There are various records and information that some individuals wish to keep confidential. Medical records are just some of this data. Thus it is not surprising to learn that someone wants his or her medical information be kept private specifically if their health condition is sensitive. Since there has been several complains about the leakage of medical information not only by ordinary individuals but celebrities as well, the US Congress approved HIPAA or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The law implemented in 2003 aims to guard the interest of the patients in maintaining the confidentiality of their medical information. In addition to that, any health professional authorized or not, cannot divulge the health information of a certain patient without asking permission to the direct individual concerned.
The patient should be notified first of how his or her medical information is to be used before the authorized employee of the health care provider can use the records. Here are some more important facts you should know relating to HIPAA.
1. Who are involved in HIPAA Secrecy Law?
Not all institutions are obliged to follow the HIPAA policies. Only individuals and institutions that deal with information regarding health cares. These may include hospitals, insurance companies, pharmacies, nursing homes, doctors, nurses and other employees who have direct access to the said records of the patients.
2. How about the Exempted?
Not all insurance companies are obliged to follow the HIPAA regulations. Life insurance companies, for instance, do not need to coordinate with HIPAA law, as well as institutions like law enforcement agencies.
3. Knowing one's Medical Information
For instances that the patient asks to see or review his or her medical record, it would be very easy. As covered by HIPAA, the patient has the right to such a claim. If there will be any adjustments needed to be done according to the patient, they are to be done without hassles. No one has the right to disclose any information of the medical condition of a patient even the doctor or nurse attending to the patient unless the patient has consented.
4. Helpful Tips
The hospital, doctor or nurse who takes care of the patient's need can share the condition of the patient to people whom the patient has given permission, most probably close friends and members of the family. In some cases where the patient's condition will not allow him or her to know the real condition of his health, family members will be informed without the consent of the patient as long as it is for his own benefit.
Confidential information such as health conditions of the patient must remain private and secure to avoid any leakage. HIPAA has been implemented to shield patients against people who use medical information of some patients for their own gains. Any violation of HIPAA has equivalent penalty that will be applied to the violator. These things must be disclosed to health care providers' staffs, individuals and companies that deal with health care issues.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA was enacted on 1996 to provide security to the privacy of the important medical data of patients. All workers having access to the medical information of patients have to take HIPAA training in order for them to be educated about what this privacy law is all about. This training will provide knowledge about how to follow adequate security whenever they handle, process and transmit health related information electronically.
Virtually all business entities are covered by the HIPAA Privacy Law. And because of this, all businesses are required to provide sufficient training for their employees. Included in this post are the top 5 benefits of HIPAA training.
1. All health-related business entities are covered by the rules and regulations of the privacy law. Therefore, all associated health care businesses including health care providers, health insurance entities, medical suppliers and medical law firms need to embrace and comply with the rules included in the privacy law. Complying with the privacy law does not only keep said businesses away from penalties and fines, but will likewise help build a professional impression. When a particular business entity has employees that are adequately equipped with updated HIPAA training, most likely the people would think that this particular establishment can be trusted.
2. Providing HIPAA training to employees can help entities get rid of possible fines and penalties. Not complying with the rules and regulations set by HIPAA can lead to business license suspension, or worse, termination. Once a health care provider or its employees are caught under violation, the entity or the person violating the law can be charged of civil or criminal penalties. Penalties vary depending upon the severity of the offense done.
3. Patients' private medical data files which are being saved electronically via a computer system are being protected. The data can be secured by a strong password, powerful antivirus software and system firewall. With all this in place, the information cannot easily be hacked and accessed by unauthorized people. In addition, if the patients' medical information is being held as a hard copy, it has to be placed in secure places.
4. Instructing employees to update themselves about the most recent HIPAA policies on their own can be an impossible task for them to complete. Chances are, not all employees can remember to read nor attempt to thoroughly understand the HIPAA policies and that would mean they are being left behind when recent policy modifications are made. However, if you choose to enroll your employees in a HIPAA training course, they can be able to understand the privacy law and likewise they will become more updated with the latest policy modifications.
The training can be done inside a room or perhaps via the internet. You can find a number of online websites offering online HIPAA training course on the internet. However, you need to be very vigilant in choosing the right online company. Choose the company that can offer quality training at an affordable price.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA regulations aims to have patients' medical information remain private and confidential. Should there be certain person, health care provider or insurance company worker who wrongly shares any information, penalties can be handed out accordingly. Penalties are applied regardless if the leak of information has been done on purpose or merely accidental. Commonly, people who are proven to be guilty of an information leakage can be fined and put into prison.
To guide you and to answer any queries you may have regarding violations of HIPAA, it would be best to seek the advice of a licensed lawyer. Here are some of the common HIPAA violations that should be avoided.
• Staff - In every company or healthcare provider, there are people who are directly responsible for processing and saving all the data of their clients and patients to their system for documentation purposes. Some of these staff members pass along their work to co-employees who are not authorized to have direct access to the patient's information. Even the issuance of medical information to staff members who are not allowed or required to do so is a clear HIPAA breach.
• World Wide Web – The majority of the people all over the world are getting wired nowadays so it is easy to gain information through the internet. A lot of insurance companies and health care providers manage websites of their own where they keep personal and medical information of their clients for theirs and their clients' accessibility. However, revealing medical information of a person on the internet without direct consent from the party concerned is a big violation of HIPAA. One example is the event where the information of a woman who had undergone an abortion was publicized on a website that is against abortion.
• Safety Issue - One of the many violations of HIPAA committed is when the files and medical information of the patient are not set up with proper security. For instance, information can leak when another employee who is not supposed to have access to the medical information is able to read the records of a patient because the computer is left exposed or open. This incident could cause a misunderstanding of the patient's condition and that info could then circulate between family members because of the wrong understanding from the onset of the information read from the computer by someone passing by.
• Media - Public figures often experience HIPAA violations through the media. For example, sometimes unscrupulous people sell medical info to newspapers, television, radio and magazines about popular actresses, actors or politicians just to make money. This is wrong and violates policy.
Any kind of violation mentioned above has its equivalent penalty that varies whether the violation is done on purpose or by accident. HIPAA implementation has benefited a lot of people particularly those who have critical health issues. These violations should be avoided to prevent any penalties as well. Learn more to avoid mishaps in your business today.

The human body is composed of different organ systems, and they all have specific functions to keep the body work normally. When it comes to the discharging of hormones in the body, the endocrine system is the main system in charge of such a process. However, if there will is a malfunction in one of the organs of the endocrine system, certain diseases like hypothyroidism and diabetes can be a result. These diseases can be severe and life threatening at times, particularly if not treated right away. What you should do to avoid such a dilemma is to retain the health of your endocrine system. The following tips will be of great help in this endeavor.
• Much of the diseases suffered by a person are acquired through genetic transfer. Various diseases including endocrine ailments are hereditary. In this manner, whether you have a feeling or not that you have a health problem it is advisable to trace and know the history of your family. Discover if your grandparents or your ancestors have suffered any ailments that could be hereditary so that you can figure out ways to prevent your body from suffering from such diseases.
• In case of the endocrine system, too much stress can increase the rate of the production of hormones resulting to its overproduction. This overproduction of hormones will affect the different organs of the endocrine system thus the system will not function normally anymore.
• In case of diabetes, discipline on food and drink intake must be watched carefully and monitored. Keep a record of proper eating habits, home remedies and other safety measures that can help ease any endocrine ailments you have.
• To keep your endocrine system healthy, you need to ingest enough fluids. Drinking around eight glasses of water daily can help wash out toxic materials from the body. Water can also help flush out excess sugar that causes diabetes.
• Staying healthy will never be complicated as long as you follow a well-balanced diet. Once the endocrine system organs do not receive the proper amount of minerals and nutrients or there will be an imbalance of nutrients, illness like type II diabetes can develop. This health problem can cause the sufferer to be blind and develop kidney problems.
Ask for your physician's advice to know what foods you should eat and avoid. You may also ask your physician about any safety measures you need in order to avoid having illnesses connected with your endocrine system. Do not worry about telling your doctor everything about your condition as you are protected by HIPAA or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Knowing the different organs and systems of your body as well as their functions can help you realize how staying healthy is important. The endocrine system, if abused or not taken care of, will not only malfunction but will cause the development of chronic and incurable diseases. You can possibly avoid all health problems including those that are connected with the endocrine system by just eating healthy foods partnered with proper exercises every day.

There has been a lot of medical information leakage that has happened in the United States, and that is why the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was accepted by Congress. The main purpose of this Act is to give necessary protection to patients' information about their medical condition. Aside from the said protection, patients and clients of insurance companies can easily have their medical information readily available for them to go over. Another benefit of HIPAA is that one can make any update or correction to his or her personal information anytime.
Not all health care workers are fully aware of the latest HIPAA info. That is why HIPAA training courses are mandated to health care providers and insurance company employees and employers. Here are the right ways to properly disseminate HIPAA information to the public.
• Convey to the public that all patients are entitled to read, know, learn and review their own personal medical information for (or within) a period of 30 days upon their request. Should there be any changes or alterations needed, it is allowed by the law as long as it is done to the patient's personal record. Only the patient and the health care staff members are permitted to have admittance to the patient's records.
• Make it known to any patient that he or she will be able to receive notice from HIPAA notifying them of their right to know their medical condition. In addition to that, they also have the right to understand how health care provider employees will utilize their documents. It should also be mentioned in the notice the name of the individuals permitted to access the patient's medical record.
• The patients should also know that all their medical data and records will be kept confidential and will not be shared with any insurance company, individual or institution without their permission. Everything will just be between the medical professional and the patient, and no information should leak to the public. No institution or individual will be able to use the patient's medical records for their own gains like promoting certain medications.
• There are health conditions that are somewhat sensitive that must stay private. Only the patient and the health care professional can know all the information particularly in chronic or delicate cases. Even messages sent through emails or via voice mails are not allowed for the patients' protection.
Any employee of insurance companies, health care providers or any individual that is proven guilty of wrongly sharing any medical record of a patient will receive a penalty according to their violation. The punishment varies according to whether the violation has been committed intentionally or accidentally.
To further increase everyone's information regarding HIPAA, various seminars are provided by the government and health care providers disseminating the information needed. You may also check popular online HIPAA training website pages for course schedules. Everybody is entitled to medical data privacy. Learn more and see how this affects your business, workers, clients and self. And find out more about HIPAA and its other features and benefits that are offered.

Rating: PG-13
Length: 118 minutes
Release date: April 12, 2013
Directed by: Jon Van Dyke
Genre: Drama
Stars: 2.5 out of 5
"Not Today," known by its compelling tagline "none of us are free if one of us is enslaved," is a powerful low-budget film that is quickly rising in popularity all over the world. The film is directed by Jon Van Dyke, a previously unknown director who dedicated an immeasurable amount of time and energy to this project. His compassion for his fellow human beings shines through in this film's disturbing plot, which is based on events that really happen every day in India.
The plot revolves around the young and rather obnoxious Caden Welles, who comes from an extremely wealthy family and feels like the entire world is his oyster. As just about any wealthy 20-year-old person would, Caden Welles is very irresponsible as he lives a life of luxury and enjoys the success of his father. His self-centered lifestyle continues in full force as he travels to India with his friends on a whim, looking to continue his endless party in Hyderabad, which has earned a reputation for having plenty of opportunities for a young man looking for fun in all the wrong places. However, when Caden refuses to give money to a starving man, Kiran, and his hungry little girl, Annika, his world comes crashing down around him when he cannot escape from his heavy conscience and the haunting images of the needy family. Unable to continue his luxurious lifestyle while the images of the starving man and his small daughter are burned in his memory, Caden returns to the place where he first saw them in an attempt to make things right.
Unfortunately, Caden does not end up feeding the family and leaving with a clean conscience. To his horror, he learns that Kiran was finally forced to sell his own daughter in an attempt to at least get food into her belly as well as feed himself before he succumbs to starvation. Caden, who now knows about the thriving human trafficking trade that few Americans can even comprehend, is torn between turning his back on a problem he never knew has existed and doing the right thing for once in his life. Caden finally decides to abandon his lifestyle and join Kiran on an unlikely quest to find Annika and rescue her from the horrific life that has always been her expected destiny. Finally feeling like his life has a purpose and spurned on by his friendship with Kiran and the prayers of his family at home, Caden embarks on a dangerous journey to change the life of an innocent little girl forever.
It is immediately clear that "Not Today" was lovingly produced by people who are filled with compassion for those in need, especially in countries that rarely provide opportunities for citizens who desire to escape from poverty. Friends Church Yorba Linda, a small congregation that revolves around the mission of educating India's impoverished population and ending human trafficking, worked hard on the production of "Not Today" alongside director Jon Van Dyke. Unfortunately, in spite of the love and care that went into this film, the acting and storytelling do fall short at times, and audiences who are expecting a masterpiece will likely be disappointed. Caden is so unlikable at the start of the movie that it is very difficult to sympathize with him when he begins his journey to rescue Annika, whom many moviegoers likely would have immediately helped. The fact that it is so hard to feel anything for Caden makes the movie's occasionally slow plot move even more slowly, as Caden's massive character development is more of a relief than a compelling part of the story.
In spite of the movie's downfalls, moviegoers who do not have high expectations of a movie directed by an unknown director will likely not be terribly disappointed. Viewing this movie as an educational piece set to a story with fictional characters is sure to make the movie much more enjoyable. At its core, that is just what "Not Today" is. It was not produced as a regular film meant to entertain a disconnected audience. "Not Today" is meant to show its audience a world that is often thought of as no longer existing. While "Not Today" is not a perfect film by any means, it certainly does what Friends Church Yorba Linda intended for it to do. It is important to note that "Not Today" is the proud winner of several awards, including Best Narrative Feature at the Pan Pacific Film Festival, Best Feature Narrative at the Peace on Earth Film Festival, and Best Justice Film at the Justice Film Festival.

Most well known to fans as Chazz, actor and writer Calogero Lorenzo Palminteri was born on May 15, 1946, in the Bronx. Being a grandson of Sicilian immigrants, young Chazz led a difficult life. As a youngster growing up in the Bronx, Chazz learned many of the life lessons that later served him well in life. After graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School, he began pursuing an acting career. In order to hone his craft, he studied at the Actor's Studio. Finding it difficult to break into acting, he supplemented his income by working as a bouncer at local nightclubs. During the early 1980s, Chazz appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions.
By 1986, he had decided to try his luck out West. Upon his arrival, he found he was particularly qualified for tough-talker roles. During this time, he landed parts as hard-nosed cops and slick attorneys in television shows such as "Matlock," "Wiseguy," and "Hill Street Blues." Among his first film roles was the part of a gangster in the Sylvester Stallone film "Oscar."
It was not until 1988 that Chazz received what became his big break when his one-man show "A Bronx Tale" premiered. He had originally penned the production after he was fired from a club when he refused to let a well-known agent enter. "A Bronx Tale" was directed by Jerry Zaksand and ran for eighteen weeks. Among the most impressive elements of this one-man show is the fact that Palminteri portrays the role of eighteen different characters. Actor Robert De Niro came to see the show when it ran at Playhouse 91.
De Niro, desiring an opportunity to make his directorial debut, saw ample potential in this project. After developing the concept into a big-screen version, De Niro co-starred in the film with Palminteri. For his part, Chazz portrayed the role of the gangster Sonny. When the film first premiered, although Chazz was still relatively unknown, he had refused to sell the rights to his production unless he was able to write the screen version and appear in the film. De Niro supported him fully. When the film version was released in 1993, it received strong reviews. In both the film and the play, Palminteri is depicted as having personally witnessed a murder as a child.
Palminteri went on to land a number of performances in dramatic films such as "Jade," "The Perez Family," and "Diabolique." Displaying the breadth of his talent, Chazz also appeared in comedic films including "Analyze This" and "Down to Earth."
Although Palminteri is often most well known for his performances in "The Usual Suspects" and "A Bronx Tale," he also made an appearance in a number of commercial advertisements, including one in which he portrays the role of a mob boss. Palminteri has also developed a career as a voice actor, lending his voice in a number of animated films, including "Hoodwinked." In 1994, Chazz received an Oscar nomination for his work in the Woody Allen film "Bullets Over Broadway." He portrayed the role of the hit man Runyonesque in the movie.
In 2004, Palminteri was given an "Indie Hero Award" for his achievements in film. The award was presented by the Method Fest Independent Film Festival. Palminteri's most recent appearances have included performances in "Running Scared" and "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints."
Palminteri has also made cameos on television, including a guest-starring role on the hit sitcom "Modern Family." He reprised his role on a subsequent episode one year later, in 2011. In the summer of 2010, Chazz also began to make regular appearances on the popular crime series "Rizzoli & Isles." In the series, Palminteri portrays the role of Frank Rizzoli, Sr.
While Palminteri has shown an interest in a wide array of performing arts, he has also made it clear that he is interested in other pursuits as well. In 2011, he opened his own restaurant in the Little Italy neighborhood of Baltimore. The restaurant, Chazz: A Bronx Original, specializes in Italian food and coal-fired pizza.
Today, Palminteri makes his home in Bedford, New York. He has stated that he is a very devout Roman Catholic and is married to Gianna Ranaudo, an actress. The couple has two children. Their son Dante Lorezno was born in 1995. Daughter Gabriella Rose was born in 2001. A spirited New York Yankees fan, Chazz frequently calls in on a popular sports radio station.
Palminteri is next slated to appear in "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father." He will portray the role of Paul Castellano.

Length: 101 minutes
Release date: 1 June, 2012
Directed by: Ken Loach
Genre: Comedy/ Drama
Stars: 3.5 out of 5
"The Angels' Share" (trailer here) is a 2012 dramatic comedy based on the lives of a man named Robbie and his closest friends. Robbie has taken his share of kicks in life, and he makes a vow to his newborn son, Luke, that he won't have to endure the same. The movie opens with Robbie and his new friends being sentenced to community service. Robbie himself very narrowly escapes serving a lengthy prison sentence due to the mercy of the judge. In exchange for prison time, though, he must complete plenty of community service. While fulfilling his court-mandated obligations, Robbie meets several other men in similar situations and the motley crew joins forces to change their lives for the better. That change comes through an unlikely source, alcohol.
In the first scene of the movie, Robbie stealthily enters the local hospital to visit his much younger girlfriend, Leonie, right as she is giving birth. Rather than getting to see his new son at first, Robbie is intercepted by her rightfully protective family members and has to break in just to see and hold his son for the very first time. This is the turning point for Robbie. He realizes that he simply can't continue living his life the way he has been and he must turn over a new leaf for the sake of his son.
Robbie learns from the tour guide on a celebratory distillery tour that he is something of a savant when it comes to picking out the aroma and notes within fine whiskey. This creates a rabbit trail of events that leads the group to seek out the Malt Mill, a particularly old and exquisite cask of whiskey.
When the sins of Robbie's old life come back to haunt not only him, but his new family, he decides to set out on a mission to steal the Malt Mill and start anew. His friends agree to help and each receives a dose of life lessons in return.
Robbie, played by Paul Brannigan, is a likeable yet flawed character with whom audiences can relate. He doesn't always make the right decision, but he always has the best of intentions. His friends are equally if not more endearing, particularly John Henshaw's portrayal of Robbie's blundering best mate, Harry. Gary Maitland's absurd character, Albert, adds much needed comic relief. Jasmin Riggins' daring portrayal of Mo rounds out the stellar supporting cast.
One of the most appealing parts of "The Angels' Share" is the fact that each of the main characters sets the story into motion. Without Mo arranging a theft of important documents detailing the location of the Malt Mill, the movie's primary plot would have been impossible. Harry's actions also contribute significantly to the pace and movement of the story.
The most impressive aspect of this film is the slow transformation of Robbie both as a man and father. While he once viewed himself as the toughest guy in the bar, he realizes throughout the film's progression that he was more of a child than anything else. In spite of having enough years under his belt to know better, he behaved as though his actions held no consequence. In reality, he would end up paying those consequences many years down the line, and in order to prevent the ones he loves from sharing in them, he is willing to change his life. Some viewers may object to the unconventional and amoral nature of this change. However, the overall message of the film is about growing up and doing what's right for those who depend on you.
Many audience members will be able to relate to another of the movie's themes, redemption. Robbie is a deeply flawed man who realizes that meaning well just ceases to be enough at a certain point. His past seems inescapable at first, but if he and his friends are both daring and loyal enough, the universe soon provides a way out. Robbie is forced to confront his own fears and put his best interests aside for the first time in his life to focus on someone else. He desperately wants a better life for his son than the one his father provided for him, so he is willing to take risks and grow as a human being.
Despite having a fairly controversial premise, "The Angels' Share" is a heartwarming film with just the right amount of comic relief to pull off its serious plot points. Robbie and his friends are relatable, and the circumstances they find themselves in are so over the top that the film holds new surprises at each turn. Fans of other dramatic comedies like "Trainspotting" and "Ted" will have to find room for "The Angels' Share" on their shelf of favorites.

Article Title: Movies Making a Splash at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Since its founding in 2002, the Tribeca Film Festival has served to bring together an eclectic combination of established filmmakers, actors, and incredibly pretentious fans with relative unknowns and the cream of the senior class from NYU's film school. Somehow, it also manages to remind the world that Hollywood doesn't have a lock on the all-consuming corporatization of independent film. This festival lacks the internationalist pretense of Cannes, just as it is deficient in the outrageous tsunami of raw cash that's always been on display at Sundance. No, Tribeca is essentially and distinctly a New York affair. If large, days-long celebrations of cinema could have an accent, the Tribeca Film Festival would talk like Joe Piscopo.
So there's a big film festival in New York. It's going to attract respectful press notices and make a big pile of money, as usual, but what's really there? Digging around a bit, it looks like three films are going to generate some buzz this year. Usually, "buzz" at a film festival means rumors about which director just signed a million-dollar contract with Miramax or even which actor just plea bargained down to misdemeanor public nudity, but in this case genuine interest seems to be buzzing around these movies. Here, then, are the three films most likely to make a splash at this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
"Adult World"
"Adult World" is the first, and in many ways the most obvious, entry on this list. Remember how Tribeca is super New York. Here's the plot of "Adult World": Emma Roberts plays Amy, an aspiring poet who suffers from crippling social anxiety. On this Earth, people who match that description are lucky to get dishwashing jobs and live in flophouses, but in the world of movies that are popular at Tribeca, this means she has to land a job at a local sex shop. John Cusack arrives to simultaneously act as her poetry mentor and to remind everyone he was the guy from "Say Anything." Amy becomes ever more comfortable in her role as a fleshlight distributor and eventually comes of age as a mature poet or something.
"Alberi"
Some people are just dying to know the ins and outs of arcane pagan customs that have survived in the modern Christian Europe. "Alberi" scratches that itch by showcasing a nearly extinct ritual that's haltingly still practiced in southern Italy. In the outskirts of the village of Satriano, men have spent the last zillion years going out into the woods right before Carnevale and dressing up as trees covered with ivy, because why not. "Alberi" is only twenty-eight minutes long, so there really isn't enough time for audience-friendly exposition, leaving director Michelangelo Frammartino bathing the audience in sound and fury. The visuals alone are haunting, and the score seems to have been composed and arranged by a race of superior alien beings who have come here to elevate mankind. The ritual, like all rituals these days, is dying out as younger people decide for some reason that dressing like a tree and running around in the woods is weird and a waste of time. What this means is that the ritual will probably either stop being a thing within one or two generations or survive largely as a minor tourist attraction. Which of these is sadder depends on who's telling the story, but it can't be denied that an ancient pagan rite loses some of its magic when there's a concession stand within five minutes' walk.
"Almost Christmas"
Okay, first things first: Paul Rudd is awesome. Also, there's no Canada like French Canada, and when the two come together, their respective awesomeness is expressed by exponential notation. "Almost Christmas" accomplishes this by casting Rudd as a wastrel drifter and womanizer who just stole the wife of ex-con and general maniac Dennis (Paul Giamatti). Honestly, not much actually happens in "Almost Christmas," but in the very best way that nothing really happens in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." The entire film revolves around the personalities involved in the non-action and how very long an uncomfortable moment can stretch between enemies who can't escape each other's presence for a minute.
It will be seen that each of these films is a melange. Some classic cinema seems to have influenced each, which tries to bring newer elements to the mix. There could hardly be a better melting pot for this kind of filmmaking than the original melting pot itself of New York City.

Standing at the podium was an attractive, middle-aged woman of medium height. She looked at me, smiled and continued her lecture.I felt the audience's annoyance at my late arrival and I angrily thought to myself, "I want to be late,OK?"But after a few moments the meaning of what the woman was saying caught up with me. She told us about her ability to see things before they occurred and how she was able to give what are called "readings" to people.
She explained that she was born with the "gift of seeing," that each and every human being had the ability to develop those same talents. She spoke of God, angels and spirits, of different dimensions and different worlds.I was just beginning to think that I'd wasted the entire morning when she decided to give us a demonstration of her natural abilities."
She asked if anyone in the audience had ever seen or met her before in person. No one had. Beginning with the back of the room, she pointed to people at random and told them a little about themselves and their lives. To one especially nervous woman, she said, "Your friend Elizabeth will be getting married soon and will be moving out of the area. She is so concerned about her sick mother that she needs all the support you can give her. Do you understand what I mean?" The woman was simply astounded. "Yes! Yes! That's so true," she stammered.
After a few more "readings" she turned to a tall, dark man somewhere in the middle rows. "The trucking business which you are about to start will become a tremendous success," she said. "Watch out, however, for one of your partners—the short one with the beard and funny hat. He will try to take control of the company away from you. Do you understand what I am talking about?"
"That's amazing," said the man, "Absolutely amazing.
There's no way you could know about my trucking business and my partners," and he kept shaking his head in astonishment.
By this time,I was becoming very excited about the possibility of my turn. June pointed to a few others and gave each of them some important bits of information, but totally ignored me. Perhaps, she's disregarding me as punishment for my tardiness I thought with paranoia, but I knew that couldn't be the reason.
Finally, because she'd been speaking for such a long time, she asked if someone could bring her a glass of water. Here was my opportunity to be noticed. Up I jumped and rushed to the water fountain in the hallway. Using a paper cup,I hurriedly brought June some water. Surely now she would notice me and tell me something about my future. Again I was wrong. Not one word did she say to me.
As the lecture came to an end, I sat there, progressively more dejected. After she thanked everyone for coming, she looked at me and said, "Young man,I'll see you later. What I have to tell you wouldn't be understood by anyone here, least of all by you." I was surprised, but happy to have the chance to speak with her in private.

The days rolledslowlyby, summer blending into autumn. Those lovely, lazy, fall days when all you want to do is sit under a tree and dream of far-off horizons and distant shores. I hadn't seen or heard from Gideon in a while and wondered what had become of him.
Although he'd made a strong impression on me, I preferred not to analyze it. I was somewhat familiar with what he'd said, since I had read books about these ideas. I even had some friends who were considered to be psychically gifted, but still Gideon had a different effect on me. He'd spoken of the awesome potential of the human mind and of how we only used a small portion of it. He'd pointed out that most people were content to be left in their misery and that these same people refused to see the very light that would change their misery to joy. I could almost hear his voice again as he spoke to me that day in the park.
A close friend of the family would be visiting soon. June Mareena Ridley was a very special friend. She was a clairvoy- ant, a person who could see events before they happened. At parties and get-togethers, she would do "mind stuff" that never ceased to amaze everyone.
I met her many years ago when I was completing a graduate business degree, part-time, at a major university. I had just finished my last class of the evening and was leaving when a poster on the bulletin board caught my attention. It stated that the internationally renowned psychic, June M.Ridley, would be giving a lecture and demonstration in the auditorium at 10:30 AM the following day.
Never having met a real psychic, I thought it would be interesting to see one in action. At that time, I was employed by a small manufacturing company and had responsibilities in the production area. Because I was new at the job, it would be difficult to leave during regular working hours to attend the lecture.
At work the next morning, however, a nagging, uneasy feeling came over me. I had a strong urge to attend the lecture. It was as if I was being pulled to go and listen to June. The more I tried to overcome the feeling, the stronger it became. Finally, I gave in to the compulsion. Giving a feeble excuse to my boss, I then drove as fast as I legally could to the university.
It was shortly after 10:30 AM when I arrived and the lecture had already started. I intensely dislike being late. Generally, I arrive for an appointment early and would rather wait in a parking lot or reception area than be even one minute late. This time, however, I couldn't help it.I rushed into the auditorium. Almost every seat was occupied. In the front row, however, there was a lone, empty seat which I quickly took. It was so quiet in the room you could hear a pin drop.

I sat glued to the wooden bench. I had known that he was strange, but not this strange. I never really took him too seriously before, but now he was dead serious. On occasion, I did wonder how he knew things about me and my work that I hadn't told him. I'd heard about such people before. I had also not discounted the possibility of meeting one, in fact, I had hoped that I would someday.
Yet, when one sits next to you on a park bench, your initial reaction is to run away—and as fast as possible. But sitting there with him,I actually felt an aura of tremendous power around him and thought I should probably give this encounter a bit more serious consideration.
"You speak as if you're from another world,Gideon. You also seem to have strange abilities and powers. Why are you spending so much time with me?What do you want from me?"
"My abilities are no stranger than yours or anyone else's. They may appear strange to you because you do not understand them. When you understand natural law, nothing is strange, nothing is a miracle. I have been around helping others for ages. Or better yet, throughout time. There is an old earth saying that goes, 'When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.' You're ready, so here I am."
"Who? Me, a student? I wasn't looking for a teacher. I've had my share of teachers and don't want to take any more exams. As it is these days, I am already being tested to the limit. Teachers and students imply tests."
"So you think you've learned everything and have no further need for teachers? If you're so brilliant, how come your financial empire is falling apart? Listen. All of life is an examination, a learning and testing experience, if you will. You examine and test yourself constantly. A little help now and then wouldn't hurt, you know. There are things I still can teach you. No, let me rephrase. There are things I could lead you to learn. Things I could help you to remember."
Part of me really wanted to believe him. The other part was the scientific, analytical part, which was very cautious. That part said that he was crazy. And yet,I've seen few men who appeared to be more sane than he.
"Show me something a small miracle or so, and I'll believe what you're saying."
"Believe and I'll show you. You have things reversed, John. I see we have a lot of work to do."
In a quick change of direction,I asked, "Where's your car? Where are you parked?"
"There are many other ways of traveling. I don't really need a car."
Again he was lying, I thought. The first time I met him, he was in a car.
As if reading my thoughts, he said, "When you saw me the first time, I did have a vehicle. I needed something to get your attention. So the car, the engine problem, the lifted hood. . . all props, all effects for your sake. You wouldn't have stopped to talk with me any other way."
All this in such a short time was becoming too much for me to absorb. As I mentioned earlier, it had always been my desire to meet someone like him. In books and dreams I had come across some, but here and now in a park in this small town? This was an entirely different matter. And why did he pick me?He still hadn't answered that to my satisfaction.I was quiet for a few moments.
Gideon continued, "I have known you for eons, for millennia. You are a challenge to me. One part of you accepts these ideas totally and with full understanding. Then there is the other part of you that sees only with eyes and hears only with ears. That part tries to analyze, rationalize and compromise. You are a man of many parts, Mr. H."
Gideon's reference to knowing me for ages was a surprise, but I had read about such things before and chose not to pursue it at this point. Not being in a big hurry to return to the office, I thought that I'd listen to a little more of what he had to say.
He spoke of seeing with the inner eye and of hearing with the inner ear. That all life forms were connected to one another by invisible ties. That the universe was like a spider's web, where thought or action in one area affected the entire fabric.I listened, fascinated by the new possibilitieshe brought to my mind. Finally, he said, "It was good seeing you again, John. We will continue our discussion at a later date. Meanwhile, keep an open mind. I bid you a fond adieu."
I looked at him and then at my watch. When I glanced up again, he was gone. It couldn't have been more than a second later yet, he was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps I had fallen asleep on the park bench and dreamed it all. But no! A few yards away was an apple core he had left for the birds. It was time to return to the more mundane aspects of life, so I got up and walked back to the office.

"One of your problems, John, is that you hurry too much. Yesterday in the parking lot, you were in a rush. Today at lunch, you're in a hurry again. Take some time to enjoy life. Everyone has the same measure of time, you know. Twentyfour hours a day. It's what you do with your time that's im- portant."
I really didn't think I needed to be preached to today, but I wanted to be as polite as possible. "It's easy for you to say," I replied, "I have responsibilities, you know. A business to run—things to do. Sometimes the burden of it all gets to me."
"Only if you let it. And everyone has responsibilities.
Do you know that the word responsibility could mean 'ability to respond'? Do you have a business to run or do you have a business that runs you?"
For someone I was meeting for only the second time, he certainly had a lot of opinions about me. A good philo- sophical discussion, however, always brightens my day and besides, there was some truth in what he had said."You seem to have things nice and easy," I quipped. "Where do you work and what do you do, anyway?"
A strange look came over those dark eyes. "Actually I'm a trouble shooter," he said, "a jack-of-all-trades, if you will. What you'd probably call a consultant for my company, if you know what I mean."
"And your company?"
"It's called G & M Enterprises, Inc. It's not the car company. I'm sure you've never heard of it."
"Can't say that I have. Is it a large corporation?"
"To a certain extent—very diverse—in many countries. World headquarters inthe BigCity with branch offices throughout the country."
"What do they make or do?"
"Somewhat of a service company, more or less."
Sensing his reluctance to offer more information and not wanting to be rude I asked, "Are you on vacation now?"
"No. Actually, I'm on assignment. I'll be in this area for a little while."
"Do you live around here?"
"Not really. Just passing through. After completion of my current assignment, I'll be on the road again."
"Well, I hope they give you a better car," I said with a laugh, remembering his problems of the evening before.
He smiled, and changed the conversation back to my work. "So things aren't going too well with your business?"he asked.
"We've been struggling for a long time, a real long time, Gideon. There are times when we think we see light at the end of the tunnel, but more often than not it's a freight train. It's tough." I was surprised to find myself speaking this way to a stranger. I normally don't share my problems with those who aren't close to me, but somehow this time seemed different.
"Why struggle? A seasoned swimmer does not struggle against the water. He flows with it, using it as a means of reaching his goal. Don't struggle, just follow the flow. Let the river of life carry you."
The restaurant was mostly empty now.In between our conversation we'd managed to finish our brief lunch. Only two tables across from us were occupied. I glanced at my watch. It was time to go. But my strange friend wasn't ready to leave. He gave me the impression that he wanted to tell me something. Again, I had that sense of foreboding—not quite foreboding, but almost like I was getting involved in things for which I wasn't ready nor prepared. I paid the bill and he of- fered to pay his share, but I refused. He thanked me and got up.
"Do you have a business card?" I asked. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a card and handed it to me. "Thank you. I must say good-bye now and get back to that crazy job I have," I said.
"Be grateful that you have a job to go to," he replied. We walked to the door and went outside.I hoped he wasn't setting me up for something. I'm somewhat of a pushover when I like someone and I was beginning to take a liking to this stranger.
As we said good-bye I told him I hoped we'd meet again soon. He nodded and said, "Who knows? It really is a small world." He turned, waved and left.
I walked back toward my office. All during lunch I felt an aura of kindness and, strangely enough, power around Gideon. Now back in the sunlight, theapparent mystery seemed to vanish.
The afternoon passed smoothly without as many difficulties as the morning. Several times I glanced through the window into the parking lot where I'd first seen Gideon. Perhaps, we'd meet again.
There was going to be a little dinner party at my house this evening. Just a few friends and neighbors getting together to enjoy each other's company. It was beginning to get dark. Possibly a storm was on the way, I thought. You never can tell with the weather these days. I decided to leave early to reach home before the rain came.
I was about to pull into my driveway when all the driveway lights went out.I thought, perhaps, the impending storm had something to do with it. Then the storm broke. Such fury of wind and rain I've rarely seen. The rain was a sheet of white water alternating with the reflection of brilliant flashes of lightning. The blasts of thunder reminded me of the legends of the gods on Mount Olympus hurling thunderbolts at their ene- mies. I could hardly see as I drove up the driveway and, since the electricity was out,I couldn't open the garage door either. After parking the car, I rushedinto the house, getting drenched in the few seconds it took me to do so.
All was dark inside except for the areas lit by the few candles Mardai had found. Our dinner guests arrived and we made the best of a poor situation. We ate by candlelight and marveled at the many faces of nature. "It seems really strange to me, John," one of the guests remarked. "What seems strange?" I asked. "The fury and nature of this storm. I just telephoned a neighbor down the street and he said that it didn't rain there." "Didn't rain there? A few blocks away? How can that be?"
"And all their lights are on," he continued.
It was strange to see a storm that occurred in only a few squareblocks. For no apparent reason I thought of Gideon. Immediately there was a blinding flash of lightning and all our lights came back on. We discussed the storm for a little while longer.Personally,I seemed to connect it with something having to do with Gideon. Yet, that made no sense. To read the rest of the story visit http://www.spiritual-simplicity.com

I think everyone enjoys the thrill of discovery, the inner joy of unearthing some previously undetected gem of thought, idea, or philosophical concept that one is certain will soon becomeimmensely popular and widely heralded. I had that thrill and joy of discovery in 1985 when my dear friend John Harricharan sent me his "just finished" manuscript for my opinion.
The manuscript bore the superficially humorous, but spiritu- ally challenging title, When You Can Walk on Water, Take the Boat.
I knew from my first read-through that the world would soon be hearing a great deal about this beautiful little book. I perceived that this marvelous, modern parable would seize the imagination and the hearts of hundreds of thousands of readers. Today, more than a decade later, with its worldwide acclaim, its many awards and prizes, my initial assessment has been proven accurate over and over again.
In my Introduction to the first edition, published in 1986, I praised the manner in which John blended universal truths with effective storytelling techniques. The first-person narrative depicts a series of crises and triumphs within the world of commerce, which coincided with a pilgrimage of soul in the higher realms. Throughout the text, John Harricharan the author and "John," the narrator, keep encouraging us to continue to pay our physical dues and to continue to learn and to grow. Through a powerful progression of dramatic lessons, "John" comes to understand that all the pain, chaos, and confusion is actually trying to teach us that we chose to put on the fleshly clothes of Earth to fulfill a mission of spiritual growth.
All of the chaotic, swirling energy around us can be interpreted as quag-mires of death and depression—or as opportunities for life and learning. And now, many years after I penned the introduction to the first edition of When You Can Walk on Water, Take the Boat, I am honored to have been asked once again to serve as the "host" who stands at the portal of this unique and fascinating work--and I am more eager than ever to invite new readers to explore its depths and wonders.
Just as we all love the thrill of discovery, I am certain that we would all like to meet some remarkable sage like the mysteri- ous Gideon, whom John, our narrator encounters within the pages of this book. And that, of course, is the timeless enchantment of an extended allegory such as When You Can Walk on Water...Through the magic of entering the vision that John Harricharan has trans- lated onto these pages, we may each of us join him on a spiritual pilgrimage that will lead us to the goal of higher awareness and greater enlightenment. A. Vishwanath: Yeah, I've a last question, John. You know I want all our listeners on this call John to visualize their moment of glory in the next few minutes. So, if you can help them do that, you know, they'll get a taste of their own greatness and it will paid away for prosperity and peace to enter into your life. So, can you give them a small dose of the magic of feeling the peace?
John Harricharan: Yeah. First of all, as I said earlier, many of us or many people would like to think of themselves not a special anybody but as little clods of clay. And yet when we do that we discount the greatness in ourselves, in our souls, in our beings. We are unique in all of eternity. There has never been another Vish or another John or another Tom or Jean or Mary as the people who are listening.
You are unique beyond anything else. This world would have been such a sad place, had you not been there. Now, that you are here and you start thinking about it, I would like you to remember the moments of your greatness. I wrote this, I think, in the book called, "When You Can Walk on Water Why Take the Boat." I would like you to remember the moments of your greatness because it is in remembering the times of your successes.
The times when you were happiest that you become even more successful and even happier, and it doesn't really have to do with thinking as non-thinking at times, it goes beyond thinking into a feeling. It is not even visualizing. It's just getting quite within yourselves telling that voice that's going at 1000 miles in hour in your head, or a 1000 kilometers in hour your head.
Just telling it for a little while getting quite and listening to the sounds of the universe in your mind and feeling that you are unique, you are just a special person and you have a place here, and there is a reason you're here, and you've got a duty. And probably, the duty might not be anything beyond being who you are as brilliantly as possible.
And then, turning around and saying thank you. Not thank you to any being or spirit or anything, but just letting go of everything and just being grateful for being here. You start doing a little bit of this and you will find that every day you get a little better, you feel it little better, things work out a little better for you. Flowers grow where you walk, the rain doesn't fall as hard when it doesn't need to and you will find yourself and evolving into the greater spirit that you have always been.
You've never really being at a clod. You've always been a great person. And you need to know that. You don't need others to tell you, you need to tell yourself. And if you do that you will find a power within you uncommon in ordinary times. You will find an energy coming up within you that you have not found before.
And it'll be like the great writer said "You have opened the door where -- through which your splendor, your greater splendor will arise." And the imprisoned splendor will come out and you will shine so beautifully, so brilliantly that your light will touch every other being you come in contact with. And in so doing you will become even better and greater. So that's all I have to say to them today, Vish.
A. Vishwanath: Thanks. Yeah, thank you, John. That was, you know, absolutely terrific and you know, I actually love the way, (inaudible) marketing had started the seminar with saying, I am going to lead with content and promote with passion. And you know, I hope today myself and John, we have been able to do that for you.
And you know, we look forward to having you on our future calls and becoming a gold member of spiritual simplicity and helping yourself and the world to be a better, more wonderful and a peaceful planet. God bless. Thank you.
John Harricharan: Thank you.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Yesterday was a fine day, a really great day, at least, the start of it. As is my usual routine, I started the morning writing, then making phone calls. Next, I checked email. There were many-- several from readers of my books. Some took the time to express thanks and wanted to know what other books I had written. They spoke of life-changing insights; they thanked me for providing them the opportunity to read my works. They wanted more. I felt good, really good.
It got better. By lunchtime, there were a number of orders for my "PowerPause" system. The ordering system worked perfectly; I was hearing from excited affiliates who were excited. The positive feedback on my products was encouraging and rewarding. I leaned back in my chair and smiled. Yes, things were working; life was good.
And then it happened. I checked my email once more before quitting for the day. There, buried among all the wonderful notes was a short email from someone who had purchased a "PowerPause" kit the week before. It said something to the effect that he wanted a refund and wanted it right away. "Your 'PowerPause' is not for me," he continued. "It did nothing for me. I know all the things you talked about. I've read them before and am way beyond such simple stuff. Just give me back my money."
I stared in disbelief at the email on the monitor. I printed it out and read it again. A sad feeling came over me. All kinds of thoughts flowed through my mind. For a moment, I thought, how could he NOT like my product? After all, thousands of people have benefited from it. Why couldn't he understand? Did he need to be so insulting? Look what he did; just look what he did to me.
Had this been a few years ago, the next few hours would have been quite unpleasant. I would have just focused on this one, unfortunate event. I would have ruined my entire evening by allowing thoughts of rejection to possess me. Rejection, at any level, is unpleasant.
But I have learned over the years that events of this nature were not a rejection of who I am and what I do. That customer really didn't do anything to me. He just did what he did because it was his nature to do so. He had every right to do what he did. Didn't I offer an unconditional guarantee? Didn't I specifically state, on my website, that if someone didn't find the "PowerPause" useful, I'd refund the money, no questions asked? Why should I be upset if one person took advantage of my offer?
In business, as in other areas of our lives, we oftentimes face rejection. It becomes much easier to deal with if we remember that we are not rejected because of who we are but because of who the other person is. If we understand this, and if we do not personalize it, life would be much calmer, more peaceful and certainly more productive.
Author, Richard Bach had already written a number of books when he sent his new manuscript to a major publisher. It was promptly rejected with a note attached as to its quality. But he kept on keeping on, and seventeen or eighteen rejections later, his manuscript was finally accepted by Macmillan. It was Richard's positive way of looking at life that made him keep on. I am sure that rejection bothered him a bit. But the publication of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" resulted in Richard Bach gracing the cover of Time magazine. And from what I've heard, his meaningful books have touched the hearts of millions of readers.
Yes, rejection is tough. It doesn't matter whether the rejection comes from a customer, a business associate, a friend, husband, wife, lover, customer or a total stranger, it still hurts. If we possess any sensitivity at all. it's natural for us to feel bad. The trick is not to mind too much, not to focus all our energy and time on saying, "Look what they did, just look what they did to me."
Just remember, there's no one else on earth with your talents and your abilities. No one else can do what you do. You are unique, a special person-- someone whose hopes and dreams span eternity itself. Don't let rejection bring you down. Just interpret it slightly differently from the way you're accustomed to and you'll find that your journey through life becomes much more pleasant.

Over time you will see that photo depreciate due to dilapidation of the photo paper or perhaps poor storage. Now for most, that may seem a sign of antique or aging photos but with the right software and photo editor, you can restore old photos and make them look like new ones.
It may take some time for these photos to bring back the shine and original quality that it once had but the thing is you can. It may take some time and liven up those supposedly old photos and surely they will be a joy to look at afterwards.
For photographers, taking candid shots can be enhanced in a way to capture great photos and allow them to become pictures that will surely be something out of the ordinary. That is just the thing about photography, it is not always about the shot alone but rather on what you make out of it.
As far as livening them up and coming up with great end image products, you will be surprised at what you can produce. Colors, effects and other potential effect elements in a photo editing software can make all the difference. Everything lies on the person behind the keyboard to enhance it all.
When you open Adobe Photoshop, you are bound to try out all the things you can do with your photos. This includes checking out the various effects on the source file itself. They are not easy to apply if you don't know the actual use of each effect. You really have to play around with them as much as possible to get the best output you can get.
For a work to be art, there should be a message, a feeling, a reason the artist made the work because he or she wanted to say something, even if how I interpret the statement is different than what the artist meant.
While many of us end up staring at pictures blankly, you can do a lot of artistic output on them if you think about it. The controversy about whether photography is art is one that has been raging in the art world for a long time and we are not likely to totally solve it here.
But it can be an important decision you have to make if you are considering a career in photography with the goal of producing quality art works. Now the primary objection to whether photography is art sometimes is that a photograph is often a realistic depiction of a moment taken with a machine and some would say that "anybody can take a picture."
As far as editing images are concerned, you will encounter problems as far as accidentally saving them to the one you are editing. Software can easily reclaim lost or missing photographs from various cases of accidental losses of data. There are utilities that can help to demonstrate whole recovery process in an easy to use and interactive way.
There are a lot of them out there and you just have to pick the right one. Once you do, rest assured you no longer have to worry about the original file that you erroneously edited. Any software that can recover images can make sure of that.

The Federal Government has released plans to offer a bailout offer for lenders who are experiencing the brunt of the housing crisis. Housing market experts warn that this would be a bad move for the government for it would only encourage a recurrence of the problem in the future and would only provide a temporary solution to the current difficulties. The weakening dollar does not offer any positive signs as the federal government itself is constantly adjusting rates just to prevent a total lapse into a nationwide recession. This would further tax the population and cause more harm than good. What they do decide to do would be up to lawmakers but they better decide quick for people are loosing homes faster than they are built, leaving them with more debt than they started with in the first place.
Yes, it sounds crazy but the current problems the housing market is having as the effects of the bad sub-prime loans crisis of last year it is quite an innovative idea. And it is all done through the internet, taking the real estates business into the High-tech world of the internet. The advantage reach and low costs in deployment are good for home based real-estates people for all you need is a computer and a connection to the internet. Many have seen the benefits of swapping their properties for ones they like but cannot afford in exchange for their current house who someone else may like to own. This is good news for the real estates business for all the negative press and news has sent the industry down the drain into recession.
People who have been wanting to purchase a house for the first time are getting wet feet due to disturbing news and trends that can be seen all over the internet. When house prices started falling, many jumped on the bandwagon and started buying only to end up loosing their investment early in the fight. Others who were cautious faired well for they got the time they needed to see the trend which showed the sharp drop in new house prices and the accompanying mortgage foreclosures that followed. This prompted more prospective home buyers to halt their plans whilst they waited for the rut the market was in to clam down. Those who were facing foreclosure are advised by many experts to take advantage of bailout options offered by lenders and other financial institutions rather than to loose everything all together.
Another newcomer to the real estates market, the internet-based appraisal system allows you to get the best possible appraisals for your property from realtors. Get information from public records regarding properties and get the ho-down on its history. It is nice to get news from time to time for the bad news regarding the housing market just keeps on coming with no end in sight. Innovation is helping struggling buyers ,sellers along with realtors on the internet in hopes of getting small successes in the gloomy state real estate has been in the past few months. The real estates market hit a 12-year low where there are more houses than people are buying. Those who choose to buy are either holding off till the gloom fizzes out or till predictions get prices down to the lowest they will ever be.

Strategy is something for the big corporations. Why all this talk about mission, vision, long term goals? Many companies do not have any strategy or they are just in the head of a few people within the company. So if that is the case, does a Home Business owner really need a strategy? To answer this question letĄŻs first define what strategy is.
When thinking about strategy think about terms like long term plans and goals. A strategy guides you to a certain aspiration. These do not need to be defined in monetary values. Actually, the mission of a company is rather a short and inspiring description of what it should aim for. When a company knows in which direction it is headed for, the goals are formulated and the strategy turns long term measurable goals into short term goals.
A strategy has many functions. It is used as a form of communication and it gives the company a direction. Without it decisions are made ad hoc and without any purpose in mind other than short term goals.
Having defined what a strategy is does a one-man Home Business really need a strategy? Definitely it has no real value to have a thick book describing the whole strategy of the company. But parts of it could help the Home Business owner. Decisions are made on a daily bases, so a strategy could help taking the right decisions and see if the dream the owner has comes true. Without a strategy a company operates ad hoc, from day to day, without knowing what it wants to achieve in the long term.
A succinct strategy would include at least the following:
1) What should your company be in 5 years ¨C give a short description.
2) Translate the description in a few measurable long term goals.
3) Break down those long term goals into a few steps ¨C these short term goals should also be measurable.
4) Decide a time table what to do and when to reach what goal.
Now that you have a summarized version of a strategy you have a good guideline. But always revisit your plans every year and see if you need to update it. When you notice that you are not reaching your goals, examine why and take corrective action.
With the strategy in place you are more on top of your business and are likely to make better decisions and reach the thing you aimed for.

Did you ever hear of company blindness? It means that you do not see what goes wrong or what could be done better. This happens due to several reasons. Many times people get blind because they work somewhere for a long time and do most of their tasks the same way as they already did for many years. It can also happen that you just don't have that certain expertise. And you know what they say, what you don't know you cannot influence, however incorrect it is what you are or aren't doing.
Especially when you have your own business, and this can be a Home Business, it is important to be surrounded by other people. These people should have preferably other talents than you have. However, you started your Home Business on your own and you might not want to have other people involved. Or maybe you just don't know anybody who would be able to help you or would be interested in it. But we are not talking about a full time employee or partner. You just need someone you can talk to, who knows your business and listens to you and gives you an opinion.
A much used phrase is, it is lonely at the top. This is not only valid for the top executives of large corporations, but also for the Home Business owner who works alone. Successful people usually have their own coach and are surrounded by experts. How else do you think a top executive was able in the first place to get that demanding position?
So the message of this article is clear. Get your team of experts and/or coach. Where to find them? If you do not have anybody among your circle of friends who would fit go to a forum with like-minded people. Stick long enough at a forum and you will find so many people who can answer all your questions. In the end you will get to know some people better than others and some are just as you interested to talk about their business. As mentioned, what you don't know you cannot influence. You will need to find somebody who you can level with on a more personal base. For sure there are people out there that would love to talk about your and their business. Form a group and make an agenda to meet each other on the internet or in person. It will definitely be a learning experience for all and you might even find that a deeper contact with other people can be very refreshing.

The pharmaceutical drugs for rheumatoid arthritis often have severe side effects from stomach discomfort and diarrhea to kidney malfunction. People who take the pharmaceuticals for this condition often find themselves in the lab frequently having their blood work monitored carefully. However, this is why there are rheumatoid arthritis alternative therapies. Especially with the high levels of side effects that drugs have and even the discontinuation of several drugs by different companies, the use of rheumatoid arthritis alternative therapies has increased. Rheumatoid arthritis can greatly affect someone's life. It can result in the inability to use your hands, walk, or do simple daily tasks. Therefore any rheumatoid arthritis alternative therapies that can help are greatly appreciated by the sufferers of this illness.
The most common therapy is hot cold therapy. This means that heat is used on the affected area for about fifteen minutes to reduce the inflammation and then cold is used for fifteen minutes to help control the pain. The most common herbal supplement used for rheumatoid arthritis is Glucosamine. Glucosamine is known to aid in the repair and health of the joints. The second most common herb that does the same is Chondroitin. There is also something called MSM. This is a sulfur based anti-inflammatory that is said to work just as well as the typical medications. TO try and slow the progression of the disease and not just symptom relief is Niacinamide.
This is supposed to maintain the health of cells and therefore slows the progression of the illness. It is otherwise known as Vitamin B3. Rheumatoid arthritis alternative therapies are available at most health food stores and pharmacies. Although they each have their own benefits and are proven to be helpful, it is mentioned that when taken together in a combined supplement they are the most beneficial. Acupressure is a common physical treatment that can help with the pain or arthritis. It works by placing pressure on specific places on the body. This can be done by a trained therapist, or techniques can be taught and done at home. Rheumatoid arthritis alternative therapies are readily available and most are not very reasonable priced. They are definitely gaining in popularity every day.
Hip complaints are generally felt as pain in the groin, hip, or in the buttock, although it may spread into the thigh and knee. Pain is usually worse when walking, rising from a chair, and lying on the affected side and can be exacerbated by warmth.
The causes of hip complaints and associated pain are manifold and include arthritis and previous joint distortion. Mechanical dysfunction of the pelvis, lower back, or knees can also cause hip problems, and occasionally infection may be at the root.
Reflexology may be described as a specialized form of massage of the feet and - less commonly - of the hands. Performed to detect and correct "imbalances" in the body that may be causing ill-health, it is, however, much more than simply massage.
Alternative names for reflexology include reflex zone therapy and zone therapy. There are several variant forms or extensions of the therapy, including Morrel reflexology. Perhaps the most widely divergent among them, however, are the Vacuflex system and the metamorphie technique.

Rent to Own is simply as it says: a piece of property is rented to a person, and if the person completes the period of rent, the ownership of the piece of property is turned over to him or her.
Rent to own is applied differently in the Philippines, as living spaces can be leased under this type of agreement. Apartments are offered on a very long-term lease to qualified tenants, and if they complete the contract 20-30 years or so - the deed for the apartment can be turned over to them, making them the owners of the property.
Cheonse / Jeonse is a means of leasing out apartments unique to South Korea. A tenant makes a lump-sum deposit on the rental space, valued at anywhere from 50-100% of the actual market value of the space.
The tenant then pays no rent for the duration of the contract, usually two or three years. At the end of the contract, the landlord returns the entire deposit to the tenant.
Cheonse is most often used during times of high interest rates. The landlord is free to use the deposit, as long as the same amount is returned to the tenant.
This term simply refers to a property that's being offered for sale at a lower price than what it should normally get, because the property needs a number of repairs to be restored to its best condition.
A house with a large floor area and significant improvements may still be called a fixer-upper if, for example, the house has been neglected or abandoned for several years, needing to be remodeled to be fit to live in again.
This allows the seller of a property to accept a buyer's offer for that property, which the seller continues to sell. If the seller gets another offer, he or she can also accept that offer, and then activate the clause by notifying the original buyer of the second offer.
The original buyer now has a specific period of time - which can be more or less than the stated 72 hours - to complete the requirements to buy the property. Failure to do so will mean the original buyer loses the property, and the second buyer can purchase it.
Because we're curious masochists, we decided to answer that question. But first we had to establish what constitutes a "higher" commission. Higher than what? While traditionally the seller has offered the buyer's agent 3% of the final home price and reserved 3% for his own agent, the very existence of a standard commission has been hotly disputed. Again, some notes from the fray: Realtors from Canada to Florida insist that a standard commission doesn't exist, while professors from Berkeley and the Hudson Institute insist that it does.
Of course, Redfin's business model demonstrates that it's possible to charge different commissions. But Redfin has always been careful when listing a home to encourage our clients to offer the buyer's agent 3%, even while accepting a lower fee for ourselves. In this at least, we're like everybody else. We analyzed commissions paid to buyers' agents for all broker-listed residential homes sold in King County in 2007, and found that 79% paid commissions of exactly 3% to buyers' agents. Whether 79% adoption constitutes standard behavior or not, it is certainly common behavior.
The average commission, factoring in the lower and higher commissions as well, was 2.88%. The chart below (source: NWMLS) shows the average commission grouped by list price of the house. Most agents will tell you that the commission as a percent of the list price is lower for more expensive homes. We found this to be true: for list prices above $2 million, the average commission started getting closer to 2.5% than 3%.
