Learning how to French kiss isn't difficult at all, the hard part is learning how to French kiss well. The basics of French kissing include the lead-in, the kiss itself, and the aftermath. Each of these sections will be covered to help you learn how to French kiss like you've been doing it your whole life. The perfect French kiss can turn a simple date into a long and happy life together. The perfect kiss can also turn you into a wanted man very quickly, so lets get started.

    THE LEAD-IN

The moments that guide you into the French kiss is called the lead in. If you're on a date, don't begin planning strategy until after dinner. During dinner you'll get to know your date and figure out the perfect location for your first kiss. During this time also you're setting the stage so you can figure out how to kiss the girl and what she likes. When you figure out the perfect time to go in for the kiss, you could stare into her eyes, pretend to go in for a kiss and see her reaction, or you could kiss her innocently on the cheek or forehead. Then when the moment is absolutely perfect and you know it is what she wants, lead inwards. Try parting your lips gently and go slow. Be sure you have gotten a clear signal from your date before you continue.

    THE KISS

When you first learn how to French kiss, the follow through is the most difficult part to gauge. Important things to remember during the kiss include breathing, tongue movement, and hand positioning. In movies, there's a reason the characters turn their heads to the side; to prevent passing out during a steamy make-out session. Your tongue plays a very important role here to. Do not just shove your tongue in her mouth, roll it gently around with hers until you find a good rhythm. Learning how to French kiss also means figuring out what to do with those hands during the kiss. The cardinal rule of French kissing is that your hands don't wander below the neck until you get the OK from your kissing partner. Good hand placement is cupping the face, or caressing the back of the head. Whatever you choose, make sure you're gentle.

    THE AFTERMATH

The aftermath is just as important as the kiss; how you behave after the kiss lets your partner know how you felt about it. After a hot and heavy kissing session, you can't be expected to say much, but what you do say will determine if you'll get the chance to show off your French kissing skills again. Getting the moment right after the kiss is a key element in knowing how to French kiss with class. If your kiss is at the end of the evening, give a farewell peck on the lips along with a promise to call or if all goes really well, you might just want to set up the next date.

It is always the hardest for working moms to make extra income because they have to consider their children. It also depends on how old the children are. Young children need someone to look after them and older children can get lonely. However there are ways that working moms can make extra income without completely upsetting their families. There are opportunities available online where women can earn extra cash working odd hours such as before or after work, during lunch hours, on the weekends or if necessary on holidays.

Just keep in mind that you have to be careful when considering making extra income online and to make money you should never be asked for money. Working moms should also consider what kind of work they want to do as there is much to consider. Among the online opportunities are affiliate marketing, blogging, freelance writing and paid surveys. Every job opportunity has its good sides and bad and women should look to choose jobs that they will feel comfortable doing or jobs which they have some skill in. If you are considering working for a research company you should first get to know everything there is to know about the company and choose on which has great reviews and testimonials from other people who have worked for them.

Before committing to anything make sure that you read all the fine print and know all the rules. There are many different kinds of companies online. Some which let people set up their own hours and other which require a certain amount of work to be done each day. Working moms looking to make extra income should make sure that they have enough time at the end of the day to put their children to bed and read them stories. Usually working moms require flexible schedules because they need their energy for their regular jobs, for their online jobs and for their children.

Be aware that when applying for a position with a company you may be required to provide references like for a regular job. If there is online training provided make sure that you read through all the material given before you begin working. If the company has a special message board or a forum make sure to join. It's a good way to get to know some other people working for the company and it is always a great source of information. If at any time you have questions make sure to note the helpline number. So for working moms there is quite a bit to consider but there is always a possibility to make some extra income especially online. Make a list of all of your priorities and make sure that you can meet them even while doing extra work. Always add in a moment or two for your children and you should be just fine. As a working mom making extra income is a great way to improve your own life and the life of your children.

Learning how to seduce the opposite sex comes easily to some people, but for the rest of us, we really have to work at it. Luckily for you, we've compiled some useful seduction tips to help you snag that girl or guy you have had your eye on. Before we get to those seduction tips, let's make sure you're prepared for this lesson. If any of these tips have a chance of working, you have to recognize your own self confidence and sexuality. Realize and believe that any or woman or man would be lucky to be seduced by you. Now that we've taken care of that, let's move on.

The first of our seduction tips is; eye contact is everything. Eye contact sends a clear signal that you are focused on a particular person. After all, how can you seduce someone who does not know they are being seduced? Maintaining strong eye contact is one of the hottest seduction tips that will always work. Because eye contact is a subconscious attractor, you'll have to do a few more things to make it work in your favor, so keep reading.

We can give you all the seduction tips in the world and it won't matter unless you're prepared to be bold. Being bold simply means taking advantage of any opportunity presented to you that allows you to get closer to the object of your seduction. For example if you're out with friends and you want to make a move on someone you've been giving major eye contact, start with a drink and note, or simply introduce yourself. Nothing good ever happened to anyone who sat back and waited for it; you have to go out there and get what it is that you want.

Our third tip here is to always dress to impress if you plan to use any of our seduction tips. A nice outfit that accentuates your positives will give you more confidence. The more confidence you have the more attractive you will look to others. You don't have to be the best looking guy or girl in the bar, but with a nice outfit and great confidence they will take notice. Once they have taken notice, then you can sit back and make eye contact with those you are interested in. With such confidence and good eye contact that they'll come to you! This tip works equally well for both men and women, so if you are not the one giving, you still might be the one receiving so be on the look out.

When it comes to seduction advice, there are a few small additional tips that can mean that, if ignored, won't even get your foot in the door. First, always be yourself. Don't let your friends fool you into taking on a false persona; the object of your seduction will notice it and you'll seem phony. Phony guys seem insincere and likely to break hearts so girls will steer clear. Phony girls seem fake and unreal, and guys will see straight through it.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

We have established that health subsidies will be available to many Americans towards health insurance starting in 2014. The health subsidies are calculated based on income levels with two critical rules that drive eligibility and amount of subsidy if eligible: the 400% rule and the 9.5% rule. A person that makes less than 400% of poverty may be eligible for the subsidies but during what period of time? Let's touch base on how the Health Exchanges will view this income threshold in terms of timing.

The first income period for 2014.

For 2014 health care subsidies, the Exchange will look at your 2012 year of income (your tax filing numbers in April 2013) to establish if you are eligible or not. This is the look back period that has been described. Keep in mind that the Subsidies are based on your MAGI or Modified Adjusted Gross Income. MAGI is essentially your adjusted gross income plus interest. This means that so called "passive income" will figure into whether you qualify for a health subsidy starting in 2014. Since the MAGI is a tax term and associated with actual lines on the tax form, the Exchange will need to look at past income to establish eligibility which is true with many Government programs from Medicaid to the amount you can fund into a 401K. What happens if income changes significantly since your last tax filing?

Income goes up since health subsidy look back period

2008 was tough and many people lost their jobs or had their hours reduced significantly. Hopefully, we're starting to see the opposite trend with people finding work and adding hours. What if your income (MAGI) has gone up sizeably since the look back period and you had qualified for a health subsidy? Let's take an example. An individual makes under $25K (well below the 400% of poverty level) in 2012 as reported on his taxes in April, 2013. Based on this and assuming other qualifications are met (citizen, etc), the person would receive a health subsidy for the year of 2014. What if this same person get a big job increase in 2013 from $25K to $50K at which point he/she is no longer eligible for the subsidy? In this situation, the law requires that the recipient would pay back (at tax time) the difference between what they received as a health subsidy and what they were eligible for. There will be caps on this payback amount depending on how much the person actually did make as a percentage of the Federal Poverty Level.

What if income drops prior or during the year in question?

If your income drops significantly (let's say you lose your job or have hours cut), you may be eligible for a subsidy even though your prior year's taxes do not reflect the new drop. In this case, you can submit allowed paperwork to prove your new MAGI in order to get health subsidy advances (as opposed to credits at the time of taxes) in order to afford coverage now. The health subsidy is essentially a credit but the law establishes these advances for those that would find paying the full premium up front too expensive.

So you have looked at the qualifications for receiving a health subsidy and great news... you should be eligible! Congratulations. Now how will the actual mechanics of the new health subsidy work? Do you get money up front? Do you get a reduced insurance premium? Do you collect funds at tax time to offset the actual premium you paid? What if your income and therefore, your eligibility changes during the year. All good questions so let's look at the mechanics of how we expect the health subsidy to work. Keep in mind that each State might be slightly different but our online quote engine will take that in to account when you the new plans and rates are available online.

When does the health subsidy get applied

There was a concern in the law that if people genuinely met the under 400% of poverty requirement, they would be unable to "front" the health insurance premium even if there was a subsidy. The implementation of the law took this into account as it was a legitimate concern considering the cost of health insurance premiums these days. To account for this, the law stipulates that the health subsidy will be available up front to a person that is eligible at the time of enrollment in a Health Exchange plan that's eligible (generally the Silver plan). Let's look at an example of how this works.

Let's say we have an individual that makes $2K monthly or roughly 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. You can find the exact amounts here. Let's also assume that the cost of a subsidy-eligible health plans on the Exchange (silver) is $400/monthly. Rates of health insurance are based on age, area, and plan benefits going forward with health reform. According to the law, the person above should not pay more than 9.5% of their income towards health insurance premiums or just under $40/monthly. The percentages may actually be lower at the lower end of the 150%-400% Federal Poverty level scale but we'll go with 9.5% as a worse case. When the person enrolls in a health insurance plan and meets the health subsidy eligibility requirements, the system will automatically deduct the subsidy of $360 so that the person would pay the $40/monthly premium. This will continue according to the billing type (monthly, quarterly, etc) for the remainder of the year. What if the income changes during the period sufficiently enough to affect the health care subsidy eligibility?

    Look Back Periods and Settlement

The first year's subsidy (2014) is based on 2012 taxes or the filing April 2013. Many things can change between that filing and Jan 1st 2014. A person or family's income can increase or decrease significantly. If a person's income increases significantly to where they subsidy amounts would be affected, the person may need to repay the subsidy at tax time. They may pay less than they actually received if there revised income level was under 500% of poverty, but none the less, this is a concern for people who receive an unexpected tax hit.

In the end, it's good news that people can expect to pay the net premium amount up front with their health subsidy automatically deducted but make sure to plan accordingly if your income suddenly rises during the course of the year.

The new color of health subsidies for insurance in the Health Exchange is clearly going to be Silver. As we get closer to the roll-out of the new plans and most importantly to us, the potential health subsidies, the US public will be come well acquainted with the Silver plan so let's take a look at why it is so important.

    Health plans are going Metallic

The original bill established 4 essential health plans that would be available to the individual, family, and group market after Jan 1st 2014. These plans will have different levels of benefits and different monthly premiums. Starting from less rich to more rich in benefits and cost, they are the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. There will also be a catastrophic plan for individuals under age 30. The metallic plans are designed to hit certain levels of coverage. For example, a person with Platinum plan can expect the plan to pay approximately 90% of health related costs that arise. Keep in mind that this is an average and some people have significant health care costs while others might never see a doctor. The Gold is designed to absorb 80% of the potential health care costs. Silver is slotted for 70% and the Bronze is designed for 60% of the health care costs. We're starting to see what this actually translates out to in benefits since California has already released the essential plan benefits. The Platinum and Gold are very rich in benefits with small if any deductibles and low coinsurance and copays. The Bronze is anticipated to have a higher deductible of between $3-4K on average. The Silver will probably have smaller deductible (by today's standards) of around $1500 and this is the plan that we're most interested in when considering health subsidies.

Silver is the designated plan for subsidies

The law went further to stipulate that only the Silver level of benefits would be eligible for the health subsidy assuming that you meet the other requirements which are primarily based on income levels as compared to the Federal Poverty Level. This means that if you are eligible based on income but choose the Gold, Platinum, or Bronze plan, you will not be able to get the health subsidy. Essentially, there will be no reason to choose any plan outside of the Silver if you qualify for and want to get the subsidy. The Health Subsidies are considerable amounts of money that are credits so there is very little reason not to take advantage of them if available. So Silver it is!

Richer benefits for the cost of Silver

Keep in mind that there is also a Benefit subsidy for those that make up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. Each State and/or the Federal Exchange will have different takes on this but you can expect to have less out of pocket for actual medical expenses on the Silver plan than what the core benefits show. Those individuals that make over 250% but under 400% of poverty will get the premium subsidy but still have the standard Silver benefits. So why did they choose the Silver and not one of the other plans or allow the subsidy towards any plan?

    Affordability drives the Silver selection

The think goes like this. If you qualify for a health subsidy, income is already tight. You probably can't truly afford the Platinum or Silver plan even with the subsidy. Conversely, you probably can't afford the out of pocket that might occur on the less rich Bronze plan. They chose a middle ground option which is the Silver plan.

It's very important to make sure you get the full health subsidy that you may be eligible for. Yes, eligibility depends on income but the plan you choose and where you purchase the health plan also affects your ability to receive the subsidy. We've discussed what is required to qualify based on income and we also discussed the requirement of the Silver plan but what about where you purchase your health plan? Does that matter? Yes! Let's discuss the role of the Health Exchange in receiving your health subsidy.

    Introducing the Health Exchange

There will essentially be two markets for health insurance on the individual/family and group markes. THere will be a designated Health Exchange either ran by the State of Federal government and plans outside this Exchange or non-Exchange plans as they're described. There may even be private Exchanges but these are different than the one government Exchange available in any given State. Interestingly, if a carrier offers health plans in the Exchange, they must offer the same plans out of the Exchange at the same rate and vice versa. So what are the benefits to purchasing in or out of the Exchange?

    Subsidies reside in the Exchange

Health subsidies will only be available in the State of Federally sponsored exchange and only on the Silver equivalent plan. This will be the primary driver to purchasing health insurance in the Exchange. Although the non-exchange plans will have the same basic rates and benefits, they will likely additional add-ons and expanded doctor/hospital networks. With health insurance rates expected to jump significantly, the health subsidies will become the most significant consideration to which plan you purchase and where you purchase it. We are able to quote the best rates and quotes for both Exchange plans (with health subsidies calculated after Oct 1st, 2013) through our quoting page. The first step of the quoting engine will be to determine if you might qualify for subsidies based on income and family make up questions. Based on your answers, the system will be able to show you Exchange plans with subsidies calculated right into the proposed quote or non-Exchange plans without a subsidy but with benefits afforded (such as expanded provider networks). Once the new rates are available online (October 1st), this will be the easiest way to find your most affordable options.

Health Exchanges can only show you half the picture

If you qualify for a health subsidy, it's hard to argue against an Exchange Silver plan. The amounts we're talking about are too high to consider not going that route. We're looking at 1000's of dollars in subsidized premium if you qualify. For many people, even the idea of restricted network cannot offset this savings. For those that do not qualify or who would like to see all the options, keep in mind that the Exchanges cannot show you the non-Exchange health plans. It doesn't make sense to only see half the plans when you can use our quoting engine to see both sides and then choose what's in your best interests. There is no cost for this service to you.

We apologize in advance but the Bronze Age was just too easy not to use. WIth the advent of health reform, the vast majority of health plans purchased will either be Bronze (of the Exchange) or Silver (in Exchange with health subsidy). There will be little reason or cost advantage to purchasing the Platinum or Gold plan. Let's understand why Bronze will be the defacto choice for out of Exchange plans and why a person would go out of the network to begin with. First, what is the Bronze plan?

The lowest reform plan available to most people

Health reform established 4 basic plan levels plus one catastrophic (for people under age 30). They are called the Metallic plans and they're composed of the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The benefits and resulting premiums go down with each level as we discussed in our Metallic Plan article with platinum being the richest (and most expensive). If you qualify for a health subsidy based on income, you'll purchase the Silver plan in the Exchange. If you do not qualify for a health subsidy (make more than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level) or want a larger provider network, you will likely settle on the Bronze plan as best cost value. Let's first look at the core Bronze benefits has set out by State authorities.

    California Bronze plan benefit

California State authorities released their Bronze plan blue print. There are two Bronze options. The first is a $5000 deductible with 30% coinsurance or copay sharing for an additional $1400 out of pocket max. There are 3 office visits copays right away plus preventative benefits. You can read the full list of Bronze benefits from out site. The other Bronze option is a $4500 deductible HSA option. It has a 40% coinsurance for additional $1400 out of pocket max. The two plans are very comparable. So why will these plans be so popular off the Exchange since they have the highest deductibles and less rich benefits?

Cost is king with the Bronze health plan

The next jump up from the Bronze is the Silver plan. It has a $1500 deductible, $6400 max of pocket with 20% cost sharing and $500 deductible for RX. On today's market, this would be a very rich plan. The lowest deductibles on the market are currently around $1000. We used to have richer plans like this but they all went away and guess why? Cost. They became so expensive that no one wanted them. There's no reason to expect differently with the pricing for the Metallic plans. In fact, with guaranteed issue and other mandates, the jump in premiums as you go up the scale will be even larger. The rates will be out mid summer but we expect the difference in cost between the Silver and Bronze to run a few thousand per person per year. Healthy enrollees will take the higher deductible and premium savings. This means the risk pool for the richer plans (and this effect applies even more to the Gold and Platinum) will be less healthy and the premiums will go up faster. The carriers aren't stupid and they understand this. You can expect to the different in premium to about equal the difference in benefits if not exceed them (due to guaranteed issue). In a nutshell, this is why the future of non-Exchange health plans will be Bronze.

Health insurance is tricky and the trend going forward looks like more of the same. The new health reform application is 20+ pages and we've switched out health history question for financial health questions with the same effect. Most people get stuck just trying to analyze the various health plans and rates while running their California health quote. This really is the most critical step of the process so let's see if we can simplify it.

Ultimately, our goal is to find the least expensive plan for the best coverage. Daunting, yes but understanding the quote is the way to get there.

The California health insurance quote grid

We described in our Video Series how to start the quote which you can find here. Once you're in the system, you'll see a quote grid. This is all the available plans and rates are shown with their various benefits. You'll see the plans listed by carriers alphabetically and then by monthly premium (on the far side). At the top, you'll find the major benefit headings and this is where people usually get tripped up. We'll start there since 90% of the decision is a combination of these benefits and the monthly premium.

    The main plan benefit headings

    Plan Type

The three basic plan types are PPO, HMO, and HSA. We have extensive articles on all of these but we can quickly narrow the options. On the individual/family market, HMO"s have priced themselves out of the market. HSA plans use the PPO network for almost all plans so really, we're looking at PPO plan types. The HSA refers to a tax benefit available to those plan members.

    Deductible

This is the big one. The plan deductible is single biggest driver of plan expense. Essentially, the deductible is an amount you'll pay before getting help from the carrier. You'll still get negotiated PPO rates but you're paying this first.

    Doctor Visit

This is the amount you'll pay in-network doctors for the consultation only. It's usually in the form of a copay (say $35). Keep in mind that some plans will only allow a few copays before the deductible kicks in. HSA plans make office visits subject to the main deductible. Preventative benefits will be covered at 100% in-network for covered benefits.

OOP or Out of Pocket Max

This is the important item behind deductible. It shows what you can expect to pay out of pocket for catastrophic health issues (think $50K+). Some carriers have it it addition to the deductible while others include the deductible. Out of pocket maximums are usually per person up to two people in a family during a calendar year (Jan 1st-Dec 31st). This is true regardless of when the policy starts.

    Inpatient Hospital or Co-insurance

This generally shows the portion you will pay after the deductible is met. It's usually a percentage which is called Co-insurance. For example, if you have $1K deductible, 40% coinsurance, and $3K max, if you get a $10K bill, you can expect to pay the first $1K (deductible), and then pay 40% of the remaining $9K until you hit another $3K. Your true max out of pocket would be $4K (deductible plus Out of Pocket Max in this case). The co-insurance means less these days since people are usually way under the deductible or way over the max.

    Premium

Of course, this the most important piece. it's the monthly amount you will pay each month to keep the insurance force. Let us help you find the best health coverage for the lowest premium. That's the whole goal of understanding your health quote after all.

With health reform being rolled out in full force now, we're starting to see some interesting reactions in the market to it. It's akin to a game of chess where one moves, spawns a whole new list of potential moves from the other side and in this case, the other side would be small business owners and California health insurance carriers. The State department in charge of ACA (Affordable Care Act) implementation made the first move a few weeks back when the stated that existing members on individual or group plans will roll over to the new Exchange plans on their anniversary month. That was the first move and we have since received notifications from major carriers of their response. There's a way for California companies and maybe even individuals. Let's take a look at what your move might be.

    So what is anniversary month?

For group health plans in California, anniversary month is the month in which the plan originally started. For example, if the original start date for the group plan (not an individual employee) was April 1st, April would be the anniversary month going forward. An actual employee's effective original effective date doesn't affect this. In this California, this is the month when company's can change coverage, add dependents, and make other changes for the company's health plan. So what does this anniversary month for California companies have to do with Health Reform?

The State piggybacks anniversary months for Health Reform roll over

Any new groups signing for group health benefits Jan 1st, 2014 or after will automatically have only the Exchange (or their non-Exchange counterpart) plans to choose from. What about existing groups and members? The new Exchange plans are expected to be more expensive although not as high as the individual/family market. It's actually a good move since having all existing group plans switching over Jan 1st would be a nightmare for the carriers, the Exchange, brokers, and companies. It's going to be tricky enough already! To wrap up, an existing group health plan will roll to one of the Health Reform plans on their anniversary date. This is where it gets interesting.

The first carrier notifies of early renewal

Everyone in the industry is expecting rates to go up at between 15-30% on the group health market in California mostly due to plan designs since we already have guaranteed issue, maternity, mental health parity, etc. The new plans will be richer and more expensive on average. One of the major carriers realized this and announced that they will allow existing group health plans to have an early renewal of 12/1/2013 regardless of when their standard month was. This will essentially allow those group plans to stay on their old plans (and more importantly, rates) until 12/1/2014 and avoid 11 months of higher rates. The carrier realized that if they did not do this, many those companies (at least those with savvy brokers) would simply switch to another carrier effective 12/1 and get the same result. Another major carrier has followed suit and you really can't be the last one standing so they will all likely do the same. It's being called the Health Reform Pump Fake or Health Insurance Pump Fake. If your group health agent hasn't explained this option to you, we're happy to help. Information is power and in this case, it's quite a bit money as well.

HHS released final notes on rules regarding how the term "affordable" would be viewed with group health insurance there's a big impact on the health subsidy that may be available to individuals (employees or their dependents). Keep in mind that the ACA health reform subsidy is available to eligible individuals and families on the Individual market. What if you have group health coverage through your employer or if you decline to accept group health coverage that's offered (say due to contribution levels that you cannot afford). This is a big deal and the outcry to the recent rule reflects this fact. Let's take a look at what you can expect.

Employees offered group health and subsidies

There are a few key points to make for employees offered group health insurance. If your company offers "affordable" health insurance that meets the new basic plan requirements, you are not eligible for a health subsidy nor are your dependents. This is a huge deal since the group health insurance rates are expected to go up from an already high level. What exactly does affordable mean? The ACA definition of affordable is that the cost of the coverage (premium) should not exceed 9.5% of the employee's income. The outcry occurred because the rule stipulated that this 9.5% threshold would only look at the employee's income/cost of coverage...not the cost to cover dependents. That's a big difference.

An example reflecting the new rule's impact

For example, let's say you have an employee with three dependents (one spouse and 2 kids). Let's say this person makes $40K per year. The employee cost may be $400 per month but the dependent cost could easily run another $800. In determining if the coverage is affordable, they'll look at just the employee's $400 premium versus annual income of $50K which meets the affordability requirement even though the family's real monthly premium is $1200. It's not uncommon for companies to pay for employee coverage and not dependents (or paying a smaller percentage/amount towards dependents) which is allowed. This is a gap in the current law which probably won't be addressed due to the political climate. Further more, since the dependents were offered coverage through the employer, as the law is interpreted, they will not qualify for subsidies on the individual market. We're still waiting for additional clarification and detail regarding this issue.

Is Group health insurance going away?

One big concern is that many companies, especially those with employees that do not make much will drop their group health insurance and just pay the annual premium of $2K. The requirement to offer coverage or pay the premium only applies to companies with 50 or more equivalent full time employees. This basically means 1500 hours weekly (30 hours a week x 50 employees). You could also get there with 100 part time employees working 15 hours weekly (the 50 equivalence). Since group health insurance will be much higher than $2K for many employees, you may see some pay the penalty. The penalty does not apply to companies with less than 50 full time equivalent employees which is interesting since so much of the US employment is actually at smaller firms. If those small companies do not offer coverage, the employees could possibly qualify for a subsidy on the individual family market. As we get more information affecting employees and health subsidy eligibility, we'll make sure to add it the site.

Nothing can make anyone look and feel more elegant than pearls. Pearls represent elegance, simplicity and beauty at its finest. It is often regarded as a symbol of wealth as well. Accessories made of pearls are coveted and could instantly make an outfit more sophisticated. There are a lot of different types of pearls, and the South Sea Pearl is one of the largest ones.

The South Sea Pearl usually grows up to 20mm, though the average size is 13 mm. It is commercially cultured and harvested in over 4 countries in the world, primarily in Australia. It comes from the "Pinctada maxima", an oyster that can grow up to 12 inches in diameter. The Pinctada maxima is native to the South Seas that lie between the southern coast of China and the northern coast of Australia.

The Pinctada maxima has 2 varieties, the silver-lipped and the gold-lipped. They are distinct from each other due to the overtones of the pearls they produce. The silver-lipped oysters produce pearls with white, blue, silver or aqua overtones while the gold-lipped ones produce pearls with deep gold, champagne or cream overtones. Once produced, the pearls are generally just washed and buffed, removing residue and brining about their natural glow.

These attractive pearls from Australia grow large primarily due to the size of the Pinctada maxima. Since the oyster is large, it can also accept a relatively larger bead. The period for growth of the South Sea Pearl is also longer, since they require a minimum of 2 years to be harvested. This contributes to the larger size of the pearl. Other pearls only take 9-16 months to be harvested. It is also uncommon to get pearls from the South Seas that are round or near-round, only 10-30% will be of the desired results. This phenomenon contributes to the higher value of a South Sea Pearl necklace with round beads.

South Sea Pearls are thick, and range from 2 to 6 mm, while other pearls are around 0.35-0.7 only. They have a satin-like luster, which makes them unique and beautiful. They also have an array of colors: white, silver and gold. This range of colors is rare in other types of pearls.

Of course, with their size and beauty, it is no wonder they do not come cheap. Their prices start at a little over $1000, and necklaces of high-quality would range from $100000 to $300000. White South Sea Pearls are generally more expensive than the other colors.

Though there are other colors and other places where it can be harvested, the South Sea Pearl is commonly dubbed as the attractive white pearl from Australia. Since the pearls are primarily cultured in Australia, they often get attributed to the country. It is also in Australia where the white variety is commonly found. In other countries, such as the Philippines and Indonesia, the golden variety is more commonly cultured.

This type of pearl is very attractive and iridescent, making it look elegant and beautiful. Anyone who wears this pearl would instantly feel more attractive like the pearl itself.

When you think of pearls, you immediately think of the white, round beads usually worn as necklaces or earrings. The term pearl is sometimes used as a color itself as well, describing a creamy, white, almost luminescent object. You wouldn't really think of a pearl as something that is black. But believe it or not, there are black pearls!

The black pearls, or Tahitian pearls are produced by the "Pinctada margaritifera", a black-lipped oyster. The pearls are rare since only a number of oysters can produce those pearls. Though it may seem like they are black, the Tahitian pearls are not quite black. They are most often silver, charcoal or a mixture of different colors with green as the dominant color. It is also important to note that Tahitian pearls are NOT solely from Tahiti. Tahiti does not have pearl farms on the island, but it is the trading hub and commercial center for the pearls. Pearl farms are instead found throughout French Polynesia: From Gambier Islands to the Micronesian Islands. Some countries such as Australia, Seychelles and Vietnam have produced pearls that are "black" but those pearls are not really considered as Tahitian pearls.

Tahitian pearls come in various shapes. It may be round, semi-round, oval, teardrop, baroque and sem-baroque. As was stated in the previous paragraph, the Tahitian pearls are not really black, but dubbed as "black pearls" because the hues are generally darker. These pearls may also have various overtones and undertones, including green, yellow, pink, blue and silver.

The pearls are truly rare and extremely beautiful. The oyster's inner shell is equally attractive, making it popular, and it is being hunted for as well. It almost got extinct by the 20th century, but efforts have been made to conserve and rehabilitate the oyster.

Since these black pearls are the most exotic and sought after pearls, it is also pricey. The price starts at $1000. As with any other pearls, round and semi-round Tahitian pearls are the most expensive of its kind. The drop and button shapes are next. Baroque types of pearls are a bargain, relative to the other types. Larger Tahitian pearls would also be more expensive than smaller ones. They would usually be around 9-12 mm. When the size reaches around 14mm, it is considered very large already. Price would increase per millimetre as well.

One must be very careful in purchasing accessories made of Tahitian pearls, some might not be real. There are instances when sellers would treat pearls so that they would look like Tahitian pearls. One may look at the small scratches or imperfections, which would help identify real pearls from imitations. Imitation pearls would most of the time be perfectly smooth. Real pearls, on the other hand, would have small scratches due to the sand that could get in the oyster while the pearl is forming.

Tahitian pearls give a unique air of elegance to the person who wears the accessory. With black as a symbol of simplicity and of elegance as well, it could instantly make anyone feel good. Tahitian pearls may come in different color tones, one must choose what would be the most flattering for her.

HIPAA which stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was formulated on the purpose of providing protection to any person's medical information to remain confidential as he or she wishes. Along with it, certain penalties are to be given to those who will be proven guilty of any information leakage may it be done on purpose or just by accident. Though this act has been enforced in 2002, not all individuals, insurance companies and health care providers have mastered its procedures yet. Further coagulation of the procedures and proper HIPAA Training Course is needed to educate and help every institution and parties concern to stabilize everything.

    • Necessary rules and regulations regarding the transfer of information of the patient's medical condition orally through phone communication must be formulated and observed. Insurance companies and health care providers are encouraged to implement strict rules in divulging medical information. It is to be strictly relayed to the needed and authorized person.

    • Institutions have their own systems and computers where they store all the necessary medical information of all their clients and patients. To protect their data, make sure that the employees who are solely authorized to encode and keep the information will log out or lock the account properly every time she leaves her computer unattended. This should be compulsory so that no other person can gain access to such information.

    • Aside from the information stored in the computer, health care providers and insurance companies keep hard copies of all their clients and patients information. These copies should be placed in a secure area where only the authorized people can get in and out to avoid leakage of this information. There are cases that even the patients are not advised about their health condition to protect them. Only the patient's close family member is given the information, particularly in severe and sensitive cases.

    • Hard copies or printed copies of the patients' medical information are shredded according to the policy of the institution as long as they are not needed anymore. Assign a safe container to keep them prior to shredding them to make sure that nobody can read them. The papers should be properly destroyed.

    • Frequent or regular reminders of the HIPAA regulations to all the staff members and other employees of the institution can help them not forget the procedures and policies. Enhance their awareness of the HIPAA rules through seminars. This can make them become familiar with HIPAA thus making them obedient with the act as well as avoiding any violation of it.

Go over the policies of your company or institution in the matter of the patient's medical information. Analyze whether your policies are somewhat less secured or not organized. And then make improvements. Remember that any leakage of information can put your company in jeopardy. Penalties will be applied accordingly to anyone who happens to neglect their responsibilities or proves to purposely reveal the information of one's medical condition. It is not hard to become submissive to HIPAA as long as you are aware of the policies and penalties you can suffer in case of any violation.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

The US Congress established the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to intensify the protection and safeguard of the medical records of patients. As mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) of the United States, all the rules and regulations set forth in the HIPAA privacy law should be followed by all government and non-government entities providing health care and medical services to patients as well as to their intimate relatives and families.

Violations, on the other hand, may vary from a simple denial of access to your own medical records to disclosure and release of your sensitive medical data to other people not authorized under the rule of law. When this happens, as a patient or a family member of the patient you have the right to file a complaint against your health care provider. Reporting complaints is fairly simple and is a short simple process. You may find the process of reporting a HIPAA violation outlined here to be of great help.

    • Get a copy of the Health Information Privacy Complaint. This can aid you in running through the particulars of your complaint and can also help the Office for Civil Rights or OCR figure out and investigate the violation you reported.

    • Once you have discovered a violation of the HIPAA privacy law, have it reported and filed within 180 days to ensure validity. However, for instance where the complaint was filed after the 180 days time frame, the chance of your complaint being reviewed will then be at the hand of the secretary of the OCR. Certain reasons of reporting delays shall be tackled accordingly by the secretary. Causes of delays like accidents, injury or other important personal concerns shall be evaluated and pointed out as valid or void reasons. Once a reason is found valid, it is only then that the secretary will go on with the investigation of your complaint for violation.

    • Send the fully furnished package promptly to the OCR via electronic mail. The OCR email address is OCRComplaint@hhs.gov. You may email them for inquiries regarding the privacy law in general as well.

    • If electronic mail is not accessible, you may also have the complete package sent via fax or perhaps through traditional snail mail. However, be certain you send the complete package to the right OCR office. To be sure that the office where you send the complete package is appropriate, you may try to check the HHS official website.

    • If the deadline of passing complaints to OCR has passed, you may try to get in touch with the entity you believe violated your HIPAA rights. Try to seek a copy of the entity's privacy policies. Read through the policies and then ask the entity how to file a violation complaint.

Basically, HIPAA was enforced in order to make patients feel at ease and secure in that their confidential and sensitive health related information shall not be shared with other people. However, there are some instances that the privacy law is being breached unknowingly and sometimes willingly by the information custodian. To help you understand more about your rights as a client and as a patient, you may try to take a HIPAA training course.

A lot of people are suffering from various chronic diseases because they fail to take care of their health and failed to maintain a strong body defense system as well. However, staying healthy is certainly not just the issue of time and resources. Some of the main reasons why people fail to maintain a healthy body is because they think dieting and exercising are among the most tedious and boring things to do.

Well, staying healthy does not have to be boring and mind numbing. There are certain ways to enjoy your staying healthy journey. Included here are some of the helpful tips you may make use of to stay healthy the fun way.

    1. Sing Your Way Out

Simple things are often left disregarded. There are many things you do that you may not think can contribute a lot to staying healthy. Singing, for instance, can help you maintain your health. Singing can help improve oxygen flow in your body. Having a good oxygen flow in the body can bring about a strong immune system. It can also help make your skin look good and healthy. Moreover, proper oxygen flow is excellent for the psyche.

    2. Laughing Out Loud

It has been always said that laughter is the best medicine. Well, laughter is actually not just a medicine but a fun way of staying healthy as well. It is a usual activity that people do that does not just makes someone feel good but will also help improve health. If you feel weary and sad, try to watch a funny movie to cheer you up. Also, laughing is an excellent de-stressing technique. It can help alleviate pain and can help improve brain function. Moreover, laughing is the best remedy for any heart problem and it can also help lower your blood pressure.

    3. Choose Food Wisely

People eat everyday, of course. But for people to get the most out of eating, they have to make sure that they eat healthy foods. Be certain that you eat a healthy and well balanced diet every day. Worried about spending too much on the so called healthy foods? Well, you do not have to worry about spending too much. People fail to maintain a healthy diet simply because they are thinking that healthy foods are much too costly.

Actually, what people do not know is that healthy foods are most likely the less expensive yet more neglected food items. Vegetables and fruits are very healthy, for example, yet very affordable. Just vary your meal menu to avoid being bored with eating the same vegetables and fruits. The secret is simply to be creative and resourceful. Add lean meat like fish and chicken meat as well as dairy products and eggs to complete your delicious and nutritious meal menus. Water can be found in abundance. Drink enough water a day to maintain a healthy body.

Both laughing and singing can do well together. But eating healthy foods and drinking enough fluids should also be added to the formula. Should you want to learn more about staying healthy, you may try to take a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA training course.

It is said by many that prevention is better than cure. With this in mind, we can say that among the best ways to stay healthy is to prevent diseases from afflicting you. And one way of disease prevention is by having a healthy lifestyle and proper diet. Should you be looking for better ways to help avoid getting diseases, included here are some tips you can use in your journey towards staying healthy.

    Good Foods

It is a common advice to eat a lot of healthy foods. Good foods traditionally include healthy foods that contain essential vitamins and minerals like fruits and vegetables. Eating an abundant amount of fresh fruits and raw vegetables daily can help you avoid getting infected with diseases. Also, you need to switch any usual intake of red meat into lean meat. Good sources of lean meat are chicken and fish.

    Cut Back on Caffeine

One of the common sources of caffeine that people used to take daily is the coffee. If taken in a moderate amount, coffee can be of great help. It contains antioxidants that can help slow down the aging process. However, anything taken more than the recommended amount can be harmful. An excessive intake of coffee can lead to dehydration, constipation and nervousness. It can also cause sleep disorders like insomnia. Other sources of caffeine that have to be ingested moderately are soda and chocolate drinks. Drinking soda and chocolate beverages can be refreshing and stimulating. However, if ingested in excessive amounts, they can lead to having sleepless nights as well as chronic disease like diabetes.

    Smite Your Cigars

Smoking cigarettes can never be good for the health. Regular cigarette smoking can cause a variety of diseases, varying from a simple skin discoloration to chronic diseases like lung cancer. For someone who wants to stay healthy, he or she should avoid smoking cigarettes as early as possible before it is too late.

    Sleep Well

Many people may not know the real importance of healthy sleep. Sleeping is indeed among the most important things people must do. When your physical body is asleep and resting, your internal body organs focus on their respective functions. Digestion, for instance, takes place mostly during sleeping time. Deprivation of sleep can lead to insomnia, digestive disorders and malfunction of other body organs. Also, studies have shown that insufficient amounts of sleep can lead to obesity and kidney failure.

It is very essential to have at least 8 hours of good sleep per day in order to stay healthy.

Being healthy and staying healthy are very important. However, a lot of people take their health for granted simply because they believe that they are too young to worry about the issue. Some others disregard doing things that can help them maintain a healthy body because they think it is just a waste of time or perhaps they think that they do not have enough resources to buy the necessary things for maintaining their health. These conventional beliefs that most people in the modern world still embrace are the reasons why there are a large number of people who die every minute because of various illnesses.

Maintaining a healthy body is not only a must for selected people like children and aged people but for all. Young people are more active in physical, mental and social activities thus requiring them to get more energy. If you are thinking about how you will be able to maintain a healthy body, here are several techniques for you to practice.

Having a minimum of three meals daily is ideal. This way, even if your body will not always be able to receive all the vitamins and minerals required daily, eating three meals every day can help your body do all its functions well. Skipping just a single meal can bring harm to your body and may cause the delay of growth and other processes of your body's systems. Though some multivitamins or food supplements can help, they cannot provide all the nutrients the body needs. Those people who claim to be very busy all the time are at risk of developing health problems. However, for cases where you need a special kind of eating plan, you must seek the advice of a doctor first.

There are instances that you cannot comply with the set daily dietary requirement with the foods you eat. In these cases, food supplements and multivitamins may be needed. Since teenagers use a lot of their body's energy daily with their activities, it is just recommended that they have a daily supply of multivitamins. This is to fill in what is missing in their daily dietary requirements. Eating healthy foods along with multivitamins every day can bring about a lot of health benefits like improving the function of the heart as well as enhancing energy levels.

Exercise should be a part of your daily activities. It can provide numerous benefits to the body. Being active particularly in activities that deal with physical strength, endurance and fast movements can improve the processes inside the body including the metabolism. Exercise can help burn unwanted fats and aids in the digestion process as well as in converting foods and fats to other types of energy. Joining in sports is a good way to get your body into action mode. There are varieties of ways you can do daily exercise. Among the enjoyable exercises are biking, jogging, dancing and swimming. Sports activities like playing tennis, basketball and volleyball can also be excellent forms of exercise.

Teens should know that staying healthy is not merely one of those old beliefs of their parents. It is a fact that everyone must know the importance of staying healthy to be able to enjoy life to the fullest. Should you be a teenager having a difficult time in figuring out what kind of lifestyle and eating habits to focus on, it is best for you to seek a professional advice. Your parents or people older than you can provide suggestions as well. Staying healthy can be enjoyable as long as you look at the positive side of life and also not think that you are being deprived of something.

Obesity has been a problem worldwide not only with adults but with kids as well. There is a rapid increase in the number of kids ages 6 to 11 that are overweight. This is clear evidence that they are not eating a well-balanced diet. Children with their young ages can develop life threatening illnesses due to their being obese. It might be for different reasons like eating foods that are less nutritious, not having enough physical daily activities and other inappropriate eating habits.

Parents are expected to be responsible in guiding their children regarding their health. Setting a good example is the perfect method to teach them what to do. Here are some healthy things you can do together with your kids to remain healthy.

The main factor that contributes to obesity is improper food intake. Once you notice that your children are gaining too much weight, take a closer look at the foods your children eat at home and in school. It might be that they eat less nutritious foods in school while you are trying your best to give them only nutritious ones at home. Kids can be very hyperactive and use up larger amounts of their energy daily. It does not mean that if your children are obese, you have to let them eat less. You just have to monitor the food that they eat. Make sure that they eat foods that contain adequate amounts of vitamins, minerals and calories daily. The quantity of calories needed by the body vary among kids according to their ages and activities. For this, you have to check with a dietician or a doctor. There must be also a balance in the carbohydrates, protein and fats intake. Foods like beans, chicken and nuts are the perfect sources of protein. As for the sources of carbohydrates, give your children vegetables, whole grains and fresh fruits. Healthy fats are needed by the body as well. Good sources of healthy fats are fish, olive oil and nuts.

Exercise plays a big role in maintaining your kids' good health. Doing exercises regularly like jogging or walking is advisable. Convince your children to join sports or other activities that involve physical movement. Performing exercises that can strengthen the muscles of the body can help develop lean and strong muscles.

Proper hygiene needs to be observed at home or wherever your children are. Make it a routine for them to have their hands washed first prior to eating anything. Washing the hands regularly especially before meal time can help avoid contamination and the spread of diseases caused by harmful bacteria.

Also have your children brush their teeth before sleeping and after eating all meals and snacks.

Be a role model for your kids to follow and admit to your healthy habit rules. As a responsible parent, you also need to practice proper hygiene and a healthy lifestyle, and embrace good eating habits as well. Get in shape and stay in shape, seeing your family physician for regular annual check-ups as needed.

Are you trying to decide on a fantastic present for your mother's holiday this year? A really great idea for you is to take your Mom on a thrilling helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. The choppers fly as usual on that day, so you can take her to either one of the rims. However, the best option is probably to take her to the West Rim and choose a flight that descends to the bottom of the canyon where you can enjoy a champagne brunch!

Mom's holiday falls on a Sunday, the 12th of May. Although the date is kind of far away, you should not waste time booking your seats. Grand Canyon helicopters fill up quickly, especially on holidays. So book your seats as early as possible.

You should plan on getting your seats one to two weeks in advance of your trip. There are several benefits of booking in advance:

    1. You will have your choice of tours and flight times.

    2. A lower rate.

    3. And If you're traveling with other folks, you'll be able to get everyone a seat.

Because choppers only hold six passengers, book well ahead so your group can all fly in the same aircraft (your Mom wouldn't want to be with strangers instead of her family!). Plus, the flight time you pick is important. I suggest morning departures because that's when the visibility is best and the air is less turbulent.

Grand Canyon choppers depart from two locations, Las Vegas where flights go to the South Rim or West Rim, and Grand Canyon National Park Airport in Tusayan, AZ where you can fly to the South Rim only. Just pick the rim you think your Mom would enjoy the most. The South Rim is ideal if she admires nature's beauty and wants to see if from afar. The West Rim is recommended if your Mom likes thrills and adventure.

    Touring The South Rim

Travelers coming from Phoenix, Sedona, Scottsdale and other AZ locations should drive to GCA (it's a scenic route). From the airport, you fly to the South Rim, and then to the North Rim and back in a 30 or 50 minute flight. The longer flight is the same as the shorter one except it includes a trip to the east side of the National Park too.

You can take a tour of the South Rim if you leave from Vegas too, you'll just have to add an additional step. Because the South Rim is outside the range of choppers from Vegas, you'd need to take a plane to GCA and then board your copter there.

    Tours Of The West Rim

Remember the champagne brunch tour at the bottom of the canyon that was previously mentioned? You can only take that tour if you leave from Vegas since the West Rim is the only location where helicopters can descend below the rim of the canyon. On your way to the West Rim you will see the massive Hoover Dam and impressive Lake Mead. After arriving at the canyon, you'll fly 4,000 feet down to the bottom, where you'll enjoy brunch and explore on foot.

The other West Rim tour that I think would be great for Mom's special day includes VIP access to the fabulous Grand Canyon Skywalk (the Glass Bridge). Think of the thrill she would get standing on a glass sidewalk 4000 ft above the canyon floor and 70 ft from the edge of the rim!

    In Conclusion

A helicopter tour would be a terrific way to celebrate your Mom's special day. Be sure to check your options and choose a fantastic trip for your Mom. If you are lucky enough to be in Vegas, then picking the tour to the West Rim that includes a champagne brunch is a good deal. If you opt for the South Rim instead, look for a tour company that offers the EcoStar 130 helicopter. This particular aircraft is one of the best for sightseeing and it's comfortable, too. No matter which trip you choose, your Mom will surely remember your trip together for a lifetime!

Article Title: PureAire Combines Oxygen and CO2 Sensors Providing a Dual Gas Monitor

As a recognized leader in O2 safety monitoring, PureAire recently explored the need for an O2 monitor where carbon dioxide is used. There are four key cryogenic gases; nitrogen, helium, argon, and carbon dioxide (CO2), which can create an oxygen deficient atmosphere. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) covering cryogenic gases cite that a cryogenic leak can create an unsafe environment by lowering the breathable oxygen levels. If an oxygen monitor is required for N2, He, and argon, then why not for CO2? Carbon dioxide is a cryogen that is often overlooked because it's considered a harmless gas that provides the fizz in soda. The reality is that during a leak, it rapidly depletes the oxygen in the room.

"In June 2011, a McDonald's restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, was evacuated because of a leaking CO2 cylinder in the basement. A pregnant employee reportedly collapsed while exiting the basement and two firefighters were injured during the incident"1. This is only one of many similar incidents of asphyxiation due to a CO2 release where people felt symptoms from lack of oxygen before the toxic effects occurred. With the current use of larger 100 + gallon liquid CO2 tanks, any leak can cause severe asphyxiation hazards. Although a CO2 monitor is recommended, we believe that an oxygen deficiency monitor should also be employed because the asphyxiation risk is due to the depletion of breathable oxygen.

PureAire believes that an O2 deficiency sensor should be used where carbon dioxide is stored because, "asphyxiation is likely to occur before the effects of carbon dioxide overexposure."2 As a result, PureAire is introducing a new Dual gas monitor for detecting Oxygen and Carbon dioxide. The unit's digital display shows O2 in percent and CO2 in ppm. It has dedicated individual visual alarms and relays for each gas, a built-in audible horn, and gas selected analog 4-20mA output. It's designed for early warning when either gas exceeds their safety limits. It can also be used to control carbon dioxide dispensing systems used in grow rooms by shutting off the flow of CO2 when levels get too high.

The risks associated with carbon dioxide are; "It's a colorless, odorless non-flammable gas with a vapor density 1.5 times that of room air. It is non-toxic, but by displacing oxygen in confined spaces, the gas can cause asphyxiation"3. Recently, new fire department laws are being discussed to provide proper safety regulations in environments where carbon dioxide is stored and used in establishments dispensing beverages and in indoor grow rooms. The Denver fire department recognized that carbon dioxide causes asphyxiation and is considering the use of an O2 monitor as well as in grow rooms where low concentrations of carbon dioxide are present.

Additionally, with the increasing sales of kraft beers that require nitrogen dispensing, a CO2 monitor can never be used for protection because it will not detect oxygen deficiency in the event of a leak. PureAire's new dual gas monitor can provide early warning alarms for a leak of CO2 and N2. Al Carrino, president of PureAire wanted to add one more line of defense for safety by detecting oxygen deficiency while also monitoring for CO2. With our new dual monitor we feel that we can now cover all the risks when using cryogenic gases.

Liposuction, or lipo, is a body contouring procedure used to remove fat deposits from specific areas of the body. There are several types of liposuction procedures, but in general, lipo requires a small incision in the treatment area through which a cannula, or hollow tube, is inserted. The cannula is moved rapidly back and forth to break up fat cells, which are then suctioned out of the body. Prior to undergoing liposuction, it's important to understand what lipo can and cannot do to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

What Liposuction Can Do for You

    Liposuction can:

    • Remove stubborn fat deposits – Lipo is a highly effective subcutaneous fat removal treatment for many areas of the body that have not responded to diet and exercise. Some of the most common treatment areas in healthy men and women include the abdomen, waistline, flanks, hips, thighs, knees, ankles, arms, face, and back. Additionally, men with gynecomastia (or male breasts) often benefit from liposuction in the chest area.

    • Contour specific areas of the body – Women in particular seek liposuction procedures to achieve a more contoured, feminine shape to their bodies. Reshaping a targeted treatment area begins as a cannula is moved through fat pockets to create tunnels in the fat layer. Before the final, more contoured result is achieved, the tunnels must collapse and heal, and swelling must subside. To aid in this process, a patient will be required to wear a compression garment for a period of time following the procedure.

What Liposuction Can't Do for You

    Liposuction cannot:

    • Serve as a substitute for weight loss – Liposuction is not a weight loss technique. While subcutaneous fat cells can be removed, inner visceral fat that surrounds organs, and contributes to obesity, cannot be removed with liposuction. Additionally, lipo cannot remove cellulite. The ideal candidates for fat removal procedures are those who are in good health and within at least 10 percent of their goal weight.

    • Eliminate future fat absorption in untreated areas – If you have never undergone liposuction, your fat cells are replaced every seven years, which means your body will always have the same number of fat cells. Weight gain occurs when the cells absorb and store fat and expand. Conversely, weight loss occurs when the body burns stored fat as energy, causing fat cells to shrink. However, liposuction permanently destroys and removes fat cells from an area of the body, and those cells will never grow again. So, if you gain weight after liposuction, fat cells in previously untreated areas will begin to absorb excess fat, which can eventually create a disproportionate silhouette.

    • Tighten loose, excess skin – Lipo does not address excess skin that often results from significant weight loss, aging, and other factors. For example, a patient who has lost weight and wants liposuction to better define the contours of her waistline may also require a tummy tuck to remove excess skin and tighten the underlying abdominal muscle.

    Consult a Plastic Surgeon

If you're considering liposuction to contour your abdomen, hips, thighs, or another area of your body, take time to thoroughly research how the procedure is performed on the area you'd like to treat. More importantly, as you learn about the procedure, keep in mind what liposuction can and can't do for you. Doing so will help you more accurately formulate reasonable expectations for your desired outcome.

Additionally, you should consult an experienced plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. A highly skilled surgeon can properly assess your proposed treatment areas and recommend the procedure or combination of procedures that he or she believes will best help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure that enhances breast size with the placement of silicone or saline implants. There are many important decisions a woman and her surgeon must make prior to starting the procedure, one of which is the implant profile to use.

Round implants – which are more commonly used than contoured, or "teardrop," implants – have a certain height when viewed from the side. This is known as a profile, or projection, because when placed in the breast pocket, the implants project outward from the chest wall. For any given volume of implant, a narrow base and smaller diameter translates to a higher profile.

Why Choosing the Right Profile is Important

Women considering breast augmentation often believe that implant size, or volume, is the only factor that will affect their desired result. However, implant profiles can significantly affect the outcome, particularly as the chosen profile relates to a woman's body type and her existing breast tissue. This complex interplay of factors often makes choosing an implant profile a technical process, but a surgeon can guide a patient's decision by recommending a profile based on her breast width, torso width, and other measurements.

Round implants are available in varying projections, including low, moderate, and, high profiles.

    Low Profile Implants

Low profile implants project the least from the chest wall. They typically have a wide base and diameter, and are generally considered a good option for women with wide chest walls. These implants tend to produce more subtle results, though the outcome will depend largely on the amount of existing breast tissue. Low profile implants are not as commonly used in breast augmentations as moderate and high profile models.

    Moderate Profile Implants

Moderate profile implants project modestly from the chest wall and have a medium-sized base. Breasts augmented with this type of implant tend to look more natural than those augmented with other profiles. Additionally, excess fullness in the top portion of the breasts (upper pole fullness) is limited.

Moderate profile implants work on many body types. This type of implant may be appropriate for a woman with a narrow chest wall who wants her torso to be more proportionate to her hips. A woman with a wider chest wall may also benefit from this profile style, or, for slightly more projection, she may opt for a moderate profile implant with a higher volume. Additionally, implants with moderate-plus profiles can help certain patients achieve more of a curve to the sides of the breasts.

    High Profile Implants

High profile implants have the narrowest base of all profile options and project outward from the chest wall the most, which contributes to excessive upper pole fullness.

In women with wide chest walls, there is a possibility that a high profile implant will look obviously artificial, unless there is enough breast tissue to successfully disguise the implants. Women with narrow chest walls can benefit from high profile implants, particularly if a larger cup size without a wider appearance to the torso is the desired effect. These implants can also create a larger space between the breasts and tend to provide the least natural-looking results.

    Consult an Experienced Plastic Surgeon

Consulting with one or more plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is the best way for a patient to learn which implant profile will best help her achieve her aesthetic goals. A surgeon with extensive experience in performing breast augmentation procedures can suggest the implant options that will suit a patient's body type and complement her existing breast tissue.

Additionally, a surgeon with a high level of skill will be able to more accurately and carefully dissect breast tissue to create the implant pockets that are critical for well-placed implants and long-lasting, optimal results.
