IRAs are not tax deductible, and the money won't be subtracted from your yearly income.

Another disadvantage of choosing a Roth IRA applies to wealthy individuals. Possibly because the Roth IRA was created to lend a helping hand to middle class Americans, there is an income limit that you can't exceed. If you make over one hundred and five thousand dollars per year, a Roth IRA is not for you. For joint filers the limit is one hundred and sixty six thousand dollars.

A CD (Certificate of Deposit) is a way to invest money that is insured by the banks. A CD is viewed as a safe and steady way to make money, as it generates more profit than a savings account but less than some risky investments. The best part about CDs is that they are mostly risk free, but it's important to note that there are strict penalties for withdrawing the cash before the term ends.

Whether it's in a CD, IRA, or a 401k (where your employer contributes money to match your own), you should be putting away at least ten percent of your yearly income for retirement. Saving for retirement is the most important thing a young person can do. We work hard in the hopes that we can enjoy our golden years in financial security, but the only way that's going to happen is if we start now.

What Are the Top Training Mistakes Most Dog Owners Make?

Dog owners tend to train their dogs incorrectly because they fail to realize that dogs are very social creatures that depend on their human friends to direct their behavior. As a result, many dog owners make several training mistakes that make it more difficult to train their dogs properly.

Here are some of the top training mistakes that most dog owners make that demonstrate this point.

--Many dog owners train their dogs inconsistently.

Many dog owners have trouble asking their dogs to do things the same way each time. This inconsistency can make it difficult to effectively train a dog because it makes it almost impossible for the dog to understand want their humans want them to do. As a result, most dog owners who are inconsistent with their behavior expectations tend to have trouble teaching their dogs to do things such as sitting down in appropriate places and using the bathroom outside instead of on the floor.

--Many owners also tend to give their dogs too much grief for doing things wrong and not enough praise when they do something right.

Many owners tend to overly punish their dogs when they do something wrong and under- appreciate the things that they do right. This can make it difficult to train a dog because dogs need positive reinforcement to learn how to do things we'd like them to do.

As a result, most dog owners that only see the negative things their pets do tend to have trouble teaching their dogs basic social skills because they end up only reinforcing negative behavior by consistently "awarding" it with attention. This demonstrates to the dog that the bad stuff he's doing will get him the most attention. When this happens, socializing the dog becomes almost impossible.

--Another mistake dog owners tend to make is that they tend to start advanced training way too early.

Many owners can't wait to start training their puppies the things they need to properly socialize them. This impatience can get owners into a lot of trouble because most puppies aren't physically or mentally ready to learn to do things such as walking on a leash or staying in one place.

As a result, owners who try to hurry things along are doing the same thing over-eager parents would do if they try to teach their 3 year old how to drive a car. Would you do that to your 3 year old? Of course not! The same reasoning should apply to socializing your puppies. Let them have their fun till they are about 4-6 months old. This will give them enough time to develop the physical and mental maturity that need to properly socialize them.

--Finally, dog owners tend to also offer too many treats to their dogs while training them.

Giving your dog a jerky snap or a doggie bone is a great way to reward good behavior. However, over-feeding your dog these delicious treats can make it hard to properly train your dog because it teaches your dog that the only time to behave properly is when Mommy or Daddy gives him a treat. This makes it important to use treats only occasionally to teach the dog he needs to behave himself all of the time. When you do this, it makes it much more fun to train your dog because he then knows that he can look forward to a treat while behaving himself at the same time!

Are you thinking of getting a new pet? Have you ever considered pet adoption? Adopting a pet is a wonderful option for adding a canine friend into the family. Here are 5 simple reasons why you should choose pet adoption:

    1. You'll save a life

Saving a life just may be one of the most rewarding actions in a person's life. Some pet shelters have to put down animals if they do not get adopted. If you choose to adopt a pet from an animal shelter or animal adoption agency, you are not only saving a precious animal's life, you are also greatly increasing its quality of life.

    2. You'll save money

When you adopt a pet, you are actually saving a lot of money. Animals that have been placed in shelters or taken to animal adoption agencies are almost always spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Those preliminary, but necessary procedures add up when all is said and done. Also, it is relatively inexpensive to adopt a pet from an agency or shelter in comparison to purchasing dogs or cats from a local pet store.

    3. You'll receive a healthy pet

As was mentioned above, pets from shelters and adoption agencies are almost always spayed or neutered, and have received their vaccinations as well. This ensures the health and happiness of your future pet. Also, in contradiction to popular belief, many pets who have been placed in shelters have not been mistreated or "done something wrong." Many pets have been taken there because of people problems, such as divorce, a big move, or they are simply too busy to adequately provide care for a pet.

    4. You won't be supporting puppy mills

Many pets that are sold in pet stores or newspaper ads sometimes come from puppy mills. Puppy mills are mass dog-breeding businesses that are harmful to the health of their bred puppies. These facilities sometimes house up to several hundred dogs at a time, thus compromising the health and well-being of a precious puppy. By adopting a pet from a shelter or a pet adoption agency, you are not supporting these often inhumane businesses.

    5. You'll have a large selection

Because pet adoption agencies and animal shelters have many pets, there is a wide selection for you to choose from. To make pet shopping easier on potential parents, many pet agencies and shelters have websites that allow people to search for possible pets by their age, sex, size, and breed. This enables families to search from the comfort of their own homes; the hassle of going to noisy and overwhelming shelters and agencies is eliminated.

The satisfaction you will acquire when you adopt a pet is like no other; you will have received a healthy pet, you will save money, you will be supporting a healthy and just cause, you will get the perfect pet for your family, and you will have saved a life. Adopting a pet has lifelong benefits that you will not regret. Give these animals a second chance by allowing them to join your loving family.

If you are home buyer looking for a home inspector its crucial that you have someone upon whose expertise you can rely. This is the person who is going to inspect your potential new home and determine if the foundation is sound, if the roof is in good shape, if the electrical system is in good working order and if the heating and air conditioning systems are safe.

One way to tell if your home inspector is reliable, knowledgeable, experienced and reputable is to look for someone certified, with an affiliation with a recognized home inspector association. One such is the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors NACHI.

A home inspector who is licensed only indicates that she or he has fulfilled the minimum requirements to conduct home inspections. In many states there is no licensing requirement for home inspectors. NACHI has strict membership requirements and prides itself on the fact that fewer than half of the home inspector NACHI applicants are accepted. The others either dont pass the organizations rigorous certified home inspector exam or in other ways dont fulfil the requirements for membership.

Home inspectors who belong to NACHI have passed the online home inspector exam each year with a score of at least 80 out of 100. They must also pass an online course called Ethics Obstacles Course. They must take and pass an online quiz on home inspector standards of practice and sign an affidavit that they will behave honourably in their practice of their professional.

No home inspector can become a NACHI member without a commitment to adhere to the NACHI standards of home inspection practice and promise to abide by the associations code of ethics. 24 hours each year must be spent in continuing education in home inspection to maintain NACHI membership.

Should a new home inspector wish to join NACHI – one who has not conducted an actual live home inspection – she or he must submit four mock home inspections for the perusal of the organizations review committee before they are allowed to perform their first real home inspection for a client.

Within 10 days of being accepted a NACHI member, the home inspector must log onto the organizations message board, and within 30 days he or she must complete the two free online courses on standards of practice and home structure. Within the first 45 days the home inspector must complete the comprehensive electrical course found on the NACHI site, and must take and pass each course quiz. By the end of 60 days the new member has to have taken the free roofing course and passed the online quiz about it. A free membership photo ID must be in her or his possession within three months of membership initiation, and each year the member has to take the online inspector examination again and earn a passing grade.

Eight hours of advanced level coursework on home inspector practice standards must be completed within two years of joining NACHI, and each member must attend a minimum of one educational seminar or NACHI chapter meeting every two years.
