Marketing experts have devised a very powerful way of promoting products and services - SMS marketing. SMS marketing helps brands in retaining the loyalty of their customers. They enable brands to engage with their audiences by encouraging response and feedback, resulting in high interactivity. SMS marketing also helps in informing the customers about new innovative campaigns and product launches. However, before launching an SMS marketing campaign, it is important to know the different specifications involved in it.

Today, a large number of small and medium sized businesses are using bulk sms marketing campaigns to market their respective brands. Out of all the SMS marketing solutions, bulk texting has gained the highest popularity among brands, as it is known to save a lot of money and time. After the advent of bulk texting, sending across a single message to a wider audience became easier, thus simplifying the process of mass marketing. Growing more and more popular with each day, bulk texting is all set to take over the SMS marketing domain. Apart from bulk texting, mobile or SMS marketing also includes infrared and bluetooth marketing, MMS marketing and a number of other SMS marketing solutions.

Apart from being a great medium of communication, mobile phones have also proven to be an effective marketing medium. SMS marketing, which is the most basic of all campaigns, is an effective marketing tool which can be executed using mobile phones. Today, people may or may not have an internet connection or even a computer at home, but they definitely have a mobile phone. Even people who don't read the newspaper or watch television jump at the sound of their message tone. Bulk sms marketing does not even require a GPRS package to be enabled on a phone, which makes it an effective tool in order to reach a wider base of audience. In bulk texting, a single message can me sent to multiple recipients at the same time, thus eliminating the need to type in the same message over and over again.

Another popular SMS marketing tool that is used by companies is sms long codes which is a telephone number that can be used to expand the audience base of a company. This tool has carved a niche for itself, not only in the telecommunications market, but also in the commercial market. Many brands are using long codes to achieve engagement in value added services too. Using long codes is the most cost effective and convenient method of advertising. With sms long codes, a unique keyword is given to each company which helps in directing messages to that particular long code.

Today, the audience of any brand can be easily targeted with the help of effective marketing solutions like long codes and bulk texting. However, the wonders of bulk texting and other marketing products are not only limited to brands and small companies. Now, it is also being used by the government in order to reach out to its citizens.

Article Title: Increase Productivity by Reducing Delays With Predictive Dialing

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

All too often, a call center for polls and marketing have too many agents idling away minutes every hour waiting for the dialing software to connect them with a new call. Single number dialers working their way through a targeted marketing list or polling schedule are thorough, never missing a number and are great for pulling call data. However, since they only handle one number at a time, the dialer may be the most inefficient part of your operation. By using a predictive dialing system, not only do you maintain the thoroughness of a single number dialer but you add predictive analysis routines designed to reduce the wasted minutes an agent sits idle.

    Why A Predictive Dialer?

With a predictive dialer, mathematics and psychology have been brought into play to create an algorithm to improve consistent connectivity. This, in turn, creates a production environment designed to keep agents busier, more effective and more efficient which means you are spending less money for the information you're looking for or for the derivative sales you need. While predictive dialers work much the same way as a traditional dialer, there are some important differences.

For instance, based on information procured through data analysis for your area or for your targeted audience, a baseline number of average calls answered per calls made can give you a baseline for your predictive dialer algorithm. If one call is answered for every four calls made, the predictive dialing software can dial four numbers each time an agent comes free. This increases the odds that an agent will receive a new call as soon as one is completed increases dramatically.

Another way predictive dialing increases marketing efforts is by using the timing aspect of calls. As an example., if the average call for an agent lasts 90 seconds, a new calling attempt by a dialing system will begin the new round of calls at 80 seconds. This reduces the cycle time between calls, virtually eliminating the lag time agents have to cope with during a session. According to Douglas Samuelson in the article titled "Predictive Dialing For Outbound Telephone Call Centers", a good predictive dialer can increase agent productivity from 40 minutes per hour (66% productivity) to as much as 57 minutes per hour (95% productivity).

By using targeted call lists, not only do you achieve better results but you also avoid many of the Do Not Call Registry limitations imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and can minimize the problems commonly associated with using dialers with cell phones. With the proper predictive dialing software or equipment, your polling or marketing department call centers can reach that 95% productivity category.

    Stand-Alone Or Hosted?

Using a web-based or hosted predictive dialer reduces hardware costs while maintaining the same levels of productivity on a per agent basis. A stand-alone dialing system requires both custom hardware and software which can add avoidable expenses. Using a VoIP or hosted solution you will further reduce costs if your business already uses internet connectivity as a main pipeline for polling or sales.

While a stand-alone solution used to be a great solution for most businesses, with the advent of the internet and the reduced costs of VoIP telephony and the flexibility of today's computing systems, a hosted solution is much more effective. Virtually every business today is using the internet in one way or another, even if it is for simple email communications. Some businesses are internet-saturated with web sites, cloud computing and social media integration which means migrating from a stand-alone dialing system to a hosted VoIP system only makes economical sense.

In today's economy and with privacy and civil liberty issues, taking advantage of the benefits of predictive dialing can increase your call throughput while increasing efficiency levels for all agents. You'll also be able to reduce costs on a per agent basis as well as on the overall costs of your polling or marketing campaign. If you're looking at a telephone based marketing or polling campaign, a predictive dialer solution will be in your future.

Article Title: Best Grand Canyon Memorial Day Tours

Are you making your plans for Memorial Day weekend? Will you be in the American Southwest? If so, consider taking a Grand Canyon tour – they're terrific. Your choices include bus, plane, helicopter and rafting tours, and they'll all be running on their regular schedules for Memorial Day. Book your tour soon; based on last year, they'll probably sell out quickly.

Most Grand Canyon tours start in Las Vegas and visit the West Rim, but several begin in Tusayan, AZ (just outside the South Rim's main gates). Those tours do that rim.

    South Rim from Tusayan

Chopper tours here fall into two categories: 30-minute flights and 50-minute flights. I recommend the longer flight, especially the deluxe version that uses an EcoStar 130 aircraft. This particular chopper has comfortable stadium-style seating and a panoramic, 180-degree window for great sightseeing.

I also recommend the plane tour that flies the same route as the deluxe helicopter tour – it covers the South, East and North Rims along with everything in between. You'll have seen almost ľ of the National Park by the time your flight's over!

Some terrific all-day rafting tours are also offered at the South Rim. The standard version combines a bus ride with smooth-water rafting down the Colorado. The deluxe version substitutes a plane ride for the bus and includes the rafting trip but adds a 4x4 tour of the "slot canyons" at Antelope Canyon. These rafting packages are great for families because kids four and up can participate – there aren't any rapids.

    Vegas Tour Packages

Las Vegas is known for its famous Grand Canyon tours – especially by bus. You can choose a South Rim bus tour package (6 hours and 270 miles one-way) or a West Rim bus tour (only 120 miles from Vegas). Optional West Rim tour extensions include helicopter flights, access to the Grand Canyon Skywalk (the "Glass Bridge"), and rafting trips. South Rim bus tours can be upgraded to include a thrilling rim-to-rim chopper flight.

Speaking of chopper flights, most folks think the helicopter tour that lands on the canyon floor and comes with a champagne picnic is the most exciting tour that goes from Vegas to the West Rim. You'll fly over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead before making that exhilarating 4,000-foot descent.

Other helicopter Grand Canyon tours include flights over the Vegas Strip, sunset flights and tours that come with VIP access to the Glass Bridge.

Airplane tours do the same things but are much less expensive than helicopter flights. If you want to fly down to the canyon floor, you get off your plane and transfer to a chopper.

If you'll be based in Vegas but want to see the spectacular South Rim, consider a plane tour that flies there directly. The package includes a two-hour bus tour of the Park, and the flight to the Rim only takes an hour (way better than the six hours the bus ride takes).

    Conclusion

Hopefully you'll be able to visit the canyon this Memorial Day weekend. The holiday is coming up fast, so you'll need to book soon. Don't wait too long because these tours usually sell out fast, especially holiday weekend tours. Remember to buy your tickets on the Internet so you get the special online discount. It can save some big-time cash!

If you can't make it for Memorial Day, consider going there for Father's Day! You'll have plenty of choices for bus, airplane, helicopter and rafting tours.

Once it has been determined that you will undergo minimally invasive back or neck surgery, the next step is to decide on a surgeon and a surgical center. Be sure to ask your primary care physician whether you might be a candidate for a minimally invasive procedure. These endoscopic procedures carry far less risk and generally require a shorter period of recuperation than open back or neck surgery.

If you are a candidate, it is vital that you find exactly the right surgery center for you. Here are a few items to consider:

    • Is the facility you are considering accredited through a reputable organization such as the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)?

    • Is the center appointed with the latest in laser surgical technology?

    • Does it have a comforting vibe in the examination rooms, the medical imaging labs, the operating rooms, as well as the public waiting room and lobby?

    • Does it have helpful, friendly, courteous, informative employees in the lobby, on the phone, and behind the scenes?

    • Is it well-appointed with amenities for patients and their companions?

    Where to Look

Some of the items on the list above can be discovered online. In fact, the Internet is the ideal place to conduct your research, because you can learn a great deal of information in a relatively short amount of time without having to leave your home.

Go online to your favorite search engine, and input the type of surgery you anticipate undergoing. That should display a number of facilities, which you can search for separately using additional, modifying terms such as, [patient comments], [online reviews], [complaints], and [certifications]. Do not make the mistake of crossing off a particular facility based on one or two poor reviews. Instead, try to find a pattern in the comments and reviews. Remember that one disgruntled patient or former employee can produce thousands of words demeaning a medical facility, making it seem as if there is a major problem. However, many negative reviews from many sources should give you pause.

    Other Sources of Information

You should first ask your primary care physician to suggest a surgery center. After that, follow up with questions for neighbors, friends, or family members who have undergone similar procedures. Word of mouth can teach you a lot about a surgical center, especially when you talk to those who have actually gone through the experience themselves. If you feel comfortable sharing news about your health with your friends and acquaintances on social media, crowd-source a general question about the topic. You might be surprised how many people have been in your shoes, and how helpful they can be.

    Research the Surgeons

In addition to learning everything you possibly can about the surgery center itself, you'll want to choose the right surgeon to perform your procedure. Many of the same research methods you use to find the facility can be used to find a surgeon. However, be sure to use many of the same precautions about not believing everything you read on the Internet. In addition, you should take the time to interview several surgeons before you give your consent. Skill, experience, and certifications are important factors, but it is also vital that you pick a surgeon you are not intimidated by. An unsocial personality does not mean someone is not a good surgeon, but a positive mindset is important for a patient. A gentle smile and reassuring words from the surgeon go a long way toward helping a patient relax and feel confident.

    How to Approach the Interviews

Speaking of confidence, be sure of yourself during the interview process. Learn as much as you can about your condition and the procedure before talking to the surgeons, so you can ask the right questions and understand the answers. If there is anything during the interview that you don't fully understand, do not hesitate to ask. Don't be afraid of seeming ignorant in the eyes of a surgeon or medical staff. Of course it's all new to you, and any reasonable, well-intentioned surgeon or medical staffer will gladly encourage you ask as many question as you need to.

If you're suffering from neck or back pain, you're probably thinking about consulting a physician of some sort to help you diagnose the cause of your discomfort and recommend treatments. There are many types of healthcare professionals who can likely help you, based on their unique expertise and area of specialization. So, how do you know which type of physician you should visit first?

Begin with Your Primary Care Physician

It's always best to check in first with your primary care physician or provider (PCP) when you're experiencing neck or back pain. While your PCP may not necessarily specialize in spine conditions, he or she may be able to help form an initial diagnosis of what's causing your discomfort.

To do so, your PCP will likely want to know about:

    • The location, severity, and frequency of your symptoms

    • Whether you're experiencing shooting pains, numbness, weakness, or tingling in the arms or legs

    • Whether you've had previous spine injuries

    • Whether you've had previous surgeries

    • Whether you have a family history of spine conditions

    • Whether specific movements improve or worsen your symptoms

Your PCP may also order diagnostic imaging, such as an X-ray, that can help reveal whether degenerative changes in the spine is potentially contributing to your pain. For example, he or she may be able to identify whether a bulging disc or bone spur is compressing the spinal cord or nerve roots. If your PCP cannot determine exactly why your neck or back hurts, he or she may refer you to a specialist.

    Types of Specialists

It's likely that your PCP will recommend a particular type of spine specialist based on the information he or she gathers about your symptoms, medical history, and previous health conditions. There are a variety of medical professionals who specialize in spine conditions, symptoms, and treatments, but each one has a specific area of knowledge.

In addition to your physician's recommendation, it can be helpful to do some research about the different types of spine specialists to see which type could best help you.

Some types of spine specialists include:

    • Orthopedists – diagnose and treat conditions of the musculoskeletal system, which consists of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and muscles of the body

    • Physical therapists – employ techniques such as low-impact aerobics, strength training, and other non-surgical methods to improve body mechanics and strengthen core muscles; other physical therapy treatments might include massage and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)

    • Neurologists – diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system; as the specialty relates to neck and back pain, a neurologist can determine the best methods to relieve compression of the spinal cord or a nerve root caused by an anatomical abnormality

    • Rheumatologists – diagnoses and treats conditions that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation of the joints or muscles; a rheumatologist can help determine the best methods to relieve symptoms caused by arthritic facet joints

In addition to researching the types of spine specialists that could help you, it's also important to confirm that whichever specialist you ultimately choose to see is certified by a specialty board within the American Board of Medical Specialties. Board certification ensures that a doctor has met or exceeded educational and ethical requirements.

    Surgery Isn't Always the Answer

You should also know that most spine conditions can be treated with a regimen of nonsurgical, conservative treatments. As a result, surgery is rarely necessary and is usually reserved for patients who have first exhausted all forms of nonsurgical therapies. If a spine specialist is pressuring you into having surgery, get medical opinions from one or more additional specialists and make sure you are 100 percent comfortable with all of the risks and benefits associated with any procedure before you sign any consent form.

A strong relationship between the doctor and patient is important on multiple levels for the care of the patient. If a patient believes in the competence and skill of the doctor, they may be more willing to reveal certain aspects of their medical issues or trust and implement specific medical advice from their doctor into their treatment.

When it comes to treatment and recovery, a patient's mental outlook is almost as important as their physical status. Patient recovery periods may decrease if they believe that have had and are currently receiving the most effective medical treatment available. Likewise, a doctor may be more comfortable with a patient who has shown trust, relieving the doctor's worries about malpractice claims and expanding their possibilities for treatment. The doctor and patient can both take steps toward increasing their trust for one another, thus strengthening their relationship and fostering an atmosphere of encouragement and care.

    Lay Out a Thorough Plan

It's the responsibility of both the patient and doctor to establish a thorough plan for the patient's diagnosis, treatment, and recovery periods. For the patient, this means understanding every step of the process and asking the necessary questions when they arise. If a patient is not clear on their plan from the beginning, they may lose trust in their doctor and consequently harm the relationship. By making sure they understand the doctor's goals, the patient is confirming their trust in the doctor's abilities and is mentally prepared to pursue treatment.

The doctor's responsibility is to establish personalized treatment plans for each of their patients. Sometimes, it can be easy to give patients with the same ailments similar treatment plans. However, every patient is unique and their treatment plans will vary depending on their age, sex, or general health. By tailoring each patient's plan directly to their individual capabilities, the doctor ensures that the patient is comfortable with their plan. Also, it's the doctor responsibility to put medical jargon into plain terms for the patient so there is no miscommunication between the two.

Communicate Between Doctors, Patients, and Insurance Policies

Insurance policies can have elaborate and difficult legal wordings. Most patients do not fully understand their own coverage policies and insurance representatives often emphasize particular points to patients or doctors in order to make their policies sound more appealing. Other times, insurance representatives may try to dictate the treatment of their client based upon what's in the best interest of the company.

It's the responsibility of the doctor and patient to work together to make sure the treatment plan that they have laid out falls within the patient's insurance policy. Ideally, all three groups share the same primary concern, which is that of the health of the patient. However, if a patient perceives that they are not receiving treatment that is to their greatest benefit, they may look to place blame on their doctor. Once the trust is lost, the relationship is destroyed. In order to avoid these situations, most hospitals offer financial assistance teams to help the doctors and patients work together within a specific insurance policy.

Utilize Every Resource, Including Each Other

Many patients turn to the internet to research a diagnosis they have received or to identify certain symptoms they may be having. While there is some great information available on the web, patients should make sure that they trust the word of their doctor over the words they read online. Every individual's diagnosis is unique, and information found on the internet may apply to broad diagnoses that aren't applicable to the particular patient's situation.

Doctors should consider different resources they can use to effectively communicate with their patients. Electronic mobile devices are excellent ways to visualize information and can be extremely useful in explaining a complicated concept. As long as the patient and doctor have open communication with one another, utilizing outside resources to better understand a treatment or diagnosis can benefit the patient/doctor relationship.

Outpatient or ambulatory surgery centers are facilities where surgeons perform procedures that do not require patients to be hospitalized. Most surgery centers practice endoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive technique that requires only a small incision. Endoscopic surgery is equally as effective as traditional surgery and can drastically reduce recovery times.

Because surgery centers are not as regulated as hospitals, it's important that they become accredited by one of the major accreditation organizations. Accredited surgery centers are just as safe as hospital surgery units and can often times perform endoscopic procedures faster than hospitals, as well as offer patients more personalized treatment. By specializing in certain fields and procedures, ambulatory surgery centers offer the highest level of quality in a cost-effective manner. Knowing how centers specialize is an important part in choosing the surgery center that will best address your medical needs.

    Ophthalmology

Eye specialists are the most frequently sought after ambulatory surgery centers. Ophthalmology centers can perform everything from common cataract and LASIK surgery, to more difficult procedures that help treat glaucoma. Because ophthalmology centers specialize in eye surgery, they are more likely to have advanced technology and more experience for certain procedures.

For example, cataract surgery is a common procedure in which cataracts are removed and custom intraocular lenses are inserted into the patient's eyes. Surgery centers specializing in ophthalmology may be better positioned to purchase new technology like the femtosecond laser, which decreases recovery times and provides more safety for the patient. Accredited ophthalmology surgery centers may also employ multiple ophthalmologists and offer a wide range of procedural abilities.

    Orthopedics

There are multiple fields of specialization for orthopedic surgery centers. Whereas some surgery centers may specialize in one field, like spinal surgery, others offer a wide variety of procedures from multiple orthopedic surgeons. These procedures can include reconstructive surgeries for breaks and tears, arthroscopic procedures for the knee and shoulder, or hand, foot, and ankle surgeries. Depending on the specific procedure a patient's medical condition requires, it can be in the patient's benefit to choose a specialized or more expansive surgery center.

For sports injuries, it may be in the patient's benefit to find a surgery center that can perform their specific procedure, as well as offer pain management services. If the sports injury is recurrent, a steroid or cortisone injection may be necessary throughout their treatment. However, for very specific procedures like relieving a pinched nerve with a foraminotomy, a spinal surgery clinic specializing in endoscopic surgery would provide the best treatment.

    Gastrointestinal (GI)

Most gastrointestinal surgery centers specialize in colonoscopy and enteroscopy procedures that help doctors see problems which may not appear on imaging tests. A colonoscopy allows doctors to see ulcers, abnormal growths or bleeding in the colon or large bowel, and inflamed mucous linings in the intestine. An enteroscopy is a procedure that allows doctors to see a direct visualization of the small bowel. Through an enteroscopy, a doctor may be able to diagnose and treat hidden GI bleeding or locate and remove sores without damaging the healthy tissues. Both exams are also thorough ways for doctors to screen for colorectal cancer.

    Pain Management

Pain management centers usually employ a team of health care professionals that can offer a variety of services. From surgeons, to physicians, to psychologists, or physical therapists, the team of professionals can help every aspect of an individual patient's chronic pain. For minimally invasive surgical procedures, doctors may repair damaged nerves through an endoscope or inject corticosteroids into muscles or joints to relieve irritation, swelling, and muscle spasms.

Some non-invasive treatment options at pain management clinics may include acupuncture, electrical stimulation, or relaxation techniques. Physical and aquatic therapy may be available for long-term rehabilitation processes as well. Because the range of treatments for chronic pain is so diverse, not every pain management center is the same, so consult a doctor and set up introductory meetings to make sure your pain management center can effectively treat your medical conditions.

There are more opportunities to find work in the healthcare field than ever before. As new technologies are expanding the ways in which we communicate, research, and perform tasks in healthcare, the need for healthcare professionals has extended into all facets of the industry. Whether you're interested in becoming a doctor or nurse, or you're looking to get into healthcare through public health or medical sales, there are plenty of opportunities for individuals who are highly motivated and have a strong work ethic.

    Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Becoming a doctor takes a lot of hard work and discipline, as well as a natural ability to excel in the sciences. However, medical schools accept students from different educational and vocational backgrounds. Once accepted, medical students will undergo four years of intense clinical training. During this time, medical students will observe and take part in patient care through rotations in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, neurology, and psychiatry.

Once a medical student has graduated from medical school, they will participate in at least three years of residency and choose their area of specialization. After they've completed a residency or fellowship, the doctor must obtain a medical license and become a board certified physician. Once all of the education, training, and certifications are complete, a doctor may join a group practice, start their own private practice, join a clinic, or remain hospital based. Even though the path for becoming a doctor is long and difficult, doctors enjoy a profession based on helping others that is both highly challenging and rewarding.

    Other Clinical Job Opportunities

Outside of medical school, there are a variety of options in the healthcare field that provide alternatives for those unable or willing to pursue an MD Most fields require education beyond a bachelor's degree, but they offer competitive salaries and the rewards of direct patient care. Some options for other clinical jobs include:

    • Physical Therapy

    • Physician Assistants

    • Occupational Therapy

    • Medical Radiology

    • Nutrition

    • Pharmacy

    • Nursing

    • And more

Like medical students, those pursuing clinical job opportunities face rigorous courses and testing, but once they pass licensing exams and receive certifications, these individuals have the opportunity to work directly with patients in their specialty areas.

    Public Health

Working in healthcare does not always mean participating in direct patient care. A career in public health allows for professionals of various skill sets to stay involved in the industry without necessarily working in a hospital or doctor's office. Many public health graduates work in local, state, or federal health departments with jobs ranging from epidemiology to public health education.

There are also plenty of opportunities for healthcare professionals in non-profit organizations. Case management is an important part of non-profit organizations in which professionals help particular individuals with their specific health or financial needs. Case managers organize insurance policies, order prescriptions, make doctor's appointments, and work individually with each of their clients. Working in public health usually requires someone to have excellent communication and organizational skills. While professionals may not be working in direct patient care, they still retain the rewarding aspects of helping others in the healthcare field.

    Health Administration or Medical Sales

These positions are for those who are more interested in the business side of healthcare. Health administrators can be responsible for running an entire facility or be responsible for operations within a specific department of a hospital. Some jobs in health administration include:

    • Policy Analysis

    • Finance

    • Accounting

    • Budgeting

    • Marketing

    • Human Resources

Another career opportunity related to the business end of healthcare is medical sales. Because medical sales often requires very specified knowledge of the equipment, students who took pre-med courses in college or have some specific medical training often find medical sales interesting and challenging. While a job in medical sales is usually commission based, professionals have high ceilings for success if they are motivated to succeed.

Whether you have an important presentation to give in front of a lot of people, or you get put on the spot in a social setting, almost everyone feels anxiety or panic at certain moments in their lives. However, there is a point where these natural human emotions cross a threshold and become serious medical problems. Symptoms of serious anxiety or panic attacks include:

    • Palpitations, sweating, or trembling

    • Shortness of breath

    • Sense of choking

    • Chest pain

    • Nausea

    • Dizziness

    • Numbness or tingling in the limbs

    • Chills or hot flashes

    • Loss of consciousness

These symptoms usually occur suddenly and may last up to ten minutes. Sometimes, the person having a panic attack may even claim to be having a heart attack or feel like death is imminent. Anxiety and panic attacks are scary, but also very treatable. By recognizing the problem and seeking the correct help, people who suffer from anxiety or panic attacks can lead perfectly normal lives.

    Seek a Professional Opinion

People often say they have panic attacks, when in reality they are simply having a natural feeling of anxiety. The only way to accurately diagnose an anxiety or panic disorder is through medical professionals like a general practitioner or psychiatrist. Most mental health diagnoses begin with a physical and mental evaluation of the patient. By combining information received about the patient's physical symptoms with behavioral observations made through an interview, psychiatrists will be able to give an accurate diagnosis for the patient.

The standard manual that most mental health professionals use when deciding on a diagnosis for a patient is the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder. The most common diagnoses for anxiety and panic disorders include:

    • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

    • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

    • Social anxiety disorder

    • Specific phobias

    • Generalized anxiety disorder

    Find an Effective Treatment

Once a diagnosis has been made, the psychiatrist or doctor will assign appropriate treatment for the patient. However, because every individual case is unique, there is no universal cure for an anxiety or panic disorder. Antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and atypical antipsychotic medicines are all different medications doctors may prescribe for patients.

In addition to prescription medicines, a doctor may suggest psychotherapy for a patient. By going through therapy, a patient will learn how to understand and recognize their disorder. They will learn coping strategies and find ways to identify the problems or situations that trigger attacks. It's important to note that treatment for an individual may change courses multiple times, depending on how well the patient responds to the medicine, therapy, or combinations of the two.

Moving on From Anxiety and Panic

Once a patient has gone through treatment, they will discover that they have better control over their anxiety and panic attacks. While they may never be completely free of their disorder, patients will see a decrease in the frequency of attacks. A patient may find better ways to even out the stress in their life, rather than letting it compound into one terrifying moment. At work, this may mean keeping an organized calendar and recommending advance notice for assignments. Learning relaxation and breathing techniques is also vital when it comes to controlling an anxiety or panic disorder.

Also, a patient may find that participating in group therapy improves their condition. Especially for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder and specific phobias, sharing stories and coping strategies can be extremely useful in their treatment. Probably the most important part of group therapy is the sense of camaraderie and recognizing that the individual patient is not alone. Anxiety and panic can be very isolating, so having a group of people who share similar problems and are willing to openly communicate about their struggles can be incredibly beneficial for a patient.

If you suffer from chronic back and neck pain, you know that the debilitating pressure and sharp, stinging pain can affect all aspects of your life. Often times, back and neck pain are difficult for doctors to diagnose, and problems can last weeks, months, and even years. Medications like Advil and Tylenol may offer little to no relief while prescription medications like pain killers or muscle relaxers only soothe the symptoms without fixing the actual problem. Treatments can range from simply correcting your daily posture, to serious options like major back surgery, so it's important first and foremost to see a neurologist or orthopedic doctor. For a permanent fix to your back and neck pain, you'll need to diagnose the specific issue with your spine and then apply the proper treatment.

    Improve Your Daily Habits

While back pain can be caused by serious injuries or diseases, a majority of back pain is the result of improper posture developed by acquiring bad habits. Hunching over a computer desk all day or lifting heavy weight using a bad technique can cause gradual shifts in the vertebrae that, over long periods of time, can develop into chronic pain. Before you seek medical attention, there are some treatments you can try at home or in the office that may relieve your pesky aches and pains.

If you have to sit at a desk all day, try purchasing a mesh lumbar support system for your office chair. Most of these systems are reasonably priced, easy to install, and will dramatically improve your posture throughout your work day. For those in manual labor, a lumbar support belt may be able to relieve some of the pressure being put on your lower back and can improve your performance at work.

Daily stretching can also relieve back pain. Taking a few minutes per day to stretch your back and legs can loosen tight muscles that add pressure to your back. Also, sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees helps the natural curvature of your spine and may result in resolving some pain.

    Seek Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors can offer the best non-invasive treatment for your back and neck pain. At your first visit, a chiropractor will learn about your health history and perform a physical exam of your spine. The chiropractor may also have an x-ray done to make sure there are no obvious breaks, tumors, or lesions causing your back pain. Once the chiropractor has a solid idea about where your pain is located, he or she will adjust your back by laying you down on a padded table and applying controlled, sudden force to the problem area.

After the chiropractor has adjusted your back and neck, you may feel discomfort in the areas that have been adjusted. Your chiropractor may suggest that you combine the physical adjustments with additional treatments, such as:

    • Massage

    • Heat or ice

    • Electrical Stimulation

    • Exercise or rest, depending on the treatment

    Consider Surgical Procedures

If you are suffering from severe back and neck pain that has not responded to at-home treatment or chiropractic care, your doctor may order an MRI or CT scan. These images are more in-depth than an x-ray, and can reveal problems with bones, muscles, tissue, tendons, nerves, ligaments, and blood vessels. If the scan reveals a serious problem, your doctor may suggest surgery. While back surgery certainly sounds like a frightening experience, advances in medical technology have allowed doctors to perform operations that are minimally invasive and have reduced recovery periods.

Endoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses an extremely small incision, allowing doctors to fix spinal problems without cutting through large groups of back muscles or nerves. With more advanced medical tools using laser and robotic technology, surgeons can perform these operations in a minimal amount of time and at a high rate of success. Some spinal procedures commonly performed using endoscopic surgery, include:

    • Foraminotomy

    • Laminotomy

    • Endoscopic discectomy

    • Facet thermal ablation

    • And minimally invasive stabilization

Only your doctor can tell you whether or not your back and neck pain requires endoscopic surgery. However, if you do need endoscopic surgery you can rest assured that your back and neck problems will be fixed, you will have minimal scarring, and you may return to your normal daily activity in as little as one to two weeks.

Minimally invasive or endoscopic surgery is a hot topic in hospitals and doctors' offices around the world. The very name of the procedure makes the surgery sound more attractive to patients who may fear the traumatic effects of traditional surgery. While there are certainly benefits to endoscopic surgery, like any other medical procedure, there are plenty of questions that factor into the decision of whether or not minimally invasive surgery can be successful for a particular patient. Doctors around the world are taking a cautious, but progressive step forward in the types of minimally invasive surgery they can perform, and the results are exciting for the medical field and patients alike.

    What is Endoscopic Surgery?

In endoscopic surgery the surgeon uses an endoscope, a long, flexible tube with a light and a camera attached to its end. During an operation, the surgeon inserts this tube into an incision ranging from one-third to three-quarters of an inch long and uses the camera to project the operation onto a monitor. The surgeon then watches this monitor while they perform the operation, carefully maneuvering their instruments through the tiny incision. In some cases, a surgeon may need to make other small incisions, depending on the location or necessary tools required for the operation.

Started in the late 1980s, endoscopic surgery was mainly used for the removal of gallbladders and for appendectomies. However, throughout the 21st century endoscopic surgery has expanded to perform operations for:

    • Cardiology

    • Neurology

    • Vascular systems

    • Urology

    • Gynecology

    • Respiratory systems

    • And more

Advantages and Disadvantages of Endoscopic Surgery

The biggest advantage to endoscopic surgery over traditional surgery is the smaller incision. Whereas traditional surgeries may require cutting through muscles or even bones, endoscopic surgery allows for the surgeon to maneuver through the body by doing as little damage as possible. Often times, patient recovery is based more so on the healing of the incision than the actual procedure being performed. In minimally invasive surgery, recovery times, scarring, and the risk of infection are all drastically reduced thanks to the smaller incision.

While endoscopic surgery may sound better to patients, it is a little more taxing for the doctors. Endoscopic surgery can take much longer than traditional surgeries due to the fact that surgeons have a more limited range of motion for their instruments. However, through the advancement of laser and robotic technologies, procedure times are rapidly decreasing, and some doctors claim to be able to do operations in an equivalent, if not faster amount of time than traditional surgery.

    How Safe is Endoscopic Surgery?

The safety of an operation largely depends on what operation is being performed. Regardless of whether a patient undergoes traditional or endoscopic surgery, their risk factors will be greater for cardiac operations than for an appendectomy or gallbladder removal. For doctors, every surgery has three main goals:

    • Fix the problem

    • Operate safely

    • Do so with as little trauma as possible

In terms of patient safety and well being, doctors are more willing to sacrifice the third option and increase a patient's recovery time rather than chance not fixing a problem or taking too many risks. The safety of any medical procedure also largely depends on the age, weight, and general health of a patient. For extremely sick or frail patients, traditional surgery may be the safer option because it decreases the amount of time the patient will spend on the operating table. However, for the average person, minimally invasive surgery is a perfectly safe option that creates less scarring, dramatically decreases recovery time, and is equally as successful as traditional surgery.

Quite often, people who want to work from home running their own online business, look for ways to do it quickly.

They also look for ways that involve no work (or very little work).

So they spend their time surfing the internet trying to find an easy way to become an overnight millionaire.

And they buy all the systems the "gurus" advertise that promise instant riches. Once they've bought the products, some of them try the system while others do nothing and go on surfing the web for an even better idea.

Those who try the system have either of the following outcomes:

They make some money quickly but it doesn't last and they soon end up looking for other ways to make money.

Or they try the system but for them it doesn't. That's because we're all different and what works for one person won't necessarily work for everyone. So they end up with nothing.

Either way, these people who tried and failed, or tried and had limited success, or didn't try at all, end up looking online for more quick fixes to try out.

And the cycle will repeat itself.

They'll try and fail, have limited success or not try at all. Eventually, what they all end up with is debt. They spend a ton of money and in the end have nothing to show for it, except a hole in their bank accounts.

So don't try their way unless you want to end up worse off than you are today.

But there are other people who want to work from home running their own online business, and they do it a completely different way.

They don't spend any time at all looking for ways to make money online.

Instead, they set up a website about something they're interested in.

They share their knowledge, not just through their own website, but through social media, blog comments, forums, article marketing, press releases and more.

Soon they're well-known around the internet.

People start to visit their website and buy their products or buy their affiliate products and soon money starts to roll in.

As time goes on they get more ideas of things they can add to their website or ideas for other websites they can set up.

They're soon earning more money than their 9 to 5 job pays. So they quit their job to spend more time working on their ideas and websites.

Before they know it, they're blown away by how much money they're earning and how much they're enjoying their work. And they're working a lot less than when they were working their 9 to 5 job.

And they did it by setting up their online business the right way.

They didn't have to waste their time looking for ways to make money quickly.

Instead they took what knowledge they had and built an ethical online business that keeps growing and expanding year by year.

So tell me; which person would you rather be?

Isn't it time you got serious about setting up your own online business?

And there is no time like right now.

When it comes to writing a book, one of the things that most people ask is "how much money can I make from writing a book?"

But the answer is complicatd because there is no straight-forward amount of money like "You'll earn $10,000 for every book you write."

If that was true I'd write a book a week and be a millionaire in a couple of years.

There are several different factors to consider if you want to earn money as an author and I'm going to outline 7 of them for you right now. And if you can get all 7 of these right then my earlier statement about being a millionaire book author in 2 years could be right.

    1. Your personality. You first have to consider your own personality and what you can write about. So if you're a muscle-bound, insecure male, could you make money writing historical romances? Probably not.

What type of person you are will determine what you can best write about. It also depends on what you're interested in. So if you couldn't care less about women's issues then you'll never be able to write a book about it.

All this doesn't mean you'll never write a good book. Only that you have to write to suit your interests and your personality.

    2. Writing talent. So many people want to be a writer but they simply don't have the talent. Just like not everyone can be an artist, not everyone can be a writer. If the talent isn't there, you'll never make money as a writer. No one wants to buy a badly written book.

There are ebooks you can buy online that tell you that you can write an ebook even if you can't spell and have no writing talent. But what these ebooks are telling you is to get someone else to do the writing for you. To use a ghost writer. Many celebrities do this when they "write" their autobiographies.

    3. Book Cover. They say we should never judge a book by it's cover but we all do it all the time. Even if it's an ebook, your cover must be good.

Your book will be competing against thousands of others and if your cover is boring, no one will pick up your book, or click on your ebook cover.

    4. Availability. To sell more copies of your book, readers need to be able to find it and for it to be available to purchase. So if you're selling an ebook, make sure the "buy now" button is easy to find. You can also sell your ebook in many places online.

If your selling a printed book, make sure it's selling in as many online book stores as possible and keep a good stock of copies. It's often easier to use Print On Demand printing for physical books by using companies such as lulu.com so that your books is printed as it's ordered and it never runs out of stock.

    5. Marketing. You need to let people know that your book or ebook is avialable. you can do most of your online marketing for free by using article marketing, discount promotions, press releases, guest blog posts, email marketing, giving away review copies, and more.

You just have to make sure you let as many people as possible, know about your book. Much of your marketing can be done before you book is published to create demand for when it's ready.

    6. Finding Your Market. Before you can do any marketing you need to make sure that your targeting the right people. This can be done by searching online to see what people are looking for and what sort of people they are.

It helps to have an image in your mind of your ideal reader and then to online to find where they hang out.

    7. How Many Books You Write. If you look at famous authors, none of them only wrote one book. They all wrote lots of books.

They sat and wrote one book after another and, over time, built up a large following of readers. All of them eager to buy their next book. Wouldn't you love to have such a following?

Now take this list of 7 important factors that dermine whether your book will be a flop or a success, and impliment them all.

That's the only way you can make sure that your earnings from writing your book, will be a high as possible.

And then sit down and write your next book, and your next.

    Good Luck.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

In Hollywood, it's a smart director who plays to his strengths. Martin Scorsese spent twenty-five years making some of the best gangster movies that have ever been committed to celluloid. Steven Spielberg's best movies have all been about pitiful, inadequate humans running for their lives away from giant predators. Quentin Tarantino scars the human heart with unthinkable violence and delightful pop culture dialogue.

Todd Phillips makes movies about road trips. In fact, Phillips is responsible for not just the first two installments of "The Hangover," but actually cut his teeth on "Road Trip," which was a lighthearted comedy released in 2000 that revolved around-wait for it-a group of friends on a road trip. The first "Hangover" film was released in 2009 and made a lot of money, in addition to reaping critical praise like sheaves of wheat. So of course, there was a sequel in 2011. This one was far less popular with the critics, but still proved having a bunch of buddies get wasted and go on a spree-in Thailand this time-while formulaic, was at least a winning formula, and the public was hungry for more.

Throughout his career, director Todd Phillips has shown a remarkable gift for taking the pieces he's handed and assembling them into a far greater whole. His knack for spotting the exact joke that will be funny and knowing in whose mouth it will be funniest is the major part of what has held together all his past films, providing a powerful binding agent between the sometimes-prickly personalities a director has to manage on the set of any movie.

This is a major theme of Phillips' entire career, and audiences may fairly expect to be treated to more of the Maestro's magic in "The Hangover Part III." The Wolf Pack is back, as is Mr. Chow and the imperishable Mike Tyson and Heather Graham. In the hands of another director-any other director-this would be a recipe for total failure during the opening weekend as audience members chew through their own legs to escape. In the hands of Todd Phillips, however, this exact setup has worked in the past. Indeed, it has worked before with this very cast and crew. The previous two movies had the same plot, and yet both were highly successful. Mere repetition of the basic ingredients isn't a bad thing, of course. Both chocolate cake and apple pie contain flour, sugar, and eggs, but one is not merely a copy of the other. Nor is a baker who makes first one, then the other, lapsing into self-plagiarism or "totally out of ideas." In the hands of a director who knows where he is and what it is, exactly, the audience has paid to see, the reuse of plot elements, characters and even settings-Las Vegas appears in "The Hangover Part III," as it did in the first-can be made to sing like a tenor.

That's what's possible, and what might even be likely, given Todd Phillips' track record. The real question for fans of what's now a very successful franchise is whether or not "The Hangover Part III" will live up to expectations. Of course, this question can't be answered all in a gulp since essentially two audiences exist for these types of movies and sequels. The first group will be the larger public. Their expectations will be for what's billed as essentially a continuation of the first two films, with the promise it will bring the trilogy to what Todd Phillips called "a fitting end." Beyond that, audiences will probably expect "The Hangover Part III" to make them laugh, eat popcorn, and drive home after in a good mood. Delivering on this should be easy. Indeed, Phillips and his cast should manage to live up to the promises of the trailers and teaser campaigns with ease.

What critics will think, however, is a different story. The winds of professional criticism are fickle, and while they blew very favorably for "The Hangover," they turned quickly and unforgivingly when "The Hangover Part II" was revealed to actually be a sequel. Despite the warm welcome accorded the second film at the box office, critics ranged from generally less than enthusiastic to flat-out negative. What they wrote might have been colored by their expectations going in, but it's possible the winds will switch again, and "The Hangover Part III" will be-not hailed, exactly-but at least appreciated by the professional reviewers as all three films have been and will be appreciated by their audiences.

Selecting a spine specialist can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. There are so many doctors to choose from, but how do you find someone that offers both a comforting bedside manner and unsurpassed expertise when it comes to treating your specific type of spine condition? The trick to choosing the best spine specialist for your needs is prioritizing the qualities that are important to you, then narrowing down your list of potential doctors accordingly. Keep in mind that not all spine specialists are the same in terms of the conditions they treat and the therapies they offer, so be sure to get a detailed understanding of a doctor's specialization before making your decision.

    Where to Start

So how do you even start to compile a list of spine specialists? A great place to start is to ask your primary care physician if he or she has any recommendations. Your physician is likely already familiar with your spine condition and your medical history, so he or she may be able to suggest a spine doctor who is ethical and has experience treating your problem. However, keep in mind that doctors often refer patients to each other as a form of good business practice, so take your physician's recommendations into consideration but do not choose your specialist solely based on this referral.

Another great resource is to ask your family members, friends, and co-workers if they have any recommendations about spine specialists. The benefit of asking those close to you for advice is that they may have personal experience dealing with a particular doctor, and they are likely to be honest and candid with you about their opinions and the treatment they received.

    Do Your Research

There are a variety of factors to consider when choosing a spine specialist, and doing your own research is an important part of the decision making process. Not only can you look on the Internet for information and reviews about the doctors you are considering, but simply calling the doctor's office is a great way to learn pertinent details. You can add or remove names from your list of potential doctors by considering:

    • Location – Decide how far you are willing to travel. Take into consideration how often you will need to visit your spine specialist, and whether any treatments that are administered will require that you have someone else drive you to and from your appointments.

    • Specialization – Make sure the doctor you choose specializes in the specific spine condition that you are suffering from. If a doctor has a great deal of training in treating spinal fractures due to sports injuries, he or she may not be qualified to treat a condition like degenerative spinal stenosis or osteoarthritis.

    • Treatments offered – If you are considering a specific type of treatment for your spine condition, make sure the doctors you are considering not only offer this treatment, but are highly experienced in it. For instance, some doctors specialize in non-surgical spine treatments, whereas others focus on minimally invasive treatments for spine conditions. If you're not sure what types of treatments you're looking for, scheduling consultations with a few doctors may be a good way to get various opinions about treatments that offer you the best chance of relief.

    References and Reviews

Once you have compiled a list of viable candidates, take the time to read reviews of each doctor. These can be found online on various message boards and medical professional ratings websites. You should also check with your state's medical board to see if any complaints have been filed against the doctors you are considering. Getting lists of patient references for each doctor will be another important part of choosing the right spine specialist. When you call a doctor's office, the staff should be willing to give you a list of patient references so that you can find out what types of experiences other patients have had with this particular doctor. And finally, be sure to schedule a consultation with each doctor you are considering before making a final decision. This will give you a sense of the doctor's bedside manner, in addition to his or her willingness to answer your questions and provide you with treatment options that fit your lifestyle.

When you are diagnosed with a specific condition, it can be unnerving and send your mind in a thousand different directions wondering what will happen. Furthermore, searching for a doctor and choosing a procedure, if required, can be difficult. The best way to help put your mind at ease and begin to feel more acquainted with your particular condition is to become better informed about it.

Conduct Research, And Then Some More Research

The first step in finding a doctor or learning more about a specific procedure is to conduct some research of your own. You can never do too much research, but you often may do too little. It is wise to find out all that you can and then sort through the information for yourself. The Internet is a great place to start your search. With a simple Internet search, you can find websites containing a wealth of information regarding the condition you have been diagnosed with, as well as similar conditions. Also, you can research the specifics of procedures in great detail. What you will probably want to spend the majority of your focus on is finding the right doctor for you. You can do this by sifting through online health directories and visiting websites of individual physicians, medical clinics, and surgical centers.

Become Familiar With Vernacular and Jargon

As we all know well, doctors tend to speak in a certain vernacular that often sounds like gibberish to the rest of us. Also, the names of conditions and procedures to treat these conditions can have names that are lengthy and confusing, unless you have a background in Latin or medicine. When you begin to conduct research, seeing these words can be discouraging, even making you believe that you have a nefarious condition that requires an ominous-sounding procedure. In reality, your condition might not be that bad at all, and the procedure you will undergo might not be so bad, either. Either way, it is worth your while to embrace the nomenclature of the medical field for the sole purpose of gaining a better understanding of your situation.

Keep Your Insurance Information Handy Throughout Your Search

A particular concern when seeking healthcare professionals is health insurance, especially in today's world. You can do all the research under the sun and have your heart set on a specific doctor to perform a certain procedure for you, but you may find out that your doctor of choice does not accept your insurance. Also, you may likely discover that many procedures, especially elected procedures, are not covered by your insurance. It will behoove you, and help to prevent from unjustly getting your hopes up, if you have your insurance information on hand when conducting research.

The Benefit Of Friends and Family

Never underestimate the value of word of mouth. Speak to your friends and family members about your condition, if you feel inclined to do so, and ask them if they happen to know anything regarding the specific procedures, physicians, or surgeons you have researched. What you may have previously held in high regard after conducting research may have more accurate light shed on it from a candid individual whose opinion you value. You may just learn something you never knew before and couldn't find anywhere in your prior research. One thing to beware of when seeking advice from friends in family is to not let someone's personal bias and beliefs dictate your decisions. While you can certainly receive valuable information from these people, it is always good to make an informed decision using information from multiple sources.

Whether you are planning a proposal or just want to do something special for the girl in your life, finding the perfect way to present a gift is just as important as the gift its self. Even if you have a small budget, finding a nice piece of jewelry and presenting it in a thoughtful way can leave a lasting impression your lady will remember forever. The truth is, many women would rather get a small sentimental piece of jewelry given to them in a way that is unique and thought out rather than something expensive given in a casual and less thoughtful way. Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of the jewelry you are planning to give to your girlfriend or wife on the next special occasion.

Do not be afraid of tradition. With Valentine's Day coming up, many girls say they are not interested in traditional gifts like flowers and chocolates, but if you show up at their door, or come home from work with these items, they are sure to melt any girl's heart. If you are planning to go this route, skip the bad wrapping job and just tie the velvet or other nice box that the jewelry came in, to the top of the box of chocolates with a bow. You triple gift of flowers, chocolate, and jewelry will create the perfect mood for a romantic evening. Add a personal love letter or poem to the gift for maximum impact.

Another great way to ensure your girlfriend or wife will remember the night you gave her your jewelry gift, is to plan an evening in a place she loves. Having the perfect location to give your lady friend her present, especially if you are proposing, will show that you did not just put thought into buying the gift, but that you wanted the whole event to be truly special. For a simple date night, choose someplace close to home, like the restaurant you went to on your first date or a park she loves to picnic in. For a more elaborate event, make take a weekend trip. Go someplace the two of you love to visit together, or try a new place she has always wanted to go. Your gift will give her something to wear that will always remind her of your special trip.

Some girl's enjoy the comforts of home the most. Surprising your girlfriend or wife with breakfast in bed will get her special day started right. Why wait until evening to give her your gift. Present her with the jewelry on her breakfast tray. That way she can wear it all day. Another way to give jewelry at home is to replace something she wears every day with the new piece of jewelry. When she opens her jewelry box to get out her everyday necklace or ring she will find her new jewelry. This will only work of course if she normally wears the same jewelry every day.

No matter how you choose to present your gift, put some time into planning it and you will be able to create a special moment for your loved one.

    Stars: 2.5 out of 5

When frazzled screenwriter Paolo (Milo Ventimiglia) rents a house in rural Connecticut, he hopes to have some quiet time in order to focus on his work. His life soon changes in such a way that screenwriting is the furthest thing from his mind in "Kiss of the Damned," a lush and beautifully shot vampire flick from Xan Cassavetes.

Paolo is returning some DVDs to a local video store when he meets Djuna (Josephine de la Baume), a pale Frenchwoman as beautiful as she is mysterious. He approaches her and charms her with his banter enough to get Djuna, who lives a semihermitic life watching movies by herself all day, to agree to have dinner with him. After dinner, she invites him back to her sprawling estate, which is stylishly decorated to reflect her taste. She is overcome with feelings for Paolo and tells him to leave, rejecting him forever. He is so smitten that he won't accept her rejection, so he stubbornly keeps asking her out until she finally relents. He is invited back into her home, where Djuna lets him in on a little secret: she is a vampire. By the end of the evening, Paolo is so head-over-heels in love that he convinces her to make him a vampire as well.

The two hole up in the estate, having a honeymoon of sorts, when Djuna's impulsive baby sister Mimi (Roxane Mesquida) arrives, interrupting their happy life. Djuna wrestles with her conscience when it comes to her vampire nature, because she doesn't want to kill humans for blood. Mimi, who is also a vampire, is completely amoral and doesn't blink at the thought of killing any nearby human to quench her thirst. The two begin fighting on a nightly basis when Mimi begins to take a liking to Paolo and tries to tempt Djuna's master, Xenia (Anna Mouglalis), by offering up a virginal teenage girl as a sacrifice. The sisters clash in a way that only two vampires can, setting the stage for a massive battle of wills that will include plenty of bloodshed.

Dozens of vampire movies were made before "Kiss of the Damned," but few have been quite as stylish as this one. It isn't just the designer look of Djuna's gorgeous house that makes this film so beautiful to watch. It is also the way that director Cassavetes films the scenes, with a great eye for detail that never ignores what is going on around the characters. Cassavetes comes from Hollywood royalty as the daughter of actors Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes, so she grew up in the shadow of the movie industry. She must have paid attention all those years, because this film, her feature directorial debut, is delightful.

The casting of de la Baume as the lead was a real stroke of genius on the part of the casting director. From the opening frames, de la Baume establishes an aura of tortured beauty that allows the audience to understand just what Paolo sees in her. Their courtship may have been short, but it is still made very believable by de la Baume's ability to effortlessly draw people to her as Djuna. It also helps that she has a rather electric chemistry with Ventimiglia, who truly looks like a man who is violently in love. He may not be the focus of the film, and his relationship with Djuna is secondary to the one between Djuna and Mimi, but he definitely makes an impact in a strong supporting role.

Many vampire films center on male characters and how they interact and struggle for power. Cassavetes, who also penned the screenplay for the film, focuses instead on two women and their complicated relationship with each other. The family dynamics of vampires aren't often explored on film, which makes the sisterly bond (or lack thereof) between Djuna and Mimi so exciting and refreshing to watch. As Mimi, Mesquida is the perfect foil to the tortured Djuna and her desire to remain as human as possible, even as she lusts for human blood. They are like female versions of Lestat and Louis from Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire," with Djuna being the repentant Louis and Mimi serving as the spoiled vampire brat Lestat. Cassavetes also seems to have been influenced by the 1970s films of French filmmaker Jean Rollin, who explored the sensual, bloodthirsty side of modern vampires. No matter who influenced Cassavetes more, all fans of the vampire genre can do is hope that enough influence is left to make more films like "Kiss of the Damned."

Backlinks are links that are directed to your website, which have become extremely important in the scope of Search Engine Optimization. The number of such links is a good indicator of the popularity of your websites, and search engines such as Google will accredit the webpages with higher quality links as these will be considered as more important than other pages in the search query.

When calculating the relevance of a website to a keyword, search engines will consider the amount of quality inbound links to the site. Thus, it's not only the number of inbound links, but the quality of the link is equally as important. The content of the webpage is considered in order to determine the quality of a link, hence when inbound links come from other websites that have content that is related to your site, these inbound links are considered to have a higher relevance. Likewise, if inbound links on the webpages are found to have unrelated content, they are considered as less relevant to your site.

When beginning to backlink, it's helpful to keep track of the links and also the sites that are linking back to your site. The Domain Stats Tool is very useful for tracking, as it displays the links of a domain in Google, Yahoo and MSN as well as telling you other details about the website. The Builder Tool is also a very beneficial tool as it searches for other webpages that have a related theme to your website, and for those that are likely to add your link to their website. The tool seeks out your particular keywords or phrases on related webpages, which allows you to simplify your linking effort and helps you to create good quality links to your site, whilst also making the whole process much easier and more efficient.

Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built slowly over time. It is easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine's algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine's criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely.

Anchor text is also another way in which you can gain quality links to your site. A quality anchor text is when a link incorporates a keyword into the text of the hyperlink, which is a far better way to utilize a hyperlink as it increases the chance of a visitor clicking on the anchored link. The Anchor Text Analysis Tool is useful in aiding you to find your links and which texts are being used to link to your site. Thus, it's important to become familiar with backlinks, the way in which you can utilize them and how it can really improve your webpage.

When you're trying to find a legitimate way to earn money online, you'll come across many get-rich-quick scams.

These sites are usually pretty easy to spot because their claims are super hyped-up.

They scream messages such as "buy my system and all you have to do is press one button and you'll get rich overnight."

    Sound familiar?

These websites work because they claim to be run by a so-called "guru" who's made it rich online and wants to tell you how you can do it too. With no effort required.

You just have to hand over your money and you'll become a one-click millionaire.

Do you sometimes find yourself believing these hyped-up claims?

You probably WANT to believe it's true.

And the schpeel on the sales page will make it sound as though not only is it fool-proof easy to do but you're a fool not to try it.

And that's how these so-called "gurus" make money.

They sell pie-in-the-sky promises to the b=gullible and the desperate.

These website owners aren't honest. They just want your money and they'll say anything to get it.

I mean, if it was as easy as they say to make lots of money online, wouldn't they be doing it themselves instead of trying to sell their "secret" to millions of other people?

These websites don't usually stay in business long.

Once they've scammed enough people, those people start to complain openly on forums and blogs all over the internet.

Eventually the scam site goes out of business, and the owner moves on to his next great scam.

This is not a way to run an ethical and long-term business.

What you need is an online business that you can run easily and honestly.

That way you'll get people talking about you online for the right reasons which, in turn, will help to increase your profits without any extra work on your part.

What you need to do is set up a website that people enjoy visiting so much that they talk about your site on social media and on forums and on their blogs - and they're saying great things.

Setting up an online business this way will result in you getting thousands of visitors to your site every day.

And word of mouth is not only a free way to market your business, it's the BEST kind of advertising there is. And it's guaranteed to work.

When you have a website getting as many visitors as you can is crucial. And not just any visitors but targeted visitors.

These are people that are looking for a business like yours and when they get to your site, they need to find everything they're looking for.

Work of mouth is great for finding these types of visitors.

And, over time, the number of visitors to your site can double, triple or more.

And that's exactly what you need because the more people who find your site, the more money you can make.

And it all starts with an honest online business.

You're just delivering what people want. So ignore all the get-rich-quick hype.

Build an online business that will last and last.

Effective waste management in food industry is the key to controlling the costs and keeping the ROI high. The process starts with tracking the food waste streams, identifying the areas of improvement and formulating an effective waste management strategy. However, since tracking the food waste streams can be very time consuming, it's often overlooked. Waste management software can be an extremely helpful tool for this process.

Features of a Food Manufacturing Waste Management Software

There are numerous and different types of waste management software available in the market today; however, only some qualify to be relied upon. Good waste management software will provide you accurate information and allow you to be more productive in lesser amount of time. Following is a list of key features of a food manufacturing waste management software and some key considerations you should pay attention to before buying one:

    • Identify and differentiate between different types of waste - Top 5 types of waste in a food manufacturing unit are - Wrap area, Make-up area, Oven area, Mixing Area, and Other.

    • Identify waste by production line - In case the facility has more than 1 production line, this function will allow you to identify which line is being most productive and which is the least.

    • Identify waste by shift - The ability to set different shift timings allows you to identify how much each shift is contributing towards a particular waste type.

    • Identify waste trends over a period of time - The ability to modify date and time parameters to generate different sorts of reports is critical for a thorough and quick analysis of the waste streams and waste lines.

    • Manage Hauling - It must track the waste stream data from manufacturing line to disposal.

    • Levels of access - It must offer different levels of access to the floor operator as well as the management team. This will allow floor operators and managers alike to be proactive about making a conscious effort towards meeting the long term waste reduction goals.

    • Hardware - Most waste management software come with their own specialized hardware. You should ask upfront about the additional costs associated with the hardware, if any.

    • Initial implementation cost - Ideally the initial implementation costs should be a part of the software price.

    Sustainability

Proper tracking and reporting of manufacturing waste help any food processing organization with the easy access to the critical data that they require to identify potential opportunities for reducing manufacturing costs. Manufacturing waste reduction and cost savings are just not possible without first identifying the source of different waste streams and then tracking the same. By analyzing the waste streams data you can easily figure out whether waste streams are employee-based, equipment based, or systematic. Reduced manufacturing costs allow you to produce the same product using lesser resources and thus giving you the advantage over your competition and helping you achieve higher levels of sustainability. Lesser waste would also contribute towards higher employee morale with cleaner and safer working conditions. Start identifying your food processing waste today and save money!

In many parts of the country right now the weather is heating up, spring and summer are upon us, and winter tires are being swapped out for something more suitable on most vehicles. Seasonal changes can affect vehicles in many ways, depending on the climate, and road conditions at hand. Many motorists are aware of the dangers and obstacles that face them during the winter months, whether they live in areas with massive snowfall, or need tires with good grip for handling on slick roads. However, spring and summer driving also present challenges to drivers and new road conditions to be aware of. Choosing the right tires for the season and climate are key to a safe and secure journey, wherever the road may take you.

The biggest difference between different types of seasonal tires is the material. How soft or hard tire rubber is can determine the type of grip your vehicle has on the road. For the best grip, winter tires are made from a much softer rubber, but when the weather warms up, these softer tires can become easily damaged or wear down much faster. Winter tires should never be used in weather warmer than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, snow tires or studded snow tires should typically be removed early each spring, and only put on each fall. In some areas, driving in warmer weather with studded snow tires on can be cause for a citation.

All season tires or summer tires will have a harder, more durable rubber that can handle hot road surfaces. The tread on all season tires is rated for both dry climates and wet roads, and can be used for almost all driving conditions, including mild snow. When driving in a climate with heavy seasonal rainfall, prone to flooding, or torrential down pours, investing in a tire with a deep tread for channeling water away from the tire surface is a safe choice. Depending on the vehicle and performance need, it is also possible to purchase summer tires. Summer tires are designed for high performance vehicles to endure higher temperatures on the road in most moderate climates. Just like winter tires, though, summer tires should not be used year round.

Road conditions are also a factor in seasonal driving. There are different road hazards to be aware of in each season, and should be considered when choosing new tires. Winter months will have snow, icy conditions, and salt to think about. Spring and fall may see an increase in road debris due to seasonal storms, and other hazards such as potholes or water runoff. Summer driving conditions will see an influx in road construction and, for some, travelling. If living or travelling in an area with dirt roads, mountainous terrain, or even long stretches of road construction, you may consider all terrain tires. Specifically designed for off-roading, sport utility vehicles, and light duty trucks, all terrain tires provide added grip on dirt, mud, rocks, and gravel. The specific tread design will have less tread wear, but because of the louder ride, these may not be ideal for every vehicle.

When considering seasonal tires, remember to pay attention to several factors: Climate, weather, road conditions, and terrain. There are just as many tire designs as there are unique driving situations. Finding the best tire for your specific needs is a smart and consumer savvy move that will provide the most comfortable ride and optimal safety for you and your loved ones. Check with your trusted mechanic for your best options today!

Article Title: Health Net Announces July 2013 Rate Increase For Individual Family Plans

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

We received notification of a Health Net of California July 1st rate increase for Individual and Family health plans. We had anticipated no rate increase based on communication from the carrier through the end of 2013 but this puts Health Net in line with both Cross and Shield which increased their rates early in the year. Let's take a look at what to expect and how to navigate the newest health insurance increase to the California market.

What type of increase are we looking at from Health Net?

The actual percentage of increase depends on your age, plan, and area. Members can expect an increase from 9-25% with an average of around 15%. The good news is that the original rates for their most popular plans like the Advantage $3500 or $6500 plans were so much lower than the other competing plans on the market, even with this high percentage increase, it will probably still be tough to beat their rates currently on the market. Keep in mind that most of these plans and rates will go away Jan 1st 2014 (or on your anniversary month) anyway but it's definitely a look at our future in terms of rates if you do not qualify for health subsidies.

What are your options if you are a Health Net member?

If you're an existing member, you can look to downgrade your coverage or compare/contrast other options on the market (Quote Here). Anthem's Clear Protection $3300 plan has been the closest competitor to the Health Net Advantage plans and there are situations (age, area, etc) where it can be more cost beneficial as an option, especially in light of the July rate change. We don't expect (cross fingers) any more rate increases for Cross and Shield through the end of year since they already had theirs Feb and March of this year. To change to a new carrier, we would need to be in good health. To make a pure downgrade within Health Net, we may be able to request this by writing depending on the plans involved.

New applicants and the July Health Net rate increase

If you're looking to purchase a new California health plan from Health Net, the period leading up to July 1st could be an ideal time. If your effective date is prior to July 1st, you will be able to lock in the old rates for a 6 month rate guarantee window which essentially takes us to the Jan 1st 2014 Health Reform change over. We expect many people will change plans/carriers December of 2013 to delay having to move to Exchange plans till Dec 2014 unless they qualify for a California health subsidy based on income levels. Keep in mind that the processing of a new application can take 7-10 business days so you want to decide and apply in advance of the change over so you're not caught with the new higher rates.

Which Health Net plans make the most sense

Currently, the Advantage $3500 and $6500 plans are by far the most popular plans on the market. They are generally the lowest priced plans on the market and still offer good catastrophic health coverage with a few copays, 100% preventative, and generic RX copays. Again, since this is a short-term consideration for at most 12 months, it makes sense to go down the pricing scale which tends to be a good strategy these days anyway considering all the rate increase. You can quote all the available plans including Health Net at www.calhealth.net.

We've already discussed how millions of people will be eligible for billions in health subsidies effective Jan 1st, 2014. A common question then arises from our visitors...which plans will be eligible for these subsidies? Great question because not every plan will be eligible for the subsidy, and in fact, there may only be one plan that is designated as subsidy eligible. Let's find out which plan makes the grade since it can dictate $1000's of dollars you may miss if on the wrong plan.

Quick intro to the new Health Exchange

First, we need to understand that there are two marketplaces and only one will have the subsidy available within. There will be new Health Exchanges available in each State. Some States are operating their own Exchange while others will allow the Federal Exchange to operate for their State. Either way, it's a separate marketplace designed to allow the purchase of health insurance on a subsidized basis for those eligible based on income. There may also be plans available outside this Exchange but they will have the same general benefits and pricing (provider networks may be different) and they will not be eligible for the subsidy. You will be able to quote both options (with subsidies included if eligible) through our Health insurance quoting page starting October 1st, 2013. The net take-away is this, only the Exchange plans will offer one that is eligible for the subsidy. So which plan is that?

The Silver health plan reigns supreme in the Exchange

The ACA law specifically states which plan is eligible for the subsidy and it's the Silver health plan (out of Metallic options: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze). The law also stated that people making under 250% of Federal Poverty Level will be eligible for an additional benefit subsidy (improved health benefits and cost sharing) and different States may go about this in different ways. For example, a State may have different versions of the Silver health plans based on income levels (150-200%, 200-250%, 250-400%) etc. They may also kick up the benefits to the Gold or Platinum but at the same cost of the Silver plan. Either way, our system will automatically show you your premium amount based on both any eligible subsidies and benefit improvements. You will not need to deal with complexity behind the scenes as the best possible rate/plan will be shown to you based on your entered age, area, and income information. In general, the Silver plan is the only plan eligible for the health subsidy and it must be purchased from within an Exchange which you can access directly through our Silver Plan Quote page.

Why the Silver plan is the only plan eligible for health subsidy?

Keep in mind that eligibility is based on income (up to 400% of poverty) so the Silver plans was designated as the middle group between expensive health premiums (Platinum and Gold) and expensive out of pocket medical cost-sharing (think Bronze or Catastrophic plan for young adults). The Silver was deemed as the plan that was most affordable in this contrast between premium and cost-sharing and therefore became the lucky target for subsidies. We expect the overwhelming number of applicant purchasing coverage within the Exchange will go with the Silver for this reason. Otherwise, people (not eligible for the subsidy) will likely look at the Bronze plan out of the Exchange.
