    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

A Security Digital Video Recorder (Security DVR) system records high resolution digital images to a hard disk drive (HDD), the same type of hard drive used in PCs. However there is no operating system stored on the hard drive, it is simply a storage medium so if it should ever fail you simply replace it. Installing a hard drive is quite simple which is why some websites give you the option to save some money by buying it without the hard drive and you install your own. Most security DVRs use a Linux operating system that is stored on internal flash memory and are quite robust and reliable. Since the video images are stored digitally, the image quality will not degrade overtime, as would a VHS tape when recorded over multiple times.

These types of standalone security DVRs generally come in 4, 8, and 16 channels, some are offered in 24 and 32 channels but are less common. The number of channels means how many cameras can be plugged into them. 4 channel recorders are pretty common among most homeowners but if you feel you may want to add more cameras later then choose an 8 or 16 channel. Most manufacturers also offer software that can connect multiple DVRs together so the number of cameras you can use is quite large if needed.

Think of the security DVR as the brain of your security system. Just as you need eyes to see what is going on around your DVR will need cameras plugged into it to see. You can use most any standard security camera with most any DVR, the exception are the newer High Definition security cameras referred to as HD-SDI cameras or HD cameras. They use the same connector but the DVR must have the circuitry built-in to use HD cameras. HD-SDI cameras and security DVRs will be covered in a separate article, here we will be talking about standard analog security cameras and DVRs.

The security cameras will usually be mounted to a wall or ceiling in the area you want to monitor. All cameras need power to operate but it is not necessary to have a power outlet where the camera is mounted since it can receive its power through the power and video cables that will need to be connected. Most cameras only come with a 2ft or 3ft starter cable so you will need to buy extension cables. The easiest way is to purchase pre-made cables in the length you need since they will have the correct connections for the camera and DVR already installed. Most websites that sell cameras will also offer cables with power and video and cables with power, video and audio if needed.

This extension cable will have power and video connections on both ends, so one end of this cable is connected to the camera's power and video leads. The other end of the cable is run back to the DVR which is usually located inside your home or business where access and power outlets are most convenient. Of course most people do not want to see exposed wires so you may need to run the cables through walls and attic or crawl spaces if you want to hide the wires or along baseboards. If running the wires through walls or attics is something you are not comfortable doing most any electrician or handyman could be hired for that aspect of the installation.

Then back by the DVR you will attach the video lead from the extension cable into one of the video inputs on the DVR which provides the video image from the camera, then the power lead of the extension cable plugs into the camera's power supply which is how you get the power out to the camera. You will need to do this for each camera so you will probably want to use a power strip with multiple outlets or a 12 volt DC power box if you have a lot of cameras installed. The DVR also has its own power supply that will need to be plugged into an outlet.

Now that you have a security DVR and cameras hooked up how do you see the images? Since the DVR is just a recorder like a VCR it will need to be plugged into some type of monitor to setup its features or see the video. Most security DVRs have a standard composite video out that can be plugged into any TV or monitor that has a video input, they also have a VGA output that can be used with a computer VGA monitor and some now have HDMI output for plugging into HD TVs or monitors. Whichever output you choose when you first turn on the DVR you will probably need to input the default username and password see a menu of options. These icons will direct you to the different functions but usually the first thing you should do is set your time and date so any video recorded will have the correct time and date the event happened. The operation of most security DVRs is quite simple but that doesn't mean they lack features such as motion recording, remote viewing, email notification and video backup. However to understand all their features will probably require some reading of the user manual.

Home ownership is a big step, and just like other life accomplishments, it's important that you educate yourself so you can discover all the big and little surprises before they discover you.

So you're looking to buy your first home and you need to know what goes into it. This article will cover the basics about taking out a mortgage and purchasing a home.

Few can afford to buy a home outright. This reality has led to the practice of borrowing money from a bank to finance buying a home. The loan you borrow from a bank is called a mortgage. A mortgage agreement entails that the bank basically buys the home in your name. The bank will own your home until you have finished paying your mortgage, and can repossess it if you miss your payments.

Before you even decide what home you want to buy you'll want to look into the different programs offered by different banks. Each bank will have its own loan requirements and pay back rates. They may also have various fees, and pay back options. Who you have to deal with when negotiating your loan may also be important to you and you'll want to look into the customer service reputations of each bank. There are also new financing options becoming available. After the recent economic troubles, a good portion of the population has ceased to rely on banks. Loaning communities have become popular. An applicant will make an appeal for a loan. The loan is then financed by a number of private loaners, each paying a small amount, if the loan application is approved by the loaning community.

No matter who you choose to borrow money from, you'll want to put as much money down upfront as possible. This means you'll want to pay for as much of your house all at once as you can possibly manage. This will mean that you will have less money to pay back, your monthly bill will be lower, and it will affect the interest rate on your loan. You'll want to put down 10%-40% of the cost of your home. An average down payment is 20%. This means, if you have $5,000, you should be looking for a home that costs $25,000. Depending on what bank you choose to borrow from, they may have a certain percentage of the cost of your home that you have to put down.

The next consideration is your loan period. There are 15 and 30 year mortgages. Which one you choose will determine your monthly payments. If you get a 30 year mortgage then you will have lower monthly payments, but the bank will own your house longer. You will also end up paying more interest over the long run. A 15 year mortgage will get you out of the bank's shadow quicker, but the monthly payments will be higher and so the risk will be higher. Remember that missing payments will put you in danger of losing your house.

Lastly, you're going to want to try to be as debt-free as possible. The lower your debt, the lower your interest rate will be. You'll want to aim to be under $1000 in debt when you apply for your loan. Many people have student loans on their records and that will be counted against you when the bank calculates your interest rate. If your debt is too large, you may want to consider co-signing or buying a home in your spouse's name.

Article Title: Tax Breaks For Home Owners

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

There are three levels of taxes that you are responsible for paying; federal, state and local. Federal and state taxes are based on your income. Local taxes are based on your property, and other things. If you own a home, you will have to pay property taxes to your city, town or village. What taxes you pay and what tax breaks you may be eligible for will be different from city to city, so you'll have to do your research to see what may be available to you.

On the state and federal level, you are paying taxes on your income. If you make $100,000 a year, you will have to pay a certain amount of money to your federal and state governments. A tax break comes in the form of a deductible or a credit. A credit is a fixed amount of money that is taken from your taxable earnings. As an example, if you qualify for a $500 tax credit then you only have to pay taxes on $95,000 of your income. A deductible is an amount that you can deduct from your total. For example, if you spend $10,000 on a home improvement and it is deductible, then you only have to pay taxes on $90,000 of your income.

The state governments and the federal government will attempt to provide deductibles for living expenses. Children, home ownership, car ownership, medical insurance, etc. In this way, they try to ensure that they are only taxing your disposable income, meaning the income that you have freedom to use in whatever way you wish. The key to paying your taxes will be to discover what expenses were needed for the upkeep of your life, and which weren't. For example, if you buy a new computer for work, you will most likely be able to write it off, meaning that the cost of your computer can be deducted from your taxable earnings.

The biggest tax break that home owners qualify for is a deductible on the interest you pay on your mortgage. When you buy a home, you usually can't pay for it outright. You put a certain amount of money down, anywhere between 10% and 40% of the price of your home, and borrow the remainder from the bank. The bank will charge you a certain percentage of your loan for borrowing from them, which is how loaners make money. This is called the interest. Usually you pay the interest along with the principal (the amount you borrowed) however, if you take out a 30-year mortgage, the bank often front loads the interest payments so that you pay the interest before paying back the principal. The federal government offers a tax break to home owners for the first 7 years in the form of a deductible on your interest payments. If you pay the bank $2,000 a month, and $1,500 goes to your interest, over the course of 12 months you will have payed $18,000 in interest. All $18,000 will be deductible. So if you earn $100,000, you will only have to pay taxes on $82,000.

The best way to discover other deductibles that you may be eligible for is to consult a tax professional. Tax companies such as H&R Block, make a business out of finding deductibles for their clients. The more deductibles, the less income is determined to be taxable by the government. You can also try to do the research on your own, by looking up tax forms or checking government websites to determine what tax breaks are in effect.

Article Title: The Budget Considerations When Buying a Home

    Author: Bruce Swedal

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

When looking to buy a home you'll have many budget considerations. Your first concern will be how much debt you have. Unless you are planning (and are capable) of buying your home outright, you will need to borrow money to finance your purchase. The most common source of a loan is a bank (though there are some loaning communities that may serve your purposes). Before looking into buying a home you'll want to try to reduce your debt below $1000 and build your credit score.

Once you have a good credit score, your next task will be to save money to put towards your house. While you will be using a loan to pay for the majority of your house you will want to pay for 10%-40% of it upfront. The bank you borrow from may ask for you to pay a certain percentage and that can be your benchmark. If they do not, you'll want to aim for 20%, though remember that the more you pay upfront, the less you have to pay back.

Your third budget consideration is your monthly payments. After you've looked into the loaning programs the banks are offering and have chosen one that suits you, you'll want to make sure that you will have a reliable income during the life of your loan. Loans can have a 15 year payback period or a 30 year payback period. Depending on your credit and your down payment, you will have to repay your loan in installments every month. If you default on your payments, the bank will be able to repossess your house, so you'll want to make sure that you have a steady source of income so that you can make your monthly payments.

Your next budget consideration is the upkeep of the house itself. You'll want to have your house tested to see how much work you will have to do on the house to make it a home. Besides for basic upkeep, you'll also want to decorate and customize your home. All of those home improvements will take money. While you can do them over time, you'll want to make sure that you have enough money to cover the first, basic renovations.

Your last budget consideration will be your agent. If you use a broker to help you find the house, you will have to pay the broker a certain percentage of the list price of your house. You don't have to use a broker, but it can be a big help if you are unfamiliar with the local housing market. A good agent will seek out properties that fit your specifications, they will show you the properties, and they will help negotiate the contract for you.

Buying a home is a big decisions, and it requires careful financial planning. It is also one of the most rewarding things a person can do. Every cent that you spend on your home goes into a property that you can enjoy for the course of your lifetime and that you can pass on to your family. So think carefully about buying your home and make an investment that you will be proud of.

    Use A Good Agent

Our first tip for first time home owners is to find a good agent to aid you in your search. The benefit of using an agent is that you are hiring someone who is experienced in the field. A good agent knows your local housing market. You will be able to tell them what you are looking for and they are much more likely to find the properties that an inexperienced eye will miss. A real-estate agent that only represents buyers is called an Exclusive Buyer Agent, and the best way to find them is to find brokerages that don't accept listings, meaning they do not take as clients people who wish to sell their homes. You will sign a Buyer Agency Agreement with your agent and in return they will help to find real-estate that fits your needs, specifications and costs, show you properties and negotiate prices and terms of real-estate purchase contracts.

    Put 20% Down

Our second tip is to be able to put 20% down on your mortgage. This means that you are able to pay 20% of the cost of your home upfront. For example, if you wish to purchase a $20,000 home, you should have $4,000 to put towards your mortgage. The more money you can afford to pay initially, the less you will have to pay the bank. It will also help determine your interest rate. Banks will be looking for you to put anywhere from 10%-40% down on your house. The average is 20%.

    Choose Your Neighborhood

When looking into buying your first home you'll want to carefully research your neighborhood. First, if you choose to stay in your home for the next 20 or 30 years your needs will change. You may be single now, but you may marry, have children, want a dog, want trees, etc. You should think carefully about the things you want in your future, and make sure that the area where you are buying your home fits those desires. But our population is more mobile than it used to be, and you may find that you want to move in 5 or 10 years. In that case, you will want to buy in a neighborhood where renting is common. Your mortgage won't go away if you choose to move so you'll have to rent out your home to support the mortgage payments. If you are thinking of moving in the future you may want to buy property in a city or near a college. Such places have large transient populations (populations without permanent homes) and it will be easy to rent out your house when you go.

    Good Credit

It is very unlikely that you will be able to buy your home outright. You will most likely need to finance your purchase with a loan from a bank. Your credit score will determine what the interest rate on your loan will be. The worse your credit score, the higher your interest rate and the more you'll have to pay overall for your home. If you can, you'll want to have less than $1,000 in debt before choosing to buy a home.

Look At The Bones of the House

A house is a layered structure. Before buying you'll want to check out the bones of your house. That means check the house's foundations and it's structural integrity. Your house could look good on the surface, but it could be damaged structurally, making it a bad investment. On the other hand, your house could look pretty bad, but have good bones. A little work and you can have a very nice home. Make sure to get your home checked out, structure, water, electrical etc.

A relatively modern technology, webcams are an extremely valuable and important tool, especially when they are used in conjunction with the internet. At first glance, they may simply seem as equipment that records videos for users. However, they have a host of other advantages for people. Today, they have become integrated into the lives of a large number of people because they have modernized business, communication and education. Previously, web cams had to be bought individually for computers. Since the popularity of the laptops, webcams are already installed in them. As a matter of fact, laptop webcams have become a more convenient and portable option for people.

One of the first and foremost benefits that people can derive from these webcams is their potential for communication. Webcams make it much easier and better to stay in touch with friends and family who are living in different countries. A face to face conversation can take place thanks to webcams. Moreover, they are also useful for a business because they are ideal for web conferencing. Thus, business travel costs can be reduced as meetings are held online. Nevertheless, this is not the only reason for using webcams. They are also helping in boosting the security of home or a workplace.

The good thing about webcams is that just like cheap keyboard, they are a cost effective way of providing security. Webcam programs have surveillance features like motion tracking capabilities, which can turn your computer into a motion detector. Other software such as face detection etc. is also available for use with these webcams. Next, these devices are a great way of promoting visual learning amongst people. Learning has become easier since the introduction of webcams. This is due to the fact that they allow students and teacher to observe each other during the learning process.

Individuals can learn better in this manner. Laptop webcams are portable, which is another plus. This means that people can indulge in video conferencing, visual learning or security wherever they are. Motion controlling is another plus point of installing a webcam on your computer or getting a laptop that has a webcam. The existence of motion controls in gaming consoles boosts their value to considerable heights. However, these consoles also have a heavy price tag to their name. The beauty of webcams is that they can provide the same controls, but at a very small and reasonable price.

There are free online programs, which can be used for giving webcams the proper motion controls they need. A webcam is used for locking onto an object or individual. They will then record the movement of the object and move the cursor on the laptop or computer accordingly. Thus, webcams are highly useful for personal or business communication and enhance its effectiveness. The best part is that they can be found at a cost that's similar to that of a cheap keyboard. Hence, it is quiet easy to get a webcam or even get a laptop that has a webcam preinstalled in it.

The first computer was the size of a large room. Thus, it wasn't a surprise that they weren't part of every home. However, with the boom in information technology, personal computers have become necessary equipment for every home. Travertine is a natural stone tile which makes one of the best materials for flooring. It has been used for many years as a versatile and durable building material. Even though it is highly durable, the type of finish that you want on your travertine tile also adds or takes how durable it is. Polished travertine is one of the most durable finish and is similar to marble with a high-gloss appearance. Honed travertine tile is a matte finish that also gives the tile a smooth texture. With a matte finish it is equally as durable as polished travertine. If you desire a brushed or tumbled finish for your tile it yields more texture though it then becomes less durable.

Travertine is a sedimentary stone which means it is a material that is easier to cut and shape than other materials. Since it can be cut easily it makes the process of installation easy and cost-effective. Another added benefit is that travertine is available in an assortment of colors due to the different levels of mineral deposits which are found in the stone. These colors vary from ivory, to beige and tan, and gold to reddish brown. Because of this you can use the colors to create a uniformity in color or add some contrast and add a different level to your décor. When it comes to upkeep and maintenance, one of the best benefits is how easy it is to replace individual tiles. The best places to have a travertine floor is either in your kitchen or bathroom.

    Benefits of Using Marble

Marble flooring has started to and continued to grow in use and popularity in the past few years. Marble is a tiling material that is a cost-effective option for anyone wanting to invest in a long time, long lasting flooring. The biggest benefit to using marble is its unsurpassed beauty compared to the other tiling materials. Even just using a little bit can tie a room together and give it a homey and relaxing atmosphere. Aside from its stunning beauty, marble has a very low maintenance factor. Cleaning it can be at its easiest if done on a normal basis with a minimal cleaning.

Marble is also a highly versatile material that can be used in other projects besides using it for just flooring. It can be used for shower walls, the tub surrounds and even vanity counter tops. It is a practical and attractive option for many different home improvement projects. It is also a durable material that can withstand being in high traffic areas anywhere. It has been known to last an average of two to five years than most of the other flooring options. It is also highly resistant to moisture so cleaning spills is easy, but to help prevent stains it must be done with the proper cleaning materials. One other thing that makes marble a prospective choice is that it doesn't absorb heat so during those summer months your marble tile floor will remain a cool temperature.

Choosing the right tile for your project can be a pretty daunting task. There are many different types of tiling for different projects that it takes a bit of research to find out which one would be right for what you want to accomplish. For example, a certain tile you would want to use for your bathroom may not be a good match to place in your living room. Likewise a certain type of tile in your kitchen might not work for your bathroom.

Ceramic Tiles:Ceramic tiles are created from rich clay which is gathered from deep in the earth. It has an elegant, but natural appearance. Ceramic tiles are usually glazed in a matte or satin finish. If you want a more natural looking tile you can choose to have it unglazed or what they call "quarry" tiles. This tiling is usually found in bathrooms and residential kitchens. It can be used for flooring, walls and kitchen countertops. Ceramic is a durable material does well against stains and scratches.

Marble Tiles:Marble is another material that is pretty elegant, plus it comes with a variety of colors most commonly which are white, pink, gray and black. This material can also have either a matte or polished finish. This material is ideal for countertops and walls in the kitchen and in the bathroom. A lot of sinks and vanities are made of marble as well. Marble is not a good material to use for bathroom floors because it becomes slippery when wet. If you want to have marble flooring, you should choose to have tiles with a matte finish.

Vinyl Tile:Vinyl tile is a material that is both low-cost and pretty durable. It is a popular material for floors in high-traffic areas because it is resistant to impact damage and it is highly comfortable to walk on. If installed properly then vinyl tiles don not need too much maintenance. It is ideal for both residential and commercial areas and is a good material to use if you want to go for an antique look.

Granite Tile:Granite is one of the most common building materials which has been used for centuries in both indoor and outdoor projects. It is a hard stone which is resistant to both water and scratches.

Porcelain Tile:Porcelain tile is known both for its beauty and durability. It is available in many different colors and textures, and is easy to maintain. It is frost resistant and is great for use for bathroom furniture, flooring and walls. Small businesses tent to use porcelain tile because it works well in light traffic areas.

Slate Tile:Slate is a material with a rough exterior and has a rustic appearance. Despite looking like a tough material it tends to scratch and stain easily making it a terrible choice for kitchen countertops. The tradeoff however is that it can be used for interior and exterior projects such as flooring, walls, and material for a patio or porch.

Travertine Tile:Travertine is a type of stone tile that can be used in different residential projects. For a stone it is easier to cut than others and so it can be cut to fit any type of area. Besides flooring it can be used on kitchen countertop sinks, in showers and on fireplaces. If used outdoors it can be used as a garden path or patio. A quick not, travertine quickly absorbs liquids so it is important to clean up any spills quickly and to be careful in which types of cleaning materials you use for its upkeep.

Linoleum Tile:Linoleum is a tile that looks attractive no matter where you put it. As flooring it can last a long time and doesn't usually require tons of upkeep. It is extremely water-resistant so it can be placed in different areas that may become wet.

Before understanding how one can utilize mosaic tiling and get the best effect, they must at least start at the beginning and that involves understanding what exactly mosaic tiling is and what it involves. First off, a mosaic is a picture or design that is created by many smaller pieces of material. Most mosaic tiles are 2 inches or smaller and are found in home improvement stores or craft stores. They are mostly shaped as squares, but can also be shaped in different shapes and figures. Mosaic tiles are made up of different materials such as glass, ceramic and porcelain. Mosaic tiling is a fun and creative way to liven up ones bathroom wall or floor.

The first thing to consider when starting your mosaic tiling project is the design. When it comes to choosing a design the saying less is more can be truer than anyone knows. It is possible to create a simple design while only using a few complementing colors. An important thing to remember is that you need to glue each piece on individually at a time. It is best to plan accordingly so you can get the most out of your tiles. Before you begin laying the tile it is recommended to find the exact center of the wall by using a tape measure and a chalk or pencil line. By doing this you can be consistent in laying the tile and make sure that it is even.

Along with design it is important to decide your color scheme and consider using the four basic quantities of color which are hue, tone, intensity and temperature. The hue is the family that a color belongs to such as red, purple and blue. The tone is the lightness of the color. Intensity is the color's depth. And temperature refers to the warmth or coolness of the colors. It is possible to have colors of different hues, but matching tones to complement each other fairly well. For example the colors pink and orange are different families of color, however if you use a light pink and a light orange together you create a combination of colors that would work well together. On the other hand varying color temperature or intensity can clash, although if done right clashing colors can be used as a way to make your bathroom aesthetically pleasing.

After your mosaic tiles are placed as you want them the next and final step is usually to grout. Grout is a paste made from water and grouting powder that is used to seal the gap between tiles and lock them into place. It is also used to aid in keeping the mosaic tiling clean by preventing dirt from seeping into the cracks. When deciding what grout you are going to use you should always continue color. The choice of color can accent the mosaic tiling perfectly or it can be used to add a bit of contrast. If you are not sure then a gray color is the best option as it tends to go together with most colors.

Natural stone tiles are flooring materials that are created from mountain born materials such as Slate, Marble, Limestone, Travertine, Granite and Sandstone. They each have different characteristics and styles that are used for different each individual projects. When shopping and choosing what natural stone tiles you wish to use it is important

The first factor to consider is the absorption rate. The absorption rate is how porous a material is. The more absorbent a material is the more likely it is to stain, as well as how much cracking damage it suffers during freezing conditions. There are four different levels of absorption when it comes to natural tiles. Non-vitreous is the highest absorption and should not be used in any environment that can become damp. Semi-vitreous are less absorbent but will require more maintenance the more liquid is exposed to them. Vitreous is the standard level of absorption and is considered most appropriate to be placed in areas with low to mid indoor or outdoor traffic. Impervious is the most resistant when it comes to the absorptions of liquids and are the easiest to maintain and clean. Out of all the natural stone materials, Sandstone is the most absorbent; Travertine, Limestone, and Slate all have a medium absorbency, while Granite is pretty much waterproof. It is also known that any polished materials will also absorb less water.

The next factor to consider it the quality of the materials, which is measured in grade. Grade can refer to the size, shape and thickness of the tiles along with the condition of its surface. The most common grading systems use three levels of quality. Grade 1 is the highest quality. Everything is uniform and there are virtually no flaws. Grade 2 refers to any materials that have minor defects such as chips, scratches or an irregular surface. Grade 3 materials have noticeable major flaws in size, shape, surface or chipping which makes them only appropriate as accent pieces or used in rustic decorative pieces.

The next thing to think about is the coefficient of friction. The CoF is the measurement of how slippery the materials are. The higher the CoF, the more traction a tile has. The number is especially important in high traffic areas, and places that encounter moisture such as the bathroom and the kitchen.

As with everything there are noticeable benefits and drawbacks to using natural stone flooring. Most of the common benefits of using natural stone tiles is mostly in the way of aesthetics. For example since the tiles are made of natural stone, using them can help give a space a more natural feel. Also, since each piece of stone is created from earth, they all have a different earth like pattern which when utilized correctly can create an aesthetically pleasing artwork.

The main drawbacks involve damage that can occur when the tiles are not properly cared for. Certain natural stone as stated is quite porous, so to stop that you would need to treat the stone with a sealing agent periodically to protect the surface. Different polished materials such as marble can scratch easily. Other materials are brittle and likewise can chip fairly easily as well.

When it comes to shopping for natural stone flooring materials you need to do your research so you can understand the different characteristics of the materials you want to buy. Along with your research you should also find out the appropriate ways to utilize your tiles and how to maintain them so you can continue to have nice natural flooring.

Stone and tile flooring are some of the most aesthetically pleasing décor you can use to accentuate your home. Most of these tiling materials are durable and pretty but still require certain types of maintenance and upkeep so it can continue to add a relaxing atmosphere for years to come. When cleaning and maintaining your floors there are a lot of different mistakes that one can make if they don't have the proper knowledge. For example, certain natural stones can be quite porous and can be easily ruined by common household items such as coffee, lemon juice, oil, soda and wine. These liquids can easily stain or mark your tiling. When a spill does occur, a lot of the different common cleaning products can also harm your surface. Cleaners that contain certain acids, alkaline, bleach or vinegar must be avoided when cleaning your stone and tiling. There are specific cleaners that are made to be used on different types of flooring.

Besides proper cleaning another factor into protecting your floors is sealing the tiling and grout which is important for protecting your floors against scratching, staining and with the added benefits of making clean up easier. Some stone materials like granite are more resistant than others to staining and scratches but others would benefit greatly to being sealed.

    Maintenance of Ceramic/Porcelain Tile

Avoid steam cleaning, mopping with bleach, vinegar, ammonia and other harsh cleaners. These methods and types of cleaners will diminish the life of the grout. A neutral pH cleaner will not damage the protection. Depending on how dirty the grout is, change the cleaning solution every 100 to 500 square feet. Maintenance frequency depends on foot traffic and soil conditions.

Only use a pH neutral cleaner for daily/monthly cleaning of all stone, tile and grout. These cleaners are the only type that will ensure safe and effective cleaning. A pH neutral cleaner contains additives that are neither acidic nor alkaline in nature, and therefore will not harm your natural stone or grout finish. If you use the proper cleaner, it will be actually reinforce the sealer every time you clean.

    Maintenance of Natural Stone Tiling

Sealing your stone and using the proper cleaner are two of the most important components necessary for long-term protection. Sealing your stone, tile and grout is an essential part of helping protect it against etching and staining. All sealers are stain-resistant, not stain-proof, meaning they will only resist a stain for so long, before damage results. This means that even though your stone is sealed, you must clean spills up as quickly as possible.

You should avoid steam cleaning, mopping with bleach, vinegar, ammonia and other harsh cleaners. These methods and types of cleaners will diminish the life of the sealer protection and harm your stone. A neutral pH cleaner will not damage the sealer protection and is safe for natural stone. Depending on how dirty the stone is, change cleaning solution every 100 to 500 square feet. Maintenance frequency depends on traffic and soil conditions.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

I remember my favorite Halloween party like it was yesterday. It was going to be held at my friend Spike's house, which was halfway across town and up on top of one of those big, scary hillsides. Spike's mom was out of town a lot, so we knew she would be AWOL that night. It was going to be the most-talked-about Halloween party in my Los Angeles high school, and I had looked forward to it for weeks. I thought that I would never forget that Halloween party because it was going to be so wild. Instead, what I remember about it was how much fun I had never getting there at all.

You see, I had pretty good parents. They had been to some wild parties in their day, and they knew the type of thing that was likely to happen. You know what I'm talking about. The types of things that no good parent wants their kids doing.

So my parents did something so totally cool (we called it rad then) that I was just blown away. Mom took her quarterly bonus from work and they rented a party limousine for me and my best friends. We drove all over Los Angeles that night whooping it up. I'll never forget the look on my friends' faces as I pulled up, and then inviting them in. Car phones were a big deal then, and we kept prank calling Spike's house. First it was the police, then the fire department, then the Skulls and Bones. He fell for it every time.

Limousines can take any event from cool to way awesome. There is just something incredible about renting a limousine from a good limousine company. From the smooth, professional ride, to the rich feel of the leather seating. The feeling of being someone special, a complete VIP, for just a little while is pretty intoxicating. Plus, you know that your driver is well-trained, professional, and certified. Which may not mean a lot to a bunch of teenagers having fun in the back, but it means everything to their parents at home.

As the holidays get closer, I encourage you to think about something like this for your kids. If you have teens in the house, you can give them all the fun and excitement of a limousine rental. As with each violent incident on US soil prior to it, the Boston Marathon terror attack on April 15th provoked deep introspection into what potential intelligence failures may have occurred, what security measures were overlooked, and what resources were not properly utilized. And while there is an ongoing active debate as to whether or not this terror act has discredited some levels of law enforcement, what should be examined are ways to buttress the skill-levels of the local police forces through strategic security courses and anti-terrorism officer training. After all, the Boston Marathon is held every year; it is an internationally-renowned event, drawing people from all over the world to compete. As such, along with other high profile public events, it was a likely target for terror. The City of Boston police force is 2,136 strong and was ranked in 2010 as 15th largest police force in the United States and 14th in the ratio of police to each 10,000 city residents. While these statistics do not address the professional quality of the force, the argument exists for anti-terrorism officer training to be provided to all active-duty officers. In addition, strategic security courses would make officers more aware of potential threats while managing such a highly-publicized event. The question is how to train so many officers.

In 2009, the RAND Corporation conducted a study on the long-term impact of 9/11 on police forces and the challenges they encounter in trying to be up-to-date in the most current anti-terrorism officer training while responding to other demands, such as budgeting and keeping enough officers on the streets. The Boston PD was one of the five law enforcement agencies that RAND evaluated in their study. Two of the major challenges that RAND determined were how to train officers effectively at minimal cost and how to ascertain reliable training sources/methods. There are a large number of organizations that claim to offer an assortment of strategic security courses, certificates and other forms of security training. Independent of this study, the Boston PD appeared to find a solution to these problems as the Department encouraged officers to take continuing education opportunities through proven, qualified online learning. This allowed officers to take classes without having to spend time in a formal classroom, as well as reducing costs to the city in the form of overtime paid to the officers when the officers are required to be in a resident class. It would also reduce costs associated with travel, time/space booking, and the other aspects that come into play when organizing a class event. However, there does not appear to be any evidence that Boston has applied this concept to anti-terrorism officer training.

The Boston marathon terror attack demonstrates how any police department should enhance efforts in providing its officers strategic security courses that will supplement their current training with enhanced skills and techniques for special events like the Boston Marathon as well as in their day-to-day operations. Identifying legitimate facilitators for this training is a difficult task; but there are some guidelines that can be followed to separate the quality professional education from the less-qualified opportunists: first, review the offerings of online schools that are accredited through the US Department of Education – this will indicate that the school has been reviewed and meets federal standards for education and training. Second, examine online schools that offer both degrees and certificates in strategic security, intelligence analysis, protection and anti-terrorism; this is beneficial because the certificates are generally at a lower cost and a more feasible option for budget-minded departments. Officers who want to expand their credentialing by obtaining a degree will trust educational sources that have been verified by their employer. Third, assess whether or not these schools employ instructors who have "in-the-field" experience in areas such as law enforcement; the students will not just be learning theory but gaining the knowledge to meet and resolve real-world problems.

Since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 2001, the focus of the intelligence, defense, and law enforcement communities has been on countering terrorism and strengthening American resilience to terrorist attacks, both at home and abroad. In the pursuit of such, these agencies have revamped their counter terrorism training curricula to train their personnel to support their missions that now require a more robust counter terrorism capability. For example, within the Intelligence Community (IC), counter terrorism training curricula underwent revision to train analysts on the use of new automated tools such as the Terrorist Identity Datamart Environment (TIDE), WISE, and M3, to provide all-source strategic and operational intelligence on terror threats. Within the defense community, there was a revision of counter terrorism training not only from a force protection perspective, to protect service members traveling overseas, but also to focus the efforts of military planners and commanders towards preparing their forces for counter terrorism operations. Lastly, law enforcement agencies developed their own counter terrorism training curricula not only to raise awareness to the threat, but also to train their officers on how to collect and share information on terrorist threats and to conduct domestic counter terrorism operations.

The cumulative training efforts of the intelligence, defense, and law enforcement communities from September 11, 2001, to October 17, 2012 have resulted in thwarting fifty-three terrorist plots. Such plots have ranged from attempts to detonate a "dirty bomb" in a US city, explosive in US subways, and a bomb at the Federal Reserve Bank in Manhattan.

Despite the successes, the United States is not yet safe from the threat of terrorism as evidenced by the terrorist bombings at the 2013 Boston Marathon. The counter terrorism training curricula of the intelligence, defense, and law enforcement communities have been instrumental in developing a more robust counter terrorism capability with their existing workforces. However, they still have the need to recruit personnel, not only to expand their current workforce to counter the threat of terrorism, but to replace personnel lost through retirement and other means of attrition.

The need for new personnel trained in counter terrorism within the intelligence, defense, and law enforcement communities has created opportunities for individuals with counter terrorism degrees. A counter terrorism degree makes an individual far more competitive in the hiring process.

There are many ways an individual can obtain a counter terrorism degree, one of which is online. A counter terrorism degree online from an accredited college or university demonstrates that a person has the foundational knowledge to contribute to an agency's counter terrorism mission. A person in pursuit of a counter terrorism degree online can do so at a place and pace that fits around their work schedule and family and work commitments. In addition, a person may be able to fund their education from an accredited college or university that offers a counter terrorism degree online through a variety of means, such as the Post 9-11 GI Bill or an employer's tuition assistance program.

With the ongoing rise in oil and gas employment, more opportunities are opening up in other countries and many employees are jumping at the chance to up sticks and travel the world. Yet for many, although the idea may be tempting, they are not ready for such a drastic relocation, especially when they have their families to consider. This is why there are several oil and gas companies in the UK that have begun to offer their staff the chance to sample life abroad on a short term basis, giving them time to decide whether they want to make the move more permanent or not. This appears to be having a positive effect on staff working within the UK oil and gas industry as more and more are willing to give it a try.

There are new positions in all areas of oil and gas becoming available in countries such as Spain, Algeria, Norway, Qatar and Austria which are bringing about an increasing demand to employ staff who have a desire to travel. With language barriers and cultural differences, it is understandable that employees are often overwhelmed by the thought of uprooting. However, for those with itchy feet syndrome, these opportunities are attractive experiences waiting to be seized.

There are many benefits of working abroad in the oil and gas industry with financial gain and world travel being at the top of the list, but there are also other advantages. Being immersed in alien environments among societies that you struggle to communicate with owing to language difficulties, confront you with new challenges daily. But in a competitive industry where staff may want to climb the career ladder, these are character building exercises that can equip them for their future employment. Personal and professional development is looked upon favourably in any job and what better way to improve confidence and communication skills than say in Alaska or the Middle East?

So, let's talk about the money! Even for some of the entry level oil and gas jobs abroad, the salaries can far outweigh the salaries for similar positions based in the UK. It is no secret that many positions in the oil and gas industry require hardworking staff that must be prepared to work long shifts, often for two weeks at a time. However, the following two weeks with paid leave and travel expenses that let you explore exotic destinations, can counterbalance this, making it one of the most lucrative and exciting industries to work in. And the further staff climb up the career ladder, the more the salaries ascend too, offering many employees very desirable financial packages.

At present, there are an increasing number of oil and gas jobs arising overseas. And for those who seek adventure, adore travel or simply want to satisfy their wanderlust before permanently relocating, there is no better time to apply for these new vacancies. Kin-Tec is an oil and gas recruitment company that advertises a range of jobs abroad for those who are ready to take the plunge.

Essentially a game of chance but one that lets you put your skills to good use paigow poker is immensely popular for its simple yet meaningful strategic game play. Once understood the game can be played in online casinos on money wagers.

The rules for this game are simple. A deck carrying 53 cards which includes the joker is used. The joker is only semi-wild which means it can be used in place of a card of ace or it can be placed amid a combination of cards to furnish a straight set, a flush, or straight flush as well as a royal flush. Once you make your bet the dealer hands out a deal of seven cards to you and his own self.

These cards are separated into a set of five cards that hold highest value, and second set containing two lower value cards. The dealer does the same with his cards and the set having maximum poker value wins. If there's a tie, then the game goes to banker. On winning both, the higher and low hand sets, a player wins equal money on bet and if he loses one while winning the other the bet is said to be a 'push'.

Different strategies help gain advantage on opponents. Most paigow poker variants use 53 cards and involve dealing of seven cards to each player including the dealer.

On getting the cards quickly decide how to divide available cards into correctly planned five and two card sets. Playing the game the 'house way' means you follow the strategy which is to be taken up by house dealer. Here, in absence of any pair, a straight or a flush you'll have to start the first set with card having highest rank, and second set with two subsequent ranking cards. If you have one high pair but the other pair has low cards, it's better if you place the lower in the second set.

Your seven cards hand may reveal two clear pairs of cards. If you have at least one Ace pair, choose to split. Split also when you get a pair of face-cards and second pair that is higher than sixes. However, refrain from splitting when you land up with two pairs, both being at value six and lower. For any other two-pair combination you may split the cards unless there's an Ace. If so, place the Ace with second set.

If the pairs don't have weak cards, place both pairs in first set and high cards in second set. A player having three pairs in cards at hand should place the highest pair in second set of two cards. Having a full house dealt with can be used by placing three similar cards in set one and pair in set two. You can split three similar cards of higher value for making a pair for set two, and use the remaining card which should be lowest of them in value in the set one.

It's a flush if you play with a five-card set, a six card set with highest card in second set and a two-pair flush if you follow rule of making two pairs. In Royal flush you play the hand of five cards with either one or two pairs. It's split if you retain either a flush or straight in set one and place a pair, ace or king in set two.
