Looking at dining tables is certainly a major adventure. Whether you need a table for a formal dining room, or you are looking for something a bit more casual, spending time to find the right piece of furniture can be very fun. Dining tables have been around for centuries, and people have always enjoyed eating together at a large table. As society seems to drift away from proper meal times at a dining table, we still take the time to gather for certain holidays, which requires a dining table to be front and center. As you spend time looking for the perfect table for your dining room, there are a number of things to take into consideration.
Measure the Available Space
The most important thing you can do when considering which dining tables will fit best in your space is to measure the room. Many people set out to purchase furniture but do not take the time to measure the space first. Measuring a dining room may seem a little silly if the dining table is going to be the only thing in the room, but it is incredibly easy to purchase a table that is larger than you think it is.
As you measure, think first about how many chairs you will usually use at the table. This will give you a standard size for the dining tables you want to look at. If you plan to have a lot of extended family over to eat frequently, then it will be a very good idea to look at dining tables that have a leaf. Some tables even have two leaves. A leaf allows the dining room table to become larger while not requiring you to keep a huge table in your house at all times. A dining room table that has a leaf usually pulls apart in the center. The leaf then slides into the middle of the table, and both ends of the table are pushed back together. This allows two or more additional people to sit at the table, and it is a great way to have the option to expand your table without always having a very large dining room table that barely gets used.
Types of Dining Room Tables
Another important thing to keep in mind is what kind of table you want for your dining room. Dining room tables generally come in two different kinds. Standard tables are about the height you would expect for a dining room table. However, counter height tables are becoming more and more popular every day. The chairs that go with a counter height table are also taller, much along the lines of a barstool. Some people prefer counter height dining tables because they do not have to sit as low to the ground. Others simply prefer the traditional height. It is all truly a matter of preference.
Remember the Style
It is also very important to think about style when shopping for the perfect dining room table. Style can relate to things like the color or type of the wood or the style of the table itself. Tables can be either very plain, or they can be fancy with lots of carvings and other decorations. If you are having trouble figuring out what kind of style will look best in your home, then you might consider matching the wood with your kitchen cabinets. If the table will be in a formal dining room by itself, then you also might consider the trim and the overall style of your home. As long as you stick to something you really like, you can't go wrong.

Antique drawer pulls are a great way to pay homage to times past, and they can add a classic look of elegance for any space. The most common use for these pulls is on antique furniture, but some people also choose an antique style for their kitchen or bathroom cabinets. Whatever the reason for selecting antique drawer pulls, there are a number of things that must be considered before a decision is made. It is important to realize that there are many different periods that are considered antique, and even within this wide range of styles there will still be plenty of decisions to make. Most antique pulls are made of metal, and it is rare to find any that are made of other materials. Glass might also be coming onto the antique drawer scene now, but metal is still the predominant material. However, the metal that was used to make antique drawer pulls may be different than the metal that is used in pulls today. Here are some other things that will be very helpful to understand the process of shopping for antique pulls.
Style
While you might think that the style of the antique drawer pulls has already been selected, remember that antique covers many different styles over many centuries. Some antique drawer pulls are very ornate, while others are far simpler. Most people choose antique because they like the ornate designs many drawer pulls once had, but some people also like the simpler days. It all just depends on what kind of design and style you are using in your kitchen or bathroom. It also depends on whether you are purchasing the pulls for a piece of furniture that is actually antique and just needs new hardware.
Material
The question of material is a little bit more complicated for antique drawer hardware than it is for today's hardware. This is because while most of the pieces are metal, truly authentic-looking pieces may not be made of the same types of metal used today. It is up to you to determine how authentic you want the pieces to be. Truly antique pieces are sometimes made of cast iron, which is not in use much today. However, it may be worth it to pay the extra money for a piece that is made of cast iron because this will truly complete the antique look you are trying to accomplish.
Other Considerations
There are also some other important considerations that must be made when choosing drawer pulls, whether they are antique or not. For example, remember to take into account the size of the hardware and the size of the drawer. This is especially important with antique drawer pulls because often the more ornate patterns can take up quite a bit of space on the drawers. In some cases it may be a good idea to find hardware that comes in several different sizes. This way it will be a lot easier to match the size of the drawer with the size of the hardware in a proportional way.
In addition to proportions, also remember that some antique pulls look very dainty and small. These smaller pulls may not look great on very large, clunky drawers. The size of the hardware should make it look like it belongs on the drawer. It may help to measure the size of the drawer's face and then measuring the size of the drawer pull before making a decision. Do not forget to factor in the size of the base pieces of the hardware because that is what can really make the hardware mesh well with the drawer.

These days a wine rack is much more than just a place to store wine. It also makes a bold statement about your personal style and your kitchen. A wine rack is now a piece of the décor, so it must be stylish, in addition to being functional. This means that you must be very selective when trying to choose the perfect wine rack, so here are some important things to take into consideration.
Material and Style
Material and style are two things that go hand in hand when you are considering a new wine rack. Wood was the original material of wine racks, but today metal is just as common. Also plastic and glass are even making an entrance into the wine rack scene. The only bad thing about some of these newer materials is that they can scratch the wine bottles as you pull them out. Usually wood and wrought iron racks do not have this problem, but some of the newer materials do. Also wood racks are much easier to expand because they can be purchased in modular formations, as opposed to other kinds of racks that are not expandable.
Just remember that the material you choose makes a major statement about the style of the rack. Also some materials are better for certain types of styles. For example, wood racks tend to be perfect in the kitchens of those who are looking for an old-fashioned, rustic style, while metal tends to be more modern, contemporary, or even classic. Remember that many wine racks are decorative in addition to filling a need in the kitchen, so make sure that the look of the rack matches the style of the rest of your kitchen.
Space
Another important thing to think about when shopping for a wine rack is the space that you have available to work with. This means both the amount of space and the type of space. Start out by thinking about where you plan to store your rack. If a countertop rack is needed, then the space will be very small, although if you have room in the basement or garage, then a larger rack is certainly possible. Take the time to measure the space before you go shopping. This will ensure that you do not end up with a rack that is much larger than the amount of space you have. Also think carefully about the type of space. A wood rack may be better in places like basements or garages where a small bit of moisture is possible. However, a metal rack may add a lot more elegance to your kitchen décor if you plan to display the rack.
Built-in Racks
Another great option for wine lovers is to have a rack built right into their kitchen. This may only be possible for people who are remodeling, but it is a very unique features that many people will love, especially if you decide to sell the house. Built-in racks can be underneath a cabinet or in an overhead space. They can also free up plenty of space for other parts of the kitchen to be used in better ways so that no inch of storage space in the kitchen is wasted.
No matter what kind of wine rack you choose, just remember that it reflects a big part of your personality in the kitchen. Style is extremely important because many wine lovers consider their rack to be a piece of art that changes just a bit every time their wine collection changes. Just opt for a style that suits you, and all the other pieces will fall into place.

A bakers rack can add style, elegance, and storage to any kitchen. Whether you do not have enough kitchen cabinets or counter spaces, or you just need a place to display some of your favorite dishes and glassware, a bakers rack is certainly the perfect solution for utility. Most racks are metal, although wood is quickly catching up as a second material used for these racks. No matter which kind of material you choose, there are still some important things to keep in mind when shopping for a bakers rack.
Style
One of the most important things to consider when it comes to choosing a bakers rack is style. The rack that does not offer the same sort of look as your current kitchen will only look out of place. A very modern kitchen needs a very modern chrome or steel rack, while a country kitchen will need one with a lot of metal work on it. Just think about the style of your kitchen and consider how the bakers rack will look with your furniture, appliances, and kitchen cabinets.
Size
The size of the bakers rack is also extremely important. Kitchens have the potential to be very open, airy spaces, or they can quickly become too cramped where there are too many things in a space that is too small. Of course these racks are meant to add extra storage space, but one that is too big will only make your kitchen feel cluttered. Before you go shopping, take the time to measure the amount of space you have available for the bakers rack. Think about length, width, and height of the rack. Length and width will depend on how much space is available in your kitchen, while height depends on how tall you are and the height you can reach easily. Avoid getting a rack that is so much taller than you that you have trouble reaching the top shelf.
Some baker's racks are made to go in a corner. This can help with the space issue so many people have in their kitchens. A corner baker's rack really helps utilize a very small corner space and add functionality where space might otherwise have been wasted. Also sometimes a corner baker's rack is a bit sturdier because it has the support of two walls instead of just one.
Use
It is also very important to think about the kinds of things you plan to store on the baker's rack. Some racks only have wire shelving, while others have full shelves that can be used to place small things on. If you plan to store thin items like champagne glasses, then you will need full shelves that will not allow the glasses to slip through them.
Construction
Another important consideration to make is the construction of the rack. Some racks do not feel very sturdy, and this can be a very bad thing if you plan to store breakable objects on the rack. Just spend some time touching the rack and shaking it a bit to see how sturdy it is. You might even consider looking for a rack that comes with storage baskets. This will allow you to hide a few items away while still keeping a very stylish and classic look inside your kitchen. Some baker's racks even have a drawer or two, which is even more convenient. However, these racks do tend to be a bit larger, so make sure that you have enough space. Also take extra care that the rack is able to support the weight of the drawer, even when it has several items in it.

Article Title: Selecting the Perfect Teak Chaise Lounge Chair

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
teak chaise lounge is a great way to add additional seating to your outdoor area. Many people enjoy lying on a teak chaise lounge chair in front of the pool or just out in the sunlight so that they can get a tan. A teak chaise lounge chair will last a very long time if it is properly cared for. Also the durable nature of teak means that even if the chair is allowed to weather naturally to its silvery grey color, the durability and other beneficial effects of teak will continue. No matter what kind of teak chaise lounge chair you purchase, there are a few considerations to keep in mind when shopping.
Style
Most teak chase lounge chairs offer fairly similar styles, although there are a few differences among the various chairs. The biggest difference is whether you want a chair with straighter lines and more exacting angles or if you prefer a chair with smooth curves. It all comes down to exactly what your personal preference is. Also keep in mind the look of your other outdoor furniture. If you are purchasing the lounge chair separately, try to find one that does not look much different than your other furniture.
Another element of style is whether or not the teak lounge chair is adjustable. Some chairs are just very basic, and they cannot be adjusted. Others have an adjustable back that can be raised and lowered, while others have adjustable legs that can either raise or lower the knees. Some chairs even have both options. Also some chairs have wheels on one end. This is to help with moving the chair around.
Color
One thing that is very important to understand when shopping for teak chaise lounge chairs is the fact that some of the chairs you might see will probably be stained. It is not always necessary to stain a teak chair, and some people actually prefer the weathered teak look, which comes after about six to nine months. Just remember that if you do purchase a natural teak chair and then stain it, you will have to sand the chair main times if you ever desire to get rid of the stain.
Cushions
While some chairs do not necessarily need cushions to provide comfort, there are a few teak chaise lounge chairs that will need a cushion. Cushions can come in many different colors, and they can be the perfect solution to pairing a new chair with older furniture. Sometimes a matching cushion is all that is needed to tie the separate pieces of furniture together. Just remember to purchase a cushion that is waterproof and always try to pick the cushions up before it rains. The chair will be able to handle the changing weather, but cushions are not as durable as a good piece of teak furniture.
Price
Of course price is always important whenever you are making a major purchase like a piece of furniture. However, sometimes it can be difficult to determine when the best time to purchase furniture is. In the case of an outdoor teak chaise lounge chair, usually the best time is in the late fall or early winter. This is the time when most retailers are trying to empty all of the summer merchandise out of their warehouses. They are anxious to get rid of their outdoor lounge chairs, so it is usually a great time to buy.
Always remember to purchase furniture in a retail store where you can actually see the furniture yourself. This will give you a chance to sit in it and test the quality of the piece.

A writing table is home to inspiration and style. Of course many people do not use a writing table for what it was originally meant to be used for because of how widespread computer usage now is, but many people simply like having a small, plain desk where they can sit and write in their journal or perform basic clerical tasks like paying bills.
Usually a writing desk is a very plain piece of furniture. Some of these desks may have one small drawer, although there are quite a few that provide just a surface and no drawers for storage. Anyone who is looking for a writing table usually has a very specific function in mind, but there are some other things that should be remembered when looking for a writing desk.
Use
The first thing shoppers should remember when looking for a writing table is that its use is a bit different than that of a desk. The smaller size of a writing desk makes it the perfect solution for someone who wants to try to fit a desk into a small space. Sometimes the need for a desk is great, but the amount of space is very small. In this case, a writing desk provides the best of both worlds. However, shoppers should also remember that they will not be able to fit as many things on a writing table as they will on a desk. They might be able to set a laptop computer on it, but a full size desktop computer will probably not be an option when you are dealing with a small writing desk.
Another common use for a writing table is simple as a flat surface to fill a space. A writing desk adds quite a bit of character in a space that would otherwise sit empty. Also it may provide a small space with a drawer where all of your monthly bills can wait to be paid.
Style
No matter what kind of use you intend the writing desk for, style is also very important. A writing table that does not fit with the rest of your décor is not a good choice. Before you go shopping, think about what kind of space you need the table for. If you plan to put it in your bedroom, take a closer look at your bedroom furniture and take note of the style and wood or metal color. Then take care to look for a writing table that matches. Some styles are so common that finding a matching table is very easy. For example, one of the most popular styles right now is the mission style, and there are many bedroom sets and writing tables that fit the mission style.
Price
Price is also an important thing to think about when purchasing a writing desk. Sometimes a great way to save a little money on a desk is to go for a writing desk instead of a full-sized desk. If you need to save even more money, consider purchasing an RTA, or ready-to-assemble writing table. These tables are usually very inexpensive and can be found at common retailers like Target or Walmart. Just remember that you will have to assemble the desk yourself, although usually anyone can do it without too many problems. As you are putting the table together, look for ways to strengthen the construction of the table. Epoxy is a great way to make a table stronger. Just glue the sides of the table together as you use the screws to fasten it. If the construction of the table uses dowels, use epoxy on the ends of the dowels as you fasten the pieces of the table together. This will make your RTA table last a very long time.

Shopping for end tables is a lot of fun, but it can be a very big task also. There are so many different tables to choose from, and you want to be sure that you are getting good quality end tables, even if you do manage to find a great price on them. After all, a great price is only as great as the quality of the tables you purchase for it. Here are some simple tips for saving money on end tables.
Purchasing Sets
First try to purchase these tables in a set. Often sets come with two end tables and a coffee table, so make sure that you need a coffee table before following this route. Remember you will only save money if you actually need the other items in the set.
Purchase Closeout and Clearance Pieces
Another great way to save money on these tables is to look for tables that are no longer going to be manufactured. Retailers always put these tables on sale to get rid of them quickly, and they especially want to be rid of the tables if they need to make room for new models. Of course you may want the latest style of table, but just remember that tables do not actually change a whole lot from year to year. When a manufacturer stops making a particular model, it does not necessarily mean that the replacement model will be much different than the original. This is especially true of tables that have a very classic look to them. Odds are the manufacturer is simply changing the table lineup a bit.
Look for Slightly Damaged Items
Of course everyone wants to be sure that the tables they purchase are perfect, but some retailers have a "scratch and dent" section of their store. This section includes items that may have been slightly damaged on the way from the factory to the store. In some cases, we may be talking about a very small scratch in an inconspicuous place. These small scratches can mean big savings when it comes to tables, and especially when dealing with solid wood tables, the scratches should not have any effect on the craftsmanship of the table. It may even be possible to refinish the table and get rid of that scratch.
It doesn't necessarily have to be an end table
Also remember that end tables can be just about anything you can imagine. Some nightstands look like end tables, and some wicker cubes can also be great end tables if they have a lid. Just remember that the style of the piece is more important than what the piece was actually designed for. Make sure that any end table you choose is about the same size as the furniture you already have. Dainty tables do not work well with huge pieces of furniture, and modern furniture doesn't match very well with some antique tables.
Measure, Measure, Measure
Finally, make sure that you measure the space you have available to you before shopping. If the end tables do not fit in the space you have, then they are not a savings. You would be surprised how many people go shopping for tables and then forget to measure their space. End tables are often squeezed into the smallest space available in a living room or family room, so it is far too easy to purchase a table that is larger than the available space.
Just remember that you must be absolutely certain about the tables before you purchase. If you aren't sure you will like them, then just keep looking. This is especially true for tables that are bought at a low price using the tips in this article because usually it will be difficult getting the retailer to take them back.

Furnishing your kitchen with a decorative kitchen table set is one of the best ways to give your kitchen a face lift. It can make your eating area appear exclusive and allow you to enjoy your unique style in your dream kitchen. Being offered with classic chairs and table, they make a fashion statement for your home. The size of the kitchen table sets vary widely. You only have to ensure the one you selected will fit your available space and match your taste. However, the simplest one endowed with the contemporary styling is much in demand these days. Apart from looking attractive, the kitchen table sets serve as the perfect furniture to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Like kitchen table sets, there are several other types of furniture that can add a lot of elegance to your kitchen and impress your guests for years to come. One such furniture is the kitchen island cart. However, there can be abundant storage space in your kitchen but little workspace. A kitchen island is the perfect remedy for this.
A kitchen island is a special type of counter used basically for food preparation and auxiliary cooking requirements. Moreover, a kitchen island lends modern stylish looks to the kitchen design. In case you would like to have a simple kitchen island, you can consider purchasing the one that matches with the table. It has the legs and a flat counter space for cooking. It serves the dual purpose of preparing meals and serving food in buffet style. Another design you can consider buying is a simple one including an ordinary flat counter area together with drawers and cabinets underneath. They provide enough storage space under the kitchen island to place utensils and other grocery items.
Most people prefer to purchase a custom built kitchen island as it is especially designed to suit the individual customer's specifications. It can include anything from a sink and cook top to a small refrigerator. It generally has a solid top counter to perform the tasks like rolling dough and preparing meals, thereby eliminating the need of using a cutting board. The flexibility and design options of a kitchen cart is a special feature that is very attractive to many people.
The kitchen is often regarded as one of the most important rooms of any home. For that reason, it requires some special treatment. Your kitchen does not need to be designed in a large space, but should be an attractive and a welcoming place for your family to gather. People prefer to decorate their kitchen in different ways. Some like to add kitchen carts or table sets to provide their kitchen with a dramatic change and wonderful ambiance. Likewise, you can consider enhancing its grace with a stylish kitchen table dining nook. Placed in a corner of your kitchen, this nook serves as the ideal spot for both meals and family activities.
A dining nook table is versatile enough for use in a small dining nook and equally suitable for a formal dining table. You may also consider purchasing the corner nook sets including nook, table, and one bench. The set may or may not contain cushions. Designing the kitchen only with the furniture is not enough. Once the kitchen is all loaded up with all groceries, dishes and electrical appliances, little workspace is left. This raises the need to use the kitchen carts that allow you more table space in the kitchen.
You can easily hang some of the utensils on the pot racks that are regularly used by you. This feature is why pot racks are frequently considered to be among the most useful tools that you can have in the kitchen. You can mount the pot racks to the wall or side of the cabinet. The immense popularity of the pot racks is due to their functionality. They make it more accessible to the perfect pan at the time you need it most.
Apart from adding exclusive appeal to the kitchen, pot racks also lend warmth and texture to this special room of your home. Look for the pot rack offered with both strength and durability. Pot racks come in different varieties and shapes for example, half circle, rectangle, and oval. If you are looking for the pot rack for style and decoration, purchase the one finished in hammered steel. Maintaining these items are as important as using them. You will need to dust the pot racks regularly to keep them clean. At times, you may also wash them with mild soap and water. Organizing all the utensils in the kitchen has never been as easy as it is with trendy pot racks.
In short, finding the perfect furniture for your kitchen can be a big challenge. It should be done carefully. One of the factors to be taken onto consideration before buying a kitchen island is its size and that may vary widely. Ensure to purchase the one that fits your space best.

Okay, so you have agonized for weeks and finally went out and purchased that gorgeous teak patio table that you have had your eye on for quite a while. And now that it is nestled away in that perfect spot on your deck, you realize that the only thing that would make you love your teak table even more is the addition of an umbrella. But not just any umbrella, a teak umbrella that is designed to remain beautiful and durable for decades, just like your new teak table.
There are a few good reasons why you should consider adding the final touch of a teak umbrella to your patio table. One of the most important reasons being that teak umbrellas are extremely durable and can withstand virtually any weather condition, year after year.
Take for instance the Kingsley-Bate teak umbrella. Their teak umbrellas combine the durable, golden teak wood that is weather resistant and low maintenace with quality outdoor fabric made by Sunbrella. This combination presents a patio umbrella that will remain beautiful for years.
The luxurious wood used in Kingsley-Bate patio umbrellas is harvested from Java, Indonesia in controlled plantations. Teak is an ideal wood for outdoor furniture and patio umbrellas since it has a lifespan of approximately 75 years. It also is naturally resistant to insects, warping, splintering and the elements. With teak furniture and umbrellas, there is no sealing, no staining, and no finishing. Left alone, teak weathers to a gorgeous patina gray, but if you want to keep the rich, warm color of new teak, you can do so with a seasonal application of a teak protector.
The fabric used in the Kingsley-Bate teak umbrella is made by the leading manufacturer of outdoor fabrics in America. Sunbrella fabrics have been used successfully through the years to create beautiful, stain resistant and fade resistant awnings, umbrellas and furniture cushions that have withstood the test of time and the elements beautifully. Outside of being water repellant and mildew resistant, Sunbrella fabric is UV protected and colorfast.
And you can pick from over 43 different colors of Sunbrella umbrella fabrics which include textured fabrics such as Limelight, Dots Meadow and Autumn; eye-catching colors like Tangerine Periwinkle and Parrot; and classic colors such as Navy, White and Camel.
Finally, consider patio furniture sets made from aluminum. These lightweight sets come in many shapes and styles, and can suit any décor. They won't rust, and many of them have seats or cushions made from Dacron, which is great for poolside gatherings. Water flows through Dacron, rather than getting caught in it, so your poolside cushions will dry out quickly.
So when you think about purchasing a patio umbrella, you need to be reminded that the sun beats down mercilessly on them, and they are blasted with all sorts of weather conditions including rain and high winds. That is why it is so important to choose the right type of wood and outdoor fabric for your umbrella. With a teak umbrella, especially one made by the leading teak manufacturer, Kingsley-Bate, you can be assured that you are making an investment that will bring added beauty and enjoyment to your outdoor space for years to come.

Are you one of those people that are always adding to your kitchen? If this is the room you use most in the house, you, and everyone you know, may always be buying things for this space. From the latest gadget to use while cooking to cute decorations to help spice up this room, it's very likely you have a lot of kitchen things that you're running out of space for. In this article we're going to take a look at how to take some of that open wall space you have in the kitchen and turn it into something a little more decorative.
All kitchens have a little bit of open wall space. Well this space can not only be used for putting up things like pictures and trinkets, but it can also be used as a space to display other kitchen items you have. For example, you may want to show off a neat piece of Chinese picked up somewhere along the way. Or, perhaps you have old family heirloom kitchen utensils that would make a nice display on the wall, but you also want to have accessible when you're ready to use them. These are all things that you can put up on display in some of that opened wall space.
So the question becomes, what's the best way to hang them? Sure there are plenty of racks and shelves on the market that you can purchase, pop up and put these items on, but there's also a very affordable and unique way to do this. Take a look around at all the cabinet hardware you have in your kitchen. Do you have any extra pieces? Or do you know where you got them? If the answer is yes to either of these questions you're in luck.
Cabinet hardware doesn't just have to be on a drawer or cabinet. In this case, you can screw those pieces of cabinet hardware directly into your wall and use them as a hook for a hanging piece to put the items on that you want to display. This is not only a great way to use up some of those extra cabinet hardware pieces you have, but it's also a nice way to make all of these spaces in your kitchen match. Using this open piece of wall and accenting it with the cabinet hardware continue to make one constant look and theme prevalent in your kitchen.
One important thing to keep in mind when going this route is to make sure that the cabinet hardware can handle the stress you're going to put it under. Not all cabinet hardware is created equal. That means not all hardware can handle the same amount of weight. So, take a good look at the cabinet hardware piece you have before you use it. Is the screw long enough that it's going to give you adequate support once you put it in the wall? Is the material the knob is made out of strong enough to handle the pressure it's going to be under? Make sure the answer is yes to both of these questions before using it.
Additionally, if you can, and especially if you're going to be hanging items with any substantial weight, try to find a stud in the wall to screw the piece of hardware into. This way, you know it has a strong support structure from the backside that should hold it in place for years to come.

There is something to be said about a space that has been lovingly designed down to the very last detail. Oftentimes, it is the small details, not the large pieces of furnishings, which truly tie a room together and make it work.
Take for instance bar and counter stools. Sure, bar stools may seem insignificant when it comes to furnishing your kitchen and dining areas, but they can really make a difference in your space. By selecting the right bar stools or counter stools for your area, you can tie together all of the different design elements in your kitchen and dining areas and really make them complement each other and work together.
And there is such a large variety of bar stools to choose from that you can incorporate the use of counter and bar stools into any décor no matter if it is contemporary, formal or country. You can choose barstools from popular styles such as Provence, Bordeaux and Manchester, just to name a few. And you can also choose from many different materials including wood, wrought iron, textured fabrics and leather to make your space truly unique.
Take for instance the Hills of Provence Collection bar stool by Powell. This exquisitely carved barstool reflects the enchanting richness of Mediterranean French Country living. With its hand carved crest rail, carved scalloped apron rails in a rich antique white finish with sand-through highlights; it's a great complement to any living space. The bar stool is upholstered with a Lattice Fabric.
If your space is a bit more formal than country, perhaps the classic, elegant, and majestic, the Fleur De Lis Swivel counter stool is just what you have been looking for. This swivel counter stool has a warm cherry finish with golden highlights and black leather seat and is the perfect compliment to any luxuriously decorated space.
If you prefer sleek, modern lines in your living space, the Bristol Vinyl Swivel bar stool may be perfect for your space. This bar stool features a chrome finish with a vinyl seat that is available in blue, red and black. This comfortable stool offers a clean and elegant modern look for any home.
Those who are romantic at heart often enjoy the draping rope accents, gracefully curved legs, intricate castings, and the fabulous golden bronze finish of the Canterbury Swivel counter stool. With an inspiring combination of beautifully finished metal and easy to maintain faux buckskin leather, this stool is a stunning and romantic addition to any home.
And you do not have to spend a fortune to add that finishing touch to your space with bar stools or counter stools. Beautiful and stylish counter and bar stools can be purchased for as low as $100 each. Of course, you can spend a great deal more than that if your tastes and wallet lead you in that direction.
But in the end it does not really matter how much you choose to spend, you will love the added touch that the addition of bar stools and counter stools brings to your space.

One of the most highly sought after pieces of furnishings for the kitchen is the baker's rack. In addition to adding that special element of style, baker's racks are also very practical in that they can be used for extra shelving, storage space and/or as a work center. This multi-purpose nature of the baker's rack is what makes it so popular and the perfect addition for any kitchen or living space.
Unfortunately, many people find that they just don't simply have a spacious enough kitchen or dining room to accommodate the bakers rack of their dreams. If you are one of those people, why not accent your living space with a baker's rack nestled innocently in the corner of your favorite room? This could be the perfect solution for crowded kitchens with little counter space, or corners that need a little something special.
The truth is that corner baker's racks can be just as grand and stylish as their traditional counterparts but do not require as much space. In fact, corner bakers racks often give you more space by turning an otherwise useless corner into valuable storage and workspace.
And there are so many styles of corner baker's racks to choose from that you are sure to find the perfect baker's rack to complement your personality and existing décor. Whether you prefer the sleek lines of the contemporary style or the romantic swirls of the country French style or anything in between, there is a corner baker's rack that is perfect for you.
Take for instance the Florence corner baker's rack. This elegant baker's rack is fashioned with romantic swirls using heavy bar stock. Complete with a bronze leather finish and four maple wood shelves, the Florence corner Baker's Rack is the perfect addition to any living space.
If you prefer something a little simpler, perhaps the classic and natural look of the Beechwood Corner Baker's Rack would suit you just fine. This classic, yet elegant corner rack is crafted from solid beechwood and features four triangular shelves.
Or maybe you are a romantic at heart. If so, the quaint, delicate design of the Scrolled Corner Baker's Rack could be just what you are looking for. This rack features romantically scrolled metalwork, three wooden shelves, and three finish options including bronze leather, champagne and hammered pewter.
And corner baker's racks are very affordable. With baker's racks starting out at just a little over $100, there is a corner baker's rack to fit every budget.
So if you want to add that extra design element or create a gorgeous focal point for your small kitchen, dining room or living space, maybe you should browse through the large selection of corners baker's racks. You may be surprised by what you find, and the only thing you have to lose is that unfurnished, unusable space in your corner.

One of the easiest ways to add a romantic or Old World feel to your bedroom's decor is by adding a vanity bench or set. By placing one of these vanity benches in your bedroom or dressing space, you can create a design element that cannot be obtained using other types of furniture.
Vanity benches remind us of a past era where it was okay to slow down and to linger over everyday tasks like putting on make up or brushing one's hair. Today, this luxury can still be part of your day when you place a gorgeous vanity bench in your bedroom or dressing room.
Not only are vanity benches practical, they are also very beautiful and come in a wide range of styles and finishes to coordinate with almost any dcor. In fact, you can find a bedroom bench in all of the popular styles including English, Provence and Victorian, just to name a few.
Take for instance the English Country vanity bench, armoire and mirror by Powell furniture. This vanity bench features elegant details like those found in finely crafted furniture. Finished in a lustrous, satin finish, the English vanity bench is designed using fine moldings and classic turnings. The bench of this exquisite set is upholstered with light brown Chenille fabric.
If you prefer something a little more romantic, perhaps you would enjoy the Victorian Round vanity bench. This bench features an elegantly curved wrought iron back and sturdy base which is finished in a black matte color. The comfortable seat is upholstered using a fine, natural colored fabric.
Or maybe you are looking for something with truly an "Old World" feel. If so, you might appreciate the charms of the Heirloom Vanity, Bench and Mirror Set. This set is finished with an "Heirloom Cherry" finish and features Queen Anne legs and brass plated hardware. The matching bench also has elegantly curved Queen Anne legs and is upholstered with a rich, black, floral fabric.
If simple furnishings are more suited to your tastes, maybe you should take into consideration the Garden vanity bench and mirror Set. This set features an elegantly scrolled metal frame which is finished in a black matte texture and a glass top. The fully upholstered vanity bench is covered in rich damask tone-on-tone tapestry.
The bottom line is that no matter what style you prefer or how sophisticated your tastes are, you are sure to find the perfect vanity bench to accent your most intimate spaces. And you will not go broke while doing so. Most vanity benches, even those on the higher end, are very reasonably priced and average in cost at approximately $300 to $400. Of course, you can spend more than that, or less, depending on your tastes and how far your budget can take you.
But no matter what you choose or how much you spend, you will love the added design element that only vanity benches can your living space. So if your space is lacking in that romantic feel, maybe you should start browsing the large selection of vanity benches today.

Once used on the decks of luxury cruise ships to give passengers the ultimate in comfort, style and grace, the steamer chair continues to be highly sought after due to its comfortable design, classic style and durability.
Made with durable and beautiful teak, the steamer chair is elegantly curved in all the right places to create a truly relaxing and luxurious experience. Whether you are lounging by the pool, sunbathing in the garden, or simply taking a nap on your porch, the teak steamer chair is unsurpassed by other outdoor furnishings when it comes to comfort. Even if the teak steamer chair was not so luxuriously comfortable, it would still be worth a second look due to its durability and natural beauty.
Often called the premium wood for outdoor furnishings, teak has an average lifespan of 75 years, is durable and requires very little or no maintenance. Teak grows in the region of Southeast Asia, mainly in Java, Indonesia, and is harvested from the surrounding forests and teak plantations by the locals and the Indonesian government. The wood of the teak tree is naturally resistant to insects, warping, splintering and the elements, which makes it an ideal wood for creating a steamer chair.
With teak steamer chairs, there is no sealing, no staining, and no finishing. Left alone, the teak weathers to a gorgeous silver color, but if you want to keep the rich, warm color of new teak, you can do so with a seasonal application of a teak protector.
When shopping for your teak steamer chair, you will have several options to choose from, but the basic design and style of the steamer chair almost always stays the same. The chair of the steamer is contoured for optimum comfort, and the back of the chair adjusts to four different positions which makes the steamer chair perfect for just about anything.
And if you want to make your teak steamer chair even more luxurious and comfortable, you can add a cushion. Most teak steamer chair cushions are made with Sunbrella fabric and will do much more than create more comfort, they add a splash of color and design element to your outdoor space that will not go unnoticed by guests.
The steamer cushions can also be purchased to match or coordinate with existing teak furniture. Sunbrella fabrics are made with a woven acrylic material. They are water repellent, mildew resistant and colorfast. They are UV treated to not fade for three or more years, and they are guaranteed to remain beautiful summer after summer with little maintenance on your part.
There are well over 42 colors of Sunbrella teak steamer chair cushions to choose from including textured fabrics such as Limelight, Dots Meadow and Autumn; eye-catching colors like Tangerine Periwinkle and Parrot; and classic colors such as Navy, White and Camel.
So if you want to create a truly stylish and luxurious outdoor space, perhaps you should consider doing so with teak steamer chairs. You can use them poolside, in the garden, on the porch, or in simple furniture groupings in the yard. But no matter where you put your teak steamer chair, it is guaranteed to quickly become the favorite piece of furniture in your home.

Many finer homes and businesses feature beautiful indoor and outdoor furniture made from teak. Although the obvious reason is the beauty that comes from teak, there are many benefits to choosing this type of wood. Saturated with natural oils required to survive the rainforest where teak grows, this wood is naturally resistant to rot, insects, and outdoor elements. Therefore, while the price of teak furniture is generally a little more than you would pay for cedar, redwood, or oak, the fact that this furniture is strong and durable, it is money well spent.
However, because you will spend more for quality outdoor furniture, it is important to know how to care for your patio furniture to enhance its beauty and help it last even longer than normal. Keep in mind that the nice thing about teak is that it can be made for both indoor and outdoor furniture. Regardless of where the teak furniture is placed, you can be sure it will look stunning and complement any home or patio.
The key with teak furniture is to use products that will bring out its natural color. Since teak varies from a blonde to golden amber to a rich, warm caramel, choosing the right product is important. Unfortunately, even with teak, if any wood furniture is left outdoors without being treated, it will battle the elements. The advantage of choosing this marterial is that it has the ability to fight a little harder. However, by using quality products to care for your teak furniture, it will retain its smooth finish, stay strong, and last for years longer.
You will find a number of excellent products on the market specifically designed for teak furniture. In addition, there are a few things you can do as well. To help remove the build-up of moss, you should wash off your teak furniture occasionally with good, old-fashioned soap and water. Just make sure you do the washing by hand, never using a power washer that can damage the furniture. You also want to make sure any soap used is nontoxic. Simply check with your local gardening center or hardware store for the best product sold in your area.
Now, some people prefer to apply a finish to their furniture, which is fine. For this, you have several good options. Remember, if you want you can allow the teak furniture to weather naturally. To do this, you literally do nothing. Simply leave the teak furniture outside in the elements, allowing the environment to weather on its own. With this, you will still need to wash the teak furniture with soap and water, about once a year.
Another option for your furniture is to use a wood oil sealer. Again, teak naturally contains oil but with a sealer, this oil will maintain in the wood grain so it lasts longer. One very important note - only use oil sealer on indoor furniture and never on outdoor teak in that the extra oil will cause the wood to turn black from mildew. Now, if your teak furniture has been painted, you can protect it with a stain preservative. In this case, you want stain that is semi-transparent and with a UV inhibitor. Keep in mind that teak furniture manufacturers strongly discourage people from painting teak simply because it ruins the natural color and beauty while blistering and peeling over time from the oil. With a few easy steps, you can care for your teak furniture and have the confidence that it will provide you with years of beauty and enjoyment.

If you've looked through old family photos recently, you've probably noticed grandpa and grandma or mom and dad relaxing on Adirondack furniture. It's easy to understand why. This classic piece of furniture – with its trademark slanted back and wide armrests – is a part of Americana.
Created at the turn of the century, Adirondack furniture is one of the most enduring and endearing styles of furniture in the United States. While the style began with the venerable Adirondack Chair, it has since evolved into a wide range of furnishings, from porch swings and tables to ottomans, footrests and even loveseats. The look is so unmistakable that it's relatively easy to create new pieces that are distinctly Adirondack furniture.
Marketed originally in Westport, New York by Harry Bunnel, the classic design is manufactured by many companies today. Each has their own unique take on the Adirondack furniture they design and manufacture. Thanks to their innovative ideas, these all-weather furnishings come in a wide range of materials, colors and forms.
Today, wood Adirondack furniture is still considered the traditional style. They are usually crafted from cedar, teak or even mahogany. In the early days, the furniture was left in its natural color or stained to protect the wood. But now, they come in a rainbow of colors and finishes, something to match nearly any home or patio décor.
And not all are wood anymore. Thanks to advances in manufacturing, Adirondack furniture can also be made out of resin or plastic. These less expensive versions are easy to care for, since they can be quickly cleaned with soap and water.
Surprisingly, traditional Adirondack furniture doesn't require a great deal of care either. If you plan to keep the wood finish, you'll want to coat it with a wood sealer to keep the rain out. Wood is a porous material and if you let the elements weather it too much, it may discolor and crack over time.
Because of its timeless appearance, Adirondack furniture looks good nearly anywhere, from porches and decks to backyard gardens and conversation pits.
While the Adirondack Chair is known for its great comfort, nothing beats an Adirondack Rocking Chair. Add some tables in the same style and you'll quickly have a spot where family and friends look forward to gathering.
When the weather turns cold, you can move your Adirondack furniture indoors for year round enjoyment. Covered porches, sunrooms and covered decks are great places to enjoy those moments when the clouds clear away and the sun comes out unexpectedly.
Adirondack furniture doesn't have to be expensive either. Thanks to its popularity, you can easily find pieces that fit your budget. If you can't afford wood furnishings, resin is a good alternative and will give you years of enjoyment.
Just remember that you do get what you pay for. While the resin chairs are weather resistant, nothing beats the craftsmanship of a handmade piece of wood furniture. Not only will wood last for years when properly cared for, but it will age gracefully and elegantly, gaining more character as the years pass by.

The move to be more green is big these days with everyone looking for new ways to make their home and entertainment choices more environmentally friendly.
While you may think of the things you do inside the house, such as turn the lights off when you leave a room, there are also a number of things you can do outside to help lessen your carbon footprint.
What's in your backyard? Those patio chairs and tables you have are breaking down and need to be replaced. Making a decision of what patio chairs and tables to replace them with is a decision that also will make an effect on what type of environmental impact you will have.
Do you know about the recycled patio chairs and tables market? When you think about recycling you may think about doing your part by making sure your old aluminum cans and plastic bottles are out at the curb on days when the recycling trucks goes by. But, that recycled plastic also takes on a new life as many things, including patio chairs and tables.
By buying recycled patio chairs and tables you are going to accomplish two things. First, you are purchasing something that has been made out of recycled items. That means fewer new resources having to be used in the creation of the patio chairs and tables. Secondly, by buying recycled patio chairs and tables you are supporting the recycling industry and showing them there are consumers out there that will put their money behind the idea of making old items new again.
If you are new to the recycled patio chairs and tables market, there are plenty of places to get help. First, you need to know what kind of recycled patio chairs and tables you want in your yard. You may want to do a little bit of a field trip for this. Look up stores and parks that are using recycled patio chairs and tables and look at and feel these items. Many of these pieces look like they are lumber or stone, even though they are really just old plastic bottles given a new life.
After you look through enough of these recycled patio chairs and tables, you will find that there are many other options of going green in your backyard.
Obviously, by planting plants, you are offering more green in your yard. But, think about all the things related to this part of your yard. What are your planters made of? Even they can be made of recycled materials, expanding your positive environmental impact. You can even find planters that will go well with your recycled patio chairs and tables to create a cohesive appearance to the outdoor area.
If you enjoy the green areas of your backyard, why not add to your appreciation of green, by giving back to the environment. As soon as you decide to purchase recycled patio chairs and tables instead of those made from new materials, you have made a major step towards lessening your carbon footprint.

Sure, we all want the patios we see in the movies and on glitzy TV shows. They are like outdoor ballrooms where you could invite everyone you know and still have plenty of free space for entertaining. But, once you come back to the real world, things aren't quite the same. Most real patios are not that large, and it requires a little care and planning to make sure there is enough patio furniture to do the entertaining you want, without making everyone feel as if they have been crammed into a small box.
For the most part, people entertain in the backyard with about 10-12 other people. That means you need patio furniture that can seat 10-12, comfortably. If you have an exceptionally large family or a lot of friends, you may need to adjust this number.
Stick with the patio furniture priorities first. This means seating and tables. These are the two things everyone is going to need. If you are like most people, you are going to want to make sure that all these patio furniture pieces match, or at least can go together without clashing.
Measure the space you have to work with. Now picture how you are going to put the patio furniture seating in this area. There are two plans to go with, either table groupings, where you put 4-6 people around a table, or social groupings with all the chairs around 2-3 sides of the room with shorter tables (much like coffee tables) in front of them for food and drink.
If you are going with the first option, you need to figure out how you are going to fit those patio furniture tables and chairs in the space you have. Not only do they have to fit, but people need to be able to get in and out of their chairs without too much suffering and struggling. Can you comfortably fit two or three tables here? If you can only fit two, you will need to purchase a few extra chairs to fit around those tables and make circles of 5-6 to fit everyone.
If you decide to offer more table space with your patio furniture, you will want at least three tables with four chairs around each one. This will give everyone plenty of table space to spread out their food and drink.
If you prefer the three tables, but are feeling it may be a little cramped, what else is on your patio besides patio furniture? Are there items that can move to another location? What about the grill? Often people put the grill on the patio. The grill, while maybe not too large, will take up a lot of space because no one wants to be too close to it, out of fear of getting burned. You may want to create a separate slab for the grill that is just off the patio, and open up more space on the patio itself.
The final thought on patio furniture for a small space is to find patio furniture that has double functions. Many patio furniture pieces come with storage units underneath. This will allow you to put more away, while still having the look you want in this space.

Whether you live in an apartment, a small home or less than spacious condo, you may have noticed there is just not enough space to have the spread out living area you had been hoping for.
For some reason, the person who designed your home did not allow ample square footage for a living room that was to really be lived in. If you want to open up this space it is going to take a bit of planning and careful furniture buying. One of the pieces of furniture you may think would not fit into the equation would be sofa tables, but you would be wrong. While you may think sofa tables are too large and bulky to be good furniture pieces for a small living space, they can actually serve a number of purposes and replace the need for a variety of other furniture pieces. This translates to space saved by having one item instead of a number of small ones.
Think about the tables you often have in your living room. There are accent tables, end tables and/or sofa tables. Think of the amount of floor space that is taken up by a pair off end tables and accent tables. Now what if you could use sofa tables to replace all these items? You would not just save the space that is being taken up by the tables themselves, but since sofa tables are put flush against the sofa, you will also be able to save yourself a little floor space on one side of the sofa tables.
Now, can sofa tables really do the jobs those other tables do? Let's look at them and find out. What do you use end tables for? End tables are generally a place to put lamps, the remote for the TV, drinks and other things you happen to have with you when you sit down. Sofa tables can do all of this as long as you choose a sofa table that is the same height of the sofa. A little twist to one side or the other and those items are set down. If you have a coffee table this can do part of the job as well.
The other reason many people have tables is to dress up the room, thus the creation of accent tables. Can sofa tables fill this role as well? Yes, they can. Many of the creators of sofa tables know they are not just a table that is always pushed behind a sofa and up against the wall, Therefore they have created sofa tables in a number of styles and designs to suit any décor you have in place in your home. In many cases, because of their size, sofa tables can actually be more ornate and accenting than a small accent table would be.
A final boon to sofa tables is in addition to being good and attractive tables many sofa tables have storage options beneath the tabletop. This offers a way to get more clutter out of the room, and save more floor space for living.

Now that things are warming up outside, you may think it's time to reclaim your yard and enjoy what nature has to offer. Garden benches may well be a part of this complete garden getaway equation.
First you need to decide where in your back yard is best to enjoy natures beauty. There is often one spot that is perfect for garden benches. This is a place where you can watch birds and other animals at play in your yard. This will likely be the place where your garden getaway will be created.
You should start with garden benches. If this is going to be a sitting place in the yard, the most important thing is a good place to sit. Garden benches come in a number of styles and designs, and can be found to fit any theme you want to create. If you would like an older Victorian style look, you may want to look for cement garden benches that look as if they could have come out of a Victorian garden and been placed in your backyard.
If you want a charming country escape, you may want to consider wicker garden benches to set the theme and give you a place to kick back and sip a tall glass of lemonade.
Once the garden benches have been chosen for your backyard getaway, it's time to make sure you have the rest of the environment created. What will be best to have around your garden benches?
Look up.
Is there shade over your head? If the spot you have chosen is under a tree or other shade, you may not need to worry about this, but if not, the sun could be a major annoyance when it is beating down on you hour after hour. If this is the case, you should look into possible shade providers such as a gazebo, a table with an umbrella or even hanging shade cloths.
Next, look around your garden benches. While it's nice to have a place to sit, what other furniture items will you need? Unless you want to hold that glass of lemonade the entire time you are outside, you will need a table to sit at. If you want a matched set, you may want to consider this as you purchase your garden benches and see if you can find a set that includes a table.
Finally, think of the kinds of accents you will need around your garden benches. While it's nice to look at the greenery in your yard, if you want even more green space or to enjoy a few extra flowers, you may want to place planters and topiaries around your garden benches. If you are going to enjoy this area at night, think of lighting options that will work, but not clash with the space. Don't forget to consider extra-special features like fountains and arbors if you really want to dress up the space to make it a creation that is all your own.

Knickknacks have often been associated with paddywacks and giving a dog a bone. But rarely have they been given the dignity of having their own space to call home.
Oh, sure whatnots got their own place in the Victorian Era when a Whatnot could be found in almost every home. There, the little whatnots sat, gleeful at not only having display shelves dedicated to them, but an entire piece of furniture.
Knickknacks weren't so fortunate. They were relegated to the lowly mantle or a side table. But then it happened. The knickknacks' day had come when some enterprising person came up with the perfect piece of furniture just for them, the étagère.
The set of open shelves were a boon to knickknack collectors everywhere. Similar to a Whatnot, the étagère was a French creation. In fact, it owes its name to an old French term that literally means "stage."
Crafted from exotic woods and often ornamented, the étagère quickly became a favorite of homeowners, as its shelves were perfect for displaying souvenirs, mementos, and yes, knickknacks.
Today, the étagère is still a popular piece of furniture, even though you just call it an open set of shelves. One of the main reasons they're so popular is their flexibility. You can use them in the kitchen for cookbooks, as a bakers rack or for showing off your hard earned 4-H trophies for best bovine.
If you have an empty corner, you can get a corner étagère that will fill it nicely and give you more space to show off your collecting prowess. The étagère also comes in larger sizes that are ideal for open wall space where you'd usually place a console table or cabinet. The open shelves keep the wall from feeling crowded.
Of course, you may already have an étagère and not even known it. If you have a cabinet unit over your toilet, either with open shelves or units with doors, that's an étagère as well. And it's a great use of that usually useless space. They can hold towels, toiletries and bath supplies. Out of sight, but never out of mind.
If you have a home office, an étagère can bring order to your chaos. There never seems to be enough shelving in an office. While you could bring in the industrial office types of shelving, why not go for something a little more upscale? The étagère is your ticket to beauty and organization.
Etageres come in all styles and finishes these days too. You can find a piece that matches any décor in you home, whether it's Early American, Mediterranean or contemporary.
Etageres can also be used outdoors, on your patio or deck. You can keep your collection of garden gnomes on the shelves, along with your gardening tools, small starter plants and pots. There's no right or wrong really. You can use an étagère any way you like.
Just don't forget to give those knickknacks a proper home first. Now if they could just come up with a place to put all those paddywacks, life would be good.

Why not put that space in your backyard to use? It's essentially an extension of your home. Unfortunately, many people forget about that fact and limit their entertaining to the inside.
When you finally realize the opportunity waiting within your backyard, there are a lot of things to do.
First you need to select a patio furniture set. Much of this selection is going to be done relating to the style of an entertaining venue you want to create in your yard. If you want a fun tropical Tiki environment, you can find a bamboo table and chair set and even a bar set with a thatched roof. If you are creating an old Roman theme near your pool and waterfall feature, you can find ornate tables with marble or stone tops and matching chairs.
While you may think that's enough to get the party started, there is something you may have forgotten. If you are ever considering getting the party started before the sun goes down, you need to make sure you offer your guests some shade. If you have a covered porch, this is already taken care of, but if you are setting the patio furniture outside, or within a screened in deck, you need to offer a way to keep the sun out of their eyes. This is easily remedied with patio umbrellas.
Here are some of the patio umbrellas you may choose from:
Regular Patio Umbrellas
These are the umbrellas you are most likely to find in a store to go with your patio furniture set. In many cases these umbrellas are dropped into a hole in the middle of the table and can be rolled open and closed as needed to block the sun.
Cantilever Patio Umbrellas
Instead of being a post in the middle of the table, a cantilever patio umbrella is set up off to the side. A great benefit of this kind of umbrella is they are easier to shift and adjust with the sun to offer the best shade, but if you live in a windy climate they often have a mind of their own and are hard to control in a stiff breeze.
Thatch Patio Umbrellas
If you went with the Tiki hut theme for your backyard entertainment area, you may want to go with a thatch patio umbrella to match. These umbrellas will match that thatched hut bar roof. They are also good if you want to just create a natural or tropical theme to your yard. The only problem is these are not the kind of umbrellas that can be put up and down as you see fit on the table. They are permanently placed in the ground and will be there, for good.
Skyline Patio Umbrellas
Want something other than the traditional round umbrella shape? Skyline patio umbrellas break the round umbrella mold and are square in shape, instead.
Remote-Controlled Patio Umbrellas
In a world of technology, how could we do without umbrellas that are electronic? With the click of a button the umbrella opens. Click again, and it's closed.

If anyone had to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, it was Atlas. Because he revolted against Zeus, he was punished by being condemned to forever carry the heavens upon his shoulders.
What, you say? It wasn't the world? In contrast to modern times, the early sculptures of Atlas didn't show him carrying a world globe. It was instead a globe of the heavens.
If it wasn't for the work of Gerardus Mercator, you probably wouldn't even refer to maps of the world as an atlas. His groundbreaking collection of maps was known as an atlas to "honour the Titan, Atlas, King of Mauritania, a learned philosopher, mathematician and astronomer." And the rest, they say, is history.
No one knows for certain when the celestial globe being held by Atlas changed to the earth, but since the 16th century Atlas has been associated with world globes and vice versa.
Today, you can enjoy the timeless beauty of world globes held aloft by the Titan Atlas. You can even get accent tables that use him holding a globe as the base.
If your tastes gravitate toward world globes sans its bearer, there are plenty of choices on the market today.
One of the most popular styles of world globes is the lapis globe or gemstone globe. Made of semi-precious and precious stone, they are as much a wonder of cartography as they are of artistry. Whether you get a desktop model or a floor model, you'll spend hours marveling over these wonderful world globes.
If you're a connoisseur of the finer things in life, you may enjoy the world globes that contain a bar inside. These stunning pieces are hinged at the equator. Lift the northern hemisphere to reveal everything you need to raise a toast to good old Atlas and thank him for holding up the world for so long. These world globes make an attractive edition to your home office, living room, dining room or game room.
While you can always buy a more traditional modern globe, you may also want to consider world globes that have an antique look to them. You can go two routes with these world globes. The first is to buy an old globe with such great countries as Persia or the USSR These make great conversation pieces. Or you can buy a new globe that is a replica of the ancient maps of the earth. These usually include a serpent in the sea and other mythical creatures that were common of maps made in the ancient world.
Finally, you can go out of this world and to another. Today's manufacturers even make world globes showing the constellations and other worlds, such as Mars. Whether your own tastes are closer to home or in the outer reaches of space, chances are good that you'll be able to find world globes that not only meet your thirst for knowledge, but your décor as well.
And while you're at it, you can give Atlas a little break by getting world globes with their own stand. Small wonder why he lost his kingdom of Atlantis. Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders can be quite a distraction.
