Do you have a mailing list? When was the last time you had a look at how profitable the list is for you and made sure everything was up to date?

You're likely one of the many people who've set up their list, got busy, and then forgot about it for a while. There are many things you can do right now to start making more money with your mailing list.

    1. List Checkup – Go through every single message you have in your autoresponder series. This may take you a while to get through if you have a lot of messages set up, but it's worth it.

Recently I switched my website format over to a wordpress site and deleted a lot of the pages from the other design. I had my autoresponder setup to refer to articles on my older site and with the update these were out of date and needed fixing, so I had to go back in and change the links. If your series of messages are too long and it's just too much to handle by yourself hire a VA to help.

    2. Opt-in Location – Do people know about your list? Don't assume everyone will find you because you have an opt-in box in one or two locations on your website.

When setting up your list and describing it you'll want to make sure that you deliver exactly what you offer then and beyond. A bullet-point list works well to let people know what your list offers without requiring too much of their attention to get them to read.

Many people make their list stand out by offering up a free ebook or report for signing up to the list. Other ideas are offer up an audio or a video. Whatever you offer make sure it is of high valuable and something that makes signing up for your list irresistible.

    3. Add landing pages - You should be using double opt-ins to make sure your list has really requested to sign up. After the initial sign-up you will be able to direct them to a landing page. Make sure that landing page they come to grabs their attention and tells them to confirm, you could use something like this:

IMPORTANT: Please check your email inbox and confirm your subscription so that we can send you the information you requested.

Use that landing page to make an offer on your own product or offer an affiliate product. Or if you have a service based-business and want them to get to know you better then direct them to your articles page.

Once they confirm in their email you will be given another opportunity to create a specific landing page. Use that page to make another offer, or lead them to your website to read more information or articles.

You've got people's attention once they get to your landing page and they HAVE to go somewhere once they're done - it might as well be somewhere you can suggest to them so that you benefit from it.

    4. Promote – Think of the places where you promote your list. Is it just in one little box on your website? There are many other places that you should be using to promote your mailing list.

Write articles that you submit to directories that have a bio leading to your opt-in page.

Make a special offer in your signature on forums (if they allow it)

Add a signature to your emails that tells people why they need to sign up for your list

Blog about your list and why they should join it

    5. Contact as often as possible - You've heard this before but it's time for a reminder. If your prospects don't hear from you on a regular basis then they will forget about you and why the signed up in the first place.

How often you contact them will depend on what your list is about but it's often said that you must be making contact at least once a month if you want to be remembered. Many topics will require you to contact your list once a week and this is perfectly acceptable to them because they asked for this information.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Coming to the point in your business where you can begin to think about quitting your full or part time job is an exciting time! Don't let the excitement cloud your judgment. Begin by thinking carefully about this next big step. Here are 7 things you'll want to consider when quitting your job becomes a possibility:

    1. Money - You knew this one would be in here, right? It's so important that you take the time to figure out exactly how much money you will need to work from home full time. There have been many an entrepreneur who's skipped this step and succeeded but you don't need to take that chance. Plan ahead to make sure you will make enough money to support yourself and your business.

    2. Time - now this one is obvious but you need time to run your business. Some moms get an idea in their head that they will be able to work around their kids (at naptime, after bed, etc) and still create a thriving business. This is not a realistic way to think. If you have young children, plan to have a child care provider take care of them while you focus on your business - you'll get more work completed and be much less stressed this way.

    3. Set a Schedule - Before you get into the day to day of running your home business set up a schedule of work hours that you and your family can respect and live with. Print out the schedule, have it laminated and post on your fridge or other prominent place so everyone knows when you will be occupied with business. Family and friends seem to have a hard time with the fact that you are actually working and can't stop anytime you feel like it for phone calls, outings, etc, so setting them straight from the start will help you get your work done efficiently.

    4. Leave that Door Open - When you let your work know that you're leaving, do it properly. Make sure you give the appropriate amount of time to find a replacement and leave on a good note whenever possible. You never know when you might need your job back or a good reference so always leave that door open.

    5. Money Saved - It's always a good idea to have money in the bank but when you are quitting a job this becomes more important than ever. Tuck away two or three months worth of pay and you can be sure you'll leave work with some peace of mind.

    6. Taxes - As a small business owner you will be responsible for paying your own personal taxes at the end of the year. The best way to prepare for this is to put 25-30% of your income into a separate account for when the taxman comes knocking.

    7. Time to Enjoy - Where's the fun in working from home if you don't take time to enjoy what you have created for yourself? Make sure that you don't book yourself so solid that you have no time for anything but work. Working from home is about working smarter, not harder!

As you know there are many things to consider on our journey toward working from home. The list above should give you some things to start thinking bout. Whatever you do, make sure to set yourself up so you have the best possible start to working from home and you'll be so glad you did. Best of luck on your new work at home journey!

Article Title: How To Host A Teleseminar

Teleseminars are almost standard in today's internet business market. If you haven't heard of a teleseminar, it's a group conference call where the host shares information on a particular topic of interest to the guests. Teleseminars can be paid or free to attend. Most often a host will start off with free teleseminars to 'get their feet wet' and then move on to paid calls when they are more comfortable and experienced.

Hosting a group conference call or teleseminar isn't really as complicated or intimidating as it may seem. There are a few tools tat are pretty-much essential to pulling off a professional call. If you plan to host a teleseminar here are some of the tools you'll need:

Conference Line - There are many free conference call lines out there that are very reliable and of great quality. Do some research (or ask your virtual assistant to) to find these free lines or ask other business owners you know who've hosted their own calls. If your VA has done teleseminars before she will likely be able to recommend a good service. You can also find paid services if you are concerned about the quality of a free service.

Autoresponder System – If you are going to host more than one call or have more than a handful of guests you need a system for updating them on your calls and following up after. An autoresponder allows you to plug in your message and send it to as many subscribers as you want. This is important because once people have registered for your call you need to keep consistent contact so they remember to attend. Send you list a reminder or two in the weeks before the call, one the day of the call and then create a series of messages to follow-up after to convert them into customers or return shoppers.

Audio Recording System – Many of the conference call lines do offer an option to record your session but it's often on a pay per use basis. When you get a monthly account with an audio recording system you normally pay a monthly fee and record as often as you like. Many of these programs come with a feature where you can place a player on a web page where your visitor can listen through streaming audio. This tool isn't an absolute must but people have come to expect that a recording will be available after the call. You can give this recording away for free or make it available for purchase.

Teleseminars can be fun! Just make sure you take the time to prepare yourself and the tools you need so that everything goes smoothly and you are presented as a leader in your profession.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

One of the most essential and first tools you should consider getting when beginning you Virtual Assistant business is a website. Your website is your virtual 'home', and should be an important part of your marketing plan. Your potential clients will want to know as much about you as they can find out before speaking to you in person.

While it's true a large amount of your client base will come from referrals, you can be sure they'll ask for a website address when considering margin contact.

As you design your site (or have someone design it for you), put yourself into the position of a potential client. What would someone want to know about you, your business and your services? Make sure you provide full contact information that's easy to find - you'd be amazed how many people build a great site but leave no way to be contacted.

Your website will need a few key components that potential clients will be on the lookout for:

    Contact Info:

As mentioned previously this should be easy to find so when people want to hire your services, they can!

    Services:

Virtual Assistants provide a wide range of services so when people come to your website they will want to know what services you can provide. Have a clear, detailed list of what you are proficient at and explain the details if not obvious.

    Rates:

This is a personal preference. Many VAs post there rates wile many others do not. Of course this may be a benefit for when someone is price shopping, but if you prefer to charge on a project-by-project basis (as I do) this may not work for you.

    Portfolio:

If you do any web design or graphics work a portfolio is a must. People want to see examples of your work before paying you to do something for them. If you do things like sales letters and ghostwriting , having a portfolio of completed work is also a very good idea.

    About You :

Your clients are not only buying your services, they are buying into a relationship with YOU. Let them know who you are and why you can be trusted to hold a portion of their business in your hands.

    Policies and Privacy:

With all the privacy and internet safety issue out there you want to assure your visitors that their information is safe with you and always will be. Spell out your policies on collecting email addresses, collecting payments, work confidentiality, etc.

    Testimonials:

Ok, so you've got up a great website with everything mentioned previously. Does that mean your visitors will trust you? Probably not. You see, they have no way of knowing what quality your work is or even if you're a real professional running an actual business. Testimonials help to prove your credibility by showing that you have satisfied clients who are happy to sing your praises.

Now that you've learned some of the essential elements of a Virtual Assistant's website, go back and have a look at your website (if you have one) and see if you are missing anything. If you don't have a website yet then print this article out and use it as a checklist while your site is being developed to make sure you have used every advantage to create a site that sells your services!

You've hired a Virtual Assistant and you have a great plan of action - great! Now all you need to do is hand the work over to your Virtual Assistant. How you communicate with your VA at the beginning of a project and throughout that project can have a big effect on how productive she is.

It doesn't matter how great your plans are if your Virtual Assistant never really understands what you want from a project. Of course a good VA will know which questions to ask to get the information she needs to do the job right but it will save you time (and money) to know how to effectively communicate with your VA from the beginning.

    Tip 1 - Project Objective:

When you start a new project it is important to explain what you want completed in terms of your objective. What do you want to accomplish by doing this project? What is your overall goal - more money? more prospects? more publicity? For example, if your VA is creating an opt-in page for you she'll need to know what the reason behind it is, why you want these visitors to sign up with your newsletter.

    Tip 2 - Personal Communication

In this world of emails and instant messages it is entirely possible for you to hire a virtual assistant without ever actually hearing her voice at all! However, something seems to get lost in written communications and I find it very helpful to touch base by telephone at least once a month. It doesn't have to be a long call, 15 minutes even to do a quick review of your goals and changes, etc.

    Tip 3 - Emails

When sending email communications to a VA keep each email to one specific focus. If you are sending work it is a good idea to attach it as a notepad, word or even a zip file so it doesn't get lost in the stack of emails a VA can get each week.

Good communication is so important to a productive relationship with you VA so please don't overlook it or it could end up costing you money! It may take some time to find what works best with your virtual assistant but the rewards will be well worth the effort.

When you set up your home office for the first time there are five simple things you should take into consideration. These things are: space, quiet, lighting, office tools and security. Taking care of these five things can make your office more enjoyable and help you work more efficiently by eliminating distractions. A home office can be a space where you work full time, pay your bills, or finish the work from the office outside your home. No matter how you use your home office it has to function in the same way. Below is a detailed description of the five most important things to consider when setting up your office.

    Space

Space is very important in the sense that the amount of space we have to work in can create certain feelings and emotions that can affect the way we work. If you have ever worked in a small office cuticle for any number of times, you have probably felt caged or cramped at least once in your time there. Feeling cramped can impede your work by distracting you from the task at hand. For most of us we enjoy enough space to stretch our arms out in front, out to the side and of course above our heads. You need space to move from your desk to the filing cabinet or bookshelf. You don't have to have a spacious cathedral like room to work in, but definitely enough space to be comfortable in.

    Quiet

Your office should be peaceful area where there are little to no distractions. You wouldn't want your office next to your child's bedroom, where they are hollering or blasting their favorite music. You wouldn't want to be disturbed by Barney's laugh or carton sound effects from the television. If your office space is to be used for work, you need quiet for concentration and focus that will allow you to complete your tasks effectively and efficiently. If you have a choice, try putting your office in the room furthest from the family room and your children's rooms.

    Lighting

Lighting can be seriously important for your morale and for the health of your eyes. Poor lighting can cause blurred vision and serious head aches. If you are forced to squint or sit absurdly close to your screen due to the level of light, then it is time you invest in a desk lamp. If you prefer natural light, then place yourself near a window to satisfy your need for an outdoor view.

    Office Tools

If there is one piece of office equipment to invest in it is a comfortable office chair. So many people suffer from back and leg pains due to sitting in a poor office chair. You want to have enough cushions for your bottom, proper support for the back and the arms as well as a chair that can be raised and lowered for proper leg fit. Purchasing a comfortable chair can make hours in the office much more comfortable. And when you are done working for the day, you can leave the office behind instead of taking the pains with you.

    Security

When running a home business you want to be extra cautious of your homes safety and security. With the office equipment such as computers and fax machines you want to protect these from thieves. Also if you do any work from your home office that contains private or personal information, you want these files or documents protected. You may want to speak to an insurance agent for additional coverage. You may also want to invest in a security system or at least have your home surveyed by a security system company to evaluate your safety risks. In the day and age we live in you simply cannot be too careful.

If you pay attention to these five areas when designing your home office you will be saving yourself a lot of stress and frustration. If you feel comfortable and happy when you walk into your home office you will work more effectively and efficiently. Eliminating distractions such as clutter and noise will let you focus on the task at hand and work to the best of your ability.

A footprint is an 'original' autograph we bestow. Each footprint left is a stamp of one step on a journey. When the waves come and wash over our footprint, it hasn't been erased, just absorbed by the earth and water to be disseminated all over the cosmos. Everything we do affects not only us but also everyone we come into contact with.

Ponder this. We leave footprints on people's hearts and every person that comes into our life leaves us with footprints on our heart. They remain as a reminder of why we encountered each other, even if only briefly.

It's impossible to comprehend how to be loving to our self or others, without first acknowledging oneself and be attentive to ones interests and responsibilities as co-creator of our life.

When we are alone, we can be our self. When among other mortals, we are apt to be bowed by their inkling for us to be this or that. Aspiring to oblige, we may be guided by their inclinations instead of doing what we think is fitting. A hefty bounty is paid whenever we do so, for we can easily become attendants to the whims of others instead of the master of our destiny. The ultimate wizardry is to collar that solitary independence rooted when we are alone and implement it when among humankind.

Stay true to yourself. It's easy to get entangled in other people's conjectures about life and to second-guess your own guileless feedback, but once you unearth and trust your instincts, you'll find that you're routed to the appropriate thoroughfare more often than not.

Friends come and go, loved ones die, jobs shift, children leave home. The only person you can count on to go the distance is you! Studies have shown that those who are independent and self-reliant typically survive and function better in society than those who are dependent on others for happiness and sustainability.

Nothing in this world has a rubber stamp on it. Things change rapidly. Stock markets rise and they may even crash; we may have a job today and yet be unemployed tomorrow. It stands to reason that the more self reliant skills we can adopt and utilize the better prepared we are in coursing through life's ups and downs. And we are far more likely to sustain a desirable life overall.

Know your true worth and keep your feet on the ground. Do not sneak around, afraid, as if you have no claim to be just who you are. Be unique, not a replica or reprint. As, those grounded in truth and self-acceptance are spiritually indestructible. When we engage in life infused with fathomless honesty, our power shines through, our genius arises, our true goodness has a chance to show itself, and our creativity is set on fire. Woo - Hoo!

We each have a destiny, a part to play in this awesome universe! Not you? Why not you? Many of the people who have changed the course of history also would not have believed that they could or would. But when you rely on yourself and are exactly who you are, a new force and new source of power courses through you.

You have something unique, original, and great to express. Stop and rediscover your own inner wisdom. Start with implementing self-trust and honesty. They reel out our inner knowing which allows new and innovative insights to emerge. And, you just may be surprised at the depth and breadth of your inner wisdom you can share and pass along. Let the inner guru come out and start to speak!

Be exactly who you are right now. Trust yourself and shine from your heart center and your magnetic charm starts to manifest! Keep the focus on who you actually are - right now, because that's the most applicable starting point, warts and all. Find the magnificence here, and then let it out. Go for it!

Footprints left on the sand are not made by sitting down. We are all creators. The footprints indented by your trek remind others who you are and why you were there. MAKE EACH STEP COUNT!

Most of us have had the experience of being in possession of a tid bit of what I call a "truth" that we might have been hesitant or afraid to share because we knew it would not be well received. Perhaps we employed non-disclosure or remained silent about someone or something. At the time I seriously doubt many appreciated the fact that silence might be interpreted as consent.

How about instances in which we may have been unable to handle a truth confronting us? This could be a pint sized actuality, such as not wanting to notice that our car was in need of repair/s because we didn't want to pay for them, or a jumbo sized actuality, such as not fully accepting that a cherished relationship was shifting or perhaps ending.

Sometimes we can be in a "weather permitting' mode. This is somewhere between uninterested in knowing and afraid of knowing. The reality is that the truth is usually evident, and we can see it if we choose, but we each have our own elaborate ways of hiding the truth from ourselves, no matter how apparent it is.

Slowly breathe in, then out, and take a private minute to reflect on your ability or inability to communicate or perceive "what is". Notice how frequently you voice minutia that is safe or politically correct and don't relate particulars that are factual for you but are not necessarily as Machiavellian. Don't do anything about any of it; just notice how frequently or infrequently this occurs.

Many of us get ourselves in dilemmas because we are not willing to impart or glimpse at an actuality. We'd rather not hurt somebody's feelings, or feel the initial discomfort of being in touch with what's really going on around us. Perhaps we'd rather not do or say anything of what we know to be true because it's not as comfortable or familiar. For the most part, we avoid the truth because it scares us, makes us angry, or makes us feel like we don't know what to do.

It is vital to have consistency/ integrity between what we relate we're going to do and what we actually do. When this is lacking there will be a build up to a 'situation' where assumptions will be made and misunderstanding will occur. PS: by the way we need to realize this also involves things we tell ourselves!

A can of worms will be inevitably introduced if/when one deems it necessary to turn on alternate personas for different situations. And, this approach to doing things can be exhausting, and confusing!

Energy delegated to fortifying complicated and often completely useless entanglements of lies and pretences can be channeled into something we really desire to do. So in the long run, being honest with oneself and others, actual simplifies and enhances ones life considerably!

A wonderful upside to ones transformation is that relationships which amplify our authenticity will present themselves if they are fostered and nurtured by being honest with our self, and others.

Life continually assists us to grow and learn, experience and explore, discover and discern what's perfect for us at any particular moment- and what is not. Happy Trails!

Life for me is like putting gas in a car; it is something one does over and over.

It's no secret; things change. Relationships change. Family life change. Work dynamics change. You will undoubtedly experience many different changes while on this planet. How you handle those changes depends on you.

Ones personal evolution is the discovery of becoming who they are capable of being by letting life unfold without tightly controlling the outcome. It is based on accepting and loving who we are. And, discovering who we are capable of being.

We don't always enjoy every event that comes forth in our life. And we shouldn't expect to. But accepting these times without resistance can assist the process to "flow" along more effortlessly and easily.

Keep this in mind, when we get upset it wasn't caused by what happened. Our entanglement and resisting causes our distress. The moment we take away these components the upset disappears.

Life is dynamic and unpredictable. When life gets stressful establishing a frame of reference toward what is transcending is beneficial, or we may become own worst enemy. In these moments we are susceptible and may look for relief through our favorite coping mechanism/s such as sugar, alcohol, excess spending, etc, to soothe ourselves.

Sometimes though revolution occurs. As a result of a sudden change in mental landscape our lives can change enormously in one fell swoop. After 20 years, and one failed attempt to quit, one day just I stopped smoking cigarettes. And I haven't smoked one since.

These about faces, however, are not the customary way life presents itself. Most change takes time to grow and mature. The grooves engraved into our minds by years or decades of habitual conjectures are not wiped away instantly; they do however become fainter for lack of use. This occurs while new paths are created. We build them print-by-print slowly but surely, until they ultimately become well-worn passages.

Trying to force the pace of change can lead to a debacle; like pulling grass to make it grow faster may in fact kill it.

A river rarely takes a straight course, meandering instead through the natural shape of the landscape, keeping to the lowest points, moving around mountains and hills. But the water keeps flowing and, eventually, reaches the sea.

The key to lasting change is to go with the current of your natural well being. There is no hurry. The stream of life is directing you.

Water is a fitting analogy. It seeks the low ground and always yields to resistance. Yet water can, over many years, wear down sharp rocks into small, smooth pebbles and carve wide, deep channels through a landscape. This is how change takes place.

To resist the natural flow of life is pointless. We can easily become obsessed with acquiring something or getting somewhere, but to want something so badly can also push it away. To change your life is to get in pace with "following your bliss", or to move with the current. Let go, relax, and fall into life. It will direct you to wondrous new shores.

When we drop resistance, we allow ourselves to gently float down the river marveling at how life unfolds without interference from us.

Around 1400, the English word "whelm," meant to completely cover something with water or it meant an overturned dish. In today's world overwhelm means being "completely taken over" by something.

Juggling between work, family and our personal needs make it so easy to get sucked into the never-ending list of to-dos and inevitably we end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed.

Many of us experience anxiety, stress and despondency because we feel as if we are losing control of our natural balance. This is the natural balance that allows us to walk, talk and chew gum slowly - all at one time!

However when unrealistic expectations begin to propagate, we became disconnected from the meaning behind our actions and it becomes easy to lose sight of why we committed to doing something in the first place as. So, it is easy to lose our motivation. Losing motivation for one thing can quickly snowball into losing motivation for another thing. And, eventually feeling overwhelmed takes over.

So, when you're overwhelmed, instead of trying to get as much done as quickly as you can, try slowing down to get re-connected with the meaning behind your actions. This simple technique assists so you're connected to the natural fuel for getting things done.

If you are facing a situation that makes you feel as if you are moving through quicksand, remember these three simple words - it will pass. There are times that may seem never ending, but in retrospect you may someday find yourself asking, "Where did all the time go?" In the big scheme of things, the years do fly by.

So how can one manage to take advantage of every precious minute despite the stressful and overwhelming feelings they may generate?

First and foremost one needs to create time. Yes, this is possible! To feel less overwhelmed, spend some time paring-down activities, which actually cause more frustration and stress than pleasure (like when you hear yourself saying, "hurry up, hurry up.") Make the cut and you will create a more relaxing and manageable life. As one is left with a larger percentage of activities that are welcoming and credible to your living experience.

    Then:

Do one thing at a time, and see the task through to completion before starting something else.

    And:

Build your energy reserves through self-care, and you will be more resilient when the unexpected comes up. Start with the basics. Eat well, exercise, sleep well, and drink water.

    Lest we forget:

Allow for course corrections. And remember to throttle-back, slow down, and take breaks to stop the madness. Do something for yourself to bring you back to center. I like to take a hot bubble bath, listen to music, or even read my emails. Taking three deep breaths with my eyes closed also helps tremendously. Another suggestion: hop in bed in the middle of the day for a few minutes. Mm, feels so good.

"Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you."

After the holidays, many shoppers load up their carts with storage bins, shelving systems and color-coded containers, all in a determined campaign to get organized for the new year.

For many, our demand for "stuff" has surpassed our ability to buy sufficient space to hold it all. Over time our stomping grounds, especially if they are smaller ones, have a tendency to accumulate and collect all kinds of treasures, gems and keepsakes, otherwise referred to as "junk". It has been stated that one person's trash is another person's treasures, but ones dwelling space can only hold so much! So it is no wonder self-storage is one of the leading growth industries in the United States. How many storage units are being rented just to house bits and pieces?

The truth is, the more we collect, keep, and hoard, the less we value each item. When we keep adding without subtracting, we create a space problem and we can't possibly see [or appreciate] everything we have as we have way too much!

So many of us deal with clutter that it may seem like a humorsome fuss. But it can easily take its toll on us both emotionally and physically. And, when something is no longer serving us and the person we are today, the very nature of clutter is that the clutter is actually holding us back. The approach is to behold and love each material thing for a spell, and then because there is so much more to receive, to set it free.

There are some of us that tether "stuff" because it represents who we think we should be, rather than who we are. Sometimes our flight of fancies are meant to impress others; sometimes they're relics of our past; sometimes they're daydreams about our future.

Whatever the case, it's important to remember that collecting doodads for our fantasy self doesn't make it a reality. Most of the time, it only leads to a lot of "approved" hodge-podge we never actually use.

Trying to de-clutter all at once can be overwhelming. It may even demotivate you! Instead, take five or so minutes, and tackle one task. You'll feel better, and your cranny will be looking good! The best part is dealing with the mess will begin to take hold, be less daunting, and a bit easier. And, combined small steps will lead to big improvements that will be easier to maintain over the long-run.

PS: Success is mine! I just emptied all the wastebaskets around my abode. And later I will put away the holiday decorations. My go for it now to-do list carries a maximum of three.

Remember, we don't have to follow the rules for living that we didn't create. And, we do not have to live out a life that we do not like.

As we recognize what matters most to us, it becomes apparent in our reality and life becomes [how do I put this] remarkable! So, decide what is most [and truly] important to you.

The new year is a time for renewal and a time to reflect on the past in order to assess what's pertinent. So, clear some space to have more, not less, of what you want in life. And, may this coming year be you're happiest and most fulfilling one yet.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

I was born and raised in the state of Pennsylvania; so recent front-page headlines in the world of collegiate sports left me initially shaking my head and feeling bewilderment. After the shock started to wear off I took pen in hand and this article arose.

Denial, in the short term, can be a way to avoid hurting our self and people we care about. It is something that anyone and everyone can be taken in by. And, while it won't kill us, it can certainly dampen ones day, and eventually, ones life.

It is important to recognize the difference between denial and skepticism. Skepticism involves researching the facts before jumping to conclusions. It's a healthy and necessary skill. Denial involves downplaying or completely ignoring known facts to the detriment of things such as ones finances, relationships, or physical and/or mental health.

Many of us can be contentedly unaware of how much we stonewall "what is". We may say that we want honesty, yet our reactions to the truth may leave others wishing they'd told a lie. And sometimes our reactions to white lies or fibs often lead people to continue rebuffing the obvious truth.

When we don't fully appreciate the degree of our own inner strength, we may think we need the comfort that comes from the person who tells us what we want to hear (even if it's not true). In many cases, we simply don't trust in our ability to handle the truth.

It is important to recognize that denial about any situation most likely occurred for a pertinent reason. Denial is often a defense mechanism that pops up because, for some reason, a person isn't able to handle something. Denial can be a perfect solution for coping with a situation that seems ghastly, hopeless, out of control or overwhelming.

A dictionary definition of physiological denial is; "an unconscious defense mechanism used to reduce anxiety by denying thoughts, feelings, or facts that are consciously intolerable".

In many ways, denial is a form of living a lie. Living a lie has very real, and usually detrimental, repercussions and it often takes a lot of effort to sustain.

As you probably already have experienced, there can be some risks of living in denial. You can be unpleasantly taken by surprise when you come face-to-face with the fact that what you thought was true actually isn't. You may also be emotionally or physically (or in other ways) zinged; causing one to feel like you're up a creek without a paddle!

Trying to keep up the denial facade might also contribute to ones feeling stressed and "spent" do to emotional exhaustion. Becoming physically sick, depressed or perhaps relying on outside influences like alcohol, drugs or other ill fitted distractions to "get by" may be indicators something is amiss.

Remember, there's nothing especially "wrong or right" about living in denial. A question one might desire to consider, however, is "What kind of life could I have if I choose NOT to live in this way?" This is a choice that each one of us gets to make.

Everything we do in life communicates a message to others. An effective interaction tool is to Keep It Simple and Straightforward. This skill makes use of the fact that less is often more, and that good communication should be efficient as well as effective. It doesn't waste time conveying information that isn't prudent (or waste the listener or reader's time). Too often, people keep talking or writing because they think that by saying more, they'll surely cover all the points. Often however, all they do is confuse the people they're communicating with.

When one is straightforward and honest situations are met head-on, and important issues aren't swept under the rug. There are no elephants in the room!

With a (genuine) straight shooter, "what you see is what you get". They are a frank and honest person and someone who tells it like it is without the sugar coating, but they always come from love. They sincerely want the best for you, even if they sometimes "seem" brutally honest. If ever you desire or need a straightforward answer, this is the person you need to search out.

(Strangely) this interpersonal skill may be one of those things that you'll only really notice when someone doesn't possess it!

Being straightforward in your approach to life is a breath of fresh air for most people. They see you as someone they can trust and they always know where you stand. If you want to be grow, prosper, and enjoy life, establishing this characteristic is essential.

When people use direct communication, there is less chance taken for misunderstanding, yet there is the possibility for offending or surprising the receiver by the directness/canniness of the disclosure. So, this characteristic may not please everyone. - PS: this form of direct communication may have little or no effect if the receiver, for the caveat of information, is a person who is very unwilling to listen to you, or anyone else for that matter.

Bill Cosby once shared this bit of wisdom. He said there are many ways to succeed, but "the key to failure is trying to please everybody." Realistically, there are some people we just can't please. Or they just don't like us. Please, don't take it personally, as there are so many reasons involved in why someone likes or dislikes us. However, one does need to be aware of when not to change ones values or beliefs just to please someone else, or perhaps when to move on.

It's been said that friends are the family we choose for ourselves. Each time you use simple and effective communication skills you open yourself to opportunities and future friendships. By being and surrounding yourself with such dynamic personalities, you're bound to discover and nurture your very best qualities.

We all come into this life as diamonds in the rough. The cut gives a diamond its brightness that seems to come from its very center or heart, and which leads to its brilliance. Now is the time to use our innate abilities and talents and be a diamond cut to maximize our brilliance!

The modern world is in a constant state of change and innovation. Our lives and macrocosm demand that we keep up with it, or be left behind.

Contrary to general belief, "leadership" skills are not just confined to people in positions of power. No matter where you are in life right now, having leadership skills can be very useful in the various adventures that you encounter. The benefits are priceless in assisting one deal with arduous situations.

Exemplary leaders are favored by others mainly because people trust and respect them, rather than the skills they possess. Leadership is about behavior first, skills second.

The demand for leaders is always greater than the supply, because so many tend to think it is easier to be led than lead.

We all have a few innate attributes of an effective leader! So why not make use of them?

    Effectual leaders:

    * Are creative. They are adept at finding venturesome techniques to motivate themselves and others.

    * Have confidence; in them self and in their abilities.

    * Make a difference in the lives of others.

    * Are a good listener, and a good communicator.

    * Have a positive attitude.

    * Are passionate and enthusiastic.

    * Set a good example and does what is called for, regardless of the circumstances.

    * Identifies the gifts, strengths and limitations of those he or she associates with; then entrusts, prepares, encourages and gets out of the way.

    * Handle issues with integrity (which is way others trust them).

    * Seek out and listen to others, but make up his or her own mind.

    * Desire to leave the world better than where they found it.

    * Learn from the past, but focus on the future.

    * Expect the best from others, as from him or herself.

    * Osmose from role models, but knows who he or she is.

    * Know the power of yes and no, and when to say so.

    * Are not deterred by detractors or naysayers.

    * Admit errors, accept failures, learn from them and move on.

    * Strive to be honest and fair.

    * Say what is necessary, not what is desired.

    * Are congruent. This is having musings, communication and execution all line up. It means our actions (what we do) are consistent with what we say.

    * Are enthusiastic and optimistic.

    * Motivate others by trusting and believing in them.

    * Are authentic and in touch with their values and live according to them.

    * Share those attributes with others. The bottom line here is there are no mixed messages being sent out.As a guiding spirit we are constantly developing skills that allow us to maximize our potential and create the positive change we wish to see in our lives and in those around us.

Feel the Fear.......And Do It Anyway! Emancipated individuals are faint hearted at times, but they don't let the fear paralyze them.

You my friend are far more powerful and equipped than you may apprehend. And the unique imprint you graciously provide is far greater than you've realized or experienced up to now. You are capable of positively and significantly impacting the lives of many, and this will ripple into the future for generations to come. Go for it!

Improving your life is simply a matter of changing the way you look at the world, your attitude toward new things and how you approach different situations. What is important is not the event itself, but how you respond to it.

Fatalism feeds on itself, until people become passive "victims" of life's blows. The "defeated" in life are those who are convinced they will fail before they start anything; they're sure that their "bad luck" will ruin any prospects of success.

However for some people, it's less work to be unhappy than to be happy. They cultivate habits that keep them feeling stretched and overwhelmed. They rarely notice that the reason for their ship wreck is the mind's ignorance, laziness, want of skill, or want of forethought; all of which they could do something to correct.

    Be Proactive

Constantly reacting to situations or circumstances translates to being a step behind. And this can feel frustrating.

Being proactive is not a mysterious quality that we have or don't have. It is a tool that one can develop and strengthen. It is a way of dealing with things. It means applying foresight. Certain things in life are out of our control. Being proactive means making decisions about circumstances within ones realm of influence. It's a great method for avoiding more work down the road but also can be important for averting disasters, planning for the future and for instituting an approach that makes life simple, easy and fun.

Solve Problems - instead of dwelling on them.

Here's how. Define the situation. (What is the problem?). Brainstorm or consider available options. What is your first step to get the "plan of attack" in motion? And, then get on with it!

    Be a good communicator.

You have to communicate who you are and what you want. The degree to which you are competent at getting your point across clearly and succinctly is the degree to which you are effectual. Your fulfillment and your positive identity are directly linked to your ability to make requests, present ideas, and handle taxing conversations with ease.

    Play your strong cards.

What works for you and what does not? Know your strengths and use them.Don't pretend to be something you're not as others will pick up that you're not genuine. So be you.

    Have Simple Pleasures.

A good cup of coffee when I first wake up is an essential part of my routine. I love the smell, relish the flavors and thoroughly enjoy this routine if you slow down for just a moment and take the time to appreciate ordinary events, life becomes instantly more enjoyable, and you feel lucky!

We are the creators of our world.

Stop. And do some quiet introspection to recognize those personal barriers from the past that may pop up and sabotage your life, and luck.

    Don't miss anything.

Many of us don't know how to have fun, so we end up filling our free time with passive entertainments that, ultimately, are not very satisfying. Be adventurous and make a date with yourself (and perhaps others) to get out and try something new!

In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in between, there are doors. William Blake

Science has shown us that everything is energy. Things that appear to be solid are merely energy bundles. Our cars, our furniture, our buildings are all made up of energy in various patterns. Thoughts, feelings, and emotions are also made up of energy and after an expression they continue to exist. We live very much in an "energy soup", sometimes it is noticeably pleasant, or sometimes it feels incompatible or uncomfortable.

The atmosphere (energy) in churches, temples and cathedrals is continuously being cleansed and blessed with incense, bells, candles, sound, salt, prayer and more. And these sacred spaces are known to feel safe, peaceful and deeply nurturing.

Clearing the atmosphere in your own personal space, when moving into a new space, or perhaps when we've been feeling irritable, tired, frustrated, etc. can shift the tone. And it is a fabulous way to remove stale energy that may be lingering from past illness, arguments or upset. Regardless of why you feel the way you do, if your space doesn't feel quite right, here are a few tips to help you bring in some feel good energy. After you read through this article some of the tips may appear to be quite logical and shamelessly apparent! No experience is needed. It's all about clearing out the old and making way for the new!

Perform a space clearing when your energies are strong, your thoughts are clear and preferably when there is no one else in the area (unless they are there to assist). You want the energy "transfusion" to be from you.

    * First, clear as much clutter as you can.

    * Physically clean the space as best you can; dust, vacuum, wash floors, etc.

    * A nice fresh coat of paint on the walls can also do a lot.

    * Open up all the doors, windows, curtains, blinds, etc. to let as much light into the space as possible. This will also allow unwanted and stagnant energy to flow out.

    * Play a selection of fun and lighthearted music. Let the upbeat rhythm permeate the entire space. No doom and gloom, please!

    * Plants are great for creating fresh, positive energy. Just as plants transmute carbon dioxide into oxygen, they can transform negative energy into positive. Anything vital and beautiful will contribute to a positive atmosphere.

    * Continuously running water is another great way to get chi flowing and keep it moving; this is why fountains create such a fresh, soothing vibe.

    * If you want to create a peaceful feeling, or if you want to brighten the atmosphere, hang a crystal in a window to refract sunlight.

    * Another idea is to include a windsock, weathervane or wind chimes. The soft sound of the wind is pleasing to the ear and will make you feel good about being there.

    * Provide pleasant lighting in and around the space so it is illuminated and welcoming. A well lit area is cheerful and makes it easier to concentrate. If you have a dark corner or a room where there's no ceiling fixture, use diffused lighting. Multiple lights pointed towards the ceiling and walls provide reflected light and a soft, overhead glow which minimizes harsh shadows.

    * If you have recently moved, you might be feeling some residual energy from past residents. If that's the case, then consider opening everything that is closed. In short, open all the doors, windows, cabinets, boxes, etc. Anything that is closed should be opened. Taking items into the natural light for a "breather," and opening everything mixes new energy with old.

    * Soaking in a hot bath is not only relaxing but water has an amazing ability to rejuvenate and re-balance our energy. Need to be pampered? A sauna, or steam bath, will help you sweat out impurities. Exfoliation will help remove dead skin cells and improve your circulation. And a massage will relax your body and help circulation as well.

Remember, there are numerous ways to clear a space. There is no one right or wrong way to do it! Eliminating "yucky" energy is more about intention rather than it is about the method used. So, happy space clearing.

We have all got our ears bended by someone rattling on and on about "the good old days." The connotation is invariably that the past surpasses the present and the way things were once done is superior to the way things are done today. It seems like these individuals got stuck in their own trumped up time warp!

Nevertheless, we have all been touched by nostalgia or the longing for or appreciation of the past. And, recent studies examining nostalgia have shown that it occurs in all cultures and among all age groups.

Nostalgia can surprise us. It's a powerful and complex sensation. And, It is aroused from remote passageways in the brain via images, scents, and sounds. Suddenly an imaginary bell goes off and we are taken back to a past experience.

Despite nostalgia's bittersweet put down and the not infrequent commentary to live in the moment, studies suggest that the occasional detour down memory lane can give your spirits a significant lift.

It has been found that nostalgia operates as a positive resource. The nostalgia that fills one's being with strong emotions while going back in time through our memories can not only improve ones self-regard, but can have an anti-depressant effect. Nostalgia is said to neutralize loneliness by enhancing social connections. It can help people recover from sadness and isolation because it reminds us of good times, people we are or were close to, or times when we've flourished over obstacles along our way. And those precious recalls can buffer future "god awful" mind trips.

I tend to use positive reminiscence as part of a cycle that includes savoring the present and looking forward to the future. I love to travel and so I often remember people I met, places I visited and of course the good times I had. Remembering places I've been to and all the wonderful people I met triggers appreciation of where I am now in my life as well as anticipation for what is yet to come. Mmm, there are so many more places to visit (or revisit) and people to meet or reconnect with.

Nostalgia is now being labeled as an emerging fundamental human strength. It is a playground of our past encounters that triggers anticipation and make us want to experience more!

Evidentially the deep crevices of the brain illuminate actual events in the form of a memory and one re-experiences the emotions, stimulations and drives these past events created. It empowers our current mind state, and everything going on in our life through rekindling times gone by. The energy created is the same as you consciously associate with these memories. This generates enthusiasm, and provides inspiration.

So, talking about or remembering times gone by can be a great stimulator and acts as a positive motivator that can be applied to what is going on in your life right here, right now.

Experts don't advocate living in the past. The idea is to enjoy a nostalgic moment. If looking back doesn't come natural you might try ransacking for an uplifting episode from your life story. We all have at least a few of those!

We actually do have time when we need it. And there is plenty of it! However, some of us are just so busy rushing to and fro trying to inch our way through that long list of post it notes, or crashing at the very thought of it all, that we have come to live in a world where time always seems to be in a deficient!

Somewhat miraculously I've come to realize, and live in, a reality that's a far cry from the one I just described. Now the amount of time each task takes is exactly the same as the amount of time I have to get it done in. And it's awesome!

Try this. It's a really easy thing to implement. If there's one thing on your plate that you feel pressure to get done; opt to get it done as quickly as possible. All other considerations have now taken a seat in the back row. This one and only task is up for your attention.

The success rate of this venture is due to "the ability to settle simply with what matters most, and ignore the rest". I have found I accomplish far more in areas that matter more to me. And I certainly get more enjoyment from whatever I have on my to do list. And, it all gets done.

Yeh, time needs to be allotted for tasks such as paying bills, and I allocate 40 plus hours a week to secure an income. But hey I also get a lot of enjoyment from using lights after dark, living in a nice warm and private residence, having access to the internet, receiving and making phone calls etc. So I am more than willing to take a small, but necessary, patch of time to pay outstanding debts, and find ways to supply income so I can continue to enjoy certain things.

A scattered brain only leads to confusion and leaves room for complication and error. So, ultimately it will take more time to complete a desired task. The knack is to be anchored (in body and mind) where you are (some call it being in the moment). This is a great relief for the brain, and one is able to fully concentrate on what is in front of them. Walla, things get done a lot more quickly. Even those detours and roadblocks that come up are handled a lot easier as one is better equipped to identify solutions and implement them. Putting a nice big check mark of completion next to the task at hand can really feel rewarding!

So next time all that chatter about what needs to get done makes its appearance, ask yourself which one is an absolute priority. Little by little you will whittle away at that to do list and probably find a lot of those items don't need your attention at all, or they will fall to the wayside all by themselves.

In the back of the mind of any person or authority involved in publication of authoritative materials as well as information and views held to be "controversial" the specter of libel, accusations of "slander" and hence of lawsuits and similar legal actions are always in the back most corner of most authors, media staff and in 2009 / 2010 currently those writing for, maintaining and managing blogs- "Web Logs".

True , in the US one can always maintain that the "First Amendment" of the United State's Constitution says in part "Congress shall make no law… abiding the freedom of speech or the press", and as well most American States constitutions carry similar provisions.

Yet it is not that simple in our modern times, by a means. The webmaster / blogmaster may reside in the US while the domain name is registered with a British domain registrar , the web hosting being run on server offshore , and staff doing setup and maintenance can be anywhere or anywhere in our "world is flat" Thomas L. Friedman of the New York Times newspaper "The World is Flat" worldwide outsourcing mantra. Its a wide wide world , similar in a means to the jacket manufactured "made in America" where the only labor performed on that product in the US is the sewing of a Chinese made zipper in a garment that was indeed made in over a dozen overseas countries with "foreign" labor worldwide.

Thus when it comes to the definitions and applications of libel law, it's a wide open field. Whose definitions do you use of libel and damage done? Whose rules do you play by in or in any courts of law? What redress and whose law of action? Just the simple logistics of getting the involved staff , never mind the legal authorities into one room , or even obtaining simple answers can be downright hard to obtain can be more than difficult if not impossible in practical logistic terms. Imagine trying to play telephone tag with bureaucrats and legal staff across the world and varying time zones.

    It mind numbing.

Thus for any person or group involved in any manner in publishing on the internet – whether it be a simple webpage or a blog – either singly or attached to a web site libel laws are not laws of strict censorship. As a "practical " matter , anyone and everyone can speak , write , publish on the web expound in their own blog , blogs or make comments on differing blogs , blogposts or assorted miscellaneous forums or perhaps foriu. That and all that they wish so to speak.

However it can be said that "nothing is for nothing". One should always be aware and be cognizant of libel, if the exercise of their own actions and face the consequences of libel. If their actions of what they consider their personal rights infringe on the freedom of another person, particularly their reputation and personal integrity and honor. In the end when it comes to concerns of libel and slanders it never hurts to be careful and conservative when it comes to actions and deeds.

If you are a Canadian considering purchasing a vehicle in the United Sates you should be aware of the rules and logistics of your purchase. It may be to purchase a difficult to obtain vehicle, it may be to save money – a substantial amount of purchase price or it may be obtain a more premium used vehicle –one that never saw a Canadian winter in its lifetime. Regardless of all of that your car importation process will never be as easy and simple as the acquaintance you met in the lineup to buy chicken, told you.

First of all – ensure that you follow the rules to the letter , of the Canadian Government Agency responsible for setting and enforcing the rules dealing with the importation of foreign motor vehicles into Canada – "The Department of Transportation Registrar of Foreign Motor Vehicles " , "Riv.ca" or Riv for short. Their regulations, rules and requirements are plainly listed either on the internet website, on a printed document available from the Queen's Printer, or by phone. It's always safest to phone and ask if you unsure. It never hurts to clarify and be sure.

Once you have determined your vehicle of choice or a list of vehicle and model years you are off to the step of finding and locating a suitable vehicle to purchase. It uses to be that you were at the mercy of car import brokers. In this day of inexpensive communications and the internet the rules have changed greatly. It used to be that your only choices were to buy a newspaper from your chosen American city, hope that it was current, and scour dealer ads. From then on in were expensive phone calls, a lot of questions, and then wondering what else you would be hit for when you arrived at the dealership. Your other option was to physically go on a trip or vacation and spend your time, and holiday searching for your new car. It might have been exciting , but it is no way to spend a vacation and on top of that your negotiating powers are diminished , perhaps by limited supply of the type of vehicle that you want as well as the clicking clock of your travel costs and your limited time frame.

Luckily in this modern day and age we have a lot of other available options.

Dealer websites can be easily checked online. Communication is rapid and generally inexpensive – whether it is by email or directly by phone. It's always a question though of the accuracy of the price quotes online. Are these final prices, negotiable prices, or are these lowball prices to get you in the door. Only the door may be 1000 miles away and expensive to get to. Ask questions and use your judgment skills. It never hurts to be cautious.

Next in line there is eBay. EBay allows the average person or even dealers the ability to market their goods in a tremendously larger catchments area. Usually there are a lot of photos and descriptions. EBay particularly excels in hard to find and vintage cars.

Instead of an individual selling his car locally – and having only a small group of customers, for less than the price of local ad – they can reach a whole new very large market of auto buyers who can be most interested in their vehicle for sale. EBay allows for an automated, in depth car history purchase online, for a nominal fee. In addition if you are serious about the purchase – eBay will provide access to local 3rd party who will conduct an independent qualified mechanical inspection. Keep in mind that eBay is only the facilitator. Any contracts and agreements are between you and the purchaser only.

The financial agreement of purchase price, payment and deposit terms are a matter between you and the seller. Most eBay sellers require a deposit promptly, followed by a bank draft or negotiable instrument within a time period, which has been agreed to between seller and buyer. In most cases transportation costs, back home to Canada, are the responsibility of the buyer. Cars are usually sold fob shipping which means it is the buyer's responsibility for shipment and shipping costs. You can arrange to pick up the car yourself, and perhaps make a vacation of it. On the other hand many find it most convenient, economical and a saving of time, energy and aggravation to have the car shipped home with a commercial auto shipping transport service.

In the end it can be said that it is often safer to purchase your new vehicle close to home. You know the dealers, the car dealers are close by if you have mechanical problems which require service or need product support. On the other hand if a Canadian purchases his car , and imports it from the United States he may either have a substantial cost saving or obtain a hard to obtain vehicle or a good used car that has never seen harsh Canadian winters.

It is not difficult to import a new car into Canada by yourself. In the process you should save yourself a fair chunk of money. The steps are fairly simple and straightforward. It simply comes down to following the rules as laid down by the Canadian government agency – the Riv, which is the (Canadian Registrar of Foreign Motor Vehicles). The Riv publishes a list of "Motor Vehicles Admissible from the United States". Follow this list, and in addition ensure that you have completed any additional requirements from your local Canadian province or territory (For example Northwest Territories, the Yukon and Nunavut). It's no more complex than this procedure. It should be noted that to import a new car without the use of a professional auto import broker is relatively easy and straightforward. If you have a more exotic or challenging case then you may wish the services of an established, professional automotive broker and / or importer. If you are importing a used car, then it may not be as simple a matter of importing a new car, where everything is relatively new and standards and procedure have all been set and established by the government agencies. In such a case as well you should consider the services of a broker. In the end it may be an easier and less expensive route.

The main webpage of the Registrar can be found at the website: http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html

The specific list of vehicles admissible to Canada can be found at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impusae.htm

The list is available in simpler html format at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/menu.htm

And a more elaborate html format at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/menu.htm

Basically the list is composed of a few columns. Admissible vehicles, inadmissible vehicles and a column for "notes". Simply put ensure that your vehicle that you wish to purchase and import is listed in the "admissible" section , not listed ( pay special and specific attention to year of manufacture) in the "inadmissible section" and lastly that there are no special notes referring to your vehicle of choice, in the area marked "notes". If you are unsure or need clarification, it is always better in these situations to be safe rather than sorry. Call or email the registrar to confirm and clarify. A car stranded on the "other side" of the border is of no use to you. You will be left with no car to drive in Canada and a car that must be sold to a person residing in the United States. In such a case you will to go through the trouble and expense of having to sell the car to a willing American buyer – perhaps for ease of sale sold on eBay. Again the key is to do your homework as well as taking the time to check and verify. By doing so you should be able to easily import your new car, at less cost than you would pay otherwise, with little trouble and fuss.

If your vehicle that you plan to import into Canada is less than 15 years of age you will have to find out if it qualifies for importation under Transport Canada's Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program. The RIV's program is set up to ensure that qualifying models imported into Canada are modified , inspected and certified to meet Canadian standards, You can most easily visit the Riv site online at http://www.riv.ca/. Alternatively you can phone the toll free number, email or snail mail.

The key question to have answered on the Riv site or in direct communication with the Registrar of Imported Vehicles that your car, truck or SUV is admissible for importation into Canada according to the gold standard - "Transport Canada's List of Vehicles Admissible from the United States. Next it is essential totally that your vehicle is NOT on the Inadmissible List. This Transport Canada list is your bible for importation of your vehicle into Canada without a broker. Lastly ensure in the third column marked "notes" that there are no overriding further restriction in regards to your vehicle and that any modifications noted and insisted on in the column can be completed as well as accomplished within a cost factor within your choice and budget.

Assuming that you have accomplished all the above. Before your vehicle can leave the United Sates it must be cleared for export by US Customs. Fax the bill of sale, title and relevant documents to the appropriate US Customs office at least 72 hours prior to your arrival at US / Canadian Border.

Your next process will be to clear Canadian authorities. Again if you have prepared the proper documentation – Bill of Sale , title , clearance letter from the US Customs office and a recall clearance letter on official letterhead from the dealer or manufacturer of the vehicle stating that all recalls have been performed on the vehicle. You will be asked to pay approx $ 300 Riv fees at that time, GST (General Sales Tax) on the price of the vehicle. If your vehicle was manufactured in the NAFTA (North America Free Trade) areas of the United States, Canada or Mexico you will not pay additional import duties and taxes on the vehicle, which are generally about 6 %. Depending on your geography and jurisdiction you may or may not have to pay provincial sales tax at the time point or later when the car is registered and licensed. Lastly if your car has air conditioning installed you will be asked to pay an excise fee of $ 100.

You can now cross the border. You are almost home free. Riv has appointed the national automotive chain Canadian Tire to conduct the final inspection of your vehicle and perform any modifications required. The fee of inspection is included in the Riv fee at the border. Any modifications or work necessary is at your expense. In the case of some luxury brands inspection, modification and certification can only be done at factory authorized retailer. You can only be given the essential recall clearance letter until this authorized dealership route is completed.

You are now cleared, almost at the successful completion of importing your new car into Canada, without a broker. The final step is to register and license your new vehicle in your local provincial or territorial area. You have imported your new vehicle – all without a professional import car broker. It is all a process, which is carefully outlined. Follow the steps. If you are unsure – call or email. In the process you will have your new vehicle and saved a lot of your hard earned money.

It is the most common question that I get from my fellow homeschool moms, "How do you keep your younger children occupied while teaching your older ones?" I am always happy to share my experiences with other moms in the same situation that I am in.

Nothing can hinder teaching like an impatient toddler who wants to do school too. So I have put together a list of ideas proven to occupy your little one so that you can focus on teaching your older ones.

    1. Lacing cards- This is my favorite activity for younger kids! This activity promotes creativity, helps with dexterity and gives your child a great sense of accomplishment.

    2. Puzzles- These are not only a great learning tool, but they are fun too. Puzzles are great for memory, concentration and dexterity. I recommend a puzzle with letters and numbers to encourage a little bit of learning while they are having fun!

    3. Play-Dough- This is a tried and true classic. Break out the play-dough along with some cutting tools and a rolling pin and watch your toddler's imagination take over.

    4. Scissors and Paper- Let them build their confidence and prepare for kindergarten by giving them old magazines or scrap paper to cut into pieces. Please do keep an eye on them or they are likely to try to cut something that you don't want them too, like their hair (speaking from experience here!)

    5. Blocks- Once again this is a fantastic tool to encourage your child's creativity. They will enjoy building towns, buildings or just building towers and knocking them down!

    6. Crayons- Never underestimate the power of crayons and a coloring page. There are so many websites offering free coloring pages that your child will never color the same page twice!

    7. Make a box of toys and books that only come out when it is school time, this keeps your toddler from getting bored with the toys and gives them something special to look forward to.

    8. Last but not least invest in a pair of headphones and some read along books on tape. Toddlers love to listen to stories and flip through the books on their own. The headphones make them feel especially grown-up.

These tips are tried and true by me and many of my friends. Homeschooling with little ones can seem like a quite a challenge but if you remember that they just want to be included and provide them with stimulating activities then everybody's school experience will be rewarding.

Many people wanting to start an eBay business spend a lot of time fretting over what they will sell. Perhaps these questions are familiar: Where do I find ideas? Should I sell the most popular items? How do I know a good idea? These are important questions everyone faces.

EBay already contains so many items for sale that some sellers feel overwhelmed from the start wondering how they can possibly find a product idea when the market appears to be full anyway.

So where should you start then?

    1.Your hobbies

This can be a great way of establishing a niche. Perhaps you love embroidery or making model airplanes? Chances are a lot of other people share this passion and are looking for related supplies. Crafts and hobbies is big market – however, before you jump in headfirst, make sure you do some research to back up the feasibility of your idea. eBay is a numbers game and no matter how great your idea is, it won't work if not enough people are interested. So be sure to use the completed listings search and test the market with some of your own supplies first.

2.Listen to what your friends and family are talking about

Sometimes the best ideas can arise from your friends and family. One seller says she overheard some women at the table next to her talking about the trouble they were having finding a particular brand of baby slings. This got her thinking, and, after a bit of research, she realized they were a foreign brand and hard to find in the USA. A wee bit of research later and she had found a supplier and was successfully selling online. So keep your eyes and ears open! If people you know are looking for a particular item, chances are others will too.

    3.Research newspapers and magazines

Newspapers and magazines can provide a ton of information on trends and styles. Just browsing the headlines can often be enough to spark a new idea. Try sitting down with a pen and notebook and skimming the pages of popular magazines and daily newspapers. You should have a list of at least 10 ideas by the end.

    4.eBay Seller Central

EBay itself has a fantastic resource in the Seller Central area 'What's Hot'. Every month, a list of super hot, very hot and hot items are published. This is a great way to find ideas but remember that everyone on eBay also has access to this information! The merchandising calendar is also a useful resource.

All successful sellers sell several products, rather than putting all of their eggs into one basket. Not only can trends change with the wind, but some products are only popular during a particular season. For example, dehumidifiers are more popular during winter than summer, while lawnmowers are super hot in spring and have a practically non-existent market in the winter.

5.Find out what your buyers are buying

A good way of expanding your product range is by 'spying' on your buyers. After making a sale, check your buyer's feedback and find out what other items they have been purchasing recently. This will help you get to know what your target market are interested in and expand your range accordingly.

Finding something to sell can seem daunting at first, but I guarantee that once you think of one idea, plenty of others will quickly follow!

Article Title: Expanding Your Online Business By Building A Website

As business grows, it can be a good idea to support your eBay sales with a website.

The first step is building a web presence outside of eBay by creating your own website. Building a website is not a difficult task. These days you don't necessarily need the know-how to do it all yourself – there are plenty of people who will do it for you. Turnkey stores are an option, or you can have a designer create the basic design for a website and then purchase shopping cart software separately.

Either way, you need to think carefully about branding at this point. Branding is recognizable design features that are carried across your entire business from product to business cards, to your website and brochures.

A brand helps your customers associate your products with an over-riding concept and identify them as part of their lifestyle. For example, some brands are associated with natural and organic concepts while others are associated with fine quality or a particular lifestyle. When establishing your online business, take care to make sure the branding you have already established on eBay remains consistent across your new website.

There are thousands of stores on the web, so to be successful, you'll need to do something to make people visit your site and stay there for longer. One of the most effective ways of doing this is by providing people with information about your products. For example, if you sell small kitchen appliances, why not add articles to your site on how to use each appliance, tasty recipes to make with each, how to fix problems, and so on? Not only are you giving your users a reason to come back to your site, you are also increasing your chances of being placed in the top search results for keyword searches relating to the items you sell. Search engines give higher priority to good quality, unique information, so this is an effective way of keeping rankings high and getting traffic from organic search results.

Another way of getting more traffic to your site is by carrying out link exchanges. Just remember to limit yourself to related sites, otherwise you may find that you end up with a lower rather than higher search engine ranking! Linking to sites not related to the content on your site can actually give you a lower search engine ranking, so stay away from sites that offer hundreds of links for a fixed price. The best idea is to link to other sites that relate to what you are selling. For instance, keeping with the appliance example above, a site such as this could exchange links with sites selling china, cutlery, linen or recipes.

Finally, you can drive traffic to your site through advertising. Your ebay listings are one way of advertising if you add your site URL to your About Me page. Google Adwords is another very effective way of getting traffic to your site. A targeted campaign can do wonders for your website.

Done well, a website should increase overall sales, increase traffic to your eBay listings, and increase your reputation as an expert in your area.

Article Title: Over Coming Problems When Importing From China

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

The prospect of importing goods from China is both exciting and terrifying for many sellers. On one hand there is huge potential for making money from reselling wholesale goods purchased very cheaply. But on the other hand, language and cultural barriers present a number of difficulties to sellers. The main issue that everyone is worried about is payment: How do I pay? Will my money disappear?, and so on.

The difficulty lies in the fact that most Chinese wholesalers will only accept Western Union and wire transfer payments. These are not secure payment options so they must be treated with caution.

However, the main reason why these are the only payments accepted is that they are in fact the only payment methods available to the Chinese. Getting a credit card in China is an extremely difficult task with a lot of government regulations and strict criteria for getting a card.

So then, despite the risks involved with using Western Union and wire transfer, these are the methods you have to use if you want to import from China with most suppliers. To minimize this risk, our advice is to start with a fairly small shipment of goods so you are not standing to lose too much money if everything falls apart. Then, as trust is established, gradually build up your order over time.

On the whole, most Chinese suppliers are genuine, hard working people who want to establish a long-term relationship with you. They need your business, so it's unlikely they'll try to deliberately screw you over!

Another big issue for sellers importing from China is communication. It can be extremely daunting trying to negotiate complex business issues when communication is so difficult.

To get around this problem, we always ask a new contact for their MSN or ICQ email address and chat to them online. They tend to be very friendly and enjoy talking to people who speak English as a first language (this helps them improve their communication too), plus it gives you a direct point of contact instantly.

With communication now established, you can proceed to ask questions and get them to send you pictures of stock and so on. Once we've built up a relationship, we then ask them to send me a sample order. For any genuine company, this isn't a problem and it allows us to see the quality of the product first hand. We can then be fairly certain that the company is trustworthy, and that this is the product we wish to import.

One thing we haven't talked about so far is quality. This can be another major concern for sellers who often have difficulty telling whether a brand name product is genuine or not.

In our experience, the vast majority of brand-name goods that come from China are either replicas or fakes. We strongly recommend that you assume that this is the case in the first instance. eBay is currently cracking down heavily on people selling fakes and it is not an area of business we suggest you get into!

Generally, we find that Chinese suppliers are best suited for cheap generic goods (they are manufactured there so you won't find cheaper anywhere else!) that can be sold at higher rates in Western countries. For example, some of the latest trends are pocket bikes, scooters and generic electronic goods. These goods do not have to have a brand name in order to sell well and they can be purchased wholesale at very good prices if you are serious about importing from China.

This should give you a heads up if looking at dealing with wholesale suppliers in China! Remember, always keep an open mind, ask questions and do your research!
