Bottled water delivery service is an important part of the bottled water industry. For homes and offices it is a convenient way to receive cost effective, high quality drinking water on a regular basis.
Studies have shown that use of purified water in the workplace increases productivity and improves the overall health of the workforce.
An essential part of any bottled water delivery service is the actual bottle itself. The bottle is the water vessel that sits atop the water cooler and most bottles are the 5 gallon variety often with the name of the water service provider on the side.
But not all 5 gallon bottles are the same. The world of 5 gallon bottles can be divided into two categories: old style and new style.
Old style bottles are basic bottles used by many of the larger, older bottled water delivery service providers. They tend to be cumbersome and hard to handle and often result in messy and dangerous water spills when they are installed on the water cooler. Some service providers put paper labels on the side which are very unsightly.
New style 5 gallon bottles on the other hand are designed to be ergonomically and user friendly. They have carrying handles that make installation safe and easy and many use spill proof caps that are neat and clean thereby avoiding the messy spills that are found with old style bottles. Spill proof caps also allow bottles to be easily transferred from one cooler to another and are popular in large office environments.
Many of the new style bottles are silk screened with the name and logo of the service provider and are attractive as well as unobtrusive. They work equally well in both home and office environments. Silk screening avoids the shabby Impression that paper labels often show.
One problem that older, larger bottled water delivery companies have is that it is difficult to transition from the old style bottles to the new style bottle. This is because older companies have a significant investment in the installed base of old style bottles and it would be very costly to adopt new style bottles.
Finally, new style bottles cost no more to the consumer than old style bottles but are easier to use, safer and more attractive than old style bottles.
When choosing a bottled water delivery service provide determine whether they use old style or new style bottles. New style will deliver more value to you, the customer.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Most people associate oolong tea with China. And, it's true that China is where oolong tea originated and that most of the oolong tea produced in the world today is produced in China. However, oolong teas from Taiwan, known as Formosa oolong teas are delicious too, and should certainly be part of your regular collection of teas.
Taiwan, in fact, is the second largest producer of oolong teas in the world, and produces some of the finest. In particular, Imperial Formosa oolong tea is a delightful treat. Imperial Formosa oolong tea is a full flavored tea that still manages to remain light.
Imperial Formosa oolong tea is a wonderful blend of flavors and aromas. It has a more complex flavor than many other teas, with a wonderful floral aroma and a melding of flavors like peach, cedar and chestnut. The finish is slightly sweet and the flavor is always mild. Drinking Imperial Formosa oolong tea is a unique experience because each taste of this delicious tea will take you deeper into its combination of tastes and scents.
Imperial Formosa oolong tea is rare in comparison to other teas. Finding it may be a bit difficult and it may be a bit more expensive than other teas you've tried. Oolong teas are more labor intensive to produce, which typically makes them more expensive.
And, Formosa oolong teas are even more expensive than Chinese oolong teas because the costs of labor are higher in Taiwan. However, like fine wine, rare teas can be appreciated on many different taste and aroma levels and are worth the extra expense.
The best tea merchants, both online and in your local area should have access to Imperial Formosa oolong tea. Once you've purchased some you're certain to be anxious to give it a try.
Formosa teas are brewed a bit differently than other teas. First, run hot tap water into your teapot and tea cups to warm them. A traditional Yixing clay teapot is recommended for brewing oolong teas. Then, put fresh cold spring water into your tea kettle and bring it to a boil. Purified water is preferable to tap water for brewing oolong teas because the high mineral content enhances the tea's flavor. Once the water comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and allow the water to cool to about 180°F. Remove the hot tap water from your teapot and cups and add the loose tea leaves to your pot. Use about one rounded teaspoon for each cup of tea.
Next, you'll want to "awaken" the tea leaves. This is done by pouring some hot water over the oolong leaves to rinse them, pouring this water off quickly. Now you can add more water and allow the tea to steep for about one minute. Be careful not to over brew oolong teas, else they become bitter.
Imperial Formosa oolong tea leaves can be infused several times before the leaves need to be discarded. Because of this, the tea is not nearly as expensive as it may seem at first. Each infusion of the tea will cause a different aspect of the subtle flavors to be prominent, allowing you to detect more of the tea's complexities with each cup.
It is not recommended that you add milk, sugar or lemon to oolong tea, but that you taste it for its own delicious flavor.
Imperial Formosa oolong is a great tea to enjoy on its own or with food. Imperial Formosa oolong is a great choice to serve with typical lunch fare, such as sandwiches, soups and salads. It is a wonderful complement to spicy foods at any occasion.
Oolong teas are also delicious served with seafood dishes, particularly those that are very rich, like lobster and scallops. It also goes well with chicken dishes, especially those with cream sauces. And, it is the perfect complement to any duck dish.
In many cultures, cooks take great care to serve a complementary tea with the meals they prepare, much the same way that wine is chosen to complement the meal.
Finally, Imperial Formosa oolong is a wonderful tea to serve with dessert, especially light desserts. Consider it with desserts such as key lime pie, and banana pudding as well as with light cakes like angel food and pound cake.
Once you've discovered the many nuances of oolong tea, you'll likely want to try it iced, as well. Iced oolong tea can be very refreshing, while remaining full of flavor and fruit. When making Imperial Formosa oolong tea for iced tea, allow the tea to cool before adding ice. Adding ice while the tea is still warm will likely dilute the tea too much. Imperial Formosa oolong's mild flavor can be compromised if over diluted.
Many people have not yet tasted Imperial Formosa Oolong tea, but nearly all who have tasted it have found it to be one of the most interesting teas they've ever sampled. With its complex blend of flavors and light texture, it's a tea that will please your palate in many different ways and always leave you wanting more.

It seems in life that most people take for granted the things that are most important to them and drinking water is no exception. It is a fact that no one can survive without clean pure drinking water and it is important to note some critical facts:
1. More than 35,000 people die each day throughout the world from disease caused by impure or lack of drinking water. That equals more than 12,000,000 per year or more than the per year total killed in each of the six years of World War II.
2. The absence of clean drinking water and sanitation is one of the largest causes of death and loss of productivity throughout the world.
3. Three to four of every five children related deaths are directly related to unsanitary or contaminated drinking water.
4. Municipal water supplies in the United States, although regulated by the Environmental protection agency (EPA) still contain a large number of contaminants. Many types of bottled water also contain contaminants.
5. Purified water using a distillation/oxygenation process produces the highest quality drinking water.
It is a fact that because of urban growth and industrial pollution, drinking water is becoming more polluted and water related health hazards are increasing. Heavier amounts of chlorine are being added to kill bacteria but this ruins the fresh water taste.
Polluted or contaminated water is particularly harmful to young children and may cause health problems that do not surface until years later.
Municipal tap water is contaminated as is spring and well water and the fact that these sources of water are regulated does not remove the contamination. Obtain the most recent EPA water quality for your municipality and study it closely.
With the exception of purified bottled water, most bottled water is subject to the same or greater amounts of contamination. Spring water is either re-bottled tap water or particularly susceptible to industrial pollution.
Distilled/oxygenated purified water on the other hand separates pure water from contaminants and flushes the waste down the drain leaving only 100% pure water.
Ask questions and read the labels of municipal or bottled water to determine what is really contained in the water you drink. Then decide how much contamination your body can tolerate over an extended period.
I think after even a moderate amount of research you will agree that purified, distilled water will aid in the longevity of yourself and your family.

Article Title: Business Development For The Private Labeled Bottled Water Industry

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
The private labeled bottled water industry is exciting with tremendous growth opportunities and the ability for suppliers to offer their customers and strategic partners creative, effective advertising solutions.
But like any business, care is required to develop the business in a profitable way and the best way to do this is to establish a focused business development effort that utilizes the tools and techniques established by successful business.
The first step is to define the concept "business development".
Definition:
Business development "includes a number of techniques designed to grow an economic enterprise. Such techniques include, but are not limited to, assessments of marketing opportunities and target markets, intelligence gathering on customers and competitors, generating leads for possible sales, follow up sales activity, formal proposal writing and business model design.
Business development involves evaluating a business and then realizing its full potential, using such tools as marketing, sales, information management and customer service. For a sound company able to withstand competitors, business development never stops but is an ongoing process." (source: Wikipedia)
From this definition it is clear that business development is more than closing the sale and each technique requires detailed planning and follow up.
Using the concepts of business development, our company developed a robust, profitable private label water business but it took considerable initial and continuing effort.
Unique Value Proposition:
Our first challenge was the development of a Unique Value Proposition that answered the question "Why should I buy from you".
After a review of the market and the competition it was determined that private labeled bottled water was a powerful, cost effective, advertising vehicle but because a customer's brand was affected, high product quality and customer service was required. Our Unique Value Proposition was established and stated:
"Element H2O will provide powerful and cost effective advertising and brand promotion for its customers based upon the highest quality consumable private label water, label design and customer service."
Marketing and Target Markets:
Field and internet research was conducted with the basic question being: What are the characteristics of industries are most likely to use our product at a price that is profitable to us. Key characteristics were developed:
• Prospects that provide a quality product or service.
• Industries operating in a competitive market environment where product/service differentiation was critical.
• Prospects that required drinking water for customers, clients or prospects.
• Prospects that maintained a quality brand image.
Initial research indicated that the following industries were initially high potential targets:
• Hospitality (Hotels and Spas)
• Banking
• Mortgage Brokers
• Real Estate
• Ski Resorts
Sales Channels and Market Access:
It was decided that two channels would be used to go to market – direct selling and e-commerce. An e-commerce site was developed that allowed customers to design their own label for the bottles or provide an existing design consistent with the customer brand strategy. Search Engine Marketing and Optimization techniques were used to promote this channel.
A direct sales staff was formed to develop and close sales opportunities and these efforts were supported by a direct mail campaign and networking with local chambers of commerce, local trade associations and lead sharing groups.
The sales effort, after a series of initial false starts and disappointments matured successfully as we reviewed and revised the fine points of our effort.
Product Quality and Customer Service:
Our corporate strategy for all products is to stay at the high end of the market and this was particularly true for private label bottled water where the market is characterized by cutthroat competition and many low quality vendors who are slashing prices and selling on price rather than quality.
We focused on three areas of quality:
• Water purity – we used a steam distillation/ozonation process that guaranteed 99.9% pure water that tasted delicious.
• Label Design Quality – We used an in house professional designer to guarantee label design quality.
• Label Print Quality – We used laminated label stock that was extremely durable and water proof and used digital or flexo printing technology to guarantee quality.
Customer service was particularly important as we established a reputation for delivering on time and correctly. If mistakes occurred, and they did, we adopted a no questions asked guarantee. We established a reputation as a reliable vendor for our customers.
The business became a successful mainstay of our business but only because we developed a planned, business development process that we reviewed constantly and made changes that the market required.

Private label bottled water is a powerful, effective advertising tool and private label bottled water is a cost effective way to promote a consumer brand. It is an important element of any effective consumer advertising effort.
Every business owner and manager knows that advertising is very expensive and it is often hard to determine how effective traditional advertising is.
Print advertising, for example is expensive for even one insertion and in order to provide an effective message about your brand a campaign of many repetitive insertions is often required. Radio and TV advertising also suffer from the same defects but are often even more expensive.
For consumer products and services, however, private label bottled water is a simple but effective advertising tool and creates powerful, word of mouth advertising.
Private label bottled water combines a high quality, custom advertising message with the popularity of bottled drinking water and serves as a consumable, portable bottled water that repeats the brand message over and over as users carry the bottle with them as they travel.
The important thing to remember with private label bottled water is that brand advertising is the goal the private label bottled water must emphasize quality. Quality in label design and production, quality in the form and appearance of the bottle and most importantly quality in the purity and taste of the water are critical elements.
A quality design combined with an attractive bottle and great tasting water will enforce a clear brand message but a low quality label and water will significantly detract from the brand image and message. It is always important to go with quality.
Almost any company that provides a consumer product or service can benefit significantly from private label bottled water. The financial industry, hospitality industry, law and accounting firms, moving companies, real estate agencies and medical clinics are large users of private label bottled water but small companies of many types also benefit from the effectiveness of a bottled water campaign.
There are many bottled water suppliers who produce private label bottled water but most do it as a sideline to another business and quality is low. Only a small number of quality suppliers exist and these high quality suppliers focus on providing bottle water advertising as a core business. As a result these suppliers are reliable and produce a quality product.

Bottled water and bottled water delivery has grown in popularity in the Washington, DC metropolitan area in recent years.
This popularity is due to a number of factors like poor municipal water quality and a growing awareness of the role of good health in modern living. In addition there are a small number of high quality water suppliers who have adjusted their product and service offering to the unique needs of the marketplace.
But marketing has come under attack by municipal water suppliers and other groups who have a vested interest in supplying lower grade municipal water. Claims are made that bottled water is unregulated (not true for bottled water companies that engage in interstate commerce) or that bottled water is often nothing more than repackaged bottled water (partially true for even some large bottled water suppliers). Criticism is also levied against spring water in bottles because of contaminated spring water due to industrial and organic pollution.
These critical statements about the use and misuse of bottled water marketing however are superficial and do not examine the real role of proper bottled water marketing. In essence marketing is nothing more that identifying and segmenting consumers with shared desires and needs and preparing strategies to meet those shared desires. Done right, marketing is more than spin, hype or puffing and true marketing benefits all involved.
Proper marketing of bottled water products must, at a minimum address the following needs in the market place.
• Water quality – Since municipal water is terrible in both level of contaminants and odor and taste, bottled water suppliers must produce contamination free water that tastes good. Purified water based on a distillation/oxygenation process is considered by many experts to be the highest quality best tasting water on the market today. The water is 99.9% pure and, because of the addition of oxygen, it has a fresh, light taste.
• Product features – Customers in the market are interested in product features that make the product safe and easy to use. Features such as spill proof caps, carrying handles and bottles made of safe materials are required to be successful in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia market.
• Quality customer service – Many large suppliers in the market give only lip service to the customer service needs of the customers and respond slowly or not at all to customer requests and complaints. However, there are good companies with a culture of customer satisfaction that meets the needs of the market place.
• Supplier integrity – Some suppliers in the market offer low loss leader pricing coupled with a long term contract and penalties for cancellation. At best this unfair to the consumer and at worst this practice is unethical. Consumers are urged to choose a water supplier with fair prices and without hidden charges.
• Community support- Look for a company that includes giving back to the community as part of its culture. Many companies are interested in selling products only to the community and do not support community events or charities. Some suppliers, however, participate in supporting the Washington and Northern Virginia community events as a matter pf policy.
Washington DC and Northern Virginia represent vibrant, growing communities that are health and family oriented. Pure water is a part of this lifestyle. If you are choosing a water supplier, pick one that markets honestly and fairly and meets your needs.

A classic advertising comment talks about half of the advertising budget is wasted but management can't figure out which half.
This is even more relevant today as advertising costs skyrocket and companies often have to invest in advertising campaigns in order to achieve a return on their investment. This only increases the amount of advertising risk.
For those firms dealing with consumers there is a low cost, high impact form of advertising that is becoming increasingly popular. This is private labeled bottled water where a custom label with a focused and persuasive message is added to a high quality bottle of water creates word of mouth advertising at a low cost per bottle.
As an alternative or cost effective compliment to a larger advertising campaign, the use of private label bottled water advertising is a key to cost effective advertising.
Private labeled bottler water has many advantages and benefits:
Promote your own brand in the growing water advertising market.
Create word of mouth advertising that can distinguish your brand fro the competition .
Bottled Water is the fastest growing beverage today. Carbonated soft drinks are losing market share to more healthy alternative like purified water. Bottled water has surpassed soft drinks in overall consumption. Benefit from this growing demand and add an advertising message.
Advertise upcoming events, Advertise at corporate events , promote coupons, seasonal greetings, grand openings, political campaigns etc... on the label.
The average length of time a bottle of water is in front of a consumer is over three (3) hours. These bottles are very portable and will sit on desks, in cars, on kitchen counters, for hours, days, even weeks advertising your business.
Private label bottled water is great for public relations at charitable and other events.
Private label bottled water is a profitable sale. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for purified water and margins are very high for consumer sales. A private label bottle of water costs in the $.50 - .60 cent range and can be retailed at $2.00 or more.
Purified Bottled water the healthiest water you can buy and if it is oxygenated, it tastes delicious.
The key to effective private label advertising however, is quality in terms of product, message, labels and bottles. High quality effective promotes a brand but low quality will detract from the brand message. Pick a supplier that guarantees quality in every aspect of the private label effort.

Private label bottled water is a highly effective way to promote your brand but to be successful you must have a professionally designed private label. The design needs to be aesthetically pleasing with an effective message that will send a hard hitting brand message..
There are many companies on the web that advertise private label bottled water but most do it as a sideline business and do not have a professional graphic artist on staff. The resulting low quality label can be very disappointing as a low quality message is sent about a high quality brand. It is difficult enough to develop a quality brand and a high quality private label water bottle is a very cost effective way to advertise. But low quality artwork will actually hurt a brand.
Developing a quality label with an effective brand message takes skill and time and care must be taken by the supplier to ensure that the message meets the specifications of the customer. Revisions are often required to ensure that the label is correct and the customer always must have final approval. Otherwise conflicts may occur and disappointment is inevitable.
Following the design phases of the projects, quality label materials and printing is required. The label must be water proof and sturdy enough to withstand frequent handling. Paper labels that are not laminated are poor quality and not commercial; grade. A label that has ink running or is peeling off of the bottles goes a long way toward destroying the quality image that is required to support the brand.
Private label bottled water is often used to create word of mouth advertising in competitive industries. It is cost effective and powerful when prepared properly.
When low quality design and labels are used however, the result can be a problem when trying to promote a brand. Look for a supplier with a reputation for quality and customer service and the results will not disappoint.

A Day of Love
Mother's Day is a special holiday occasion when people show their love, respect, and admiration for mom. Celebrated every year, Mother's Day is an occasion when individuals express their love and respect that they have for their mother. On Mother's Day you can tell your Mom that she will always be important to you all and that you will continue to love her for ever.
Everyone has a mother and everyone's life is affected by the mother child relationship.
It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled "I Love You's". The time to give back to your mother a fraction of the love and care that she showered on you all her life. She is usually regarded with much love and affection, as the benign, loving presence in our childhood. She cares for us and loves us, and her patience is near boundless.
Wondering how to express your love for your beloved and caring Mother? On Mother's Day, we honor our mothers and pay tribute to their devoted work and selfless gift of love. A mother's love inspires children to achieve their full potential and strengthens the character of our country.
Since a child's basic personality is formed in the first year of life, a mother's role cannot be underestimated – she makes us what we are. The commitment and love of mothers reflect the best of America.
How to Appreciate Mother
For most mothers, appreciation takes the form of knowing that they are loved, respected and held in high regard. Gifts are nice but it is the underlying consideration and return of love that is important. And if the gift is long lived, it reminds mother of her special place in the family throughout the year.
In 1872, Julia Ward Howe -- a reformer who wrote the words to the Battle Hymn of the Republic-- suggested the idea of a Mothers Day dedicated to peace. With mothers day coming soon many of us are trying to find that perfect gift or something creative to do for our mom, why not just make it simple like a cup of hot rich tea delivered to mother as part of breakfast in bed.
You can also make this Mothers Day truly special by sending a delicious Mothers Day tea gift. The perfect Mothers Day Gifts are now available online so you can order at your convenience in the comfort of your own home. So now you have no excuse to not wish your mother happy Mothers Day.
Traditional versus Unique Gifts
Traditional gifts like flowers, candy and Mother's Day dinner are nice but short lived.
Finding a gift that is practical yet serves as a reminder throughout the year is a better way of expressing your appreciation. A tea gift set or sampler is thoughtful and long lasting and each cup will bring pleasant memories of the celebration of Mother's Day.
Show mother that you have put thought into her gift by offering her a healthy, enjoyable tea gift that she will remember.
Why Tea?
Tea is consumed by more health-conscious people and in greater quantity than any beverage except water. Tea is made with tea leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant which is an evergreen related to the camellia and indigenous to Assam India and also parts of China and Japan. Tea makes a great gift in the form of tea, iced teas, tea gift boxes, tea gift baskets, tea pots, tea clubs and recipes.
Tea is the perfect way to start and end the day. It provides energy in the morning and serenity at night and reduces stress throughout the day. Lower in caffeine and higher in anti-oxidants than coffee, tea is often part of a healthy, stress free lifestyle.
Tea gifts have always been a bracing experience for everyone. A Mother's Day tea gift can include a little bit of all of Mom's favorites including high quality flavored tea, honey, tea brewers, mugs, tea clubs and other accessories. Give Mom a gift that will help her relax with a perfect Mothers Day tea gift that is now available online.
Shop online for: flavored tea gifts, traditional tea gifts, green tea gifts, herbal tea gifts, decaffeinated tea gifts, decaf tea gifts, caffeine free tea gift, iced tea gifts, loose tea gifts, tea gift boxes, tea gift baskets, tea pots, tea accessories, and America's number one specialty tea flavor, Coconut Pouchong tea.

Numerology is the use of numbers and number combinations in divination. Numerology is often used as part of psychic readings. Each number corresponds to a meaning. They also correspond to the letters of the alphabet. It is though these meanings and correspondences that numerology is interpreted and charts are made for divination.
The numbers used are zero through 10. Any number larger than 10 is broken down by adding the two digits of the number together to get a single digit number. The following explains the generally accepted meanings of the number zero through ten:
0- everything and nothing all at once
1- singular, individual
2- balance, pair
3- communication
4- creation
5- action
6- responsibility
7- the mind, thought
8- power
9- the end
10- begin again
The meanings of the numbers vary often according to each numerologist. However, in general the above meanings are a good representation of the number meanings that are most often used. Sometimes the numbers 11 and 22 are assigned special meaning as prime number that represent the most important and meaningful numbers in numerology.
The numbers also are related to the letters of the alphabet. For this numbers 1 through 26 are used. Usually in numerology reports a persons name is written out then labeled with number for each letter. The numbers are then added together and brought down to a digit between one and ten. For example:
Sue becomes the number 18/20/5
18 becomes 9
20 becomes 2
5 stays as 5
Then it is added: 9+2+5=16
The answer, 16, is reduced to a single digit of 7
This is the basis of translated words into numerology. It is an important part of the process, though and something every numerologist needs to know.
Numerology charts are often done for one person or can be made to compare two people, such as in a relationship. Numerology reports often tell about the inner workings of a person or relationship.
A numerologist has to be able to make the connection between letters and number, as well as be able to add and interpret the meanings behind the results of their work. Numerology reports are often long and take quite a bit of time to finish. Reports are often based upon the name and date of birth of a person. The name and date of birth are broken down into various equations that each mean something different.
A numerologist should only need the basic information, name and date of birth, to complete a natal numerology chart. For more complex charts they may need additional information. Relationship charts require the names of both individuals and their birth dates and may require the date of the anniversary, depending on the reading to be done.
Numerology requires a lot of skill to be able to remember all the corresponding details of numbers and letters. A numerologist also has to learn the different meanings of the numbers and the different formulas for coming up with the results of a reading. It can take some time to learn numerology, but it is not as difficult as it may seem. A good numerologist will be able to explain the process to their clients and be able to answer any questions they may have.
Numerology is a form of divination and can be used on a smaller scale with other forms of divination like tarot readings or rune casting. Numbers have always held special meanings and they can add depth to a tarot reading or rune casting. Many psychic readers associate numbers with their readings, as sometimes they may receive messages in the form of numbers.

Divination is also referred to as fortune telling. Divination uses aspects of the supernatural to predict the future or give insight. There are many different forms of divination. Divination usually involves a ritual or other formal routine. This could involve the lighting of candles, chanting of incantations or burning of incense. Divination is a way to connect with the other side, which could be those who have passed away, spirits or holy beings.
Divination is a highly criticized practice. There are many people who believe that divination cannot be proven as real. They believe that since divination usually involves one person connecting with the other side that the person is simply scamming or faking the connection. Many skeptics believe that divination is merely tapping into the sub-conscious mind and not communicating with the other side at all. Still others believe that there is no connection at all and the person doing the divination is just saying whatever they believe people want to hear. Despite numerous attempts to prove critics wrong, there is still skeptics out there who will never believe in the supernatural abilities of those who practice divination.
Some of the more popular and best known forms of divination include the following:
Astrology- Using the positions of the planets, sun and moon in correspondence with time, date, location and the Zodiac to give insight into one's life and future.
Tarot- The use of a 78 card deck that is laid out into spreads or patterns then read to look into one's situation.
Palmistry- Reading the lines on ones hand to interpret their life path.
Rune Casting- The use of runes that are cast upon the ground or a cloth to tell a persons situation.
Channeling- Connecting with the other side, spirits, and delivering their messages.
Psychic/Intuition- Connecting with a spirit or other celestial being to deliver messages, can be used with other forms of divination.
Divination may be something that a person is born able to do. For others it is something to be learned. It is widely thought that every person has the ability to tap into the supernatural. It just takes time for some to learn how to do it.
Divination has been used for centuries. It is often looked at as evil or as something that is only done by those who do not believe in God. This is not true. Many religious activities often include divination style practices. Anything that brings a connection between a person and a celestial being, be it God, a Saint, an angel, is a form of divination.
Most divination is done in a proper setting. The area used for divination is only used for that purpose. Nothing else is done in that area. Many times there are alters or other things to honor the spirits that may be present. It is done in a manner that shows respect to those beings that are coming to help or send messages. For people that practice divination it is a very serious ritual.
Divination is something that requires great patience and dedication. It may take a person a long time in order to connect to a spirit and when they do it can tae even longer to understand the messages they may be sending. It is a process that should be done with the knowledge of how to do it properly. Many times people expect to see amazing things, like lights flickering, the person performing the divination to fall into a trance or something else spectacular. This is usually not how it happens, though. It is usually a rather peaceful process that happens almost naturally.

Astrology is based upon the celestial bodies and their positions at any given time. Astrology is a science, but it is also a divination tool. Astrology involves knowledge about the astrological plain and good mathematic skills. An astrologer can build a chart based upon any specific time and date in history. They then use this chart to explain to a person the answers to questions or details about their life.
Commonly when a person goes to an astrologer they will get a chart done that is called a birth chart. A birth chart is made using the persons exact time, date and location of their birth. The exact locations of the planets, sun and moon are charted based upon this information. The location of the planets, sun and moon then correspond to different meanings based upon their location.
Everyday use of astrology is shown in horoscopes which re loosely based upon the location of planets for a certain day or time period and how they relate to the signs of the Zodiac, which also play an important role in astrology. It is also common for people to refer to the location of planets to explain bad weather or other occurrences that seem more prevalent, for example the phrase 'Mercury is in retrograde' is used to explain why people seem to be a different mood than usual.
The role of the Zodiac in astrology is rather important. It is not only the location of the planets, sun and moon that is important when interrupting a report, but also what Zodiac sign a planet, the sun or the moon falls in at that time. Each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac carry their own traits, as do each of the planets, the sun and the moon. In astrology the effect of each planet, the sun and the moon changes depending what Zodiac sign it is in.
Astrology can be a difficult art to master. It requires plenty of knowledge and astrologers usually have many books and maps on hand in order to be able to pinpoint locations and such. They learn how to do charts for any time, date and location given. There are almost endless possibilities. An astrologer has to understand the basic layout of the planets, how they move and their location in relation to the earth and the Zodiac. It can take many years for an astrologer to master the skills needed to give an accurate astrological reading.
Astrology is based upon the thought that the way the planets, the sun and the moon are located within the heavens effect people in different locations differently. The natal astrology chart tells what a persons life will be like based upon their birth details. Astrology is a great tool to learn more about yourself. It can also be used by psychic readers to gain more insight into why something may be happening to a person.
When getting an astrology chart or reading it is important for a person to make sure their astrologer knows what they are doing. They should be able to answer any questions the person may have. They should have experience and be able to provide samples of their work and even references. An astrology chart or reading can be very expensive and before spending that amount of money a person needs to be sure they are dealing with a reputable astrologer.
Astrology can be a wonderful way get insight into a persons life. It combines the psychic world with the scientific world. Many people prefer astrology over other forms of divination just because of the complex and scientific nature.

A psychic is an umbrella term used to describe a person with paranormal abilities. Psychic powers have been around since ancient times and have been known to appear in both Egyptian and Viking societies. Psychics can be clairvoyants, palm readers or mediums. Psychics can provide advice on all aspects of a person's life and let them know information about their life's purpose. The guidance that a psychic provides to the client has the ability to change and improve their life if the person chooses to follow their advice.
It is widely believed that psychics gain their power from either a spiritual gift or their body's ability to use their brain more effectively. It is estimated that human beings use only about ten percent of their brain. It is a common theory that psychics have the ability to tap into the other ninety percent of the brain's power and this is the source of their gifts.
There are several natural gifts that psychics can use to help their clients. Some psychics have the ability to communicate with other spiritual realms that we do not have access to. These types of psychics are usually called mediums and they can give you messages from departed loved one. There are people with the ability to receive messages in their minds. A clairsentient feels a message, a clairvoyant sees a special message and a clairaudient hears a message. There are also psychics that are great animal communicators. They can telepathically connect with animals and allow us to know what they are feeling.
Psychics can use several tools to enhance their abilities. Astrology is used to display how the patterns of the planets relate to the events in our lives. An astrology reading is used to let the client know what to expect in their life. Numerology works in a similar way. A person's date of birth is used to indicate the life's path.
Tarot cards are used to answer a client's specific question or give an overview of their current situation. There are two types of cards in a tarot deck: the major and minor arcane. Psychics will most likely focus on the major cards during the reading since they reveal the major aspects of a person's life.
Additional tools include crystals, runes, and pendulums. Psychics know how to use these powerful items to get the answers that you want to know about your life. A psychic can also use their gifts to not only tell about your future, but also make predictions about the upcoming events in the world.
Psychics have amazing powers, but there are certain things that you should not expect from a psychic. A psychic can not predict lottery numbers, horse race winners, or provide you with gambling tips. A psychic that tells you that they can do this is merely a scam artist that wishes to take your money. Also, avoid psychics that ask for an absorbent amount of money without providing any proof of their skills. However, do not expect a psychic to be accurate all of the time. Everybody makes mistakes and a psychic is no different.
When you visit or contact a psychic, they will let you know their specialties and will usually have several services to offer you. They can give you a general reading or you can simply ask the questions that you wish to be answered about your life. You will be amazed at the psychic's intuition and how many details that they can give you about your current situation. It is important to remember that psychics can guide you in the right direction, but it is up to you to follow their guidance.

When it comes to psychics, there is a whole range of tools that can be used. It is worth noting that these tools can be used by anyone, whether or not they have a psychic gift, and so you must be aware of the tools that are being used and whether or not the person using them has the gift. Although these tools can be used by anyone they only produce meaning and real messages to those with psychic gifts.
Tarot Cards
There are many different decks of Tarot Cards that might be used during a reading. There are many different cards in general that a psychic can use to do a reading or to clarify things that have already been read. These are also Rune Cards, Medicine Cards, Karma Cards, or the Phoenix Deck. A talented and gifted psychic can also use a regular deck of playing cards to do a reading. The cards that are used will have symbols that are drawings, paintings, numbers or even words, and these will be interpreted based on a number of different things, including the symbols, the order they appear, and the order the cards are laid out.
Astrology
In Astrology, a psychic will look at the way that the planets and stars are aligned in the different constellations and use these alignments to do a reading for you based upon certain things in your life, namely the astrology during the month, date and even the time at which you were born. These readings can predict the different characteristics you will have as well as the tendencies you will have, and also can predict events that will happen to you.
Numerology
Another tool that the psychic has is that of the reading of numbers. Different letters and numbers will align in different ways to give the psychic an idea of the different kinds of readings he or she can provide you with. Most of the time, the numbers that are used are from the person's name and birthday. Using these numbers, different events can be predicted.
Runes
Runes are relics from ancient times. There are a few types of Runes that are used, which are mainly Nordic and Celtic. Runes are stones or squares that are inscribed with old symbols, and the psychic will use them to do your reading.
I Ching
I Ching is an ancient oracle from China that is used by having three coins thrown six times. This forms what is called a hexagram, which is made up of lines that are solid and broken. There is a meaning that is formed from the hexagram, and then the psychic will look up the meaning in a reference book, and provide a personal message to the client.
Reading Of Palms
Reading of palms, called palmistry, is the specialized skill of reading the lines in a person's hand. A psychic that knows what the lines symbolize and mean can make predictions about our present and future, as well as tell us about our past.
Scrying
The word Scrying means "to reveal". This is a very ancient art of being a clairvoyant, or clear seeing. The psychic will concentrate on a very reflective surface until they see visions in it. This can be a crystal ball, water in a bowl, or a mirror.
Dowsing
The last tool of the psychics is called Dowsing. This is using a forked stick, a pendulum, or even a metal rod to point towards yes or no answers.

If you want to begin meeting your weight loss goals and would like to seek the advice and guidance of a professional weight loss clinic as you embark on a new diet plan, there is certainly no shortage of choices for you to choose from. Weight loss centers of all shapes and sizes are popping up throughout the nation to cater to the needs of those individuals who know they want to shed some pounds, but just aren't sure how to go about doing it. For countless people, creating and sticking to a diet and exercise plan of their own making simply isn't effective. They require mentoring and accountability when it comes to staying faithful to a diet, which is where a weight loss clinic comes in. It is imperative that you find a clinic that fits your unique needs, so make sure to do your research before committing to the services of any one weight loss center.
Decide How Much Weight You Want to Lose
Clarifying your weight loss goals is an important first step in the process of dropping pounds. While some people want to lose 10 or 15 pounds so that their clothes fit better, other people need to lose large amounts of weight if they are in danger of becoming obese or developing chronic health conditions like diabetes or heart disease. Knowing your goals will make it easier for you to narrow down the list of potential weight loss clinics that you are considering. For instance, if you only want to lose those last 10 pounds, going to a clinic that specializes in lap band surgery for people who are morbidly obese may not be a good fit. Simply calling different clinics and asking about their "average patient" may be a good way for you to gauge how much experience they have with patients who share your particular needs.
Explore Each Clinic's Staff & List of Services
Weight loss clinics offer a variety of different services. Some weight loss centers may focus on prescribing fitness regimens to their patients, in which case they may offer an on-site gym or have a staff of personal trainers. Other weight loss clinics will have a more clinical setting, and may resemble a doctor's office. Still others will have a spa-like atmosphere so that patients can feel as if they are being pampered as they get weight loss counseling. Regardless of how the clinic itself looks, it is important that the facility is staffed by experienced professionals. Make sure to ask each clinic you are considering if there is a supervising physician, the name of the physician, how often the doctor is in the office, and if you will meet with the doctor personally. Find out who will be prescribing your weight loss plan and who will be monitoring it. You may also want to ask about the presence of nurses and dieticians on staff. As you conduct this research, try to get a sense of how much guidance you will receive from the staff during your weight loss journey. Many clinics offer personal coaching, meal plan assessments, and one-on-one counseling sessions to help keep you motivated and on track with your diet.
Read Reviews & Testimonials
One of the best ways to ensure that the clinics you are considering are reputable and trustworthy is to read reviews from patients who have used their services. The Internet offers a wide range of platforms for people to share reviews and opinions about weight loss clinics they have tried. Form social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to message boards and community sharing sites, there are many resources for you to choose from. Try to find out if there are any negative reviews about the clinics you are considering, and be sure to check the Better Business Bureau's website to see if the clinic has a high rating. You may also be able to contact the potential clinics and ask them for a list of patient references so that you can speak candidly with other people about how effectively the clinic helped them reach their weight loss goals.

During the last several years, the healthcare industry has boomed, growing twice as fast as the national economy and generating a high demand for qualified medical professionals. With approximately 78 million baby boomers turning age 65 or older by 2030, the need for healthcare will be higher than ever. Therefore, the expansive growth rate of this field can be expected to continue for years into the future.
A career in healthcare can be very lucrative. Before embarking down that path, however, it may be useful to ask yourself some questions about your abilities, needs, and desires to determine whether you are well-matched for this type of employment. For example:
• Do you enjoy working with people? Some healthcare positions, such as nurses, pediatricians, and physical therapists, necessitate a warm and empathetic personality, while others, such as lab technicians, pathologists, and administrators, have little to no contact with patients.
• Do you like science? To prepare for many medical careers, you must be a strong science student and complete demanding, intensive coursework in chemistry, physics, and biology.
• How comfortable are you in a healthcare setting? You will probably spend a significant amount of time with people who are sick, disabled, or dying.
• How do you handle stress? Healthcare often requires dealing with emergencies and life-or-death decisions on a daily basis.
• What type of life/work balance are you looking for? Along with the emergencies come long hours and significant responsibility that can make it difficult to "leave the job at work." Although a medical career can be very rewarding, it also requires a great deal of commitment, endurance, and hard work.
• Are you a team player? Healthcare is a group activity in which a patient's recovery depends not only upon how well each team member performs his or her specific function, but also on how well the team communicates and collaborates as a whole.
• How will you obtain the required education and training? Some medical jobs, such as doctor or high-level nurse, require degrees, certifications, and training, and thus involve a significant investment of both time and money.
• Are you willing to stay current on developments in your field? In order to provide patients with the best care possible, you will need to continue studying and learning throughout your career to stay abreast of new technology, advanced procedures, emerging treatments, and even new diseases.
If you believe your skills, strengths, and personality make you a good fit for a job in healthcare, there are many roles with varying educational and experience requirements to explore. Some of the rising careers you might consider include:
• Healthcare Administrator – Responsible to keep a facility running smoothly and oversee the staff, a healthcare administrator is a leader who typically works behind the scenes. Duties may include keeping abreast of new laws and regulations, handling the financial processes of the clinic, supervising assistants, and reporting to the US Department of Labor.
• Medical Assistant – An administrative option with plenty of opportunities to interact with patients and no formal educational requirements, a career as medical assistant involves performing office tasks on behalf of healthcare practitioners, scheduling appointments, preparing lab tests, and taking patient histories.
• Medical Records and Health Information Technician – By managing and organizing data, reviewing patient records, assessing patient outcomes, and providing patient confidentiality, a medical records and health information technician plays an important, behind-the-scenes role in keeping an office up and running.
• Dental Assistant – Essentially a dentist's "right hand," a dental assistant assists the doctor during procedures, educates patients on proper dental care, schedules appointments, and processes billing and insurance.
• Registered Nurse – A registered nurse provides and coordinates various aspects of patient care, and thus interacts with patients on a daily basis.
• Pharmacy Technician – Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists by filling prescriptions, counting tablets, mixing medications, answering telephones, and accepting payments from customers.
As a healthcare professional, you will have a fast-paced, exciting career that provides you with the opportunity to make an impact and change lives. You can also expect competitive earning potential along with job security and stability over the coming years.

A lifetime of normal wear-and-tear can take a toll on the spine, and many people think back pain is inevitable by the time they reach age 50 or so – even if they haven't subjected their back to overuse, injury, or strain. But strong back, neck, and shoulder muscles can keep pain at bay, and most people can achieve this type of strength simply by performing a short series of uncomplicated back exercises as little as three times a week. This type of workout can build endurance and "train" the muscles that support the spine to do so during any activity, thus providing increased protection and enhanced healing.
There are many exercises that can be performed to prevent back pain and the limited range of motion, reduced mental focus, sense of helplessness, and even depression that often go along with it. The following basic regimen of strength training and stretching is a sample that requires no special equipment and can be performed anywhere, making it easy to fit into a busy schedule and maintain during travel. Regular performance of these exercises will not only result in a stronger core, but also will improve flexibility and reduce the likelihood of back injuries. In fact, research has shown that the only thing that consistently prevents lower back problems is exercise. Before beginning any fitness program, however, it is always advisable to consult with a physician.
Wall Slides
Stand upright with your back against a wall and your feet a shoulder-width apart. Slowly bend your knees, sliding down to a crouch position so that your knees are bent at a 45 degree angle (bending further can strain your knees). Count to five, then slide back up the wall until you are fully upright and your knees are straight. Repeat five times.
Supine Leg Raises
Lie face up on the floor. Lift one leg approximately two feet off the floor, keeping both legs straight. Hold for ten seconds. Relax. Repeat with the opposite leg. Repeat the series five times.
The Bridge
Lie face up on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat. Lift your bottom into the air by tightening your abdominal and gluteal muscles. Keep your back level to form a straight line from your knees to your shoulders. Hold this position while you take three deep breaths. Begin with five repetitions and gradually work up to 30.
Cat Stretch
Position yourself on your hands and knees on the floor. Allow your abdomen to sag toward the floor, then arch your back and pull your abdomen up toward the ceiling. Return to the starting position. Repeat three to five times.
Seated Rotational Stretch
Sit on a stool or armless chair and cross your right leg over your left leg. Brace your left elbow against the outside of your right knee, twist at your waist, and stretch to the right side. Hold for ten seconds. Perform on the opposite side. Repeat three to five times on each side.
Shoulder Blade Squeeze
Sit on a stool or armless chair. Pull your shoulder blades together while keeping your chin tucked in and your chest high. Hold for five seconds, then relax. Repeat three to five times.
It's important to remember that no matter how strong your back, neck, and shoulder muscles are, even a sturdy core cannot protect your spine from the types of injuries that can result from habitually poor posture, using bad form when lifting heavy objects, or the strain of being overweight. Therefore, in addition to performing back exercises, the best things you can do to prevent back pain are to stand up straight, lift with your legs instead of your back, and lose weight if you need to.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Mobile technology has dramatically impacted the way our society functions. Smartphones and tablets have not only transformed the way we communicate, but also have empowered us by placing a wealth of information at our fingertips. These innovations are carrying over to the healthcare industry, where modern advancements in mobile technology are changing the nature of medical treatment and preventive medicine. Patients can now obtain test results and track appointments on their mobile devices, while physicians can access medical records virtually anywhere, make assessments via video chat services, and communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and patients.
The use of mobile technology in healthcare is not limited to the remote access of patient records, however. To illustrate, a patient who suffers from a chronic condition often must receive treatment as part of his or her daily life. Doctors and caregivers can become frustrated with such patients who "forget" to take their medications. Today's ubiquitous mobile devices provide a new means to deliver healthcare reminders and entice a patient to take charge of his or her own well-being in a way that's not only easy and convenient, but also perhaps even fun. And it doesn't end there: these devices have the potential to do much, much more.
mySugr
The mySugr app was developed by a group of diabetics to help them and other diabetics log and keep readily available important data about their health. Patients can record a host of diabetes-related information, including blood sugar level, quantity of insulin, degree of physical activity, amount of carbohydrates consumed, and mood. The app incorporates gaming techniques to provide an overview of the average blood sugar level and display the blood glucose curve graphically, which allow a patient to analyze the results of his or her therapy — almost anytime and anywhere — and adapt it accordingly.
BurnMed
The BurnMed app was inspired by a gas tanker explosion that severely burned many people. Local healthcare facilities were overwhelmed by the influx of patients and, as a result, some did not receive proper treatment upon arrival. This app, which can be used by laypersons and practicing clinicians alike, provides comprehensive training on burn management through which the user draws the burned areas of the body onto a 3D anatomical figure. Using that information, the app calculates the total body surface area burned and the fluid resuscitation requirements, and then summarizes the essential steps of initial burn management.
DoctorMole
The DoctorMole app utilizes the camera feature on a phone or tablet to take photos of skin moles and then assesses them for possible malignancy using an algorithm that incorporates the asymmetry, border, color, diameter, and evolution approach (commonly referred to as the "ABCDE rule of skin cancer"). The developers caution that this app should not be used in clinical practice or by patients for self-assessment; however, it provides an intriguing and exciting glimpse into the potential of augmented reality for future healthcare apps.
vCath
The vCath app is designed to teach neurosurgical trainees the art of positioning and inserting a catheter into a human brain. Procedures are carried out on virtual 3D patients, so there is no risk of harm. This app introduces groundbreaking possibilities for the use of mobile technology as a training tool in the medical field.
Innovative mobile technologies such as these, which continue to evolve, can vastly improve communication, medical record-keeping, and the overall convenience and speed of patient care, and hospitals, medical professionals, and patients are responding with enthusiasm. As smartphones and tablets become more and more powerful and commonplace, along with this trend comes the potential to shape the future of healthcare.

If you are struggling with spinal stenosis symptoms, it may be difficult to know how to manage your discomfort while at work. You may be dealing with the conundrum of wanting to appear professional and capable at work, but on the other hand you are in pain and want to mitigate your symptoms so that you can perform your job to the best of your ability. The important thing to keep in mind is that your health should always be the top priority and it may not be enough to simply treat your spine pain at home. Therefore, it is imperative that you stay in close communication with your doctor regarding treatments that you can try at work. By describing your work environment thoroughly, your doctor can get a sense of any behaviors that may be exacerbating your pain.
Ask Your Doctor for Treatment Recommendations
Do you sit in front of a computer for hours on end? Does your job involve standing behind a cash register all day? It's easy to have poor body mechanics or incorrect posture when you have a profession that requires sitting or standing for long periods of time. Make sure you tell your doctor exactly what your workday involves and when your spinal stenosis pain becomes worse. This will allow him or her to suggest treatments that target these behaviors.
If you sit for long periods of time, your doctor may suggest:
• Using an ergonomically designed chair with lumbar support
• Adjusting your sitting posture
• Wearing a back brace for increased support
• Adjusting your monitor or keyboard to take stress of the spine
If you stand for long periods of time, your doctor may suggest:
• Wearing supportive orthopedic shoes
• Standing on a gel mat to take stress off of the spine
• Wearing a back brace
Easy Tips for Managing Symptoms
There are also ways that you can adapt your normal at-home treatments so that they are more convenient for the workplace. If you usually use hot compresses or ice packs on your back while at home, try to get portable packs that can go directly into the freezer or the microwave of your workplace break room. If your workplace does not have a break room, consider using instant, disposable therapy strips. These look like gauze patches and will simply adhere to your skin and become activated on contact. Also, be sure to keep your pain medication with you at all times, but be aware of any side effects that might accompany analgesics, muscle relaxants, or anti-inflammatory medications. If any of your medications make you too drowsy to properly perform your job, ask your doctor to prescribe something that is more suitable for daytime use. And finally, taking stretch breaks as often as possible will be an important part of your treatment regimen.
Stretches and Exercises for the Workplace
There are a variety of exercises and stretches that you can perform right at your desk so that you don't have to draw too much attention to yourself. For starters, try simply standing up and sitting down several times in a row. This may help to loosen the muscles of your back and take some of the tenseness out of the area affected by spinal stenosis. You can also try standing behind your chair and putting your hands on the back rest. Next, slowly arch your back while extending your head and neck toward the ceiling, then contracting your back in the opposite direction and pulling your chin in toward your chest. You may also want to try sitting up straight in your chair, extending one leg out in front of you, and slowly lifting it. Hold this pose for 10 seconds, then repeat with the opposite leg. This will not only improve your core strength, but it may also give your lower back a nice stretch. If at any point these exercises cause you pain or seem to exacerbate your spinal stenosis symptoms, stop doing them immediately.

If you have made the decision to undergo spine surgery, the next step is deciding where to have this surgery performed. This can be a stressful and overwhelming decision to make, especially if you are preoccupied with your spine condition and the fear of how the surgery will turn out. But you should know that choosing the right surgical facility can actually help mitigate your anxiety. If you know that on the day of surgery you will be going to a comfortable, capable surgical center staffed by helpful personnel and expert surgeons, your mind should rest a bit easier. That's why it is so important to take the time to research different surgery centers so that you can find the one that best fits your needs.
Do You Already Have a Surgeon?
Many patients find a spine surgeon before they find a spine surgery center. This may occur if you visited different surgeons for consultations as you decided if surgery was the right treatment path for you. If you do have a surgeon already, he or she likely has operating room privileges at one or more facilities. On the one hand, this makes it easier to narrow down the list of surgical centers that you are choosing from, but on the other hand you should not assume that any facility where your surgeon has OR privileges is the right facility for you. Be sure to evaluate each surgical center on its own merit and ask your surgeon if you can choose where your surgery is performed. Tell your doctor that you want to know well ahead of time where the surgery will take place so that you can make sure you feel comfortable there. Visit the facility, meet the staff members who will be helping you, and make sure that it seems clean, modern, and welcoming.
What Type of Surgery Will You Be Undergoing?
If you are choosing a surgical center before deciding on a surgeon, the best place to start is to find facilities that cater to your needs. Spine surgery centers generally specialize in different types of conditions or injuries. For instance, if you are suffering from bone spurs that are a result of spinal arthritis, you will not want to go to a surgery center that specializes in spinal fractures caused by traumatic accidents. Similarly, if you have decided to undergo a minimally invasive spine procedure, you will more than likely want an outpatient surgery center where they do not provide overnight hospitalization to the patients. Once you find a surgery center that does perform the type of surgery you require, call the surgery center and ask the following questions:
• When was the surgery center established?
• How many surgeries have been performed at the facility?
• How many instances of my particular type of surgery have been performed?
• How many surgeons are on staff?
• What are the credentials of the surgeon or surgeons that will perform my surgery?
• How many nurses and anesthesiologists are on staff?
• Has the surgery center ever been known by any other name?
Visit the Facility
Once you have narrowed down your list of surgery centers, you should visit each one. While this may seem like a tedious, time-consuming task, you will be grateful on the day of surgery that you took the time to carefully evaluate each and every facility. Call ahead and make an appointment to visit the surgery centers so that a member of the patient services department can give you a tour. If the facility does not have such a department or offer such a service, this should serve as a red flag that they may not have the resources necessary to fully cater to your needs. During your visit, try to get a sense of how attentive and welcoming the staff members are. You will likely have to deal with nurses and medical assistants throughout the surgical process, so be sure that they seem pleasant and friendly. If the surgical center seems disorderly, chaotic, or as if there are not enough staff members to support the number of patients, look elsewhere – the last thing you need during this stressful time is to feel as if your medical needs are not being met.

*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
A pharmacist is a person who has been trained and certified to dispense medicinal drugs to patients. The drugs are prescribed to patients by a doctor, medical assistant, or other clinician, but the pharmacist's job is far more complex than simply filling orders and handing out bottles of pills. A pharmacist must have an in-depth knowledge of medicine, how different drugs interact with each other, and how certain individuals may react differently to various medications. A pharmacist is also in charge of educating the patient about proper dosages, side effects, and other considerations that are important when taking a particular medicine. In many ways, the pharmacist is like a liaison between the doctor and the patient when medication is involved, which means this health professional plays a vital role in the treatment process.
Education Required
A pharmacist is required to have a high school degree or GED, in addition to a degree called a Pharm.D., or Doctor of Pharmacy. Students have the option of embarking on a four-year pharmacy program after they have completed two years of undergraduate study, which means it generally takes about six years to train to be a pharmacist. Be aware that this is only for schools that offer a pre-pharmacy program. Some schools do not offer these programs, in which case students will need to obtain their four-year Bachelor of Science degree with the requisite coursework to apply to a pharmacy program after graduation. Pharmacy students should expect to take courses in:
• Physiology
• Biology
• Anatomy
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Pharmacology
• Medical ethics
To become a pharmacist, it is also necessary to pass the PCAT (Pharmacy College Admission Test) exam prior to entering pharmacy school. Once in school, pharmacy students will need to complete a variety of rotations in both clinical and pharmaceutical settings. At the end of pharmacy school, graduates will need to pass the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination) in order to begin practicing pharmacy in the US Additional exams may be required depending on the state in which you want to practice.
Benefits of Being a Pharmacist
Being a pharmacist has a variety of benefits, which may be why the number of pharmacists is expected to grow over the next few years at a faster rate than other professions. Pharmacists also make good salaries, most likely somewhere between $75,000 and $100,000. Pharmacists will enjoy good job security because people will always need prescriptions filled. The demand for pharmacists is even on the rise because of the growing popularity of retail clinics and chain pharmacies inside of drug stores. It is also projected that because of the rising elderly population, the need for pharmacists will be even greater. And finally, pharmacists also have a nice range of flexibility when it comes to their job. While many will work at the pharmacies located in drug stores and retail clinics, they may also choose to work at hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and may even be able to segue their training into pharmaceutical sales.
Qualities that it Takes to Be a Good Pharmacist
Pharmacists will actually have a great deal of interaction with patients, making it imperative that this person have a friendly, patient personality, in addition to being an expert at measuring and dispensing medications. A pharmacist will also need to stay in close communication with the doctors, nurses, and administrative staff at a multitude of hospitals and doctors' offices, which means he or she must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Most pharmacists will also oversee a staff of individuals at a pharmacy, such as pharmacy techs, so having some basic managerial skills is a must. Having an interest in emerging pharmaceutical technologies like computer systems and automated drug dispensation programs can also be a plus for someone who is looking to break into the ever-growing field of pharmacology.

Selecting a spine specialist can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. There are so many doctors to choose from, but how do you find someone that offers both a comforting bedside manner and unsurpassed expertise when it comes to treating your specific type of spine condition? The trick to choosing the best spine specialist for your needs is prioritizing the qualities that are important to you, then narrowing down your list of potential doctors accordingly. Keep in mind that not all spine specialists are the same in terms of the conditions they treat and the therapies they offer, so be sure to get a detailed understanding of a doctor's specialization before making your decision.
Where to Start
So how do you even start to compile a list of spine specialists? A great place to start is to ask your primary care physician if he or she has any recommendations. Your physician is likely already familiar with your spine condition and your medical history, so he or she may be able to suggest a spine doctor who is ethical and has experience treating your problem. However, keep in mind that doctors often refer patients to each other as a form of good business practice, so take your physician's recommendations into consideration but do not choose your specialist solely based on this referral.
Another great resource is to ask your family members, friends, and co-workers if they have any recommendations about spine specialists. The benefit of asking those close to you for advice is that they may have personal experience dealing with a particular doctor, and they are likely to be honest and candid with you about their opinions and the treatment they received.
Do Your Research
There are a variety of factors to consider when choosing a spine specialist, and doing your own research is an important part of the decision making process. Not only can you look on the Internet for information and reviews about the doctors you are considering, but simply calling the doctor's office is a great way to learn pertinent details. You can add or remove names from your list of potential doctors by considering:
• Location – Decide how far you are willing to travel. Take into consideration how often you will need to visit your spine specialist, and whether any treatments that are administered will require that you have someone else drive you to and from your appointments.
• Specialization – Make sure the doctor you choose specializes in the specific spine condition that you are suffering from. If a doctor has a great deal of training in treating spinal fractures due to sports injuries, he or she may not be qualified to treat a condition like degenerative spinal stenosis or osteoarthritis.
• Treatments offered – If you are considering a specific type of treatment for your spine condition, make sure the doctors you are considering not only offer this treatment, but are highly experienced in it. For instance, some doctors specialize in non-surgical spine treatments, whereas others focus on minimally invasive treatments for spine conditions. If you're not sure what types of treatments you're looking for, scheduling consultations with a few doctors may be a good way to get various opinions about treatments that offer you the best chance of relief.
References and Reviews
Once you have compiled a list of viable candidates, take the time to read reviews of each doctor. These can be found online on various message boards and medical professional ratings websites. You should also check with your state's medical board to see if any complaints have been filed against the doctors you are considering. Getting lists of patient references for each doctor will be another important part of choosing the right spine specialist. When you call a doctor's office, the staff should be willing to give you a list of patient references so that you can find out what types of experiences other patients have had with this particular doctor. And finally, be sure to schedule a consultation with each doctor you are considering before making a final decision. This will give you a sense of the doctor's bedside manner, in addition to his or her willingness to answer your questions and provide you with treatment options that fit your lifestyle.

Choosing a career in healthcare can be a rewarding, fulfilling profession for many individuals. While it involves hard work, diligence, and lots of patience, you can go home at the end of the day knowing that you have assisted someone in need and contributed to improving the health of others. There are a variety of careers for you to choose from when considering a healthcare profession. From becoming a doctor to managing medical coding and insurance claims, there are positions in the healthcare industry for virtually anyone with any type of skill set. If you know that you want to work directly with patients in a clinical setting, but aren't sure that you want the responsibility of being a doctor, becoming a physician assistant may be something for you to consider.
What Is a Physician Assistant?
A physician assistant, or PA, has a great deal of responsibility. While a PA will be under the supervision of a doctor, the PA will likely see patients on his or her own, prescribe medications, and take on a number of the duties and tasks that a doctor would normally perform. A PA will conduct physical exams, order imaging scans like X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, make diagnoses, and counsel patients about treatment options and the prevention of illnesses and injuries. PAs may work in hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, mental health facilities, or a variety of other healthcare institutions. PAs can also become specialized in certain fields of healthcare, such as dermatology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.
Education Required
Education and training are required to become a physician assistant. A PA will generally have a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution, and will then go on to complete a two-year master's physician assistant program. This two-year program will include training in a clinical setting so that the student can get hands-on experience before entering the workplace. Coursework will include subjects like biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology.
Benefits of Being a PA
One of the main advantages of becoming a PA, as opposed to becoming a doctor, is that PAs are able to work closely with patients and perform a number of the duties that doctors perform, but without having to undergo eight years of school. PAs also have the freedom and flexibility to work in a variety of healthcare settings, from a large hospital to a small private practice. Another advantage is that, because PAs work under the surveillance of a supervising physician, malpractice insurance isn't required. In general, PAs have to deal with less administrative rigmarole than both doctors and nurses.
Qualities that Make a Good Physician Assistant
There are a variety of qualities that make someone an ideal candidate to be a physician assistant. The person obviously needs to have a compassionate nature and want to help people who are ill. Since healthcare institutions can often be busy and hectic, the ideal candidate should also be patient and able to work well under stress and pressure. Having critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are pluses, as the PA will often need to make decisions regarding diagnoses and treatments on their own, without the consultation of a physician. PAs should also be committed to the concept of continuing their education throughout their careers. Whether it is getting additional certifications in different specialties or simply learning how they can improve their bedside manner when dealing with patients, the learning process of a healthcare professional is never truly over. The industry is always changing, treatment options change, and no two patients are exactly alike, so having the ability to adapt, learn, and be open minded is imperative.

Physical therapy is a division of healthcare aimed at helping people to improve their mobility, functionality, and quality of life when they are dealing with a disability, injury, or other type of health condition. Physical therapy can focus on a variety of aspects of the body and its behaviors, from helping to increase strength and flexibility to helping someone re-learn how to tie their shoes or hold eating utensils.
Physical Therapy for the Spine
Physical therapy for spinal conditions is one common type of treatment that people may undergo for a variety of reasons. If someone has undergone spine surgery and needs assistance rehabilitating, physical therapy will likely be recommended. Chronic spine conditions like sciatica or spinal stenosis may also respond to physical therapy. In these cases, the physical therapist will likely show patients how to adapt their body mechanics so as to reduce pain. Strengthening the body's core muscles may also be a facet of spinal rehabilitation, since a strong center can help to take stress off of the spine.
Back Exercises for Spine Pain
If a patient is undergoing physical therapy for a chronic spine condition, he or she will likely visit a physical therapist on a regular basis. This could be once each day, once a week, or once every two weeks. Regardless of a patient's physical therapy schedule, however, much of the rehabilitative work will need to be performed by the patient at home. The physical therapist will likely prescribe a variety of exercises for the patient to perform on a daily basis.
Some examples of exercises include:
• Pelvic tilt – Lie on your back with your knees bent. Keep your feet flat on the floor with your arms resting comfortably at your sides. Focus on keeping your back on the floor while slowly tightening your abdominal muscles and raising your pelvis up slightly. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Repeat five times.
• Piriformis stretch – Lie on your back and bend one knee. Cross the other leg over the bent leg, with the ankle resting on the thigh of the bent leg. Lace both hands behind the thigh of the lower leg and gently pull this leg toward your chest. You should feel a gentle stretch in your buttocks and lower back. Repeat on the opposite side.
• Hamstring floor stretch – Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands behind your right thigh and raise your leg slowly off the floor. Straighten the leg gradually until you feel a slight stretch in the back of your leg and try to hold this position for 20-30 seconds. Repeat with the other leg.
• Abdominal contractions – Lie on your back with your knees bent. Your lower back should be flat against the floor and your hands should be resting comfortably just below your rib cage. Slowly tighten your abdominal muscles until you feel your ribs pushing downward into your lower back. Don't forget to breathe regularly as you do this. Repeat 10 times.
Combining Physical Therapy with Other Treatments
It is important to stay in close communication with your physical therapist as you perform rehabilitation exercises at home. If any of the exercises cause you severe pain, stop immediately and notify your physical therapist. You should also be aware of your physical limits as you undergo this type of therapy. While you may experience some degree of discomfort as you stretch and strengthen your body, you should never experience unbearable pain, numbness, or shortness of breath. Don't be afraid to tell your physical therapist if you feel you have reached your physical limit. In the event that back pain is hindering your ability to perform your physical therapy exercises, talk to your doctor about additional treatments such as pain medication, bracing, pain relief injections, or hot/cold compresses.

Article Title: Innovative Technologies in Medicine – Stem Cell Therapy

Advances in medical technology are making it possible for people to get treatment for conditions that were previously either difficult to treat or that required highly invasive surgery. Now, minimally invasive methods of treatment are being developed so that patients who do not have severe or life-threatening health conditions may be able to find relief without the risks and rehabilitation that accompany surgery. One example of a technology that is revolutionizing the field of orthopedics is stem cell therapy, which is a form of regenerative medicine.
What Is Stem Cell Therapy?
Stem cell therapy is a nonsurgical means of joint pain treatment that helps degenerated or damaged tissues like tendons and ligaments to repair themselves, a phenomenon which was previously considered impossible. These tissues are able to heal with the help of stem cells, which are injected directly into the damaged joint or tissue. The stem cells being used in a clinical setting, or the actual treatment of patients, are adult stem cells that are harvested right from the patient's own body. Doctors will usually extract the stem cells from fat tissue or bone marrow.
Stem cells are distinct from any other cell in the body because they are undifferentiated, which means they are not specialized to perform a specific function. This makes them a type of "blank slate" cell that can be adapted to a variety of uses. When these undifferentiated cells are injected into a damaged tissue, they differentiate into the type of cell needed to repair the tissue. In a nutshell, these cells quickly adapt to their new home and their new job by producing growth factors and regenerating tissue.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The stem cell treatment procedure is fairly simple. It can be performed in an outpatient setting, usually right in the doctor's office with the use of a local anesthetic. The stem cells are extracted from the patient with a needle and placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood at a very high speed and separates the stem cells and platelets from the other substances in the blood. Once this concentrated substance is ready, it is injected directly into the damaged tissue where the cells can then start producing new tissue. This procedure usually needs to be performed multiple times over the course of several months. The frequency of the procedure will be at the discretion of the doctor and results will vary among patients. Stem cell therapy may need to be performed in conjunction with other treatments such as platelet rich plasma injections or minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.
Conditions Treated by Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy can be used to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions like joint injuries and osteoarthritis. Conditions of the knee, leg, ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and spine can usually be treated with this type of procedure. Some of the most common conditions that may respond to this type of regenerative medicine include meniscus tears or tendonitis in the knee, sacroiliac joint dysfunction in the spine, partial rotator cuff tears in the shoulder, Achilles tendonitis in the foot, hamstring strains, and partial tendon tears in the elbow.
Are You Considering Stem Cell Therapy? The Next Step
If you are suffering from a joint injury or another type of musculoskeletal condition and are considering stem cell therapy as a treatment option, schedule an appointment with your primary care physician or your orthopedist to discuss your candidacy for the procedure. While stem cell therapy is considered a minimally invasive procedure and an alternative to highly invasive surgery like joint replacement, it should not be an initial form of treatment for joint conditions. Most patients will be able to find relief from their orthopedic conditions with conservative treatments like physical therapy, pain medication, stretching, low-impact exercise, and cortisone injections.
