When it comes to the perfect answer for 'what causes acne', experts will just give a plain answer and it goes like – 'the exact cause of acne is not known'.
Acne is actually the visible end result of hormonal, bacterial and inflammatory disturbances that occur at the level of pilosebaceous follicle or oil pore.
For most people who suffer from acne, it begins at puberty. During this stage, human body starts producing some hormones known as androgens. These help in enlargement and extra stimulation of the sebaceous glands in people prone to acne.
Some women may get acne during their menstrual cycle or pregnancy due to sensitivity to these androgens. The over production of sebum by sebaceous glands tends to mixing the oil with dead skin cells and bacteria on the surface of the skin. This results in blockage of pores.
Bacteria multiplies in these blocked pores and result in inflammation that ultimately leads to the spots and pustules associated with acne. Most people apply harsh materials on their skin to get rid of acne but make it grow worse.
The acne bacteria, biologically known as propionobacterium acnes tend to grow and multiply the retained oil. The sebum acts as a source of nutrition for the bacteria. The bacteria release chemicals inside the pore. The chemicals work towards alerting and alluring white cells from the blood. This leads to inflammation. You can see inflammation on the skin in the form of pimples or zits.
Once these inflamed hair follicles and glands enlarge, the surrounding skin becomes inflamed and also results in larger lumps and cysts known as nodules.
Inflammation of skin can also result in damage of cells that create collagen. When collagen production is reduced, the skin thins and seen as depressed scars.
Here are some common causes of acne:
a) Stress
Excess stress can increase the production of acne enhancing hormones such as cortisol. This aggravates the skin of these having acne.
b) Genes
Acne is often genetic.
c) Medication and Steroids
Certain medication and steroids tend to aggravate acne.
d) Heavy or oily make up
A lot of makeup or oily makeup can clog the pores with harsh chemicals, giving an opportunity to bacterial growth and multiplication.
e) Over abrasive cleansing
Most astringent based facial products can dry out the skin resulting in over production of sebum. Using harsh exfoliation can also damage existing spots and spread infection.
f) Playing hard
Most people try to pick or squeeze blackheads, whiteheads and spots that can result in deeper infection in to the skin, causing scarring.
g) Inflammation
Inflamed skin is characterized by redness, warmth, swelling and discomfort. It occurs due to the immune system of the body that acts to get rid of a foreign element.
h) Rupturing of wall
The walls of the blocked follicle usually rupture. Oil, dead skin cells and bacteria usually found on the surface of the skin and irritate it. This results in small areas of inflammation.
i) Deeper a blockage of pores
Deeper blockage of pores results in a damage path. This way, the oil gets collected in the skin resulting in small flesh colored or white colored bumps. Whiteheads usually result in red colored inflammations known as pimples or zits.

Acne can be quite embarrassing. Most people feel that they have lost their control over breakouts. People often visit a dermatologist in hope of getting their problem treated. However, most people don't realize that natural remedies are as effective as other prescribed medications. If taken regularly, these may also prove very powerful.
Body requires adept nutritional balance and proper skin care. Once you try these remedies, you will certainly notice a difference within four weeks. Here are some effective treatments to heal acne.
a) Honey
Try applying a honey mask on your face once or twice a week. Honey is full of antibacterial properties. It will work towards disinfecting and healing minor blemishes. The best part is that honey is gentle on sensitive skin.
b) Use acne soap
It is important to wash your face with a sulfur based soap specially designed for acne at least twice a day. Wash your face when you first wake up in the morning and then just before you go to bed. You need to be very gentle on your skin while washing. Never ever scrub or use a rough cloth. Remember that over washing your skin can stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum; thereby increasing your acne.
c) Keep your hair off your face
If you keep long hair or bangs, pull your hair off your face. Remember that your hair contains some amount of oil and may increase breakouts.
d) Go for a good multi-vitamin
If you have acne, then it means that there is something wrong with your body internally. Your skin depends entirely on nutrition. In case, your body is not receiving the right type of nutrition, it fights back. You should take a good multi-vitamin in order to reduce the production of a lot of sebum, clogging of pores. This will also increase the ability of your skin to heal and fight bacteria.
e) Go for chromium
You need to include chromium in your diet. It aids weight loss and also heals skin infections. If you take at least one chromium supplement a day, it will help in healing your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
f) Eat Carrots
Eating carrots will provide beta carotene or vitamin A to your body. This strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and also prevents acne. It reduces the production of sebum. This vitamin is an essential ingredient for the maintenance and repair of the tissue that the skin and mucous membranes are made off. It is also a powerful antioxidant that helps your body get rid of body toxins. Remember that deficiency of vitamin A can result in acne.
g) Don't wear make up
If you leave traces of make up products on your skin, it clogs pores and results in a good number of pimples and blackheads. If you really want to wear makeup under unavoidable circumstances, it should be water-based.
h) Drink a lot of water
Drinking at least eight glasses of water is very important for clear skin and overall health. Water will remove waste material out of your body.
i) Never squeeze or pick your blackheads and pimples
You may sometimes get tempted to squeeze scratch, rub or touch your pimples and blackheads. If you do, you are actually increasing the production of sebum. Squeezing also ruptures the membranes below your skin and results in infection and sebum to spread under your skin.
j) Wash your pillow case
Your face lays on your pillow case everyday. It absorbs oils coming out of your skin and attracts dirt resulting in skin breakouts. You must wash your sheets and pillow case daily.
k) Zinc
Include food rich in zinc. It is an antibacterial agent and necessary element in oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can cause acne breakouts.

Acne is a common skin problem. People try several remedies both home made and those available widely on the market for eliminating this problem. The sad part is that there are several misconception associated with this disease.
If you want to understand acne better, you need to sort it out through fact and fiction. Here are some common acne myths and the parts related to it.
Myth 1: Acne results due to irregular cleansing of skin.
Fact: You should understand that acne is not caused due to unhygienic skin conditions. Acne is a disorder of hair follicle, biologically known as pilosebaceous unit. The follicle has a tendency to trap a lot of oil, bacteria and dead skin cells.
The results are in impaction. In case, the follicle wall ruptures, inflammation occurs thereby, resulting in a pimple. So acne is not created due to lack of cleansing. Remember that frequent cleansing will not heal this disorder. On the contrary, washing the face too often will irritate acne.
Myth 2: A lot of topical medication will clear acne fast.
Fact: It is important to know that slathering a lot of medication is not going to heal acne any faster. Experts feel that using too many acne medications frequently and more than one at a time will harm your skin. Your skin can even suffer from peeling, redness, excessive dryness and or irritation.
Try to use the exact directions given on the meditation label carefully. You need to exercise patience as it takes a lot of time to see results. Contact a doctor if you don't see any results after using over-the-counter treatments for several months.
Myth 3: Dirt trapped inside the pore results in black heads.
Fact: A blackhead is actually a collection of dead skin cells and sebum that has created a worm-like plug inside the pore. The top portion of this impaction is not covered by a layer of dead skin cells. It is actually exposed to air. The black top of a blackhead is misunderstood as dirt.
Exposure to air changes the oil impaction in to a dark brown or black color. The process is much similar to a slice apple exposed to air that turns brown. Blackheads are a result of an excess of oil within the follicle.
Myth 4: It is important to scrub your face on a daily basis if you have acne.
Fact: People suffering from acne like to scrub their face frequently in the hope that scrubbing will get rid of this problem. They believe that cleansing the pores deeply will provide them a clean feeling. They try all sort of stuff from washcloths cleansers to scrubs. This never helps. It actually results in irritations that makes the skin worse and also create some degree of inflammation.
The best thing to do is to treat your skin very gently. This reduces friction and irritation of the skin. You should stay away from excessive rubbing or manipulation of the skin. Don't rub your face unnecessary. Avoid leaning the face on a hand and excessive use of telephone.
Myth 5: You can't do anything about acne.
Fact: There are wide varieties of different treatment options available to teat acne these days. You can go for topical creams, oral medications and a lot more. Visit a dermatologist for verifying the treatment that's suit you the best.

If you are going on a weight loss program, it is very important to focus on an effective diet plan. All your workout sessions and cutting down on certain food items or abstaining from food for several days will go waste if you don't eat the right diet.
Almost all diet plans (effective ones!) are based on limited amount of carbohydrates, high caloric products and fats. When going on a diet plan, you can relish good food options such as roughages, green leafy vegetables and good stuffs with less calories.
Experts believe that one should follow a diet designed to lose at least 1-2 pounds in a week. Weight loss is easier at this rate. It is also healthy and provides long lasting results. You must plan accordingly and allot proper number of weeks for dieting the 1-2 pounds losing rule each week.
Under such a plan, if you want to lose about 10 pounds, you would require at least five weeks of dieting in order to guarantee healthy weight loss.

We all know that fruits and vegetables are a crucial part of our diet if we want to live a healthy and vibrant life. But how many of us struggle to get them in day in and day out? I do not know about you, but I never seem to get enough in each day. My life gets busy and, to be honest, sometimes I just don't know how to make vegetables more interesting and favorable that I WANT to include them in my diet on a daily basis.
Getting into the habit of preparing fruits and vegetables at every meal, even for snacks, can help to reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, some cancers, diabetes, hypertension, and stroke. But how can we do that?
First, I think it's important to make a commitment to fresh fruits and vegetables. If you're not in the habit of eating plenty of fruits and vegetables everyday, this can be quite difficult in the beginning. But as you make a conscience effort on a daily basis to make sure you include them in your meals, the easier it will become.
Second, it's crucial to find a few easy and tasty recipes for vegetables that you enjoy. Surf the internet or go to your local bookstore and find recipes you wouldn't mind trying and include them in your daily menus.
Third, learn how to shop for healthy fruits and vegetables. If you want increased energy and a way to improve your mood, try these natural wonders! Fruits and vegetables are full of so many nutrients that it really is foolish to avoid them. Let's learn how to shop for produce: what to look for and what to avoid. Sometimes just knowing what to look for helps us find it!
As a rule, try to get in produce of different colors into your diet. Not only are they pleasing to the eye and make a beautiful plate, but can also guarantee that you get a variety of your healthy vitamins and minerals. Below are some tips to help you shop for produce in order to maximize your nutrition.
1. Buy fresh- Fresh vegetables and fruits that are fresh still have all their nutrients. The longer they sit around, the more nutrients are lost (especially vitamin A and C).
2. Timing is everything- Ripe vs. not ripe. Using your produce today? Buy them ripe. If you are using them down the line, go for ones not as ripe. This will help your shelf life and avoid wasting money by throwing old produce away.
3. Choose bright colors- Intense color = intense nutrients.
4. Run from produce that does not look quite right- Bruised and wilted? Better to pass.
5. Big vs. small- Smaller fruits and vegetables have a tendency to be sweeter than their larger counterparts.
6. Select produce yourself- Try to avoid buying fruits and veggies already packaged. It's better if you can pick each piece of produce yourself to guarantee you are getting the best.
7. Check the weight- Produce with high water content like tomatoes and citrus fruits should feel heavy.
I personally buy produce grown organically and put them in "Green Bags" to keep them fresher longer. Organic produce carries with it more nutrients and more flavor. A tomato actually tastes like a tomato! But whether you buy conventional or organic produce, fruits and vegetables are vitally important to your long-term health.
So go ahead: try the tips above and begin to add flavor and nutrients to your meals with delicious fruits and vegetables!

ADD is an acronym for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a condition where the patient is not able to maintain attention for a good period of time. Other symptoms of this disorder include impulsive behavior and motor restlessness. According to a research conducted, about 4.4% of all adults have ADD.
ADD is classified as a neurobiological disorder usually caused by problems in the dopamine neurotransmitter systems in the brain. Most cases of this disorder are inherited. It is proved that if a parent or a close blood relative has ADD then there is about 30% chance that a child will have ADD. In case of twins, if one of the twins has developed ADD, then there is almost 50 percent chance that the other twin will also develop ADD. ADD is not a result of poor nutrition. It is a disease that develops due to parenting, allergies and drugs.
You need to go for a thorough analysis of your body in order to determine if the person has ADD and not any other health related problem.
When a person is unable to get adequate amount of neuro-chemicals, the brain is not stimulated properly. This makes it find different ways to increase their release. Things including physical activity, movement or anything related to stimulation are different ways. People with ADD stimulate their brains. In short, there is a good amount of reflex to their inadequate reception of neuro-chemicals. This makes people with ADD act in a particular way. They are literally unable to control their actions.
There are many problems this action causes to people with ADD when they face a situation that does not stimulate them such as school work. This results in poor performance in the classroom. Actually, a person or child with ADD cannot help indulging in a particular act. It is simply out of their control.
People with ADD cannot stay in a particular relationship or staying employed. These people with ADD may do things to stimulate themselves. This can be reckless and dangerous. This is the reason that results in complicating their live with legal problems.
Some steps to cope with and healing attention deficit disorder
ADD is a serious disorder. It results in depression, relationship inattentiveness, and behavioral problems. These problems can eventually lead to drug abuse, suicide and alcoholism. Here are some important steps to follow in order to correct it:
a) Education
Understand that ADD is caused by abnormalities in the cortex region of the brain. These are mostly genetics.
b) Medical attention
Do not wait at all. Get medical aid on an immediate basis.
c) Nutrition
You should eat a well balanced diet. Try to take multivitamins and drink plenty of water. Multivitamins are a necessity as many of the foods we eat lack in nutritional value. Take omega's supplements.
d) Hydration
You need to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day for proper mental functioning.
e) Plan
Use a day planner. Keep a track of things you need to do on a daily basis. This will eliminate stress and anxiety.
f) Learn
Believe in the art of memorization and studying. Exercise learning memory techniques like associations, linking, lists etc.
g) Meditate
Stress and anxiety can make the condition worse. Prayer and meditation can benefit ADD sufferers.

Sexual addiction can be defined as an obsessive sex drive that has gone out of control of the individual. It is termed as a process addiction & quite different from substance addiction such as alcohol or drug addiction.
In case of a process addiction, the individual experiences a high from chemicals released in to the brain & not from any external source.
At a stage, the mind gets accustomed to the release of these chemicals & it searches out for extended sources of high. Now this can be in any form such as eating, putting oneself in dangerous situation or even from sexual stimuli.
Addiction to sex can take several forms such as the use of pornography, masturbation, repeated sexual affairs, voyeurism, extra martial affairs & patronizing prostitutes.
Under extreme cases, addiction to sex can even result in rape, murder or molestation. In most forms of sexual addiction, the behavior is done in secret & the addict becomes an expert in hiding his secret life from others around him.
Sexual addiction can be caused due to exposure to porn at a young age. Under these circumstances, the addict keeps up to his habits even after marriage.
A sexual addict tends to affect his personal relationships. The individual experiences a higher sex drive as compared to his partner & when his desires are not met, he rebels in different ways. When denied for favors, a sexual addict stops providing emotional support to his spouse & ultimately damages the relationship. In most cases, the problem results in divorce or bitter feelings among the partners. The sex addict becomes extremely obsessed with meeting his own needs at the expense of those around him. This damages his relationships.
The problem keeps on increasing for a sex addict. He craves for more stimulation & ends up acting out the fantasies that are formed in the mind. The wife becomes an object of sexual gratification in this relationship. The addict does not mind seeking thrills of an increasingly illicit nature.
Sex addicts often deny having a problem & try to blame others for problems or make excuses for their actions.
Some of the behaviors related to sexual addiction include compulsive masturbation, extra marital affairs, having more than one sexual partners, one-night stands, molestation, sexual harassment, rape, voyeurism, obsessive dating through personal ads, use of prostitutes, phone sex, computer or cyber sex, exhibitionism & consistent use of pornography.
Usually, a sex addict gains less satisfaction from the sexual activity & forms no emotional bond with his or her sex partners. Most sex addicts deny their problem. The treatment is provided only when one accepts that he has a problem. In most cases, the addict faces problems such as breakup of relationship, loss of job, health crisis or an arrest. The circumstances often force the addict to admit to his problem.
While undergoing a treatment the individuals is encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle. The treatment includes education on healthy sexuality, individual counseling, family therapy &/or marital therapy. There are several programs arranged for people with sexual addictions.
In some cases, health care practitioners suggest using medications to treat the disease. Some of the common medications used to treat sexual addiction include Prozac & Anafranil.

Experts believe that addiction & depression take place simultaneously. Most often the addict may feel depressed when he starts using alcohol or drugs. This initial depression often results in adverse stage as the addiction progresses.
Depression can be termed as a terrible feeling where the addict is surrounded by a lot of thought or a farrago of different emotions. Here, the addict feels low & it lasts for about two weeks. This feeling is entirely different from feeling stressed out or sad about a specific thing or situation. This sort of a feeling exists even when there is no reason to feel depressed. The person under depression may not have the idea of when he is feeling low. In most cases, activities that used to capture his interest do not perk him up anymore. Some people even find it difficult to get out of bed.
Here are some of the common symptoms of depression:
桧ne tends to feel depressed almost most of the drug & this becomes a matter of daily routine.
謬he patient loses interest in activities that used to excite him in the past.
桧ne gains a lot of weight or loses a considerable amount of weight.
彦inding trouble in sleeping.
百leeping most of the time.
彦eeling tired almost every day without any reason.
彦eeling worthless or guilty for no reason at all.
彦inding it difficult to concentrate or thinking rationally.
筆oving more slowly than usual.
百peaking more slowly than usual.
膝etting thoughts of suicide or death.
Depression can ultimately lead to addiction. Some people use alcohol or drugs to fight depression they are suffering from. This stage is termed as self meditating by doctors. The effect of alcohol or drugs can provide temporary relief to the person. The individual feels relieved from the feeling of sadness, guilty or worthlessness. However, the sad part is that as soon as the effect of the alcohol or drug is over, the bad feeling returns.
The consequences of depression are bad. Most people suffering from depression often withdraw from social contacts. The even find it difficult to handle jobs or sticking to a particular job for a long time.
People with depression often find it difficult to stay away from alcohol and drugs. They are also unable to pursue healthy relationships as the social expectations are lower.
Sometimes addiction to drugs or alcohol can also lead to depression. Several psychiatric problems are directly related to cocaine. The cocaine abuse can even lead to anxiety, hallucinations, sleep problems, sexual dysfunction & a type of mood disorder.
There is indeed a treatment for depression and addiction. Here, the doctor needs to look at the history of patient. Here, it becomes extremely necessary to keep the patient away from drug & alcohol.
The combination of addiction & depression becomes really challenging to recover. Experts provide special care to the patients in order to get rid of the problem. However, the professional first tries to find out the relationship between addiction & depression.
The best thing to do is to understand the symptoms of addiction & depression & visit a professional as soon as possible. This will provide you expert medical aid on time.
Take a full treatment course as there are chances for the problem to relapse.

Addiction can be defined as a family disease. It is a fact that the entire family suffers with the addict. This is the reason that professionals consider treatment of the family to be the part of the whole treatment of addiction. First, it is important to understand that the tendency to become addicted is genetically transmitted. This is proved by a research that has been undertaken to know the exact reason of raise in the cases of addiction.
When it comes to the family suffering, there are a number of ways a family suffers with the addict. According to a study, about one third of the families in the United States have at least one member in the family with a substance abuse problem. About one-fourth of this problem exists in nuclear family. In such families, there are more chances of divorce, domestic violence, anxiety, child abuse, depression and general medical problems.
When an addict & the whole family gets into the recovery mode, many effects of depression are supposes to go away in a couple of years. However, there needs to be an active participation from the addict, the family & the recovery professional.
It may be quite difficult to deal with addiction in the family as it's hard to see a family member in trouble but one needs to be strong enough to cope up with such troubles. The most important thing to remember is that there are many important issues to explore as soon as someone in your family requires help. First, you need to make out whether you are contributing to the core problem or working towards eliminating it.
Here are certain contributions you may be making to increase the problem:
• Making yourself believe that you are responsible for the whole scenario rather than caring for yourself.
• Getting judgmental towards the addicted person.
• Concealing the addict's behavior & covering up for them.
• Doing certain things for the addict that they require to carry out all by themselves.
• Accepting your lack of control & giving up after some trials.
• Paying attention to your feelings & needs rather than taking care of the addict.
Here are certain important facts that you must know regarding how to deal with addiction:
• The family must suggest some actions to the addict that are required to help him get out of the addiction.
• Individual counseling also works really well with the addict. Here, a professional puts an effort to provide some cool tips to get out of the situation and fight addiction bravely.
• People who are fighting against a drug or alcohol addiction, a variety of detox treatments are suggested and these treatments may be conducted in a hospital, specific clinic or even a treatment facility.
• Certain types of addiction also require adept or special type of medication. For instance, a drug called nicorette helps a lot to those addicted to smoking.
• One can also contact self recovery groups where special help is provided to addicts. Addicts are taught how to recover & maintain their self esteem here.
• Different types of out-patient facilities are also available where the addict is provided adept treatment. He needs to visit where facilities regularly in order to meet their program expectations.
The task of helping an addict overcome his problem may be difficult but with hard work & determination, it is possible.

In order to ensure that we're eating healthy, we need to be sure we are including as many healthy nutrients in our daily meals as possible. Out of all the nutrients out there, do you know which one is most important? Vitamins, minerals- which one would you choose?
Would you be surprised to hear that water is the most important nutrient in our body? Our body is 60% fluid, making water the most important nutrient to our body.
Losing as little as 5% of water in your body can cause headaches, fatigue, confusion, forgetfulness, and an elevated heart rate. You easily lose almost half that amount each day through urination and sweat, so replacing fluid is vital to maintaining a healthy body.
What does water do for the body?
Each part and function of the body requires water in order to operate properly. Without water, no tissue can be formed or repaired and very few chemical reactions can take place.
1. Blood, tears, saliva, gastric fluid, and mucus all contain water.
2. In order for our cells to dissolve and transport vital nutrients, cells must have adequate water.
3. Water dilutes and flushes toxins from the body.
4. Water helps to regulate the body's temperature
5. Fluid lubricates our joints, cushions the body's organs, and makes skin soft.
How do I know if I need more water?
You will be happy to know that your body, more or less, can control its balance of fluids. When your body is low, the sodium in the body becomes elevated. As the brain reads this change in sodium levels, it signals to the kidneys to slow down. It is this signal that makes you feel thirsty. But by the time you feel thirsty, you have already lost about 2 cups of fluid from your system!
How much water should I drink?
To be smart about water intake, it is important to drink water even if you are not thirsty. The recommended daily water intake is 8-12 8-ounce glasses of water a day, but other factors must come into consideration here. If the weather is hot and humid, you exercise, and even the types of foods you eat will require that you take in more fluids. On top of the amount of water recommended, you may want to drink an additional 1-3 cups.
How can I get my water intake in?
Simply by making sure you drink it! Try carrying around with you a water bottle (I never leave home without it!). Choose water with your meals over soda, sip water during your favorite show, or while you are doing work. You will find that when you are in the habit of drinking your water, it is easy to get in your required amount.
Can I only drink water?
No. Teas, lemonade, flavored water- they are all great choices and add flavor to boot. Just stay away from liquids like fruit punch and sodas, which are not good for you, anyways.
It is amazing how important water is to our overall health. Adequate water intake really does have a terrific impact on our bodies, so do your body good: drink water!

You don't have to accept it at all.

Step 1 - The child should be calm
It is very important for your child to be calm way before starting. If your child gets agitated about all that's happening, you need to assure him that nothing is wrong & you are there for him. It would be wise to wait until the child gets calm before continuing. Don't get hyper yourself. If you want your child to be calm, you need to practice patience & keep cool.
Step 2 - Let your child speaks
Give a chance to your child so that he can narrate his story. Don't get emotional. It is important to know all the details of the incident. Don't blame the child. This will discourage your child to tell you anything about a bullying incident next time.
Step 3 - Find out the root cause
You need to analyze what triggered off the bullying. There must be something that instigated the bully to start teasing your child. That will let you find a solution for the whole problem.
Step 4 - Listen to your child
Pay close attention to what you child is saying. Once your child knows that you are not taking interest in his talk, he won't approach you again. Listening to your child patiently & attentively will make him respond better.
Step 5 - Find the solution
Try to find a good solution to this problem with your child. The child should be a part of the whole plan. This will raise his self esteem & boost his confidence.
Step 6 - Role play with your child
Once you brain storm a solution with your child, role play it with him. This will help your child get prepared for a bullying incident that occurs again.
Step 7 - Follow up
It is very important for you to follow up with your child & find out whether bullying incidents are still occurring in his life. Let the child know that you are interested.
Bullying is a serious issue. You need to take proper steps to prevent it. In case, you are unable to do so, the child may get depressed and the whole scenario will affect his studios & other activities.
Following the seven crucial steps mentioned above will help you prevent your child from getting bullied. Make sure that both you & your child are involved to the plan that you make against bullying. Some people understand that they need to live with autism & tend to delve some knowledge on this disease in literature & find out possible treatments. Once they start off with their process of finding treatments, they will come to know that there is a plethora of autism treatments available. However, if you visit a professional, you will come to know that every child has different needs.
Here are some of the common treatments prescribed by the professionals for autism:
a) Speech therapy:
People suffering with autism suffer from inability to speak or converse in a particular language. Some people use poor speech while the others are unable to apply grammar. Speech therapy helps people come over this inability.
b) Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA):
This therapy is the oldest existing treatment for autism. This is also the most fully researched treatment that's specifically developed for Autism. It is an intensive system of reward based training. It emphasizes on providing certain specific skills.
c) Occupational therapy:
This therapy for autism emphasizes on developing skills for daily living. Most people with autism face delays in motor skills. This therapy can prove to be quite helpful. Some of the occupational therapists believe in providing training in sensory integration therapy. It is a type of technique that may help people with autism to manage hypersensitivity to light, touch & sound.
d) Physical therapy:
Autism can be defined as a pervasive developmental delay. Most people experience gross motor delays & some have low muscle tone. Physical therapy can actually work towards building up basic sports skills, strength & coordination.
e) Social skills therapy:
The main problem one faces due to autism is inability to communicate. Most children require assistance for developing skills to hold a conversation. Most children benefit from social skill therapy when it comes to develop peer-based social interaction.
f) Play therapy:
The therapy may sound strange. However, children with autism require special help in learning to play. Playing can serve as a tool for developing social, communication & speech skills.
g) Developmental therapies:
Developmental treatments include RDI or floor time, sun-rise & Relationship Development Intervention. This indicates that they start with a child's own interest & individual strengths. This therapy is used to teach specific skills like shoe tying, tooth brushing etc.
h) Behavior therapy:
Children with autism often feel frustrated. Behavior therapists often figure out the exact reason behind negative behaviors & try to improve their behavior.
i) Biomedical therapies:
These therapies include pharmaceuticals. Doctor providing these therapies prescribe special diets, alternative treatments & supplements.
j) Visually-Based therapies:
Most people with autism are thought to be visual thinkers. Some tend to do really well with picture-based communication system while others enjoy video games, video modeling & communication systems.
Apart from the above-mentioned therapies, some doctors & therapists use medications to treat autism symptoms such as severe tantrums, aggression & self injurious behavior.
However, one requires to practice patience. It would not be wise to expect overnight miracles. Living with autism is definitely not easy. Hence, it would be better to believe in the therapies provided & do exactly as directed by the professional.

Article Title: Natural And Organic Skin Care Products Are Healthier For Your Skin.

The word organic has become popular these days, consumers are willing to pay more for honest and organic skin care products. And they demand these natural products from their manufacturers. Organic means "produced and involving production without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or synthetic chemicals" You need to be sure that your Organic skin care products are safe for your skin and especially when you use it on your face, because our skin is the first line of defence for diseases and illness.
Our face is always exposed to the elements and to other people, it is one of the most sensitive parts of our body. Organic skin care products bring us many benefits and can be used for our face and for other parts of our body.
Organic Skin Care Products, What Does It Mean
You would think that the term organic should guarantee that the product does not contain any substances or elements that can harm us or the environment. That is only true when the term "Certified Organic" is used. You need to look for products with the logo of a certifying body on the label, this is the only way you can guarantee the organic authenticity and integrity of every ingredient in the product. These products where manufactured without the inclusion of harmful substances and chemicals. All of the ingredients are planted, grown and harvested in an organic way, without any harmful fertilizers, pest control products and other harmful substances.
We reduce the risk of harming the environment by using organic skin care products because the way of farming and processing is friendly for all living things around the growing area and because of that it can be called environmental friendly. This is one of the great benefits of all organic products, and not only of organic skin care products. Everything that is organically grown and manufactured has this advantage. Purchasing organic products also help the farmers in sustaining the environment and soil and hereby earning a descent living from organic farming. These products can then truly be called a natural product.
How To Choose Organic Skin Care Products
If cosmetic products call them self organic but don't have a certified organic label on the product it probably is not fully organic at all. These manufacturers most of the time use some organic ingredients but where not able to produce their products without chemicals. It would be logical if these kind of products where required to be labeled as non organic because it is misleading for many people. But without the "Certified Organic" label, the organic claim means nothing, it cannot be verified and most likely it is a complete lie made up by the marketing people.
Personal care manufacturers that meet the standards for the USDA Organic label can use it on their packaging. A hundred percent organic product needs to be hundred percent. A product labeled simply "organic" must be at least 95 percent organic. products labeled "made with organic" must be made with at least 70 percent organic ingredients. And products that have organic ingredients may not call itself an organic product but it may list the organic ingredients on the back or side of the package. So, you need to watch the labels if you want to be sure that you are going to buy organic skin care products.
About The Author: You should care for your skin. It's the largest organ of a human being so don't neglect it. Julia Schwartz shows at http://www.day2dayskincare.com what you can do to keep your skin in a good condition.

Losing weight is not just about cutting calories and exercising like crazy. Losing weight requires a permanent lifestyle change. It is not realistic to think that while you are dieting, you eat exactly what you should and exercise 5 days a week, then after reaching your goal completely turn your back on what got you to your goal in the first place.
Establishing a healthy view on your lifestyle and making permanent changes will set you up for success for a lifetime!
Looking back at my own weight loss, certain things I did really helped me to meet my goals. Below, I have listed the techniques that helped me in the past to lose weight and maintain it successfully. Let's take a look at them and see if any of them can help you on your own road to health and fitness.
1. Start with a food diary. Record what you eat, what you are doing while you eat, and how you felt when you ate it. Get a solid understanding of your eating habits and what triggers your eating.
2. Set attainable goals. Do not expect yourself to lose 50 pounds in a month. This is not healthy, or possible! Make them clear, concise, and reachable.
3. When hunger hits, wait 10 minutes before eating. Cravings do tend to pass, so give it some time and see if this one will, too.
4. Get enough sleep. When we are tired, our defenses are down. This makes it easier to grab a couple cookies or throw caution to the wind. Get the quality sleep that you need.
5. Avoid sugar. The more you eat, the more you crave. It is that simple.
6. Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day. Water helps to cut down on water retention and, if taken before meals, dulls the appetite and makes you feel full.
7. Do not shop when you are hungry. This is a deadly time to shop, and when impulse buys are at their peak!
8. Keep plenty of crunchy, healthy foods around. Raw veggies, almonds, or fat-free popcorn can really help in a pinch where you must eat something!
9. Lose the weight for yourself. Do it for your health and for your satisfaction. If you do it for someone else, chances are you will fail.
10. Make the kitchen off-limits in between meals. This will help cut down on "grazing".
11. Focus on what you are eating. Enjoy each bite and experience your food. This helps to focus your brain on the fact that you are eating, which will help you to avoid eating too much.
12. Substitute an activity for eating. Call a friend, read a book, take a walk. Anything but eating when you should not!
13. NEVER skip meals. When you skip meals, your metabolism slows down. The next time you eat, chances are that you will eat too much and binge.
14. Exercise. There's just no way around it! Try to get in at least four days of cardio and strength training.
I hope you found these tips as helpful. Remember that weight loss and healthy living is not something you do temporarily. It truly is a decision you make to carry on for the rest of your life!

For anyone who has ever had a loved one suffer from this debilitating disease, you know how hard it is on not only the family, but also the person who is experiencing it.
Alzheimer's Disease, named after the German scientist who first described it, is not just "getting senile" or being forgetful. It is a degenerative disease that causes memory loss and impedes the ability to think clearly. The cause of Alzheimer's is not known, but researchers are now identifying certain dietary measure that may slow the disease.
What is Alzheimer's Disease?
Alzheimer's Disease occurs when certain brain structures prevent communication between other brain cells. Damage occurs in those areas of the brain responsible for language and reasoning.
What happens in the brain?
The brain slowly becomes clogged with plaque and tangled nerve fibers that interfere with the functioning of the brain. Memory loss is one symptom of the disease (but do not think that just because you or someone you love is forgetful, that it is an early sign of Alzheimer's Disease).
As the disease continues, difficulty performing simple operations, concentration, disorientation, a lack of physical coordination, and bewilderment becomes apparent. Some even experience personality changes.
Is there any way to prevent Alzheimer's Disease?
Because no cause has been determined, it is difficult to say for sure what can prevent the disease. But a few variables have been identified that could possibly be useful in helping to prevent or slow the disease.
Diet
While research is still limited and findings controversial, it has been said that diet appears to play a limited role in Alzheimer's prevention. One theory indicates that memory benefits from lecithin: a lipid found in eggs. Another theory indicates that aluminum pans may raise the risk of attaining Alzheimer's, but this theory has been largely discredited.
Supplements and Nutrients
There are 5 nutrients and supplements that have been identified to possibly help deter or slow Alzheimer's Disease. They are:
Ginkgo Biloba. This herb aids blood flow to the brain and may slow the progression in the early stages, sharpen memory, and boost concentration.
Vitamin E. This antioxidant may prevent damage to the brain cells due to normal oxidation. It may also shield the cells from the effects of a stroke, consequently making Alzheimer's worse. Some research indicates that this supplement, taken 400 to 800 IU a day, may slow the diseases progression. Try supplementing your diet with wheat germ and vegetable oils to get in your Vitamin E.
B Vitamins. These nutrients are important for healthy brain activity. Low levels of B vitamins, especially B6, are associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Baked potatoes, liver, and bananas, as well as pork loin and sunflower seeds, may help to improve memory.
Zinc. Some studies indicate a buildup of zinc in the brain is associated with Alzheimer's Disease. What is unknown is if this excess zinc is due to the diet or from an existing abnormality in the brain. Doctors and researchers suggest not limiting the intake of this mineral as of yet, but extra zinc supplements should be avoided.
Acetylcholine. Alzheimer patients tend to contain unusually low levels of this brain chemical, which is thought to play a role in learning and memory. Foods high in lecithin or choline could help to boost this most important brain chemical. Try eating eggs, soy, brewers yeast, wheat germ, whole grains, and liver to up your intake.
Alzheimer's Disease is still very much a mystery. The cause and a cure is unknown. I believe proper nutrition and exercise can help to build a strong, healthy body and, hopefully, limit such diseases such as this.

The common cold is as common as white bread. Everyone has had several versions of the cold, so we can all agree it's not fun. The runny noses, cough, sore throat, and pounding head - what a miserable time!
Did you know there are 200 respiratory viruses? That's a lot of virus! With all the viruses floating out there, what can we do to ward off, or at least minimize, the effects of the common cold?
How can I avoid or minimize the common cold?
The best way to beat the cold is to wash your hands frequently and use disinfectants on surfaces such as doorknobs, drawer pulls, telephones, and counter tops. Giving yourself an immune system boost by following a nutrient filled diet can also greatly enhance your
body's ability to attack the cold, thus minimizing the effects of the cold or avoiding it all together.
What kinds of foods should I eat?
Including fruits and vegetables in abundance will help to improve your immune system and its ability to attack invading viruses. Take a look at the list below and try to include as much of these options as possible.
Fruits and Vegetables Rich in Vitamin C & E: These will help keep the immune system strong. Try citrus fruits, strawberries, red peppers, and broccoli. To get a good amount of vitamin E, try sprinkling wheat germ on your cereal, salad, or yogurt.
Fruits and Vegetables Rich in Beta-Carotene: Try dark leafy vegetables like spinach and bright orange fruits and veggies such as sweet potatoes and cantaloupe.
Water: In a dry environment, germs multiply. Make sure to drink at least eight - 8 oz. of water a day to hydrate your body and make it hostile to invading viruses.
OK - So I have a cold. What should I eat?
Below is a list of some food items you can add to your diet to help you get through a cold as painlessly as possible.
Chicken Soup: Research suggests that chicken soup contains compounds that reduce respiratory inflammation, as well as providing hydration for the body. Who knew that the soup our mother gave us as a child actually does a lot to heal the common cold!
Herbs: Echinacea, which boosts the immune system, Goldenseal, and Sage are all fantastic herbs to use when battling a cold.
Zinc: Taking zinc lozenges can help to cut a fever, cough, and mucus build-up especially when taken at the first sign of a cold. The downside is that they taste awful!
Vitamin C Supplements: The daily value for vitamin C is 60mg. Those who recommend mega dosing vitamin C when a cold arises suggest 1000 mg.
Now before you decide to prescribe different supplements for your symptoms, always check with your doctor first. They will be able to give you a thorough check up and recommend certain remedies that are special to your needs.
So, the next time you get a cold or feel one coming on, practice the above dietary recommendations and minimize the effects of the common cold.

How many of us hit the pavement running in the morning: getting the kids up, ready, and fed, making sure the dog is taken care of, handling all the unexpected chaos that always seems to present itself in the morning, worrying about the events of the day.
With so many things to think of, it is no wonder that, many times, a healthy breakfast is the last thing on our mind. It is absolutely amazing how many people neglect to eat a good, healthy breakfast, let alone eat anything at all.
Study after study has shown that having a good, healthy breakfast is vital to good, long-term health. The benefits of eating a good breakfast, to name a few are: more energy, a sharper mind, a better attitude, and a trimmer, leaner you. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day!
Think of a healthy breakfast as putting fuel in your car. You need fuel for your car to run, and so does your body. Eating a healthy breakfast provides energy in the form of glucose. This glucose helps your muscles, brain, and digestive tract.
Studies have shown that those who eat a healthy breakfast have a faster metabolism: up to 4% higher than those who regularly skip breakfast. That is an additional 10 to 15 pounds of weight loss a year without even trying!
How can I fit in a healthy breakfast?
By not snacking late into the evening, you will have a better appetite by the time breakfast comes around. If your mornings are hectic, try preparing your breakfast the night before, or get up a little bit earlier in the morning.
What should I eat for a healthy breakfast?
If you are not used to eating breakfast, it will not be hard to make a few changes for your health. American breakfasts tend to be overloaded with proteins, fats, and sugar. You do not need to go that route. Simply try the following suggestions and see if any might work for you.
1. Cold Cereal: Delicious, nutritious, and easy! With so many cereals out there, you are bound to find one you like. Just make sure it is not overloaded with sugar. Using low fat, 1% fat, or skim milk will make this a quick and healthy choice.
2. Yogurt and Fresh Fruit: Yogurt is full of calcium and protein, and is another quick and easy choice for a healthy breakfast. Yogurt drinks can be taken with you on a hectic morning when you need to eat on the run. Having some fruit along with it will give you the nutrients you need to make it through the day.
3. Smoothies: Add some skim milk, a little tofu, yogurt, and fruit in a blender and mix. Adding a scoop of protein will give you added nutrients to make it through your day. A delicious and healthy breakfast!
4. Bagels: Bagels can add some great complex carbs. Add some low-fat cream cheese or peanut butter and you will have a healthy breakfast that will get you through your morning. Just make sure the bagel is not incredibly large. 2 ounces of bagel is a lean and nutritious choice.
5. Instant Breakfasts: Breakfast bars, granola bars, protein bars, breakfast drinks: they all provide a healthy amount of nutrients, protein, and complex carbs. Just make sure they do not contain more than 2 to 4 grams of fat per serving
These are just a few suggestions of some healthy breakfast ideas. Get creative and shop around to see what suits your taste buds. Remember that by selecting healthy breakfast foods, you will begin your day strong, alive, and healthy. You will be ready to tackle just about anything the day may bring!

All too frequently, fad diets are thrown our way promising quick weight loss without changing our lifestyles. They promise the moon, ensuring that this amazing new diet will revolutionize the weight loss world.
Some sing the praises of eating a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Others require frequent fasting and avoiding particular foods. Others swear by combining (or not combining) certain foods in a meal.
While these "fad diets" are all different, they do have two things in common.
1- They promise fast and easy weight loss, and
2- They completely neglect the principles of proper nutrition.
Most of us know that losing weight is not easy. It requires a great deal of concentration, will power, and at times, planning. But do not let this steer you into the dark world of fad diets! Fad diets can be harmful and sometimes quite dangerous.
Let's take a look at the effects of some of these diets and begin to debunk their outrageous claims.
The "Eat more meat, minimize grains, fruits, and veggies" diet
This diet restricts your carb intake to 20 grams a day. This only gives you one-tenth of the amount of carbohydrates recommended! Without sufficient carbs, you experience a loss of energy, your brain isn't as sharp as it should, you may feel cranky and agitated, and your bowel system takes a beating. Does not sound like a good choice of diet to me!
The "Cut out all sugars" diet
While refined sugars are not recommended, some forms of sugars are OK. Natural sugars found in fruit, honey, whole grains, and complex carbohydrates (which turns to sugar when your body processes the food) are fine. Like with anything, just do not go completely overboard.
The "Cut your calories to 850 a day" diet
This would cut your intake to more than half of what it should be for an average person! I do not think I have to tell you how dangerous this is.
So why do fad diets get so much attention?
Initially, in most cases, you WILL lose weight. But it is only temporary and your body usually takes a beating in the process. These diets are unnatural and not the way our body was programmed to eat.
And truthfully, very few people stick to these fad diets. Those looking for a "fast and easy fix" and who are not willing to make the hard journey toward changing their lifestyle usually are drawn to fad diets, only to find that when all is said and done, all the weight they lost is back. And oftentimes, it is more than when they initially started out with.
The only diets that work are those that focus of healthy foods, low in calorie and fat, with all the nutrients our body needs. Honestly, dieting should not require a complicated formula or excessive calorie counting. Making wise food choices, not over-eating, and exercising enough is exactly what the body needs to lose those extra pounds.
So, what does a healthy diet look like?
A healthy diet will include the following qualities:
Reduced-fat: Fat has an incredible amount of calories as compared to other foods: almost 50% more calories! And more than likely, excess fat is stored on the body for future use. So when you overindulge on fat and do not burn it off, it sits on your body until it is used. Imagine day after day, piling on more and more fat and how easy it can be to gain weight! You must be aware of the amount of fat you are consuming if you want to maintain a lean, healthy weight.
Doctors recommend that the average person should get no more than 20 to 30 percent of their total daily calories from fat. Any more than that, and weight loss begins. Cut back on fatty meats and dairy, fried foods, and high fat snacks like potato chips. You will be on your way to cutting the fat from your diet.
This Phrase is ItalicCarbohydrates: Never doubt this fact: Carbs are our friends! (As long as they are healthy carbs!) Vegetables, whole grains, fruits, legumes, and complex carbohydrates give us a full feeling so we are less likely to over-eat. The body also uses them to burn for energy, which makes them less likely to be stored as fat. A bonus? Complex, good carbs are full of important nutrients our body needs.
Eat in moderation: The biggest problem most people face, and I, too, am guilty of this, is over-eating. Eat in moderation. Do not stuff yourself until you feel full. Stop before that, when you feel satisfied. This is a fantastic tip to learn and get in the habit of implementing!
Another point to eating in moderation is this: you do not have to completely sacrifice the foods you love. Craving a snack that is not the healthiest choice? Then every once in a while, have a little! Most people fail at dieting because they go "cold turkey" on their favorite, fattening foods and end up binging on them in the end. If you allow yourself, every once in a while, to indulge on a little, you will be far more successful at weight loss in the end.
Snack, but wisely! Snacks can be great in curbing our appetites. Just make them small and healthy. An apple, a small handful of pretzels, and some carrots: you get the picture.
Losing weight really is not a new thing. Throughout the centuries, the functioning of our bodies has changed very little. So do not be fooled when a new diet comes along, singing the praises of new findings about how our body burns fat. If you stick with traditional whole-foods, have a variety of them, and indulge yourself every now and then, you WILL be successful at weight loss!

Once thought of as a common problem of teenagers, acne is actually a common problem for people of all ages including young children and adults. And far from being just accepted as a passing phase of growing up, acne should be given due attention in seeking treatment to avoid subsequent acne scars as an unfortunate result of not seeking early treatment.
Although various forms of acne scar removal treatment is available, some scars may be too deep seated to be successfully removed which may affect self confidence adversely, leading to other psychological problems in life.
Acne is a disorder caused by hormonal action on sebaceous glands which are the oil glands of the skin. Even more distressing are the scars left behind by acne which are often permanent, affecting both the personal and professional life of those who suffer from it.
This often leads to a desperate search for acne scar treatment of which fortunately, a variety of treatments are available today. However care has to be taken in choosing which treatment to undergo as a person's medical history, acne scar condition and even budget are among the factors which have to be taken into consideration.
If scars are not too severe and you would like to give natural remedies a try before seeking stronger acne scar treatments, there are many home remedies that are believed to be effective. Ingredients from fruits and vegetables are often found in skin care products and home remedies are used to achieve similar effects.
Among the recommended natural ingredients to use are lemon juice, tomatoes, cucumbers and even a mixture of sandalwood and rose water. Natural oils such as lavender, tea tree and rosehip seed oils are also beneficial for healing acne scars.
For faint scars, acne scar creams and lotions may be sufficient. These products contain skin lightening agents to help lighten acne scars to give the impression of a smooth even skin surface. Some contain skin renewal activators and biological enzymes that gently dissolve damaged or worn out cells and stimulate skin regeneration.
The next level of acne scar treatment is using chemical peels. There are several types of chemical peels with varying strengths. Superficial scars can be effectively treated with chemical peels that are commonly used to treat skin damaged by the sun and for irregular pigmentation. A special chemical is applied to the acne scar area and after several minutes, the peel is removed together with the damaged top layer of skin. Thus, a new top layer of skin cells is regenerated.
Some of the more intensive and expensive acne scar removal treatments include dermabrasion, laser treatment, collagen and steriod injections, and surgical procedures like autologous fat transfer and punch grafts. These often require multiple treatments and long maintenance procedures.
To avoid having to seek acne scar removal treatment, where the process is either expensive or tedious but very often both, consult your dermatologist at an early stage before the acne has a chance to cause deep-seated damage to skin. Corrected blemished skin will never be able to match the smoothness and appearance of natural, healthy skin.
