Remodeling a basement is an excellent way to add livable space to your home, but it can be difficult to decide how to best utilize this newly finished room. Here are a few of the most popular choices for homeowners who have renovated their basements.

If you've been thinking about remodeling your basement, you might want to create some office space where you can get some work done. The basement will likely be one of the quieter parts of your home once you've renovated it, especially if you choose materials that will provide acoustic insulation for the walls of the room. With much of the sound from the outside world and the family upstairs blocked out, you can set up a peaceful workspace using a desk, a chair, appropriate lighting, and any electronic equipment you might need to work from home.

Another popular use for finished basements is a playroom for the kids. Whether your child is just learning to walk or is already in high school, the basement can become a space your kids can use for all their fun and games. For toddlers and grade school-aged children, you can simply move your child's favorite toys into the room, and let the fun commence. You can also set up a TV to let your kid play video games or watch cartoons without disturbing everyone else in the house. Older kids with a musical or artistic streak would likely appreciate a place to practice their hobbies. No matter what type of room you'd like to create for your children, consider that the walls will need to be durable to withstand bumps and dents. You may also want to paint the walls with glossy paint in order to keep the paint from being scraped off with every little scratch.

In contrast, perhaps you want to create a space for yourself where you can relax and unwind after a long day. If you enjoy blowing off steam by working out, a home gym might be the perfect use for your basement. All you have to do is hang a few mirrors, set up your preferred equipment, and enjoy the convenience and privacy of a personal gym. On the other hand, if watching your favorite movies or television shows is your favored way to relax, a home theater might suit you better. You can begin creating a theater by installing lights controlled by dimmer switches, and then you can add a TV, surround sound system, and any other electric accoutrements you need to immerse yourself in your favored media. Also, be sure to bring in some comfortable seating so you and your family can truly enjoy your new favorite room.

Whether you choose one of these options, or you have something else in mind for your basement, be sure that you have a clear-cut idea before you begin remodeling your basement. Your choice could influence the method you use to finish the walls, the paint you choose, the flooring and lighting you install, and more.

As dank storage spaces, basements often lack proper lighting. This might not seem like an issue when you don't spend very much time in the room, but if you're planning to renovate your basement, poor lighting can be a big problem. In addition to keeping you safe by lighting your way, the right fixtures can add some ambiance to your basement and banish the darkness normally associated with rooms that are underground. Of course, choosing your lighting solution will depend upon your planned use for your basement, but here are some basic ideas.

First, you should make the most of any natural light you might have access to, including any aboveground windows. Windows are excellent for letting light into the room, and you can reflect more of it throughout your basement by painting the walls a lighter color.

If you like the look of a window with light streaming through it, but you don't have the benefit of a window, you can create a faux window. Simply frame out an area for a window, trim it, paint the wall behind it white, and install some bright daylight-spectrum bulbs. Finish the window with blinds or sheer curtains so the illusion will be complete.

One of the most common choices for basement lighting fixtures is recessed can lights. If your basement has finished ceilings, you may want to consider cutting holes in the drywall or tiles, and sinking these canisters into them. These lights are easy to install and provide ample lighting for virtually any activity. They're even available in a variety of sizes, so you can choose whether you'd rather light your basement with a few larger recessed lights or many smaller ones. In case you're worried that having hot lights so close to your ceiling will result in a fire, remember that many of the newer recessed lighting fixtures have a mechanism to automatically switch the lights off if they begin to overheat.

Track lighting is also popular because it consists of multiple adjustable lights that hang from a track that runs along the ceiling. Like recessed lighting, track lights provide a wide swath of light, but they can also be moved independently to cast light from a variety of angles.

If you need supplementary lights to better illuminate small areas within the basement, there are always pendant lights. These lights provide focused, brilliant light that might be necessary over pool tables, dining areas, wet bars, home offices, and anywhere else where you really need to see what you're doing. There are many pendant fixtures on the market, so you'll be able to find an appropriate solution for your basement, no matter what style you like.

There are many other types of lighting on the market today, so feel free to explore all of your options. Just remember that it may take a combination of several types of lights to properly illuminate your basement, and you'll need to take the time to visualize how all of your fixtures will work together.

An unfinished basement is often used as nothing more than a glorified storage space, and the floor can often reflect this usage. The floor probably looks like the rest of the basement – utilitarian at best and downright ugly at worst. If you're considering remodeling your basement, you need to select some flooring to truly complete the look, but it may not be as easy a process as you think. Remember that a basement environment presents unique challenges that you'll need to address. Also, be sure to keep in mind how you're planning to use your remodeled basement while you're choosing your flooring. For example, a painted concrete floor might seem like an excellent choice if you're planning to create a trendy lounge for you and your friends. It's not, however, the best flooring selection for a playroom that could soon be populated by young children because they are prone to falling as they play.

If you're looking for a simple solution, and you plan to have a modern style for your remodeled basement, you may just want to leave the concrete as it is. Maybe the floor is beat up and old, but it may add an interesting visual element to the room. Be sure to seal it, though, as concrete's porous nature could let in unwanted moisture. If you like the idea of leaving the concrete floor bare, but you don't like the drab gray color, you can prime the concrete and coat it with floor paint. Not only will the finish hold up to foot traffic, but the paint can be chosen to match your décor.

Most homeowners want some kind of flooring over the concrete, however. You can go a traditional route by installing ceramic or slate tiles that will add a touch of class to practically any basement. Be sure that you take precautions against the winter chill, however, as these materials can get very cold. You can use area rugs to combat the chill or even install a heating system.

Perhaps you'd prefer a traditional material that can be installed in an unconventionally simple manner. If so, carpet tiles might be the right choice for you. They provide all the benefits of carpet, including the warmth and comfort, without the need to lay out a carpet pad.

There are also more modern materials available to you, such as vinyl tiles and laminated wood. The vinyl flooring can be found in a slew of patterns and colors, some of which resemble natural tiles and other materials, but vinyl is much more cost effective and easier to maintain. If you're going for a hardwood look, consider laminated wood. While most types of hardwood flooring shouldn't be installed in basements due to the higher humidity and associated increased risk of warping, laminated wood is considerably sturdier when it comes to holding up in constantly moisture-rich areas such as the basement. Plus, it's extremely easy to install and adds a level of sophistication without the maintenance of hardwood flooring.

If you've long struggled with chronic back pain or other symptoms that stem from an issue in your spinal column, you've undoubtedly spent untold time trying to overcome your discomfort. You've likely read everything you can read, spoken with more specialists than you'd care to remember, and heard more unrequested advice from friends and family than you can stomach any longer. In this case, the natural next step probably seems to be an invasive open spine surgery. However, it is important to realize that there are minimally invasive surgical alternatives to major open spine operations that might be able to deliver the results you need.

In recent years, there have been important advancements in both our understanding of how the spine works and the technology at our disposal to treat problems as they arise. Historically, if you needed to have spine surgery, your only real option was to undergo a massively invasive operation that required the surgeon to cut through the soft tissue that supports the spinal column in order to gain access to the problem area. As a result, recovery from these operations was long and arduous as the major muscles and tendons in the area slowly healed. Now, these types of procedures still have their utility and if the problem is highly advanced or spinal stability is at risk, you still might need to have a major procedure, such as spinal fusion, but this isn't always the case.

An alternative to open spine surgery exists in the field of endoscopic spine surgery. This approach utilizes very small surgical equipment which is inserted into the spinal column through a series of telescoping tubes. The biggest difference here is that these tubes gently push aside the soft tissue, rather than dissecting it. Once in position, the experienced surgeon can make the adjustments to the spinal column that are needed – be it removing the source of nerve compression or even inserting a bone graft – with minimal collateral damage to the rest of the spine.

Furthermore, the risk for post-operative complications is significantly lower with this sort of approach. Instances of hemorrhaging, infection, failed back surgery syndrome, and dramatic scar tissue build-up are shown to be much less. In fact, more often than not, a minimally invasive spine procedure can be completed outside of a hospital setting, in an outpatient environment.

The only way to know what approach is best for your body is to work closely with your doctor to obtain an accurate diagnosis and explore all of your options. Also, never be afraid to ask questions or explore a second or even third opinion. When it comes to your health, you can never be too careful or too diligent. Also, don't immediately discount the role that alternative medicines or nonsurgical treatments can provide in the long-term. Even if this approach doesn't completely address your problem, it can complement your procedure to help increase your spine strength and flexibility over the long haul. The trick is to have an open mind and understand that pain relief may not come over night. However, with the right attitude and proper expectations you can rediscover what its like to go through life pain-free.

When you think of recent developments in technology, you might think of advances that make it easier to connect with family and friends, especially with all the buzz that has surrounded smart phones and social media for years. But these same technological advances are also improving the quality of medical care around the world. Many people don't realize that the virtual global proliferation of cell phones has laid the groundwork for providing better medical care for people living in some of the most remote areas of the world, who would likely not have access to a clinic or hospital otherwise. It's easy to see how being able to send high-resolution images of X-rays and sonograms from the field to knowledgeable doctors elsewhere can speed up the diagnosis and treatment process.

The benefits of these mobile health or "mHealth" advances aren't limited to developing or isolated countries. In fact, this new technology is making it easier to tackle some of the most pressing problems facing the country today. In the United States, the population is quickly aging, with the Baby Boomer generation either nearing or at retirement age. As such, keeping older patients safe and healthy is a growing part of medical care, but it can be very difficult to balance a person's desire for independence and their need for medical observation. Many aging adults find the prospect of living in an assisted care facility or in one of their children's homes to be out of the question, even after they're diagnosed with a condition that makes independent living difficult. That's where the new technology comes in. For example, one of the recent innovations is the implementation of GPS-enabled devices that can track the location of Alzheimer's patients every few minutes and alert the proper authorities should the signal appear outside a designated safe zone.

In addition to helping medical professionals coordinate with one another and communicate with patients, new mHealth technologies allow people to monitor their own health in many ways. With simple handheld gadgets and even through smartphone apps, patients can keep an eye on everything from how they eat and the amount of exercise they get to changes in their gait and abnormalities in their heartbeat. Seeing statistics about their health in real time can help people change and live healthier lives better than a lecture from a doctor can.

Even with all of the benefits these new advances may provide, they are not without their downsides. As with other expansions of technology, implementing new devices may serve to cut down on the face-to-face meetings doctors have with their patients, a reduction which may lead to incorrect diagnoses. Also, when patients are given the ability to constantly monitor their own health, it can lead some down the road to hypochondria as they notice unimportant fluctuations in their heartbeat or slight changes in body temperature. Because it appears as though mobile medicine is the future, we can only hope that all their benefits will outweigh the disadvantages.

A beautiful blue sky and some bright sunlight have served as a siren song for many people looking for exercise during the summer. It can be easy to be lured outdoors to take a jog or play a game of tennis, but you need to be sure you take proper precautions when you decide to head out into the heat.

Before you leave home, prepare for your fun in the sun by choosing attire that will make you less likely to experience heat exhaustion and other adverse affects of the summer heat. For example, stay away from clothing made of dark or heavy materials as it will only serve to absorb heat from the sun and trap the heat your body is producing as you move. Instead, look for thinner, light-colored clothing that will allow your skin to breathe while reflecting sunlight away from your body. If possible, try to cover most parts of your body with this type of light, comfortable clothing; wearing pants or long-sleeved shirts might seem like the last thing you want to do, but it can protect you from sunburns. Once you've chosen the clothes you'll wear, apply sunscreen to all exposed skin, remembering to cover areas like your ears, neck, and face.

In addition to the risk posed to your skin, being out in the sun for an extended period of time can also take a toll on the rest of your body through dehydration. It's common sense to pack a bottle of water or utilize a water fountain to grab a quick sip when you're feeling thirsty, but that is often not enough to replenish all of the water you lose through sweating during your workout or game. To prevent dehydration, start drinking plenty of water the night before and getting two cups of water an hour or two before you begin. That way, you can be sure that your body is fully hydrated before you start. While the amount of water your body requires during exercise depends on a number of factors, aim to drink a cup of water for every 20 minutes you spend in the sun.

At some point, working out or playing in the sun may become too dangerous. For example, while temperatures under 80 degrees are safe for all types of exercising, you need to think before heading outside when the temperatures are in the 80s because it can become much more difficult to regulate your body temperature after long stints in such hot weather. Perhaps you can alter your plans to include activities in a shady area rather than in full sun? Perhaps swimming would be a better choice than running? Once the thermometer reaches the 90-degree mark, try to move your activity indoors if possible, especially if the humidity levels are running high. The higher the humidity, the harder it is for sweat to evaporate and cool your skin, so even when temperatures are running in the 80s, high humidity should be cause for concern.

Simply educating yourself and planning ahead can protect you and your loved ones from the risks involved with summer activities. Have fun and stay safe!

If your back pain has become truly debilitating and no combination of medication, physical therapy, and bracing seem to make any kind of impact, your physician might recommend you for surgery. Back surgery often gets a bad reputation – it seems as though everyone knows of someone who has had unsuccessful surgery – but it might be the only hope for returning you to your healthy self.

When most people think of spine surgery, open-back surgery comes to mind. With the long incision the surgery requires, many patients think twice about electing for it, even with severe back pain that interferes with everyday tasks. If you're one of the many people who are concerned about the risks associated with open-back surgery, consider the benefits a minimally invasive alternative might provide for you.

Whereas open-back surgery requires a large incision for surgeons to operate in, minimally invasive endoscopic surgery relies upon much smaller cuts to reach the areas of the spine that are causing problems. Obviously, this change will reduce the size of your surgical scars once the procedure is over, which will help your skin heal faster, but smaller scars aren't the most important benefit of choosing less invasive surgery. One of the worst downsides to open-back surgery is the need to cut muscles in the back in order to reach the spine. This portion of the surgery can make recovery an extremely painful, arduous process that can take months to complete. While you will almost certainly be sore after any type of spine surgery, a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure can greatly reduce the time it takes you to recover. Unlike traditional back surgery, endoscopic surgery relies on little to no cutting of the muscles – instead, the soft tissue is pushed apart through the insertion of progressively wider tubes into the back. When the final tube, which is as large as a straw, is in place, the surgeon can feed a small camera and any necessary tools through the opening to begin operating on the spine. This careful insertion of the surgical instruments can lead to less soft tissue damage for you to recoup from, possibly decreasing your need for pain medication and reducing the time it takes you to return to work and other normal activities.

Although minimally invasive surgery probably sounds like an excellent alternative to open-back surgery, it isn't without its limitations and complications. First, you need to be sure that the surgery is appropriate for you by checking with your physician or surgeon. When it comes to the surgery itself, you need to understand the risks involved with it, which can include common surgical side effects, including a reaction to the anesthesia, blood clots, problems around the incision area, or pneumonia. Also, it's important to realize that, should the endoscopic approach fail, the surgeon may choose to switch to the traditional open-back surgery technique. If this occurs, your back surgery may no longer be performed on an outpatient basis.

If you think back surgery might be in your future, talk with your doctor about the different surgeries available to you, including minimally invasive treatments.

When experiencing neck or back pain, physical therapy is a common form of treatment recommended by physicians. After back surgery, physical therapy is almost a given. However, we tend to throw physical therapy around as if it is a simplistic notion when, in fact, it can often be complex, and almost assuredly does not mean the same thing from one individual to the next. When it comes down to it, there are really two main categories of physical therapy: passive and active. Below, these types of physical therapies, as well as specific types of active physical therapy, are discussed in greater detail.

    Passive Physical Therapy Efforts

Passive physical therapy is really more therapy than it is physical. The two most common forms of passive physical therapy are thermotherapy and cryotherapy. Thermotherapy is the application of heat to the back, whereas cryotherapy is the application of ice or cold compresses to the back. These two forms of treatment can be used in conjunction with one another, typically in timed intervals in order to numb pain and then dull it away while helping to expand and contract back muscles. Whether you use heat, ice, or both, always heed the advice or recommendation of your physician when conducting passive physical therapy at home.

A Look Into More Active Forms of Physical Therapy

Active physical therapy is the kind of physical therapy that people most often think of. Active physical therapy is designed to increase the mobility of the back, using both stretching and light exercise to do so. A key benefit of active physical therapy is that it helps to strengthen and tone back muscles, which contributes to an overall healthier back.

    Common Exercise - Back Extensions

One of the most common types of exercises that is performed as part of active physical therapy is what is known as a back extension. Back extensions are useful for strengthening the lower back muscles and abdomen. Consequently, strengthening the abdomen helps to take pressure off the back muscles and fosters a healthier spine overall.

This type of exercise involves having your feet or legs anchored near the ground to keep the legs straight. The thighs and pelvic region will rest on a raised, padded surface that is angled to keep in line with the legs. From there, the torso is free to hang over the edge of the pad on which the thighs and pelvis rest, and that is exactly the correct starting position for this particular exercise. The body will be bent at the waist, and one repetition of the exercise is completed by lifting the torso to straighten out the body before bending and the waist to return to the starting position. Further into physical therapy sessions, free weights can be held between the arms and chest to increase the strength of the lower back muscles.

Common Exercise – Seated Cable Rows

Another common form of exercise to strengthen and rehabilitate the back is the seated cable row. Primarily, this form of exercise is used to strengthen the upper back muscles and latissimus dorsi.

Seated cable rows almost always require machinery to be completed. The exercise is begun by setting a weight on the machine that will be lifted by these muscles (when first undergoing physical therapy, you can expect the weight to be especially light). Then, the individual sits on a flat bench with feet pressed against rests. The left and right hand will clutch onto the machine's grips, and then pull toward the body. The pulling motion toward the body lifts the weight via a cable that runs from the grips to the weight, which consequently exercises and strengthens the back muscles.

Are you struggling with chronic back or neck pain that seemingly came out of nowhere? Have several days of at-home treatments failed to deliver the results you require? Are you at your wits' end? If so, it is important that you see a doctor to diagnose the source of your problem. Chronic neck or back pain, as well as various nerve-related symptoms (known collectively as radiculopathy), can often be traced to the presence of a degenerative spine condition in the spinal column that develops with age, which is why a doctor needs to be enlisted to uncover the problem.

As we age, the anatomical elements in our spine naturally begin to deteriorate as a result of years of wear and tear that come from regular use and the burden of supporting the weight of the body. The intervertebral discs that cushion the spine bulge and rupture, the facet joints that connect adjacent vertebrae become arthritic, the spinal canal becomes constricted, and other changes occur. This deterioration is entirely unavoidable and completely normal. However, when the presence of a degenerative spine condition results in the compression of a spinal nerve – such as a nerve root or even the spinal cord itself – a variety of potential symptoms can develop, which may require treatment. Chronic, localized pain, numbness or tingling in the extremities, traveling pain, and diminished reflexes, are all common examples of the symptoms that can arise.

So how do you treat these conditions?

The first thing to understand is that treatment of a degenerative spine condition is all about symptom management. You are not going to reverse the aging process, so the goal of diagnosis and treatment will be to identify what exactly is causing the discomfort and attempt to provide relief. For example, if a bulging disc is compressing a nerve, the goal of treatment will be to reduce strain on the disc, causing the bulge to subside, and the nerve to decompress. Similarly, if a bone spur has compressed a nerve, the only way to treat the condition is to either try and remove pressure on the nerve by strengthening the area around the back or neck, or to physically remove the bone spur with surgery.

In most cases, treatment of chronic neck or back pain begins with a regimen of conservative, nonsurgical techniques. Treatment options vary from patient to patient, but by and large some combination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, low-impact exercise, and hot/cold therapy will be recommended. From there, many individuals turn to complementary or alternative medicines, such as acupuncture or deep tissue massage, although the efficacy of many of these treatments is the subject of some controversy within the medical field.

Failing noninvasive treatments, the prospect of spinal surgery may be considered. There are several different surgical approaches that may be taken, depending on the patient, their overall health, and the condition in question. For some individuals, an open spine surgery, such as spinal fusion, may be the best way to preserve spinal stability. For other people, a less invasive, endoscopic operation may address the issue in an outpatient environment.

To learn more, speak with a spine specialist in your area.

Spondylitis is a term that is often used by medical professionals to refer to a group of conditions that can be traced to the inflammation of the vertebrae in the back or neck. In other words, spondylitis is a type of arthritis that affects the hinge-like joints in the spinal column and can cause a tremendous variety of symptoms to develop if left untreated. Effective management of spondylitis is contingent on working closely with your doctor to identify the cause, severity, and location of the problem. However, before we can delve too deeply into what spondylitis actually is, it is first important to have a rudimentary understanding of basic spinal anatomy.

The spinal column is made from stacked bones, which are known as vertebrae. These bones are absolutely essential in providing the durability and range of motion that we require from our backs and necks, and in order to function effectively, a number of anatomical components must work closely together. One great example of this design is the facet joints in the spine. These joints serve dual purposes. For starters, they must bond adjacent vertebrae together with tremendous strength so that the spine is strong enough to support much of the body's weight. On the other hand, these joints must also be flexible enough so that we can enjoy the subtlety of movement that we demand from our back and neck. These hinge-like structures achieve these roles by having a unique design. In short, adjacent vertebrae are coated in a thin layer of cartilage and encapsulated with a thick lubricating fluid, which allow the bones to articulate against one another comfortably.

Problems occur when this cartilage gradually wears away, causing bone-on-bone contact, which can – in turn – lead to a variety of issues, including spondylitis. Frustratingly, there are a tremendous variety of kinds of arthritis that can affect the body, ranging from rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune design, to osteoarthritis, which is caused by little more than years of normal wear and tear.

In order to determine what the cause of your spondylitis is, it is extremely important to enlist the experience of a doctor, because different causes of vertebral inflammation will warrant different treatment approaches. While there is no known cure for arthritis, there are a number of different potential treatments available to you. The secret is finding the perfect combination of techniques that not only manage your pain and other symptoms, but also alleviate strain on the affected segment of the spine in order to ensure retained (or even improved) flexibility and mobility.

In many ways, spondylitis is a catch-all term that refers to the group of conditions that may have led to the development of vertebral inflammation. To learn the exact culprit of your symptoms, as well as learn how best to manage your discomfort, speak with your doctor or a spine specialist in your area today. With the right treatment approach, you can learn to overcome, or at least effectively manage, your discomfort and enjoy an improved quality of life.

If you suffer from a herniated disc in the neck, finding treatment is undoubtedly at the forefront of your thoughts. Yet before you jump right into a treatment plan you read online or heard about from your neighbor, it is exceedingly important that you visit a doctor to not only diagnose the source, cause, and severity of your problem, but also to ensure that you take the right approach to treatment. While there are all sorts of ways to go about addressing the symptoms that arise from a herniated disc, the wrong method may prove entirely ineffective, or worse yet, exacerbate your discomfort.

A herniated disc refers to a condition where the intervertebral disc that normally cushions and supports adjacent vertebrae develops a tear in the disc wall, allowing the nuclear material to escape the disc and extrude into the spinal canal. While this may sound like a potentially serious problem, in reality, it is extremely common and in some instances isn't even symptomatic. However, when this herniated disc material comes in contact with a nerve root or even the spinal cord, a number of symptoms may develop, ranging from local, chronic pain, to numbness and tingling or discomfort that extends into the extremities. As a result, effective treatment for a herniated disc in the neck is usually contingent on alleviating the nerve compression that arises as a result of the disc rupture (although in some instances the tear itself may cause local pain).

One of the first things to understand about herniated disc treatment is that it varies widely from patient to patient. This condition is quite common in the neck because of the burden placed on the cervical spine by the weight of the skull and the flexibility of the region, and as a result, a herniated disc can ostensibly develop in people of all ages. As a result, treatment for a young athlete, for instance, will be much different than for an elderly patient.

Generally speaking, however, herniated disc treatment is almost always first attempted nonsurgically, by using a prescribed regimen of several weeks or even months of conservative techniques. There are all sorts of potential treatments that can be used in this process in order to manage the patient's pain and also improve or maintain spinal stability. For example, you might be recommended over-the-counter (or prescription) nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to help reduce inflammation in the neck. Many other individuals benefit from specific low-impact exercises or stretching exercises (such as Pilates or yoga) as a means to strengthen the neck and alleviate some of the strain placed on the cervical spine. Yet, it is also extremely important that no exercises are attempted without the approval of a specialist or personal trainer, because it is extremely easy to make matters worse by overdoing it at the gym.

Many individuals also turn to complementary or alternative medicine to assist in their herniated disc treatment. Options such as deep tissue massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy, holistic natural oils, and other similar treatments are quite popular. Finally, in the event that several weeks or months of conservative treatment fail to deliver the results the patient requires, there are several surgical procedures that might be considered, although this is usually a last resort.

HAre you looking to hire reputable home movers for your upcoming relocation and aren't sure where to turn? The very notion of hiring a mover may seem daunting, especially if you have dozens of moving companies in your town to choose from and aren't sure which ones offer the best service. Of course, choosing the right mover takes more effort than simply picking a name off the internet or out of the phone book and seeing how much they charge. Hiring an outstanding moving company deserves a thorough effort on your part, because you don't want to put your belongings in the hands of just any home movers. When it comes time to embark on moving your household belongings, you want to hire a dependable moving company that has many years of experience and ensure that they train their home movers in packing, loading, and transporting even the most fragile and valuable of items.

So, where do you begin your search for a good moving company? You need to first ascertain what qualities you are looking for in home movers. While most customers want many of the same types of things – integrity, dependability, and value, among others – there may be some other aspects that are specifically important to you. Such as, are you trying to find a moving company that will guarantee delivery by a certain time? Then you'll want to focus your search on companies that will promise, in writing, a delivery time. How important is it that your home movers have a climate-controlled storage facility. If so, you will need to ensure that your items will be insured.

To begin your search for reputable home movers, you will need to check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and look for moving companies that have received high BBB ratings. The best possible rating a company can receive from the BBB is an A+, and usually indicates that the company has received few, if any, complaints, quickly resolved any that cropped up, and offers terrific customer service.

You will also want to check out a customer review site such as Angie's List. This popular subscription-based site is filled with reviews by real customers who post their opinions about and experiences with businesses. Better yet, Angie's List prohibits businesses from posting any commentary or voting, keeping this celebrated site a genuinely good place to scope out home movers before hiring them. If you would rather not spend the money on joining Angie's List, there are plenty of free websites where you can look up reviews on the moving companies that you are considering. For example, Google and Yelp both have review forums.

Finally, you will want to check with your family and friends and find out which home movers they have used. Which moving companies have your relatives, coworkers, and neighbors liked the most? Chances are, those in your social circle will have no qualms telling you about any negative experiences that have had, and will equally be glad to share with you which home movers they liked working with best.

If you've been experiencing back pain that is affecting your everyday activities, it's time to see a doctor, but it's always good to have an idea of what's in store before you schedule an appointment. Of course, your treatment will vary depending on your precise diagnosis and other factors, but this article should give you a general idea about some common spinal treatments.

Before they ever begin discussion the possibility of spinal surgery, doctors will often prescribe patients with NSAIDs for daily pain management in order to make regular activities more bearable. They might also recommend that patients wear back braces in order to provide the support their backs may need, especially in the cases of elderly patients and those with weaker abdominal muscles. Because the braces can act in place of strong core muscles, they may help relieve the stress placed on the back throughout the day.

If these rather simple daily changes don't provide the relief you're seeking, you can always look into more drastic changes, including the possibility of using alternative therapies as complementary treatments. Many patients turn to chiropractors for help, but be sure to consult with your physician before starting regular treatments. Chiropractors apply traction to the spine in order to increase the space between vertebrae and reduce the pressure on nerves throughout the spine. Another alternative is acupuncture therapy, which relies on the careful placement of solid, thin, metal needles into the back to help relieve pain. Although the medical community at large might not be convinced of the efficacy of these techniques, many patients swear by them.

If a combination of medication, alternative therapies, and physical therapy doesn't produce a desirable result, it might be time to turn to surgery. Back surgery has been cause for concern among patients over the years, often because the surgeries have a bad reputation. It isn't hard to see why the idea of having your muscles cut open and then having your spine operated on can be unnerving, especially considering that even a surgery that is performed correctly could lead to months of painful recovery. In an effort to make spine surgery quicker, reduce recovery times, and produce better results, surgeons have developed minimally invasive surgery options. Rather than requiring the general anesthesia and painful cutting of back muscles required by open-back surgeries, endoscopic methods require only local anesthesia (and a sedative to ensure the patient is asleep for the surgery) and a small incision. The surgeon then opens the incision gradually by inserting progressively larger tubes into the cut until they have finally worked up to a tube about the width of a straw which can be used to insert all the tools needed to perform surgery. As a result of this more cautious and less invasive approach, recovery times are drastically reduced, and some patients might even experience relief from their symptoms as soon as the surgery is completed, depending on their particular spine problems.

No matter which route you and your doctor choose to take on your way to recovery, be sure to ask questions to fully understand your condition and the treatment being recommended for you.

    *********************** ARTICLE START ***********************

Spine surgery is complicated, no matter how you look at it. A surgeon must be adept and skillful enough to remove deteriorated intervertebral discs, bone spurs, and other anatomical abnormalities, and in some cases, fuse vertebrae. And this must be accomplished without damaging a delicate nerve system: the spinal cord and its nerve roots.

While surgery to treat spine conditions is recommended relatively infrequently, for some patients, a surgical procedure is the last treatment option that could provide some relief from the varying symptoms caused by a neck or back condition. Patients whose physicians recommended surgery once had only one option: open back surgery, a highly invasive operation. Now, thanks to many developments in surgical technology and science, there are minimally invasive spine procedures that can often be performed in lieu of open spine surgery. To fully understand why minimally invasive options are effective alternatives to open back surgery, it can be helpful to first have an understanding of the highly invasive procedure.

    Open Spine Surgery

Open spine surgery involves a surgeon making large incisions in the neck, back, abdomen, or throat. Additionally, the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other soft tissues that support the spine must be dissected or even detached from bone so the surgeon can properly access the affected area of the spine.

Next, depending on a patient's specific condition, the surgeon will remove an intervertebral disc, bone spur, calcified ligament, or another anatomical abnormality from the spine. In some cases, vertebrae may require realignment. Removal and adjustment of spinal components is often required to relieve pressure placed on the spinal cord or its nerve roots. This compression is typically what leads to the radiating pain, numbness, weakness, and tingling in the arms or legs that many patients with spine conditions experience.

If a large amount of spinal anatomy is removed, properly stabilizing the spine may be required. Stabilization is performed via a spinal fusion, or a procedure in which two or more adjacent vertebrae are permanently fused together with bone grafts and hardware, effectively halting movement in that particular motion segment. While fusion performed during open back surgery can provide the stability the spine needs, it can also limit a patient's range of motion and may even contribute to abnormal functioning in another motion segment, which can cause another set of symptoms to affect the patient.

Due to the level of invasiveness required to perform open spine surgeries, there is a higher risk for bleeding, infection, and significant scarring. Additionally, the recovery period is often very difficult and long lasting for patients.

    Minimally Invasive Procedures

Surgeons performing minimally invasive spine procedures generally have the same goals as when performing open spine surgery: to remove deteriorated spinal components, decompress neural structures, and stabilize the spine if necessary. The difference between these two types of operations is the surgical approach. While open spine surgery requires large incisions and soft tissue dissection, minimally invasive procedures only require small incisions, through which a series of dilating tubes is inserted to gently push soft tissue aside. Once a surgeon has reached the affected area of the spine, an endoscope (camera), laser, and tiny surgical instruments are funneled through the tubes and are used to remove anatomical abnormalities, usually just the portion that is compressing the spinal cord or nerve roots versus a spinal component in its entirety. If necessary, spinal fusion, in the form of a minimally invasive spine stabilization procedure, may also be performed.

Minimally invasive procedures are effective alternatives to open spine surgery because spinal soft tissues are left largely undisturbed and the removal of spinal components is kept at a minimum. As a result, there is less risk for blood loss, infection, and scarring. More importantly, a patient's recovery is typically faster and far less arduous than the type of recovery associated with open spine surgery.

Open spine surgery may still be the only option for some patients requiring emergency spine care, and not all patients will be candidates for minimally invasive spine surgery. If your physician has asked you to consider a neck or back surgery, find out whether you're a candidate for a minimally invasive option.

There are many different spine conditions that can affect the neck or back. The majority of them result from the natural degenerative changes that take place in the spine as part of the natural aging process. While an individual with a spine condition may not be aware of its existence because no pain is felt, others may experience different levels of discomfort. For example, an individual with facet joint disease (spinal arthritis) may experience moderate pain, inflammation, and stiffness in the back or neck, while another individual with a herniated disc that's compressing a spinal nerve root could experience severe shooting pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in one or both legs.

Treating these symptoms isn't an exact science, particularly because of the variance in symptoms from one patient to another. However, it's safe to say that the majority of physicians treating patients with spine conditions will first recommend a conservative (nonsurgical) approach.

    Common Conservative Treatments

Conservative treatments are widely regarded throughout the mainstream medical community as effective methods for reducing the discomfort caused by a spine condition. What works for one patient may not work for another, so it's important to keep in mind that a period of trial and error may be necessary for a patient to find just the right combination of therapies.

The following are some of the most common conservative therapies used to treat spine conditions:

    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) – Over-the-counter or prescription NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen help reduce inflammation and relieve mild to moderate pain.

    • Physical therapy – A patient may perform strengthening and stretching exercises to improve core strength and flexibility. Physical therapy may also entail TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), thermotherapy, cryotherapy, and other methods.

    • Thermotherapy – This treatment method involves using heat sources (heating pads, warm water, etc.) to help promote nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood flow to an affected area of the spine, as well as ease muscle tension.

    • Cryotherapy – This method involves using ice or cold compresses on the affected region of the spine to help numb pain and reduce inflammation. Oftentimes, a physician will recommend that cryotherapy and thermotherapy are used alternately.

    • Muscle relaxants – These medications can help relieve muscle tension and spasticity, which can account for a significant amount of a patient's neck and back discomfort.

    • Narcotic pain medication – Opiates such as hydrocodone and codeine are sometimes prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain.

    • Corticosteroid injections – A mix of anesthetic for pain relief and steroids to treat inflammation may be injected into a painful facet joint or directly into the epidural space surrounding the spinal cord.

    • Anti-anxiety medications – In addition to reducing the anxiety that neck and back pain can cause, these medications can also promote muscle relaxation and help block nerve pain.

    Additional Options

Some patients may also choose to explore some treatments that are categorized as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). These types of treatments are not recognized by members of the mainstream medical community as being effective methods of symptom mitigation, but many patients report finding significant relief from a regimen of CAM treatments, whether used in lieu of or in conjunction with conservative methods. Some of the most popular alternative treatments include massage, acupuncture, acupressure, Reiki, aromatherapy, herbal therapy, and others.

    Talk to Your Physician

If you're suffering from neck or back pain and other symptoms caused by a spine condition, it's important to consult your primary care physician before starting any treatment regimen on your own. Without guidance, mixing two medications or performing an exercise improperly could be detrimental to your pain relief efforts or worsen your symptoms. Additionally, if you choose to explore CAM treatments, it will be in your best interest to also consult with a CAM professional.

Since I have publically revealed my mystical and spiritual connection to the 19th and 20th century British occult writer Arthur Edward Waite, I thought I should explain my relationship with the distinguished author.

While past life experiences live within your subconscious, your past life personalities continue on as disembodied spirits in the nonphysical environment. Past lives at their choosing may take an active role in assisting their present incarnation (being us). This is a recognized metaphysical principle amongst modern mystics. At least it's a theory I believe to be true.

A person comes into this life with baggage from their past life. We are not aware of the hardships of our past life because they are buried in our subconscious. They are hidden with good reason. We are not meant to have knowledge of their existence because it would hinder and even thwart the success of our present life. Ultimately, these memories are excluded from our awareness because their presence would impede the unfolding of the Master Plan which the Universal Consciousness has established for humanity. It should be noted that there are rare occasions when our past lives will be revealed to us in order to facilitate a particular outcome in the present life.

Your past life personality is invested in seeing you conquer the challenges you did not overcome in your previous incarnation. Although past lives generally work behind the scenes as invisible helpers, they will occasionally become actively involved in helping you achieve the goals of your pre-life plans. Your pre-life designs may involve working on specific relationships, for example. Or it may be to master a love of material things. Your past life personality is interested in seeing your missions succeed since he or she made the decision to work on them in the first place.

I became aware of AE Waite when I moved from my home state to a distant city. When I was on vacation, driving along a busy interstate, a word entered my mind. I asked my wife to write the word down. Later, we found that the word was the name of the living community we moved in to. The day that we arrived, a curious thing happened. I was watching television when I heard a fizz in the background. I thought nothing of it until my wife asked me if I had opened a second bottle of soda. I insisted I had not. We argued about this for a short time until we realized someone else had done it. The sound reminded me of a Champaign bottle being opened.

After this incident, I attended a local Spiritualist Church. The pastor informed me of the presence of a spirit named "Arthur." I asked my mother and father about this situation. I came away empty handed. I began looking at genealogy sites on the Internet. At one point, I saw an entry for AE Waite. Suddenly, an electrified sensation came over me, and I understood how all of the unusual events of my earlier years fit together. I realized that Arthur Waite was my past life. That doesn't mean he is in my family tree. Nor does it mean that I have any scientific evidence to support this claim. These "knowings" are powerful. A knowing is taken to be fact by the person who had the experience. I define a knowing as an unexplained happening or notion that a reasonable person believes to be true despite the absence of factual support or evidence to the contrary. Tens of thousands of people in this country have experienced a knowing and can relate to what I am saying.

When I returned to the pastor for a private reading, she confirmed my suspicions that the discarnate spirit of Arthur Edward Waite was with me. As time passed, several mediums, a few of whom are prominent in the Spiritualist tradition, verified Arthur's interest in my writings. Mediums from different churches were positive of his attendance at services, meditation circles, and trainings. Arthur would typically comment on my book writing and make suggestions for improvement. The supernatural activity I witnessed during this time was incredible. Arthur regularly made himself known in my home by turning on electronic devices, rapping, and moving objects. There was also a host of other nonhuman entities in the house. I determined some of these nonphysical beings to be what enlightened people politely call negative energies. I am certain that their presence has something to do with Arthur's involvement in the Golden Dawn. It's also conceivable that they are a gift from Aleister Crowley, who sent me his mental salutations years prior to my discovery of Arthur Waite.

In the past I have asked myself if the information I believe to be coming from Arthur, is not actually being produced by my subconscious. This is unlikely since it has been confirmed by what I deem to be reliable sources that Arthur is in my environment, and interested in my books. What I say, is what Arthur would certainly state if his spirit were able to do so.

There are many things I know that Arthur feels he could have done differently and better in his life. However, he truly enjoyed his career as an occult researcher and writer. To be fair, his passion was with the Spiritualist movement of Andrew Jackson Davis, and esoteric teachings of Rosicrucian orders to which he belonged. Arthur leaned more in the direction of mysticism than the occult; although there is some overlap between the two. I know this in part from reading articles about him.

I intuitively know that there were things Arthur regrets and situations he wishes he could take back or do over. I should say those are the impressions I get from that life. Arthur as a spirit is probably able to act as an outside observer to see how the poor decisions he made created the situations he experienced. Being in that position has less of an effect on you than actually going through it as a human. I am not sure of this though since I have not been granted access to relive these memories. I have inherited his unfinished business. Those things that frustrated him have now become my challenges. Arthur was not always well spoken of by his peers. He is partly responsible for this because of his sarcastic nature. In this century, he is remembered for his critical and demeaning attitude. This is one area Arthur has decided he would like me to focus on. I feel positive about this challenge.

Of course, I am an independent personality from Arthur. We are connected and yet distinct from each other. This is a new life with its own circumstances. This is not the turn of the twentieth century in the United Kingdom. I do not write like Arthur for that reason. In fact, I have not read any of his books due to his writing style. I will not pretend to know Arthur's private history or his personal mannerisms. That information has not been made known to me except through feelings and impressions. Again, he has only spoken to me through mediums regarding my writing. I do believe that what comes out of my mouth is what Arthur himself would express. That theory makes sense in the context of reincarnation.

The material describing the Body Alive Principle in Illusion of the Body could have been made into a much smaller volume. I added quite a bit of information to support the theory. The First Truth was written differently and covers a wide range of mystical concepts from the nature of reality, the reality of the inner self, the meaning of life, and a metaphysical examination of psychotic illness and psychotropic drugs. These are traditional subjects of concern in mysticism. The material for The First Truth confirms many of the theories other mystics have proposed. Arthur considers old information to be new information if the reader has never heard it before. It also introduces certain theories that may not have been suggested by other writers of metaphysics. For instance, in mysticism and other esoteric philosophies it is accepted that thoughts are deemed to be "things," they are mental constructs of mind with their own consciousness, vitality, and degree of intellect. If this is true, then it is safe to say that the imagery people with schizophrenia see are real on some level. This must also be true of the visions seen by users of hallucinogenic drugs. While this notion may seem absurd to the practical and reasoning mind, the mystic gives fair consideration to these matters. These are some of possibilities put forth in The First Truth.

With each new incarnation come new missions and challenges. An old spirit will not repeat his or her previous life as such a practice is not favorable to one's spiritual evolution. A spirit will embark on new adventures or attempt to improve on old problems by approaching them in fresh new ways. Lingering on old themes retards one's spiritual development. The law of expansion which is the key to the meaning of life compels us to expand our knowledge by engaging in new experiences. For this reason, Arthur Waite has chosen to withdraw his attention from the Tarot cards which made him famous. The Tarot was something that he accomplished in his life time. Having done that, he (being me) has new tests and trials to face. That does not diminish the importance of the Tarot deck. They serve a purpose in the world, as a means for some talented psychics to communicate with the spirit world. Rest assured that Arthur will not belittle his own creation or ask that it be abandoned by its users.

I know that Arthur Waite has a new message for the world. It is also my message since I am a reflection of him. There is a change of great magnitude upon us. This profound prophecy is accepted and communicated by mystics, psychics, spiritualists, shamans, light workers, energy healers, mediums, sages, clairvoyants, sensitives, channels, and what have you. This paradigm shift or what I like to refer to as the Great Awakening has been foretold by many of the celebrated channeled entities of modern times. This transformation promises a spiritual awakening in the Mass Consciousness. Hence I have dubbed this event the Great Awakening. This divine decree will usher in a new era in our understanding of the nature of reality. In turn, it will lead to a more peaceful existence in our relationships with each other, and the universe. When will this happen? Many people have made false predictions about its arrival. The spirit world does not operate with clocks and calendars. It adheres to the law of generation, which states that things happen at the appropriate time. However, I can clearly see signs of this impending shift in our midst.

My belief is that one must face the challenges of life to initiate personal growth and development. The human spirit is required to test itself. Therefore, a person will allow stress into his or her life to effect this process. Stress gives us a way to grow as spiritual beings. In light of this theory, I feel there is possibility humanity may face considerable trials before being awakened to the truth. I believe that we learn incredibly valuable lessons through our most disturbing experiences. That's if we are resilient enough to bounce back from them. If life were always pleasant for us, we would learn nothing. So if, we expect to make such a monumental achievement on a global scale, we must also be prepared to exert ourselves mentally.

The message our friend Mr. Waite and I wish to send to those already awakened, no matter who you are, or what your ideology or faith may be, the time to prepare for the Great Awakening is now. We who have attained knowledge of higher things have a responsibility to lead others to the path of illumination. We are emissaries of the Infinite Intelligence. It is our duty to assist others in their own awakening. This means encouraging others to open their minds and consider unconventional ideas. It does not mean that we should go on a crusade to save people, or compel them accept our beliefs. Being an agent of change for the Infinite One requires compassion and good judgment. Leading captives of material reality to the light of truth may be the most worthy cause one can volunteer to support.

Any business that is involved in the production of items from raw materials needs to have a robust internal distribution system in place that can allow for efficient movement of things that are required from storage to the production area in the factory floor. The larger your operation, the more efficient it can be, and the lower that the costs of manufacture can be forced, however, this focus on large scale production means that specialist bulk materials handling equipment must be put into place in order to be able to properly handle the volume of supplies that are needed in the factory.

The central aim of bulk materials handling equipment is to ensure that more items can be carried from storage to the factory at a lower cost without having a significant impact on safety. Fork lift trucks are often the basis for many of the innovative products that are available to handle raw materials, and there are a number of different adaptations that can be fitted to the forks in order to make moving easier.

One of the most popular items of bulk materials handling equipment currently available is the standard fork mounted hopper that can be attached to the standard forks of a regular truck. Ideally, the hopper can be loaded with items for disposal by staff, or filled with raw materials in the warehouse before being carried on the forklift.

There are a number of different hoppers available from many companies that will enable you to carry goods around from one place to another. These hoppers have been designed to carry different items safely, and are robust enough to ensure that they will not be damaged during normal use. There are self tipping hoppers available as well as units that have been specially designed to carry dust, liquid and powder type items without spilling them around the workplace. Hoppers can be used to carry large amounts of material safely.

A wide variety of different fork lift extensions are available that allow your standard forklift to be adapted to carry specific items such as drums and bags. They can improve the way in which your forklift is utilized and ensure that its role is maximized wherever possible. With greater flexibility, it will be able to fulfill a greater number of tasks in the warehouse, and give greater return on the investment that you have made in it.

For easier transport, larger items are palletized during transportation, and in order to move them around the warehouse, specific bulk materials handling equipment is required. Using a forklift to move items through the factory is not always a good idea, as it can be dangerous. It is more sensible to use a pallet jack. These are easier to maneuver in use, and much lower in cost than a forklift. These jacks can be handled by a single person, and used to lift full pallets where required.

Other bulk materials handling equipment that is needed for the modern factory includes the whole range of cranes such as gantry cranes and jib cranes that are needed to lift and manipulate the heaviest items into place so that they can be worked with effectively.

Putting in place a robust system to transport items around your warehouse, factory, or industrial facility requires a range of different material handling solutions to be considered and put into place. This whole process of developing the most efficient internal systems possible will increase your competitiveness in the long run, to ensure greater profits, lower costs, and a happier and more productive workforce.

In ensuring that items are in the right place at the right time, you can install a "right on time" operation throughout your business that will allow for as little waste equipment to be held at any time. Your material handling solutions need to be well planned to maximize the effectiveness of every stage of the whole operation that you are running.

When you are planning a production line, ensuring that every stage of the process is carried out as quickly as possible means that the staff at the next stage will have as little time to wait as possible before carrying out their part of the process. The implications of staff wasting time are serious, and this has a major impact on your profit levels. As far as possible, your materials handling solution should be planned in such a way as the faster stages are prioritized so that staff at that point in the process are given their needs first, while other staff who have fewer items of raw materials are given lower priority for restocking.

When you are choosing the material handling solution that will underpin your production or dispatch environment, cost will inevitably be one of your main priorities. It is however more important to examine what impact the investment in certain items will have on the long term efficiency, and whet the return on that investment will be. A gantry crane may seem like a sizable investment at the time you are purchasing it, but it will soon become an essential part of your operation. In a similar way, it may seem expensive to purchase multiple job cranes across your facility, however, when you are able to lift items onto a workbench for working on, as well as having simultaneous access to other lifting equipment throughout the rest of your workplace, it means that you will be able to get many jobs done at the same time.

While some of the material handling solutions available from most companies offer you the chance to carry and manipulate heavy bulk items, they have not ignored the necessity that somem businesses have for being able to properly handle smaller items too, and as a result they are able to offer an impressive range of carts, trucks and trolleys that are able to carry smaller items at the same time as being useful for large boxes that do not require larger forklift manipulation.

Whatever material handling solution your business requires, many companies will be able to advise you on finding the equipment that will meet your needs and give you a head start towards improving the way you operate forever.

Shyness is often called self-consciousness for a very good reason. Many people who are shy have developed shyness after having to deal with something that makes them feel like everyone must be just as aware, or conscious of, the thing they have become acutely aware of themselves. Often, this is something that, although it is glaringly obvious to the person involved, may not even be noticed by people around them.

Humans are social creatures. We want to be part of the pack. We long to be accepted or at least not feel like we stick out too much. Even the most confident people, who seem to have it all put together, have a level of self-consciousness that becomes quite obvious once you know what to look for. The woman you work with who always looks impeccable and has a wonderful, friendly personality? Those trends she follows are the way she fits in with the rest of the world. Most likely, she will be able to keep up with the trends and dress nicely forever, which will make her feel included and secure, allowing her outgoing personality to shine through. However, if she is ever faced with a change in her appearance or an extended time of financial hardship that makes it impossible to keep up with the trends, her self-confidence will probably suffer quite a bit. If this change goes on long enough, she may become withdrawn and shy. Her friends and family may not even realize that this personality change has anything to do with her appearance because all they see is the lovely person that she is.

Someone once said that people wouldn't worry so much about what others thought of them if they realized how rarely they did. This can be a profound realization for anyone who is shy, whether they are naturally shy or developed shyness somewhere along the way. Think about it this way: The last time you ran errands, how often did you even have a thought about anyone else or their appearance? Probably not at all. You were most likely just getting your list of things done, without even a thought of the people around you. Not in a self-absorbed way. You were just going about your business, getting things done like everyone else. If you thought about it for a while, you probably even noticed several things about people that may be sources of great embarrassment or worry for them.

When you consider those things that you noticed, you will probably realize that although you noticed them, you didn't judge them, or even think about them once they were out of your line of sight. You noticed the kid having a fit in the cereal aisle just like you noticed the store clerk putting up a sign. The mom of that kid was probably horrified and embarrassed at every glance she got while she was trying to calm her child down. She may have thought that everyone in the store was thinking badly of her, when in fact most people simply noticed the situation and went on about their day.

The next time you notice yourself blushing while out in public, keeping this in mind may be helpful to you. Even if people do look at you when you blush, they are probably simply noticing you and then don't have a second thought about it.

Chances are, if you have found your way to this article, you do have a problem with excessive blushing. Otherwise, it isn't likely that your research searches would have led you to this page. However, many people who suffer from excessive blushing find themselves surrounded by well meaning friends and family members who tell them that their problem is nothing to be concerned about.

You have to be true to yourself. If you feel that you blush excessively, and if your fear of blushing gets in the way of you being able to live life the way you would choose to do so if blushing were not a problem, then it is true that you have a blushing problem. Even if your problem seems like "no big deal" to other people, the fact that it is a big deal to you is what really matters.

Coping with the problem of excessive blushing is bad enough without having to justify the fact that you have a problem to other people. Keep in mind that the people in your life aren't trying to minimize your problem. It's just that people who don't suffer with excessive blushing have a difficult time comprehending how severe the problem can really be. The only people who really understand what it's like to live with an excessive blushing problem are those who have experienced the problem for themselves.

    Questions to Ask Yourself

If you aren't sure if you really have an excessive blushing problem, there are a few questions that you can ask yourself to help you decide.

    1. Do you get embarrassed because you blush, or do you blush because you are embarrassed? Most people get embarrassed, and then blush as a result of their embarrassment. Problem blushers have the opposite problem. Their blushes come on out of nowhere, for no apparent reason. Once an excessive blusher starts blushing, he or she gets embarrassed, and then the problem becomes even worse.

    2. Do you avoid social situations because you don't want to have to cope with blushing? People who suffer from excessive blushing typically withdraw from situations that require interaction with other people. If you have a tendency to stay home instead of going out and socializing because you're afraid you'll start blushing, it's a safe bet that you have a problem with excessive blushing.

    3. Do you feel like people are judging you when you start blushing? People who suffer from excessive blushing feel that other people notice their blushing and judge them negatively because of it. If you feel that excessive blushing draws attention to you that you do not want, it's very likely that you have a problem.

    4. Is your blushing frequent and unpredictable? If you find yourself dealing with seemingly random attacks of severe blushing, that is a good sign that you are an excessive blusher. Bouts with random blushing are unpleasant realities of everyday life for people who experience problem blushing behavior.

If you recognize yourself in any of these questions, it's true that blushing is a real problem for you. The good news is that it doesn't have to be a permanent problem. You're in the right place to get the help you need to put a stop to your problems with excessive blushing once and for all.

If you'll let me help you, I'll teach you the same techniques I used to overcome my own problems with excessive blushing. Since I've been where you are, I'm living proof that problem blushing doesn't have to rule your life. I'm ready to help you learn how to put a stop to your problem blushing once and for all. Are you ready to make a change that will improve your life?

Whether you have just started or are returning to the dating game, flirting is an essential element of communicating with the opposite sex. Having a few flirting tips in your arsenal will give you clues on how to relax and behave while you're chatting up a cutie. Learning helpful flirting tips isn't simply reserved for teenage girls; men and women of all ages could benefit from flirting tips. Whether it is body language or simple conversation, flirting with the object of your affection requires practice and confidence.

There are two key flirting tips to which all successful flirters adhere. The first is always smile. When you smile you look nice and inviting, like someone worth getting to know. Like everything, this is one of those flirting tips that's best used in moderation; smiling too much for too long will make you look like a drooling psych patient and scare off potential mates. Flash your pearly whites when you make your introduction and keep a light smile throughout the conversation.

The second most important of all flirting tips is eye contact. When you finally get up the nerve to talk to the cutie you've been eying all night, look them directly in the eye. Perfect application of this tip should result in you and your crush huddled in the corner getting to know each other. Making and maintaining eye contact throughout your first interaction will make a deep impression on your crush and likely result in you getting their digits.

Other flirting tips you might find helpful:

    • Keep the conversation light and casual; discussing children in third world nations or religion should be reserved for at least the third date.

    • Be real and don't dish out cheesy pick up lines or phony stories.

    • Keep your relationship history to a minimum; no need to reveal the cause or causes of your previous break ups.

    • Be funny and make her or him laugh. This will ease tension and allow you to open up quicker.

    • Make physical contact but keep it G-rated. A light pat or squeeze of the arm or a pat on the shoulder will suffice. Covering your hand with theirs is also permitted for emphasis in a story.

    • If you're at a bar or restaurant, offer to buy a drink. This move works on both sexes so ladies get out your wallets!

    • Tease them a bit. Give them something to wonder a bit about. Don't give out all of your secrets all at once and make them want to know you better.

    • Be bold; after executing all of these flirting tips flawlessly, it would be a shame not to ask for the phone number.

Remember these flirting tips the next time you spot someone you might be interested in or before you get up the nerve to talk to the object of your affection. Remember practice makes perfect, so don't be afraid to try and if it doesn't work out, just keep trying!

Before you even think about asking a woman on a date, you need to find out what kinds of things are fun for women. Many men think the only activities women enjoy are shopping and talking on the phone, but there is an entire world of fun for women that don't include either of those. Before you ask that special woman to spend time with you, spend some time getting know what kind of activities she will like. You can find subtle clues by simply paying attention. If you look closely, finding clues is as simple as looking closely at photos or awards on her desk or in her office.

Contrary to popular belief, there is a wide variety of activities that don't involve shopping that are fun for women. If the woman you have your eye on loves the great outdoors, pack a picnic and opt for a day in the sun hiking or rock climbing. Finding an activity that is specific to your date will definitely score points with your lady of interest, and maybe even increase chances for a prolonged good night kiss. Finding activities that are fun for women shows that you care and have taken the time to get to know her.

    Don't assume that because your potential date has a hot body that she's a work out fanatic and plan an outdoorsy date. Or don't assume that because she likes sports, means she will enjoy a day of bowling. This is a surefire way to guarantee your date has zero fun. Listen to the things she raves about and be sure to actually listen and ask if you have questions about what she really likes or doesn't. If you're looking for clues for what's fun for women, consider these helpful hints;

    - If your dream girl's nails look well-manicured, she's an indoor kind of girl

    - If your potential date brings a gym bag to work, she might enjoy a hiking date or something adventurous

    - If you always spot your girl buried in a book, try a book or poetry reading date

    - If your date is constantly glued to her IPod, a concert is the way to go

Finding activities that are fun for women isn't so hard, as long as you know what to look for. Before you ask for the date, check with female friends about what kinds of date activities are fun for women and in casual conversation ask your date what she finds fun. Planning a fun date can easily be more than just dinner and a movie. If you really want to impress your date you have to make it memorable. Think about additional ways to make it special, not just the places you go as well. Indoor rock climbing or rollerblading on the beach are activities that are not fun for all women. Try really concentrating on their interests and not only will it show you care about them as a person; it will also increase the chances of a second date!

Whether you're single, or dating, there have probably been a few times that you've stuck your size 12 foot in your mouth or have done something to make her unhappy. Well with the advice for guys we've put together, you can make sure that you never spend another night sleeping on the couch. If that does happen, these tips will help you limit the nights spent on the couch.

The first piece of advice for guys is really important and I am talking about dates. Dates are…important. Women love to celebrate special dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, or any excuse to extract attention. Not to sound redundant, but forgetting a birthday or anniversary is a huge blunder to which every male on the planet has succumbed. Unfortunately, the fact that your peers also forget birthdays should provide you with little comfort. In this advanced day and age with all the technology out there, all you have to do is program a reminder so you can run to the store at the last minute and get a gift. If you find yourself stuck with absolutely nothing to give, make her a card, pick up some flowers, give her something of yours, or find something that makes her feel special.

My second piece of advice for guys is, learn to be sweet. Being sweet doesn't make you "whipped"; it makes you a guy who will be sure to please his girlfriend, wife, or friend! You know in the middle of the day when a thought pops into your head about your girlfriend? Well when that happens, call or text her and tell her you were thinking about her and thought you'd call. It's simple and will take less than 2 minutes of your time. If you listen to nothing else, this piece of advice for guys will always work!

This next bit of advice for guys should be a no-brainer, but if it is not here you go; always be open and honest about your female friends. No matter how hot she is, tell your girl about this friend and let them meet early on. Trust me; you will be in a lot more trouble if you don't tell your girlfriend about this friendship and even more trouble if you forget to tell her that your buddy looks like Gisele Bundchen. The fact that it never crossed your mind will not serve as a legitimate excuse.

This last bit of advice for guys is crucial. If your girlfriend, wife, mother, sister, or really any woman in general asks you that inevitable question, "how do I look" or "do I look fat in this?", before you answer take the time to look at your woman with kind eyes and answer quickly. And no matter what your initial thought, the answer should always "beautiful". Better adjectives include; breathtaking, stunning, and gorgeous. The point isn't really to lie, but any hesitation or unnecessary comments will just upset her or send her back to the closet.

Do you dab on a little extra cologne or aftershave before you head to your best friend's house? Do you spend a little more time on your outfit than you should? Unless you have unrequited feelings for your best friend, your brain is focused on "how can I seduce my best friend's mom'. Lucky for you the May-December romance is still in fashion and with a few helpful tips, you can stop stuttering and make your move.

I know, you're thinking 'there's no way I can seduce my best friend's mom', but you're wrong. Older women dig younger guys, but not just any younger guy; you have to be mature and smooth to seduce your best friend's mom. The first step you need to take is learning to relax. Next time you see your best friend's mom, look her right in the eyes and say "Hello, Lisa". Only call her Lisa if that's her actual name, but the point is to be confident. Calling her by her name rather than Mrs. Jake's Mom, will allow her to view you as a man, instead of her son's best friend.

Seducing any mom takes some getting used to, but seducing your best friend's mom will require some getting used to. To get comfortable with this, you may even have to convince yourself. Try this exercise before you see her again; look in the mirror and say, "I'm going to seduce my best friend's mom". Repeating this will get you used to the idea, and the possibility that it can actually happen.

Once you're comfortable calling her by her first name, stop by when you know your best friend won't be around. She'll open up to the idea of getting involved with her son's best friend is if she's comfortable with it. The only way she will be comfortable is if she can get to know you, without her son around. Since seducing a mom is considered the 'big leagues', you'll have to bring your A game. Bring flowers or a nice bottle of wine, and tell her you were "just thinking" about her when you saw the gift. This gesture and that line will show her how mature and attentive you are.

Once you have developed a relationship with her on a different level, and you have proven yourself to be a mature man, you can move on to the next step. This next step would be to up your game and actually try to make a move on her in a romantic way. Make sure that you respect her while you attempt this, because no matter where it goes, you don't want it to end up bad.

You could start with just simply trying to get her attention and flirt with her to see where it could all lead. If she does show signs of interest, then go ahead and try to kiss her. Remember though she is experienced and will expect a mature and appropriate kiss. Kissing can make it all happen, so be prepared, confident, and relaxed. Don't rush anything and above all else, respect her, her words, her wants, and her needs.

Article Title: Jekyll And Hyde Of Network Marketing

Everyone wants to get rich quick and most think the easiest way to do it is through a marketing network, or multi level marketing. These people are confused with the pyramid schemes, however. Pyramid schemes wind you up to thinking that you can make upwards of about ten thousand dollars a month within three months. These are the schemes where you hardly see any profit and you never know what your product is, because a lot of times there is not one. Unfortunately, because of this falsity, network marketing has gotten a nasty reputation due to the fact that they are somewhat similar in nature. Honestly, the only thing that makes the two alike is the fact that they are both networks. Network marketing is begun with an idea, a product, and the person who began said idea gets a few friends involved and they help sell the product then they get friends involved and so on and so forth until the product itself is so big and popular that everyone makes money off of it. This is not a project that will make people millionaires in an instant, but it is great for supplemental income.

In all actuality, marketing networks are along the same lines of franchises which also got a bad reputation in the fifties when they first came around. Look at all the hamburger joints around today, though. Actually, the make up that is being sold by the ladies who drive a pink Cadillac work for network markets. The parties that are held for plastic storage containers that everyone tends to use are part of network markets. Believe it or not, those cute little girls in green who sell you cookies each fall are also part of network markets. That is right; fundraising is a major player in the network market system. When an organization signs up with the company to sell their products in order to make a small profit for them, they become part of the network. The company that is providing the products just hikes up the prices and they in turn make a small profit after donating a portion of the proceeds.

Network markets are widely spread – throughout all fifty states and over one hundred countries. Some new businesses appeal to people because they are able to work from home, work part time, and choose the hours that they want. Be wary of those that advertise pay is higher for recruitment than for the sale of the product itself; you would never make any money. Some network markets have even been compared to cults since many have intense motivational programs. One way to see if the company is legit is to check its seventy percent rule: the company must sell that much of their existing inventory before ordering more. The main thing to remember is that network marketing is about the product, not just its sale and the employees' profits. Check with the better business bureau and FTC before you invest time and money.
