One definition of adoption is assuming permanent responsibilty and parenthood of a minor, not related to you by blood, through a valid legal process. There quite a few varying categories of adoptions.

The first category is distinguishable by the age related terminology used for the developmental stages from infant to adult.

    1. INFANT: adoption takes place prior to, or directly at birth or somtime within the toddler years.

    2. WAITING-CHILD: pertains to adopting toddler aged children.

    3. OLDER-CHILD: involves children over the age of 2.

    4. ADULT: the final stage of "age-related" adoptions. Comprises of one adult adoptig another adult not related by either blood or marriage. Such as a young adult adopting an older adult, age 65 or older.

Another category consists of adoptions occurring within a famiy related by blood or marriage.

    1. RELATED CHILD: the child is adopted by someone within their family, such as, but not limited to, an Aunt, Uncle, or Grandparent.

    2. STEP CHILD: after a lengthy legal process involving the Termination of Parental Rights of the absent or non-custodial biological parent, the step parent adopts the step child.

The next category, generally labeled as foreign adoption,

    1. MILITARY or OVERSEAS: involves a child or children being adopted by a member of the military overseas.

    2. INTERNATIONAL: a couple chosen has chosen to adopt a child native to another country.

Two other more frequently occurring types of adoptions are,

    1. SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD: the adoption of children with above average medical, mental, etc. needs.

    2. FOSTER CHILD: the placement of a child with adults, both educated and qualified to care for the child.

    Financial Facts About Adoption.

The financial aspect of adoption is inflenced by a couple of factors. The expense could vary from nothing to being extremely costly, which would rely heavily on the specifications of the contract drawn up between the adoption agency and the adoptive couple. Another factor to consider is which category your adoption will be defined in. For instance if you have chosen INTERNATIONAL, this type is relatively costly, as well as lengthy in procedure. For more info see http://www.childadoptionguide.org/Adoption_Photo_Listing.html on adoption photo.

Six Steps To Finalizing the Adoption

By understanding beforehand that the procedure for adopting a child can be emotionally taxing as well as span over the time of 30 days to possibly 2 years to finalize, helps the adoptive parents better understand the system.

    1. The first 4 to 12 weeks are an excellent time to educate yourselves about the adoption process. Read, seek out groups offering information sessions, and use the web.

    2. The 12 to 24 week period is the time for a tentative decision on which category you're interested in. Keep in mind your and the childs background.

    3. The 24 to 36 weeks period brings you a finish to the homestudy as a requirement for certifying you as a competent adoptive parent.

    4. 36 weeks to 1 year is the time should receive information of either a local or international child. This is the time for a medical review of the child if he or she is foreign, or assuming responsibilities for the biological mothers medical expenditures in relation to the pregnancy.

    5. 1 to 2 years The child is placed in your home. Adoption support groups may help you learn to connect with your new child.

    6. 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years The final stage, consisting of reports of the child and its ease of settling into the new home. An attorney may be needed to legally finalize the adoption.

Article Title: Lightweight Hunting Rifle? Bah Humbug, What's The Point?

Many hunters have dreamed about a lightweight deer rifle that can shoot prey at a distance of over 400 yards, however is this really possible? It sounds like such a perfect idea, so why isn't it?

Well quite simply you should never need to shoot deer from 400 yards away because you need to be accurate. When hunting deer, you need to get all of your shots within one six-inch target. You can find out the maximum distance you can shoot deer by practicing shooting at a six inch bulls eye target at different distances, start at 100 yards then try 200 and 300 yards. You can also try sitting and standing when taking that shot.

When standing many deer hunters discover that they cannot really hunt deer from over 100 yards away, when sitting most can manage 200 yards at a push. You need to be 100% accurate, you cannot afford to wound a deer. Make sure that 100% of your practice shots hit the bullseye.

Using a 6" target as opposed to the normal 8" is advisable because it represents the small size of the animal's vital organs. There are also a number of variables all of which can be changing making things much more difficult. You will be shooting at animals you haven't had time to study before hand, they camouflage themselves with the background which makes it very difficult if not impossible to see them! Have a practice and then you decide if you really need a hunting rifle that can shoot over 400 yards. For more info see http://www.deerelkhunting.com/elkhunting/How-to-Find-Great-Guided-Elk-Hunts.html on guided elk hunt

For shooting deer further than 200 yards away the cartridges should have a flat trajectory so that their shots are kept within the 6 inch target.

I like to use the standard calibers from 6mm (.24) to 7mm (.28), as these normally work at closer distances. You could technically use a .24 or .32 caliber magnum, however I don't like using them as lightweight rifles. Full length standard size calibers aren't very good as lightweight rifles either.

Any lightweight rifles that have 22" or shorter barrels and weigh less than 7 lbs in total are ideal for hunting. Most non-magnum browning A-Bolt models, and ruger model 77RSI are perfect for lightweight hunting.

Of course you don't have to buy a brand name, you can also opt for one of the many lesser known brands, there are also a number of auto-loading rifles that can be used. There is a huge selection of guns that can be used for lightweight deer rifles.

When shooting beyond 300 yards you should consider using the 6x52 Freres, .240 Weatherby Magnum and many others as these will enable you to do the best you possibly can.

Lightweight guns aren't really ideal, you should look at medium weight rifles to ensure that you get the best accuracy possible.

There are literally thousands of opportunities out there for individuals seeking employment today. The job market appears to be extremely narrow at a first glance but that is because more and more companies are looking for temporary employees rather than permanent employees wishing to sign a long-term contract. It does not matter whether you have a skill or not, an agency can offer you employment to suit you. With a few good job tips for temporary employment, you will have work before you know it!

Most human resources departments have outsourced their employment to external agencies in the recent past as they have found this method of hiring more effective and economical in the long term. Temping agencies often offer a comprehensive service to help individuals to get a job, including job tips for temporary employment.

Before you look for temporary employment though, you should figure out exactly what you want before you start. You may just want a few weeks work to pay bills, but you may actually be looking for a temporary opening that may lead to permanent employment. Making your decision about what you want is definitely one of the top job tips for temporary employment and you should really take. For more info see http://www.temporaryjobshelp.com/Temporary_Job_Placement_Agency/

The Top Three Job Tips For Temporary Employment

There are many job tips for temporary employment out there that you can take before looking for a job. However, some are more useful than others. Here are the top three job tips for temporary employment that could help you:

    1. Whenever you are looking for potential employment, you should always have a good attitude. This will not only impress potential employers, it will also help if you are looking to earn a permanent contract from a placement. Even if you do not like your job or get bored with the training, a proactive attitude will make you stand out from the crowd as well as ensuring that you make it through your temporary employment with few problems. A good attitude makes sure that your performance is always up to scratch and can truly make a success out of every opportunity given to you.

    2. The second most important tip for temporary employment is to enjoy your work. If you narrow down the work placements to the few jobs that you would actually like.to do then you will more than likely make more of an impression on the company that you go to as well as making it easier to maintain that positive attitude. If you look upon every temporary job as an opportunity to learn new skills and make new contacts then you will almost certainly be able to walk away with something that may help you in the future.

    3. Keep yourself to yourself is an excellent job tip for temporary employment. If you get caught up in the politics associated with every job then you will make enemies and will more often than not end up leaving when your contract expires. You should never burn bridges, cause or get involved in conflict or make a bad impression if at all possible. This may prevent you from getting future employment.

If you adhere to these job tips for temporary employment then you will not go far wrong. Making a good impression should be your main aim so always be positive and helpful and you should be fine.

Identity theft has recently become a widely recognized problem, although it only started being mentioned in literature in the 1990's. It is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world and therefore one which we do all need to be aware of and take precautions against. In this article we will look more specifically at what identity theft is in order to give you more background in order to fight identity theft and credit card identity theft.

Identity theft consists of any crime where a criminal uses a person's personal information such as name, social security number or other personal identification facts in any illegal manner. This may include credit card identity theft where the criminal uses the person's name and details to either open up a new credit card in the other person's name in order not to pay and so works up debt in the other person's name; or taking details of that persons credit card and creating a fake copy which they then use. It may also consist of medical identity theft where a criminal uses someone's personal details and medical information illegally. For mopre info see http://www.preventidentitythefthelp.com/Identity_Theft_Statistics/ on Identity Theft Statistics.

Credit card identity theft may occur in a number of different ways. Firstly, someone could scan the information off your credit card while you are not watching and use it to create a duplicate card; they could actually steal your card and use it for their own purposes; or they may open a credit card in your name, using your details but a false address and never pay the bill.

Identity theft occurs when people get hold of your personal details either through credit card skimming, stealing mail out of your mailbox or trash or perhaps breaking into hospital records or other places where your personal details are kept.

In order to best protect yourself against identity theft you should ensure that any paper that you put into the trash is properly shredded beforehand, that you request not to be on any mailing lists for credit offers and opt out of other mailing lists where people send you information in the mail. You should also ensure that your credit card never leaves your sight in stores or restaurants and if you are unsure of the place rather try to pay by cash. Learn as much as you can about identity theft in order to get more information on how to protect yourself.

In this article we have tried to briefly summarize identity theft and credit card identity theft. It is a fast growing crime and one for which we all need to protect ourselves. Personal information may be stolen and used in a number of different ways and you should be aware of these ways and how you can best fight identity theft.

Many people ask me whether there is actually an alternative to bankruptcy. Well actually it might surprise you, but the answe is yes! There are many substitutes for bankruptcy and not all of these are suitable for everybody, it is necessairy to look at each method in detail before making a decision. This will allow the debtor to find out which method will best suit them. Some of the bankruptcy substitutes may put the debtor in a more dangerous position, while others might just prolong the agony. There are a few solutions to this and we'll take a look below.

    Debt Settlement

Many debtors use debt settlement and then ultimatly end up filing for insolvency. In some situations this is a reasonable substitute for bancruptcy, however many studies have shown that many of the people using this method will still end up filing for bancriptcy eventually.

There are some hidden things about debt settlements that very few people are aware about. The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) can actually tax the amount of the debt settlment as this is seen as a form of income. By law every creditor is obliged to report this debt reduction figure to the IRS. The lender will send you a form known as a 1099, you must complete this and include it with your personal taxes. If say you settle with a lender to reduce your debts by $1000 then the IRS sees this $1000 as a form of income, they will therefore use this as part of your taxable income. For more info see http://www.filingpersonalbankruptcyhelp.com/Bankruptcy_Attorney/ on Bankruptcy Attorney

    Consolidate your debts

This is the most popular alternative to filing for bancruptcy, this is basically another loan that pays off all of your other loans. There could also be hidden factors at work when taking out a consolodation loan. You must be careful when choosing a consolodation loan, some of them are very hard to get your head around. You must make sure that this new loan is actually cheaper than what you are paying at the moment.

Normally these consolodation loans work by spreading the same amount of money out over a longer period of time. This makes it look as though you pay less money each month, which fair enough you do. But you will pay back much more interest in the long run than you would of to your original lender. Also many debt consolodation loans require a final baloon payment at the end. This is very inconvenient as the debter will have to find a large sum of money all in one go, it could well be that the lender will have to take out another loan to finance this baloon payment.

Have you noticed that one of the aisles in your local supermarket or Wal-mart is now reserved for $1 items? Even though same item, under a different brand name, may be available for a higher price elsewhere in the same store?

If so, you're not alone. Dollar store franchises have been among the fastest-growing segment of the retailing business for nearly a decade, and a report from "Retail Forward' estimated that there were enough US markets into which dollars store franchises had not penetrated that the growth would continue for several more years.

What is of even more concern to traditional retailers is that, as they are bringing sub-$1 off-brand items into their stores, the dollar store franchise owner is now able to get national brands like Crest, Iams, Coca-Cola and Wolfgang Puck, and many a dollar store franchise is now offering a wide selection of frozen foods, dairy products, and breads and pastries.

    Growing and Growing

A phenomenon in dollar store franchise ownership is well underway, as AC Nielsen estimates that over 62% of all US households now shop at dollar stores. While their core customer base has been low-income families, as the buying power of the company behind a dollar store franchise increases, so does the variety and quality of it can offer. Form more info see http://www.startfranchisehelp.com/Business_Franchise/ on Business Franchise

More and more middle and upper-middle class families have discovered the value of shopping at a dollar store franchise, making the dollar store franchise one of the most attractive opportunities for someone wanting to start his or her own business.

A dollar store franchise capitalizes on closed out, overproduced, and defectively packaged items which manufacturers are eager to get off their hands without incurring a total loss. So their inventory will change from week to week, but for you as the owner of a dollar store franchise, that can be a big plus--you'll have customers who may not need a specific item but just stop in to see what's new.

    A Bright Future

If you are concerned that the dollar store franchise market might have already peaked, consider this: with the rising costs of gasoline, every segment of the retail market will have to raise its prices to cover the increase in transportation expenses. That increase will be a lot less likely to drive away dollar store franchise customers than it will those of the traditional retailers. Why?

Because the dollar store franchise, even if it does have to raise its prices, will still be cheaper than the alternatives. The chances are excellent that it will not only keep its existing customers, it will draw new ones who have finally become fed up with their escalating grocery and household goods bills.

Wellness and fitness is the new age mantra that has got everyone under its grip. Everybody is following the latest diet pattern to shed those extra kilos.

Among the many diets, that have gained popularity is the South Beach diet. Cardiologist Arthur Agatston, MD, director of the Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center in Miami Beach is the founder of the South Beach diet. It is based upon the principle that the body should get its share of carbohydrates. But those following the South Beach should allow only the good carbohydrates and stay away from bad carbohydrates. This translates into staying away from potatoes, rice, pasta etc. The diet is based on the thinking that the right kind of carbohydrates and fats can help people to control weight and appetite.

But even South Beach diet has had its share of criticism. The first criticism is that it disrupts regular bowl movements. The South beach diet stresses on having food items that are very low in fibre and much importance is put on having meat, which is again rich in proteins but low in fibre. Fibre plays an important role in the formation of stools and also promotes healthy bowel movements. In the absence of fibre, many will be forced to take dietary laxatives. For more info see http://www.southbeachdietclub.com/sbdclub/southbeachdiet-food-list.html on southbeachdiet food list.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of Eat to Live, states that the South Beach Diet is like a yo-yo diet. On one hand it aptly seeks to reduce the quantity of white flour and sugar that is so commonly found in the dietary pattern of the common American. But at the same time Dr. Fuhrman disapproves of not substituting the carbohydrates with legumes, fruits etc. He also feels that the addition of animal proteins is another minus point of the diet.

Critics also argue that the emphasis laid on the consumption of commercial pasteurized milk is another minus point with South Beach diet. Many people are allergic to pasteurized casein and the worse thing is that the awareness level is low. The consumption of commercial pasteurized milk will only worsen the case for many.

Critics also argue that the South beach diet does not lay enough stress on exercise. Exercise is an important component is any weight loss program. However, Dr. Agatston states that only 20 minutes of exercise is sufficient. Critics are of the opinion that 20 minutes of exercise is appropriate for a person whose weight falls under the recommended level. For obese or over-weight people, 20 minutes will not suffice. The critic are of the opinion that the South Beach diet does not stresses on the importance of exercise and also does not give much weight to exercise in its diet plan. Most of the experts are of the opinion that exercise should form an integral part of any diet plan as it helps to improve the metabolism of the body and aids in proper digestion.

South beach diet also fails to improve the cholesterol level and halt the intake of statin drugs. This is another criticism levelled against South Beach. Dr. Agatston, the founder of South Beach diet himself has admitted taking statin drugs for controlling his cholesterol. A good and balanced diet should possess the capability of controlling cholesterol.

Thus there are many critics who have pointed the existence of serious flaws with the South Beach diet. However, the reality is that it is a rage among diet aficionados.

The perfect golf swing is not just in the shoulders or the arms. The way your wrists release during your golf swing can have a major impact on the ball. So, how do the wrists release in the golf swing?

If you don't release the swing at the wrists just right, you may end up with a slice. This is what most beginners, and quite a few pros, often do. Of all the culprits that might be ruining your game, you may not think to blame those harmless old wrists. Let's take a look at the way you release that swing...

    Perfect Timing Means Perfect Results

    Here's the perfect release:

Make a good backswing turn. As you start your swing, shift your weight to your left foot, the forward foot of your swing. As you swing, you unwind, starting with your legs and torso, then moving on to your shoulders and arms.

But wait a minute! Keep those wrists locked up. Until the very last part of the downswing, keep those wrists locked. Then, let them go and watch that ball fly. For more info see http://www.getgoodatgolf.com/mental/ on golf tips articles

    Wait!!! Not Yet!

Most golfers release their wrists too soon in the swing. You just can't wait to send that ball flying, so you start to swing your shoulders and arms down too early, instead of letting it start naturally with the torso. You end up swinging the club down and then you have to release the wrists in the middle of that downswing.

You've really got to wait until the final nanosecond of the downswing to let the wrists go. The timing is something that you have to work on. You shouldn't have to force it; if you let yourself unwind just right, your wrists will know when to release.

Usually, when you release your wrists too early, you end up hooking the ball. If you get lots of hooking, you should take a closer look at your wrist release.

    What Happened?

Some golfers don't release the wrists at all. This is most often due to nerves, or trying to force the ball right into the target area. You might be uncertain of your shot, and this will make your shot stiff and frozen. It sounds bad, but even very good golfers do this.

If you don't release the wrist at all, or not enough, you'll end up hitting the ball much shorter than you intended to. You probably will be closer to your intended target, but you'll lose yards and yards on it.

    Get It Right!

Here's a good tip for you when you're practicing: Relax. Let all that tension go. Being nervous about your shot is the number one cause of improper wrist release. Twist your body, put your weight on your forward foot, and do it. It should be a natural motion, and you just can't be natural with it if you're whole body is tense.

Here's another way to think about it: You are using the rotational force of your body. Black belts in karate rotate their torsos in the same way to add power to their punch.

Getting the right wrist release is a Zen thing; it happens when you don't think about it. Sound esoteric? Sorry about that! Put another way, you shouldn't have to consciously release your wrists. If you twist your body just right and let the natural rotation do its thing, your wrists will know when to go.

A good grip, a good set up, a natural swing and you don't have to do anything at all. Just let those wrists go!

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Older child adoption can often be more complex and come with more risks than adoption of an infant. In this article we look at some older child adoption outcomes and how possible negative situations can be resolved or prevented.

The first problem with older child adoption is that older children need to be better prepared for adoption. They may not want to be adopted, they may feel rejection from their birthparents, and they may come with a lot of other emotional baggage that prevents them bonding with their adoptive parents. It is also often more difficult for an adoptive parent to bond with an older child. The more an older child can be involved in deciding who their adoptive parents will be the better the chances are of having positive outcomes in the end. If they feel like they have had a say in the decision then they will be more likely to co-operate with the decision.

A lot of adoptive parents who adopted an older child have also experienced behavior problems with the child. For some adoptive parents who have opted for older child adoption these behavior problems have only come much later after the adoption, while others experience behavior problems almost from the beginning. These behavioral problems may stem from the difficulty in adjusting to a new family member, dealing with emotional issues or adjusting to adolescence (similar problems to what many birthparents of adolescents experience).

Older children are also more sensitive to social and cultural expectations and so older child adoption may make them feel concerned about feeling out of place, not being able to fit in with the family, not being able to make friends at their new school, etc. By giving the older child a say in the adoption process, giving them the information they require about the new situation and helping them come to terms with new social and cultural expectations can go a long way in improving older child adoption outcomes. For more info see http://www.childadoptionguide.org/Foster_Care_Adoption.html on infant adoption

Another issue that concerns many older children who are adopted is what will become of their relationships with their biological family, including relationships with grandparents, siblings and other family members. It is important that the adoptive parents let them know what they feel about these issues and where ever possible give them the chance to maintain these relationships which are already important to them, as dissolving them may cause more conflict between the adoptive parents and child.

Older child adoption may be more difficult and many parents may worry about older child adoption outcomes, but if the older child is given a say in the adoption process and given as much information as possible about the process, the home they will live in, the school they will go to and any other information regarding the social and cultural expectations then the outcomes may be very positive for all involved.

Your bum's too big, your arms are puny and your belly's bulging; in life there's always going to aspects of your body that you're not happy with. Most of these things are easy to change, however if you're an adult you can't make yourself taller, change your body type or make your shoulders wider. Accept the fact that some aspects of yourself you can never change, and instead focus on the things you can change, like losing the belly or putting some muscle on to your arms.

    Genetics Are Not To Blame

Many people try to use genetics as a lame excuse for not having the body they want. For example if your stomach is a problem area, it is easy to blame your parents by saying it was a problem for them too and so you ignore the problem. This is not an excuse. It is exactly what you shouldn't do. Instead begin your workout targeting these problem areas, spend longer and be more intense in your training.

    Are You Just A Quitter?

Research has shown that many people such as yourself are simply quitting and moving on to other exercises to train other muscle groups where results come quickly and easily. Be persistent and keep training your problem areas, accept the fact that the gains may be slower and smaller than in other parts of your body. Seek guidance from the professional trainers in your gym to help improve your training program to hit those muscle groups that are troubling you, and remember to stick to your limits and don't over train, it will only inhibit your results.

    The Solution To Your Problems

However as I mentioned before there are some things that you can not change about your body. Most men want to have broad shoulders, but if you were born with narrow shoulders there's not much you can to about it. But you can train in certain ways to create the impression that your shoulders are broader than they actually are, by proportioning your body appropriately. Work out your abs and do extra cardio to give yourself a lean, toned stomach, and build up your shoulders and your lats to give your body the sought after V shape. This will give the impression that your shoulders are nice and broad.

If your problem is too much fat on a particular area of your body then the solution is easy and there is no blaming your genetics here. You are going to have to cut down on your calories and do a lot more cardiovascular exercise. You will have to work hard and you may feel like quitting, but the final results will be well worth it.

Stop blaming your genetics, it's an easy excuse but it's not the real reason you don't have the body you want. Of course some things you can't change, like your height, but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from toning up, building muscle and losing weight. If you stick to and follow a proven training and nutrition program you cannot fail. The question is, "how much do you want it?"

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Children from 6 years old and above can benefit from doing light strength and weight training. The majority of parents however are cynical as to how healthy it is for children to do strength training, the fact is though, that children who start strength training early do not suffer from the common myth of stunted growth. Children who take up strength training have few if any disadvantages and it is a positive step for most children. As it will encourage your child to be active and learn the importance of exercise. You can also use it for extra family time and it will teach your child healthy habits for life.

    Don't Start Them Too Early

Your children shouldn't start strength training until they are both emotionally and physically mature enough to deal with it. Generally this is at around age 6 for the majority of children, if in doubt speak to a doctor first. However as the child's parent you will no as well as anyone if your child is ready. They must be able to listen carefully and follow instructions to prevent injury or accidents, but the exercises you do should be fun, easy to do and not to technical or intense.

Remember your child is not an adult and their strength training shouldn't be anywhere near as intense or demanding as you might do. It's more important that you use the opportunity to teach your child healthy lifestyle habits than to try to get them to build up muscle. Only once they have gone through puberty, should they think about trying to build up muscle mass. Instead you should aim to improve basic endurance and strength, so that the child feels better and fitter. This is especially important for overweight children who want to participate in sports and get healthy.

Here's What You Should Be Doing

Ideally you should consult a trainer to help you make proper training routine for your child, but you should just aim to make sure that they work out their whole body at least 3 times a week, remembering to include a proper warm up and cool down. For example you could have them do 20 minutes of cardio, broken into ten minutes of skipping, and ten minutes of running (or playing tag). Once they've done that you could do some strength training exercises without weights, such as a circuit; including press ups, star jumps, sit ups, squats, squat thrusts, burpees and leg raises for example. Once they've built up a basic level of strength and endurance you can start to introduce some light weights exercises.

Remember your child is a child and not an adult, so don't push them too hard, you're not aiming for them to bulk up so you should keep the weights light and only slowly increase them over a long period of time. Don't forget to finish with a proper cool down and stretching session.

Children are not perfect and they may not always do what you ask, and you may have bad days with them, but remember they are only children; you can always bribe them with healthy treats or bonus pocket money for behaving well. If you decide to take you child to a gym make sure you clear it with them first or find one that caters for children, alternatively join a circuit training class which would be ideal. Strength training can be fun and a great way to spend more quality time with your child so give it a try.

Smoking; it's one of the worst habits that you can have if you want to build muscle and get fit as a bodybuilder. If you smoke you put yourself at serious risk from a 'bucket load' of horrible health problems, including cancer, and as a bodybuilder you'll find that smoking is detrimental to your performance. Smoking cigarettes is highly addictive because of the nicotine content and is a difficult habit for new bodybuilders to give up. However if you are truly committed to reaching your goals and enhancing your health, you need to make every effort to give them up.

    The Negative Impacts of Smoking

The primary means in which smoking damages your training performance and health is by decreasing your lung capacity. When you workout, you need oxygen which you take from the air through your lungs, smoking decreases your lung capacity and thus less oxygen is transported to your muscles, inhibiting their ability to work hard. This means that bodybuilders who smoke can not train as hard or as long as non-smokers, thus reducing their ability to build bigger muscles.

If you are a competitive bodybuilder, long term smoking has bad effects on your appearance. As well as blocking up your lungs, tar from cigarettes turns your teeth yellow and although you may not be judged on your teeth, every aspect of your overall appearance can make a difference. If you smoke it gives the idea to the judges that you don't really care. Smoking also has the side effect of making your skin less elastic, causing you an increased likelihood of getting stretch marks, which can be very costly to remove.

    You Must Quit

Quitting smoking is not an easy process, no matter what anyone tells you, but if you are determined to be a top bodybuilder you must quit. There are many programs out there to help you quit smoking, get your family and friends to help and support you. Tell everyone you know that you are going to quit; this will commit yourself to quitting, as you won't want to let them down. Once you've quit smoking you'll soon start to notice the benefits and you'll increase your ability to build muscle, plus you'll increase you overall health.

Alcohol is the real enemy of all bodybuilders, as drinking alcohol makes it easy to get distracted from your training program and your healthy eating lifestyle. Most people like to have a few drinks at the weekend and it is hard to say no, especially if going out with the lads is one of your favourite pastimes.

The problem with this is that drinking alcohol will make you put on weight, as it has a high calorie content, it will also inhibit your ability to put on and build muscle mass. The thing you need to realise though is that you don't have to give up your fun lifestyle; you just need to be more responsible and disciplined with regards what you put into your body. Trade in your pint of ale for a bottle of water, or sugar free drink.

    Alcohol is Bad…

You need to think of your body as a machine that you need to keep well oiled. By putting alcohol (or junk food) into your body you are clogging up your machine and reducing it's effectiveness to run properly. Alcohol has no real nutritional value and contains a lot of calories which have no benefit to you or your body. It is easy to consume in excess of a thousand calories in just a few drinks.

If you are serious about getting a ripped, lean body then you seriously need to give the booze the boot. As it doesn't matter how healthy you eat in the day if you go and drink a days worth of calories in liquid form on a night out. Plus alcohol actually slows down your metabolism, which will help you grow a beer belly, and seriously limits your muscle growth and fat loss efforts.

    The Final Straw…

I'm sure you've had a hangover, I absolutely hate them and they put me off drinking along time ago. The problem with hangovers is that they ruin the whole of your next day, they wreck your schedule, they destroy your motivation to do any work never mind get down the gym and train. Even if it's your rest day, it's likely you'll skip meals, stay in bed too long and not get the right nutrients and food. Alcohol also dehydrates you and depletes your body of key nutrients further exacerbating the effects.

Alcohol also lowers the natural levels of testosterone in your body, which as a bodybuilder is a big "no no", as testosterone is a key hormone in helping you build muscle. Also alcohol lowers your inhibitions, thus making it more likely that you'll stop for a kebab or pizza on the way home, which you wouldn't touch with a barge pole in normal circumstances.

Having a beer every now and again won't do you too much harm, especially if you are only bodybuilding for fun, however if you want to compete in competitions then alcohol is out of the question. Sorry. If you are going out on a night, try to position yourself as the designated driver, you won't be able to drink and you won't get grief from your mates for not having a beer. If you do have a drink, schedule an extra 30 minutes of cardio into your training plan to make sure you burn off the extra calories.

As a bodybuilder you are going to be training hard, so it is essential that you do your utmost to take care of your muscles and prevent injury. Before you do anything you should read up on safe bodybuilding practices such as proper lifting techniques, warming up and cooling down. Here we shall discuss some tips on how to stay safe down the gym.

    This Is Essential…

The most important thing that you should do is a proper warm up followed by a warm down at the end of you session. Spend at least 15 minutes warming up; 5 minutes of light aerobic exercise such as jogging then 10 minutes of stretching to loosen off and prepare your body for activity. Lift some light weights before you get started on the serious stuff to prepare your muscles for the stress you're about to put them under.

    Know Your Limits

The next important thing you should know is your limits for each exercise, everyone is different, so don't try to lift more than you feasibly can, as you could get injured. Make sure that your workout is intense, but never sacrifice good form to try and lift heavier weights, as this is a recipe for disaster. If you are lifting weights you should be able to do at least eight reps, if you can't, reduce the weight until you build up your strength. You'll get better results by pushing yourself close to your max than you will if you overexert yourself. You'll find you'll get better definition and muscle increase by being close to this threshold than trying in vain to train above it.

    Spot This…

When you are lifting large amounts of weights you need to have a spotter, especially for when you are doing exercises such as the bench press. Ideally your spotter should be someone of a similar strength as you, as they will be able to help you out if you get in trouble. Make sure that you help them by returning the favour once you've finished on the machine. Ideally your spotter should be your training partner as if anything were to happen to you they would know you, and be able to help staff contact the necessary people. Plus your training partner will help you hit your goals and keep you motivated.

Once you know your training program and have been shown the proper form, try working out in front of a mirror to keep your form in check, as it is easy to pick up injuries by not maintaining the correct form. If you have a training partner ask them to keep an eye on your form too, if not, ask a gym trainer to help you out. Follow the basic fundamentals and use your common sense and you shouldn't go to far wrong. Finally, make sure you have a solid and proven training program, don't just try and 'wing it' as you go or you'll come unstuck, get injured and won't get the results you want.

The muscle building supplement creatine is actually a natural substance which is most commonly found in foods such as red meat. However it has become a staple supplement for many bodybuilders who use creatine for building muscle, as it has been shown to help bodybuilders in a number of ways. Before you think about taking creatine make sure you speak to your doctor.

    Benefits of Creatine

The first major benefit of creatine is to aid the rebuilding of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is used to power your muscles while lifting weights. ATP levels in your muscles reduce each time you lift so by taking creating supplements it allows you keep lifting for longer as your ATP levels will be higher. Thus you can train harder for longer and as a result get better training results.

Secondly, creatine enhances your body's ability to store glycogen; glycogen is the principle storage form of glucose. Thus creatine helps your body store more glycogen in the muscles, so allowing you to train harder and longer. Creatine supplements are also beneficial if you don't get sufficient quantities of it in your normal diet. For example vegetarians often don't get enough creatine in their diets as it is mainly found in red meats.

Are You Going To Use Creatine?

Whether you decide to use creatine or not is really down to you, don't take the decision lightly as creatine is not for all bodybuilders. Most research has shown that creatine is safe to use, however you should always consult your doctor before starting to take creatine supplements.

Make sure that you follow the dosage guidelines carefully so that you get the best results. Also you will need to drink extra water, as one of the side products is increased levels of creatinine which is filtered from the body by the kidneys, so you need to drink extra water especially if you have kidney problems, as creatinine is not good for your health and body. Use your common sense and use your brain and you too can see how creatine, when combined with a proven training program, can help you build bigger muscles fast.

As a bodybuilder you lift heavy weights, you do loads of cardio exercise and you should have even cut out the booze. So you ask, "Why am I still struggling for definition?" well the simple answer if your doing all the above is, your diet.

If your muscles are covered under a mass of fat it doesn't matter how many weights you lift or miles you run, you still won't get the definition you want if you don't have the proper diet. Increasing your cardio exercise such as running will help you to some extent and will prevent you putting on more weight, however on it's own it won't be enough, you need to get into a routine of eating healthily. Don't think diet, think healthy lifestyle changes that you make in your eating habits, it doesn't take long to completely eliminate unhealthy food from your diet forever.

    Here's How To Start

If you are serious about getting definition and being a bodybuilder, you're going to have to 'bite the bullet' and start counting your calories. Simply workout how many calories you are eating a day and slowly reduce this amount, for example cut down by 100 calories for a month and see how it goes, if necessary cut down further. Make sure you cut down only on the bad foods; as if you are weight training you need plenty of high protein nutritious meals to build and maintain your muscle. Use your brain and use your common sense.

    What You Must Know

It is essential that you know the difference between foods which are good for you and foods which are bad for you, most importantly which carbohydrates and fats are good for you and which are bad. Carbohydrates and fat are essential for your body's survival, however they are not all created equal, some fats and carbohydrates are better for you than others.

Carbohydrates, such as pasta are made up of complex carbohydrates which take your body longer to digest and leave you feeling fuller for longer and are low in fat. Whereas fatty or fried foods such as chips are full of bad saturated fats which your body can't break down properly and simple carbohydrates which are digested quickly and stored as fat. So you need to avoid foods containing saturated fats (especially trans fats) and simple carbohydrates, such as chips.

    Eat More?

Try to eat lots of green vegetables, as you won't get fat eating your greens, so eat as much of these as you want. They also contain lots of nutrients and essential vitamins and minerals. You should also try changing you eating routine, as many bodybuilders find it beneficial to eat 6 smaller meals a day rather than 3 large meals, as it keeps the body constantly fuelled and you are less likely to succumb to eating bad foods in your break. It will also help keep your metabolism raised, so you'll burn more fat as a side effect, plus you'll have more energy. Stick to your training program and try keeping a meal diary to track your food intake and you'll be seeing your results in no time. Fat burning and muscle building can be really easy if you follow a simple plan.

No-One is Safe From Muscle Cramps

When you are training to get fit or build muscle you are going to get muscle cramps at some stage in your training program, it happens to everyone. Believe it or not people who don't train also get muscle cramps, so no-one is safe!

Simply, muscle cramps are just muscle contractions which happen completely involuntarily and usually occur in your leg and stomach muscles. Muscle cramps are a real pain, and can really disrupt your training workout, but there are a number of things you can do to help reduce the frequency and probability of muscle cramps.

    Tips To Prevent Muscle Cramps

There are a number of reasons for muscle cramps; the main one is that they are induced by dehydration, low salt and ion levels in the body. So make sure that you carry a good energy drink with you to training, preferably an isotonic drink which has the correct composition of sugars, salts and other ions.

Make sure that you warm up properly before you start training, do at least five minutes of light jogging or skipping to get your blood flowing and cardiovascular system ready. Follow this with some dynamic and static stretching to loosen off your muscles before you do any lifting or intense exercise, as this will also help prevent injuries and allow you a full range of motion in your exercises.

If you have been out of training for a while make sure you place more emphasis on warming up and warming down than you would normally as you are more prone to getting muscle cramps when you've out for a while, the same applies to beginners. Gradually build up the intensity and ensure the muscle groups which you are training have 48 hours to recover before working them again especially if you are doing weights.

The most important thing that you can do to reduce muscle cramps is to stay well hydrated, sip water or your energy drink regularly throughout your training session to keep on top of it. If it is hotter or more humid than normal, drink more as you will lose extra fluid through sweat, so it's important that you constantly replace it.

    Key Points:

-Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated

-Carry a sports drink to replace ions and nutrients lost through sweat

-Warm up and warm down properly

Muscle cramps are normal, every athlete gets them at some point, they usually go away after a minute of so, or quicker if you can stretch the muscle out, however the muscle may remain painful afterwards. If it does, softly massage and stretch the muscle to help it relax, then ice it and rest it for a few days.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Everybody wants to learn how to get six pack abs; you know what I mean, those rock solid stomach muscles that everyone dreams of having. Learning how to get six pack abs is easier than you think, but getting them is the hard part. The abdominal muscles which make up the six pack are like any other muscle group and as such you should not focus just on working out your abs, instead you should be training your whole body. There are a number of strategies you can use to optimize your training to develop your abs to another level.

    You Must Remember This…

The first thing that you must remember is that the abdominal muscles that make up your six pack are like any other muscles in your body. They need hard work and high intensity exercises that push them to the limit if you want to see maximum growth and definition.

A lot of people who are content with keeping toned to look healthy will find that simply doing crunches each day will achieve what they want, however if you are serious about getting a six pack you are going to have to do an awful lot more to really get rock hard six pack abs. Until you start working out with high intensity exercises that really challenge your abs you won't see the results you want.

Here's What You Should Be Doing

Don't fall into the same old trap that most people do; instead kick the routine of doing hundreds of crunches because we are going to take your abdominal workout to the next level and you're going to learn how to get six pack abs!

Start off by intensifying your abs workout by doing them on an incline, do the same as you were doing on the floor but take your last set to failure, until you physically can't do anymore. As you improve gradually increase the incline you workout on and aim to increase the number of reps you do until failure.

Once you've mastered this you can get on to the serious stuff. While incline crunches are a great start, it is not until you start to use weights in your abdominal workouts that you will start to see the results you want. You can do this by simply holding a weight plate across your chest as you do your abs workout, but your need to build up to it slowly. Doing weight training is really beneficial and will help you build the abs that most people dream off.

You Will Fail If You Don't Do This…

However if you don't maintain a healthy diet, do cardio vascular training and train the rest of your body, you won't get six pack abs. It is the cumulative effect of all these factors that will give you the abs of your dreams.

    Don't Be Fooled

Whatever you do don't be drawn into buying the abs machines you see advertised on TV, the bottom line is that people with rock solid six pack abs don't use them. Save your money for a gym membership and be prepared to train hard and live a healthy lifestyle, educate yourself as much as possible and try and follow a proven training plan, only then will you get the abs of your dreams.

The sport of powerlifting is one that was spawned from bodybuilding training as many of the desired outcomes are essentially the same for both sports. The techniques and practices in bodybuilding training and powerlifting training can benefit each other, however the major difference is in the competitions which powerlifters and bodybuilders enter. As a bodybuilder the aim is to look as big and as defined as possible, whereas in powerlifting the aim is to lift as much weight as possible.

If you want to enter powerlifting competitions you'll have to compete over three sections, the squat, the bench press and the dead lift. The winner of the competition unlike bodybuilding is no based on how good you muscles look but how much weight you can lift in total. If you enter a competition you'll be put in a certain category or class depending on a number of factors such as age and experience. You don't have to worry about your body's aesthetics as you do in bodybuilding, so you can focus 100% on training your strength instead.

Like bodybuilding, powerlifters still need to eat well balanced healthy diets incorporating plenty of protein and enough calories to ensure optimum muscle growth. Avoid fried foods, fast foods and other sources of bad fats and bad carbohydrates. Try and eat plenty of vegetables, pasta and high protein sources such as turkey and chicken. Don't forget that powerlifting is not about having the lowest body fat percentage or having the highest muscular definition, so you don't have to worry about a bit of extra fat.

If you want to power lift you need to follow a strict training program as you would if you were training to be a bodybuilder. Make sure that you schedule rest days into your training program to allow your body and muscles to grow and repair between training sessions. Many serious powerlifters and bodybuilders often take a rest week, every twelve weeks or so to reduce stress and allow the body to rest and recover which will enable you to keep training harder and longer and give you a chance to properly reassess your goals and training routine.

Like any sport, you need to set goals and have a detailed training program as a power lifter to keep you focused and on track. Reassess your goals often; stay positive and dedicated and you'll be winning competitions in no time.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

The following tips on stretching piercings are specifically aimed at gauging earlobes, where earlobe piercings can be enlarged to very large sizes to incorporate many different types of ear jewelry including awesome flesh tunnels.

Stretching piercings has been popular in many civilizations throughout history, taking many forms from gauging earlobes to stretching labret and septum piercings. In the very early periods of history the materials used were wood, stone, bone, horn, shells, claws and talons, shaped and carved to facilitate stretching piercings.

The oldest known incidence of humans gauging earlobes was discovered in 1991, in a glacier in the Otztal Alps between Italy and Austria, where a 5,300 year-old mummified body was found with tattoos and an earlobe piercing of between 7 mm and 11 mm diameter. Although the method used was known for definite, this may have been carried out by a method known as dead stretching, where progressively larger ear jewelry is forced through the hole that gradually increases in diameter.

    Preparation

In preparation for gauging, make sure that you have a good anti-bacterial soap without perfume. Then you will need a sea salt solution - make it using three tablespoons salt in just enough water to dissolve it, and at least enough to bathe your earlobe in. Never use hydrogen or any other peroxide as antiseptic - the soap and salt solution are enough.

You will also need some warm water to bathe your ear with before each phase of ear stretching, or you could alternative have a warm shower first. This softens the ear and helps prevent tearing of the skin/scar that could lead to bleeding.

Finally, you will need some lubricant: avoid Vaseline or any other mineral oil or petroleum-based lubricant. Most tips on stretching piercings recommend emu oil and jojoba, each of which offers gentle antiseptic and skin conditioning properties while acting as a perfectly adequate lubricant.

    Gauging Earlobes

When stretching piercings, the two recommended methods are the taper method and the Teflon method. The taper method involves inserting a tapered rod or pin into the piercing, the narrow end being of the same gauge as the piercing, and the broader end one gauge down. The size of the taper is that of the desired gauge of piercing. So if your piercing is 16g, the taper will be a 14g taper, ranging from 16g to 14g. These are equivalent to 1.2 mm to 1.6 mm.

Never use a taper any more than one step down. However, since piercing gauges are always even numbers, one step down is 16g to 14g or 12g to 10g. Also, as the gauge figures drop, the actual diameter increases. So while 16g is 1.2 mm, 10g is 2.4 mm.

There are a number of different types of taper, including a tapered pin on ear jewelry, so you simply insert ear jewelry tapering from your current gauge to the new one. The problem here is that a fully tapered pin will not stretch your ears evenly - the pin has to be of the same diameter all the way through, or your piercing might also be stretched with a taper.

To overcome that, you can use an insertion rod, which is a tapered rod of about 3 inches. After warming your ears with the warm water or shower, and washing them with anti-bacterial soap, apply the lubricant to the taper and slowly work it through. Once it reaches the thicker end, follow it through with ear jewelry of the new size, and you are done. Wipe off excess lubricant and clean the ear with anti-bacterial soap and then some of the salt solution.

An even safer way is to wind a layer of non-adhesive Teflon tape round the pin of your ear jewelry and push it through the lobe. If you can see any space at all when you pull on the ring, then you can safely do this. Wait until the ear has accepted it then do it again, and so on until you have reached the new size, when you can use larger ear jewelry.

If there has been any severe pain or the piercing bleeds, then you must stop immediately and allow the piercing to heal properly before trying again. If you try stretching piercings too soon, before they have fully healed, then you can tear the skin and even have a blowout, both of which will make it difficult to stretch again.

    Gauging Earlobes: After-Care

After-care when gauging earlobes is fairly straightforward. It should not be so much a matter of tending after a piercing until it heals, but more keeping it clean, and turning the new sized jewelry now and again. You are waiting until the ear has accepted the new size of hole permanently so that you can perhaps change the hole diameter once more. The stretched skin has to be allowed to thicken and get harder - give about three times longer than your original piercing took to heal. If you want to use a flesh tunnel, then you can continue stretching piercings until the diameter reaches an appreciable size.

Done properly, and following the above tips, stretching piercings is safe and relatively easy to do. Many extend the diameter of their piercings this way, and gauging earlobes is likely the most popular form of pierce stretching carried out at the moment. Take your time - waiting is difficult, but if your ear is not ready for the next stretching it will likely be damaged.

Stretch piercings in your ear lobes can be obtained by gauging ears to a specific piercing size, either in one go or by means of several successive earlobe stretchings. A lot depends on how large you want your piercing to be, and anything that one gauge more than the last will involve more than one stretching.

Gauging ears is carried out using 'gauge numbers' that refer to a specific diameter of hole. For example, gauge 20 is written as 20g, and that refers to a piercing of 0.8 mm in diameter. 18g refers to a piercing of 1 mm in diameter, so as the gauge numbers drop then the diameter increases. Also, gauges drop in twos, so that there are no odd gauge numbers. Thus, the sequence goes: 20g, 18g, 16g, 14g and so on to 00g. Therefore one gauge step down is from one even number to the next and from a lower piercing diameter to a higher.

When gauging ears you should stretch piercings by only one gauge step. So, if you want to change from 16g to 14 g (1.2 mm to 1.6 mm) you can do so in one step. However, if you wanted to go from a 16g to an 8g (1.2 mm to 3.2 mm) you would have to do that in four steps, involving four stretched piercings, each of one gauge level.

When you have your earlobes pierced with the intention of increasing the gauging to a fairly high diameter for some gorgeous large-diameter bars you have seen or even a cool flesh tunnel, then first consider the initial diameter - the greater the initial diameter then the fewer ear lobe stretching steps you will have to undergo to reach your preferred diameter. Do not have your ears pierced in a shopping mall with a gun because these generally pierce at 20g or 18g at the most.

    Start With a Professional Piercing

Have the initial ear lobe piercing carried out by a professional using a needle. It is well worth the extra expense, and a pro will pierce your earlobes to 16g, thus saving yourself a whole step of gauging ears to your target size. Let the professional know your intention and you will be given some expert advice, and you might even agree to have the pro do the gauging for you.

It is possible for people to do their own stretched piercings themselves, and most do to be honest, but only once they are certain that the initial piercing has completely healed. If you begin too soon you might blow out the piercing or split the skin, and any attempts to gauge your ears after that might be impossible. Gauging ears is a skill that has to be learned, so follow all the advice you find if you want to be able to wear these fabulous barbells you have seen.

It is also essential to wait until each stretching has properly settled, the skin thickening and hardening properly, before going onto the next gauge. This will take about 3 times the time for the initial piercing to heal, but don't rush it.

Ear Jewelry: When Gauging Ears and After

The ear jewelry available for stretched piercings is fabulous. When choosing the jewelry to wear during the process of gauging ears you should keep potential infection and allergies in mind, and surgical stainless steel and titanium are best. However, once you have reached your target gauge and your stretched piercings have fully healed, you have a wonderful world of amazing jewelry in materials too brittle to be used in high gauge pins or barbells.

You can use bone, horn, wood, stone and even amber and glass, many of which also help the piercing to stay clean and not get clogged with oils from your skin. You can also use metal and acrylic ear jewelry in many shapes and sizes. Many are happy with large studs, while others prefer large diameter hoops, barbells and regular earrings. Others love to wear solid cylindrical plugs, either flared or held by o-rings and ear weights made of any material under the sun, though silver, bronze, brass and copper are common. The really wealthy have theirs made in solid gold.

    Flesh Tunnels Are Popular

An alternative to the regular type of ear jewelry is type of hollow plug known as a flesh tunnel. These are particularly used for the larger diameter stretched piercings, and when gauging ears this is often the ultimate objective. Flesh tunnels are available in many different materials and are held in place in much the same way as the plugs: with flares, o-rings or with a screw on back piece. Some people have beaded or other forms of decorative elements threaded through their flesh tunnels, and they are frequently worn as a mark of just how far a person has managed to go with their stretched piercings.

Gauging ears with stretched piercings is therefore carried out by people both for their decorative effect and as a means of displaying their ear stretching skills. Whatever your reason is, keep in mind the gauge of your initial piercing and that everything involved in gauging ears must be sterilized and kept clean and free from germs. Make sure each stage is fully healed before starting the next, and you should have no real problems.

Stretching earlobes is increasing in popularity, and it is important that you learn how to stretch ears properly before you damage your earlobes beyond repair. Flesh tunnels right through their earlobes are a fashion statement to many young people, but it takes a long time for your earlobes to get like that. You cannot simply walk into a salon and ask for it to be done - it will take time and money. Stretched earlobes have to be trained to get that way, particularly since your immune system is trying its best to prevent it.

    How To Stretch Ears Safely

Nevertheless, it is not particularly difficult to get your ears looking just like these glossy magazines, and you can do it yourself in most cases. A lot depends on the method you choose, and the purpose here is to explain how to stretch ears safely and correctly. How can stretching earlobes at home be made safe and free from the infection that could ruin your piercing?

First, some safety tips on how to stretch ears and get beautiful stretched earlobes without infection or scarring:

    1. Your original piercing should be fully healed before you start. A professional gauge 16 needle piercing is best for starting, although you can do it with a 20 or 18g and with gun piercings, though the results will be slightly more difficult to achieve.

    2. Have a shower or soak your ear lobe in warm water to warm up your ears and help prevent tearing of the skin and flesh.

    3. Stretching earlobes takes time so do both lobes at the same time if you want two.

    4. Use an unperfumed antibacterial soap to wash your hands and your ear lobes before and after each stretching stage.

    5. Use a strong sea salt solution to soak your stretched earlobes daily until they have healed.

    6. Turn the pin, ear jewelry or taper daily to prevent any sticking or crusting forming.

    7. Each earlobe stretching should be fully healed without pain before starting the next.

    8. Go up just one size at a time: that is down 2 gauges, eg 16g to 14g to 12g and so on.

Stretching Earlobes: Different Techniques on How to Stretch Ears

Bearing in mind the tips above on preventing infection, sticking and crustiness around the piercing, here are some possible ways how to stretch ears:

    A. Tapering

This the most common way, used by professionals and most individuals when stretching earlobes. Basically, it involves a rod, tapered from your current gauge of piercing up to the next gauge. Thus, if you are starting at 16g, the thinner end will be 16g and the wider end 14g. It should be lubricated with a non-petroleum lubricant such as emu oil or jojoba oil, and then worked through the piercing until the thicker end is level with the skin. You can then push a larger piece of jewelry through behind the taper and fix it. The taper size is generally stated as the gauge of the thicker end, so a 12g taper will start at 14g and taper up to 12g.

The material of manufacture should be surgical steel (or gold if the taper is integral with the jewelry), and some are of acrylic, though that can harbor bacteria so make sure it is properly sterilized. You are advised not to use knitting needles or cocktail sticks when stretching earlobes - that is not how to stretch ears safely, and can lead to infection and also non-standard hole sizes.

    B. Dead Stretching

This is a way of stretching earlobes by forcing a larger piece of jewelry through a smaller piercing - it can lead to a simple tear of the skin or worse, a 'blowout, where the fistula, or tunnel of scar tissue, is pushed right through the piercing due to the pressure used to force the larger pin though. This can cause scarring and it may then be impossible to further stretch the piercing.

It is possible to pave the way for dead stretching by pulling the jewelry up and down in the piercing, so loosening it, and making it easier to insert a larger diameter pin, but this is not how to stretch ears to achieve stretch earlobes.

    C.Teflon Taping

By adding progressively more layers of Teflon tape to an existing jewelry pin it is possibly to slowly increase the diameter of the piercing. : Lubricating oils, as suggested in A above, can be used to facilitate the insertion of each progressive layer until the ear has stretched sufficiently to accept the larger diameter jewelry. Many people use this method, and many professionals recommend it for stretching earlobes at home.

    Weights and Gravity

Some Asian, African and South American civilizations attach weights to pendant jewelry to stretch the holes in the earlobes. The resultant stretched earlobes can be of large diameters and accept large diameter flesh tunnels. However, it is not recommended since the piercings can migrate and change position, and if you get the weight wrong it can tear right through the lobe.

There are surgical techniques available such as cutting a larger hole with a scalpel, but the most popular are tapers, and that is how to stretch ears at home and avoid paying professionals. Stretching earlobes is in fashion, but must be done correctly or the price will be infected wounds that look anything but fashionable.
