What is Conjunctivitis?
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva(the white of the eye and inner lining of eyelids).
It is one of the most common and treatable eye infections in children and adults.
What causes Conjunctivitis?
Conjunctivitis can be caused by a virus bacteria irritating substances (shampoos, dirt, smoke, and especially pool chlorine) allergens (substances that cause allergies).
Conjunctivitis caused by bacteria, viruses can spread easily from person to person, but is not a serious health risk if diagnosed promptly.
What are the symptoms of Conjunctivitis?
1. Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid
2. tears overflowing
3. Yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep. Other discharge from your eye (green or white) .
4. Pain in the eye
5. Itchy eyes (especially in conjunctivitis caused by allergies)
6. Burning eyes (especially in conjunctivitis caused by chemicals and irritants)
7. Blurred vision
8. sensitivity to light
How is Conjunctivitis spread?
Bacterial or viral Conjunctivitis can also be spread through hand contact when rubbing the eyes or touching contact lenses after touching infected skin.
Being around a person who has conjunctivitis and wearing contact lenses may increase your risk of getting conjunctivitis, but the outcome is usually very good with treatment.
How is Conjunctivitis treated?
Bacteria:Conjunctivitis caused by bacteria is treated with antibiotics. The antibiotic can be given as eye drops, ointments, or pills. Eye drops or ointments may need to be applied to the inside of the eyelid three to four times a day for five to seven days.
Virus: No Medicine can treat conjunctivitis caused by a virus. This type of conjunctivitis often results from a common cold. You may, however, help relieve symptoms by applying a cold compress.
Irritating substance:For this type of conjunctivitis, use warm water for five minutes to wash the irritating substance from the eye.
Allergies:Allergy-associated conjunctivitis is treated with antihistamines or when the allergen is determined and removed.
How to relieve symptoms of Conjunctivitis?
1. Protect your eyes from dirt and other irritating substances.
2. Do not use contact lenses, if you wear them.
3. Place cold compresses on your eyes.
4. Wash your face and eyelids with mild soap or baby shampoo and rinse with water to remove irritating substances.
5. Do not rub your eyes with hands that are not washed.
6. Do not use the same bottle of drops in the other eye if it is not infected.
How to prevent spreading Conjunctivitis?
1. Do not touch or rub the infected eye(s).
2. Wash your hands often with soap and warm water.
3. Wash any discharge from your eyes twice a day using a fresh cotton ball or paper towel. Afterwards, discard the cotton ball and wash your hands with soap and warm water.
4. Wash your bed linens, pillowcases, and towels in hot water and detergent.
5. Avoid wearing eye makeup. Don't share eye makeup with anyone else.
6. Do not wear another person's contact lens.
7. Wear glasses instead of contact lenses. Throw away disposable lenses or be sure to clean extended wear lenses and all eyewear cases.
8. Avoid sharing common articles such as unwashed towels, cups, and glasses.
9. Wash your hands after applying the eye drops or ointment to your eye or your child's eye.
10. Do not use eye drops in a non-infected eye that were used for an infected one.

What is Gastroenteritis?
Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the lining of the intestines caused by a virus, bacteria or parasites resulting in leakage of fluid from the cell into the intestine(diarrhea),abdominal pain and vomiting.
What are the causes of Gastroenteritis?
Viral Gastroenteritis:
The most common cause of Gastroenteritis is Viral.
Rota virus is the leading cause among children 3 to 15 months old and the most common cause of diarrhea in children under the age of 5 years.
Adenovirus occurs mainly in children under the age of 2 years.
Caliciviruses especially the norovirus cause infection in people of all ages.
Astrovirus also infects primarily infants, young children, and the elderly.
Bacterial Gastroenteritis:
The most common cause is the E. coli bacteria, usually mild with diarrhea, abdominal pain and occasional vomiting. It rarely cause fever.
Salmonella, Shigella ,Vibrio cholerae, are more serious bacterial infection causing diarrhea and high fever.
Parasitic Gastroenteritis:
Most common is amoebic dysentery, common in India and Africa.
Other parasitic infection are giardiasis and threadworms.
What are symptoms of Gastroenteritis?
The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are
1. watery diarrhea
2. abdominal pain
3. vomiting
4. headache
5. fever.
6. loss of appetite and energy
Symptoms usually appear within 4 to 48 hours after exposure to the germ and last for 1 to 2 days, though symptoms can last as long as 10 days.
How is Gastroenteritis transmitted?
Gastroenteritis can be highly contagious. The germs are commonly transmitted by people with unwashed hands.
People can get the germs through close contact with infected individuals by sharing their food, drink, or eating utensils, or by eating food or drinking beverages that are contaminated with the germs.
Noroviruses in particular, are typically spread to other people by contact with stool or vomit of infected people and through contaminated water or food especially oysters, prawns, crabs, lobsters, cockleshells from contaminated breeding waters.
How is the diagnosis of Gastroenteritis made?
Doctors generally diagnose gastroenteritis based on the symptoms and a physical examination. Your doctor may ask for a stool sample to test for rotavirus or to rule out bacteria or parasites as the cause of your symptoms.
How is Gastroenteritis treated?
Most cases of viral gastroenteritis resolve without specific treatment.
Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections.
The primary goal of treatment is to reduce the symptoms which may include an antispasmodic drug to stop abdominal cramps, medicine to harden the stools such as kaolin and slow down the intestinal movement (lomotil or loperamide).
Prompt treatment may be needed to prevent dehydration which is the loss of fluids from the body. Important salts or minerals, known as electrolytes, can also be lost with the fluids. Dehydration can be caused by diarrhea, vomiting, excessive urination, excessive sweating, or by not drinking enough fluids because of nausea, difficulty swallowing, or loss of appetite.
The symptoms of dehydration are
excessive thirst
dry mouth
little or no urine or dark yellow urine
sunken eyes
severe weakness or lethargy
dizziness or lightheadedness
Mild dehydration can be treated by drinking liquids.
Severe dehydration may require intravenous fluids and hospitalization.
Untreated severe dehydration can be life threatening especially in babies, young children and the elderly.
The following steps may help relieve the symptoms of gastroenteritis.
1. Allow your gastrointestinal tract to settle by not eating for a few hours.
2. Sip small amounts of clear liquids or suck on ice chips if vomiting is still a problem.
3. Give infants and children oral rehydration solutions to replace fluids and lost electrolytes.
4. Gradually reintroduce food, starting with bland, easy-to-digest food, like porridge or soups.
5. Avoid dairy products, caffeine, and alcohol until recovery is complete.
6. Get plenty of rest.
How is Gastroenteritis prevented?
You can avoid infection by:
1.washing your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds after using the bathroom or changing diapers
2.washing your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds before eating
3.disinfecting contaminated surfaces such as counter tops and baby changing stations
4.Avoid eating or drinking foods or liquids that might be contaminated

When you own an eBay store, you have the luxury of listing items in your store inventory that essentially do not expire like regular auctions. This feature opens the doors for you to carefully think about and design a process for promoting your items.
As with most things in life, there is an easy road and there is a tougher road that demands more work. The results that one gets are often direct in line with the effort one puts in.
eBay provides you with a cross-promotional tool, where you can present a buyer with similar or related items when they view an auction listing, and when they go through the checkout process.
The easy way out of using this feature is to simply let the system decide which auction listings to show to the buyer. That is probably also the least efficient way of using the cross-promotional tool. However, if most of your listings are regular time-limited auctions, then you do not have much choice other than using the auto selection feature.
A more efficient and effective way of using the tool is to promote your more expensive items when a buyer views an auction listing. This method is actually even more important for when the buyer is going through the checkout process. At checkout time you know that you have a paying buyer who is interested in the particular purchased item. Now is the time to use that knowledge and up-sell.
Often, your more expensive items are the ones that move much slower. That can be for a variety of reasons, such as buyers limiting their searches to specific dollar limits, buyer confidence in you as a seller, and buyer confidence in the broader eBay auction system.
Hence, you must use every sensible opportunity you get to promote your more expensive items.
To do this effectively, you must fully understand your products and how they relate to one another. In addition, you must understand your buyer.
You must know that if the buyer purchased your red $10 widget, then they are most likely to be interested in your related $120 widget because the red widget works with or enhances the performance of your more expensive widget.
In this scenario, you would list your red $10 widget as a regular eBay auction and list your related $120 widget as a store inventory item. Using the cross-promotional tool, you would then manually select the more expensive widget to be shown on in the cross-promotional tool, as well as other items that might relate to the red widget or the more expensive widget.
Cross-promotion can be very effective in generating more sales, but you cannot expect the optimal results if you choose to rely on automatic selection. Put in some thought and work, and you should see far better results.

What is Chickenpox?
Chickenpox is a mild illness common among children but can occur at any age.
A fever appears followed by an itchy rash of spots that look like blisters all over the body on the second or third day and may be accompanied by flu-like symptoms.
What causes Chickenpox?
Chickenpox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus.
What are the Symptoms of Chickenpox?
Chickenpox usually starts with a mild fever of 37.7 - 38.8 Celsus with or without headache.
It is followed by a red, itchy rash on the skin that usually appears first on the abdomen or back and face, and then spreads to almost everywhere else on the body.
The rash begins as multiple small, red bumps and rapidly develop into thin-walled blisters filled with clear fluid, which becomes cloudy. The blister wall breaks, leaving open sores, which finally crust over to become dry, brown scabs.
Chickenpox blisters can also occur in the mouth causing pain and discomfort when eating.
Some children have abdominal pain, sore throat, headache, and in some cases a severe cough.
Younger children often have milder symptoms and fewer blisters than older children or adults.
When is Chickenpox contagious?
Chickenpox is contagious from about 2 days before the rash appears and lasts until all the blisters are crusted over.
A child with chickenpox should be kept out of school until all blisters have dried, usually about 10 days.
Chickenpox is very contagious most kids with a sibling who's been infected will get it as well, showing symptoms about 2 weeks after the first child does.
To help keep the virus from spreading, make sure your children wash their hands frequently, particularly before eating and after using the bathroom.
And keep a child with chickenpox away from unvaccinated siblings as much as possible.
Pregnant women and anyone with immune system problems should not be near a person with chickenpox. If a pregnant woman who hasn't had chickenpox in the past contracts it (especially in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy), the fetus is at risk for birth defects. If she develops chickenpox just before or after the child is born, the newborn is at risk for serious health complications.
How to avoid getting Chickenpox?
Since May 2006, after FDA approval of the vaccine, Doctors recommend that kids receive the chickenpox vaccine when they are 12 to 15 months old and a booster shot at 4 to 6 years old. The vaccine is about 70% to 85% effective at preventing mild infection, and more than 95% effective in preventing moderate to severe forms of the infection.
Healthy children who have had chickenpox do not need the vaccine they usually have lifelong protection against the illness.
How to treat Chickenpox?
Treatment of Virus:A virus causes chickenpox, so the doctor won't prescribe antibiotics. However, antibiotics may be required if the sores become infected by bacteria.
The antiviral medicine acyclovir may be prescribed for people with chickenpox who are at risk for complications. The drug, which can make the infection less severe, must be given within the first 24 hours after the rash appears.
Treatment of Symptoms:You can help relieve the itchiness, fever, and discomfort of chickenpox by:
1. Using cool wet compresses or giving baths in cool or lukewarm water every 3 to 4 hours for the first few days.
2. Patting (not rubbing) the body dry.
3. Putting calamine lotion on itchy areas or acyclovir cream lightly over the rashes
4. Giving your child foods that are soft and bland because chickenpox in the mouth may make drinking or eating difficult.
5. Make the child drink lots of fluids
6. Anti itch medicine like antihistamine or pain relieving medicine like paracetamol may be given to relieve itch or pain.
7. As much as possible, discourage scratching. This can be difficult for the child, so consider putting mittens or socks on your child's hands to prevent scratching during sleep. In addition, trim fingernails and keep them clean to help lessen the effects of scratching, including broken blisters and infection.
What are the complications of Chickenpox?
Typically, chickenpox is a mild illness, but can affect some infants, teens, adults, and people with weak immune systems more severely.
Some people can develop serious bacterial infections involving the skin(especially in children with eczema), lungs(pneumonia) and the brain (encephalitis).
What is the outlook for Chickenpox?
Most children recovered completely from chickenpox within 7-14 days of the onset of symptoms.
Adults may take a longer time to recover(10-21 days) and the symptoms are more severe.
Pox marks due to infections of the skin and deep scratching of blisters may remain and serve as a reminder of chickenpox.
A person usually has only one episode of chickenpox, but the virus can lie dormant within the body and cause a different type of skin eruption later in life called shingles (or herpes zoster).

It was our first trip to Italy.
W e expected to see a lot of ancient civilisation( ROME, POMPEII), the religious center of the World (VATICAN CITY), icons of Italy (NICOLOSSEUM, LEANING TOWER OF PISA, VENICE, TREVI FOUNTAIN), wonderful statues and frescos, paintings, architecture and the culture of a country known for its history and its famous people( MICHAELANGELO, LEONARDO DA VINCI, GALILEO, ST PETER, ST FRANCIS OF ASSISSI,MARCO POLO).
All these we visited and saw the beauty of Italy.
Some advice we wished to give new visitors:
Parking for coaches are always very far from the tourist spots so be prepared to walk a lot. Try and get comfortable sport shoes.
During summer it can be very hot so buy lots of water to drink during your trip.
Water can be bought at different prices in the country. Rome and Vatican city are the most expensive with 500cc of water costing 3.50 euros while at Florence we were able to get 12 litres of water for only 0.99 euros.
The sun can also be very glaring to the eyes. We advise bringing good UV block sunglasses or wear a hat or cap.
Most of the big shops uses the major credit cards such as VISA, MASTERCARD, DINERS CLUB, AMERICAN EXPRESS but for the small stall holders selling souveniers cash is still important.
Bring sufficient cash for incidental buying of souvenier, food, icecream, even the usage of toilets etc. Remember that there are many pickpockets in Italy so keep your valuables(cash, credit cards, and passports) in a body pouch. It is safer than to lose your valuables to the pickpockets.
All services and goods carry a value added tax of 20% which can be refunded at the customs in the airport provided the amout is large enough. Get a form filled up at the shop where you buy the goods.
The hotels in Italy are generally comfortable but do not come with amenities like kettle, teabags or coffee. So if you need to boil water, bring along a travel kettle. Remember to bring the the right plug for the electical socket.
There is no airconditioning in most hotels but there are heaters for winter. Services like porters are slow so expect to receive your luggage late. It is better if you can bring the luggage up to your rooms yourselves.
Most Italians speak very little English. So try to learn a few Italian phrases.
Internet services cost about 5 euros for half an hour.
We found that there are a lot of illegal immigrants such as Africans and Asians selling fake goods along the roadside.
Once on the way to our hotel there was a blockage ot the road by the police as a result of strike by some workers working in factories. As a result the coach had to U turn and go by an alternative route.
Not all the toilets are free. Some cost 0.5 to 1 euro per entry. Best places to use a toilet would be at MacDonalds or you may be able to use a toilet at a food shop provided you buy food from them. No purchase means no usage of their toilets.
Bring sufficient batteries for your camera or bring the charger for your camera. If you don't then all the pictures which you take for your vacation will be wasted. The cost of batteries are very high in Italy.
Photo taking are prohibited in many places in Italy especially where there are frescos as the flash damages the painting. Examples are Sistine Chapel, Pompeii, Assissi.
Churches or Basilica are places of worship so your dress code should be decent-no mini skirts and exposed shoulders. Silence is also important!
The largest lemon in the world can be found in Sorrento.
Finally enjoy your trip to Italy as we did with all these tips and precautions.

Hello World!
I have just entered into the world of Internet Marketing. They tell you to fire your boss, quit your job and started earning lots of money.
Since I started about 2 months ago I have at least 200 emails a days all trying to provide information and promotions leading to a very confused newbie especially when he is nearing the edge of 60 years.
I was overloaded with information which comes left, right and center.
I was given a sorts of free ebooks. The word freebie set my heart afire and I begin to download all kinds of ebooks, softwares etc until my hard disk was bursting to its rims a few times.
I have to copy all my downloads on dvds before it run out of space. This happened a few times.
Information overload was one important keyword. Lack of sleep was another keyword - learning about email marketing, autoresponders, affiliates marketing, joint ventures, giveaways, viral marketing, spams, scams, adwords, seo, web designs, web tools, ebooks which you downloaded with a different name from the same ebooks you just downloaded the day before, one time offers, and the very important time sensitive offer of sale of ebook which increases at a rate of 5 or 10 cts per minute, etc, etc, ad naueum.
It is just as well that I did not quit my job because I have been spending something like $200+ per month. All I get in return was a cheque of $9.
After 2 months I find that I am getting a bit more focussed. I closed my ears to instant money making machines and try to concentrate on a few things like writing a ebook, designing a simple website, doing some affiliate marketing and building slowly a mail list.
I hope that I am doing the right thing. But I am slowly learning and I intend to give it a try. Any one who reads this blog please wish me luck and offer some free advice. There s that four letter word again free .
Cheers
Wish me Success!
Ken Kee

A Simple Guide To Gout
What is Gout?
Gout is a disease caused by the excessive uric acid in the blood.
Who get Gout?
Gout is often hereditary so even young adults are affected.
It occurs more commonly in men than in women.
How does it cause problems?
The uric acid in the blood is usually discharged from the body dissolved in the urine and the intestinal tract and sometimes as perspiration through the skin.
1. Gouty Arthritis
high concentration of uric acid in the blood caused the formation of needle shaped urate crystals which are deposited in and around joints thus causing pain and swelling.
2. Kidney stones
Deposits can also form in the kidney and urinary tract as urate crystals or stones.
3. Skin urate trophi
Some urate crystals are also deposited in the skin, mostly commonly at the earlobe and joints.
What are the symptoms of Gouty Arthritis?
The symptoms of gouty arthritis are usually of sudden onset.
They are:
1. pain
2. swelling
3. pain
4. joint feels hot
Where does gouty arthritis attack?
These are the most common joints affected by Gout:
1. Big toe 76%
2. Ankle 50%
3. Knee 32%
4. Fingers 25%
5.Elbow 10%
6. Other Joints 2%
How do I prevent Gout?
1. Drinks lots of fluids(at least 8 glasses of water a day).
This will help to excrete the uric acid through the urine and dilute the uric acid
concentration in the blood.
2. Avoid food which can produce high levels of uric acid. These are high protein foods such as:
Animal organs -liver,kidneys, intestines,brain
Seafood - especially prawns, crabmeat, lobsters, cockleshells, fish roes
Bean products- beancurds, soya beans, bean sprouts, peanuts
Alcohol - cause dehydration in the blood raising the concentration of uric acid.
3. Avoid fasting and starvation - again this raises the concentration of uric acid in the blood.
Obesity should be slowly reduced. The over-weight body affects the joints.
4. Avoid certain drugs like diuretic which reduces the volume of water in the blood and
raises the concentration of uric acid.
5. Take medications like allopurinol which help to reduce the production of uric acid.
How to treat an acute attack of Gouty arthritis?
1. Take medicine like probenecid or cochicine which helps to flush the uric acid out through the urinary tract.
2. Drinks lots of water (eg. 3 glasses of water) immediately during an acute attack.
3. Rest the joint. If the the big toe is affected, raise it above the heart level to help the blood flow.
What are the Complications of Gout?
1. Kidney stones may develop in the kidneys or urinary tract causing pain and damage to the kidneys.
2. Recurrent attacks of gout may erode the surfaces of the joint resulting in permanent damage.

Constipation by definition is a condition which is characterised by fewer than normal bowel movement than usual.
It is accompanied by straining, incomplete evacuation and passage of hard stools.
Who gets Constipation?
It is particularly common among the elderly and younger children.
How do you get Constipation?
There are a few causes of constipation:
1. Insufficient fibre(fruits, vegetables) to form bulk in the stools.
2. Insufficient fluid in the diet(at least 8 glasses of water).
3. Insufficient time to go to toilet when there is the urge to pass motion.
4. Insufficient exercise to help the intestine to move especially after meals, common in sedentary jobs and older people
5. Stress cause the constriction of the anal sphincter preventing the stools from passing.
6. Depression on the other hand depress the movement of the intestines.
7. Drugs like cough mixture containing codeine, antispasmodic, antacids may also reduce the motility of the intestine.
8. Pregnancy in the later stage cause the womb to press against the intestine.
9. People with low thyroid hormone slows down the movement of the intestines.
10. People with piles or pelvic space occupying swelling which may press against the intestine or rectum.
How to avoid Constipation?
Avoidance of constipation include:
1. Increase in daily fibre intake to at least 15gm (eg. 1 bowl of bran cereal for breakfast), fruits and vegetables).
Fibre increases the bulk of the stool allowing easy passage of stools through the large intestine.
2. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day (2 litres). Water reduces the hardness of stools.
3. Regular exercises at least 2-3 times a day especially after meals. Exercise will enhance intestinal movement.
4. Allow a distraction free period of 15 min a day for bowel movement. The strongest intestinal movement occurs after breakfast.
5. Do not ignore or suppress the urge to pass bowel movement. This may impair the sensation to detect initiation of bowel movement leading to constipation.
How to treat Constipation?
1. Follow the advice above.
2. Consult your family doctor to exclude any abdominal swelling which may be blocking the passage of stools.
A colonoscopy may be needed to check the large intestines for tumours or early cancer. Your piles may be removed during the colonoscopy if found to be obstructing passage of stools.
3. Try Yogurt or fermented milk with lactobacillus as a method to stimulate more production of bulk in stools.
4. Try not to take laxatives unless it is deemed necessary by your doctor. Most doctors preferred not to use medicine in combating constipation.
5. Learn to relax the anal sphincter by doing some pelvic exercises

How does education promote success?
In Keys to Success: How to Achieve your Goals, by Carter, Bishop and Kravits, the authors write:
Education is more than the process of going to school and earning a degree or certificate. It is a choice to improve your mind and your skills. Education is what you make of it. If you make the most of your mind, your time, and your educational opportunities, you will realize your potential.
Education gives you tools for lifelong learning.
1. You not only learn facts while studying, but also how to think -- an ability that will always be useful. Education improves your quality of life.
2. The Digest of Education Statistics 1996 reports that income levels rise as educational levels rise. Education expands your self-concept.
3. As your abilities grow, so do opportunities to learn. As you rise to the challenges of education, you will discover that your capacity for knowledge and personal growth is greater than you imagined.
Education enlarges your possibilities.
4. First, through different courses of study, it introduces you to more choices of career and life goals. Second, through the training you receive, it gives you more power to achieve the goals you choose.
Education improves your employability and earning potential.
5. Many studies have shown that education increases not only a person's employability and earning potential but also their self-esteem. Education makes you a well-rounded person.
6. As it widens your understanding about what is possible in the world, education increases your awareness and appreciation of areas that affect and enrich human lives. Education affects both community involvement and personal health.
7. Education helps to
1) prepare individuals for community activism by helping them understand political, economic and social conditions, and
2) increase knowledge about health behaviors and preventive care.

Online shopping is the way to go nowadays. Today, a growing number of shoppers are opting to stay home and shop instead of heading to the mall and get hassled by the traffic and the people who are killing time there.
No wonder online businesses are booming. Perhaps in a couple of years the market place will be transferred online. That is a big possibility that cannot be ignored and that you, as a business person must be aware of.
Before everyone else starts establishing their business online, be among the pioneers and set up your online business now. Of course, it can be pretty confusing what kind of business to go for – something that is along your line of interest and something profitable, of course.
Here are some e business ideas that just might help you along the way. They are proven to be the best money making areas online. With any luck, they would be of interest to you as well.
There are many online business options for you to choose from. If you are a woman who is into fashion, you can sell makeup, clothes shoes, accessories and the list goes on. If you are a guy who is techie, then you may want to look into the idea of selling gadgets.
There are some people who sell collector's items online and you might want to get into that too if that interests you. However, these 3 online businesses that I am about to share is proven to be the top sellers.
If you want to place your money, time and effort where there is a higher possibility of return of investment, then you might want to consider getting into these e business ideas.Among the many e business ideas, books, music and travel are those that you might want to capitalize on because they are proven to be the most profitable.
If you would notice, these are the things that you can't go wrong on. Buy clothes online and it just might not fit when it reaches you. Opt to buy shoes and you just might encounter the same problem. For women, when you buy makeup online, you just might end up ordering the wrong shade.
But when it comes to books, music and travel, there is no way that it won't fit you. They are great e business ideas because when a customer buys them online, they know for sure what they will be receiving once the item is delivered to them.
When it comes to books and music, the customer can get them right away if they choose to go digital on their purchase. They can buy an e-book instead of a paper back or hard bound and for music, they can just download a music file instead of waiting for a CD to be delivered. There is money online provided you invest on the right e business ideas. If it coincides with your interest, that is even better. Good luck on your venture.

So you've considered trying your hand at woodworking projects and make yourself a nice table or a neat rack for your kitchen or office. Don't sweat it as anyone can get into woodworking without any prior experience in carpentry at all.
Easy woodworking projects are readily available at most DIY stores nowadays and the products made for beginners are ever easier to find and use. You don't have to worry about purchasing big power tools just yet or fret over getting all the materials from your local hardware store before you can even get started on your first project.
What you got to do is drop by your local DIY store or shop online for easy woodworking projects. These usually come in complete sets that include all the precut pieces of wood, nails, screws, hinges and other hardware that make up the final product. A good example to begin with is something you can work on right on your table.
Wait a minute, this sounds more like an assembly project rather than an easy woodworking project. Not quite so as this introductory kit will help you gain a better understanding of how to handle bigger woodworking projects in the future.
Start small and you'll see for yourself that you can do it and be rewarded by a nice finished product. These are called wood craft or woodworking kits. Among the easiest ones is a toy box kit. It comes with the precut pieces of wood, hinges and screws. The only tool you need to put this one together is a screw driver. You can purchase paint and sanding material of you want to give it a finer finish. You can try your hand at varnish, too.
If this kind of project is too simple for you, there are thousands of easy woodworking projects waiting to be done as plans and instructions abound online. What is it that you really need the most at the moment that is not so daunting a task? Let's get real and stick to something doable and requires less preparation so you can appreciate woodworking more.
Choosing a relatively simple and realistic goal will be rewarding eventually as you will be able to finish the project within reasonable time and give you personal satisfaction. What you get out of these easy projects is the right motivation to progress to more complex woodworking projects.
Try your hand at a range of kinds of wood so you can more or less know how working with each type will feel. Generally, pinewood is easier and lighter to work with. Coco lumber is also good for beginners and I recommend it if you can find it in your area. If not, start with wooden crates. The tougher kinds of wood are heavier and will require more effort to sand, saw and shape.
Start small with easy woodworking projects and you'll discover which among the thousands of projects you will prefer and can work with next.

Having an online business, which makes you money on auto-pilot is very exciting. Although it's easy to make money with affiliate marketing, only a very small percentage of affiliates make a lot of money.
This article has a few tips, not only will you avoid the normal mistakes most affiliate marketers make, but you will also learn how to select programs that make you residual income for many months.
With affiliate marketing a merchant pays you the (affiliate) a certain percentage of the sale price for merchandise sold. It's a win-win situation because the affiliate simply refers people to a website and does not have to worry about fulfillment, and the merchant gets people to advertise for them and only has to pay them after The sell has been made.
Here are a few normal mistakes most affiliate marketers make, and why you should avoid them:
1. Sending people directly to an affiliate's website.
You spend so much time and energy plus money to advertise. When you send people directly to a merchant's website you only have one chance to get the sale. If they don't buy they are gone. The best way to do this is to send people to an sign up form, where you give them something of value for free gift or a new letter, in exchange for their email address. That way you can follow up with that person at a later date and have the opportunity to sell them other products.
2. Creating a website with to many affiliate links, And lots of banners.
If you are selling cars,Don't send them to a website about boats. Instead, offer an honest review of the product, pre-selling readers on its benefits, and on how it will help them.
3. Affiliate commission theft.
Commission theft is a big problem, You can't eliminate it completely,But there are some steps you can take, to minimize it dramatically. Two methods you can use are cloaking and redirecting,
It takes a lot of effort to refer a sale for a one-time purchase product than it takes to refer one for a residual payment product. Therefore, it makes good business sense to try and market affiliate programs with recurring commissions.
when choosing a residual payment affiliate programs, you should consider the quality of the services you are promoting.
Take this for a example, You refer a sale for a membership website which only offers resale rights to ebook's, and nothing else to keep the customer from canceling. They join, download all the ebook's and then cancel within the same month.
Consider referring a sale for web hosting or for an autoresponder service. These services is something that every online marketer needs for there business, and he/she is therefore not likely to cancel for a very long time or until they give up their online ventures completely.
In conclusion, you should try and avoid the normal mistakes that affiliate marketers make by sending your customers to an sign up form first, pre-selling them to the product's benefits, and by avoiding affiliate commission theft. In addition, you should be going after programs with residual commissions but be sure to always evaluate the quality of the product you are recommending. To be able to do that, the best way is to try the product yourself first.

Most of us use search engines as a regular part of our daily routine both at work and home. Many of you probably have no idea that you can easily do a lot more with search. Invest 5 or 10 minutes here and I will help you open up a new world of search using Google. I promise it will be time well spent!
Did you know that you can limit your Google search to a specific site?
Let's say you would like only to search the CNN/Money site looking for information on "Ford". All you need to do is... ford site:money.cnn.com
People tell me all the time that I need to add search to my site. While I agree and have not gotten around to it I always tell them that my sites are well indexed by the search engines and that they can search my site today. For example... "credit card" site:everydollarmatters.com ...currently yields 33 page hits.
Is your search as comprehensive as it could be?
If you are researching the term "website development" did you know that you are potentially missing a bunch of other good sites? There are over 1.1 million indexed pages using the term "web site". Try... "website development" OR "web site development" ...and you will get back the top pages using both spellings.
Maybe you are searching for a decent tutorial on html or an online course. Try... "html tutorial" OR "html training" online
Or (no pun intended), you might be shopping for a forum in some areas that are of interest to you.
"living green" forum OR "global warming" forum
OR is a nice expansive google search operator.
What can you do to narrow down your search?
Sometimes you are looking for a specific phrase. For instance... "getting your website online" yields 1230 pages as opposed to getting your website online which yields 114,000,000 million pages Using quotes around the phrase will limit the result to that specific phrase.
Maybe you are researching the JFK assasination. You could search for... "kennedy assassination" "kennedy assassination" video.
You can also limit your google search to specific areas of the internet. For example:
*Google Book Search - Search the full text of books
*Google Code Search - Search public source code
*Google Scholar - Search scholarly papers
*Google News archive search - Search historical news
*US Government - Search all US federal, state and local government sites
*Universities - Search a specific school's website
To access this functionality just click on the "advanced search" hyperlink on the Google homepage. You will find these options towards the bottom of the page.
Often times you will receive page hits back that you are not interested in.
Suppose you were searching for the term six sigma and wanted to exclude all references to General Electric and Motorola. You could use the following search string... six sigma -ge -motorola -"general electric" ... The "-" minus sign is used to exclude certain keywords or phrases.
At my site you will find a "Quick Google Search Cheat Sheet". Happy searching.

If you store credit card numbers, electronic bank statements, account numbers, and other personal data on your computer you are at risk. The risk is even greater if you have a broadband or DSL connection that is available 24/7.
Spyware are programs that typically enter your computer through your browser. These programs can compromise your personal data. Additionally there are millions of hackers out there looking for ways to get into your computer. The internet is not the only way your personal data can be compromised. Your computer can be stolen or compromised within your home.
What can you do?
(1) Ensure that you have up to date anti-virus software installed. If you run Windows 2000 or XP both Avast and Antivir are great programs that have freeware versions. Google the names to find their websites. Both programs offer auto updates.
(2) Enable the Windows firewall and ensure that you have the latest Windows service pack and security patches installed.
(3) Use antispyware software. SuperAntiSpyware, AdAware, Spyware Blaster, and Spyware Terminator are all freeware programs that do a good job. Run them regularly and get frequent updates. Spyware is so prevalent it is a good idea to use more than one of these programs. Also, install McAffee SiteAdvisor. It is also free. This program works with Yahoo and Google and lets you know if you are going to a safe or unsafe site. Half the battle is not going to unsafe sites.
(4) Turn off your computer or turn off your cable modem when you are not online. Most cable modems have an on-off button. Log off your computer when it is not being used. This will keep you safe at home, though it will not keep you safe from internet intruders.
Is doing all of this enough?
Doing these four things will be a great start. There is still more that you can do. Obtain a copy of Cryptainer. This program comes in a freeware and shareware version. This programs allows you to turn one or more of your Windows folders into a vault as safe as Fort Knox.
The freeware version is limited to holding 25mb per folder which should be more than sufficient for most folks needs. This is a very secure program so you do not want to lose your password. Forget your password and you will never get to your files again.
You can get the free version of cryptainer from the http://anglesanddangles.com website. It can be found under the software tab.

Any business can benefit from the internet; they just have to know how. There are several things a business can to that are free to promote themselves and generate more cash. If you are just starting out online the learning curve can be staggering, but with a little know how you can beat the odds and promote your business to the top
If you are new to online marketing and do not have a website there are plenty of reputable places online who can help you build a website or point you in the right direction. I would recommend searching for free ebooks. You can find all you need to know about creating an online empire in free online ebooks. Don't waste your money on things that you don't know for sure are going to be exactly what you need. The more time you spend doing your research the better off you will be.
If you have a website and are ready to start generating traffic find a free traffic exchange. For beginners starting out online who do not have much money to spend these are a great places to start. You can surf for credits and the credits that you accumulate can then be used to advertise your business. This is a fabulous way to advertise for free.
If you do have some money to spend I would recommend trying pay-per click. This is the best way to get targeted traffic and if you are trying to make money target traffic is the traffic you want. Online business can be difficult but if you can get targeted traffic you have beaten the majority of the competition.
Businesses that operate online know that they need to stay abreast of the latest ideas and opportunities. One way to do that is to find a social forum that is interested in business. There many free forums that are full of business minded people looking for new products and ideas.
Online business forums are great places to network and learn. Sign up for a few and spend at least an hour a day visiting them, reading threads, and posting. You will meet many people, generate sales, and learn from these forums. You can also use them to advertise your website or product and most forums will allow you to add a signature link to your posts.
Another trend is towards relational marketing. Spaces like Squidoo, DirectMatches, and MySpace are becoming places where people can meet and build relationships as well as businesses. These places can be hubs for networking and getting new ideas and opportunities.
Network marketing can give your business the edge, or it can bury it. If you can keep learning and find the best ways to get traffic you can stay on top of your game. Find out more information and ideas for your home business at:

Home business is ideal. It allows people like you and me to stay home with our families. To be able to work when we need to and not when our boss tells us to. It allows a freedom that no other business offers.
Home business can be the fit that you've been looking for. And there are so many options and opportunities available. There is a plan for a home business that will fit everyone, the only thing holding people back is the finding of the opportunity that will fit.
Weeding through internet opportunities can be time consuming. There are thousands of places and sites on the internet that are claiming to be the perfect opportunity. They say they have the right option for you. They claim to know exactly what you are looking for, and that can be a problem.
Obviously, they don't know you. They don't know what you are passionate about; they don't know what your goals are for the next five or ten years. They don't know how much time or money you are willing or able to commit to any one opportunity.
In order to find the best internet opportunity you will need to look for researched opportunities. If you do your research and find opportunities that are supported by research and statistics you can help narrow the field.
One important key to finding an opportunity that will fit you is to look for things that you are passionate about. Consider your hobbies. What do you do in your spare time? Do you read, do you have pets, do you like to sew or build bird houses? Do you love to find a good deal, love to spend time shopping or watching sports?
If you find a niche that is related to something you love, you are much more likely to stick with that opportunity. You will spend time building it to work for you. You are much more likely to love what you are working on, and that is the key to home business.
If you love the opportunity you choose, it's not work. You will want to spend any extra time you have on it. You won't begrudge the time you spend building your home business, and thus you will be spending more time and building a bigger home business to make you the most money possible.
So many people get overwhelmingly excited about the hype of online business. There is a lot to get excited about. But be careful, getting caught up in the hype can lead to spending unnecessary money on things that you won't use, or on things you could find for free if you spend some time searching.

The key to succeeding online is traffic. Every online business will fail if they cannot get visitors to their site. There are thousands of opportunities to start your own business online but if you don't know the first thing about getting traffic you are doomed from the word go.
The first thing you need to know about getting targeted traffic is that it is not as easy as everyone says it will be. there are free traffic exchanges, pay per click advertising opportunities, blogging, article writing, and press releases to name a few. None of these will make much of a difference is you don not understand the basics of how to get targeted traffic.
What not everyone knows is that in order to be successful online you need to have a website that is attractive to search engine. Why? Because if it does not attract enough attention to itself it will end up buried at the bottom of literally millions of more attractive (at least to search engines) sites.
You want search engines to like your site because when they do they put you at the top of a search that is related to your site thus bringing your site to the attention of the online public and bringing you the most targeted traffic. How does your site become attractive to search engines? Backlinks. And not just any backlinks, relevant backlinks. The more related backlinks your site has the more popular your site will be and the higher it will rank in searches.
To get quality targeted people to your sites you need to build your backlinks. You need backlinks that tell the search engine that your site has the most information on a particular subject to offer the online searcher.
If you have a website that is selling fishing lure and you include backlinks from sites that offer products or information on a completely irrelevant topic, the search engine will conclude that you really aren't the most relevant site for the searcher. You aren't the expert and so they will offer a site that has more targeted information than yours. Therefore the site with the most targeted backlinks will get the most targeted traffic.

Musical instruments are a wonderful release of everyday stress. Musical instruments provide a stress outlet for adults and children. When deciding to purchase your first piano, there are a few key points one should keep in mind.
Pianos are expensive, and quite cumbersome to move around, thus purchasing the wrong piano is not an easily corrected mistake. Most people purchase upright pianos because of their compact size and basic simplicity. A smaller upright piano can be moved and adjusted inside the house, plus most can be transported in the back of a pickup truck if necessary, although it is always best to hire piano movers.
It is assumed that if you are purchasing a piano that you have at least tinkled on the keys a bit, even if you are not quite the proficient piano player. Pianos tend to have various key strengths, and trying them out prior to purchase is a good idea. I like a piano with a stronger touch, as it contributes to the tone I like to play in. Those who like to play softer classical music and sweet ballads tend to prefer a piano with a sifter touch to the keys.
Spinnet upright pianos are among the top choices for the beginner piano player. They offer a high quality tone for little money. Their smaller size makes them a logical choice for people without tons of space for something like a baby grand, but the small size doesn't compromise on sound.
Often new piano players consider purchasing an electronic keyboard instead of a piano. While it is perfectly possible to learn the basics of piano playing on a keyboard, don't be fooled into thinking it is the same thing. There are distinct differences. Aside from the loss of the pedals on the piano, there is a loss of complete and full sound that the piano offers that a keyboard simply can't match. In the world of musical instruments, there are piano players and there are keyboardists. While there are exceptions, most piano players do not enjoy the keyboard.
Purchasing a piano is a commitment. If you have never played a piano before, you may want to try out as many as possible before committing to the purchase. You may very well find that you prefer the keyboard if this is what you have been practicing on. While the keyboard may be slightly less expensive, you should aim your purchase at the instrument that you prefer to play.

Las Vegas may be the most preferable city for many people. Apart from being a desire city of gamblers and casino lovers all over the world, Vegas is also attractive for people who love all kinds of entertainment. Even though this city has great reputation of its civilization and casino but there are some other aspect that you have to come to discover for yourself.
According to this reason, Las Vegas is the city that gains massive number of tourist each year. Millions of tourists came to this civilized city to enjoy playing and relaxing. Definitely, there will be very strong competition between hotel accommodation industries in Las Vegas. Many of marketing strategy and tactics have been used to gain more guest and quality of the service.
However, it seems that one of the most common marketing strategies that has been used among all industry is to give discount, and for hotel industry is no exception. In the perspective of traveler, finding good quality hotel which can give excellent accommodation and impressive service in certain location is very easy, they can find loads of them by jest few mouse click. But the most difficult thing is to find fine hotel with great discount, especially in the city like Las Vegas, which everything seem to be very expensive and seems to be no hope to save money if they want to go to this city. Even though there seem to be just little hope on this, I would say that in fact, there are chances to get great discount for hotel if you wish to stay in Las Vegas and if you are lucky enough, you may find yourself get as great discount as 50% off!!
Firstly, I recommend that you won't have to stick with just two or three options, there are too many hotels accommodations available in the city. The tip to find possibility to get great discount is that you should plan to go during low season. In most case, hotels will offer great amount of discount up to 50% for specific room type or at least you can book in full rate but you will be offered to upgrade to more luxurious accommodation.
Booking hotel during low season is really benefits in terms of opportunity to get discounts. However, it is also depends on the type of the room and hotel themselves. In most case, many of hotels prefer to offer discount for its deluxe up to suite rooms. This is because studio or economy room may not worth to get the discount and they still get full occupancy.
The other of finding discount for hotels in the large city like Las Vegas is to contact travel agent or booking through website. The fact is that most of travel agents usually get very cheap rate to book the hotel depends on the volume of customer that they send to the hotel. If travel agent has high customer the greater discounts they will get from the contract rate, which sometimes that can get almost 50% off. Therefore, if you contact these travel agents and perform effective negotiation with them, then the discount will be offered to you definitely.

Beauty may only be skin deep, but beautiful skin makes a difference! Always begin your day treating the skin to a gentle cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. End each day with a well-deserved cleansing, toning, and nighttime moisturizing. Remember, you are worth the time. Take care of your skin.
Tips for a Five Minute Makeup Routine
1. Know your colors. What colors make you feel confident? What colors do you get compliments on? Are you warm or cool? Knowing what colors to wear will lessen the length of time it takes to get ready in the morning. Daytime makeup should be elegant, polished, and natural as seen in the model above.
2. Concealer: A quality corrector will be subtle and almost imperceptible. Apply a corrector with a sponge and smudge downward, making the corrector fade away. This will help create a natural finish.
3. Foundation: Your goal should be to use a foundation tone that will convert into an almost unnoticeable second skin. Always apply foundation in a direction called "combing the face." This means you should divide the face in half. Apply the foundation downwards. Blending downwards will help to create a more natural finish by avoiding a line on the jaw. Apply a powder if necessary. Not all people need a powder. The real function of a powder is to give a matte, shine-free finish. Some people prefer a more dewy finish.
4. Shadow: Choose natural-based shadows for daytime to keep professional and elegant. Using just two tones is a safe rule for daytime makeup. Remember that you don't want your eyes to be too jarring. Use eyeliner in a discreet tone if necessary.
5. Eyelashes: Groom and brush before applying mascara. You may want to curl the lashes to make the eyes appear more open. Once again, the less jarring, the more elegant you will look.
6. Brows: Groom. Groom. Groom. Your brows create your mood. Check for unruly hairs. Tweeze strays if necessary.
7. Rouge: Apply rouge remembering to use earth tones for a polished finish. Use your smile as a guide to create a natural blush zone.
8. The lips: Choose a liner that agrees with your lipstick. Remember to create harmony in your makeup. Fuchsia lipstick may not be the best choice for a daytime look.

Makeup should emphasize beauty and highlight your best features, not become a mask for which to hide. It is the eyes, the windows to your heart and character that are seen first. Your eyes create a focal point for creativity, fun, and elegance. Therefore, when applying eye makeup, it is necessary to create balance and harmony to reveal your true beauty.
Applying eye makeup can be a frightening concept if you are not equipped with the correct knowledge and equipment. Once you know the basics, you will find that applying eye makeup is fun. All you need is the right color, shadow brushes, an eye lining pencil, an eyelash curler, and mascara.
First, it is important to know that your eyes are a great place to begin to express yourself. Adding color to the eyes will automatically draw attention to them. Because of this, when you apply shadow, choose colors that complement your skin tone and eye color. Use the iris as a guide in choosing your color scheme. You want to create a polished elegant look.
Color Guide:
Blue Eyes
To emphasize blue eyes use gray, rose, mauve, purple, orange, peach, gold, or any shade of bronze. When selecting a shade of blue to go with the eyes follow the rule of opposites. (If the eye is dark blue, use sky blue; if the eye is icy blue, use darker blues, even indigo.)
Green Eyes
To emphasize green eyes use chestnut, royal purple, violet, plum, forest green, and brown. If the iris is a deep green, try using a darker eye shadow; if the iris is a pale green use a pale green eye shadow.
Hazel Eyes
To emphasize the green in hazel eyes use royal purple, rose, violet, and forest green. To make the eye more brown, use chestnut.
Brown Eyes
To emphasize brown eyes use copper, bronze, champagne, beige, forest green, gold, and other metallics. Using shades of green will complement brown eyes.
Brown-Black Eyes
To emphasize deep brown eyes use tones that are lighter and pearly to bounce more light. Try a sheer green.
The secret to applying Eye Makeup
When applying eye makeup, remember that a small amount goes a long way. It is best to start applying the shadow lightly, building up to intensity desired. Since you can alter the shape and look of your eyes using eye makeup, begin by tracing the brow bone with your finger or shadow tool to get a feel for the shape of your eye. It is important to note that you do no want to apply eye shadow above your brow bone; rather, you will be blending upward towards the brow bone.
How to use a brush to apply your eye shadows
Apply your shadow using a shadow brush in a medium size. The brush will give you more control. A larger eye shadow brush will give more coverage for the total eye. A smaller shadow brush will give a more defining line. Keep in mind that you will want to use a synthetic brush for creams and a natural hair brush for powder. Using these brushes for specific eye makeup will make clean-up easier.
1. Begin applying the shadow to the mobile eye, making sure that the shadow covers evenly and is blended carefully in an upward movement. Remember to blend toward the brow bone. Keeping the brush moving in circular movements will help create an even blend of color. Shadow should be applied toward the lachrymal area, or inner corner, and blended.
2. Apply the shadow on the opposite eye. Be sure to create equal looks. Uneven shadow will upset the balance and harmony.
3. Apply the eyeliner to the top of the eye, close to the lashes. This will create thickness. You can also line the bottom lashes lightly for a more dramatic and defined look. Remember that when you apply loner, black is more commonly used for nighttime and brown or navy for daytime.
4. For more emphasis, apply a pearly white or ivory in the inner corner of the eyes and above the brow bone to highlight the eyes. Blend carefully so that the shadow highlights and does not appear as a polka dot in the corner of the eye or a harsh line below the brow.
5. Finish applying eye makeup with mascara. Curl the lashes to further open the eyes. Once again, when applying eye makeup, it is best to begin with a light coat of mascara on both top and bottom lashes. You can build intensity by applying another coat, depending on the look desired. Look up when applying mascara to the lashes.
Critical factors to consider when applying eye make up
Remember: Your goal is to emphasize your natural beauty and create harmony. Keep these factors in mind when selecting and applying your eye makeup:
personality
age
skin color
eye color
hair color
wardrobe
accessories
event

We can't all be blessed with normal skin. Unfortunately, for many of us, oily skin is our struggle. On the positive side, those with oily skin have skin that doesn't show the signs of aging as quickly as other skin types. So, when life gives you lemons, create lemon juice and water to apply on oily skin. Rinse with warm water.
Oily skin can occur at different stages in your life; adolescence, pregnancy, and menopause. Hormones can play a role in oily skin. Oily skin is characterized by large pores, dullness, a grease-like appearance, and roughness. The sebaceous gland produces excess oil thus giving the skin the shine associated with oily skin. Washing the face several times a day can make the situation worse, causing the gland to produce even more oil. Choosing the right skin regimen and makeup for oily skin is not as difficult as it might seem.
Identifying Your Skin Type
It is important to know your skin type. Examine your face closely. Do you see large pores, flakes, or redness? Each can indicate a different skin type or be indicators of oily skin. Take a tissue to your face and blot. Did you absorb oil? If your self-examination reveals large pores and oil on the tissue, you could have oily skin. The redness can be from excessive washing or sensitive skin. I have combination skin. It is very oily with large pores in the t-zone and dry around my cheeks. If you are still unsure, consult a dermatologist or aesthetician.
Taking Care of Oily Skin
Caring for your skin now will provide benefits for the future. Your skin will thank you five years from now. Know how to take care of you skin, both inside and out. It is important to drink water so that the skin remains hydrated. Taking vitamins, especially vitamin B2 and B5 will also help your body. These vitamins can help the skin look more radiant and improve paleness.
Products for Preparing Oily Skin for Makeup
When cleansing, use an oil-based cleanser since it will help dissolve oil better. Do not use harsh cleaners that leave the skin feeling tight. This tightness will restrict oil flow and lead to clogged pores later. Also, massage the face when cleansing to avoid pushing dirt and oil into the pores. Scrubbing will clog the pores. Rinse with warm water to help dissolve oil. Use a mud or clay mask one or two times a week.
Read labels. Look for products that are for oily skin. Avoid products that contain alcohol since alcohol dries the skin. Petroleum based products such as mineral oil contain too much oil and can further clog pores. Use astringents containing acetone. Acetone dissolves oil better. Moisturizers need to be oil-free. You may only need to moisturize certain areas such as around the eyes. Mature skin will need to moisturize the entire face.
I find that applying cucumber juice before applying makeup helps my skin's appearance. Witch-hazel will do the same. Both are excellent ways to create a more balanced ph for the skin. You may even want to spritz lavender water on your face several times a day. It is a good hydrator for oily skin as well as providing antiseptic properties.
Makeup for Oily Skin
Read labels. There are some items that should be avoided and some items that you should look for in makeup for oily skin. There are certain makeup companies that are known for their work in designing products for specific skin types. I recommend Clinique. It has a reputation for excellent care and products. I also like Jane Iredale Cosmetics. This is a mineral based line used by many dermatologists.
Avoid
1. Avoid products containing oil from petroleum. This includes mineral oil. Use oil-free makeup or makeup that is intended to benefit oily skin.
2. Avoid makeup that contains alcohol. Alcohol will strip the skin of oil, which may cause the body to produce even more.
3. Look for ingredients such as bismuth oxychloride and dimenthicone. Both can clog pores and may cause blemishes. These are commonly found in foundation or powder based products.
Beneficial
1. Find foundations that contain titanium dioxide, a naturally occurring sun protector.
2. Makeup for oily skin should contain serecite to reduce the appearance of pores and help absorb oil.
3. Kaolin clay added in foundation will help oil control.
4. Zinc oxide used in makeup will act as an anti-inflammatory.
A makeup artist will use products designed for a customer's skin type in order to promote healthy skin. It is equally important for the makeup artist to become familiar with products and ingredients for specific skin care. Knowing how to take care of a customer's skin will benefit the client and the makeup artist's reputation.

Sexy, appealing eyes are nothing new to women. We have known for thousands of years how to attract and allure using the power of our eyes. Just look at the ancient Egyptians. Cleopatra certainly knew what she was doing using kohl to dramatically line her eyes.
Sexy eyes are not about shockingly bright colors; rather sexy eyes are about creating the perfect almond shaped eye. Women in the early 1900s knew that large, almond shaped eyes were appealing. Once again, we come full circle to the Egyptians and their heavily lined almond shape.
So how do we achieve a sexy eye without looking like a raccoon or a Halloween character?
How to Apply Sexy Eye Makeup
1. Begin applying sexy eye makeup with a clean and moisturized face. It is important for the makeup to not mix with oils and dirt from the skin. This could make the makeup look messy and just plain bad.
2. Keep the colors neutral when applying sexy eye makeup. Choose pallets in brown, charcoal, black, or gray. Bright colors may make the eyes appear smaller. Choose a vanilla tone to highlight. Vanilla works well on most women. White can be harsh for this effect.
3. Eyeliner will create the illusion of bigger, more seductive eyes. Eyeliner can also help to correct eye shape giving the eyes the desired almond shape which is characteristic of sexy eyes. Begin by lining the top lash line from the inner corner and extending the line slightly past the edge. Use a soft pencil or powder so that the line is not harsh. Harsh lines might make you look angry, not sexy. You can go over the line using an angled brush to create a smoother finish and fan out the edges so that the line is not too harsh.
4. Line the bottom outer third of the lower lid keeping close to the lash line and extend slightly past the edge.
5. Remember that we are going for an almond shape. Judge the line to see that it creates the shape of an almond. You may need to make the line thicker depending upon the shape of your eye. A perfectly shaped eye will immediately give the illusion of sexiness. If you look at fashion models in magazines, even the minimalist has carefully shaped the eye for an almond look.
6. For sexy eyes, we are going to open up the eyes to make them appear larger; therefore, we must gradually increase the color as we move toward the brow. Begin with dark shadow. If you line the eyes with brown, choose chocolate shadow. Apply color to the mobile eye making sure that the color intensity is darkest close to the lashes and outer third of the eye to create the desired almond shape of a sexy eye. The intensity should decrease as you move towards the crease.
7. Check for the desired shape and that the color intensity is equal on both eyes.
8. Apply shadow to the lower lid sweeping it towards the outer corner. Be sure to keep the intensity light or you may look like a raccoon. You can always increase the intensity if you desire. Concentration should b on the outer third.
9. Fill in the inner corner of the eye and above the brow bone using vanilla to highlight and open the eyes. This will make the eyes appear even larger and finish the sexy eye makeup.
10. Curl the lashes to further open the eyes and apply mascara to both top and bottom. Fan the lashes when applying the mascara to make the eyes appear sexy and large. Concentrate more mascara on the outer third of the lashes.

Natural makeup is a term used to describe makeup that mimics tones and hues already within one's complexion. A complexion consists of many hues and undertones. The ultimate goal of applying natural makeup is to create harmony with what nature has provided. Often times, natural makeup is confused with no makeup. No makeup just implies a lack of effort and time; natural makeup is actually, just the opposite. It is carefully selected and applied to enhance features so that they appear to have been a genetic gift of beauty.
This is not to suggest that natural makeup means spending an outstanding amount of time applying and outstanding amount of makeup. It just means spending quality time applying makeup strategically. Let me explain.
To Begin Natural Makeup
1. Always begin with a cleansed, toned, and moisturized face and eye area. Being of mature skin, I use an alpha hydroxy serum for gentle exfoliation and promotion of smoother skin. The serum will help rid the skin of the dull, ashy appearance and improve the color of the skin by getting rid of dead skin cells on the layer of the skin.
2. When applying natural makeup, I like to look back to photographs of my youthful days to remember the colors that lit up my face as a child. I look at the cheeks and lips to get an idea of pink or peach. Over the years, hair color changes, skin changes, and we no longer see the colors that nature once gave to us. This is a once and done deal. Once you look at your photograph and decide which colors were natural to your skin, the rest is easy.
Applying Natural Makeup
1. Next, you may still need to correct under eye circles. No matter how natural you want to be, if you have bags and circles, you just look tired!
2. Not everyone needs to wear foundation. A tinted moisturizer is a wonderful trick to natural makeup. You are adding well-deserved nourishment to the skin with an added benefit; a tint of color. You may also opt for applying a bit of foundation to only the parts that show redness to even out the complexion. The truly blessed are those that need just a great moisturizer to add a healthy glow. The end result of natural makeup foundation is to return the skin to the youthful glow. This is why heavy foundations and matte finishes are seldom used in natural makeup.
3. As a child, my cheeks were always rosy. This is the inspiration for natural makeup. Use a rouge that is similar to those pictures. If you cannot tell due to the quality of picture or the lack of color try this easy trick: gently pinch your cheeks. Remember: Gently. Black and blue is not in the natural color scheme. A gentle pinch will give you insight to your skin's natural blush shade. Apply the rouge to the apples of your cheeks. I sometimes sweep a bronzer or rouge to the areas of my face where the sun would kiss. Once again, this gives a natural glow. Just be careful not to apply too much. You don't want to look sunburned.
4. Natural eye makeup is simple. Keep to neutral shades. Colors such as taupe, brown, peach, and mauve give freshness to the eyes without overpowering the skin. These neutral colors will allow your natural features to shine by complementing the iris. When applying natural makeup, I keep the color families for eyes, cheeks, and lips the same. Use your natural blush as the guide for choosing colors. Since I have naturally rosy cheeks and pink lips, I use a light mauve shadow, a rose blush, and clear gloss with a rose tint. The colors don't compete and are not the focus of my face; instead, the dewy glow is the focus.
5. A light powder liner can be applied to make the lashes appear thicker as in our younger days. You may see that liner is not necessary.
6. Curl the eyelashes and apply a brown or clear mascara to add length. Brown is a natural color that won't add drama, but only lengthen and fill in areas that may be sparse.
7. Use a lipstick that is creamy and close to your natural lip tone. Apply a dab of gloss to the center of the lips to emphasize fullness. In place of a creamy lipstick, try a tinted gloss. Tinted glosses are excellent for adding a pinch of color and sheen all in one.
Is Natural Makeup Natural?
Yes, yes, yes. Natural makeup is fresh and dewy. It lets the world see your beauty. Is it an oxymoron? That might be for you to decide, I myself, love it.
